Hi Everyone,

Here is an update from my last post. I spoke to who I believe, is the owner of the good4u company and we had a good conversation. She has checked into the problems I was having and is taking action. A third party who is a raw food equipment supplier suggested to me that with the growing popularity of dehydrators these types of growing pains can happen. I tend to agree with him.

The construction of the good4u dehydrator is probably not as sturdy as the Excalibur but there are several features of this good4u dehydrator that I like better than the Excalibur and I hope that I can resolve this issue and find a solution.

One of the things I like about the good4u unit is that it does not need a door and you don't have to rearrange the food or move the trays for even dehydrating. The sides of this unit are solid so there is no hot air flow coming out of the sides as with some other units. It is also less expensive. I will keep you posted.

New EdenPURE Infrared Heater US1000 Reviews

I have a medium open living/dining area with high ceilings. I, like most wanted something to help with the heating costs. This machine worked well during the day when I had it running on high with the fireplace going and would warm the room to 70-71 degrees. At night, I put the central gas heat on 64, turned off the fireplace and left the Edenpure running on high. When I woke up, the room was 64, just as I had set the thermostat on the central heat. So needless to say, it did not work at all as the main heat was kicking on. I also do not like the fact that there is no digital thermostat but just several lines to indicate the level of heat and there is no timer. I actually have ordered another similar unit from Home Depot that has both of these features, has two more additional heating elements and is supposed to heat up a 1500 sq foot room and only cost $259 with free shipping. And of course the added bonus of being able to return it directly to the local store if I do not like it. This Edenpure I purchased is rated to heat 1000 sq feet. So, I personally cannot recommend this product.

Consumer Reports, February 10, 2010:

Heating Claims Don't Add Up

Manufacturers of electric space heaters want you to believe that using one of their devices will lower your heating bill. Lowering your home's thermostat(s) and using your main heating system less in tandem with a space heater--called zone heating--will cut your utility bill. (Every degree you lower the thermostat(s) can save you about 2 percent on your heating bill.) But keep in mind that based on current national average prices and adjusting for the energy losses due to burning a fuel, heating with electricity is about two and a half times more expensive than heating with gas, the most common heating fuel in this country.

EdenPure suggests that "you can turn the heat down in your house as low as 50°F, yet the room you are in will be warm and comfortable. When you move to another room, the EdenPure goes with you. Its wheels make relocation a snap." That scenario assumes that you have to heat only a single room to heat at a time or that you own multiple EdenPure space heaters; that once you're in a room you stay put and don't move around the house; and that you're willing to keep the rest of your home at a chilly 50°F. Lowering the thermostat(s) by 3°F would likely result in minimal discomfort for you and your family, but are you willing to keep your home at 50°F?

...Its design essentially negates the radiant-heating effect, so it operates more like a typical fan-forced convection heater. While a fan can help mix the room air, there is typically some temperature variation, with cooler air near the floor and warmer air near the ceiling.

Humidity Information Seems All Wet

EdenPure says its heaters "protects the humidity level and air quality important to breathing comfort and personal health," and also notes that "Heat from the copper tubing rides the humidity in the room and provides moist, soft heat--ceiling-to-floor, wall-to-wall--without reducing oxygen or humidity."

Simply put, when you heat a room with any space heater and don't also have an additional source of humidity, say a humidifier, the total moisture in the air in that space will stays the same but the relative humidity will go down, not up. That's true for every space heater we've tested...

We needed a heater for our fifth wheel and I prefer products made in the USA (especially electric products), so after reviewing many heaters decided on the Edenpure. It really does the job! Saved quite a bit on propane and heats the whole 5th wheel. Plus it's a lot quieter than our furnace. We've been extremely pleased.

Honest reviews on New EdenPURE Infrared Heater US1000

Years ago,I purchased two Edenpure, very efficient and safe, model Gen 3 heaters. One of the heaters was a refurbished model. Both heaters worked great, until the refurbished heater stopped producing heat. I called the company, being that a refurbished hearter did not carry a regular warranty, I could not get help..not even a timely answer from the on line trouble shooting expert. It was the Christmas vacation week for my grandchildren who were coming to stay with me in upstate NY., and without two heaters, my home is really cold. After a long wait for the online company representative to get back to me, only for him to write back stating that he lost my e-mail and what was my heater problem. I wrote him back, but again never recieved answered, and with the nearest repair shop for these heaters hundreds of miles away from my home, I went to BJ's store to see what brands of heaters they had available. To my surprise BJ's had 1 Edenpure US1000, which I purchased. Edenpure has made some changes;the US1000 heater uses three bulbs instead of the 5 bulbs as in the original heaters and I believe runs a bit cooler, not giving the wide spectrum of heat output as the older models did. The Edenpure is a safe and attractive looking heater, and I feel very comfortable when my grndchildren are at my home, knowing that they will not be harmed by any heating elements.

I bought 2! The heater works very well. We run it in the room where our TV and thermostat are located. It raises the temperature to around 72 degrees, which keeps the heat from coming on. As long as we stay in that room, it's nice. The rest of the 1st floor of the house gets very cold unless we run the second heater in another room. These are idea for trailers or small homes. If you have a bigger house you may want to buy a couple of them but, would you really be saving any money then???.

I bought this hoping to connect a grill to the quick-connect fitting on the outside of our 2007 travel trailer. Unfortunately, there are no other details telling what this plug fits, even after a thorough web search including Mr. Heater's own website. I can now tell you that it does not fit this type of quick-connector. Rather than going through the hassle of returning a $10 item I attempted to find out what it takes to make it fit.

First off, the excess flow mechanism of this plug is a small ball-bearing that is pressed into the back of the plug if the flow is too great, either reducing or cutting off the flow. Since the propane is already regulated, this is not required. It also seemed to restrict the flow some.

Second, the retaining ring for the ball-bearing makes the hole of the plug too small. Stopping the flow of propane from the quick-connector.

Third, the tip of the plug too long and if you can get it locked into the connector it will cut-off the flow to the plug.

To get around these problems and make it work for my set up, I drilled out the retaining ring, removed the ball-bearing, and ground the tip down about an 1/16 of an inch. Works perfectly now.

The quality of the plug is fine, Amazon shipped it fast, its just the lack of information on this is the problem. If you know for sure you need this exact plug, you probably won't be disappointed. There is another plug that is not excess flow, that looks very similar, but beware if it is exactly same it may not work for an RV quick-connector. Hopefully this will help anyone else looking for the same connector.

I bought it to hook up my preplumbed RV hook up to my bar b que. It doesn't fit Tip is too long so I filed it down then it restricts the gas flow so much the bar b que will not get hot enough to cook anything. WORTHLESS!!

i bought this quick connect propane fitting to connect a bbq or my propane stove. When i recived it i tried to plug it in my quick connect plug that is located underneth the rear right side of the rv to find out that it just wouldn't plug in! now i thought that it was all the same plug for any rv! ahhhhh WRONG! WHY MAKE THINGS EASY WHEN IT CAN BE COMPLICATED!!!! Thanks to the gentelmen who left the first review of this fitting he had the same problem as i'am having right now and like him i'm not going to send back a $10.00 fitting which the shipping cost would probably cost half as much as the fitting itself so like him i'll try to make it fit!

These work especially well when the logs are damp, and it is difficult to keep other starters burning long enough to ignite them.

This is a good alternative instead of having the full sized logs. I feel that both work well, but this is much more space friendly.

Cheap 12V, Travel Mug, Stainless Steel

I have had many kinds of 12v mugs. Most have been poor quality and inexpensive. I decided to buy what looked like a new design and was 3-4 times more expensive than any I had previously purchased. I WAS WRONG!!! The design was new but the effectiveness of the product was sadly lacking. To the touch it felt warm on the inside. but it did not have the capability of keeping even very warm coffee warm. I had tried it for even 2 hours and the contents going in warm came out practically cold. I bought two cups--so it was not just one defective cup. I returned them to Amazon! :(

I saw this RoadPro mug in a Pilot Truck Stop so figured if truckers buy it it must work. Wrong. My coffee woluld stay warmer sitting in the sun. USB 5v doesn't do a thing. The 12v from the car not much better. I had a $6 12v mug from Walmart that kept the coffee hot but it only lasted 6 months and was only a christms item. I'll wait.

Heating is very weak, but it does heat (sort of). Mine had a leak in the bottom when I received it, which I repaired, assuming it was a fluke and not just poorly made. I am not terribly impressed with this mug, but it does keep hot drinks from getting completely cold. It doesn't do much more than that.

Honest reviews on 12V, Travel Mug, Stainless Steel

The coffee is very hot for a long time and the USB is very convenient to use. My problem with the cup is that it drips when you drink from it. The lid is on tight and the coffee is not higher than the bottom of the lid. I wanted to email you about this problem but maybe this is enough to get a response.

Overall the cup functions well as a cup. Don't expect much beyond that. Heating element draws too much power causing USB ports on PC's to report a 'over current' situation on a USB port and then deactivates that port. Also blows fuses in the car. You get what you pay for.

We bought this for our nursery b/c it is difficult to regulate the temp in our son's room. We kept it on low heat/humidify, but one problem is w/o an auto-shutoff, it would get so warm in the room that we would have to turn the unit on and off throughout the night to keep the temp decent. We only used it for 2-3 weeks before we returned it and bought an auto-shutoff unit and separate humidifier. Within that timeframe, our electric bill went from $50 a month to $116!!!

Another issue is the heat and humidity kind of work against each other: the heating unit is on the bottom and the humidifier is on the top, so when the cool mist comes out, the heat that's rising seems to evaporate the mist b/c it never actually feels 'humid' in the room (and it's a smaller room).

For the price, I definitely would not recommend this product it would be better on your wallet to simply get an auto-shutoff unit and separate humidifier...

I bought this product a year and half ago. The product worked good until I needed to get a new wick and lower roller due to roller breakeage. And then the problem started. Called Envion customer service and ordered the two items. When received, the wick was almost an inch wider then the old one, to the point that it rubbed the sides of the unit. The rollers arived as two upper rolers and not one upper and one lower. Called back talked to a supervisor who promissed to send the corrected items. Today the new wick arrived. It is the same larger size as before The rollers still has not arrived. This is going on two months and I still can't usr the unit.

Envion customer service is very poor.

This is our second season using the Humidiheat humidifier/heater/air washer. We researched quite a few humidifiers last winter and we're very happy we settled on this one. We use this in our bedroom and it has proven to be more than adequate. Our primary need was for a humidifier, so the fact that this is also a heater and air washer are the icing on the cake. To compare the air purifying qualities of this appliance to that of a stand-alone air purifier would be silly, but the fact that it does clean the air to some degree is impressive for what this is.

The humidifier uses a wicking mechanism. The "wick" rotates vertically and the moisture it absorbs from the water container then gets blown into the air by the fan. The controls are easy to understand and you can use just the heater or just the humidifier, or both together.

The water container holds enough water for easily a 24-hour period if you run the humidifier constantly. You can simply top off the water container each day, but eventually you need to empty it and clean it because the water does get cloudy. This, I assume, is from the impurities in the air that get trapped on the wick and then deposited in the water as the wick passes through it. The wick is easy to remove for cleaning and can be washed by hand or in the washing machine. You can order extra wicks from the manufacturer.

All in all, the Humidiheat does everything it says it does and at a very fair price.

Honest reviews on Humidiheat Heater/Humidifier

I must admit I was a bit skeptical when my wife wanted to purchase this because we were only shopping for a humidifier. However, it's really nice that this also has a built-in heater. We keep it in our bedroom and it does a great job of adding moisture to the air. I use the heater in the morning to warm up the room while I take my shower. You can use the heater and humidifier separately or together if you like moist heat.

This is not a whole-house humidifier, but if you're looking for a reasonably priced one that can handle one or two rooms and is easy to use, you can't go wrong with this machine. We run the humidifier 24/7 in the winter and fill the tank once a day. The water does get dirty, so I believe it to be fairly good at removing dirt and toxins from the air an added plus. To clean the wick, you just take it out and toss it in the washing machine.

Don't hesitate to buy one of these if it sounds like it will suit your needs. We bought ours at BB&B, but it looks like Amazon's price is just as good, if not better.

I love this, it's low maintenance and it warms my kitchen up in no time in the mornings. It's quiet and I don't have to lug any big heavy water tanks to fill it.

The item arrived a day early and I installed it in about 45 minutes. Checked out works as expected. Was going to throw out the Amish fireplace but I am glad I waited. It has a new life now . Will see how long it lasts The others are 3 years old and still running. At least there is a place to buy parts for repair. .

My last blower went out and I thought I was going to have to throw away my electric fireplace. I had a heat surge Amish wood built electric fireplace and we loved it. The blower started making terrible noises, thumping loudly. I knew the blower went and when I tried to get the part replaced through Heat surge they first told me they wouldn't sell me any parts, then told me $90!! I found this on amazon and now my electric fireplace is working perfectly. My kids get up in the morning and turn it on, we run it most of the day as we live in an older house with no insulation. Installation instructions didn't exist, and getting the fireplace apart took some time but taking off the old one and replacing the new was self explanatory and easy.

I have a ventless gas wall heater that needed a little circulation. This unit is so quiet and efficient. I bought an 80 degree thermal switch to allow it to turn on when warm and off when no heat is produced. The unit has a thermostat so everything is automatic. Our house is 115 years old and made of adobe and brick with plaster. The furnace does really well until it gets to be 10 degrees or below outside and the extra heat from this unit is great. Also, I feel better having the backup in case I am away and the electricity goes out. Of course, the little fan won't blow but the pipes won't freeze. The price was great and was shipped well packed. It can be attached with sheet metal screws easily and with the automatic thermostat it is self maintaining.
