Difference between expensive models and lesser expensive ones is that the expensive ones heat up in minutes and go to a higher temperature, thereby enabling them to act truly as a towel warmer. Ones like this take up to 30 minutes to heat up to capacity and even then, its highest temperature is not warm enough to act as a true warmer, but rather, a towel dryer. I mainly use this as a towel dryer so that towels don't get to the point of smelling. Since it doesn't get too hot, I do feel safe leaving it on pretty much all the time though and am satisfied with it, being that I only paid $67 for it. Biggest downer to me is that it is plastic looking so doesn't present well for a higher end bathroom.

After traveling in Europe I knew I had t have a towel warmer in my house. Knew I would find them on Amazon. This is a nice brushed stainless steel finish that goes well in my bathroom. I have mine mounted on the wall and it was easy to do. It came with mounting brackets and was a simple installation no wires. It also includes feet I am holding onto these incase I want to move it. The bars do not get Hot they just reach a level that keeps towels warm. You can leave it on 24/7 but there is a on off switch as well. I turn it off when I leave town.

Love my warm and toasty towels in the morning.

Whether due to climate or my bathroom's layout, my bath towel stays damp all day, so I purchased this to dry it faster -it does that well.

It has a lighted power switch (the switch's light is on when the power is turned on). The Owners Manual says: [Plug it in, turn the power switch on] "After a short time, the towel warmer will reach its operating temperature of 122 degrees F. Temperature will vary according to the temperature of the surroundings."

I observe that it takes about 5 minutes to get hot to the touch (probably the 122 degrees), and about 30 minutes will almost completely dry my bath towel. It works well. My "Kill-A-Watt EZ" ($26 on Amazon and worth every penny) says it uses 117 watts of power (not bad at all).

I purchased Belkin Conserve Socket F7C009q Energy-Saving Outlet for $10 on Amazon. It's a countdown timer that will turn off power to whatever you plug into it, in 30 minutes or 3 hours or 6 hours. It works great. Recommended that you purchase this too, so you can start the towel dryer then walk away and forget about it.

Both items do what I want them to do. I'm happy.

Honest reviews on Home Fashion 6-Bar Freestanding Towel Warmer, Drying Rack

I tried this two different ways, plugged in all the time and plugged in before taking my bath, and it didn't make any difference: the only part of the towel that warmed was the portion directly touching the bars. If if you snake your towel through the bars, you still won't get a 'warm towel out of the shower' feeling. Another problem is that the bars are not wide, so they don't accommodate much more than a hand towel or small bath towel; this device is useless with bath sheets.

I ended up buying the Towel Spa, also available on Amazon, and using it with a bath sheet and hand towel. The device warms up quickly enough in 10-15 minutes that its smaller size isn't a problem for two people using it. I've got it sitting on top of the toilet tank, and it fits nicely / is stable.

Like others, I enjoy the towel warmers often found in Europe. This product is a good substitute. We mounted it on the wall. Very pleased with the warmth. I can imagine it would be a little unstable if left as a free-standing object and would warm the towels less efficiently if not against a wall of some sort. The bars are wider on this model than others which provides more surface area against the towel. I would recommend it without hesitation.

I was worried that this unit would not get the job done. Well...just like the Bible says, that time spent worrying was wasted time! We put this little joker in our cabin on the river to help heat it this winter while we were replacing our entire main HVAC system. The cabin has a large great room with ceilings 18-22' high and the bedrooms are off the great room about a third of the way up. Total sq ft is probably 1600' or so. This heater took care of the WHOLE PLACE!! I ran the unit and the ceiling fans in the great room and within about 10-15 minutes or so the entire cabin started getting down right comfortable. When the HVAC system is up and running (heat pump) I'm thrilled to know that the bulk of the initial heating can and will be done with this little gas-sipping heater. It's a great buy and will wind up saving tons of cash on the electric bill. Highly recommend!

I bought a two family house, and each house is side by side. Both sides need a lot of work, one has heat and other doesn't, but they are both setup with a gas, forced air heating system. I don't have a whole lot of money right now, so I needed to heat the side of the house with the defunct unit, so after a lot of research, I bought this.

Both houses are identical, about 1200 sq ft each. I setup this unit to run in the kitchen, and have two fans circulating the heat around the first and second floor. This heater is amazing. Now that winter has arrived, this heater has no problem in heating the whole house, sometimes I have to turn it down it gets so hot.

Here's the interesting thing. Since both houses are identical in size and layout, one has the normal forced air heating systems and the other has this unit. With both thermostats set to the same temperatures, this unit is actually cheaper to heat the whole house. One bill was $75, while the other bill was around $27. I was shocked.

This model has a thermostat that is adjustable to any temperature. The other review talks about a low-medium-high feature, but that's not true, that's for a cheaper model. This actually has a real thermostat.

I've seen something like this at Home Depot for the customer service counter. They had theirs mounted high up near the ceiling with 12 of the infrared panels (just like the five you see in the picture). As far away as it was, when you stand right at the counter, it is screaming hot to stand underneath it. I think it's safe to say that it's proven to be very powerful, and this unit is definitely a work horse.

For a temporary solution, and a money saver, this unit is amazing and well worth the money. I'm glad I did the research and spent the money to get this, especially given my situation and where I live.

Just got this heater so I'll update moe in a couple of weeks. But had it installed and up and running in about an hour.Simple instructions and easy to connect to gas pipe.Got down to 39 degrees overnight which isn't freezing but cold for me in Texas. The reason I bought this model was for the thermostat so I wouldn't be up and down adjusting the heat level and I must say this is just what I was looking for, just set it on level 2 on the control knob and it kicks on and off and keep the house a constant 76 degrees.I haven't bought the legs for it yet so I just used a few bricks to set the heater on until I decide if I want to hang it on the wall or let it sit on the floor. My home is about 1400 square feet and it's warm from one end of the house to the other with this heater.I also use my ceiling fan running backwards to circulate the heat throughout the house and it seems to work really well.So in conclusion I will update this feedback in a few weeks but for now I'm more than happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a really great heater.

The other reviews cover everything else nicely, except:

1. The difference between the model 6200 and the 6000 is that the 6200 has a stainless steel skin, while the 6000 is black plastic. The innards and wattage are identical.

2. If you purchase this with 1-click ordering, you'll miss out on free shipping. Grrrrr. To avoid spending an extra $9.00 on postage, use the checkout cart instead, then change the shipping method to "Free Shipping"

3. If you want an excellent overview of induction cookers, look up the topic in wiki-pedia.

4. (Updated 8-2011). Someone in the comments below asked what the wattages are: When the "Power" mode is selected, Level 1: 200w. 2-500. 3-800. 4-1000. 5-1200. 6-1300. 7-1400. 8-1500. 9-1600. 10-1800w. When the "Temperature" mode is selected, the ranges (1-10) are (in degrees F): 140, 180, 210, 250, 280, 320, 360, 390, 430, 450.

5. (Updated 11-2012). I had not used the "Temperature" mode at all. A friend came over for Thanksgiving with his bacon/watercress soup (thick) and needed to re-heat it. After messing around with the "Power" and "Time" settings, he finally chose "Temperature" at 140. There was much less stirring, and no fussy regulation of a flame (all to avoid burning the soup on the bottom of the pan). He was mightily impressed, and since he is an excellent cook, I was mightily impressed too. Reminder: his excellent soup pot was aluminum, and so it would not heat at all (Error "E0" in the display, after two seconds). We loaned him a nice cast iron Le Creuset pot and all progressed smoothly. Remember that any pot that attracts a magnet will work, and that excludes all aluminum and most stainless steel. Furthermore: the traditional cooks swarming and crowding the kitchen stove on Thanksgiving were just as glad to have him and the induction unit out on the patio, and out of the way.

Please click the "helpful" button if any of this was useful. Thanks.

I have only had this unit for a few days, so don't know how it will hold up over time, but it works like it's supposed to, and I'm very happy with it so far. I'm not thrilled, however, that the price has dropped by $20 in the few days since I bought mine! Like others have said for others of the induction cooktops, the heat is concentrated in the center 4" of the plate, but this is not a real problem for boiling water, etc. And, if using a pot/pan that spreads the heat well, such as iron or pots with a thick clad bottom, it seems to mostly work out ok for other things. I had a problem trying to make an omelet, but maybe if I heat the pan slower and then add the eggs, the heat might spread out to the edge of the pan better (scrambled omelet wasn't bad, however). It might not work well for everything, but for most everything I've tried so far, it worked fine, and doesn't heat the kitchen up a lot. My 3 different sized steel pots with steamer inserts worked fine 2 are Tramontina (from Walmart I think) as did my iron and iron-enamelled pans, so I probably won't need to buy any pans especially for this cooktop.

After 5 months my unit is still working fine, and I use it for most of my "stovetop" cooking. I wouldn't mind a finer control for very low temps, but the 10 settings provided work pretty well for most everything. For a few things I switch back and forth between setting 1 & 2 or 2 & 3 mainly things like hot toasted sandwiches (which I cook in an iron fajita skillet, with a 2nd skillet on top to weigh it down). I found that a silicon potholder (got mine from Target) works great to put under the pots to protect the cooktop from scratches. I haven't noticed that it matters whether the pan is perfectly flat (maybe the potholder underneath helps this?). Also, the manual says not to use the cooktop on a metal surface because the magnetic heating may heat the metal surface underneath, but I put a large wooden cutting board (about 3/4" thick) over the 2 LEFT burners (oven heat exhausts through the RIGHT rear burner on my stove) and put the Burton cooktop on top of that to cook and have not had any problem with the stovetop underneath becoming warm. I don't do huge amounts of cooking, so with this one on the left, along with the small and large regular burners on the right, I have all my cooktop needs met. I use this, my microwave, outdoor grilling, and a toaster oven & crockpot which I use outside on the porch, to minimize kitchen/house heat from cooking during the summer, which of course is very helpful in Texas.

(Note that there are some very informative reviews for the Burton 6000 model which are relavent to induction cooktops in general.)

2nd update: This unit has performed flawlessly for over a year now. I use it frequently to boil water for when I wash dishes by hand hot water heater is far from the kitchen and no matter how high I set it the hot water is just not hot enough. So, I lowered the thermostat to 120 deg and just heat a small pot of water to add to the dishwater. However, I do not use this burner for some things, such as deep frying, and it doesn't work with my old-school Corningware which I like to use for some things, like making jam, so I would not want a stove with only induction burners; a couple of each would suit my needs better.

... for your learning dollars, that is.

Had this for a month; free-shipped, it arrived intact and within a very reasonable time. Manual is brief and to the point.

Works fabulously with simple time-proven cast iron cookware, but don't expect omelets to come off whole easily might do with enameled cast iron which I do not have. It is great to have minimal heat dumped into the house when you are paying for your air conditioning and it is 90°+ outside. That it worked just fine with some of my older cheaper stainless steel pots that didn't pass the magnet test was a pleasant surprise. I plan to move it to the back porch before I try my heavy-flavored grill-pan fried fish!

Took away the 5th star since (a) heat is so localized over the center that it charred stir-fry veggies and burnt the thin-gauge pan when I got a bit over zealous with the power settings and (b) the temperature preset increments are too far apart for my liking. It shouldn't be a big deal to have more numbers of and more uniformly spaced steps since the controls are all electronic. I would use cast iron cookware exclusively unless heating a liquid, -the thickness helps distribute heat more quickly and evenlybut you will want to be extra careful of the delicate-looking ceramic cooktop surface.

All in all, a great inexpensive tool to learn induction cooking and what to look for before you plonk your money down for that big-bucks 4 or 5 element full size induction cooktop kitchen upgrade. I am happy with the purchase.

Honest reviews on Max Burton 6200 Deluxe 1800-Watt Induction Cooktop

We finally moved to the country where I can have a huge garden, but I almost panicked when I saw how much food I was going to have to put up. Our little chest freezer is no match for it, and my dehydrator can only handle so much and is not good for everything. And DH likes "variety," meaning he grumbles if he has to eat the same thing two days in a row, so I knew I'd have to break down and do some canning. But the thought of adding all that heat on top of our Georgia heatwave was unbearable.

This Max Burton induction cooktop is a godsend. My Fagor 10-quart pressure canner works perfectly with it, and the best part is that I can bring it up to pressure with FAR less heat than electric or gas stoves put out. I just listen for it to come up to pressure, then with just a few clicks adjust the temperature down to maintenance level, set the timer, and walk off and leave it. When the time's up, the burner shuts off, and the heat is instantly OFF. This makes canning so easy and so much cooler that I find myself doing it more often. I can cook a big batch of something for dinner, then can the leftovers without it being a big ordeal. So happy DH, and I still have the economy and time-saving benefit of large-batch cooking. Cleanup is easy.

Another thing, too, is that I'm getting older and more forgetful (or maybe it's because I have a whole lot more I have to juggle now as a "country wife"). I've actually burned up pots on the stove that I've forgotten about while I was busy trying to do six gazillion other things. It's a lot harder to burn down the house when using this cooktop. :)

Other than the induction-ready cookware issue (not a problem for me), the only caveat I'd give potential buyers is that this really needs to be on its own electrical circuit. Our old house has few outlets and iffy wiring, so I do not even attempt to run the microwave and the induction cooktop at the same time because they are on the same circuit.

This induction cooktop has really changed my life. I think everybody ought to try cooking this way. It's got to be more energy efficient. But beware: Once you've familiarized yourself with an induction cooktop, you probably won't want to cook on anything else.

I bought this induction cooktop for my Mom instead of a standard cooktop because I liked the concept of the surface not staying hot after you take the pan off in fact it automatically shuts off when you take the pan off. She loved cooking with it for the past few months, but then it starting giving error codes and not working last week. We have contacted Max Burton customer service as it is past it's return period for Amazon. Initial response from Max Burton indicates good customer service. I'll update once we see how this all works out. Hopefully this failure is a glitch as the cooktop has only been used since mid-March of this year.

June 18 update. The replacement unit from the manufacturer arrived. Took a bit long to get the replacement unit about 3 weeks since we first contacted Max Burton. Return shipping cost of $20 was my responsibility.

July 8 update. The replacement unit from the manufacturer just quit. Less than a month of use and this new cooktop broke! I'm changing my rating to 1 star because of unreliability.

I've been using the Eurodib 110v Induction Cooker for about six months and am happy with it. I have a Jenn-Air propane cooktop that is unstable at low temps, cooking delicate items such as eggs on it is difficult. So I purchased the Eurodib. The Eurodib give a very consistent heat output with my magnetic pans.

It has two modes, "Heat" & "Temp"

Temp has 10 settings in 30 deg. increments from 150 to 450 deg.

Heat has 10 settings from 1 to 10.

The unit defaults to "Heat" when it is switched on, then you can switch to "Temp". I usually use "Temp" because it is more intuitive to boiling water (at 212 degrees, for example).

The Eurodib boils water much faster than my 1100 watt microwave and I was fortunate that the teapot is magnetic. Not so lucky with the KitchenAid pots and pans that I thought would have been magnetic. Unfortunately they are the cheaper non-magnetic versions.

Recommend checking your intended cookware with a magnet if you want to use it with any induction cooktop. I had enough cast iron and magnetic SS cookware to get by, whew!

Rated 4 stars, I'd give it 5 stars if it had smaller increments than 30 degrees.

Dyson Air Multiplier Table Fan, 10 Inches, Blue Reviews

Dyson Air Multiplier Table Fan, 10 Inches, Blue

I picked up this beauty at a local Bed Bath (discounted floor model) for $240 and was really excited to bring it home to replace my vintage aluminum fan that is so painfully hard to clean.

Once I set it up and ran it in my bedroom, I was really disappointed in the noise it made. I didn't notice the high-pitch "whirrrr" in the store, most likely because of all the surrounding ambient noise, but when focused in my bedroom, this high-pitched "hair dryer" tone was very off-putting. When stepping out of my bedroom, that high-pitch carries into the rest of my apartment, and becomes quite grating.

This is a deal-breaker for me. It's not so much the volume of sound, but the pitch/tone of the sound. Even on it's lowest setting, this high-pitched tone does NOT promote relaxation and calm, it is irritating and very difficult for me to sleep to. When the output dial is turned up, the pitch becomes higher and the overall volume becomes really loud, so loud it becomes almost impossible to tune out unless I crank the stereo or t.v. up. The sound is like a mini jet engine. Cute, but not practical for sonic well-being.

It's a shame, because the design is amazing, the materials are really nice, the build quality is very solid. I love the ease of use, the buttons are simple, functional, fun to interact with.

In form it's fabulous, in function, it's a fiasco. Dyson seriously needs to consider the aural effects of the high-pitched tone this product emits. Hopefully future models will address this issue, until then, I'm giving my ears a break and returning this noisy lovely thing.

This fan is no air multiplier. See all those holes around the base of the fan? Those are the air inlets for the blower which they've thoughtfully hidden in the base. You can't get something for nothing and that includes air.

Compared with a clip-on 6" fan, this fan is a waste of both money and space. That little clip-on costs $20 and moves 190 cubic feet per minute. The Dyson moves 40 cubic feet per minute (or as Dyson specifies: 5 gallons per second). Comparably sized tabletop fans move over a thousand cubic feet per minute.

Don't be fooled by the store displays. Those streamers are placed around the edge for a reason that's the only place where the air is moving! Stand a few feet away from this fan and you will literally feel nothing.

Meanwhile, it's loud. That little 6" fan produces 37 decibels of sound. The Dyson is closer to 50. That's more than twice as loud (decibels are a log scale, every 10 is a doubling).

It's intriguing that some are so taken with this fan. It would have some benefits. It won't muss your hair, and it's unlikely to ruffle your papers. But let's be real this is a fan, not a vase of flowers.

Buy this fan only if you prioritize owning a statement piece over owning a functioning fan.

Best Deals on Dyson Air Multiplier Table Fan, 10 Inches, Blue

I own this Dyson fan no doubt it will end up in the Museum of Modern Art. It is a beauty but the noise is terrible. I just wonder at the great effort to design this unit but to forget the most important part of the fan. Anyone I show it to immediately remarks on the noise. I kept it on its beauty alone.

Honest reviews on Dyson Air Multiplier Table Fan, 10 Inches, Blue

I have one of these on my desk at work set on a low setting creating a delightfully gentle breeze. I'm using it to improve the efficiency of the air-conditioning distribution. It is completely silent in the manner I operate it.

On higher speed settings this device does get noisy but to be honest no noisier than a comparably sized traditional fan.

Some of the comments left by others point to confusion over what this device is. This is not a bladeless fan. Instead it's a fan where there's no visible blade. The device works by using a small fan internal to the mechanism to create movement over the airfoil shaped hoop and that air movement creates suction that brings a far greater volume of air through the hoop than the internal fan creates itself. Dyson don't call this a fan, they call it an air multiplier; and that's exactly what it is.

This device is very elegant in its design and it works as advertised. This is not a replacement for a big or noisy fan that can move a huge volume of air this is a device for moving a small amount of air in manner that's pleasant to experience.

If you need to move a massive amount of air around a large area then you'll need a traditional fan. If you want spot cooling and the outrageous price is acceptable then this is a well suited device.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Dyson Air Multiplier Table Fan, 10 Inches, Blue

A hotel I stayed at recently had one of these in the room. I normally sleep with a ceiling fan or floor fan running, so when I entered the room and saw this, I thought it'd be perfect. Not so.

First, let's address why you probably are looking at this fan -it doesn't look like anything else out there. Very slick. It's not exactly tiny, but it has an attractive modern design that makes it more acceptable to have out than a traditional fan. It certainly shows what happens when you get some creative types to develop products. We could use more style-conscious designs in everyday items.

BUT, it's noisy, very much so compared to the volume of air it puts out. The noise it makes is a hum + air moving, but rather higher-pitched compared to most fans. I found it to be more intrusive than the Vornado fans I have around the house. Not quite as obnoxious as a hair dryer, but similar in sound, just quieter. If Dyson had used a larger base, they could have used a larger fan that wouldn't have made as much noise. Or a squirrel-cage blower which would have been nearly silent.

It doesn't put out much air. While I didn't have another fan at the hotel to compare it with, an equivalent-size Vornado puts out as much air on low as the Dyson puts out on high, but with far less noise. I barely felt the Dyson all the way across the room. Heard it clearly though. Vornado fans actually use an "air multiplying" design, but they use it to feed air into the fan blades rather than the output. Not exactly a new idea here.

The toughest obstacle is the price. This price is completely out of line. The build quality of this fan isn't anywhere near worth what they're asking for it. Entirely made of plastic. Couldn't cost more than twenty bucks to make this in China. It feels like it'd break/crack if got tipped over and landed on a hard surface. I also question the longevity of this fan. Larger, lower RPM motors generally last longer. This fan has a very small motor that runs at high RPMs to move enough air for it to work. Similarly, the air intake on the base of the fan uses very small holes. I'd imagine these would clog easily, putting even more strain on the motor. I have Vornado fans which have been going non-stop for about 10 years now. I don't see this fan lasting that long.

Overall, slick appearance and unusual thinking, but falls short -WAY short when you consider the price. Quite a shame. At 10-20% of their asking price, these would be a good buy. At that point you could forgive the poor performance for the slick aesthetics. Until then I'll gladly keep using the Vornado fans I've been using for the past 10 years.

I purchased this machine to use in a high school concession booth. We use it about 8-10 evenings per year, popping corn continually for 2 hours each evening. I researched popcorn machines for a long time before I chose this model. No other machine in this price range was recommended for this kind of use. We have had the machine for 2 years and it has performed beautifully during that time. It is very easy to use. When we use the Great Northern corn in pre-measured packages (oil, corn and salt) ANYONE can learn to use the popper in just a few minutes and the results are perfect every time. In the concession stand I use the 8-ounce packages of corn. Most of the other machines I researched would not hold that much corn, so I can make lots more popcorn in each batch with this equipment. The popper is sturdy, easy to clean and easy to maintain. Only problem is that I have to bring the machine home after every event because my family is hooked on the popcorn and will not eat any other kind. When we use it at home I use the smaller (6 ounce) pre-measured corn packages.

We have had our Paducah 8 Ounce Antique Popcorn Machine and Cart for about 7 months now and we use it weekly, if not more. It is easy to use and makes wonderful popcorn. Fresh popped popcorn from a machine is sooooo much better than that microwaved stuff. Every batch of popcorn that we have made has turned out wonderfully and the machine does it all. We just turn it on and pour in the oil and popcorn and it does all of the work. We would purchase this machine again in an instant. It also has easy cleanup. The popping pot comes right out for clean up and the tray in the bottom of the base makes cleaning up the un-popped kernels a breeze, although there are very few unpopped kernels. I would highly recommend this popcorn machine. We have also used the 6 oz and the 4 oz packets of popcorn from Great American Popcorn and recommend those too.

We ordered this for use in our home theater and it's replacing a Nostalgia Electrics Popcorn Cart we've had for the last six years. (Bought on a whim, with basically no research, from Sam's Club.)

We've enjoyed the Nostalgia cart, and use it fairly regularly (2-3 times/month). In the last six months or so, we've been getting quite a lot of unpopped kernels--up to half from every batch--and after changing popcorn a couple times, began to feel the unit wasn't properly heating and started looking for a replacement. After doing quite a bit of research this time out, we settled on the Great Northern carts as having the best mix of quality--larger capacity, metal gears and upgraded heating/cooking elements--and price. Not quite a true commercial unit, they also didn't have the commercial price tag. (And, honestly, we didn't need a commercial unit for home use.)

We settled on the Paducah cart, specifically, due to the picture/description here that showed the braided metal cord that screwed into the top of the cart, vs the standard three-prong outlet plug most carts employ. (As I write this, the close-up interior picture--second in the product image gallery--shows this quite clearly.) Since we had trouble with out previous unit's cord becoming loose and falling out easily over time, this seemed like a huge bonus, and something usually only found on those truly professional, commercial popcorn carts. Thus, we were pretty disappointed to discover upon arrival that this does NOT have the metal-covered cord OR the screw-in mechanism clearly pictured but, instead, uses the standard black plastic, three-prong cord, just as prone to falling/wiggling out as they inevitably become looser over time as the kettle is plugged/unplugged repeatedly. If basing on looks alone, or just going for the least expensive Great Northern cart popper, we likely would have gone with another unit. So, on that note, I'm fairly disappointed. When buying online, where you can't touch or inspect your item prior to purchase, you relay on the text description and photographs being 100% accurate, which was not the case here.

But, that mis-direct aside, this unit does work well. Assembly was straightforward and all the parts arrived undamaged. Once all together, which took even my non-handy self only about 40 minutes, including unboxing and moving it into place, the kettle heated quickly and I was able to pop two batches of popcorn in under 10 minutes. The corn itself popped up light and fluffy (almost no dead soldiers) and was quite tasty. Additionally, the unit was able to keep the extras warm and fresh for up to two hours after the initial pop, with a heating element far superior to what our old cart boasted.

The double glass doors make access to the popped corn easy (our old unit had one large swinging door, made out of plastic) and the stainless steel handles are also a nice, easy to grasp with buttery fingers, touch.

We found our usual popcorn method/"recipe," developed over the years, works well with this unit as well. Because I don't like the undeniably easy, but too-filled-with-fake-stuff, pre-made portion packs (see: Great Northern Popcorn, 8-Ounce Portion Packs), I keep Canola or Sunflower oil in a squeeze bottle, along with high quality bulk popcorn and popcorn salt, all in the cart, ready to go. Squirt the oil in (you need just enough to cover the bottom of the kettle), wait till it smokes, then toss in the popcorn--the cart comes with a pre-measured scoop. Once popped, dump and salt. After the corn is popped we put, roughly, 2T of real butter in the hot kettle to melt and then dump it over the popcorn and toss. (HINT: Hold the kettle lid closed and only the melted butter will pour out, keeping it from burning and/or dumping unmelted butter chunks on your popcorn.) We've found this method produces great, real buttered popcorn, that tastes far better than any movie theatre makes with no fake, chemical ingredients. (If you want "movie theater" taste, use the portion packs, but be aware you're also getting a much higher calorie and sodium count snack.)

For clean-up, we rinse (do not immerse) the kettle with water and wipe out with paper towels, and use a food-safe vinegar-water solution to wipe out the rest of the unit, and clean any smudges on the glass. It usually takes us less than 10 minutes. Every few months, we'll use Gold Medal Prod. 2095 Popcorn Kettle Cleaner on the kettle, which gets it looking as good as new.

If not for the deceptive photo that lead us to believe we were getting something we did not, I'd give the unit 4 stars. With that error though, I can't go higher than 3.

Honest reviews on Great Northern Popcorn 6035 Antique Style Popcorn Machine

This popcorn machine is just what the doctor ordered. Great popcorn, easy to make, and fun to eat.

The machine arrived just days after my ordering it. There was some assembly required and the directions were clear. After a good scrub down the popping began. The popper bowl has capacity for 8 oz. but you can use smaller packages if you want.

Clean-up is not too bad either. It will take awhile to wipe down the insides and you must disassemble the popper from the enclosure to give it a through washing.

The popper works great and we all enjoy the flavor of the fresh popped corn, just like the stuff served in the theaters only hot!

Purchased this machine after being in the Popcorn Machine market for what seemed like 3 years.. I tried every type of popcorn maker in these 3 years, and I'd always had my eye on one of these Commercial "looking" models.. Well when I saw the deal from Discount Tommy on this one I just couldn't pass it up!! Just recieved the unit yesterday and after 2-3 batches of excellent popcorn later, I am Impressed!!! I read a couple of reviews about broken power switches, and kettles being dead on arrival, but I had none of those issues, especially since the one I purchases was a factory return w/ I got at a deep discount!!! Clean up for me is not exactly as easy as everyone says, I mean you can reach in a wipe down the glass, but there is small channel between the glass panes where small piece of corn & Hulls accumlilate that prove to be be a problem whilst cleaning. Not a deal breaker, but I'm abit OCD' ish!!!! Kids love it, I love it & Mama loves it, I would definately recommend this machine to anyone thats in the market!!!

This a great heater. It blends unobtrusively into the room. Just set it to the desired temprature and watch it take over! It has 5 different heat settings which automatically go up or down depending on the temprature setting. It quietly warms up the entire room without the heat blast "in your face" that other heaters have. Great for the early winter time when you need some heat and avoid turning the full house heat on. I have 3 bedroom floor (about 1000 sq feet) and this heater was enough when the outside temp was in the low 40's and I did not need to turn the house heat on.

This portable hydronic heater works very well on a plug in 120vac receptacle and is very economical versus the regular convection heaters which keep you either too hot or too cold. It keeps my smaller room at a constant and comfortable temperature as per my setting. The reason for the 4 rating is the digital readout and controls are too low. I have to get on my hands and knees to set them, which isn't all too often, however It would be nice if Marley would either incorporate a remote control or position the readout and controls at a more convenient level. I also wish Marley would make this heater in a smaller version, like approx. 36-48 inches as I do have a need for a less lengthy one. Some other manufactures have smaller ones but they all require 240VAC and are not portable since they must be attached to a wall and do require an additional wall mounted thermostat. No thanks, too expensive and too complicated and involved for me!

It keeps shutting off instead of reaching the set temperature for the room . Will not heat long enough to reach the desired temperature .

I was looking for something to take the chill out of the bathroom with more wattage than an infrared heat bulb, and this low profile unit appeared to be less of a remodel than similar wall units. I was able to cut a hole in the kick panel under existing bathroom cabinets and wire it to a timer, and it definitely warms up the room. I wired it on a dedicated 220V circuit but it has a jumper if you need to convert it to 110V. My only complaint is that the height of the housing was a couple of millimeters taller than the gap from the floor to the bottom of my cabinet face. This meant I had to notch out the width of the housing from the bottom edge of the cabinet face, fortunately this could be done under a drawer so the drawer face conceals the cut edge. The horizontal overhang of most cabinet faces may also exceed the recommended maximum so far this has not presented any problems for me when running on a timer, but continuous duty might be a problem for heat sensitive finishes on cabinet faces.

I have had the Broan kickspace heater for 4 years and have had to replace the two heater elements three times. Luckily, I have expertise in electricty and repaired it myself. On the other hand, the elements have increased in price to the point that the next time the elements need replacing, I will search for another brand.

I bought three of these for my condo remodel and am very pleased. Wired the two bathroom heaters at 750 watts and the one for the kitchen at 1500 watts -all to timers. The units heat quickly and are totally invisible.

Great product! Heater tucks neatly into kickspace of our bathroom vanity. Opening for unit easily cut out with a dremel. Electrician hardwired it. We opted for a timer switch in the wall rather than a thermostat switch as we only are using it when we shower. Put it on before your shower and come out to a nice warm bathroom!

works ok with cans, extends coolness of beverage but not for long time .. looks cool at my desktop

While the CoolIT Beverage Chiller isn't powerful enough to even keep a drink cool, I found a way to keep my drink cold until I finish it. Get a koozie (foam can holder), cut out the bottom, put it around a soda can and stick the can on the CoolIT chiller. Granted, most of the job is done by the koozie, but near the end of the can, it does make a difference.

Best Deals on Coolit Systems USB Beverage Chiller

You're delusional if you think a USB port can take a drink from room temp and make it nice and cold. If you want to do that for $30, again, you're crazy.

Now, if you want an apparatus that keeps cold drinks from warming up as fast and also keeps the bottom half of your can of soda colder much longer, this is perfect. Assuming you crack open a beverage when it's cold, this thing is great. The top half of the drink is gone before it warms up. It's the bottom half that causes problems and this does the job.

Not even close to as loud as some reviews say it is. Yeah, it hums...but it's the same level of sound as the power supply on the CPU, so it's not like I even notice. Granted, this thing is closer to the user than the power supply, but it makes no difference.

I liked this thing. Got it as a gift and it is useful only for aluminum can drinks.

Honest reviews on Coolit Systems USB Beverage Chiller

The CoolIT USB Beverage Chiller is a great idea with not-so-great execution. It only keeps the bottom part of the beverage cold, and not so much that you would notice a difference. The fan is loud. All-in-all an unimpressive product. I'm sending mine back.

I got this device as an early Christmas gift and was mildly excited (I love gadgets). I tested it out in a well air-conditioned office on cans of Diet Coke.

Can 1: fresh out of the box, never opened, & placed on chiller for 1hr. Results: no noticable change in temp.

Can 2: one hour in fridge, never opened, then onto chiller for 1.75 hrs. Results: soda got slightly warmer.

Can 2: 3 hours in fridge, opened, then onto chiller where I sipped it over the course of an 1.5 hrs. Results: it got warmer at what seemed like the standard rate.

This device does not work as advertised. It did not keep my drinks cool. It did not delay the warming. Not a worthwhile gift and certainly not worth $25. Save your money and use ice.

Other downsides: No on/off switch, can only be powered via USB, and it is heavy enough that laptop users will leave it behind.

After the date had expired for the Dimplex stove to be delivered, (remember, I didn't set the delivery deadline!)I contacted the seller who gave the excuse that all the Dimplex stoves were delayed in being shipped. However, once the problem had been addressed, I was offered a 10% discount which was to be credited to my card (it was not explained initially that it would be either a discount on the price of the unit itself or a credit to my account). I have not as of this date been credited (perhaps next billing cycle) but did receive the Dimplex stove in perfect condition within days of my inquiry. I was interested in a unit which did not exceed 1500 watts on the high setting as I was concerned any higher wattage would need a dedicated line; remember though, that most hair dryers are 1600 or more watts but we don't operate them all the time. I really didn't want the flame effect, just the heater which was a little larger than the small ones sold in major stores such as Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc., but to my surprise, the flame gives just enough light so that I am able to turn off the lamp I previously kept on in the room where I have the stove. The blower is very quiet and actually gives a soothing noise which is conducive to sleep. I usually keep it on low but if it were really cold, the high setting would heat a small room or two if they were closed off. It is just enough heat to take the chill off cool evenings. I would venture to say that the heater would be a romantic addition to a bedroom as it is absolutely charming with its glowing flame effect and gentle heat. The stove is only guaranteed for a year, but then so too was a very expensive oven which I purchased for my kitchen and INDEED it was dead in about a year.... so don't expect TOO much from this charming stove for the money. I only wish Dimplex sold these in stores such as Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, Lowe's, etc., as it puts to shame the heaters/stoves they sell for less money, but who wants their utilitarian heaters/stoves junking up their home? To date, I am very happy with the Dimplex Free Standing Cube stove. As my husband states, "tell them in the review that the stove is lovely." (I can't believe HE said that but he really did!)

I researched a lot for a nice little fireplace heater. I LOVE LOVE THIS. DO not regret it one bit. it is MORE than I thought it was quality wise especially. My daughter wants one now for her room and as soon as I get the money I shall order another one. The above reviews made me feel comfortable buying this. It Came very quick and no damage. It is VERY quiet, don't even know it's running. The fire effect is way better than I imaged. VERY HAPPY WITH THIS FIREPLACE!

I moved into a town home and really wanted a fireplace: Began doing research and found this solution! It is retro cool! It is the perfect amount of cheeze in a box. I love it, my daughter loves it, my cat loves it! One of the features that we enjoy is that you can have the fire effect on with no heat. So even when it is warm and rainy, you can have the effect of a fire and its soothing nature. I read some reviews that people were sad that it doesn't crackle like a fire, but it isn't fire it is a cool electric heater! Oh, and another selling point, is that because it is on a chrome pedestal it can be set on carpet (I confirmed this with Dimplex)...and it is portable. I don't know how well it heats a space yet, because it is summertime, but I suspect it will live up to its claims.

This thing is adorable, works like a powerhouse, and has been doing so steadily for over a year. It looks like a real fireplace, and makes the apartment feel much homier. The heat settings are surprisingly strong—I don't think I've ever had to use the highest setting, even mid-winter in New York—and my bedroom doesn't have heat but does have two giant, drafty windows.

I've been looking for a warming drawer for my kitchen for over 10 years but could never bring myself to pay 800-1000 dollars. Amazon put this one on sale and I snapped it up (especially since I got the last white one on sale). It looks great, works great and I am very happy with it. My personal installation was a bit tricky because of where I wanted to install it, but otherwise it was an easy install, no hard wiring, just plug it into an outlet with a big enough breaker on it and you're good to go. Installing the anti-tipping block in the back of where I put it was where I had difficulties. I am sure if I were putting it in a standard cabinet or something it would have been just fine. I love this drawer and am really happy to finally have one installed in my kitchen! Really useful when making a large meal or even when I make waffles. It keeps the waffles warm and warming the plates goes a long way to helping food stay hot all the way through the meal. I love this drawer!

I gave the heated mattress pad to a friend who sleeps in an attic. It has very little heat and he was finding that blankets just weren't doing the job. I gave him the mattress pad for his birthday and he said he can't BELIEVE what a difference it makes. For the first time since he started sleeping there, he can sleep through the night and not wake up shivering. In addition, he had been suffering with back pain and that seems to have subsided too, starting the first morning after sleeping with the pad.

He said the warmth generated by the pad is amazing. So much so that he rarely sets it higher than three (out of a possible 10). He said he loves it and didn't even know this product was MADE. He had heard of electric blankets but never a heated PAD.

He said he loves it and would recommend it to anyone.

Like another reviewer, I was very surprised at how warm (hot) the pad gets. I've never been able to tolerate it set above a 3, but do initially (before getting into bed) set it at 5 or 6, but then instantly turn it down when using it as it's very intense heat at the higher settings. Because of how hot it gets, I would be concerned letting a small child use this, even in a supervised home-setting as I would be afraid they could turn it up accidentally. We put a mattress pad over ours (I believe the instructions frowned on that plan) as we could feel the wires, so while these sell for somewhat less than other brands, expect to feel the wires in the pad, just as you might feel them in a heating blanket. We do not feel them with the standard, mattress pad in place. Good and warm for the money and I'm buying four more for the rest of the family.

THIS IS THE GREATEST ITEM. I HAVE HAD A TWIN, FULL AND A QUEEN SIZE.

IT IS GREAT TO GET INTO A WARM BED. ALSO, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS HOW EASY IT IS TO WASH IT AND PUT IT IN THE DRYER OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Used the pad for a while now. A few negatives make me not consider it for replacement. 1) The very large socket lies at the foot of the bed. I constantly kick it during sleep, sometimes hard. 2) I can feel the wiring elements. 3) I constantly get an 'F2' reset, which has been harder and harder to reset. [I.e., unplugging the power cord.] Unplugging a power cord when you're trying to get to sleep is not fun. The mattress is defective. On the positive side, the mattress pad heats quite nicely. We both like the power 'start-up' feature.
