We purchased this heater as a replacement for a gas wall heater that was disconnected by the power company many years ago, deemed unsafe to operate. The Cadet 4000W was professionally installed, requiring both a carpenter for framing and sheetrock, and an electrician. The heater required a separate 240V feed, which was branched off of the dryer circuit. The Heater was easy to install and works very well. We have approx. 850sqft home in Bay Area, CA. This heater is capable of heating the entire space, but we usually keep a couple of rooms closed off. We had been using 1250W space heaters, the Cadet is a huge improvement, no more blown circuits. It heats the space quickly and is fairly quiet. We did our own heat-loss calcs and decided on the 4000W unit. We also liked that it has a two pole thermostat which means it can be switched entirely off. The one weakness is in the thermostat that is mounted in the cabinet, it does not seem to be very sensitive, but is adequate. For more $$$ it would have been possible to purchase and install a remote wall mounted digital thermostat. We decided on Cadet since they have recently made significant quality and safety improvements. The price may see a little high, but compared to other forms of built-in heat it is a good value.

We replaced a broken heater with this new one, and really like it. It has three heat settings (as opposed to just having a thermometer to set it at the temperature), and the cord is longer than the one we had previously. Works great!

(*****Update 7/14/12: Wanted to update my review on this and other 15K BTU units. I've been running them for two seasons now in several of my family homes and rental units. They are holding up VERY well. On the Frigidaire they are proving to be quite reliable and hearty. Also to note, the build quality this year seems to have slightly improved over initial models with fewer incidences of rattle and other defects. Last, the price premium has fallen. I would now give the Frigidaire 15K units 4 stars and have even started using it as my workhorse in larger rentals. *****)

This is as big as you can go with 110 volt plug. It takes 12 AMP of power, so whatever circuit you plug it into will likely have little room for anything else (think entertainment center, microwave, etc.)

Beware of window height. Some window styles won't open high enough Check yours.

Pain to install. Takes me 2 people and 45 mins every time I do one of these big boys.

Cold? Oh yes. It's the full 15,000 BTU. A mighty blizzard compared even to the 12,000 units. It will cool whatever room you put it in and probably the adjoining ones too.

Loud? Compared to others on the market today yes. Compared to even 5 years ago? Not really.

If you've got the window to fit it in and the significant wad of extra cash to pay for the size premium, the only concern I would have is 1) noise and 2) shipping. (This unit's box is just too much for one poor delivery man whereas the smaller box for the 6/8/10/12K BTU units is manageable).

3 stars because I think it's overpriced and find Frigidaire of avg. quality.

Also to consider... here's the review I gave on another model that is relevant to this one:

------------------

Between family and rent houses I put all types and sizes to the test every year in the scorching Texas sun. Here's my experience:

If you want a solid window air conditioner, it really boils down to two choices: Frigidaire and LG. The current "sweet spot" on reliability/price/economy is the 10,000 BTU unit regardless of make/manufacturer.

Recently they've been making 12,000 & 15,000 BTU 110V (normal plug) units.

-The 12000 BTU truly is 20% stronger, but you pay 50% more here on Amazon.

-The 15000 BTU is a snowball tossing beast, but it's in a larger case that may not fit your window (height-wise) and doesn't have a long history on the market so we don't know how it will do long-term

LG Pros The 10,000 BTU LG is my "workhorse". Best value. Run them till they fail in 4 to 7 years, then swap `em out for another.

1) Better warranty (but really, who cares when it breaks because you're sitting there sweating)

2) Typically last an additional 2-3 years over other brands

3) An LG rarely just stops running it will degrade slowly over a season

4) They are more tolerant of neglect (e.g. dirty filters... can't rely on tenant to care for your stuff)

5) Better withstands being placed in harsher environments (direct sunlight, restricted airflow)

6) Lower "lemon" rate

Frigidaire Pros For family I prefer to run 12,000 & 15,000 BTU Frigidaires. They are a little nicer, and I consider it worth it even though they always break sooner. (Value and reliability aren't as important, but I do have to compensate by keeping a new boxed spare around because they always fail at the most inopportune moments. Most people can't do this.)

1) A little nicer looking

2) Better features

3) Quieter

4) Slightly easier installation

5) Circuit surge/drain on startup seems significantly less (think lights flickering when compressor comes on)

Other parting thoughts:

1) A thing to know about newer units: To obtain the higher EER (efficiency) ratings, they use finer design on heat exchanger fins. For the non-experts, this means smaller little spaces that get jammed up with dirt/mold/whatever resulting in a clogged/filthy/poorly operating unit much-much faster than your parents' old units. Appliance repair stores can service your window unit every year (clean it of filth) that will extend life by at least 2 years and sometimes much more. Of course this costs anywhere from $50 up, and the units are cheap, so it's your call whether to service or toss it.

2) The 10,000 BTU Frigidaire here on Amazon is a good buy w/Amazon Prime shipping. For other higher BTU models, as of this writing you'll be paying more but also know that right now with the national heatwave most box stores are sold out so you may not have a choice.

3) Something this heavy is a risky ship (versus store pickup). It might be shipped wrong-side-up, or dropped, or whatever. It's a risk you'll run so do so knowingly. (I seem to have pretty good luck w/Amazon shipped items.) The risk is offset, however, by advantages of buying from Amazon (store would take forever, you'd have to load it and bring it home, have to have a vehicle large enough to carry it, etc.)

4) Clean. Your. Filter. Every. Week. It will keep your little ice machine healthy.

5) Different stores have different models from the same maker. If they are made in the same year, it doesn't seem to make a difference.

6) Tempted to go cheap like a Haier? Don't.

7) Tempted to buy a 6,000 or 8,000 BTU model? Don't. Get the stronger unit. It will cool down the room faster. It will not need to work as hard as a weaker unit and last longer. It is built with some stronger/better key components.

Good luck and happy cooling.

Warning: These are something of a pain to install. I got two of them, so on the plus side, I was an old pro for the second one. :) This is not one of those you can just drop into the window--you have to disconnect and remove the front, remove the outer shell, install the top bar, side runners (for the the expando deals to attach to), install the mounting brackets, install a spacer (if you have old wooden windows like me with storm windows), then install the unit into it and reconnect the front. Took me a few hours for each one, being careful.

On the plus side, they are powerful and do a great job cooling my 1600 sq ft first floor (with 10ft ceilings). Another plus is they run off 110 volt line, so you can plug them into regular outlets. On the other hand, they take 12 amps (rated, and I measured it). So you basically still need a dedicated 15amp circuit for these puppies.

Anyways, I also bought 3 of the smaller models--all have same operation, remotes. Very straightforward. I love the remote sensing feature--I can put the remote up higher and on the other side of the room and set the thermostat, and it is much more accurate that way (just buy some rechargeable AAA batteries to keep em going). I like the energy saver mode--these use that all the time, so it turns off once it reaches the desired temp and comes on as needed.

They are not quiet, but I doubt your bedroom is big enough such that you'd be sleeping with them; however, don't put them in the TV room--you'll have to turn it up loud. I planned on that and intentionally put them in the other rooms on the first floor--they keep the whole floor cool without being a bother that way. Actually, they may be just a tad too much for my needs, but not so much that it is a problem (e.g., no moisture issues).

The air filters are pretty standard; not hard to clean (like a dryer lint trap); it tells you based on a timer when to clean. Then you just clean and reset.

My only real criticism of these (and all like Frigidaire models) is that "eight way" vents are only so-so. I really want the cold air to blow up, but you can only get them at like a 20 degree angle upwards (if I had to estimate). Seems like most window AC units suffer from this issue, though. Not a major issue, but it could be better.

Anyways, they're energy star rated, but they're still going to cost you, especially in the hotter times, but hey, it is SO worth it! :)

Best Deals on Frigidaire FRA156MT1 15,100 BTU Window-Mounted Median Room Air

We have a 3 year old Frigidaire 22500 which is wonderful. It was an excellent inexpensive yet quality alternative to the Freidrich it replaced. When it was time to replace our bedroom a/c, I automatically drifted to the Frigidaire brand. Because it is powerful, the fan is quite loud on high; tolerable on low. It cools an attic bedroom which takes the sun all day because roof exposure is east-west. Use mostly at night. Cool-down from 90 degrees to 75 is about 10-15 minutes. Really! If during the day, the cool down is another five minutes. Great machine. Excellent price delivered.

Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA156MT1 15,100 BTU Window-Mounted Median Room Air

This AC unit is a great deal for the price. I purchased mine at Lowes. It's working great so far.

The only complaint I have is that when it is on Econ mode, it stays off for too long and the house does get a bit warmer than the set temperature. I think it has to do with where I have it installed, and not so much the components of the AC unit.

*** WORD TO THE WISE*** I have seen reviews saying that they cannot find the drain hole for the AC unit, and people are drilling them into the bottom do NOT do this! The AC is equipped with scoop blades on the fan. The fan scoops up the excess water from the pan and uses it to cool the compressor. If you drill a drain hole, it will not work correctly, and your unit will not last as long or be as efficient.

This is the second one of these I purchased. The first one I purchased from K Mart. I am on my second season with it. I saw this one at this price and I just had to jump on. I have tried a bunch of these types of heaters and I think this one is, if not the best, one of the best. It is the best I have tried. One of my main gripes about all other heaters I have tried of this type is temperature control or should I say a lack of it. This heater comes on when it's supposed to and turns off when it's supposed to. The others I have tried go well past the temperature you set it for and once they do shut off they let the temperature fall way below where you set it for before they turn back on. Either it's too hot or too cold. This R2 keeps the room dead on within a degree or two of where you set it. That to me is why I bought this thing in the first place. I want comfort not misery. This unit is quiet, it is so quiet at times, you can hardly tell it's on. The others talk the talk about even temperature in a room. This R2 walks the walk. I average about 2 degrees difference between the floor and the ceiling. No other heater I have used of this type even comes close. This R2 pulls the cold air off the floor starting at about 2 inches and has a fan strong enough to blow the heated air about 8 feet across the floor before it rises. That's in slow speed. That translates into comfort. This heater has 3 real power settings. Most of the others I have tried don't. At first read you may think so but most only really have 2. This heater has 2 fan speeds. The others I have tried only have one. This heater may be a bit more pricey than others but if it's comfort you are after, this one is a keeper. If you didn't hear me the first time I will tell you again. I just ordered my second. This one has stood the test of time and lived up to my expectations or should I say just about all of my expectations. The one thing I wish all these heaters had is a "Power Loss Memory". Just say you were away or just plain sleeping and the power went off. When the power comes back on, these heaters stay off. You could come home or wake up to a cold house. It wouldn't take much, maybe a battery and some small circuit changes, not a big deal. That's it for me. You decide! I have!

I bought this for a cat bed for an outside feral cat that has adopted me. She sleeps in the garage and I put this in her bed when it gets cold out. It warms up nicely and does get soft when it's warm. I don't think it really stays warm for 12 hours. Usually I check on her around 6:00 in the morning and it's already started to firm up again and is only slightly warm, but that could be from her sleeping on it. That's the only disappointment I have with this product, is that it really doesn't stay warmer longer. However, it is definitely better than that round microwavable disc that I bought last year. The cover is tough and easy to clean. As an inexpensive bed warmer, that doesn't require any electricity, I do recommend it.

I purchased this for our new cat to keep her warm during the winter nights but I don't think it's what I was looking for. It just doesn't hold heat long enough. I warmed it up at about 9:30 pm (it doesn't get squishy, the stuff inside goes form rock hard to liquid, nothing in between)and placed it under a towel that was folded into fourths length-wise in the hope that it would be more comfortable and maybe stay warm and soft a little longer. At 7:00 in the morning it had hardened and I could just barely feel the slightest amount of heat when I put my hand directly on it. The cat loves it when it's warm, I just wish it had lasted longer. It's also not big enough, you'd need two to make a full platform for the cat.

Best Deals on K&H Microwavable Pet Bed Warmer, 9-Inch x 9-Inch

I bought these because I have a feral cat colony. I have used the round hard disk ones for a couple of years and just love them but thought these might be more comfortable.

They do not hold the warmth for more than about 3 hours. The other ones hold it all night. Really a waste of money if you are going to use them for longer periods of heat. I tried heating them for 8 minutes which is double the average time and still they just don't hold the heat for long. I will buy more of the original ones.

After one month they are leaking around the seams. I do not know if that stuff is poison or not but I feel it is not safe. They are going in the garbage and I can't get a refund according to the refund policy.

Honest reviews on K&H Microwavable Pet Bed Warmer, 9-Inch x 9-Inch

I purchased this product about a month ago. Following the instructions, I heated it by minute increments to get the proper amount of time to get it squishy and warm. On my microwave it was 8 minutes. It feels like a liquid gel on the inside. There is a slight plastic smell on it but it goes away after a few days.

I bought two, one for each of my cats. One really is too small for a normal sized cat to lay on, maybe just one half of their body. At first my cats were hesitant because of the water sloshing sound and the smell of it but now they are used to it. My cats sleep with me, so I just tucked it under the comforter where they laid by my feet and they snuggled up on it. Like other reviewers have noted, it doesn't retain heat for 12 hours as advertised. In fact, it starts to cool within two hours and hardens into a brick by morning. I swear you can whack someone with it, how hard it is, haha. Anywho, it was a decent enough product in my eyes, until it started leaking. I'm not talking burst open and flooded out the contents or anything, but a slow ooze that shows up as a ring around the edges. At first I thought maybe I put it on a wet plate in the microwave, but not true since it didn't feel damp. I changed the bed sheets a couple of times and each time I noticed a greasy square shaped stain from where the warmer was. Gross. Luckily it seems to wash out in the laundry, but stillI paid over $50 for the two of them and shouldn't have to deal with a greasy heating pad. Too bad I just missed the return deadline. :(

I purchased this for our adopted feral at my office. Even though we are in Florida it has been really cold, so I thought this would be perfect for her outdoor shelter. So glad I tested it first. Followed the instructions and it only stayed warm for 2-3 hours, tested it again same result. BTY, I tested it indoors, so outside it would not have stayed warm even that long.

Blows about as much air and as much heat as if you'd propped up a small hair dryer. About as LOUD as a hair dryer, too.

Things unclear in the picture:

The adjustment allows you to swivel it on the bar in that position, not change its position on the bar.

It's tiny. It's about the same size as two hair dryers, side-by-side, and almost as loud.

It does make warm air, but it does so VERY LOUDLY.

Did I mention it's LOUD?

If you turn one on to take a relaxing bath in a warm environment, this is loud enough to startle you each and every time it pops back on, from over six feet away.

For about the same price, you can get a Vornado Vortex Heat Whole Room Compact Portable Electric Space Heater EH1-0025-01, which is nearly silent, and does the same job in about the same amount of space, with MORE air flow. Silly me, I shoulda bought another one when someone 'borrowed' my heater and never gave it back.

This heater really moves the air and puts out the heat. Great for warming up your feet and the chair your sitting on. Heater is lightweight and very quite for how much air it moves. Don't buy those cheap heaters for $20, their loud and only last approx. 12 months. Buy this one for many years of warm feet during those long winters.

I bought this for my green house last winter. It took me a little time to figure it out, but It worked for my 6 x 8 green house. The thermostat on it does not regulate the temperature on it the way I wanted it to. After trying to get it to work for me for quite a while, I finally bought and external thermostat to do that job. Now it works great. The only issue I have now is when the temperature drop close to 0 it has a hard time keeping up. I will work with it some more. In the mean time I am using it to warm colder rooms in my house while I am working in them. Works Great!

I bought this product in an attempt to replace a fireplace. The fireplace was worn out and the replacement cost was 10k which I wasn't going to pay. this product appeared to be a decent replacement for the wall and would throw a little heat. But product flaws resulted in a product return.

Pros: The flame looks really good. It has that fire mesmerizing effect. You can stare at it a long time and it keeps your attention. It isn't burning wood but I think it's better looking than gas.

Cons: In my opinion, in order to look good you need to mount it IN the wall at least partially as it is shown in the Yosemite videos on Youtube and that's where the trouble starts. If you mount it ON the wall as the skimpy manual describes, the front just hangs in space 6 inches from the wall and looks kinda weird. I didn't like that look. Maybe it would be ok on a far wall or a recessed wall area but in my room the fireplace is on an exterior wall that also contains the entrance door. I don't want to be able to see the ugly metal box behind the front every time I enter the house.

But mounting it IN the wall appears dangerous to me because the heat is sourced from vents in the bottom. I can't figure out how to mount it in the wall in a safe way to allow the hot air to circulate through the unit. I suppose you could mount it in a sheet rock lined enclosure bigger than the box and mostly covered by the face plate but without any guidance in the manual on this, I'm worried that I would be creating a fire hazard.

The bottom vent is open, the heating element appears to be accessible, and seems that a young child could stick their hand up and burn themselves pretty easily if you mounted it on the wall as required 50cm off the floor.

The controls on the box are on the side which is another problem if you want to attempt a flush mount. The remote worked 50% of the time and I couldn't figure out where the receptor was to get it to work more consistently.

If you are tempted to put it in just for looks and flush mount it, beware, because the controls are on the side you are only going to have the remote to control it, and since you can't disable the heater, you might press the wrong button on the remote and turn on the heater while it is embedded in the wall. There is no visual indication of the heater setting except on the side mounted control so the first indication that you made a mistake might be smoke from your house burning down.

Bottom line(s): Look at the photos that show it mounted on the wall and decide if you can tolerate that look before you buy. Do not be confused by the "insert" Yosemite fireplaces shown in the video. If you have young children I wouldn't purchase this unit due to the bottom vent design.

Nice flames, good modern look, quick shopping and it even has sound. I am very happy with this purchase. The only downside is it must be mounted on the wall not in it because of the location of the buttons. Still looks good.

easy to install

Cons:

A bit subjective but the flame did not feel that real or "warm" even though it was a lot nicer than units that were in a lower price point

Did not have the heat output that my room needed, I don't think it could easily handle 200 square feet as specified

Heater quality lower than expected. Gas was leaking, heater is very unstable and wably, did not work (no gas coming out of the burner), contractor checked the heater as well and confirmed to send back. But what to expect for this price. Next time I go to a patio furniture store and see myself and by the high quality stuff, even if it costs a couple of Dollar more.

I was under the impression that it would identical to the one that we had previously purchased, the photo that we saw appeared to be of the one we had. The lower part which surrounds the tank is dull, the one we have is shiny. Also the control and method of starting the heater is totally different which make for also to remember which was which. The original one is easier to start, this one requires a pilot to light first.

Whether I used a regular mop and bucket, my swiffer wet jet, or my hoover steam vac, I always ended up with a haze on my hardwood floors that I would clean off with a wipe or furniture polish. This is the first machine that leaves my floor shiny and without a haze. It is worth it just for that!!! I also like the job it does on my lineoleum. The first couple of times I used it on what I thought were clean floors because I had recently mopped them, I was surprised at how dirty the water was. After using this as my primary means to clean my floors (two maybe three times a week depending on traffic and what is going on in my household) I notice that my floors not only look cleaner, but also feel much cleaner on the few occassions when I am not wearing house slippers. This is so much better than the regular mopping.

I have read other reviews on the flip-it regarding water being left on the floor; when that does happen, I just go back over that section so that it will be taken care of. For the most part I don't care about a little water on the floor because I would have so much more if I had the mop and bucket or used my steam vac. I am sold!

I was torn between the Hoover and Bissell models each seemed to have good and bad points. So I got both, with the idea that I'd return the one that was less capable to do the job. What I found was that both have different pluses, and ended up keeping them both.

The Spinscrub has the advantage in cleaning power. The spinning brushes do a better job on getting tile floors clean, especially rough surface tile. It's also more sturdily built feels more solid (although that sometimes does not translate into longevity). It's the one I use for large tile expanses, such as in the kitchen and basement. But, the 15 inch width is a drawback in tighter spaces, such as bathrooms.

The Flip-it excels in maneuverability perfect for getting around obstacles (such as the toilet). Although it lacks spinning brushes, it has the advantage of a cloth pad which does a great job on smooth surfaces. The heat also helps out, especially with sticky messes. It doesn't turn the water to steam, but clearly kicks up the temp (I believe the spec's say 25 degrees).

I found the best way to use it is to start with the cloth pad attached. That helps even out the water distribution and also helps capture crumbs, pet hair, etc. After one pass with the cloth attached, remove it and put in the scrubby pad. That helps get the floor 99% dry (smooth surfaces) or 90% dry (rough surfaces).

The cloth pad really shines (no pun intended) when it comes to hardwood or laminate floors. Does a far better job than the Hoover in cleaning and water suction. I don't use the Hoover at all anymore on smooth floors regardless of the size of the room. It may take a bit longer with the Flip-it due to its smaller size, but the end result is much better.

Both are about equal when it comes to disassembly and cleaning a few parts to take out and clean, but nothing major. Cleaning the unit after using it is very important to keep the crud out of the seals to prevent leaks and clogs. Both have a washable filter, and both require that you dry the filter before using it again (tip get an extra filter so you're never without a dry, clean filter).

I tend to favor the smell of the Bissell cleaning solution, but the Hoover stuff is pretty good both have a nice "fresh" smell. Both brands clean equally well, and are priced about the same. Lowes carries the Bissell brand; Walmart carries Hoover (at least in my area).

Bissell tends to be a nicer company when it comes to support. They offer replacement parts and supplies on their website at reasonable prices, and answer emails if you have questions. Hoover is not as responsive, and their direct-purchase prices are rather high.

One nit with the Bissell is that the cord is rather stiff wish it was more flexible. Also, the water cups (both clean and dirty) are smaller on the Bissell, so you need to fill-up and dump out more often than with the Hoover.

Regardless of which one you get, get one! You'll be amazed at the amount of dirt that wet mopping leaves behind. Once you start using one, you'll never pick up a mop again.

I used the Bissell Flip-It Select for the first time tonight. I detest mopping, but with a combination of both linoleum and tile floors in my house, it is a must. So in looking for an alternative to mopping, I hoped for the best with this product. I was not disappointed. Vacuuming first with the dry vacuum side is an excellent alternative to sweeping the floor. After using the wet vacuum side with the heated solution/water mixture, not only was my bathroom linoleum (which had a thick build up of sticky hairspray) cleaned marvelously, but also my tile kitchen floor. The unit is lightweight and easy to use. The filter did get clogged with dirt and hair, but the sound of the motor changed when the suction stopped, so I unplugged it and cleaned the dirty wet/dry container and filter, put it back together, plugged it in, and suction was completely restored. I am extremely satisfied with this purchase after only one use. I will recommend it to friends and family alike.

Honest reviews on BISSELL Flip-!t Select Hard Floor Cleaner with Heat, 7340

This machine is so easy to use! I love the option of cleaning my tile floors with heat or no heat, depending on the grime! The mop pad works very well on my sealed hardwood while the brush worked excellent on my grout! I didn't have to go over anything twice and my floors looked great when I was finished! The "flipping" action is also very easy as this machine is lightweight! I love not having to use a mop and bucket and its even better now that this product offers heated cleaning! Great job!

I have carefully analyzed all the reviews (positive and negative) before deciding to buy this product in order that the right level of expectation may be set. My need is very simple. I have almost all hard floors in my house, either tile or hardwood. So floor keeping is a relatively low maintenance chore. I know Flip-It serves both as a dry vacuum and wet mop. Knowing that both dry and wet debris are going into the same place and I want to eliminate the messy task of cleaning out the wet gunk, so I opt to use the cleaner solely as an electric mop.

I like the idea that while it is mopping, the machine can also take care of the small amount of debris that I missed in my "pre-mopped" vacuuming. It does take some practice to get the machine to do the job right. Although I don't have the problem of puddles of water as other have experienced, I have other issue such as the cleaning pad kept sliding out. I find the maneuvering quite exhausting due to the squeegee design. Also, my finger gets very tired from squeezing the solution release button. I don't find the cleaning result dramatic perhaps because my floors are normally quite clean. The machine will not get to the wall edges so it won't eliminate manual laboring. I'm also not sure if the heating feature does anything to produce a cleaner floor since the water temperature does not felt very warm. After two days of experimentation, I decided that the machine is going back to the store. For light mopping, I am going back to my Swiffer Wetjet. It is cheaper, quiet, lighter, easy to use, and best of all, no cleaning up required.

First I have to say the shipping on this was awesome! I do have Prime and expect good shipping from Amazon, but this arrived the next day after an afternoon order! Beyond my expectations.

The fan itself is very good. I gave it a 4 star rating because I had to do a lot of re-trying in order to get the battery connection to work. It comes disconnected to save battery life, which is good, but the first few times I connected it after charging, it didn't work. It seemed to charge OK, but it didn't work off the battery. So if you get this, don't give up on the battery connection right away.

The air flow is good and what you'd expect for a 6". I wanted it for my car to keep my dog cool so the air flow is good and won't be too much for her. I'm running it now at about 6' away from me and the breeze is effective.

I'll be trying it out in the car on a high heat day this weekend and will come back to update this review on how it worked.

Update on June 6, 2013. So it stopped running off the battery. I had to drop it down to one star and can't recommend it. It's really hard to find troubleshooting support on it too. It works fine plugged in so I'll continue to use it that way but now I need a new battery powered one.

The first fan I received was deffective, but was replaced within just a couple days with a new one that is spectacular. I take it bowling with me and it works like a charm. Holds it's charge much longer than expected. I recommend this to everyone and

anyone.

The first charge I put on this fan it worked for about 5 1/2 hours. The battery went dead so I plugged it in to charge it again. The charging light kept going out. It wouldn't take a charge after the first time. I sent it back and got a full refund.

My husband needed a cordless fan for use during dialysis and it seems to work well for that. He keeps it on low for the most part.

I'm very pleased with this small space heater, mostly because the thermostat works quite well. On the last "inexpensive" heater I had, the thermostat was practically useless, and I finally decided to get a new one as I couldn't keep an even temperature. This unit is solid, attractive, warms quickly, and maintains an even temperature. My only criticism is the bright red light on the front when you plug it in. This makes no sense to me -the light should go on when you turn it on, not be on the whole time it's plugged in. So first, there's no way to know if it's on or not if it's not blowing air, and second, the light is much too bright at night. I had to put a piece of paper over it to dim it.

Review of Cuisinart® 12-cup Coffee Maker - Black Chrome Series

Cuisinart® 12-cup Coffee Maker - Black Chrome Series

I am VERY picky when it comes to coffee makers and have trouble finding one that doesn't make the coffee taste like plastic. This one works fine for me. I owned a DeLonghi before this one for about 6 years and the new DeLonghis have suffered a setback in quality as far as I am concerned. I returned about 3 of them. The minor flaw in this coffee maker is that the water gauge is on the inside and it is a little hard to tell what the level is. It is also a little tricky to pour water into. That wasn't enough for me to return it though, since the coffee tasted great!

I purchased this coffee maker 4 months ago and it has worked wonderful so far. This is the 3rd coffee maker I have had in the last year. It told me last week to clean it and I did. Makes wonderful coffee set to my taste, and stays as hot as I want it to. Looks sleek and beautiful on the cabinet. Only drawbacks are you have to pour slow so you don't dribble (but only when I rush) and clock can't be seen in dark so I keep it unplugged when not in use. I hope it lasts as long as it is warranteed for but would take 2 years.

* P.S.: It is now Dec2010 and I have had NO problems with this coffee maker for 3 years. When it finally does break I hope the new ones are just as good because I plan to buy another when needed. Even with a couple of drawbacks listed above it is the "Best Coffee Maker I've ever had".

* P.S.S.: It is now Dec2012 and still no problems with this coffee maker. Love, love, love it. Just have to clean it a couple of times a year and works great. I broke the pot and ordered a replacement.

We bought this coffee maker less than 2 years ago. For the past few months, we babysat it to restart it during the brew cycle. Now it is completely kaput. In researching other coffeemakers, I see that most manufacturers have at least 10 percent 1-star reviews, many because of the short lifespan of the product. After having a Braun coffee grinder for 25 years and prior coffee makers for at least 5, I expect more than a 2-year lifespan for something on which I spend nearly $100. We are going back to stovetop boiling and dripping into our own thermal carafe no coffeemaker involved.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart® 12-cup Coffee Maker - Black Chrome Series

I read reviews obsessively and couldn't find the combination of features and looks and color I wanted (I got this in white), and settled on this one.

I was worried about how difficult it would be to pour water in b/c of the placement of the well, but what you find out is that the Cuisinart pot is perfectly designed to sit on the lip of the well and pour the water on.

Wish the lid on the pot were attached with a lever, instead of being a pop on and off affair... and if I break the pot oi doesn't seem like a cheap replacement.

Small minus points for plastic knobs with cheap feeling little silver lines painted on which look like they'll get stripped off.. As mentioned the water gage is inside and isn't the easiest to read, you just have to measure carefully before you pour in no biggie. And small minus for the faintness of the LED clock, and that to program the machine, you have to click TWO settings, not one, but still I'm more impressed than I expected.

And Big points for style.

Oh and no plastic taste here.

This is the best coffee maker I ever had. I was reluctant to spend $80 on a coffee maker. After living with this one for 6 months now I can honestly say that I would have paid a hundred for it and still been just as happy.

I have seen many people who say that the water gauge being on the inside is a flaw in the design and they don't know how much water they put in. I do not understand this. I am 6'2" and can see the water gauge fine. That said, I never look at it anyway because I use the pot to measure the water and fill.

Another "flaw" that I read in many reviews referred to the place where you pour the water being too small. Not the case. It is not tricky AT ALL to pour in the water. I use the coffe pot to fill it and I have never spilled a drop. I don't have to be particularly careful to get the desired result, either.

This is a great coffe pot and an excellent value for the money. It makes a GREAT pot of coffee!

UPDATE 6-25-12

I have now had this coffee maker for about 3 years and still love it just as much. It's a great coffee maker!

Still going strong!
