I bought this because it was cheap and I was using a borrowed one at the office (where the a/c blasts whether we need it or not). I got it yesterday and it kicks the big green Black and Decker I was using's butt. With the other one I had to keep it on the highest settings. This one is smaller and it can either be upright or laying down. I keep it laying down (seems more stable that way). I run it at the low power setting and at medium heat setting and it warms up better than the other one did. I JUST READ OTHER REVIEWS ELSEWHERE THAT IT CAN BREAK AFTER A FEW WEEKS. So remember when you read this review that I've only had it for a day and a half. I'm loving it but I'm cautious about buying one for home. I'll wait and see how this one stands the test of time.

So far:

It is QUIET,

It is POWERFUL,

It is SMALL.

I got this heater second hand from a thrift store about a year and a half ago and it has outlived two similar yet more expensive heaters that I purchased brand new. The thermostat works great so makes it a good option for a bedroom. Its very lightweight but the housing is sturdy. Ours has been knocked around quite a bit during our move, being dragged between rooms, not to mention the abuse it probably sustained while at the thrift store. I highly recommend this heater and will likely buy another.

Good for a small bedroom close by. Not so good for a larger living area. Seems to take longer to heat up room than previous heater I had but that heater was 2x the size so probably not fair to compare

Honest reviews on Floor 2-Setting Heater

This heater is everything I wanted. I keep it under my desk where it does a great job without disruption. I also think it was the least expensive offered. Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend.

I've had this heater for at least 5 years and last week it finally died on me. Needless to say,I'm buying another one. I recommend this heater for home, as well as, office. I initally used it in the office then took it home during the winter months to try it out and hopefully cut down on some of my heating costs. I NEVER took it back to the office! It works well on those nights when it's not bitter cold and you just want some heat to be cozy underneath a blanket. I always say, if something works, stick with it.

Hi Everyone,

Here is an update from my last post. I spoke to who I believe, is the owner of the good4u company and we had a good conversation. She has checked into the problems I was having and is taking action. A third party who is a raw food equipment supplier suggested to me that with the growing popularity of dehydrators these types of growing pains can happen. I tend to agree with him.

The construction of the good4u dehydrator is probably not as sturdy as the Excalibur but there are several features of this good4u dehydrator that I like better than the Excalibur and I hope that I can resolve this issue and find a solution.

One of the things I like about the good4u unit is that it does not need a door and you don't have to rearrange the food or move the trays for even dehydrating. The sides of this unit are solid so there is no hot air flow coming out of the sides as with some other units. It is also less expensive. I will keep you posted.

My wife an I like to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire. Previously we lived in an area where we could have a real fire and just relax. We recently moved to a restricted area where we could not burn wood. We purchased this pit because it was the largest of the portable units (most camp areas around here have burn bans during summer droughts). We were pleasantly surprised at the inital quality of the unit (only time will tell on actual quality) The paint has a thick enduring feel and the weight seems substantial.

We have so far found that on a mid 60*F night we only turn the pit on less than half way. At full tilt it is more than a comfortable temperature.

Our only complaint is that the images are clearly photshopped. The flames that we get at full are about a foot tall. We do not get any of the two foot flames that are pictured. the flames are proportional to the size and more than adequate for us. I will post pictures when we fire it up this weekend.

I purchased one of these portable outdoor fire pits and love it. I use it on my patio in Pacific Northwest evenings and it's always the center of attention. My friends and family love it because we always end up outside longer than usual. Setup and teardown is quick and easy. The rocks that come with the unit cool down very quickly I can box it up 10 minutes after turning it off. It pumps out heat (way more than I expected), and 1/2 a standard size propane tank lasted for multiple hours at the highest flame setting. There is zero odor or smoke it's very clean burning. The hose length is more than ample to keep the propane tank a safe distance from the flame, and out of the way of chairs to surround the fire. I can without hesitation recommend this product.

We recieved this fire pit a few days ago and we love it! We have had fire restrictions since June 18 in our area for open campfires. A friend of ours got a similar product, but we decided on this one instead of one like theirs. We are so glad we did. There is very little odor (if any} from the propane burning.(and I could smell theirs) It is great not to have any smoke to run from! We have been burning it on the lowest setting and it is perfect for us. I'm sure when it gets colder we will want to turn it up some, but it still puts out good heat on low. If you are just a few feet away it really looks just like a wood campfire burning. We would recommend this fire pit to anyone wanting an alternative to the wood campfire.

Honest reviews on Heininger Outland 5995 58,000 BTU Portable Propane Outdoor Fire Pit

We've tried a few different wood fire bowls and friend's houses and always came away smelling like a chimney. We considered getting a chiminea as well, but those can be finicky and take up a lot of space. This propane fire bowl seemed an ideal solution and after breaking it out during a recent snow storm, we're pretty satisfied.

As another reviewer stated the bowl is actually black, and not the polished bronze that's pictured. They really need to fix the picture. While it didn't make a difference for me, I'm sure some people care more about their decor than I do. It's also smaller than a comparable wood fire bowl. The pictures lack context so this is hard to discern, but it may be a good bit smaller than you expect. Great for portability, but I wouldn't try to get more than 4-5 people around it.

The bowl assembled very quickly and within 10min or so I had it hooked-up to my extra propane tank and away we went. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference in terms of flame size between the High and Low settings (neither came close the picture), but either way it puts off a good amount of heat without all the nasty smoke and there is a discernable flame, which is nice.

So far we're happy with the purchase. We'll see if it stands the test of time. Would give it 5 stars, but the wrong bowl color and somewhat misleading flame in the picture and I'll call it a solid 4.

Received this a few days ago at a vacation home in Jackson Hole.

Set up was a breeze. It appears to be well made and the metal is reasonably thick. burner control is nice, reminds me of a Weber. A big feature that should be included (but is not) is an ignitor! Bending over with a lighter or match is a little awkward and did put my bearded mug a little too close to the initial flames in my opinion.

We have a bulk LP tank with a quick connect for our existing BBQ so I ordered an extension hose with quick connect end, removed the LP hose that came attached to this unit, attached the quick connect an voila! a nearly unlimited supply...though I suspect without some diligence our gas bill could be hefty.

Unit is sitting on a wooden deck which was a concern for me. The wood below the fire bowl is slightly warm to the touch after burning on high for about an hour. The appears to be about 3" of clearance which doesn't sound like much but seems to allow any radiated heat to dissipate.

Another complaint is the color. It appears to be brownish or perhaps rust online. The unit arrived black.

Sitting here below the Tetons as the sun sets this unit is keeping the chill at bay.

I needed the temperature in my baby's room to stay the same even though we're in a small apartment. This really did the trick. It looks great is very compact compared to other ugly large heater humidifiers AND it is both a heater and humidifier so even when it warms up in there it does feel so dry. It also has a tip over feature, which or safety is great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I wish you could operate the humidifer separate from the heater but you can't. Can't have it all I guess. Oh, and we have a modern looking apartment and this fits right in!

We bought this because of the humidifier feature. However, the humidifier is very hard to fill (You have to pour it in at a trickle), and the reservoir is tiny. Fortunately, neither of these things are really a problem because it takes weeks to even produce enough humidity to go through that tiny amount of water. I think you could literally just leave out a glass of water and it would evaporate faster than what this thing puts out. DON'T waste your money buying this. The heater is totally adequate, but you can find one just as good without the humidifier for one third the price. Buy a separate heater and humidifier and you'll still come out ahead and you'll have a humidifier that actually works. Seriously. I never take the time to write reviews, but this thing is a joke. Save your money!

Best Deals on SPT SH-1505 Ceramic Heater with Humidifier

I bought this heater for my husband who suffers from arthritis. He likes is extra hot in the room so we were using a space heater at night. However he started getting bad nose bleeds from the hot dry air. The SPT SH-1505 Ceramic Heater with Humidifier has stopped the nose bleeds altogether. I can feel the humidy in the room and the heater works well to heat a room. I would recommend this product.

Honest reviews on SPT SH-1505 Ceramic Heater with Humidifier

As others have noted, filling the humidifier reservoir is confounding because one must poor so slowly. Plus, humidifier consumes full reservoir of water on low setting if run overnight. Moisture/humidity not appreciably better. "Thermostat" is nothing more than a manual switch which allows high/low/off settings.

On the plus side, the heater seems to fire up quickly and the fan is very, very quiet---almost imperceptible.

I've concluded that getting separate humidifier and heater is probably a better way to go.

The heater works real good, but the heater has to run for the humidifier to work. So can't run it on high as it will shut off, but found out on low it runs all the time so I run it on low to get heat and humidity.

The other reviews cover everything else nicely, except:

1. The difference between the model 6200 and the 6000 is that the 6200 has a stainless steel skin, while the 6000 is black plastic. The innards and wattage are identical.

2. If you purchase this with 1-click ordering, you'll miss out on free shipping. Grrrrr. To avoid spending an extra $9.00 on postage, use the checkout cart instead, then change the shipping method to "Free Shipping"

3. If you want an excellent overview of induction cookers, look up the topic in wiki-pedia.

4. (Updated 8-2011). Someone in the comments below asked what the wattages are: When the "Power" mode is selected, Level 1: 200w. 2-500. 3-800. 4-1000. 5-1200. 6-1300. 7-1400. 8-1500. 9-1600. 10-1800w. When the "Temperature" mode is selected, the ranges (1-10) are (in degrees F): 140, 180, 210, 250, 280, 320, 360, 390, 430, 450.

5. (Updated 11-2012). I had not used the "Temperature" mode at all. A friend came over for Thanksgiving with his bacon/watercress soup (thick) and needed to re-heat it. After messing around with the "Power" and "Time" settings, he finally chose "Temperature" at 140. There was much less stirring, and no fussy regulation of a flame (all to avoid burning the soup on the bottom of the pan). He was mightily impressed, and since he is an excellent cook, I was mightily impressed too. Reminder: his excellent soup pot was aluminum, and so it would not heat at all (Error "E0" in the display, after two seconds). We loaned him a nice cast iron Le Creuset pot and all progressed smoothly. Remember that any pot that attracts a magnet will work, and that excludes all aluminum and most stainless steel. Furthermore: the traditional cooks swarming and crowding the kitchen stove on Thanksgiving were just as glad to have him and the induction unit out on the patio, and out of the way.

Please click the "helpful" button if any of this was useful. Thanks.

I have only had this unit for a few days, so don't know how it will hold up over time, but it works like it's supposed to, and I'm very happy with it so far. I'm not thrilled, however, that the price has dropped by $20 in the few days since I bought mine! Like others have said for others of the induction cooktops, the heat is concentrated in the center 4" of the plate, but this is not a real problem for boiling water, etc. And, if using a pot/pan that spreads the heat well, such as iron or pots with a thick clad bottom, it seems to mostly work out ok for other things. I had a problem trying to make an omelet, but maybe if I heat the pan slower and then add the eggs, the heat might spread out to the edge of the pan better (scrambled omelet wasn't bad, however). It might not work well for everything, but for most everything I've tried so far, it worked fine, and doesn't heat the kitchen up a lot. My 3 different sized steel pots with steamer inserts worked fine 2 are Tramontina (from Walmart I think) as did my iron and iron-enamelled pans, so I probably won't need to buy any pans especially for this cooktop.

After 5 months my unit is still working fine, and I use it for most of my "stovetop" cooking. I wouldn't mind a finer control for very low temps, but the 10 settings provided work pretty well for most everything. For a few things I switch back and forth between setting 1 & 2 or 2 & 3 mainly things like hot toasted sandwiches (which I cook in an iron fajita skillet, with a 2nd skillet on top to weigh it down). I found that a silicon potholder (got mine from Target) works great to put under the pots to protect the cooktop from scratches. I haven't noticed that it matters whether the pan is perfectly flat (maybe the potholder underneath helps this?). Also, the manual says not to use the cooktop on a metal surface because the magnetic heating may heat the metal surface underneath, but I put a large wooden cutting board (about 3/4" thick) over the 2 LEFT burners (oven heat exhausts through the RIGHT rear burner on my stove) and put the Burton cooktop on top of that to cook and have not had any problem with the stovetop underneath becoming warm. I don't do huge amounts of cooking, so with this one on the left, along with the small and large regular burners on the right, I have all my cooktop needs met. I use this, my microwave, outdoor grilling, and a toaster oven & crockpot which I use outside on the porch, to minimize kitchen/house heat from cooking during the summer, which of course is very helpful in Texas.

(Note that there are some very informative reviews for the Burton 6000 model which are relavent to induction cooktops in general.)

2nd update: This unit has performed flawlessly for over a year now. I use it frequently to boil water for when I wash dishes by hand hot water heater is far from the kitchen and no matter how high I set it the hot water is just not hot enough. So, I lowered the thermostat to 120 deg and just heat a small pot of water to add to the dishwater. However, I do not use this burner for some things, such as deep frying, and it doesn't work with my old-school Corningware which I like to use for some things, like making jam, so I would not want a stove with only induction burners; a couple of each would suit my needs better.

Best Deals on Max Burton 6200 Deluxe 1800-Watt Induction Cooktop

... for your learning dollars, that is.

Had this for a month; free-shipped, it arrived intact and within a very reasonable time. Manual is brief and to the point.

Works fabulously with simple time-proven cast iron cookware, but don't expect omelets to come off whole easily might do with enameled cast iron which I do not have. It is great to have minimal heat dumped into the house when you are paying for your air conditioning and it is 90°+ outside. That it worked just fine with some of my older cheaper stainless steel pots that didn't pass the magnet test was a pleasant surprise. I plan to move it to the back porch before I try my heavy-flavored grill-pan fried fish!

Took away the 5th star since (a) heat is so localized over the center that it charred stir-fry veggies and burnt the thin-gauge pan when I got a bit over zealous with the power settings and (b) the temperature preset increments are too far apart for my liking. It shouldn't be a big deal to have more numbers of and more uniformly spaced steps since the controls are all electronic. I would use cast iron cookware exclusively unless heating a liquid, -the thickness helps distribute heat more quickly and evenlybut you will want to be extra careful of the delicate-looking ceramic cooktop surface.

All in all, a great inexpensive tool to learn induction cooking and what to look for before you plonk your money down for that big-bucks 4 or 5 element full size induction cooktop kitchen upgrade. I am happy with the purchase.

Honest reviews on Max Burton 6200 Deluxe 1800-Watt Induction Cooktop

We finally moved to the country where I can have a huge garden, but I almost panicked when I saw how much food I was going to have to put up. Our little chest freezer is no match for it, and my dehydrator can only handle so much and is not good for everything. And DH likes "variety," meaning he grumbles if he has to eat the same thing two days in a row, so I knew I'd have to break down and do some canning. But the thought of adding all that heat on top of our Georgia heatwave was unbearable.

This Max Burton induction cooktop is a godsend. My Fagor 10-quart pressure canner works perfectly with it, and the best part is that I can bring it up to pressure with FAR less heat than electric or gas stoves put out. I just listen for it to come up to pressure, then with just a few clicks adjust the temperature down to maintenance level, set the timer, and walk off and leave it. When the time's up, the burner shuts off, and the heat is instantly OFF. This makes canning so easy and so much cooler that I find myself doing it more often. I can cook a big batch of something for dinner, then can the leftovers without it being a big ordeal. So happy DH, and I still have the economy and time-saving benefit of large-batch cooking. Cleanup is easy.

Another thing, too, is that I'm getting older and more forgetful (or maybe it's because I have a whole lot more I have to juggle now as a "country wife"). I've actually burned up pots on the stove that I've forgotten about while I was busy trying to do six gazillion other things. It's a lot harder to burn down the house when using this cooktop. :)

Other than the induction-ready cookware issue (not a problem for me), the only caveat I'd give potential buyers is that this really needs to be on its own electrical circuit. Our old house has few outlets and iffy wiring, so I do not even attempt to run the microwave and the induction cooktop at the same time because they are on the same circuit.

This induction cooktop has really changed my life. I think everybody ought to try cooking this way. It's got to be more energy efficient. But beware: Once you've familiarized yourself with an induction cooktop, you probably won't want to cook on anything else.

I bought this induction cooktop for my Mom instead of a standard cooktop because I liked the concept of the surface not staying hot after you take the pan off in fact it automatically shuts off when you take the pan off. She loved cooking with it for the past few months, but then it starting giving error codes and not working last week. We have contacted Max Burton customer service as it is past it's return period for Amazon. Initial response from Max Burton indicates good customer service. I'll update once we see how this all works out. Hopefully this failure is a glitch as the cooktop has only been used since mid-March of this year.

June 18 update. The replacement unit from the manufacturer arrived. Took a bit long to get the replacement unit about 3 weeks since we first contacted Max Burton. Return shipping cost of $20 was my responsibility.

July 8 update. The replacement unit from the manufacturer just quit. Less than a month of use and this new cooktop broke! I'm changing my rating to 1 star because of unreliability.

This was given to us as a gift, and I never thought it would be used. How wrong I was. Particularly on a cold winter day the warm lotion feels great on dry skin, especially on the back. Much better than the shock of cold lotion on the skin. It only takes a short time to warm up, you can adjust the temperature of the lotion, and the dispenser works well. I recommend it.

I'm a real weinie when it comes to being cold. I live in the mid-Atlantic so January and February can be bitterly cold. I decided to splurge on this to help avoid my typically chilly routine. Normaly, after I shower, I slather myself head to toe in lotion. Summer, winter, etc., I *always* lotion-up after bathing. I've used hundreds of products and go through them pretty quick.

Good:

It works! I've only had for a week or so, but it seems to heat up to a yummy temperature pretty quickly.

Bad:

IT DRIPS! If you leave it in one place too long, undisturbed, you'll come back to a lotion stalagmite. It's rather big, too, I can't find a place to put it on the sink in our bathrooom plus, of course, it leaks so it can't be over say, the toothbrushes.

Maybe other people have had more success; it'd be nice to hear from them. Overall I'm mostly happy with it so far, but that runny lotiony nose just isn't very attractive.

I live in the Rocky Mountains where it gets cold and dry, so I always always lotion down after a shower. I was given this lotion warmer and it is wonderful! It heats enough lotion to get a full body application, unlike one of the other less expensive Conair lotion warmers.

Three things though. First, it really needs to be thoroughly cleaned each time it's emptied. Second, the warmer doesn't penetrate far enough into the dispensing unit, so I have a full week of cold lotion application to use what's in the bottom so I can get it emptied and cleaned. Finally, I've used it so much that it finally quit working, so I went online to buy another. Holy Cow this thing is expensive!! I'll try a little harder the fix the other one, but will most certainly be buying another one if I can't.

I manage several buildings that feature these, They are very common in apartments and they work very well. Lots of heat, pretty low noise, and they take up very little wall space; just don't place furniture too close to them and vacuum the grill out once a year. These are often run by a wall thermostat; over-riding the built-in one.

I have Cadet wall heaters in my apartment. One of these 2000 watt units in the living room, two 1000 watt units in the 2 bedrooms.

As far as I can tell, the thermostats are useless. Just as an example:

I have one of the 1000 watt units turned on in my bedroom right now. The room is 68-69 degrees. If you turn the thermostat all the way down to shut the heater off, and then turn it up until the heater turns on, it turns on at about 62 degrees. If you then turn it down until the heater goes off, it turns off at about 54 degrees.

That's an 8 degree swing. And the setpoints are WAY off from the actual temperature in the room.

I don't understand why I don't see a lot of complaints on the internet about this kind of heater. I don't think it's just Cadet, I think it's the particular type of thermostat, no matter who the manufacturer. I believe these are what are called "bimetallic" thermostats. As far as I can tell they are utterly useless. All they are good for is as an on off switch.

At least that is my opinion based on my own experience. If I'm missing something, someone please point it out to me.

Has anyone ever been actually able to control the temperature within a reasonable range with these? If so please speak up and explain how you were able to do so.

I chose this heater because I've used another one for 4 years with no problems. Other low-price heaters I've had lasted as little as 6 months. After 4 years of heavy use, the motor bearings rattle a little on start-up, but it still works fine. Excellent lifespan.

Good, small, low-power heater fan for a small room.

I use it for keeping my room slightly warmer than the thermostat temperature, and it works fine.

Bought 3 of these heaters from McDiarmid Lumber. I like the 3 heat settings plus fan and thermostat. They are relatively quiet. They are quite reliable compared to some other brands I've tried. Tried some Sunbeam fan heaters and 2 didn't work right out if the box nor did a third one. Avoid that brand!

I have owned single burners in the past for several reasons. They are nice to have when entertaining, especially around the holidays. Also, when I make shabu shabu, fondue, or a hot-pot dish, a tabletop burner is much nicer that using candles or alcohol-type burners.

I occasionally help out a friend at trade shows, demonstrating cooking techniques, and we always use single gas burners. I bought this one for when I need a slow, low heat for a long time. Gas burners need to have the butane canisters changed fairly often where this one plugs in and stays hot for as long as you need it. At home however, gas burners will be a great back-up during power outages where this one would be worthless.

I decided to show how this burner works by making this short video. I hope that it is helpful to you! Thanks.

EDIT: I am including this information about the boiling water demonstration by request: I used a heavy-duty anodized aluminium pan; the water was room temerature (72 degrees Fahrenheit); and the experiment was conducted at approximately 700 feet above sea level.

I have been using an Eclipse single for about 3 years now. Before that I used another Eclipse model but it finally quit working. Recently my latest Eclipse started acting funny and so I thought it was time to fund a replacement and while I was at it, I thought I would try to find a higher quality unit. The Waring SB30 was well rated and not too expensive, so I grabbed one.

My initial take on the SB30 was that it was very well built and sturdy. This is a great improvement over the Eclipse burners I have used in the past. My only complaint is that cord is fairly short, maybe 3ft long. The knob has a very nice and smooth action to it. The base is rather large but it is very stable with an 8qt stock pot on it, so I guess I can't complain too much about that. The burner weighs a lot. I believe most of that weight is from the metal burner itself. More on this later on.

I use this burner as my main burner as I live in a rental and the range is not so good. The burner heats up a little slow but transfers that heat to the pan very quickly. I believe this is because the burner has a lot of metal in it and that allows it to store a lot of heat. This is a very good thing for boiling water and sauteing but not such a good thing for cooking touchier foods like milk and sauces.

ONE YEAR UPDATE: The SB30 has performed great over the past year. I have not had a single problem with the burner, it looks and works like new. All in all I am very happy with it.

I've found the Waring Pro DB60 to be a solid double burner. I like the simple design with cast iron plates makes for easy clean up. The temperature control seems faster than other burners i've usedwhen turning down from 5 to 2 (high to simmer) The Waring cost more than other double electric burners on the market, but from the not convincing reviews of the others, and from using the Waring every day for several weeks i think it is definitely worth it.

I can't begin to say how THRILLED I am with this unit.It is, simply, the BEST, PROFESSIONAL, COMMERCIAL QUALITY unit you can find. I've had other, non-professional units--which never heat hot enough--which causes sticking-and soon stop working. The extra $$ for this unit are worth every penny.I had given up on others-and this was my last resort. These burners heat and stay HOT for even cooking and frying. I use this double burner ALL THE TIME for all types of stove cooking-in place of of my regular stove-which had died. I didn't want to purchase another stove now because we'll soon be moving. ( It does take a minute or so to heat up--not a fault--it's in the construction--because once it does reach

the temperature level you want--IT STAYS hot at that temperature.)This is the ONLY unit which gets hot enough to BOIL WATER and COOK PASTA --in a BIG POT, too--because large burner IS large....and QUICKLY.All the other units NEVER reach boiling temperature. This is because it's 1500. I, also, recommend this flat surface over the raised burner grids--which are hard to clean. These flat surfaces clean instantly. REAL metal-not plastic and substitute stuff--for easy cleaning and quality appearance. When we move and have a stove, again, I know we'll continue to use this

as an extra burner . This is the ONLY unit I would recommend over all those cheapie ones--whether they cost little or a lot.I don't write reviews very often-but just had to share and praise this one.

This is the second identical unit I've owned. The first one worked fine for about 6-8 months, then the temperature knob stopped working and I could only use it for 100% hot (5 on the knob) or nothing at all. Then it stopped working altogether.

The most recent one had a problem the second time I used it. I was cooking poached eggs and some water boiled over the pan. The burner shot sparks about 2 feet out the side and burned my wooden counter, smoked, and shot out another big spark before blowing out the electrical breaker. The company should look into these issues and fix them. The second one could have been really dangerous.
