Purchased this as addition to help windward side of apartment. Used it several times last year but more often this season. My wife was in our computer room with it on and all of a sudden, there was a bang, with electrical fire. Did not spread but caused a lot of apprehension on our parts. Would not purchase any product from this company again. Re-read their warranty and we did nothing to cause this to happen. .

Reviews of Comfort Zone CZ446 1300W FAN FORCED OSCILLATEDCERAMIC HEATER
I purchased this heater to put in my bathroom on the counter. It is the perfect size/height and it does put out heat, but it is a noisy little thing. It rattle and shakes, quite annoying. I found I was constantly trying to adjust it to make the rattling stop. I finally put a towel under the heater, maybe not the safest thing to do, but it stopped the noise. Other then that it is a nice heater. LOL!!

Here is a video of the GHP L-20W Pleasant Hearth 20" Electric Crackling Natural Wood Log in action, situated in an actual fireplace. The log assembly is sitting atop the grate that GHP makes specifically for the L-20W. (Video updated on 2/5/11)
Now, it's not without its faults. The first one I received started humming loudly shortly after I first used it. It rapidly got to the point of annoyance where it was simply unusable, so I sent it back for an exchange. The second one seems to be doing better, but I have noticed a bit of a motor hum sometimes. For this one I dampened the vibration/hum a little by putting a piece of foam pipe insulation under each "foot" where it touched the metal grate of my fireplace. I think this helps with the vibration by reducing it going into the medal grate, which is what I believe amplifies that hum.
I ended up installing mine on a wireless remote that also controls all my lights, so I'm able to sit in a chair, push a button, and start my fire. Not clap-on/clap-off, but pretty close! It's pretty nice for what it is. I don't see how any of these fake, non-heating fireplaces could be any better, even though some are hundreds of dollars more expensive. This one does the trick and for a relatively cheap price.
Edit: One more thing -don't waste your money on the high priced decorative grate that is specifically designed for this product. Just about any fireplace grate will do. I picked up one from a local hardware store for $12 that works perfectly.
I did not need the heater as I have excellent heat in this independent living facility that I live in. My apartment is small and without a fireplace which is one thing that I will not do without even if I buy my own and carry it with me wherever I go. I did some extra decorative work to make it look more real and in a way you cannot tell that it is a fake. I think it might be able to fool a very young child at first sight and maybe fool the younger child a longer period of time.
These logs are at a price that the poor can afford and much, much lower in price than they could be. The video shows the electric logs as they actually are and so does the advertisement picture of them. These logs are a real blessing for me and I will pray for the inventor and maker of them as he or she is blessing people with these.
Well I received these logs in 2011 and every winter beginning in November it is turned on and stays turned on round the clock until March comes in. At Christmas it is awesome to look at and everyone that sees it like it very much.
One lady could not believe it had no heat and went directly up to it and put her hand directly on the fake fire. No heat at all. I am blessed, I am so blessed with these logs.

I am a very picky decorator and I would prefer a real fireplace, but after hearing my hubby gripe about gas prices and only turning on my gas fireplace for special occasions, I looked for an inexpensive option, and this was perfect. Honestly, with a little doctoring it looks great. I already had a decorative screen and log rack, which really adds to the effect. I also added a small piece of wood across the lit window in the front so it did not look like a perfect rectangle of orange light, which also looks great. I read on another site that some people hid a mirror (or piece of foil) behind the flame to enhance the glow (I haven't tried that, but it might add to the glow effect). The turn on switch is in an odd place, so we plugged it into one of those add in plugs that can be turned on right at the plug or by remote, which is great. The "crackling" sound is a bit odd, but hardly noticeable really. If you play with the piece of metal by bending it, it almost sounds like a true crackle. Put it this way...it's A GREAT DEAL FOR THE MONEY (and you can have it on in any kind of weather)!!!!Best Deals on GHP Group Pleasant Hearth 20" Electric Crackling Natural Wood Log
This was surprisingly nice electric fire log. They use real wood in the construction, so it actually looks pretty good -maybe not so much when you take it out of the box and sit it on the table, but when it's in your fireplace it looks rather realistic. Turning it on only enhances that realistic appearance even more -it really does look like a glowing, crackling fire, and unless you point out that it's fake, most people would probably not give it a second glance . They'd just think you had a nice fire going. You can increase or decrease the "crackling" noise of the "fire" by bending the metal shield in the back in/out. I also enhanced the overall look by adding some more wood sticks to the front of it so it didn't look quite so perfect of a stack of wood. Now, it's not without its faults. Honest reviews on GHP Group Pleasant Hearth 20" Electric Crackling Natural Wood Log
I purchased a used electric fireplace that is old, very beautiful and just not made like this anymore. However because of a broken part the electric fire was not operable and I have been looking and pondering for almost one year what to do about the situation as I was not going to part with my beautiful electric fireplace with mantel. Wallah you had the answer and now I am in electric fireplace "LOG HEAVEN."I did not need the heater as I have excellent heat in this independent living facility that I live in. I loved this little crackling fire at first. It looked great in my vintage, acorn fireplace. However, after only two weeks the motor has gone. Now it is so annoyingly loud I can't even turn it on. It first started making excessive noise after only one week. I found by positioning it differently it became quiet again but only for a short time. I live in Ontario, so shipping it back to Amazon for an exchange will cost me at least $25. and I don't think that it's worth it. I will most likely have to find some place to have it fixed. So sad.Sunday, September 28, 2014
Reviews of Mr. Heater F276328 Propane or Natural Gas Male Excess Flow Plug

I bought this hoping to connect a grill to the quick-connect fitting on the outside of our 2007 travel trailer. Unfortunately, there are no other details telling what this plug fits, even after a thorough web search including Mr. Heater's own website. I can now tell you that it does not fit this type of quick-connector. Rather than going through the hassle of returning a $10 item I attempted to find out what it takes to make it fit.
First off, the excess flow mechanism of this plug is a small ball-bearing that is pressed into the back of the plug if the flow is too great, either reducing or cutting off the flow. Since the propane is already regulated, this is not required. It also seemed to restrict the flow some.
Second, the retaining ring for the ball-bearing makes the hole of the plug too small. Stopping the flow of propane from the quick-connector.
Third, the tip of the plug too long and if you can get it locked into the connector it will cut-off the flow to the plug.
To get around these problems and make it work for my set up, I drilled out the retaining ring, removed the ball-bearing, and ground the tip down about an 1/16 of an inch. Works perfectly now.
The quality of the plug is fine, Amazon shipped it fast, its just the lack of information on this is the problem. If you know for sure you need this exact plug, you probably won't be disappointed. There is another plug that is not excess flow, that looks very similar, but beware if it is exactly same it may not work for an RV quick-connector. Hopefully this will help anyone else looking for the same connector.

I bought it to hook up my preplumbed RV hook up to my bar b que. It doesn't fit Tip is too long so I filed it down then it restricts the gas flow so much the bar b que will not get hot enough to cook anything. WORTHLESS!!Best Deals on Mr. Heater F276328 Propane or Natural Gas Male Excess Flow Plug
i bought this quick connect propane fitting to connect a bbq or my propane stove. When i recived it i tried to plug it in my quick connect plug that is located underneth the rear right side of the rv to find out that it just wouldn't plug in! now i thought that it was all the same plug for any rv! ahhhhh WRONG! WHY MAKE THINGS EASY WHEN IT CAN BE COMPLICATED!!!! Thanks to the gentelmen who left the first review of this fitting he had the same problem as i'am having right now and like him i'm not going to send back a $10.00 fitting which the shipping cost would probably cost half as much as the fitting itself so like him i'll try to make it fit!Honest reviews on Mr. Heater F276328 Propane or Natural Gas Male Excess Flow Plug

Cheap Coleman 2000004165 Blackcat Catalytic Heater Heaters, Camping
its important to note that this unit does not have electric start. this one you have to light with a match/lighter. that being said, i would recommend this as an option for anyone looking for heat without the worry of fumes. i used this to heat an apartment without other utilities. it was a must have! obviously follow manufactures directions and observe safety precautions. i would generally get 5-7 hours of heat out of one cannister.

Purchased this Blackcat specifically because it appeared to be the older, non plastic style and paid a bit of a premium over the new version. When it arrived I realized it was in fact the new version. Picture is incorrect. This heater starts easy with a a match or lighter. It is very quiet, produces heat quickly, and the heater is light and easy to move around. It is great for heating a tent or a cold bathroom. I don't think this model is in production anymore, The replacement models are giant pieces of bulky plastic, big, ugly, and bulky. I am very pleased with this item, it really takes the chill out.Honest reviews on Coleman 2000004165 Blackcat Catalytic Heater Heaters, Camping

Bought this to keep warm ice fishing. Not enough btu's. Great for a small tent or a camping trip just to keep the chill out. I have a 6X6 tent and on a 20* day or less, it's not enough. If you are looking to stay warm in cold situations, buy something else. Over priced product.Saturday, August 9, 2014
Buy Sunbeam Hot Shot Hot Water Dispenser
I've used a Hot Shot a whole lot for heating up water for drinking various types of tea and other beverages. If it's right for what you're brewing, it really is a great product--the water is heated within a minute or two, which is way faster than a kettle, and it holds the perfect amount for a large mug.
There are a couple things to note though. Like other reviewers have said, because of the product's design, some taller mugs (especially large vacuum-sealed caddy mugs) won't fit in to receive the water, so you either can't use them or have to dispense the water into another container first and pour it from there. Also, you definitely should empty the excess water after you're done--you might even want to open the lid while it's still warm to let the extra moisture evaporate. This is because the inside is metal, and re-re-reheated water that's been sitting in there gets a bit gross and might not be the healthiest.
The last issue, which affects me more than it may others, is that the Hot Shot heats the water to boiling or very near to boiling. This is great if you're drinking black tea, hot chocolate, or hot cider, but if you're drinking green tea (which takes hot water that is well below boiling), the water from the Hot Shot can be too hot and make the tea bitter. If it's right for the beverage you want to make, though, I can't recommend a more convenient or quick option.
We have used a Hot Shot for many years, replacing the first two because they eventually stopped heating water sufficiently (only up to 160 degrees F). Since they had become a mainstay in our kitchen, used several times a day, we were eager to replace the last one, and ordered the sleek new black model, which is of a somewhat different design than the original.
The first one we received from Amazon leaked considerably if we didn't use up all the water that had been heated, so we sent it back (Amazon paid for the entire return postage and sent us a new one at no extra cost). The second one leaked just like the first one, through the dispenser spout, when water was left to sit in the heating chamber. We never had this problem with the older model.
I am giving it two stars instead of only one, since some people may not mind being sure to empty the heating chamber after each use. (If it didn't leak, I would give it 4 stars -and 5 stars, if it were also tall enough to accomodate taller cups).
Also, a tall cup/mug won't fit under the spout. So I pour the water from one cup to another. I do like the old hot shot, saves time and electricity.I gave it one star because I do like the hot shot water heater, I just don't like this one.
UPDATE: A couple months after I wrote this review, there was a burning smell--the cheap thing burned out. Meanwhile it leaked water into the cabinets below and spoiled the food.
I went without one for a while, but eventually bought another one because I like the concept... put in cold water, press a button, come back to boiling water. I bought the cheapest I could find because it won't last. I'm just glad I don't have to replace all my other appliances every year.
I owned this for 150 days and then it quit. We took it apart, basically this design is living on borrowed time as the unit will eventually fail.
Sunbeam placed the actual electronic switch below the aluminum bowl part and on top of the plastic housing. The grey button on the top is nothing more than a lever to another piece that actually depresses the electronic switch below the aluminum bowl. The real electronic switch is less than an inch from where the water flows from the aluminum bowl and out the dispenser. That switch, also sits right next to the heating element. Now you don't need to be an engineer to know that electronics don't care for heat and they don't care for water. In our case the heat killed the electronic "on" switch. I am not sure where the previous model's (3211) actual "on" switch was, but it had to be in a smarter location that this for it to last TEN years.
So the old design, built in the US apparently lasted 10 years and the new design, made in China lasted 150 days. I should have read the 1-star reviews as I would have found that just about every owner of the previous model have had nothing but bad experience with this model. Don't discount the opinions of those that owned the previous model. I don't think I will ever buy another Sunbeam product again, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
P.S. The only reason we replaced our ten year old 3211 model was because the rubber or plastic seal in the dispenser part had worn out and the unit would leak while dispensing.

I've used a Hot Shot for at least 20 years and won't go without one. But they are made real cheap now. My son is still using the one he bought over 10 years ago. I had this less than a year when it leaked, and is getting worse. Put water in, press the button. Before you get the water poured in and put the cup under the spout it is dripping, real fast now. By the time the water is heated, if I grab it real quick I lose about 2 tbsp. (in about a minute). If I don't catch it right away it will leak enough so I have to warm up more water to make a full cup. I keep a towel under the spout now. This worked good for a few months. Think about it, if every small appliance in your kitchen had to be replaced within a year......Also, a tall cup/mug won't fit under the spout. So I pour the water from one cup to another. This product has been around for over a decade, and for good reason: it works, and works well. My mother bought me one in Fall 1993 when I went off to college and lived in a tiny dorm room. It has served me well ever since. Nearly 12 years later, it still works as well as the day I got it. It really does heat 16 ounces of water to boiling in under 2 minutes. It's insulated so the outside does not get hot. Just remember to only heat water inside of it, not other liquids. It has a nice, clean look and a modern design which I'd even call "cute". The cord stores underneath the base when not in use, for a clutter-free appearance. I'd recommend it to everyone for a wide variety of situations.Wednesday, July 23, 2014
Set of 2 Portable Heating Vent Register Humidifiers Review
I live in a studio apartment that measures somewhere between 500 to 600 square feet. My heating and cooling is derived from one very long vent that sits about a foot and a half above the floor. I use both humidifier units along the vent, but to cover it completely I would probably need four of them. Given that my setup and the size of my apartment is not ideal, this review will focus more on the product than on how effective it is.
It's not apparent from the pictures, but the water-absorbant material is actually foam that isn't so different than the types found in packing materials. This is a bit surprising, since this material isn't as water-absorbant as a sponge. In fact, if the material is dry and you attempt to water the humidifier from above, the water will simply sit on top of the foam and will not penetrate it. I rehydrate it at a sink. The company's instructions suggest squeezing the foam while under running water so as to maximize the amount of water absorbed. It probably helps, but the foam doesn't seem to take up a whole lot of water even then. Unless you allow it to sit for a few minutes, you can also expect to drip some water in the process of moving from the sink to the vent.
One could argue that the choice of foam over traditional sponge material is for airflow purposes. However, even with my single vent (which pushes air with more force than a standard vent system found in houses), the air is forced around the humidifier and does not go through it. This isn't a bad thing for heating systems (since hot air rises anyway), but isn't optimal for air conditioning. Granted, most people will probably use this for winter, but all in all it seems as if the choice to use foam over a different material was likely cost-based.
I had a bad experience with the construction that required some work on my part. Each humidifier has six "feet" that raise it above the vent so that it does not obstruct airflow. Each foot is attached to the main frame by a nut and bolt. When I unpacked my units, many of the feet and their securing nuts were loose in the bag, and many of the feet that remained on the unit had nuts that were nowhere near fully tightened. No tools are shipped with the product, and none of my own tools were small enough to do the job. I ended up using tweezers to thread the nuts along their bolts and affix the feet to the units. I couldn't get them very tight, but it gets the job done a job I should not have had to do. The difficulty (and lack of tools) with getting the feet on and off also makes it clear that the foam was not intended to be removed from the casing for soaking.
Being unable to remove the foam leads to another complaint. While the units look pleasing enough, after two or three rehydrations I noticed that one of the bolts is showing signs of rusting. It's one out of 12 (between two units), but it's clear that it can only get worse from here. The white plastic surrounding the bolts will become a discolored yellow-brown. As the saying goes, "you get what you pay for" it's just another thing to consider.
As far as effectiveness goes, I can't really comment. As I mentioned before my setup is probably not optimal; all the same, it doesn't seem to be making a big difference. The foam does dry out over time, meaning that the air in my apartment is being humidified. It's questionable as to whether it's much more effective than setting out bowls of water and waiting for the water to evaporate from them, though.
In summary, it's a cheap product that doesn't consume electricity to use, but is a bit of a pain to rehydrate. If you have a small room and/or only need slightly more humidity it might be worth trying, but otherwise it doesn't seem worth it. It seems to me that you could make one of these yourself by propping up a wet towel or sponge an inch or so above a vent in fact, I may open up the casing on these humidifiers and replace the foam with sponges. It works...a little bit. It covers the vent and the air pressure from the vent doesn't get through the product very well.

Best Endless Summer Model GWU9209SP Stainless Steel Deluxe Residential Deals
Very disappointing.... 3 hours to assemble... and even with a plumber friend had a hard time getting the LP gas connections safely connected. Overall this unit seems a bit cheap and flimsy -wouldn't buy this again if I had the chance to do it over. Keep looking there's got to be a better unit on the market!
update: March 2008: It's now been a year since we bought this and every time we turn it on I feel a little guilty about this review. Yes, assembly was a pain, but once we got it together, it's worked flawlessly since and puts out great heat. Amazon won't let me upgrade this to 3 or 4 stars, but I did want to add that this has been a good unit.
Update: April 2013... NOW I FEEL REALLY GUILTY!!! This little unit has put up with a lot of abuse (besides my original review)... it's always outside in the rain and the wind... it's gotten banged up by contractors...dropped... you name it... and it just keeps going. I fired it up tonight for the first time in a year... and it instantly lit, after about 3 minutes of bleeding the pilot... amazing!!!
I definitely take back my prior review... 5 stars....it's lasted 5 years, taken a lot of abuse, and still works like a champ.
The first unit took about two hours to unpack and assemble but I was taking my time and making sure I did everything right the first time. The second unit took about an hour and the third about 45 minutes. I have a decent tool set but am only average on the assembly skills and so I expect others will be able to put these together faster.
The units put out a really good amount of heat and once they have been on for 5 to 10 minutes we have to turn them down because they are just too hot which is an outstanding result. My in laws were visiting and after experiencing an outdoor dinner and breakfast they were hooked and planning on ordering one of the these for themselves.
We had dinner at a local restaurant later in the week we got these and we ate outdoors under their heatlamps and ... you guessed it they had the same exact heat lamps as these. Since then I have seen these same units in a number of restaurants around town that have outdoor dining. You know if the local restaurants are using them then they must be sturdy and longlasting.
I highly recommend these units to anyone that wants to heat their patios and are looking for a high quality unit that puts out a good amount of heat.
I opened the box and removed all of the pieces; when I got to the bottom I realized that all of the assembly hardware was strewn about, but the package the hardware was supposed to be in was there (albeit empty) along with the instructions. It appeared as though everything was present.
Hoping for the best, I began assembly and soon realized what I was up against. The instructions are horrible and could easily be re-written, as several of the individual steps are actually multiple procedures that must be done sequentially (you'll figure it out as you go, make sure your ratchet set is reversible). These steps are demonstrated by archaic line drawings that have no orienting details whatsoever, and I estimate a good half hour of my two-hour assembly was wasted due to this oversight. In hindsight, one could probably complete the entire assembly of this product in 30-45 minutes with accurate instructions. After a lot of head-scratching, I finally reached the last few steps, which involve assembling the dome at the top. This was when the Chinese engineering really came to light. Nothing lined up, nothing fit, and I almost sent this flimsy piece of trash Frisbee-like into the recycling bin. Some of the hardware for the dome assembly is supposed to be pre-attached, and at this point I realized that a few of the screws required for assembly were missing. After a trip to the hardware store, a bit of drilling, a bit of bending, a lot of twisting, and the creation of a few new curse words, I was finally able to complete this fine modern marvel.
I am still unsure if this was a returned item or not, but unless you have a lot of patience, are moderately handy, and enjoy a challenge created by a complete dearth of quality control and engineering, I suggest looking at another heater. On a positive note, it does work reasonably well when it lights (often requires the use of a lighter to get the pilot going). We'll see how long it lasts, but I would happily spend double the price for a quality unit with respectable fit and finish.
I have had other patio heaters at this price point and this is one of the better ones.
I love the natuaral gas option no worries about running out of gas!
Heavy base mitigates wind-storm tip overs
When it works, it really puts out the heat!
The Bad:
Assembly is non-trivial
The unit is somewhat unsturdy (wobly) once completed
Hard to tell when the pilot light is lit unless it's dark out
The Ugly:
I have had this heater for three years now and every year I have to replace the ignition and valve module. This is a big "heart transplant" kind of operation. The first two were free, but now they want me to pay... I will be finding a new heater.

These outdoor heaters are amazing. I ordered three of these from Amazon to heat a large patio with outdoor seating area and dining area and they do a fantastic job. I read the reviews here and noted the assembly warnings but these units were not difficult to put together and I didn't encounter any of the frustrations of the earlier reviewers and based on what they were saying in their reviews it looks like the manufacturer read the reviews and changed the assembly requirements. The first unit took about two hours to unpack and assemble but I was taking my time and making sure I did everything right the first time. After reading mixed reviews, I took a leap of faith on this patio heater. Unfortunately, that leap fell a bit short. Upon receiving the heater, I noticed that the box was double-taped. This usually indicates either a) the manufacturer is taking an extra step to ensure secure packaging; or b) the product was opened, re-taped, and returned. There were no other shipping labels or evidence of label removal, so I assumed it was double-taped from the factory.I opened the box and removed all of the pieces; when I got to the bottom I realized that all of the assembly hardware was strewn about, but the package the hardware was supposed to be in was there (albeit empty) along with the instructions. Overall good product. The assembly is fairly easy but will take a couple of hours. The one difficult part is connecting the gas line nozzle tip to the heating element portion (the "engine"). It does not want to click easily. You will need a strong person and a helper. Use a little 3-in-1 oil to make the job easier, twist gently, and don't give up. After that it works fine.I have had other patio heaters at this price point and this is one of the better ones.

I bought this for my husband for christmas because he loves popcorn and we were working on setting up a tv/movie room in our new house. Best gift I ever bought! It looks great in the movie room and we use it all the time. I got the black one becuase the other colors seems too bright and didn't go with my decor at all. I like this better than the traditional red and yellow ones that you see every where. Also, other ones that I looked at were cheap looking. This one is really nice. Makes the great addition to any home. Especially for popcorm lovers or movie lovers! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a real vintage popcorm maker. Well worth the money!!

Discount Lasko Pro Performance Blower Fan, 4900
Hey folks! I must say that this Lasko fan is VERY impressive. I've owned this fan for well over 5 years ... and it works just as good as day 1.
It's exceptionally quite because it uses a turbine not blades. It moves a vast amount of air, even on low speed. It would blow away any typical $15 box fan. I'd be willing to bet that it would outperform an 18" Patten high velocity air circulator! It's also better than the similar looking Stanley, which get high marks from reviewers here.
I found that the Stanley is a smaller less powerful fan and it's not built as tough. Remember to compare the size and weight and you'll see a difference. For an extra $10, this fan is a much better buy.
Incidentally, I have 3 cats and I had suspected that cat fur might have reduced the performance of this fan ... so I decided to take it apart. This was easily done by removing approximately 8 screws. My suspicions were correct! I found what appeared to be a 1/2 inch thick blanket of cat hair on the turbine. This was nearly choking the air flow. I cleaned it out and then blew it out with my air compressor. The fan now runs like new, full force again.
The reason to tell this cat story is simply you need to know that this fan is serviceable ... by you, as long as you own a Philips screwdriver. Other fans cannot be serviced and would NEVER last over 5 years.
I saw no reviews on this fan, so I felt compelled to let you know my experience. I would recommend this fan over ANY other fan without hesitation.
One last note: as an alternate choice, I also had this Lasko tower fan (turbine) for over 5 years. Lasko #4924 High Velocity Blower (overpriced here $49 at Sam's Club)
Cheers!
Jeff
The design is shared with a few other brands but this one additionally has the power outlets on the side. Those might come in handy for tools. The power cord is a large grounded version that is about 8' long. The angle (height) can be adjusted. Although I'd just like to point out here that due to the smaller than normal footprint of this fan, it can easily be sat on top of other things, making placement very flexible. It pulls air in from the side so if you are trying to pull in fresh air, it will need to be sat back a little farther than a standard fan with blades.
Noise, while present, is not excessive. Actually, it's not too bad at all. I could sit and watch TV with this thing running and it wouldn't be too distracting. The sound is a constant and doesn't consist of any clicking or rattling noises that would become annoying.
I really like this fan and plan to use it for many things.
They move a ton of air, and do it much quieter than a normal fan. Very highly recommended.

Just wanted to update my review a bit, I have had this fan going on at least 10 years and it still works just like new. It sure doesn't look like it, but I have had no problems what so ever with it. A few times it has gotten so dirty and full of dust that I have used my small pressure washer to blast it clean, and it still works great. Probably wouldn't recommend doing that, but hey it owes me nothing at this point.
It's very simply to fix, takes 15 mins, and just two tools.
You'll need a Philips screwdriver and a 10mm socket.
All but one of the screws are the same size, so no need to worry about what screw comes from what hole.
Unplug the unit!
With the unit sitting up right, take the 2 screws out of the black housing (opposite of the power side). One is just below the handle, one is in the back below the cylinder.
Now, sit the unit on its side (power side down). From the bottom supports, take out the two screws in each support from the side you've just taken the screws from.
Now, you can take off the outside panel with the grating on it.
With that off, you can see the handle attaches into the inside of the black housing. Here's the different screw you need to take off, from the handle, you'll see a smaller silver screw, take that off and now you can remove the cylinder with the inside black panel attached.
Lift up, you'll have to spin the cylinder around until you'll see there is a notch out of it that matches up with a notch on the inside. Sit the cylinder aside.
You'll see the blower cylinder, and it's attached with a bolt to the main cylinder (what it spins on). Use the 10mm socket and unscrew it.
Take the plastic cover and bolt off by lifting straight up on it.
Before you lift off the cylinder, give it a spin. On mine, it was still brushing up against the plastic, that's the noise that you hear in the one video review, or what you've heard in person. Now, you can lift up the blower cylinder. Sit both aside.
Leave the washer on the blower spindle (where the blower cylinder sits on). You'll hopefully see three silver screws holding the motor to the housing. Make sure they are tight.
Sit the blower cylinder back onto the spindle. It has a flat spot on the spindle that needs to match up with the blower cylinder. Do NOT try to force it on, it should slide right on. Now, give the cylinder a spin, notice if it still makes any noise, or if it's now very quiet.
Just repeat the process to put it back together. Make sure to tighten the bolt for the blower cylinder but not overly tight, as you are dealing with plastic! The one thing I did differently was when putting on the yellow cylinder, I lined it up with the handle and then rather than try to fish the notches together by spinning it around, I just pushed it down gently until it popped over the notch.
7 screws and one bolt later, I was a very happy customer. Hopefully, this helps you if you find the motor making awful noise. Good luck.
I'd recommend this over any fan I've ever had. Buy it and you will find many uses for it that will truly save you.

This is truly an amazing fan. I was at a local BBQ place and they had one of these circulating air in there. It was putting out so much air that I had to go take a look to see what brand it was. So I ordered one the same day from Amazon. I'm somewhat of a hobby person around the house and on occasion I need something to remove fumes (paint, glue, whatever) from an enclosed area... quickly. This thing will do it.The design is shared with a few other brands but this one additionally has the power outlets on the side. Those might come in handy for tools. I agree 100% with the other review. I also purchased this probably 5 years ago from Sams club and have since purchased a few more. I have used these daily working as a trim carpenter to keep the air moving in the homes during those hot days and they keep on ticking. They get dirty, bang around in the back of the truck, have gotten wet, and still work like the day they were new. They move a ton of air, and do it much quieter than a normal fan. Very highly recommended.

I took a gamble and ordered one of these, even with the bad reviews lately with the noise. Powered mine on, and yep, super noisy just the other reviews. Being a very handy person, I decided I'm going to fix this or attempt to. One caveat, I've taken my furnace apart and changed out my blower motor, so this little fan didn't scare me. The problem I found was the motor, which is screwed in on the side with the power plug and outlet, was not screwed in, almost not at all. There are 3 screws holding on the motor to the housing. Two of the screws were only 25% screwed in, the third screw was inside the black housing (thankfully). It's very simply to fix, takes 15 mins, and just two tools.

I read hundreds of product reviews every year and have for 10 years, but almost never write one. I bought this fan at a Wal-mart a month ago for $45. I had not read any reviews, but wandered by the fan aisle at Wal-Mart that day. I wanted to find the quietest and most powerful. Guess what? It turned out the same fan was quietest and most powerful! That got my attention first. Next as I stood in front of it, it honestly cooled me off even there in the store and I got that same wonderful feeling I had when I was in grade school and we had the big fan on the floor and I'd aim it up and let it blow up my t-shirt. I winced a bit at the $45 price since many simple fans are half the price. I went ahead and bought it spur of the moment (as I had no plans to buy or consider a fan). I keep it near my recliner where I watch TV and it has saved me much in AC bills as it keeps me cool with that strong stream of air. Also, when I travel by car, I take it with me and it's a fantastic thing to have in the hotel room as it equalizes the temp and provides a steady strong stream to cool off completely in less than a minute when you've been out in the hot Texas weather. I'm thinking of getting several more so I don't have to pick this one up and move it with me. I'm certified in disaster recovery and this would be an excellent fan to more quickly dry an area which potentially could be at risk for mold if left for more than 48 hours. It's one of those products that now I would fight to keep! Not bad for an impulse purchase!!I'd recommend this over any fan I've ever had. Buy it and you will find many uses for it that will truly save you.

Reviews of Crock-Pot SCCPLC200-G 20-Ounce Lunch Crock Food Warmer
Customer Ratings:
List Price: $24.99
Sale Price: $19.88
Today's Bonus: 20% Off

UPDATE (7/25/12): One of the commenters posted a link where you can buy extra food containers for $5 off the crockpot website. Sweet!
Pros:
* It looks cool. It made a couple of my co-workers "ooh" and "aah".
* It is compact, light, and easy to carry.
* It warms food great as long as you remember to plug it in! On average, it warmed my food to comfortable eating temperature within 1 ½ hours. This has included all kinds of foods from basic pureed soup to liver and onions. (I like liver).
* There is no smell from the food until you take the lid off to eat.
* The inner bowl cools quickly. I unplug the warmer, leave the inner container in the warmer while I eat so I don't have to mess with how to remove a hot metal bowl. By the time I finish eating my lunch, the inner bowl is cool enough at the top for me to remove it.
* I like the fact that I don't have to use the work microwave. It saves me time because I used to take a Lysol wipe to the office kitchen counter and a soapy paper towel to the microwave before using it. My office has a high population of folks who bring their own lunch (maybe around 70), which is great for budgets, but not so great when you get skeeved out over the residual gunk that was all over the microwave over the course of the week. With this little warmer, I put my food in the container, and plug it in and it's done. I rinse out the container at work, but it goes in the dishwasher at home. I save 5 to 10 minutes of pre-cleaning the office kitchen space, and I don't have to wait until it's past the "lunch rush".
Cons:
* It would be great if you could buy extra containers for it. I could see myself packing a whole week's worth of containers on Sunday night. There are also some days when I work past dinner, and it would be nice to be able to bring food in a second container. I did buy a second warmer, but I'd rather pay half the price and get extra inner containers.
* Don't heat spinach in it. Turns out bitter.
Other information:
* The lid on the inner container usually pops up slightly after 10 minutes of warming. The instructions did note this might happen and to not try to put the lid back on.
Based on a couple of other reviews stating concerns about bacteria and food safety, I decided to do a little experiment. I put tap water in the inner container and tested the temperature of water every hour for three hours. I also decided to test the temperature of actual food, again testing the temperature every hour for 3 hours. I used a Thermapen Instant Read digital thermometer to measure the temperatures. The results are in the table below. According to the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) website, precooked foods need to be reheated to 165 °F when using a microwave. The FDA website states that hot foods at picnics should be kept at 140 °F. As you can see from the results I got, the water temperature surpassed the 165°F within an hour. The food surpassed the 140°F within 2 hours, and was just under 165 °F at about the 3 hour mark.
Time ----Temperature Water ----Temperature Food

The product is meant for warming cooked food only, and it does this slowly using non-adjustable low-power. The idea is that if you don't have access or don't want to use the office microwave -and don't mind a comparatively longer "wait" time (minimum of 1 hour for most foods, I would say) - for heating up your lunches, this appliance might be an option. When you get to work, for example, you could plug in the appliance right away, so that by lunch time, you'll have a hot meal ready to eat. For convenience, you can leave the warming base at work, and travel back and forth from home and office with the removable food container and lid only (but see caveat below).
Although the product heats up food just fine as is, you should know that the appliance does not have an on/off switch, so you're responsible for plugging and unplugging it if you can't work around this problem by plugging the warmer to a power strip that you can turn on and off (but then again, the warmer's relatively short power cord could be a problem for some). When your food is ready, you most likely have to eat it with the food container still on the warming base, because the container would likely be too hot to touch. This was sometimes a negative for me.
The food container's push-down / pull-up lid does not provide a really tight cover, so when you're transporting foods with liquids or sauces, make sure you keep the container in a secure, upright position. Finally, a food container that can also double as a microwaveable container can be a real life-saver when one is in a pinch for time and happens to have access to a microwave!
Pros:
Save money by bringing food to work instead of eating out.
Heats food throughout the day, unlike the food jar where it's hot in the morning and cooler at lunch.
NO MICROWAVED FOOD TASTE! Heats slowly and evenly without making food chewy or tough.
Cons:
Cheeses and cream sauces tend to separate.
Food can leak out if it turns over.
Can't take a meal with separate sides. Nit Picky i guess.
I honestly couldn't love this thing more. I use it almost every day. I found a nice little collapsible spork meant for camping that fits between the outer lid and the inner. Fantastic product you will not regret buying. EVER.

Time ----Temperature Water ----Temperature Food

it's exactly as the other reviewers said...if you're a cubicle dweller and hate hassling with lines at the office microwave, this gadget is for you. It only re-warms food (so no cooking any raw meat here), so if you plug it in when you get in the office in the morning, you'll have a hot lunch waiting for you at lunchtime. And there's absolutely no food cooking smell, so your cubicle neighbors don't know you're cooking lunch. The container seals in all food cooking smells until you open up the crock, at which point, your co-workers will know you're enjoying your lunch. The color isn't exactly as it appears on the photo..on the pix, the red color appears to be crimson/burgundy but it's exactly as described standard red/white (like the Target bulls-eye logo).Best Deals on Crock-Pot SCCPLC200-G 20-Ounce Lunch Crock Food Warmer
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program As you can see from the product image above, this portable, low-power Crock-Pot Food Warmer comes with a twisting outer lid and a short carry-handle. The enclosed inner bowl is removable, about 5 inches in diameter and 3 inches deep, comes with its own push-down / pull-up lid, made of stainless steel, and can hold as much as 20 ounce of cooked meals. The power cord is about 2.5 feet long, and wraps around the cord wrap on the base. The product is meant for warming cooked food only, and it does this slowly using non-adjustable low-power. I'm a technician and work out of my van. i plug this little guy into a power inverter in my van and off i go. I used to have to mess around every morning with a food jar if i wanted a hot home made meal. Boil the water. Pour the hot water into the food jar and let sit for 15 minutes. Microwave food and then pour out the water and try to spoon in the food through the narrow neck. Now i just dump my leftovers into the food container, take it outside and plug it in. around lunch time my food is piping hot.Pros:

Received this as a gift from my wife for Christmas. Since I'm a cube dweller, she figured this would be a fun and functional little desk accessory, and she was right! I've only used it once so far but it worked exactly as advertised last night's leftover casserole was perfectly heated by lunchtime. The only knock I have on it so far is that it lacks an on/off switch, and therefore has to be plugged in/unplugged for use, which I can see being relatively inconvenient if you're going to use the crock more than occasionally.Friday, January 31, 2014

I have had this heater for about two years. I am a 62 year old grandmother and take good care of my equipment, so this heater has been well cared for. The cord wrapped around the pedestal this morning, creating a tiny bit of tension at the point where to cord enters the back of the fan. There was a loud pop and then flames shooting out of the back of the fan. Thank goodness I was standing right there or my house could have burned down. I will be reporting this to the company than makes them, but I am getting rid of the other identical heater I have. This is a fire hazard.
So far, I don't see any problem with the item itself, HOWEVER, I thought I was buying, and paid for, a new product. It may be new, but the packaging (original) was definitely previously OPENED and then poorly re-boxed. I was skeptical but took the heater out of the box anyway since the box didn't appear to be damaged.
All the parts were there except the two AAA batteries that are advertised as included. This could be an oversight on the person who re-boxed the heater. The remote worked okay but was just tossed loose in the box and could have been damaged or lost, BTW, the box exterior states two AA batteries included! I tried to install two AA 's before I realized only AAA's would fit (dah).
The assembly is very simple, no tools required. The unit, while operating in the oscillating mode is a little wobbly, sort of top heavy but acceptable. The pedestal telescopes and is extendable somewhat, in the highest position while oscillating it is a little noisy but in the lowest position I didn't notice it.
You can run the unit with or without the timer (8 hr max) and with or without oscillating.
The safety tip-over switch is built in to the unit (a mercury switch I guess) and is NOT a visible on-off switch on the bottom of the stand. I tested it and it works fine from any tipped position.
So far, so good :)
***the noise comes once in awhile now. it's been used at least 12 hours a day for the last 10 days.

I bought my Optimus H-4501 heater last month and am super impressed with it. First of all, for anyone who uses a heater at night in their room, having a low-laying floor model makes no sense. It will just point heat at the side of your bed. Having the elevated "heater on stick" model makes all the sense in the world. Now the heat is aiming at you. I have another pedestal heater of a different brand which made its way to my garage, because although it has a shut-off timer, it has no thermostat, so it's either on low, on high, or off. The Optimus has a thermostat, and a good one, not just a dial, but rather a digital display where you pick the desired temperature digitally and the heater turns off when that temperature is reached and back on when the room gets cold again. I've never seen a pedestal heater that has both a timed shut-off feature and a thermostat until I found this one. Also, it's very QUIET in its operation, even while in oscilating mode. And I like the backlit digital display which is at eye-level from a bed. It's got a nice remote control, but I hardly ever use it sense the screen and controls are at very easy to reach (as opposed to my old heater which had them located on the base of the unit). Last, but not least, like all dish heaters I've tried before, this heater projects substantial heat at you very quickly. I've never had to use the high setting yet. I would recommend this heater to everyone. I really feel it's the best space heater ever!!!Best Deals on Optimus H-4501 14-Inch Oscillitating Pedestal Digital Dish Heater

This little guy was plugged in and went to work immediately, heating our 16x20 living room built on a concrete slab addition. It has a mechanism to prevent overheating, so we tend to leave it on all day and night in the coldest weather...which can be pretty cold here in central Michigan. The ONLY thing we don't like (and it's rather trivial) is that you can't have the heater on without the flame effect. Again, not a big issue, since the flames are pretty realistic looking, when compared to almost all other models. It comes with a remote, although we never use it. It's not too big and has a very nice rustic appearance that goes perfect with our "lodge themed" living room. It also doesn't weight a ton, so it can be moved to wherever it is needed, but is still solid little unit.Best Deals on Dimplex DS2205 Compact Electric Stove, Black
I was amazed on how real it looks. everything came in good working order. I received the item just like Amazon claimed. I am very happy with the product. I would purchase another one. you can actually open the door and touch the fire and the sides are not hot either. therefore, it safe for children and pets. I checked the heater on it and the heat comes from the bottom. the heat comes out hot which is a good sign. I love my new electric fireplace thanks Amazon for having great vendors.Honest reviews on Dimplex DS2205 Compact Electric Stove, Black
I love this stove. It looks good-very realistic-and heats well. I use it in an open living room, dining room, and kitchen area. I turn it on when I sit down to watch television. It will always raise the temperature in that area 2-3 degrees, so you can turn down your main heat source. It is not very heavy, so it can easily be moved from one area to another. There is no setup required; just plug it in. If I had a place to put it, I would buy another!Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Dimplex DS2205 Compact Electric Stove, Black
The cord on this machine actually melted. My step-father has an electrician background and just bought a heavier duty cord and plug in for this machine. The whole cord got too hot and started to melt; he replaced it as soon as he notice the cable failing. This is a fire hazard and anyone purchasing this needs to watch for it.
