We bought a similar unit on Amazon last year and love it. Easy to mount on the propane bottle and light

This unit looked the same and the price was similar so I thought it was the same. It wasnt. It's hard to mount on the can. I had to bend the brackets to make them fit. The attachment to the propane valve is not the easy external hand twist mount found in most bbqs. It takes a wrench and the treading is poor so it takes some work to get it started.

Once installed the self strarters don't light the burners correctly. You need a match. Carefully not to get too close or you will get burned.

My suggestion. Look around for another unit with rave reciews. I'm not happy at all. 100 products purchased on amazon. First bad review

As a heater, these are very good. Use them outdoors or in your garage or workshop with the door wide open. They are inferred heaters. They work by using a flame to heat a metal grate into the inferred range, which heats anything in it's path. That is a lot of heat in a small space. I have found that with regular usage, these heaters need to be replaced each winter.

There are certain conditions where these heaters seem to be the only type of heater which will work. They don't throw any flames out, and rarely throw a sparks out. They don't use any electricity. You can use these heaters at sea level or in the mountains (or the arctic). And they produce a lot of heat.

However, if used inside, they will suck all of the oxygen out of the air, which is why I gave them 4 stars.

(I don't need to hear that someone died because of my recommendation.)

Plus the heater heads will get very hot.

Any heater designed with these same principles by anyone will have the same benefits and drawbacks.

I recommend them, provided that you use caution when using them.

Reviewed and purchased this heater through Amazon. This two burner heater works great! I have a 1 burner radiant heater that caused us to huddle around it. This one puts our a lot of heat and allows everyone to stay a comfortable distance from it. Shipping was fast.

My wife an I like to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire. Previously we lived in an area where we could have a real fire and just relax. We recently moved to a restricted area where we could not burn wood. We purchased this pit because it was the largest of the portable units (most camp areas around here have burn bans during summer droughts). We were pleasantly surprised at the inital quality of the unit (only time will tell on actual quality) The paint has a thick enduring feel and the weight seems substantial.

We have so far found that on a mid 60*F night we only turn the pit on less than half way. At full tilt it is more than a comfortable temperature.

Our only complaint is that the images are clearly photshopped. The flames that we get at full are about a foot tall. We do not get any of the two foot flames that are pictured. the flames are proportional to the size and more than adequate for us. I will post pictures when we fire it up this weekend.

I purchased one of these portable outdoor fire pits and love it. I use it on my patio in Pacific Northwest evenings and it's always the center of attention. My friends and family love it because we always end up outside longer than usual. Setup and teardown is quick and easy. The rocks that come with the unit cool down very quickly I can box it up 10 minutes after turning it off. It pumps out heat (way more than I expected), and 1/2 a standard size propane tank lasted for multiple hours at the highest flame setting. There is zero odor or smoke it's very clean burning. The hose length is more than ample to keep the propane tank a safe distance from the flame, and out of the way of chairs to surround the fire. I can without hesitation recommend this product.

We recieved this fire pit a few days ago and we love it! We have had fire restrictions since June 18 in our area for open campfires. A friend of ours got a similar product, but we decided on this one instead of one like theirs. We are so glad we did. There is very little odor (if any} from the propane burning.(and I could smell theirs) It is great not to have any smoke to run from! We have been burning it on the lowest setting and it is perfect for us. I'm sure when it gets colder we will want to turn it up some, but it still puts out good heat on low. If you are just a few feet away it really looks just like a wood campfire burning. We would recommend this fire pit to anyone wanting an alternative to the wood campfire.

Honest reviews on Heininger Outland 5995 58,000 BTU Portable Propane Outdoor Fire Pit

We've tried a few different wood fire bowls and friend's houses and always came away smelling like a chimney. We considered getting a chiminea as well, but those can be finicky and take up a lot of space. This propane fire bowl seemed an ideal solution and after breaking it out during a recent snow storm, we're pretty satisfied.

As another reviewer stated the bowl is actually black, and not the polished bronze that's pictured. They really need to fix the picture. While it didn't make a difference for me, I'm sure some people care more about their decor than I do. It's also smaller than a comparable wood fire bowl. The pictures lack context so this is hard to discern, but it may be a good bit smaller than you expect. Great for portability, but I wouldn't try to get more than 4-5 people around it.

The bowl assembled very quickly and within 10min or so I had it hooked-up to my extra propane tank and away we went. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of difference in terms of flame size between the High and Low settings (neither came close the picture), but either way it puts off a good amount of heat without all the nasty smoke and there is a discernable flame, which is nice.

So far we're happy with the purchase. We'll see if it stands the test of time. Would give it 5 stars, but the wrong bowl color and somewhat misleading flame in the picture and I'll call it a solid 4.

Received this a few days ago at a vacation home in Jackson Hole.

Set up was a breeze. It appears to be well made and the metal is reasonably thick. burner control is nice, reminds me of a Weber. A big feature that should be included (but is not) is an ignitor! Bending over with a lighter or match is a little awkward and did put my bearded mug a little too close to the initial flames in my opinion.

We have a bulk LP tank with a quick connect for our existing BBQ so I ordered an extension hose with quick connect end, removed the LP hose that came attached to this unit, attached the quick connect an voila! a nearly unlimited supply...though I suspect without some diligence our gas bill could be hefty.

Unit is sitting on a wooden deck which was a concern for me. The wood below the fire bowl is slightly warm to the touch after burning on high for about an hour. The appears to be about 3" of clearance which doesn't sound like much but seems to allow any radiated heat to dissipate.

Another complaint is the color. It appears to be brownish or perhaps rust online. The unit arrived black.

Sitting here below the Tetons as the sun sets this unit is keeping the chill at bay.

I did a ton of research and bought a few heaters before this one but I'm most happy with the Vornado. The first two I bought were digital ceramic heaters. I have to recommend against getting a digital heater. Each time you turn it on, you have to push several controls to get back to where you like it, with this heater, you just turn it on. The only thing that kept me from buying it first was cost and the fact that it had no ceramic element which theoretically was a safer element than an electric coil. We use it in a few bedrooms that are not freezing cold but uncomfortably cold. The other great feature is it'll run on lower power and only use as much wattage as is needed to heat the room. My other heaters would run full blast till it hit the desired temperature, then turn off, repeat over and over. The trouble is, heaters will use about as much power as must rooms have available so if you have anything else plugged in, you'll throw the circuit breaker, which happened over and over for me. A 1200w heater (which is common) will use over 10Amps. That's a TON of power. The Vornado will run and heat just fine on a low power setting using about 5A max and less if less is needed.

Here's a summary of what I like:

Pros:

Plastic grill never gets hot to the touch why do others use metal ?

Only uses the power it needs to gives your electric panel a rest

Much easier to use than digital heaters don't buy digital !

Compact and stable on the floor

Well built many heaters are absolute junk

Cons:

Expensive for a space heater

No ceramic element which MAY mean it could spark easier

When running on high, I noticed a buzzing noise in the fan but not during normal use

This heater is exactly what I needed. I've had it for a few days now, and it works perfectly.

I primarily wanted a heater that would work with an external / plug-in / wall timer. You know, the thing with the dial. So many heaters have a "timer" which is actually just one-time automatic shut-off, so you still need to turn it on, and set the timer, each night. I wanted something that would turn on and off at specific times of day, and there aren't many if any.

This heater has three rocker switches for power, heat level, and fan speed; it has a dial for temperature. There are no toggles or digital settings or anything. That means you can cut power to it, then restore power, and it's right back to where you left it -same temp setting, everything. I have it plugged into a heavy duty timer rated for 1875 watts.

Beyond meeting that specific requirement of mine, this is a great heater. It delivers on its promise of even heating. It circulates the air very well, and automatically adjusts both fan speed and heat output. Much better than heaters that simply cycle. It's also very quiet -I didn't believe its "whisper-quiet" claims, but it's true.

One step down (VH2) and you lose the automatic fan and heat level ("A" is for automatic). One step up (DVH) and you get digital, which probably won't work on a timer.

I can't believe all the bad reviews for Vornado heaters. My wife bought one almost 10 years ago at a garage sale and we've used it every night during the winters for years. I took it hunting and hooked it up in the back of a pickup truck in the winter at 10 degrees outside, we slept on top of the sleeping bags in our underwear. We bought the VH2 a few years back and use it during the winter in another room in the house. We keep the house at around 64 degrees at night and have one heater for the entire upstairs 4 bedrooms. It raises the temp a couple of degrees and you can tell the difference the moment you go downstairs. The other in our family room, over a crawl space, keeps the room very comfortable even on the coldest nights AND it's an open room about 14 feet wide and 35 feet long. Just angle it in the general direction and you'll feel the difference. THIS IS NOT A WHOLE HOUSE HEATER! It is a space heater which means heating a relatively small space. It cranks out hot air quickly but it's going to take a while to make a difference in a big room. In the back of a pickup truck in the middle of winter it was like a sauna so we had to keep turning it down. In a house with 8 foot ceilings and large rooms don't expect it to do more than heat up the general area. Defects aside these things are in my experience safe for kids and pets (no RED element, COOL to the touch) and reliable. I still like the old one but after all these years it is starting to make an occassional noise. I'm buying another one and putting that old reliable in my basement.

Bottom line is despite the bad reviews on Vornado it's the only brand I've had good experience with. Holmes isn't very good. I've got one in a 7 x 5 bathroom that really barely heats up that room, putting a Vornado in there would likely peel the paint off the wall. We keep our costs down by running one in the family room where we spend our time, then one for our upstairs at night. Since hot air rises you don't lose any down the steps and you can close doors if you only need to HELP a couple of rooms.

Honest reviews on Vornado AVH2 Whole Room Vortex Heater, Automatic Climate Control

Pros: Solid construction, safe around my cats (not likely to be knocked over, and little paws are safe), heating element not visible in a dark room, high/low setting, can be used as fan, heats up my room better than my cheaper (but reliable) holms heater.

Cons: It doesn't feel anything like my car heater on max setting.

Noise. On the high setting it reminds me of a locast swarm a mile awayon the low setting it's even louder. Durability: unknown.

I would give it five stars if half the price, but I don't think it's a great value for the money.

*edit* after one year the unit started having problems. It will overheat within seconds of turning the unit on and shut itself off. The work around is to run the fan first before turning up the heater control. I believe that this is a problem with the power supply that is built into the unit not providing enough wattage to simultaneously start the fan and run the heater; if you start the fan first the problem is avoided (a fan draws more electricity when starting than once it's running).

I bought this a couple of years ago to carry from room to room in our leaky 1908 house in Oregon. It does everything it claims to do: heats the room evenly, quickly and has great settings for automatic temp control. We even moved it into the chicken coop when the new chicks were trying to stay warm and it managed to keep an uninsulated building several degrees above the outside temp. Still, the one complaint I have is that the heater fan never turns off. Instead, it constantly 'sniffs' the air with a low circulation setting. I assume it is gauging the temp of the room so it can click back to full force to re-heat the room. In this way it keeps the room even, but I do find the constant sound of the circulation fan to be a bit distracting. Note that I work alone in a home office, so am sensitive to low level noise.

Nice compact, quiet, and safe heater. Puts out plenty of heat controlled by a thermostat. Auto turn-off if tipped but very stable. Fan can be turned on as well, but doesn't really make much difference, so it can be left off for silent operation. Can't imagine any other heater this size could be a better choice. It's about 3 feet wide, 6 inches thick, and 10 inches high. I haven't gone thru a winter with it yet, but it's obvious the heat it puts out will do the job.

Opened the box, plugged it into a kitchen outlet and waited, waited, waited for the thing to warm up my small kitchen. After two hours, I could touch the unit to warm my hands, but that was about it. Called KAS, only to be told I would be responsible for the shipping costs to return it to them, and it would take 4-6 weeks for them to send another. God Bless Amazon they paid the full return postage for a full refund on the unit.

This unit stopped working the first day of use. It has a shut off mechanism that cannot be reset by the user it needs to be sent back to the factory to be reset, which is more money and time than it is worth. Garbage!

Honest reviews on Honeywell Low Profile Silent Comfort Heater, HZ-617

My experience with this item was wonderful. It was silent and distributed a decent amount of heat. I used it to heat a room that was about 9 x 12. I kept the door closed and the room was toasty.

The only down side is that it died in stages. But for the price I paid and for 4 years of use I would encourage others to get this item.

After buying a succession of cheap coffee makers which broke down after a year or two and made mediocre coffee, I decided to upgrade to Cuisinart.

I don't agree with the negative comments about this product.

The clock is easy to program and it's clearly indicated that you should either use paper or gold filter (twice in the instructions). It's also easy to pour water in the reservoir if you use the carafe. You can turn the coffee maker to the left, and the reservoir opening is easily accessible. Its opening is by no means tiny, as a reviewer described it.

The center funnel which holds the filter is well situated and there is very little risk of dropping coffee grounds into the water reservoir.

The carafe is well designed, with a comfortable handle. It pours neatly, without dripping coffee all over the counter, something which always happened with my old Mr. Coffee.

You do have to realize the lid snaps down on top of the carafe. This is not explained in the instructions.

Most importantly, it makes an excellent coffee.

There is a 3 year guaranty which is more than I have seen for others.

So far, I have no complaint, and I am glad I bought this product for a great price.

UPDATE: I am still using this coffee maker as of today, August 13, 2012. It's still working well though there are signs of wear. The carafe lid is looser and the cover hinge has a tendancy to stick. Otherwise, there are no problems.

My name is Ryan, and I'm a coffee addict... My habit ranges from 1 to 3 pots a day just to remain conscious. So you can understand the level of misery I have had to endure this past week as my 4 year old Gevalia machine met an untimely death during a recent lightning storm. I then began the hunt for a new machine. Basically, Amazon was my first stop since they have everything. I read all sorts of reviews, and finally settled on this one. I must say, this is by far the best machine I've ever owned.

In reading the reviews, I found a few gripes that I don't agree with, so here's my response to those:

1. The number one gripe I see is filling difficulty. The fill hole is much larger than my old machine. Some people said its too small and makes a huge mess. My first time, it did drip a little bit but if you leave the lid off the pot while pouring, works like a charm. Let me put it this way... I wake up in the morning with the jitters, like a fiend looking for some crack... If I can pour it without making a mess ANYONE can. And that's a fact.

2. Numero Dos: Programming difficulty. I'm no rocket scientist by any means, but I had this thing programmed within about 5 minutes. I had no problem understanding the directions. I believe most gripes in this area are operator error.

3. Basket issues: It doesn't stand up on it's own, true, but I don't understand how anyone could miss the basket. Leave it in the machine for pete sake! I hope they don't miss their mouth with that hot coffee! Again, If I can do it without making a mess, anyone can. As for choosing paper or mesh filter, paper of course filters better, but mesh makes it stronger and leaves a bit of sediment in the pot... each way has it's benefits depending on how you like yours.

4. Flip-top so large you have to pull it out from under the counter: True, but how lazy can you be... honestly? It's not that hard of a chore. You'd be hard pressed to find a machine that isn't like this.

I, like others, had some pre-conceived notions from negative reviews, but I found most if not ALL of those to be some pretty weak arguments. I guess some people have more problems than others when trying to understand directions and such. This machine is top notch for the price, hands down!

OH! And please look through all the comments, It's going on 3 years and I have given multiple updates as time has passed. I'm sure you will enjoy!

Best Deals on Cuisinart DCC-1100 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

Hello fellow coffee drinkers. Like most of you I have looked long and hard for a good basic coffee maker. In the last 5 years I have gone through 4 new products and have been quite dissapointed in this whole experience. I mean how hard can it be to make a good coffee maker. I had the basic braun coffee maker for 10 years and loved it. However, two new braun coffee makers later I realized that quality had gone down the drain with the coffee grinds. Then I purchased a krups. I returned it to the store within two weeks as it stopped working. They gave me a replacement which lasted just past the warranty. (figures) Then I tried a GE combo grinder brewer. That was the worst mistake I could have ever made. The first sign that it was garbage should have been when the GE emblem fell off. It leaked. It spilled. I spent more time cleaning than brewing, and thankfully it didn't last as long as its warranty and I had no intentions of getting another one free or not.

I have had this cuisinart now for three weeks. It does everything it says it will do. It never leaks, spills or makes a mess. As per the other reviews I feel it could have a bigger fill area but it really is no more difficult to fill than any other brewer I have owned. (don't let that stand in the way of buying this) I also think it is very easy to program and will even keep your settings in memory if it is unpluged for a short period of time.

This coffee maker works perfect and I hope it lasts as long as the warranty and beyond.

Happy brewing.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart DCC-1100 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker

To make drip coffee, a machine has to do just two things well -heat the water adequately, and disperse the hot water over the grounds. Oddly, most coffee makers fail at one or the other. This Cuisinart does both pretty well, which is why it is probably the best machine on the market right now under $200 (and the reviews at Amazon testify to that).

TEMPERATURE: The overwhelming majority of brands do not heat the water adequately -if the water at the grounds is only getting to 175-180 degrees, you will have sour, weak coffee. Ideal temperature is around 202-205. Using a digital thermometer, I measured the DCC-1100 at 197 in the filter basket, which is quite good.

DISPERSION: The second task is showering the hot water over the grounds somewhat evenly. Many coffee makers just stream it in from a mini-faucet, so they overbrew the grounds in the center of the filter and neglect the grounds around the edges. Result is weak, slightly bitter coffee. The very expensive Capresso machine has this problem -it heats water to nearly 200 degrees but delivers that water poorly. The Capresso, which costs close to $200, makes mediocre coffee (at least it did for us). The Cuisinart isn't perfect in this regard but it does have a "shower head" design that disperses the water pretty well.

One other tip, which applies to all drip machines: Don't start with cold water. Room temperature is good. You can do this by running the tap partly warm, or by pouring the water the night before and letting it get to room temp. It gives the heating element a much better chance of getting the water to a good brewing temp.

This coffee maker makes great coffee, is fairly easy to use, and is true red. However...when ordering they do not tell you that it uses a small charcoal type filter that needs to be replaced every month or two (depending on use) and that these filters are far from cheap!

Conair GS4R Compact Fabric Steamer Reviews

I spent several months researching garment steamers and could not decide which one I wanted price vs. quality and which brand was best etc. So I decided to buy an inexpensive one and see if I liked it. Well... I love it and I'm so happy I didn't spend $200 on one either!

I took my 20% off coupon to Linens and Things and was able to compare several models side by side and CAUTION!!! the much more expensive Sharper Image model is the EXACT same as this one just a different color! As far as I could tell, this table top model was the same as the pro models but without the extension pole and with a smaller water tank I mean, how long are you going to be steaming anyway?

When I got it home, it was easy to assemble just stick the hose in, fill it up with water and turn it on. It took a few minutes actually I realized I hadn't been paying attention and filled it way past the max fill line ooops but it still never overflowed or leaked. As soon as the water started boiling, it began to put out a lot of very hot steam. I was a bit worried that the hose was too stiff but once the steam started flowing, it became very flexible.

For all the people that did not like the short poles on the more expensive models, the over the door hanger was perfect. The steam handle hangs on it and it is a much better design for long pants or dresses.

I steamed a pair of curtains, a bed skirt, my comforter (still on the bed), a shower curtain, and a pilgrim outfit. I ran the steamer for about 30 min. and when I stopped, the water level had just made it down to the max line. My biggest problem was that I ran out of things to steam! I was having so much fun watching the wrinkles disappear from all my stuff!! I did steam my hand once or twice at first but I quickly figured out how to stop doing that!

I got this steamer for just under $25 and I couldn't be happier!

I love silk everything, so my dry cleaner loves me. Like many people, I take a boatload of items in every few weeks and hope they don't wrinkle again on the way home or in my closet ... the whole process is expensive, and this little steamer really helps save your clothes and your wallet. It generates a strong, steady flow of steam in about five minutes, and is easy to fill, carry, and store. With one max fill I was able to refresh three silk cardigans, smooth the wrinkles out of three silk blouses and a few of my husband's ties -a good 20 minutes of steaming. It comes with an over-the-door hanger, and two other attachments (brush and velour) that slide over the nozzle head. Instructions for the unit are clear, but nothing is said about the additional attachments. The steamer itself is thoughtfully designed -the nozzle hose coils around the unit, and the head locks into place on top of the steamer, and underneath the steamer is a built-in cord wrap for the power cord.

I don't know how favorably this would compare to the fabric steamers in the $200 range, or how this would work for someone who wants to give up ironing altogether ... but this has definitely reduced my dry cleaning trips, and will help extend the life of some of my favorite clothes. Definitely a worthwhile investment at under $30!

Best Deals on Conair GS4R Compact Fabric Steamer

O.K., it's probably not the best steamer in the world but for the price, it's a great value. I've only had it a little over a month and I've already found so many uses for it that it's more than paid for itself. I'm a knitter and find that it works beautifully for steaming and blocking my delicate handknits. Of course, it's great for other clothes too and my drapes never looked better. Tonight I used it to steam out an area rug that had been rolled up too long and had developed some serious creases and it worked like a charm. Now I only wonder why I waited so long to buy it.

Honest reviews on Conair GS4R Compact Fabric Steamer

I'll start by saying I am an avid sewer and have been sewing for over 20 years but have never owned a steamer. I love my iron and the extremely crisp look of a nicely ironed garment. Why I finally decided I needed a steamer is because I was making several outfits out of expensive velvet that cannot be safely ironed without potential permanent damage to the velvet. After researching a variety of steamers, I decided upon this Conair Compact Fabric Steamer based mostly on the customer reviews and price. My only real concern was with the reports of the steamer "spitting" but at least one helpful reviewer commented that this problem was easily avoided by following the instructions and raising the hose occasionally to allow condensation to drain back into the tank (this is 100% effective in completely eliminating that issue my steamer NEVER spits on my garments!)

After reading the instructions and setting my steamer up, the 1st thing I steamed was an old piece of velvet which had be folded and stored in a box for at least 10 years. I didn't expect this fabric to be recovered or restored into any usable condition as it was extremely wrinkled, but after just a few minutes of steaming it was as wrinkle-free and beautiful as the day it was bought.

I steamed many garments that day, cotton, poly, cotton blends, shirts, pants, skirts, etc. and of course, the velvet britches, cape, and dress I was making. I am extremely satisfied and happy with my steamer, it worked better than I hoped or expected on everything I steamed that day, especially the velvet.

On the silk, wool, and velvet garments and sweaters that I would never iron anyway, this steamer is fabulous and, on these types of garments, I would completely recommend the steamer with no reservations.

My only reservation is this...

If you are obsessive and compulsive about your shirts and/or pants being extremely crisp like me, you definitely will not want to abandon your iron. I was not able to get my shirts to look like they had been compulsively ironed and starched, but the wrinkles were removed and they looked nice. One good thing about this is that my teenaged son and daughter do not like the obsessively crisp starched look in their clothes but I don't like the "just rolled out of bed" look, this steamer will give you a nice happy medium neat but not compulsively so.

This is a decent product for the price. Use it 6 times and it will have paid for itself in dry cleaning bills. I agree with the other reviewer who said that steaming is not a panacea, but is like ironing vertically rather than horizontally, and some time and energy are still required. However this product is really good for people who don't know how to iron. I've burned things trying to iron. I have found that you cannot really damage clothes with a steamer, and on that ground I find this to be superior to ironing.

The Conair people could improve this product by making it more compact to store.
