Looks great, got a bunch of compliments on this. The cabinets on the side are perfect. Like it that the light will run when the heat isnt running. it also needs to be plugged into a grounded outlet. Make sure you have one. Also really easy to put together and is not made cheap. Great product for a great price.

First I'd like to say it came by mail very quickly, less than a week (2 separate shipments) even though I chose the standard shipping. The box was a little torn up but nothing inside was damaged. I found it to be a bit of a pain to put together by myself, but it turned out to be quite worth the effort. I too left off the doors and like the look better without them, but to each their own. If you want a small decorative item to serve as a space warmer then I think its worth the money.

Do not purchase this item if you are looking for an electric fireplace that looks real. The firebox is very small. Their is only one log and the fake flames look like the side of the box is red. Below the log when light is on looks like a red rectangle. The painting done to make it look like coals does not even show. It is just a red rectangle. The fire has no realistic look at all. Looks more like a mobile light in a childs room. Very disappointed with this purchase. I would return it but I can't afford to and am stuck with this. Not even going to put in a room because it is such an eyesore. When I put my 42 inch tv on top it made the the whole entertainment center look tiny. Made the fire looks like a joke. My tv did not even fit on top and the tv stand hangs over the edge of the mantel by over 3 inches. Thought I was getting a good deal. Instead have a really thin, cheap looking eyesore. Buyers beware.

The fireplace is a bit smaller than you would expect. I beefed up this entertainment center with 2 DVD holders I bought at Walmart for less than $20 each to make the Center look larger. Don't expect your DVD player and stereo system to fit in this. The fireplace is great, but small. I love the way it looks, and the heat is great. The doors aren't predrilled on the entertainment center, so you'd have to spend a lot of time figuring out where to place the doors so they are level, so we just left them off. Overall, a decent little buy, but wish we would have gone with a larger center.

But now it has up and died after one year of use.

I'll miss it.

This is a nice heavy stove and with a little work can be a very effeiecent stove, I looked under the top lid of mine and could see some fire around part of the lenghth, so I took a wood working clamp and put it on the top and bottom vertically and tightened it up, the top went down into the grove and stayed ther after removing the clamp, that made it air tight around the top, ( I also took the top off and changed the gasket ) then I had bought plenty of 1/2" and 3/8" gasket material so I put gasket material around the groves where the round stove plates go, then I made a little piece of alumiuim to fit under the door where there was quite a large gap, my stove will burn for 10 hours now without having to load it up very much, there are several mor thing I did to improve the stove, such as taking valve grinding compound and seating the sliding damper to the part it slides on and building a sliding damper to sit on top of the 2 air draft slots, it wasn't a lot of work and now I can control the fire, I could not control it at all before the modifications, now I love my 2421 stove. like the gentleman said in previous review you can make it better with work. mine leaked bad when i got it, unusable. so i patched the seams with furnace cement, helped a lot but you still get smoke from openings , if you want to work on those areas as well maybe you could get it to stop leaking smoke. after all the sealing i did, i put out the lights and shined a flash light in the room and there was a haze of smoke all through the room. it seems to eat wood quit a bit also all and all there are too many problems with it and i don't consider something a good product if you have to do so much work to it just to be able to put up with it. if you can get it for a couple hundred bucks it may be worth it to put in a work shed or area outside. don't waste your money on this one.

Rustic/Classic looking stove.

Assembly is possible if you have some metal working ability, as some of the parts need to be filed to fit, and then re-painted.

Instructions aren't very helpful at all, though you will eventually figure it out through trial and error if you are handy.

It is LONG... if you are replacing an existing stove, measure the stove area and draw a diagram of how this will fit. Mine doesn't, as it is on a raised brick platform. Since there are no diagrams on the outside of the box, you should measure the floor model at TSC to decide if it will fit.

I haven't fired it up yet, so I cannot comment on the performance, though the metal to metal part fit has me concerned that it will smoke at the seams.

I was a bit hesitant when I ordered this since I could only rely on a photo and a very brief description of the item and its features. Since I have Amazon Prime this 100+ pound fireplace shipped FREE and it was delivered in less than one week from the time I ordered it which was a huge savings on shipping alone. Combined with the fact it was already deeply discounted, it proved to be a major savings in more than one way. It arrived in two separate boxes, was very nicely packed with everything undamaged. The instructions could have been a bit more detailed but overall the assembly was manageable even for one person (a woman) to accomplish with relative ease. All parts were present with extra dowels, screws, etc. nicely packaged and clearly marked. I had it fully assembled in about an hour and a half.

Once assembled and turned on, it provided an extremely realistic flame and glowing logs along with digital temperature and timer and several settings for flame height and log glowing intensity as well as several timer options. Best of all, there is a remote control that allows you to change settings without having to get up. Also an extremely quiet blower that delivers toasty warmth to the room. It delivers warmth in relatively quick time and can be used without heat to add the ambiance of a flickering fire, and the heat can be used without the flame too.

This item exceeded my expectations in every way. The wood is a rich and dark brown with a nice patina, the slate is realistic in appearance, the antique bronze tiles add a nice touch and the overall look is imbued with understated elegance that compliments my traditional styled living room. I added an antique clock to the mantel and it is simply stunning! I now want to spend my time in a living room that once was hardly ever used.

I purchased this wood stove about 3 years ago. I have owned other stoves in the past and was very pleased with each one...until I bought this one.

I live in New England and here we need to depend on a good reliable source of heat.I had not seen this stove prior to purchasing it...mistake #1. None were on display anywhere in my area. I went on the recommendation of a friend who had one, but knew nothing about wood stoves....mistake #2.First off, the stove is very hard to regulate. It either is set low and smokes all over or all the way open and will blast you out of the house. It probably would work better in a large home for that reason.

It is a poorly built cheap quality most likely a Chinese made stove(as quoted on another website). The first year I had to replace the door gasket 3 times until I emailed the company and they sent one that has worked fine since. The door is out of alignment and doesn't fit flush. The hinges have a lot of slop in them. Year 2, the handle broke off, very poor design and materials.I emailed and complained about it and they did send a new one free. Year 3, Some of the fire brick are now breaking and the grate has broken.There is a big hole in the middle. A new one on their website costs $ + shipping. They are also to last for years according to their website.

This is not an air tight wood stove like I thought. There are gaps in the doors and The fire box is thin metal. Overall it does technically work, but for the money it is very, very poor. Please do yourself a favor and look to a different company.

I purchased this stove over 2 years ago to to replace an old oil burning stove. I could not be happier. Our family home is about 1200sqft, and this is our only heat source. I have even used the top surface for cooking meals during power outages a few times. It is very well made with cast iron doors, and heavy gauge steel box. Please read instructions on proper heating to prevent smoking if you are not familiar with wood stoves. Works greats, keeps us warms, and very efficient wood burner!

This is a great thermostat. I live in Michigan, and I have a, well insulated, home office built into one side of my garage. I have used a cheap ceramic electric heater (with a fan and built in thermostat)for 14 years. Until I got this thermostat, the temperature had always varied widely. Most of the time I had to wear a sweater to work in the winter. From January of this year until summer, the Dimplex thermostat kept the temperature constant, with the same heater.

The heater is in front of my desk on the floor, and I mounted the thermostat about 6 feet up, on the wall next to my desk. I have a digital clock, with a thermometer on the opposite wall. Every time I looked at it, from January until I put the heater away for the summer, the temperature was 73 degrees or rarely 72.

The wiring was a little trouble, because the thermostat is on the opposite wall from the out;et for the heater, but it was definitely worth it.

I would recommend this to anyone.

I use this heater in a relatively unisulated (only 1.5" thick fiberglass on steel building walls) 1260 sq ft building (30'x42'x14'). It has an easy starting push-pin and an easy to rotate knob for adjustment of high/low. There isn't much sound difference between high/low, but there is definitely less gas usage on settings less than high.

The manual recommended checking all the fitting connections on the included hose for leaks. I kinda took that for granted assuming the unit should be perfect. After 2-3 uses found a leak at one of the fittings. It was quickly corrected with removal and re-installation using thread sealant, but it just goes to show that reading the manual and following the directions are always a safe bet.

Like any open propane heater, this unit has no way of venting out doors so you want to make sure and use an appropriate Carbon Monoxide detector along with proper ventilation of the enclosed space. I have a CO detector that plugs into the wall, but mostly I just don't leave the heater on for more than an hour max, and make sure to ventilate/get outside every once in a while when working in the cold condtions.

Excellent quality overall. Follow the directions and you should have no issues.

I live in Kansas where the winter is always from 0 to 30, my 3 car garage is half finished with r19 and no drywall. Need to work in the garage, usually it's about 10 degrees warmer then the temp outside. 22'w X 30'l x 11' h. cracked the back door to the garage and fired it up on low for about 20 minutes it was comfortable for jeans and sweatshirt. Easy hook up, fittings do not seem to be leaking at this time but will keep a look out. Slight propane smell but was expected. All in all Good Buy!

I put this heater in my daughter's bedroom in December 2006. It keeps her room heated throughout at a consistent temperature in the cold months. The unit is never hot to the touch and uses little electricity. Our pets love to lay right next to it on a cold day. I have always been a little nervous about the burn and fire hazards associated with space heaters, but feel perfectly safe with this one. My wife and I fell in love with this heater as soon as we took it out of the box and plugged it in. It produced almost immediate radiant heat, very pleasant!. It takes a little while for the convection aspect to kick in. The heater draws in the cooler air at floor level. The warm panel draws the cooler air up between the back of the heater and the wall. The narrow one-inch space between the wall and the back of the heater speeds up the flow of air, producing a sort of Venturi effect, which is what makes the air in the room circulate.

We questioned whether the thermostat and eco mode were working properly. The heater has an automatic eco mode. When the room temperature reaches the desired thermostat setting, the heater reduces it's power consumption from 1500 watts to 1000 watts. However, the eco mode always kicked in before reaching the room temperature that we set on the heater's thermometer. So, I don't know if this was a defect, or if this is the way it's designed, but it defeats its purpose by lowering heat output when the room has not even warmed to the thermostat setting.

If it weren't for these two problems I would have given it a 5.

I've had to return them both and now I've got nothing and am at a loss of which model to purchase. The company told me to get another model and I wouldn't have the burning cord problem.

I can actually sleep with this thing. Has all the usual functions...installed easy peasy and cools our large bedroom very nicely. Love the low profile. A negative is that you can't really see the display, but I can live with that...also the air goes more up than at...which is actually a plus from my perspective.

UPDATE: I have ordered and use two of these now. Both arrived without damage that others mentioned. I continued to be pleased with these relatively quiet units that are less obtrusive and that provide good cooling.

No complaints whatever. This unit, rated 6000 BTUH, cools two full rooms, where a "big-box special" 10,000 BTUH unit doesn't quite manage one (slightly smaller than the two others). Its low-profile design produces an up-and-over air flow that distributes cool air around the room, instead of blowing straight out and directly on the people. It has separate fans for indoor cooling and outdoor condensing, so it's more efficient than a cheap single-fan unit and only makes noise when it has to. Not that it's noisy -at its worst it's better than most window units I've seen lately.

It's a little more pricey than the average big-box-store unit, but I consider the extra money well spent.

It was well packed and arrived in good order. I was a little worried because I'm a little feeble, and it was a couple of days before I could get some help installing it, but the instructions were clear and everything "just worked" right out of the box. Recommended!

The unit fits well into the window with little effort. The low profile is a nice bonus, but the controls and spot on temp/etc controls are excellent as is the remote. We'll see how the summer works out, but the unit is quiet compared to many lesser window units. Yes, you do hear the extra fan (outside) and compressor turn on, but nothing to complain about given the low volume of the main fan, and much quieter than a $100 unit. I like the energy efficiency, and definitely appreciate the solid construction (much better than cheaper units, nothing rattles at all) so far. Installation hardware (includes quality expanding sides, leveling plate and insulation strips) and instructions were spot on, and perhaps 30 minutes at most to install, mostly spent unboxing and unwrapping it.

Main install "issue" with replacement windows in an older house is the lack of slope on the outside window ledge. I found that a $5 square table leg from local "big box home store" on the window sill raised the unit just enough to make the fit perfectly. I was unable to install a smaller 5000 BTU unit (a quality AC as well) in rear window due to height (room above garage in older house). This one fit the bill, and fit in the window perfectly. Airflow is definitely upward, but avoids the air blowing at you if your bed is close by, and is fairly adjustable given the low profile of the unit.

*added* summer temps hit 95F/35C and AC holds 20x12 room at 65F/18C without a problem. :-) nice!
