Purchased this heater a few weeks ago. Easy to install, simple hose extention and brass nipple along with a low pressure regulator. Took more time finding the parts at the store than actually hooking it all up.

Make sure you wrap all threads with pipe tape prior to tightening, and test the connections for leaks (dishsoap and water mixture...leak will blow bubble). After all properly tightened, fire it up!

Thoughts on the heater: puts out an enormous amount of heat, especially for price. Does not come with feet, so it needs to be wall mounted, feet purchased, or some kind of stand fabricated so it is off the floor surface. I used 2 cinder blocks. Pretty stable, but I plan on getting feet of some kind for tip prevention.

Draw back: radiant head pretty much goes straight up, so if you are like me and work in a non insulated garage with open rafters, most of your heat will be leaving the work shop. However, you can get the attachable fan, or just use a tall oscillating fan on low to evenly spread the warmth.

**side note** everywhere I could read, this unit is said to be used with no less than a 100lb propane tank. While this might be true if you are using this heater in place of a regular home furnace, or you are keeping your garage regulated at a certain temperature; I am currently running off of a 20lb bbq grill tank with no issue. I leave it on for 1-2 hours and have not yet had any freeze up issues from over drawing the tank.

I bought this as backup heat for the winter and had it installed in my fireplace this is a really good heater. Looks nice in my den.The ad says it is for a garage but I had it placed in my den fireplace and it looks really nice.You cannot leave the pilot on as it will heat your house up.My house is 1550 sq.ft. so I believe it will heat the whole house in the event we have a power failure as I only got it for backup anyway. Great looking heater will most definetly buy this heater again.Have already recommend it to family members.

Purchased in mid-October 2012 to replace wood stove and 30+years old forced-air furnace (although instructions caution the unit is not to be used as primary heat source), installed mid-November. Ordered white/no blower, got black. Roughly $250 for the stove, $200 for independent/retired/laid-off contractor installation: Two of three natural gas appliance installers said they "don't touch them" (meaning small gas heaters generally) for vague reasons; natural gas supplier's sub-contractor half again as expensive. Hung the unit on the living room wall myself (single/divorced female, 62); hanging took maybe an hour, gas hookup involved 4 hours (mostly in/out of the basement to cut/thread heavy-iron piping on threader set up in the driveway).

Home is a roughly 1300 square-feet (one large bedroom, one very small bedroom converted to walk-in closet/storage upstairs), 200-year-old fieldstone farmhouse--some new windows and attic protection but, for all intents, uninsulated. Half the downstairs (4 rooms/~800 square feet) heated in Michigan winter. Purchased unit precisely *as* primary heat source.

Unit's been up/running for a little over two weeks with outside temperatures/weather ranging from low 50's to mid-teens/20's with wind/rain/snow. Thermostat dial offers settings 1-6; set it on mid-2 for more-than-adequate heat through living room/bedroom/kitchen/bath with aide of ceiling fan in living room. No doubt whatever that it will handle a Real Michigan Winter.

Unit is attractive (actually prefer the black), unobtrusive, virtually silent. Slight odor of gas as thermostat/flame kicks on/off. No hard cool-down/heat-up of rooms like the old forced-air "blast" furnace; heat is as radiant/consistent as a wood stove without the work (which I loved when I could do it) and mess of wood. With the gas line piping in place, replacement, if ever necessary, would amount to the cost of a new unit.

Unit has not been in operation long enough to require cleaning. Waiting for first gas bill.

So far, I have no criticism of this unit whatever. It is perfectly lovely.

UPDATE 01/01/2013

First natural gas bill covered roughly 3 weeks' use, was easily half what the old furnace would have used/cost. Wall behind and 4-6" immediately above the mounted heater stays surprisingly cool, wall above that gets very warm but not too hot to touch/blister paint/be dangerous. Am considering purchase of another while price is reasonable.

TODAY, 3/22/2013: Nearly through first Michigan winter with this heater as only heat source. Thermostat dial offers settings from 1 to 6; have never set above high-2/the line between 2 and 3. Have to set at lowest setting when outside temperatures reach 30-degrees. Operation is dependable, takes 1/2-hour or so to heat house from dead-cold, flame/heat is even and consistent. Haven't had to clean jets; will do that at the end of the season. The only nuisance has been a slight pale grey dusty residue/deposit noticeable on dark woodwork--byproduct of ventless natural gas combustion; it's probably on walls/drapes too but they're white/beige, cleaned every spring anyway. No noticeable condensation whatever. Haven't purchased second unit yet--may not need to except as backup/replacement *in case* anything goes wrong next year. Again/still: I. love. this. heater!

I bought this ProCom black garage heater online from Northern Tool in October, 2011. I knew how to hook up gas appliances, so it wasn't difficult to install this. We installed it on our living room hearth after taking the gas logs out of the fireplace. Bought the BrassCraft hook-up kit from Home Depot. Also got the "feet" from Northern Tool (they were white, so I painted them black). Since this heater's on the hearth, we leave the fireplace vent slightly open for the little bit of needed ventilation required by this heater. The heater cycles on and off flawless, smoothly and quietly. With the heater set between 2 and 3, it keeps about 800 square feet at 67 degrees when it's in the 30s outside. Very comfortable heat. We don't run it when we're sleeping or when we're not at the house. Very pleased with this heater. Will easily save us $40 per month.

After having a few of the Little Butler's from Franke, I was advised they finally revamped the under the counter plumbing with the LB2200. Right away you can tell its an improvement! Feels solid! A lot of reviewers have stated that this hot plate does not get warm enough to keep your coffee hot. I disagree, but also think I know why they are having that experience. How well this warmer works is extremely sensitive to the shape of your coffee mug, in particular the way that the bottom is. I did some controlled experiments to determine how much heat this warmer puts into a liquid in a cup and found as much as 30 degrees of variation between different mugs of the same or similar material.

The bottom line, is that any hotplate style coffee warmer depends on maximum surface area contact with the bottom of your mug. If you have a mug that is broad and flat at the bottom, filling the heating surface of the warmer, it will work great. If you mug is very narrow at the bottom or arches up so that only the edge is touching, the heater cannot be as effective.

You should either buy a different mug, or forego this energy wasting method altogether, in favor of a well insulated stainless steel vacuum mug like the ones from Contigo. Personally, I like the taste of coffee best out of a real mug, so I continue to use this warmer, just with a broad based mug.

I have used it for about a week and it does a nice job of keeping coffee warm at pretty much the same temperature.

Update 11/21/2010: Several times now, the power light has gone off but if I jiggle it a tad bit it comes back on. It only does this once in a while but I am downgrading it to 3 stars. It still heats really well but if I have further problems I will let you know.

11/25/2010: It is becoming more sensitive to staying on and I am not sure how much longer it's gonna last!! Down grading to 2 stars instead of 1 because when it works, it does a good job.

12/17/2010: Becoming even more difficult to get it to stay on. This is a piece junk....don't buy!

I've petty well worn out my cup warmer and I got this one mainly because it looked compact and also because of the price. It's ok but the on/off switch is in the cord and I just don't like that. I can't use it for work because I don't have a way to place the cord to get to the switch so I now have a cup warmer at home to use by my chair. That's pretty handy, keeps my coffe nice and hot and the cord can dangle down and be reached with no problem. It worked out well after all, but I wouldn't buy it again. It arrived in good condition and within the specified time so I have no problem with the seller.

This is suitable for heating your personal space when it isn't practical to heat a large area. I'm using it in my unheated garage to make myself comfortable enough to work. This heater is not for heating whole rooms.

The heater gets hot almost instantaneously and cools down quickly once shut off. You must keep combustibles away from it! For some peace of mind, it shuts off if tipped or even picked up. Still, you need to be careful.

Four stars instead of five because you cannot use this on your work surface and tilt down towards your hands. However, when placed on an object at your side at about hip height, the angle of the heater does perfectly warm your mid and upper body.

I was worried that this unit would not get the job done. Well...just like the Bible says, that time spent worrying was wasted time! We put this little joker in our cabin on the river to help heat it this winter while we were replacing our entire main HVAC system. The cabin has a large great room with ceilings 18-22' high and the bedrooms are off the great room about a third of the way up. Total sq ft is probably 1600' or so. This heater took care of the WHOLE PLACE!! I ran the unit and the ceiling fans in the great room and within about 10-15 minutes or so the entire cabin started getting down right comfortable. When the HVAC system is up and running (heat pump) I'm thrilled to know that the bulk of the initial heating can and will be done with this little gas-sipping heater. It's a great buy and will wind up saving tons of cash on the electric bill. Highly recommend!

I bought a two family house, and each house is side by side. Both sides need a lot of work, one has heat and other doesn't, but they are both setup with a gas, forced air heating system. I don't have a whole lot of money right now, so I needed to heat the side of the house with the defunct unit, so after a lot of research, I bought this.

Both houses are identical, about 1200 sq ft each. I setup this unit to run in the kitchen, and have two fans circulating the heat around the first and second floor. This heater is amazing. Now that winter has arrived, this heater has no problem in heating the whole house, sometimes I have to turn it down it gets so hot.

Here's the interesting thing. Since both houses are identical in size and layout, one has the normal forced air heating systems and the other has this unit. With both thermostats set to the same temperatures, this unit is actually cheaper to heat the whole house. One bill was $75, while the other bill was around $27. I was shocked.

This model has a thermostat that is adjustable to any temperature. The other review talks about a low-medium-high feature, but that's not true, that's for a cheaper model. This actually has a real thermostat.

I've seen something like this at Home Depot for the customer service counter. They had theirs mounted high up near the ceiling with 12 of the infrared panels (just like the five you see in the picture). As far away as it was, when you stand right at the counter, it is screaming hot to stand underneath it. I think it's safe to say that it's proven to be very powerful, and this unit is definitely a work horse.

For a temporary solution, and a money saver, this unit is amazing and well worth the money. I'm glad I did the research and spent the money to get this, especially given my situation and where I live.

Just got this heater so I'll update moe in a couple of weeks.But had it installed and up and running in about an hour.Simple instructions and easy to connect to gas pipe.Got down to 39 degrees overnight which isn't freezing but cold for me in Texas.The reason I bought this model was for the thermostat so I wouldn't be up and down adjusting the heat level and I must say this is just what I was looking for,just set it on level 2 on the control knob and it kicks on and off and keep the house a constant 76 degrees.I haven't bought the legs for it yet so I just used a few bricks to set the heater on until I decide if I want to hang it on the wall or let it sit on the floor.My home is about 1400 square feet and it's warm from one end of the house to the other with this heater.I also use my ceiling fan running backwards to circulate the heat throughout the house and it seems to work really well.So in conclusion I will update this feedback in a few weeks but for now I'm more than happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a really great heater.

We are building a small cabin and were looking for something to fit, both physically and décor wise. We ordered the classic flame 23inch insert and then found this to go along with it. When they delivered it I was surprised at how much the box weighed, however when I opened it I realized why. The stone on it is not some imitation plastic it is real and beautifully done. The unit is extremely simple to put together and the instructions are perfectly written. As long as you understand what this product is used for, you will love it! It is just what it says it is: a foot warmer, not a full mattress pad. The measurements are missing from the item description, which is bad marketing. The Twin/Full sized pad measures about 24x34 inches and it sits on top of your mattress pad and under the top sheet. Even though it doesn't have straps that wrap around the corners of the mattress, it doesn't move around at all. It also has nice long cords for the plug in and the controller. The controller has three settings and each setting has a different color so you can tell what the setting is without having to read the printing (very handy at night). My problem is that I can't sleep if my feet are cold and I don't like wearing socks to bed, but I don't need a full electric mattress pad or blanket. This foot warmer keeps my feet warm and I fall asleep faster. It is just what I needed.

The idea of having an electric foot warmer is wonderful and just what I need. However, the design of this product makes it almost unusable for me.

First, even on the lowest heat setting, the warmer gets so hot by the middle of the night that it is unbearable and has to be turned off. It seems not to be thermostatic. It has only 3 heat settings, not a continuously variable dial for adjusting heat.

It has no automatic shutoff.

The control to change the temperature and turn the unit off has blindingly bright lights that make my whole bedroom bright. Pushing the button successively (there is no dial) to make the unit turn off or change heat setting is VERY noisy, waking up my spouse. The control also doesn't have a flat bottom, so it won't rest in a reasonable position on the side table. The bottom is rounded for some unknown reason. No sensible person would put something like that under their pillow, so I'm not sure where the manufacturer thinks you are going to put it.

Finally, the place where the cord plugs into the warmer itself is a HUGE lump that is right in the middle of the warmer, exactly where my feet constantly hit it. Why would it have been hard to put it off the edge of the bed or off to the side of the warmer?

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any competing product.

I bought this last year and it has worked great, although I use this as a heated pet bed and not as a foot warmer. When placed under my dog's normal bed (which is about 2-3 inches thick), it provides a very soft and subtle heat that he seems to like. He is a very large dog (~85 lbs) so to buy an actual heated pad for him would have been close to $100. The only problem is the cat now sleeps in the middle of my dog's warm and cozy bed, and my dog is too polite to do anything about it so I might need to get another one. :)

I love this product. I bought the twin size (because it was cheaper), even though I have a california king size bed. (I'm the only one in the bed.) I was used to sleeping with a heating pad or two. I agree that the description is lacking and it is a flat pad that goes under the sheets, but it works great for me, and I think that the twin size might work for 2 people. The only other thing that I would mention as a negative would be the place where the cord plugs into the pad creates a bump which might bother some people.

Update 1/2/13. The picture has been updated and now does show the correct product. I am still using my foot cuddler. It is not as warm as it once was, but it provides enough heat to keep my feet warm. I have found that any of these type of heaing products will wear out, (especially if you use them as much as I do) so I expect that I will have to buy another one soon. They never last as long as the warranty (heating pads and electric blankets). so I will have to start keeping track of the receipts, etc. (I sleep much better in the winter with the extra warmth, so I would purchase again without the warranty.) The price has gone up since I purchased my first one in December 2009. Hopefully the price will be lower in the spring.

This is a rectangular pad with rounded corners, which is 45 X 24" in the twin/full size. It just lies on top of the bed. We put ours under the mattress pad and sheet. The heating wires do not extend right to the edge; instead they stop about 2-3 inches, all around, from the edge. I'm not sure how you would use this on a twin bed, as the instructions state to NOT bend the pad/wires and a twin bed is only 39" wide. It would work well for a full-sized bed. We use one on a queen-sized, as the queen version was unavailable. The one other problem we have had is that one of the pads was heating very unevenly. Almost nothing on one side, much more on the other. For that reason and the fact that it doesn't really fit a twin-sized bed, we returned it. We have kept the one we use on the queen-sized bed, will update on reliability, if needed, in the future. At this point, would probably purchase again.

I find this heater to be adequate for my purpose which is to heat my RV during the winter. I use this unit for the front and an electric heater for the rear. Together they provide enough heat although our temps have only gotten down to the mid thirties so far. Manufacturer suggests using it for fifteen minutes outside before putting it in a confined space but I found that it took several uses to burn off the toxic-smelling paint used. Easy to use but plan to spend as much on venting material and gas hoses/hardware as you did on the unit itself.

I just received the R4 yesterday. After carefully following directions on placement of unit, etc. this heater did no better than the $15 1500 BTU it replaced and it was only about a 1x1 foot unit. This was a total waste as it does not heat the 24x20 living room it was purchased for. The claims for this unit are largely embellished. Take it for what it's worth, folks.

Full featured and so far does everything as advertised. We hardly use the central heating any more, unless weather is extreme and we have company staying over in a spare bedroom. Just roll this to where you want warmth and turn it on.

First off, let me say that I would really like this product if it didn't leak, but it leaked water on the ground from day 1. I currently have the fireplace floor standing but think it will look much better wall mounted. It is electric so the flame is basically a light bulb that flickers with a motor rotating foil. Looks decent but can def tell its a fake flame. The heat it produces is minimal and may be good for a bedroom but not anything much bigger. The heat is pushed out the top of the unit so nothing can be with 4ft of the top. Also since heat rises most of it goes right up to ceiling. I have a ceiling fan to help with this. The glass cover is nice and makes it look nice when hung on wall. The unit looks nice and modern and produces some heat. It's more for looks than for purpose.

I like this sleek contemporary black fireplace. The white coals are real and have to be placed on the bottom shelf before sliding on the black frame. Right now I am just using it for decoration. I haven't tried the heat settings yet. I placed it on the bottom shelf of my baker's rack. I removed the top shelf of my baker's rack because the instructions say to leave a specified amount of space at the top when the heat is on. I chose this product because a similar product from another store was sold out. I like this product better because it can be either wall mounted or free standing. The product I originally wanted was 36" wide and wall mount only. I think it may have been dangerous to mount the other 36" wide product on the wall. This one is just right for me.

I bought this expecting the extra vertical height to deliver the heat at a more direct level. Which it kind of does but that design is a compromise which doesn't offer a great benefit.

The design gives you the impression that the front fascia is mostly a heat output area but that's a lie. What they've done is taken a typical 1500W wide-type heating element and just stretched it vertically, so the actual area of output is through a 1 inch vertical gap between the center three fins. The lower quarter of the design is for the fan intake too so don't consider that part of the heating element.

What this means is the heat delivery is a very narrow area of effect and you have to be standing within about three or four feet to feel it on your skin. In fact the output even on high is not very hot at all. On the plus side it means the casing remains cool to the touch on all sides, in fact you could actually put your hand over the opening and leave it there. A hair dryer has a hotter output and at high speed this unit sounds about the same as a hair dryer so it needs to be at a distance. Low speed is more tolerable.

The remote is useful in that it has an LCD feedback display for temperature and fan setting but is very cheaply made with loose, cheap feeling buttons. The main unit fares better but it is not one of Lasko's better quality products.

If you want to slowly heat a small room then this would probably work, but for medium to large rooms the output will not provide instant heat and be in constant use trying to automatically maintain your set temperature.

I have a smaller Lasko heater, but I needed a bigger one to heat my 670SF work space. It works great. Really gets the place comfortable. The price is affordable, too.

Having purchased a Lasco fan which works very well and has a relatively small footprint, I definitely turned to Lasko when I was looking for a heater. The 5588 fit the bill. I have not experienced any problems, EXCEPT that when my printer (in the office where I was using the heater) began to print, the electricity went out. I had to get a new line for my office to prevent this from happening again. Now it works well! I imagine that my experience is similar to others who have purchased a heater (Lasko or another brand). It is well to be warned so you are prepared if this happens to you. Getting a new line installed cost me almost $300.00, but, in the end, it was worth it.

This is the best tower heater ive ever used. Love that the remote has a small lcd display. Heats up my bedroom quick. Love the automatic temp thing, turns off when it gets to the temp and then keeps checking it every once in a while to see if its still the same temp. Only dislike is the bright blue lights on the top, just a little too bright for sleeping.

This part is as described, and fit my old bbq regulator perfectly. However, the part I received is not the one pictured. The brass adapter is not as long as it appears, and the Acme nut is green. This does not affect the functionality so I am still giving it 5 stars. Cheap easy solution.

I bought this unit as a replacement for the nut assembly on my Mr. Heater extented hose I use for my elevated blind.. The original broke (after several years use) when I attempted to remove it during very fridged weather. This is a good replacement. The only reason I gave it a 4 star rating, rather than a five star, is the throw on the back side of the nut is shorter than shown...just a lenght of threaded pipe and no wrench lug. This was no problem, you simply use a ratchet head on the connection head lugs (inside the nut head) to tighten the unit to the regulator.

I've read the previous reviews and it appears that the verbiage has been corrected since them. I received exactly what was described in the package. Was easy to install! I didn't buy the starter kit so I did have to buy a couple extra things from Home Depot but that much I was expecting. I'm using it in Palm Springs CA. I am actually very amazed at the difference in water temperature coming out of it especially considering the amount of water going through it! I've just ordered a second one to double the effect! I'm looking forward to receiving it tomorrow and installing for use this weekend!

I bought this one last year, two panels and it works great for North Dakota. However, one of the ends is leaking now so I have to find a good epoxy or something to repair it. I also had to "rig it" for the Intex Pump. I would recommend a solid panel.

I connected the product as instructed, once I turned my pump on it immediatly blew the end off a brand new 35foot hose. I had added two of these hoses to get the panels into the sun. I replaced the blown hose, and tried again, this time it worked for a couple days, but leaked at the ends where the hoses connected to the panels. After a couple days running one of the panels ruptured from the amount of pressure. I didn't know it ruptured and it ended up draining my pool.

I must preface that I have a Master's degree in chemistry with a minor in physics. I believe I have a better than average mechanical ability. Also, until ordering from this manufacturer, I have used another manufacturer's panels for 5 years.

For me, this product has failed on 3 accounts:

The most serious problem is that while I could easily connect the three segments on one end using their bayonet-style connector design, I could not connect any of the three segments together on the other end (1). The instructions were not explicit as how to connect the panels, presuming it to be obvious to the assembler (2).

The third problem was that extra assembly hardware was present and needed assembly hardware was absent.

I only put in a 4x10 section, I can add more, i'll think about it. but I piped it to a sunny spot, raised my pool temp 4 degress above my neighbors pool, so it is effective, recommend putting shutoffs so you can bypass it once the pool heats up enough. don't need it in august.
