We thought we knew what rice was supposed to be like when we used our Costco Aroma Rice Cookers--we would just, as a matter of course, replace the old ones with the same brand... Until this time.

After reading up on consumer reviews and Japanese sites, we opted to try the Zojirushi Induction Heating Rice Cooker. The stainless steel is STUNNING--the pictures do NOT do it justice--it is gorgeous on my countertop--a piece of furniture, like the KitchenAid Mixer. It is easy to set up (clock time, etc) and easy to use. (The directions are very clear.) I tried some Jasmine Rice in it for our first try--and WOW! I was totally amazed! Each piece of rice is perfect in every way. I have never had such results before. Perfect temperature, perfect texture, perfect stickiness, perfect taste. The aroma in the kitchen fills the house and it's wonderful.

There is very little steam (unlike most rice cookers) and it is very easy to clean up. It keeps the rice at that perfect temperature for hours--even longer with the extended warm feature.

I know it's expensive--but in this case, I truly believe you get what you pay for. If you want to know what rice is supposed to be like--you must get one of these! Zojirushi makes a couple of different types of rice cookers--and I have heard that they are all terrific. This one cooks with induction heating, which uses magnets... the unit doesn't get hot...

If you can--get this one!

I purchased this rice cooker about a month or so ago. I cannot say enough good things about this rice cooker. It is absolutely fantastic! Everything I've made (rice and non-rice) has come out wonderfully!

I have a cook/warm rice cooker that I'm going to sell at a yard sale. I will never be able to go back to using that type of machine again. The difference between the Zojirushi and the cook/warm is more than night and day. The difference between the quality in the rice bowls alone is unbelievable. The Zojirushi has a bowl that is very thick and heavy, not unlike my stove top cookware. My old cook/warm rice bowl feels like one of my cheap mixing bowls.

Prior to purchasing the Zojirushi, we never really cared for brown rice. It was too crunchy/chewy. Now my family and I love brown rice. The GABA Brown Rice setting is amazing. I have never made, nor eaten, brown rice that was so light and fluffy before in my life. Because of that, we mostly eat brown rice now which is much healthier for us anyway.

You will not be disappointed with this machine. It's looks beautiful sitting on the counter top. Clean up is a breeze the stainless has some sort of coating and does not show fingerprints or smears!

UPDATE 08/12/2012: Well, after years of using this fabulous rice cooker numerous times a week, I needed to replace it. I ordered another one because my husband and I love the way this makes brown rice, other grains, and steel cut oats. The rubber seal on our original model was worn out. If we weren't around to take the food out right away, it was drying out and wasn't hot enough. I looked at the new pressure cooker model, read the various reviews, and decided to re-order this model. However, I am going to look to see if I can do something to prolong the life of the seal on my new one.

Update: We have owned this rice cooker for about 2 years now and it continues to cook good rice every time. Some Tips:

1. Add 10% more water than is indicated, this will make fluffier rice

2. In order to make Persian-style rice, throw in one tablespoon butter and salt to taste with the water: when used with Basmati rice, this would produce fragrant rice with every grain standing apart.

3. For long-grain rice, use the "Soft" option.

4. Please use it to cook brown rice on GABA setting. Exquisite.

-----------------------------------------

We have had this rice cooker for a week now and have already tried all its settings. It's unbelievable how this cooker makes fluffy, moist rice where each grain stands out without getting sticky. This happens whether you put in Basmati rice, Sushi rice or brown rice. It's astounding how the rice remain fresh, warm and hardly dry out. That was a big change for us, having used no-good Oster rice cookers until we went to a Japanese supermarket and saw how cool and functional this unit looked. We are now eating more (healthier) brown rice and not throwing away any rice the following day. The Japanese sure know how to cook rice.

The menu is simple but offers plenty of choice. The inside bowl is heavy and made of Stainless Steel and has deep and clear marking to help you add the right amount of water without having to use cups. The melodies are a bit of a nuisance, but you wouldn't hear them over your dishwasher, so that's quite all right. The cooker does take twice as long as other, cheap rice cookers, but the ensuing taste is worth the wait.

Without a doubt, the machine is beautiful. If you really want to eat great rice every time and can afford the price, this is your best choice.

Honest reviews on Zojirushi NP-HBC18 10-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer

Yes, this rice cooker is crazy expensive, but worth it. I agree with all the other reviewers that the rice comes out perfect every time, even if you leave it warming for hours. We only eat brown rice, and were disappointed with previous rice cookers that left the rice crunchy, with that disgusting hard crust at the bottom of the pan. With this cooker, every grain is perfect. We also use the "porridge" setting to cook steel cut oats and hot cereal. We do reduce the amount of water the cooker recommends for porridge, to create a thicker end product. This is just a personal preference, however. This cooker is goof proof. The timer is simple to set, and I find the little melody that plays when the cooktime begins and ends to be adorable. Since buying this product, we've been using it several times a week and eating healthier as a result. It's expensive, but take a deep breath and make this investment. You won't be disappointed.

Great machine for cooking rice of all kinds. Very easy to clean, too, even when cooking brown rice with azuki beans. Has a steam capturing devise which prevents too much steam from escaping into your kitchen.

This unit is truly prettier than I thought it would be. It matches my other oak furniture perfectly and the fireplace unit makes for cozy ambiance. It was very easy to put together and I got it together in a couple of hours. I did have help screwing in the small screws in the back since I was getting tired at that point in the evening but it was really very simple. I'd highly recommend this unit.

The unit arrived on time and I was pleased with the compact size and ease of movement with the rollers on the bottom. Simple instructions that get you up and running quickly. I used a standard clothes dryer exhaust vent from the local hardware store that matches perfectly the supplied flex exhaust hose with the unit. Cut a small hole in wall for drain hose (needed for heater) and was set to go. This unit cools extremely well...heat pump avoids the flame or hot wires found in space heaters. Ideal for small room comfort. I have been very pleased in both

hot and cold outside temps with this compact and lightweight unit. A smart buy for anyone who wants quality and simplicity.

I did a lot of research before choosing to get this unit. I was gonna buy another model from the local Abt store and have it delivered, but the salesman was so rude I decided against it. He basically was trying to talk me out of getting one, saying they didn't work as well as a regular window unit. Duh. Truth is, I gave away a new aircon when I moved here because there was a unit in the window. Big mistake. It was a piece of crap -barely worked at all. I vowed to get a portable one for convenience sake.

Then the Abt guy told me that it took hours to assemble the exhaust for the window. That may have been for their units, but I didn't find that at all. In fact, setup for this unit could not have been easier.

I toyed with getting a more powerful aircon but went with this since it was for such a small space. I was right since this space is probably not more than 400 or so sq ft. Because it's been relatively nice out here in Chicago I haven't had the need until a few weeks ago mid June. Then didn't need it until mid July.

I watched a YouTube video to get an idea of how these machines work. All I had to do was twist the exhaust tube onto the machine and then the window piece. No cutting and I didn't even really need to use the screws for the adapter into the window. The adapter just slides in according to size and stays in place on its own. No gaps, either. I savor my windows so I'll be removing it every chance I get because I'd rather have fresh air when I can get it.

I keep the bathroom door ajar and I notice it is stuffy in there, which I don't care about. When I turned it on I could feel the cool air and instantly felt it working. It worked really quickly in cooling the room down and it also carried over to the adjacent room.

I chose this unit for a few other reasons besides great reviews on other sites. One was because it has automatic recycling of water so that even though it is humid, it probably wouldn't need to be drained very much. I was concerned that other units may not work thru the night without needing to be emptied often. This one had so little water draining that I was really surprised. The humidity here generally tops 70% so I was kind of expecting it to shut down and need to be emptied. So far, haven't needed to do that at all. I keep the drain tube on it with a small tray that is parallel on top of a towel behind the unit. I found that when the tube is removed sometimes some water drips out, so the towel catches it.

Today I waited all day long before I finally turned it on in the evening. You're really supposed to do it earlier, but this works fine for me. The room started out at 88 degrees there was no longer a breeze outside and the fan just wasn't cutting it. Less than an hour later, this little hotbox I live in was much cooler. It's a couple of hours later and the thermostat on the unit says 81 degrees. I know that doesn't seem like much, but it feels much cooler in here. I generally like it around 70 or so but for some reason this feels very cool to me.

I'm fairly close to the unit and then I have a mid sized oscillating fan blowing near it so that's probably why. It will be interesting to see just how cool it gets in here. I'll update the review tomorrow. I plan on running it all night since it's supposed to be around 84 by around 10 a.m.

I turned on the heater just to see if it worked when I received it. Haven't used it yet but bet it works just fine. I have gas heat here but figured it would be nice to have something for when I move or need a little heat on an unseasonably cold day before the landlord turns on heat in late Oct or Nov. I like it cooler than most people so doubt I'll use that much in this space. I'm thinking it will come in handy to use in a larger space and just heat the areas I'm in rather than wasting electricity for the entire place.

I'm one of those people who watches the temperature like a hawk because I love fresh air. So if the temp dips after a nice blast of rain or at night, the humidity isn't a killer and I get a gorgeous Lake Michigan breeze (I'm just a block off the lake) it's open window time for me! This unit is a snap to roll across the room behind the chair so that works well. People with limited space will find this unit very easy to manage. It's heavy to lift but I don't plan on doing that much at all.

As long as you don't expect this unit to do more than it was made to, i.e., cool down a place like a window unit would I'm sure anyone would be pleased. As a personal aircon -it really works great. It's not meant to cool off an entire 1 bedroom apt or anything. But it sure works well in a small room. It's a little noisier than I would have liked, but that's no big deal for me and a small price to pay to be cool and comfortable during this heat wave! I hope all of this info helps I like to be as specific as I can in reviews so that people can get a good sense of what they're getting!

**************

UPDATE! Very pleased to report that I've had this unit running now for several days straight we're having a nasty heat wave here in Chicago. The heat has been relentless in the 90s that feels like 100 with the humidity. In fact, there is a heat advisory today. The unit has been recycling the water from the humidity such that I have not seen a drop in the pan. I love that the vent has a directional function so you can send the air where you want it up, down, sides, etc. For instance, when I'm near my desk, I have it blowing toward there. Sofa -that's another direction. And I have a mid-size oscillating fan tower that helps blow the cool air around. I usually like to use that fan alone, but it would do nothing for this heat!

Also I have casement windows which are lovely, but they don't seem to seal up the place like regular windows do so with regular windows this unit may work even better. The thermostat stays from 80-83 but again -feels like 75 in here to me. When the sun is shining brightly I have the shades down and all doors closed. When I don't care to fiddle with the air direction, I sometimes wear a chill its cooling towel like a shawl around bare shoulders. Just fantastic! Between the aircon and the towel, I am as comfortable as could be!

I unpacked it and plugged it in and got an error message that the reservoir was full. I followed the instructions on how to clear the error but nothing worked . Even though it is under warranty the company sent me instructions on how to disassemble the case to find the reservoir sensor switch. no instructions on what to do when I found it or how to determine if it is defective. I'm afraid if I take it apart it will void the warranty so I am searching for a qualified repair person to assess and fix the issue. It will be on my dime I'm sure

I love my duraflame infrared electric heater /fireplace mantel. It's my first so I hope I get a lot of enjoyment out of it. It pumps out the heat! I have it in my livingroom and it keeps it comfortable. I keep it on 72F the default setting and the heater auto shuts itself off when it reaches it's temperature, an when it drops in the room it comes back on.The heater is not loud. It also has an auto timer too which is nice! Also a flame adjuster and remote. When you shut the unit off the fan will keep blowing to cool the components down(for a few minutes). Also the wheels on the mantel are convenient, because you can roll it into any room to "knock the chill off "without turning your heater up in your home. The picture actually didn't do it justice. I was impressed with the mantel nice wood finish, beautiful and I fell in love with the flame, it is very real looking. My parents have a duraflame infrared electric heater stove at their house and I was impressed with the real looking flame and the heat it put out. So I decided to get one. Delivery of my order was fast and arrived in excellent condition and already assembled, so all I did after unpacking it was plug it in!

We live in a 1970s mobile home with 2 additions. Its not very well insulated and to make matters worse, our furnace ducts run under the belly of the home where they are exposed to the cold air. Our propane bill hit $650.00 for just 5 weeks of heat, and we knew we were in trouble. So we bought this electric fireplace for our living/dining/kitchen/hallway and use it along with 3 smaller infrared heating unts (one in each bedroom) and our house stayed comfortably (70 degrees) warm the rest of winter. It felt SOOO good to call the propane company and tell them we didnt need them to come back out for a LONG time. (our water heater is still propane but Im considering changing that) Even better, Our electric bill has stayed under 200 bucks and I am one HAPPY CAMPER!!! Our total investment in all 4 units is less than we paid for one month of propane!!!!! No more wondering how we will ever be able to afford to heat our home.

-It is every bit as beautiful as it looks.

-The "flame" is nice and you can adjust the brightness/amount. Our toddler loves to watch the flame

-We have a toddler and a dog and its not too hot or dangerous for them to play around.

-The remote is tiny enough to hide out of the way but the buttons are big/easy to use.

-And the best part, it doesnt look like a portable heater in my livingroom but thats EXACTLY what it is.

(I actually came back hoping to buy another for our 3 seasons room that we are wanting to convert to a master bedroom. Hopefully it will be back in stock soon!)

I couldn't believe how quick we received our fireplace. it's beautiful, heats the room nice and evenly too. we had a propane fireplace, up near the ceiling it would be hot and the floor would be cold. now it's nice and toasty high and low.. the fire sure looks real too. we really love our fireplace. we have only owned it a few days so not sure how the electric bill will be but i do know the furnace hasn't kicked on all afternoon. so saving on propane for sure. great item.

Honest reviews on Duraflame Infrared Rolling Mantel - 5200 BTU, 1500 Watts, Model#

Being somewhat hesitant to purchase a fake fireplace, I must say this is very nice. The wood quality is better than I expected. The size is perfect, not too large and certainly not too small. The flames are realistic enough, it does set the mood. The infrared heater is excellent for our large patio room. The only thing I would change is the fan noise. It's slightly louder then I would like but not overwhelming. That's why I gave it just 4 stars. Would I purchase this again? Yes I love this new addition to our home.

Just received our Duraflame Infrared Rolling Mantel 5200 BTU, 1500 Watts, Model# 23IF1714-0107 yesterday and couldn't be more pleased. This is our first electric fireplace and I definitely didn't want it to look tacky. It is very beautiful. The wood is rich and the flame is suitable for us. No electric flame is going to look like the real thing, but this is nice and the flame is adjustable. I like the fact that it is on rollers -very portable. Another selling point for me was that it heats up to 1,000 sq ft. Most items this size only went up to 400 sq ft. That was a big issue for this purchase when researching the market: the mantel we needed could not be wider than 36" and that is a difficult quality to find. The area it is in is kind of odd. We bought it for heating a mother-in-law's quarters of our home which, after my mother-in-law recently passed away, is now a den area. The living quarters used a combo heater-A/C unit that is somewhat noisy. We decided that an electric fireplace might be quieter and more economically efficient for the area in the winter months. This product is definitely much more quiet and it is actually much closer to the TV/den area than the old unit. I have already recommended this unit to a friend! The only drawback, which is no big deal, is the smallness of the remote control. I am afraid it will get lost. It would be nice if the cabinet had a storage area on it for when the remote was not in use. I would definitely buy again.

SPT Portable Air Conditioner with Heater, 12,000 BTUs, WA-1220H

I noticed that all portable air conditioner reviews give either 4 or 5 stars or 1 or two stars. The difference seemed to be that the one or two star people did something major that caused the problem, and you could tell what it was, just by reading the complaint. (return a unit that is leaking when you open the carton, stand it up and wait two hours before trytin to turn it on, so that the freon is not flodding the pump (it will break), etc.

I am a chemical engineer, and have worked with both the theory and practical aspects of AC.so let me give you a brief rundown of how to ick te best unit for you, and how to get the best performsnce afterward:

1. Picking a unit: (use the sortable list on to compare different models)

a. There are two main types: 3-in-1 and 4-in-1.

3-in-1 modes are Fan, AC and Dehumidifier. The dehumidifier mode uses the AC to cool the air until the water comes out, then puts the hot ir it sends outside when working as an AC unit back into the room instead of sending it outside.

4-in-1 adds a heater. Cheap designs use an electric heater coil placed in front of the fan. (Ok if you only want a little heat, now and then, or if you want heat when it is colder than 41 degrees outside. (buy this in Maine.)

More expensive 4-in-1 units do not use an electric heater, but act like a "heat pump"that is, they work like good home units popular south of the mason dixon line (wiki it, kids). More about this when we get to my FAQs on mode 4.

Mode 1 FAQ

While buying an AC just for the fan is not smart, don't underestmate the fan only control. Moving air over you can add 5 to 6 degrees to the temprature you feel is comfortable. If it is only 76 or 77 degrees out, try just sing the fan, and pointing it at you. It will usually o the job unless the humidity is extremely high.

Mode 2 FAQ:

AC size is measure in BTU but typically you need 6000 BTU for a room that is 200 sq ft (eg, it is 20x10 or 14x15).

This is if the room is well insulated, the sunlight does not stream in, and the AC is left on so you don't need a quick cool-down. people by an 8000BTU unit and expect it to cool the hot, hunid 350 sq fot bedroom in 1/2 hour. The web site I recommended has tips on correct sizing. One tip I will add is that the exhaust hose is 15 inches fully collapsed. The more you extend it nd make it go around bends, the poorer it will work. Lots of sharp bends and fully extending the hose will "derate" the effective size (and efficnecy) by possibly as much as 20%. When in doubt, buy biggerbut too big a unit will make a gale when the fan is on, and will cycle on and off way to often.

Mode 4. (yeah, its out of order, but this is for a good reaon).

Heat pumps reverse some valves in the AC unit, and suddenly, the pipe going outside gives off cold air, and the indoor part puts out hot air, This is roughly twice as energy efficient as the cheaper heating coil, but stops working around 40 degrees of outdoor temperature.

Mode 3 FAQ: Dehumidification only, and, oh yeah, an AC does dehumidification while it cools-

Actually , the AC dehumidifies too. If the basement is too damp, you can use a portable unit to warm it up a little and dry it out a lot. Then, if it gets too warm, switch to AC and cool it and dry it. For htat matter, just sit a windo unit on a chair, and let it blow back into the room instead of out a window, and use it as a dehumidifier.

In coastal regions, and near rivers and lakes, the air is very humid. Dehumidifiers must cool the air as much as an AC to get rid of the water, (and use as much energy as an AC does), but they dump the hot air back into the room instead of pushing it outside. unless you have a cool damp basement problem, the Dehumidifier only mode is not the answer.

But what happens to the water from the dehumidifier action? An AC may use more energy removing the water than cooling the air. (this is why it tale so long to cool a hot, humid room the first time, but if it is keep closed, so that the next day it is only hot, it will not take nearly as long to cool it down again.) A room sized machine will typically remove 10 gallons (40 pints) or more a day. The water runs to the bottom of the unit. Window units drain the water that collects in the bottom of the unit out the window. A portable AC has to collect it. Typical collection resevoirs hold less than 4 pints, at which time a float switch stops the cooling and leaves only the fan (so you think it doesn't cool after just a few hours use if you just plug it in and let it run.) You can attach a hose and drain continuously (use a hose clamp if you do), or else empty the tiny resivoir each time the AC stops cooling. The trouble with using a hose is that the hose is not very high off the floor, and the resevoir will simply overflow if you don't notice it is full.

Here is my solution. Elevate the machine a few inches by standing it on a set of bed leg height adjusters (>$10 at a hardware store), then, attach the hose, and fashion a hook to hang the end of the free end of the hose up on the machine. I straightened a large paper clip and tied it around the hose near the free end, and bent the end of the paper clip so that it hooked into a convenient spot high enough up on the machine to know the hose would not overflow before the float inside the machine shut off the AC. Since the hose is transparent, I can see how full the resevior is, and, without shutting off the AC, unhook the hose and drain it into a 1 gal plastic jug that sits on the floor and has a hole in the side near the top. Hang the hose back up on its hook, and use the water on your plants or in your iron. (it is actually rain water that you made yourself).

The reason, by the way, they can remove 40 or more pints a day, and only have a resevoir 1/10th the size, is that they blow most of the water they collect onto the condensor coils (the ones that put hot air back outside). This water helps cool the coils and makes the AC run more efficientlyand you don't have to dump it. (They do this to help get back the energy required to remove it from the air that is going into your room.)

About 90% of the water collected will be used this way. This means that if you have no humidity, your energy bill will be about the same, since you don't take it out, and don't put it back. However, if you do live in low humidity, maybe you should be buying a much cheaper evaporative cooler, that cools you by spraying water into the air.

If I can go back to mode 4 (heater, again, It also means that the manufacturer of units with a heat pump mean it when they say that when you use a unit to heat with, set up a continuous drain. Spraying the water on the normally hot (now cold) side will form ice, and freeze up the unit, causing it to fail to operate, and possible damage to the compressor.

For the advanced student, who wants to continuously drain the unit in the summer, Just remember that you are eliminating one of the big energy reducing featurethe re-use of the water to spray cool the hot condensor coils. My hose trick can be modified by putting a tee connector in the hose above the drain outlet of the unit, but below the height that causes the compressor to shut offconnect an overflow hose, and any water that is needed for the cooling of the coils will be available, but the exces will be available to safely drain away. hopefully, you are now hagh enough to draininto a 5 gallon plastic gas can, or something, but you have to know what you will do with all that water. They sell plug in drain pumps that can be used to keep your overflow can emptied out, and that can pump the water through a small plastic tube wherever you want it.

Have a whole house AC and don't need more? read this:

My house is in Floridatypical daytime temp of 94, with 65% or more humidity, and while night time temps go down to 70 by about 3 AM, the humidity goes up. No one lived in Florida by choice until the invention of AC. My reason for buying the portable units was to create a "zone" in my bedroom at night, (set the Hose AC at 80), and also to have small unit that I could put in my TV room in the cold months to use between 7 and 11 in the evening when we like to watch tV (let the whole house cool, and sleep under blankets in the now cool bedroom when we go to bed.)

For this reason, I got a 4-in-1, and because I live below the mason dixon line, I got a heat pump version.

I hope this review prevents you from experiencing any of the reasons why so many people had bad experiences with the same products others found to work well.

I live in Pittsburgh and we do get some heat here in the summer. Small apartment in a 60 year solidly built building. I have been running this machine during the day for over 2 weeks now and I love it. I am not a big fan of really cold air-conditioning and so far this unit does not make my place a freezer, but makes it extremely comfortable considering the shape of my apartment, i am cooling about 630 sq ft with bedroom and bathroom doors closed. So it is a little over its recommended cooling area, but for my needs, it is more than great.

Now, one thing about draining the water out of the unit.....I haven't. Was delivered on July 6th and as I said above, it has been on all day since then. I hardly run it at night as once my place is in my comfort zone, it stays that way all night. I have not had to empty any water and it has been humid here. I am almost frightened to say anything about that in front of it so I don't jinx myself.

I did buy the Square Deal warranty for this for three years so that if it does break down, I am covered. Anyone who does not shell out the money for that at the reduced rate you get from Amazon is being quite foolish with their money. Way cheaper that what you would get at Best Buy or Sears by more than 50%.

In the winter, I plan on rolling it into my bedroom to heat that area. We still have radiator steam heat here and during temperature transitional days, temp goes up then down real fast, the heat does not catch up for about 24 hours. This will make that room much cozier.

I think I would have been happy, if they had said this does not work over 4500 feet, but they didn't.... I purchased it, then found out that you need a "dual regulator", "100 pound propane bottle", etc. then after all that expense and it still wouldn't work, they asked my husband, "What is your altitude?" and found out that if you are over 4500 feet it doesn't work at all!!!! So now I am having to send it back, but they are paying for the shipping, but it took almost two weeks to get it in the first place, so how long before I get my money back?????

This product is easy to setup out of the box, required little assembly and worked as advertised. This is my first experience with a Propane forced air heater (I have other kerosene space heaters) and I was pleased with the lack of smell while running but it doesn't seem as efficient as the kerosene heater of the same BTU output rating. Overall for the price I feel it was a good choice.

This small area propane heater works great and hasn't given me any trouble at all. Tried to use it in a larger setting and it couldn't keep up with the large space, but for a garage or smaller renovation project it would work great.

The item looks very nice on the wall, but the fire doesn't really look real in my opinion. I was expecting a real flame, but this is just lights that make it LOOK like a flame, not actual fire. The only warmth comes from the fan which you can set to two settings. It blows out hot air from the top of the fireplace which makes it impossible to put anything else up on the wall above it. We have our TV up there so we cannot ever turn the heat function on. The fan is also really noisy which ruins that atmosphere. We decided to keep it as we cannot afford much more than this for one with real flames, but would not have purchased if we had more funds!

I received the Warm House electric fireplace as a Christmas present from my daughter. The fireplace stopped working 3 days later. Following the Instruction Manual, I contacted Midwest Trading Group via email for a repair or replacement. Midwest Trading Group gave me a number to call which was their shipping department. ???! The shipping department referred me back to Midwest's Customer Service who sent me to Groupon through which my daughter placed her order. Because of the back and forth, I was too late in contacting them (14 days) so they couldn't help. The original warranty was 30 days; all contact with Midwest Trading Group was made within that time, and during that time no one would accept responsibility for repairing or replacing the fireplace. I am now stuck with a 40 lb. handsome looking, non-functioning piece of metal.

Candle Warmers Etc. Jamie Clair Tea Light Oil Warmer, White

I noticed my other oil burner didn't heat up the water well with fans going in the room. The tea candle was open to the breeze flowing in the room.I bought this one since it can shield the candle from the breeze. It works for that. The water reservoir is sufficient for a four hour tea candle also, even though it looks small.

I was amazed how few aromatherapy oil disperser models that are out there, and then to find one that is stylish and not looking too flowery or gothic. Hey, all you need is one and I found it! Super pricing, stylish and there the 'we'll' at the top is about 2 inches deep and held enough water and oil for a tealight candle. I love the fact I can disperse beautiful and relaxing oil in my home. Time to relax!

This thing is so simple. I have the black one and it's got a generous room for the candle and the oils on top. The only flaw is, it gets really hot so if you want to move it, you'll need a towel to pick it up. I also like the fact that the candle has it's own place and it's not just an open flame with an oil bowl just hanging on it. It's all one nice piece.

Honest reviews on Candle Warmers Etc. Jamie Clair Tea Light Oil Warmer

I used to put my essential oil on top of my space heater, but I thought getting one of these would be a little more elegant. I love it, but it is so much stronger, you only need one drop of oil (diluted in water). I had no problem with several drops on my heater, but the same amount in this makes the aroma overpowering. Use sparingly and you will quite enjoy this little warmer.

I am addicted to fragrance oils and more comfortable to leave these burning as I'm going from room to room (or before bed) compared to candles. I was using a more squat and wide warmer but this seems to do better on the oils lasting. The oil part at the top is quite deep and no worries about spills. I am using three of them in my own home and I also think it would make a nice gift.

This is my 4th GoldenRod heater purchased in the last 15 years. My first was actually 15 years ago, and is working today as the day it was installed. These heaters are proven and perfected. In my opinion, there is no better safe or cabinet heater on the market. Whatever your use, this will be your one and only purchase. These heaters last forever!

I have this in my Snap on Elite gun safe. I have a humidity/temp monitor and this keeps the interior temperature around 84 deg with a humidity around 50%. I live on the gulf coast of Florida and it seems to do well even in our warm humid climate.

Does exactly what it's supposed to and last for many years. I own 3 of them already and am very happy with them.

Honest reviews on GoldenRod 24 inch Dehumidifier 5D-24

Works very well and doesn't overheat. Features a removable plug end that makes it a lot easier to thread through the exterior opening on my safe. Keeps humidity low and my guns nice and dry. I use this and silica gel moisture absorbers and have zero issues with rust or pitting on any of my firearms. Excellent purchase and looking forward to years of service from this unit.

I started out by getting a lower end dehumidifier with lower wattage, thinking that I would save on electricity while protecting the contents of my safe. However, I soon found out that the lower wattage dehumidifier didn't raise the internal temperature much. I opted for this GoldenRod and it surely put my mind more at ease. I can feel the temp difference as I open the safe now without having to verify by reading the thermometer!

Sunbeam SFH8111 Oscillating Heater Fan with Remote Control Review

Sunbeam SFH8111 Oscillating Heater Fan with Remote Control

I bought this heater at Lowes on 10/4/09. I took it home and assembled it according to the instructions and turned it on. The heater kicked off within 30 seconds and the overheat light started blinking. I turned it off and unplugged it for a few minutes and tried again. I never could get the heater to stay on for more than 20 or 30 seconds at a time. The next day I returned it to Lowes, and when I began to tell the lady at Customer Service the problem, she just nodded and said "yeah, I know, we get a lot of these returned for that reason". Instead of getting a refund and buying a different brand (which I should have done), I exchanged it for the same heater. The second heater worked fine, for about 2.5 months and then started having problems again. Tonight I haven't been able to get the heater to stay on and the overheat light keep flashing again. I am going to try to return this to Lowes in the morning, but since Lowes only has a 90 day return policy and it has been about 93 days since I got the second heater I hope they will let me exchange it for a different brand heater. I wouldn't recommend this heater at all after all the problems I have had with it.

I'm sorry to hear that the previous reviewer didn't like it, but I have one that I also bought at Lowes and I think it's great. We have it in our VERY large, 550 square foot family room, and it warms up the place nicely within a 10 minutes. Now, mind you, I have central heat, but that room is always colder than the rest of the house, due to it's size and the number of windows, and I bought it to warm it up more since I have a baby daughter who likes to crawl on the carpet where it's coldest. If you're looking at this to be a replacement (temporary or permanent) for a complete lack of central heating, it's not going to do the job.

It has two heat settings (low and high), a tip-over sensor and it oscillates, which is nice for spreading the heat around the room.

As a supplemental heater or one for the cold nights, it's great. In fact, that's how I ended up at Amazon... Lowes is out of them, and I'm going to buy two more to replace the energy-hog oil heaters that I have in those rooms... I hope this helped!

Best Deals on Sunbeam SFH8111 Oscillating Heater Fan with Remote Control

I bought this at Lowe's, for the same price at amazon to hold me over until my central heating gets turned on. I live in an older house probably 1950's design with cinder-block outer walls, a tile floor in my living room and poor insulation so take that into account with this review. This heater is small about two feet tall and says rated for medium size rooms on the box. When first turned on there was a strong plastic smell but it dissipated after about 10 minutes. I currently have this in my small/medium living room and have to this about 3 feet away from me as the fan blows really low. I feel warmer but only enough to take the edge off, not freezing, but not entirely comfortable. With the built-in fan its as loud as a medium oscillating fan. Overall its ok for the price but don't expect anything spectacular.

Honest reviews on Sunbeam SFH8111 Oscillating Heater Fan with Remote Control

Don't buy this heater. I'm not sure I'd buy another sunbeam product actually. Just like the other reviews, my heater worked for a while and then started shutting off while the light around the temperature adjustment would flash. If you move the unit it may or may not come back on. The temperature display sometimes comes on and sometimes it doesn't. It lasted one short season and after that, its been nothing but a headache. Basically the warranty covers its initial use and it sounds like after that the majority of these die.

I purchased this w/the Primula Teapot. Not only is it elegant among my crystal table settings when I'm entertaining but also just as lovely when I'm enyoying a pot of tea by myself. AND it's functional! I often will enjoy a pot of tea while working in my office and the warmer really does keep a pot of tea perfectly steamed for hours (as long as your tea light holds up, or you finish your pot of tea). I'd recommend this to anyone wanting a tea warmer.

This tea warmer is lovely to look at, and lovely to hold. I am very sensual when it comes to comfort items, especially teas. This little beauty has a wonderfully easy elegant design, and a quality feel to it. The stainless steel plate feels strong, and fits snuggly onto the sturdy glass base. The small raised area keeps the tea light candle nestled in the center of the warmer. The easily removable stainless steel plate makes lighting the candle simple and unintrusive to the tea drinking experience. A+

The Primula Tea Warmer works better than I thought it would. I hope nothing ever hapens to it. After the water boils, I add the flowering tea pod and the warmer does a great job of keeping the tea warm. I have even used it to keep Sake warm. It's a great product that I would recommend. The only problem I had was when the item arrived; the tea candle it came with was completely melted inside so it was unusable and I had to clean out the melted wax because it was stuck to the glass. Had this not happened, it would get 5 stars.

Honest reviews on Primula Tea Warmer 2-Piece Glass and Stainless Steel with Tea Light

I ordered this tea warmer to used with an old Bodum Bistro glass tea pot, which is cylindrical in form and measures 5-1/4" in diameter across the bottom. This tea warmer, according to the amazon.com listing, is supposed to be 4 x 6.8 x 6.5 inches. Since it's obviously wider than it is all, one would assume it's 4" tall, 6.8" in diameter on the outside and 6.5" in diameter as to the recess in the stainless steel top, so my Bodum teapot should have fit just fine. But those dimensions are just plain wrong. The tea warmer arrived and it's actually only 5" in diameter, so my teapot doesn't fit into the recess in the top of the warmer -it's slightly too large. My teapot doesn't fit securely and isn't safe to use with this warmer. So I'm not criticizing the heating performance of the warmer or its construction. My complaint is that amazon.com gives the wrong dimensions in its listing of the product. For most teapots, it probably will work because the base of most teapots is smaller than 5" in diameter. But it won't work for mine, so I'm going to have to return it, which is annoying.

This tea warmer is very nice looking but the metal plate didn't fit properly. Because of this the teapot couldn't sit straight on top of the warmer. When I tried adjusting the plate, the glass warmer shattered in my hands. Not happy.
