The Jarden consumer heater made by bionair is better than I had anticipated. I use several space heaters in my home while I run my WVO powered generator in the winter time. This heater is relativly quiet, has an easy to use thermostat, and can be a primary source of heat for up to 250square feet. The down sides to this product are that there is no ground on the electrical plug and the thermostate will only go down to 65F before going down to freeze mode at 40F. The height of this model is shorter than anticipated as well being less than knee height. For the money, it's ok, it will heat a room, but that darn electrical plug is worrysome.

Tried Honeywell (noisy and did not heat the room well), Smal (dangerous it short circuited), a radiator type (outside got very hot and because there is no fan with that type it took a long time to heat the room)and none seemed to be right.

I saw this one and it looked like the perfect solution and I must say I am happy with this little sucker! Got it home and it heated up right away. The fan is very very quiet and I love the back-lit thermostat. I tested the tip over control and it shuts off right away. The grill gets a bit hot but not so it would burn you. You can hold your hand on it for a few seconds before you feel it and then it simply feels hot enough that you know to pull your hand away. That is important to me because I have pets.

I tried a few others but they were too noisy or just did not have the features. This one is a great combo of function, features and price.

Seems to be able to heat up quite a large room (300-500 square feet)fairly quickly. I don't see any reason to buy anything else!

Product does what it is expect to but it is noisy when operating. Much noiser than an older space heater that I have. Also sometimes when an auto mode it continously cycles on and off with a five second pause in between.

Bottom line: Would I buy again no; Would I recommend to a friend no.

Honest reviews on Jarden Consumer Heater BCH9212-U Bionaire Ceramic Mini Tower Heater

This heater was recommended by a major consumer review magazine and it has met my expectations. We use it in the master bathroom which is quite large and we normally only use the low heat setting to quickly warm the room. The tall narrow profile results in a small footprint that does not take up much room. It is very quiet and the option to oscillate in approximately 180 degree pattern helps to distribute the heat evenly. I have not used the option to set a temperature that the heater can automatically maintain. It also has a fan only mode. The remote is a nice convenience that allows you to change modes of operation from across the room. I would recommend this heater for someone who wants a quiet heater that can quickly warm a relatively large space. I don't give it 5 stars because the LCD display of black on grey is hard to read in low light.

We've had this heater for over a year and it has always turned right on and puts out good heat for a small model. Totally satisfied for what we use it for a little extra heat in our family room. The noise isn't bad, it doesn't take up much room, and it's nice looking. Nothing bad to say about this heater!

I had received two of these a while back and decided to give one a try as we were having Homecoming at our church today and I thought it would be a nice idea to keep the pot warmer longer (we all agree the concept is a good one).

With that said, I removed the HOT ROCK from the never-before-opened packaging (identical to the one depicted here on Amazon) and commenced to microwave the HOT ROCK MICROWAVEABLE HOT PLATE -PER INSTRUCTIONS for 3 minutes.

3 minutes is exactly halfway between the recommended setting for my oven (three ranges depicted on the back of the HOT ROCK depending on the wattage of your oven).

Before it finished my oven began making a horrific noise.

The magnetron is blown! Oven is Kaput! And is a nice one that is probably two years old at best.

I certainly would never put one of these in any microwave that I wanted to use again. Mine is blown and does nothing but make noise and not heat. I have been through all of the troubleshooting available on a Sunday and it all points to big fix that I feel should be done by the folks at HOT ROCKS.

So, where are those guys.

Nothing is listed for address or phone number in the brochure or on the box (other than imported by Books are Fun, Fairfield, Iowa.

I am trying to locate someone for some relief, but this site was the only thing I saw and would warn everyone against putting one of these things in your microwave.

The idea is great, but execution ? Executed my microwave.

ZERO STARS would be the true rating, but one is minimal.

We bought a couple of these a bunch of years ago, and have used them a lot over the years. Nowadays, before I go to bring home a take-out dinner (sandwich, Chinese, pizza, etc), I throw this into the micro for 4 minutes and go out the door. When I come back 20 minutes later, it's still very hot, and I put the package on top of it while I change and get the dinnerware and drinks together, set up the TV/VCR/DVD to watch something while eating, etc. Sometimes it seems the food is hotter by the time I'm ready than when I walked in the door with it!

But I am appalled at the asking price here. The original one sold at Walgreens for $5. Even with inflation since then, and being happy with it, I'm not sure I'd pay more than $10. I see a number of them on ebay for around $15 that might be bordering on fair. I don't think you need to hesitate to buy a used one, as long as there is no obvious physical damage I don't see how it could wear out functionally.

Best Deals on The Oringinal Keep It Hot Microwaveable Hot Plate

I hesitated to use it at first because I was unsure how the granite could be hot without melting the plastic coating. This is not a problem. Once I tried it, I like it a lot. To love it I'd want a bigger plastic case surrounding the hot granite stone. Other than that, it's great. I've heard of people using it as a cooler too, but I have not tried that myself.

Overall, I recommend this.

Honest reviews on The Oringinal Keep It Hot Microwaveable Hot Plate

I have one of these things (bought years ago) that I use to keep tortillas warm after cooking, or to warm a plate of pancakes, and it's perfect for that function. But do NOT pay $40 for it! It's worth $15-$20 at most. Check your local Target or buy one off Ebay. (That price has got to be a bot error.)

There is one place that I bring food for a large group of people. The place where we eat together, does not have electricity where we need it. I found one for a reduced price, and was so happy with this warming stone, that I bought a second one.

Of, course the heat slowly goes out of the stone, unlike an electrical product. But if you are going somewhere where there is no electricity, this is great.

I have put them in the microwave for 3 minutes, but never 30 minutes. Probably putting it in for 30 minutes will mess up your microwave.

This is an awesome heater! Its great for my home office and keeps it toasty warm. Its very nice looking, I love the remote, and the auto-temp is great. One of the main reasons I bought it though was for the timer, which is really important to me because Im always afraid of leaving it on. As soon as I walk in the room and turn it on with the remote, I automatically hit the timer also. BUT....my heater, the 8365, does NOT oscillate. The description for the heater says "the Air King 8365 offers a safe ceramic heating element, and widespread oscillation" and there is a button on the heater and the remote for oscillation, yet it doesnt do anything when I hit the button. Ive tried turning the temp way up, way down, all different things with no luck. There is a chart farther down that looks like it says the 8365 does not oscillate, so then why is it in the description & have buttons for it if it doesnt?? That makes no sense to me. Its not enough for me to send the heater back though. Just knocked a star off is all. I still love it!

This heater works great for my small office! I love that it has an auto-temp setting. The thermometer isn't always that precise, but I don't need it to be. Having the timer gives me peace of mind that I'm not going to forget to turn it off and burn the building down. This heater is easy to put together. The pedestal it is on is sturdy enough, but is not designed to be moved around a lot. It does not have an "auto off" in case the heater gets knocked over, like I've seen on other space heaters.

The photos make this fireplace look MUCH more attractive than it actually is. The outside is very nice but the flame pattern is not even close to the photos.

The flames actually only go up about 4 inches from the bottom and are very hard to see, even in low lighting. As a matter of fact the reflection off the bottom shelf is easier to see than the actual flame pattern itself. And this reflection would disappear as soon as you placed the stones on the shelf, which I will not be doing because I am packing this thing up and sending it back asap.

Also the photos make the unit look much more "flush mounted" than is possible. Looking at the photos you see a SMALL shadow around the outside lip of the unit, but all together this thing sticks out from the wall over 6 inches. And you can't set it into the wall because it vents to the sides and top so it would be a fire hazard.

This unit is especially disappointing because we have two other electric fireplaces in the house already, and we are VERY happy with those! The other units are the free standing kind built into fireplace surrounds.

The second star is only because the unit is very attractive from the front, but in the "off" position!

We were pleased with this product. We bought it for our bedroom and it puts off a nice ambiance. It looks just as it does in the picture, but I do agree it sticks out a little bit further than expected. We initially thought we would recess it in the wall, but the heater blows out the top so that is out of the question. It would not prevent me from buying it again.

It doesn't put off a ton of heat, but it will get the room (with the door closed) cozy after it's on a bit. The flames are sufficient. It comes with a remote control which can be used to dim the flames or make them brighter.

I would purchase this product again. It would be perfect for a 3 seasons room or bathroom with soaking tub.

In my effort to find an attractive "space heater" for my kitchen I found this item. I do like it and it is serving its purpose. That said, I found it a little beat up upon arrival but something I could repair myself. Secondly, the unit really needs to be placed on a wall that is only seen from the front side as it protrudes a bit from the wall which makes it unattractive if you enter the room seeing if from a profile. My remedy since I did not have a wall as described was to corner it. I built a corner support unit so it is properly suspended off the floor. I think they should offer one for purchase for those consumers who would like this but need to corner it.

Honest reviews on Concord Electric Fireplace Heater with Remote

Love the look this wall fireplace adds but not much heat from the product. It seems that all the heat goes up and we never quite feel it. Love the ambiance it creates.....our guests do compliment it's presence! Happy customer

This hose is extremely useful when coupled to the matching 8" blower. I use it to exhaust smoke, fumes, etc. from my garage when I'm wood or metal-working. The flexibility means that I can put the blower anywhere and direct the suction to where I'm working. There are four rings sewn in to the outside that can be used to suspend the hose (or hold it to a wall or floor).

On Halloween, you can fill the duct with white lights and make a 20' long glowing orange worm or path marker.

I love this product.

I bought for my work and my priority to get something small and non disturbing with no fire hazard were met 100%.

However, If you want to heat the whole room rather than your working area, this heater may not be sufficient for the purpose.

Best Deals on Homebasix CYPB-7 Mini Oil Filled Radiator, 700 Watts

As the title suggests this is a lower wattage unit than most which I like as it uses less power especially when first turning on. Less chance of tripping breakers that are close to limit. This heater works fine for small spaces which is what its designed for.

Honest reviews on Homebasix CYPB-7 Mini Oil Filled Radiator, 700 Watts

After reading some of the reviews I thought I would give this heater a chance, I needed a small heater for a small half bath. This thing never warmed the room more than a few inches around the heater itself and it gave off a horrible plastic odor, this could be because the heated part rests on the plastic feet. I used it for a week thinking the odor would end, but it never did. I returned it, the company refunded my money and told me to dispose of or donate it and not bother to send it back. I can't see this product being good for anything except warming one's feet under a desk, but with the toxic smell, this heater won't even work for that purpose.

I used this in a small laundry room approx 8x10ft. I also have a desk in that room. It kept my legs warm but that was about it except I do believe it helps keep the washer water lines from freezing. My upper body is still cold. I like these oil heaters. I guess I just need a bigger one for this room.

I have used my insulated food carrier for over 15 years, so I guess last night's explosion in my microwave can't really be considered a serious problem. In fact, I love this system and use it very often. The heated core really keeps a hot casserole hot for quite a long time. However, beware when it overheats, first the cover puffs up alarmingly. I've observed this several times in the past. Last night, however, multitasking (like getting dressed to go to the party I'd made the lasagne for) caused disaster in the form of an exploded cover. I have heated it that length of time dozens of times, but maybe the cover eventually gets weaker? At any rate, try to keep your eye on it when you are heating the core if it puffs, turn the microwave off immediately and remove the core. On the really plus side there was absolutely no mess in my oven, and I went ahead and used the heated element to keep my lasagne warm last night!

This Hot Pack is really great! It stays Hot forever. It is much thicker than the one it replaced and seems to be made of thicker covering. The last potluck I attended I used it to keep my food item hot and when I left the potluck for home my dish was still hot, after 4 hours.

I purchased this as a replacement for the heat pads that came with my Pyrex Portables several years ago. The original ones were just worn out. These work great. They are slightly larger than the original ones but still fit in the intended slots.

I love these packets. I use them in my insulated carrier to keep food warm and also use them to keep neckwraps warm when my friends and I have a home spa treatment. I also put a hot packet in the insulated carrier to take to a football game and put it in my football seat cushion just before the game on a cold day. I bought this heater for my daughter's nursery. Her room is always a little colder than the rest of the house and I wanted to add a few degrees with a heater that was extremelly safe for children and absolutely quiet. I wanted a short heater that would be safe in case my child tips it over. Also, this one is small and looks nice in white. This heater did the job, even though I was doubting at first. We got rid of the initial smell by running the heater in the garage at full temperature for one day. This was specified in the instructions, which said that they cover the heater with some protecting layer for shipping. The heater was quiet for many weeks, and then one day starting making some noise. I discovered that it was due to some bubbles that were produced when my daughter tipped it over. The solution was to gently shake the heater a little, which I think removed all bubbles. After that, we haven't had any noise. The most important part is that we set this heater at lower heating, and that is enough to raise the temperature in the room a few degrees. This works very nicely for us because the heater is not too hot to the touch and it safe even if my daughter wants to touch it. In terms of the manual regulation, I think that there are some advantages. Electronic settings tend to break often, so having all manual settings will make for a more durable machine. To set the temperature, you have to wait until you feel the proper temperature has been reached and then lower the thermostat until it clicks. This is not as convinient as just setting a temperature with a number dial, and that is why I give only four stars to this review. On the other hand, sometimes is better to determine the right temperature by how it feels in the room betten than by what the machine says. Finally, regarding the timer setting, we don't use it that much because my husband prefers to unplug the heater when we are not home, but it seemed to me very easy to figure out and quite practical. You can set it every 15 mins on and off and all you have to do is move the little pegs in or out. Very straighforward.

Other reviews cover this well. It heats as well as I need it to, very small, compact, silent and it heats a 15' square room with no problem.

As others noted, it's kind of a pain not to have an "on" switch. You have to use the timer whenever you want it on.

This has the great quality that Zojirushi is known for. If you are looking for a good, well-made hot pot and boiler this is a great choice. Has a melody alarm to alert you when the water has boiled; you can select different temperatures to have it hold at, it has a slow dispense mode for brewing coffee using a single brew cone (coffee snobs might think it flows a bit too fast to allow for proper brewing), stainless steel means easy clean ups and with the magnetic cord, it is easy to plug/unplug and get the pot filled with water. It just works. Would definitely recommend. I purchased another one for my office.

I love this fireplace. I did a lot of shopping around to get the best price. (hint hint) I am very happy that the construction is metal, not plastic. It isn't thick metal but at least it's not plastic! The only assembly required is screwing on the legs (which ARE made of thick plastic but it is not obvious.) It's probably better for the floor that the legs are plastic so there is no rust or dents. The flame, logs, embers, and log holder all look surprisingly realistic. I was skeptical before I got it. There are 2 heat settings. It gives off a lot of heat. I have a big, drafty bedroom and it heats that place right up, even on Low!!! You do not have to wait for it to heat up. Instant heat. Very quiet, too. You can have the flame on with the doors open or closed, the heat on or off. The "fire" is behind a crystal-clear glass panel. The heat comes from the bottom of the unit. In my experience no part of the fireplace gets hot except the very bottom where the heat comes from. I am not worried about my kids or pets getting burned. My cat sleeps on top of it. It plugs into a regular outlet. No special cord, no 220 line, no professional installation. Just plug it in wherever you want it. Sweet.

This is one of 3 artificial fireplaces in our home...I prefer the look of them rather than a space heater...We have a large 105 year old home and the extra heat sources are needed in some rooms...This is my favorite looking one...I like the fire, but think the logs are a bit bright. You can change the bulbs and I may try a lower watt bulb when I am in the mood to change it. I read a review about it being metal...only a tin type back cover...but it is plenty sturdy. I really like the size. It is a bit bigger that some others of this style...There is no remote, but it's not a big deal to me. I like that you can have the fire on without the heat on. I also like the heat itself...low is nice for a bedroom. I eventually turn it off before going to sleep. I only gave it a 4 star review because sometimes it sounds like a cricket...with a bit of a low sounding chirping and it stops if I tap underneath where the heater box is. (maybe a squeaky fan) And also because the logs were to bright in my opinion...Overall I really like it. I looked at a lot of them before deciding and the price and style were right for me. Also came in 24 hrs for an extra $3.00 yes Three dollars...that was really nice, since I was hoping to have it before Christmas. I ordered it the morning of the 20th and it arrived the afternoon of the 21st.

This stove looks great and puts out enough heat in our great room that I eventually have to turn it to low.(about an hour or so) We have a high ceiling and a loft upstairs so there is a lot of area to heat. We have radiant heat flooring and it sucks the life out of our wallet using the propane every winter!! Thought we would take a chance on this stove after a lot of investigation of all types, sizes, prices and brands. My husband was very skeptical, but now he is happy that I am a very good shopper.

Some reviews complained that it was made out of plastic. Well yes, it is made out of a heavy duty type plastic which enables you to move the stove around if you need to. If it was made out of metal it would be to heavy to move. The stove weighs about 60 lbs. as it is. I put furniture pads on the feet so if I need to move it I can just push it on the hardwood floors to another location. The flame is realistic to the point that I want to go and throw another log on the fire!!

Order the stove, enjoy the stove.

Honest reviews on Fire Sense Fox Hill Electric Fireplace Stove

Arrived with a cracked frame. One of the reviews I read before purchasing stated that it is metal. The only metal I could find are the hinges. The entire body is plastic.

It makes a pleasant "fire". We put it in our bedroom and it keeps us mildly warm, we were hoping for more heat. It is OK, just not a +5.

The manufacturer refunded $20 for the cracked frame.

I have had this electric fireplace for appox. 3 months now. It is perfect for that little extra heat needed. I have it in my living room near where I usually sit and I am toasty warm. My furnace does not come on as often, even in our -20 below zero weather here in northern Wisconsin, I was never chilled. I have not had to bring out my electric blanket for extra warmth this winter. Great product. It is not metal but it is sturdy enough. The heat comes out from the bottom which will get your toes warm standing in front of it. My Grandson loves sitting in front of it in the mornings when he wakes up. I hope it lasts a few winters, I love it!!

We've had ours for one month after the cheapo plastic one died. I investigated multiple other high-end electric kettles, including Cuisinart, Chef' Choice, Krups, Braun by reading reviews on-line and comparing them @ the local bricks & mortar stores. The Breville is clearly the best designed one for the money.

Pros:

clean, beautiful design which is also easier to clean.

hefty, substantial base unit with place to wrap around the cord

boils quickly in 4 min. for full 1.5 L

more substantial kettle than more expensive models by Chef's Choice or Cuisinart. The Chef's Tools electric kettle @ the same price point looked flimsier. In fact, the floor model Chef's Choice kettle was no longer closing or opening its lid properly-always a bad sign when a floor model falls apart.

modest yet easily audible "ping" sound when the water has come to a boil, and the kettle shuts off automatically.

the outlet is easy to pull due to the hollow center design

Cons:

heavy kettle.

occasionally, there's a metallic taste in reboiled water if the water was left inside the kettle for several hours. However, the water tastes fine if you boil a pot from freshly filled water.

Overall, clearly the pros outweigh the cons. We're heavy users of the electric kettle, especially in the winter, boiling water for teas, soups at least 4-5x per day. We'll report back again in a yr after the warranty expires.

UPDATE > 1 yr after post (4/6/08): The Breville Ikon is still going strong. The water seems to be taking a slightly longer time to boil. We still use it 3-4 times per day, and it works well.

UPDATE 12/19/11: Kettle still going strong. We still use it 2-3x/day, and it still works great. Wow. Worth every cent.

While there is typically little difference between any two electric kettles, this one is at least at the top of the spectrum.

1. Being an extremely convenient home appliance "discovered" by the Europeans decades ago, and later in the USA, the electric kettle always left one concern: compared to its mundane predecessor it was typically made of plastic inside and out. Which could potentially mean various unhealthy substances emanating into the water from the plastic sides, especially at high boiling temperatures. This one is made of stainless steel and doesn't cause any such concerns.

2. The kettle can be rotated on its cordless base, which makes it easier to put it back on the base than some other models.

3. It has a transparent wall segment to measure water level. While this "window" is not located optimally (somewhat shadowed by the handle) and hasn't got a bright floating level marker, this design is sturdier than some others, and is less prone to leaks.

4. Blue back-light that goes on and lights this "window" when the kettle is switched on, is a nice touch. It both attracts attention and simplifies reading the water level.

5. It's easy to open the lid, and the opening is wide to add water with no problems or dripping. (In some models the handle partly covers the lid, making it hard to open and/or add water.)

6. Like in most up-to-date models, the heating spiral is NOT located inside the boiling case, but rather underneath it, which makes the design more relaible, and it is also much easier to wash the kettle inside if need be.

7. Time to boil is reasonable and not worse than average.

Best Deals on Breville SK500XL Ikon Cordless 1.7-Liter Stainless-Steel Electric

Truly a top notch product. I was tired of lukewarm water "nuked" in the microwave for tea or hot chocolate at the office so, after consulting other customer reviews for products under the "electric kettle" search, I took the plunge. A bit expensive, but worth it.

Pros:

1. Stainless inside and out. No plastic taste or chemical worries.

2. Very comfortable handle, nice curve to it, and totally insulated.

3. Cord minder on the base bottom; allows you to tailor the cord length to your needs. Cord very sturdy.

4. Separate base contains the cord. The kettle itself reminds me, from the standpoint of heft and size, of an "old fashioned" stove top percolator

5. The removable kettle itself; also, you can turn the kettle around to any point on the base; it doesn't have a notch or fixed position

6. Construction appears to be quite solid. Push a button and the top opens up automatically (not just a cheap spring, either). Glass center insert on top so you can see in; top is also domed to direct condensation back into the pot; haven't had any problem with water dripping onto the counter (or hand!) when opened.

7. Quick; heating just one mugful of water to boiling is easily faster than the microwave (same time in microwave will leave you with hot, but not boiling water).

8. Easy to clean; the opening is wide enough to get your hand in, and the top opens up to 90 degrees. There is a rod that runs up the inside, part of the temperature sensing system, but there's room enough to get a soft cloth behind it, you'd just need to avoid too much force. Cleaning, however, is not a big deal overall if you use it for its purpose heating WATER only (don't heat your soup in this; it's not made for it).

9. Looking at other reviews, it seems that some people like to fill the kettle via spout rather than main opening spout is nicely sized to easily allow this, if you want.

10. The water gauge is big, well marked and very nicely lighted, thus easy to read.

11. Automatic turn-off at boiling temp, and also has a function to avoid boiling dry (The boil turn-off feature kicks in about 30 seconds after you can see the water boiling; I haven't personally tried to boil it dry, so can't comment on that feature). There's a nice, but soft, single "ding" that it makes when it turns off. You might not hear it from another room, but it shouldn't damage itself by boiling dry, so even if you miss the ding, it's not a big deal.

12. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but to mine its lines are clean, simple and elegant. Should fit with just about any decor. Fingerprints on the outside stainless haven't been a big issue; wipes clean with damp cloth.

Comments (not "Cons"):

1. Regarding another reviewer's comments about weight, it does have some "heft," but on the other hand, it has a good capacity! To heat one or two cups, it's handy enough. Stainless steel will be heavier than plastic, so if weight is an issue for you, you may wish to consider this point.

2. I wish the otherwise nice switch wasn't directly at the bottom end of the handle, but this really isn't a big deal.

3. I've seen reviews indicating that stainless steel pots get hot on the outside. This one probably does, too (if you put your hand near it after boiling, you can sense the heat). Well, the handle is perfectly insulated, and this is NOT an insulated device. I wouldn't put my hand on the outside of any "regular" metal pot or pan (steel or aluminum, like those found in any kitchen for daily cooking)that had a boiling liquid in it, so I wouldn't do that with this type of device, either!

4. Reviewers of other kettles have suggested that the device may leak if water is left overnight. Have not had that problem with this, but then again, we empty it at the end of each day.

5. Have not had any problems with rust, as has been noted with competing products, but see comments in #4, above.

Before purchasing, I looked at the competition in stores, and a friend has "another leading brand" competetor; this seemed superior to the others in virtually every way (particularly build quality, the others I'd seen seemed rather "cheap" despite their price). Definitely recommend; this is a winner in our office; several people have already bought their own!

Honest reviews on Breville SK500XL Ikon Cordless 1.7-Liter Stainless-Steel Electric

First off, Amazon's part in this was excellent. The product arrived in good shape and ahead of schedule. The kettle itself was well-designed and of excellent quality. There, however, is where the problem started. On opening it, there was a heavy, oily smell. This is not unusual for steel items, so I went about boiling a couple of kettles as recommended in the instructions. After the sixth time, the oily smell was still present, and was strong enough to contaminate the tea. I even tried boiling a water-white vinegar solution and leaving it overnight according to the instruction to no avail. Finally sent it back a process which was painless and quite easy, by the way.

I recently bought this product, which has performed flawlessly so far. But two things I've noticed are valuable pieces of information for those planning on buying an electric cordless kettle, I think: First, the water gauge is behind the handle, which means you can't see the water level as you're filling the kettle, since you're holding it by the handle. This problem is not unique to this kettle, but it is an annoyance. I've learned about how much water it takes to fill my 16 oz. mug (a count of five), so I don't need to try to look at something that's underneath my hand as the water is running from the faucet. Maybe they're assuming you're going to be using bottled water and won't need to be holding the pot as you're filling it! My other caution is the very large, dripless spout. The dripless part is great, and it is truly dripless. However, it's also very large, so that a TREMENDOUS amount of hot steam escapes as the pot heats up. You really need to move the pot out completely away from any walls or cupboards or the steam will quickly ruin the finish. But if you move the pot out toward the edge of the counter, the hot steam may burn you, you spouse, your child, or your cat who suddenly decides to jump up on the counter. You really need to stand by the pot as it is heating up if you have pets. I have also noticed that our hard water is already leaving deposits on the bottom of the pot in just a few weeks, but that is my cleaning problem, not a problem with the pot. Another reviewer pointed out that the beautiful brushed finish does not stay beautiful very long no matter what you do, and I have to second that, but it doesn't bother me that much.

Interestingly, I bought another cordless kettle at Target about the same time, a cheap chrome one by Aroma, for my office. That pot, though smaller, does just as good a job for 1/3 the price, and the finish has stayed nicer. The smaller spout does not release as much steam. But it doesn't LOOK nearly as cool. Ha.

And here's a comment apropos of nothing: why can't the makers of these kettles make one with a stainless steel LID? If we don't want a plastic pot, why would we want a plastic lid? It boggles the mind. But try to find a decent pot with a stainless lid.

A gorgeous piece of furniture that is also a functional heat source. You'll never mistake the flames for the real thing, but the pure efficiency and low maintenance more than makes up for it.

I was a bit hesitant when I ordered this since I could only rely on a photo and a very brief description of the item and its features. Since I have Amazon Prime this 100+ pound fireplace shipped FREE and it was delivered in less than one week from the time I ordered it which was a huge savings on shipping alone. Combined with the fact it was already deeply discounted, it proved to be a major savings in more than one way. It arrived in two separate boxes, was very nicely packed with everything undamaged. The instructions could have been a bit more detailed but overall the assembly was manageable even for one person (a woman) to accomplish with relative ease. All parts were present with extra dowels, screws, etc. nicely packaged and clearly marked. I had it fully assembled in about an hour and a half.

Once assembled and turned on, it provided an extremely realistic flame and glowing logs along with digital temperature and timer and several settings for flame height and log glowing intensity as well as several timer options. Best of all, there is a remote control that allows you to change settings without having to get up. Also an extremely quiet blower that delivers toasty warmth to the room. It delivers warmth in relatively quick time and can be used without heat to add the ambiance of a flickering fire, and the heat can be used without the flame too.

This item exceeded my expectations in every way. The wood is a rich and dark brown with a nice patina, the slate is realistic in appearance, the antique bronze tiles add a nice touch and the overall look is imbued with understated elegance that compliments my traditional styled living room. I added an antique clock to the mantel and it is simply stunning! I now want to spend my time in a living room that once was hardly ever used.

To sum it up, it delivers a lot of features and quality for the price and the free shipping made the deal even sweeter! Thanks Amazon!

Easy to assemble, and it has exceeded expectations as far as function. We turn it on at night, as it has a nice white noise sound (but it is not "noisy"). Warms our entire master bed and bath, which are large.

I bought this for a cat bed for an outside feral cat that has adopted me. She sleeps in the garage and I put this in her bed when it gets cold out. It warms up nicely and does get soft when it's warm. I don't think it really stays warm for 12 hours. Usually I check on her around 6:00 in the morning and it's already started to firm up again and is only slightly warm, but that could be from her sleeping on it. That's the only disappointment I have with this product, is that it really doesn't stay warmer longer. However, it is definitely better than that round microwavable disc that I bought last year. The cover is tough and easy to clean. As an inexpensive bed warmer, that doesn't require any electricity, I do recommend it.

I purchased this for our new cat to keep her warm during the winter nights but I don't think it's what I was looking for. It just doesn't hold heat long enough. I warmed it up at about 9:30 pm (it doesn't get squishy, the stuff inside goes form rock hard to liquid, nothing in between)and placed it under a towel that was folded into fourths length-wise in the hope that it would be more comfortable and maybe stay warm and soft a little longer. At 7:00 in the morning it had hardened and I could just barely feel the slightest amount of heat when I put my hand directly on it. The cat loves it when it's warm, I just wish it had lasted longer. It's also not big enough, you'd need two to make a full platform for the cat.

I bought these because I have a feral cat colony. I have used the round hard disk ones for a couple of years and just love them but thought these might be more comfortable.

They do not hold the warmth for more than about 3 hours. The other ones hold it all night. Really a waste of money if you are going to use them for longer periods of heat. I tried heating them for 8 minutes which is double the average time and still they just don't hold the heat for long. I will buy more of the original ones.

After one month they are leaking around the seams. I do not know if that stuff is poison or not but I feel it is not safe. They are going in the garbage and I can't get a refund according to the refund policy.

Honest reviews on K&H Microwavable Pet Bed Warmer, 9-Inch x 9-Inch

I purchased this product about a month ago. Following the instructions, I heated it by minute increments to get the proper amount of time to get it squishy and warm. On my microwave it was 8 minutes. It feels like a liquid gel on the inside. There is a slight plastic smell on it but it goes away after a few days.

I bought two, one for each of my cats. One really is too small for a normal sized cat to lay on, maybe just one half of their body. At first my cats were hesitant because of the water sloshing sound and the smell of it but now they are used to it. My cats sleep with me, so I just tucked it under the comforter where they laid by my feet and they snuggled up on it. Like other reviewers have noted, it doesn't retain heat for 12 hours as advertised. In fact, it starts to cool within two hours and hardens into a brick by morning. I swear you can whack someone with it, how hard it is, haha. Anywho, it was a decent enough product in my eyes, until it started leaking. I'm not talking burst open and flooded out the contents or anything, but a slow ooze that shows up as a ring around the edges. At first I thought maybe I put it on a wet plate in the microwave, but not true since it didn't feel damp. I changed the bed sheets a couple of times and each time I noticed a greasy square shaped stain from where the warmer was. Gross. Luckily it seems to wash out in the laundry, but stillI paid over $50 for the two of them and shouldn't have to deal with a greasy heating pad. Too bad I just missed the return deadline. :(

I purchased this for our adopted feral at my office. Even though we are in Florida it has been really cold, so I thought this would be perfect for her outdoor shelter. So glad I tested it first. Followed the instructions and it only stayed warm for 2-3 hours, tested it again same result. BTY, I tested it indoors, so outside it would not have stayed warm even that long.
