I bought this because it was cheap and I was using a borrowed one at the office (where the a/c blasts whether we need it or not). I got it yesterday and it kicks the big green Black and Decker I was using's butt. With the other one I had to keep it on the highest settings. This one is smaller and it can either be upright or laying down. I keep it laying down (seems more stable that way). I run it at the low power setting and at medium heat setting and it warms up better than the other one did. I JUST READ OTHER REVIEWS ELSEWHERE THAT IT CAN BREAK AFTER A FEW WEEKS. So remember when you read this review that I've only had it for a day and a half. I'm loving it but I'm cautious about buying one for home. I'll wait and see how this one stands the test of time.

I got this heater second hand from a thrift store about a year and a half ago and it has outlived two similar yet more expensive heaters that I purchased brand new. The thermostat works great so makes it a good option for a bedroom. Its very lightweight but the housing is sturdy. Ours has been knocked around quite a bit during our move, being dragged between rooms, not to mention the abuse it probably sustained while at the thrift store. I highly recommend this heater and will likely buy another.

I've had this heater for at least 5 years and last week it finally died on me. Needless to say,I'm buying another one. I recommend this heater for home, as well as, office. I initally used it in the office then took it home during the winter months to try it out and hopefully cut down on some of my heating costs. I NEVER took it back to the office! It works well on those nights when it's not bitter cold and you just want some heat to be cozy underneath a blanket. I always say, if something works, stick with it.

This unit is truly prettier than I thought it would be. It matches my other oak furniture perfectly and the fireplace unit makes for cozy ambiance. It was very easy to put together and I got it together in a couple of hours. Mantle and electric fire place is the easiest i have ever assembled. dowel rods and a few lil screw bolts. looks decent, has a darker stain than i wanted, is not real wood. it is particle board with oak face. a little expensive but is not an eye sore.

Well it's hard to turn down with free shipping and a almost $100.00 mark down right?

This was exactly as described in the one star review here. I also purchased for a spa fair and didn't realize that one 1/2 this size would certainly accomodate at least 12 towels at a time. This "jumbo" version: top and bottom will probably only get used on top, except during the fairs. It also could easily accomodate 30+hand towels. I don't know where these manufacturers get their estimates on how many towels the warmers hold...?

In addition it's glued-on tag was hanging off exposing screws, one on/off switch is crooked and the box came torn up despite poor packaging warmer was undamaged. The seals are terrible (first demo w/2 towels it leaked) and if we used it more I'd send it right back. I almost find it offensive that we are (as consumers) stuck with bulky things like this because it's more trouble than worth the time to send them back...

This is the smallest fireplace type space heater I have seen. I have used the larger size in my bedroom, but even on low, it was too much warmth for the space. This smaller Dimplex unit is just right. In about a 12'x12' room, a few hours of this heater on low warms us up on nights when it's in the low 30s, upper 20's. I'm very happy with it; the style is great and it isn't hot to the touch. Unlike the larger types, the heat on this one comes out of the lower front panel instead of from further underneathbut that's the only difference. The power is wonderful and the flames-look, relaxing. It's also very quiet.

I was disappointed that the first cube package that I opened was defective so with that in mind, I decided to return all three Dimplex Mini Cube Freestanding Electric Stoves. The three packages were picked up by Fed Ex on January 29th and to date have not received my refund. Not at all satisfied with this transaction. We saw this advertised in a Jewish Newspaper and were intrigued. We bought the larger size pot when we realized that they both had the same " footprint " and the larger size took up no extra space on the counter-top, the difference in volume being made up in the height of the unit, not the width or depth. It's a very cool looking unit. The design makes certain issues of Hachzorah and Hamtanoh easier. The little plastic switch cover looks neater than putting aluminum foil over the controls as we have done on out other crock pots. The instructions aren't really explicit as to how to use the Blech component, but anyone familiar with Hilchos Shabbos shouldn't have a problem. If in doubt, contact your LOR ( local Orthodox Rabbi ) If you are used to using a conventional crock pot, the cooking times are somewhat different and it does take some trial and error to get it right. Overall we are very happy with the unit. Very easy to keep clean. We give it 5 stars. There is nothing on the market to compare.

Folks, I shopped online for many heated mattress pads. I read everything, and finally decided I would narrow the choice to the new "low voltage" models, that convert the AC current that comes from the wall into a low voltage DC (or some such thing) to power the thin little wires in the pad. Some people claim the higher voltage might have dangerous fields or such some dispute that, but anyway, it seems like newer technology is better so I went that way.

The choices narrowed down to a model from Frontgate that is $100 more, but has the advantage of a separate heating zone for the feet. So if you're a cold-footed person, you can crank up the foot portion of the mattress pad. Also, that Frontgate model had, in addition to the wired control, an identical wireless control. I guess that's if you don't like wires hanging off your bedstand, or if you want to be able to fire up that puppy when you're standing over by your closet. So I actually ordered both to compare.

This velour pad is really nice. You might wonder if it's too fluffy or smells synthetic or whatever, but really I would say it feels like if you laid down a very soft plush towel on your mattress, then put your fitted sheet on top. Very comfortable. Doesn't feel fluffy through your fitted sheet, just feels soft and nice. The dial has quite a range so you can set it just how you want.

By contrast, the expensive Frontgate model only had three settings, hi, medium, and lo, and I don't think that's enough range.

As for whether you want the velour or just a plain cotton/mix pad, that's up to you. And as to whether you want a heated mattress pad vs. an electric blanket, you can read all about the pros/cons from other reviewers. I am so thrilled to have the mattress heated, after using electric blankets for 10 years, because it makes so much more sense. I love it! One of my favorite additions to the house ever. This is the one I kept I sent the Frontgate back.

UPDATE: I revised this to include some thoughts from the comments.

It's really hard to describe just how great this heated mattress pad is. You would think the "microplush" part wouldn't matter. But somehow, even through my 800 thread count sheets, I can feel the difference when I put this on my bed. Just having the pad on the bed is great even when it's not turned on.

The heating coils are much finer (thinner) than typical heated pads so there aren't lumps and the heat is more uniform. The heat range seems quite nice. Of course, I live in Colorado and my wife likes to keep the window open. So we use a heavy down comforter with the heater.

The pad itself wraps your mattress well. This will fit even the thickest Queen size mattress without danger of the pad sliding around at night.

Now for the caveats. Yeah, I suggested there was only one but there are two important concerns:

1. The power inverter that converts the 110 volts AC coming out of your wall (which normal pads use directly) into lower voltage DC tends to make a high pitched whistle. I guess I didn't go to enough Rock concerts when I was younger because I am still sensitive to high frequency sounds. There are many nights where the whistle wakes me up. You have to unplug the unit to get it to stop. I usually through a pillow over the unit and that sometimes helps. It is high frequency, which means it's highly directional and easily blocked.

2. You cannot get replacement controllers. The manufacturer, PerfectFit / SoftHeat / Chattam & Wells, does not sell replacement controllers. After about two and a half years, my original controller died leaving me freezing while my wife was toasty. They did honor the five year warranty and sent an entire new pad with two controllers!

Maybe #2 isn't really a caveat. They did a great job honoring the warranty and now I have a complete set of spare parts. But I'm still going to knock a star for #1. If you are sensitive to high frequency sounds, this may not be the pad for you. Otherwise, this heating pad really is great!

I am very pleased with this heated mattress pad. It fits my queen mattress nicely. THe wire connections are located at the head of the pad on the vertical (edge) section. They are not at the bottom of the pad so you don't have wires running up towards the head of the bed from underneath. THe cover is soft and fuzzy so the sheet (I happen to be using flannel sheets right now) don't slip around on the pad. It heats up quickly. I wish for the money, that the controls had a system for preheat time and then automatically switches to your desired reduced heat setting. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase. THe washing instructions also look like it's a washer friendly pad no extra special handling for washing Yea! I am glad I bought a heated pad and not an electric blanket no matter where my feet are, they lie in a warm spot.

It is all that I hoped for. This heated mattress pad is wonderful and will keep you toasty warm! I have typically had electric blankets but they always stop working after a season. While I have not had this for nearly that long and cannot comment on how long it will work I will say that it is fantastic. It seems to give out a little extra heat near the bottom where your feet are and that is perfect for me. I do have to turn it off usually in the middle of the night (or at least turn it to low) because I get very warm but it feels perfect as I'm going to sleep. You cannot feel the wires and I do not hear any humming sound from the converter boxes which are under the bed. I'm not sure if the microplush is really necessary but it feels great when putting it on the bed. My mattress is 15" deep and this fit it very easily and should be able to fit mattresses that are even deeper. Two thumbs up on this purchase!

This is a really nice and quiet fan, with 3 speeds, and an oscillation setting. It is great for sitting in a hot office, where you just want to cool yourself, without worrying about cooling the entire room. It works well where you already have air conditioning, but you want to save money on electricity by setting the thermostat a couple of degrees higher than normal.

In a sense, it is louder than I thought "whisper quiet" should be. It's more of a loud whisper. I think what they mean is that the motor is "whisper quiet" so all you hear is the sound of rushing air rather than the buzz of the motor. In that sense, it is a quiet fan.

I'm using it in the bedroom. I placed a folded-up cloth underneath it to reduce any noise from the fan vibrating on the table. The fan is located on the opposite side of the room by the foot of the bed, with the air flow pointed toward the head of the bed. I don't mind the "white noise" of the sound of the rushing air from the far side of the room. Even on low speed, it creates enough air movement that, while it isn't blowing directly on me, I can feel the air moving around.

Unlike a one-star review for this product, mine does not click or make noise when oscillating. That reviewer must have gotten a defective item.

If you need absolute silence to sleep, this fan is not for you. If you don't mind white noise, I say give it a try.

I've had about three of these and they all end up with the same issue. They start out quiet, then slowly over time, get noisier, mainly an irritating rattle the source of which I suspect is the mountings for the cheap vertical plastic vane. This happens whether its oscillating or not although the oscillation mechanism ends up with its own particular noise.

I bought this expecting the extra vertical height to deliver the heat at a more direct level. Which it kind of does but that design is a compromise which doesn't offer a great benefit.

The design gives you the impression that the front fascia is mostly a heat output area but that's a lie. What they've done is taken a typical 1500W wide-type heating element and just stretched it vertically, so the actual area of output is through a 1 inch vertical gap between the center three fins. The lower quarter of the design is for the fan intake too so don't consider that part of the heating element.

What this means is the heat delivery is a very narrow area of effect and you have to be standing within about three or four feet to feel it on your skin. In fact the output even on high is not very hot at all. On the plus side it means the casing remains cool to the touch on all sides, in fact you could actually put your hand over the opening and leave it there. A hair dryer has a hotter output and at high speed this unit sounds about the same as a hair dryer so it needs to be at a distance. Low speed is more tolerable.

The remote is useful in that it has an LCD feedback display for temperature and fan setting but is very cheaply made with loose, cheap feeling buttons. The main unit fares better but it is not one of Lasko's better quality products.

If you want to slowly heat a small room then this would probably work, but for medium to large rooms the output will not provide instant heat and be in constant use trying to automatically maintain your set temperature.

Having purchased a Lasco fan which works very well and has a relatively small footprint, I definitely turned to Lasko when I was looking for a heater. The 5588 fit the bill. I have not experienced any problems, EXCEPT that when my printer (in the office where I was using the heater) began to print, the electricity went out. I had to get a new line for my office to prevent this from happening again. Now it works well! I imagine that my experience is similar to others who have purchased a heater (Lasko or another brand). It is well to be warned so you are prepared if this happens to you. Getting a new line installed cost me almost $300.00, but, in the end, it was worth it.

This is the best tower heater ive ever used. Love that the remote has a small lcd display. Heats up my bedroom quick. Love the automatic temp thing, turns off when it gets to the temp and then keeps checking it every once in a while to see if its still the same temp. Only dislike is the bright blue lights on the top, just a little too bright for sleeping.

This is a great fast heating ceramic heater. The design is nice and compact. Great for small spaces, but strong enough that you want to keep it at least 3 feet away from you. Find that most of the heat does come out and up. Doesn't project too far out. Settings are nice the temperature regulation is nice if your using it in addition to a home or apartment heating system. This way it will shut off when the room gets warm enough.

I can actually sleep with this thing. Has all the usual functions...installed easy peasy and cools our large bedroom very nicely. Love the low profile. A negative is that you can't really see the display, but I can live with that...also the air goes more up than at...which is actually a plus from my perspective.

UPDATE: I have ordered and use two of these now. Both arrived without damage that others mentioned. I continued to be pleased with these relatively quiet units that are less obtrusive and that provide good cooling.

No complaints whatever. This unit, rated 6000 BTUH, cools two full rooms, where a "big-box special" 10,000 BTUH unit doesn't quite manage one (slightly smaller than the two others). Its low-profile design produces an up-and-over air flow that distributes cool air around the room, instead of blowing straight out and directly on the people. It has separate fans for indoor cooling and outdoor condensing, so it's more efficient than a cheap single-fan unit and only makes noise when it has to. Not that it's noisy -at its worst it's better than most window units I've seen lately.

It's a little more pricey than the average big-box-store unit, but I consider the extra money well spent.

It was well packed and arrived in good order. I was a little worried because I'm a little feeble, and it was a couple of days before I could get some help installing it, but the instructions were clear and everything "just worked" right out of the box. Recommended!

I had trouble finding an air conditioner that would fit a window larger than 36". This one fits the bill. This works great in my office window. The unit fits well into the window with little effort. The low profile is a nice bonus, but the controls and spot on temp/etc controls are excellent as is the remote. We'll see how the summer works out, but the unit is quiet compared to many lesser window units. Yes, you do hear the extra fan (outside) and compressor turn on, but nothing to complain about given the low volume of the main fan, and much quieter than a $100 unit. I like the energy efficiency, and definitely appreciate the solid construction (much better than cheaper units, nothing rattles at all) so far. Installation hardware (includes quality expanding sides, leveling plate and insulation strips) and instructions were spot on, and perhaps 30 minutes at most to install, mostly spent unboxing and unwrapping it.

Main install "issue" with replacement windows in an older house is the lack of slope on the outside window ledge. I found that a $5 square table leg from local "big box home store" on the window sill raised the unit just enough to make the fit perfectly. I was unable to install a smaller 5000 BTU unit (a quality AC as well) in rear window due to height (room above garage in older house). This one fit the bill, and fit in the window perfectly. Airflow is definitely upward, but avoids the air blowing at you if your bed is close by, and is fairly adjustable given the low profile of the unit.

*added* summer temps hit 95F/35C and AC holds 20x12 room at 65F/18C without a problem. :-) nice!

I ordered this product for our upstairs bedroom vent to help cool the room. The thermostat to control the fan speed is a great idea, but ours doesn't consistently run only when the AC kicks on. When it does run, it's not exactly quiet and kind of annoying. However, we do manage to sleep through it fine. Overall though, I gave this product only 2 stars because it doesn't force that much more cold air into the room. It would also be helpful if the vent slats were directional. Running the fan function by itself (not with the AC) produces no extra cold air, only air movement.

After purchasing one, I hoped it would work at least okay to purchase another for my upstairs office. Instead, I'm shelling out the money for a free standing AC unit. I'd advise you to do the same if you want cold air.

I bought the AirFlow Breeze because the upstairs rooms in my townhome were always 8-10 degrees warmer than the down stairs rooms. The problem was the AC fans were not getting the air into room. After adding the Airflow Breeze I noticed an immediate difference. I would reccomend for anyone who needs to force more air into a room that is either too hot or cold.

In fact it is the same fire pit that I had purchases at Home Depot for about $60 less but took it back because it was very flimsy and had a dent in the side of it. This pit looks exactly like the one I had purchased for less and it is NOT CAST IRON.

The add stated that the fire pit was cast iron. The only parts that are cast iron are the legs. The fire bowl is you typical thin metal.

This is a great fire pit! We are really enjoying it. It was very easy to put together. The box came very tattered and I was worried there might be some product damage, but there was none. I wish it came with a cover, but other than that it is a really great buy!!! Seller was wonderful!!!

This was absolutely better then we thought . A couple of friends have seen ours and wished they went for the one instead. It's much bigger then the ones we have seen and it allows bigger and warmer fires. The only negative thing is that the fire poker sent was cheap and the handle kept twisting off. No big deal. A trip to the hardware store and the problem was solved.
