Good product and great price but it doesn't have a timer so you have to check your time and the digital pannel shows farenheit and no celsius degrees and on the button it has a little °C so you think is in celsius... is not.... So to conclude you can work with this perfectly if you have that in mind....

Works exactly as described, but I'm using it for a coffee urn, so it wasn't exactly suited for the purpose. There's a big red label on the piece that sits inside the urn/chafing dish, and over a few uses, it started to disintegrate. I eventually had to remove it using nail polish remover, which took an hour, because it was never meant to be removed. It would have been better had the warning label been designed to be removed.

The unit arrived on time and I was pleased with the compact size and ease of movement with the rollers on the bottom. Simple instructions that get you up and running quickly. I used a standard clothes dryer exhaust vent from the local hardware store that matches perfectly the supplied flex exhaust hose with the unit. Cut a small hole in wall for drain hose (needed for heater) and was set to go. This unit cools extremely well...heat pump avoids the flame or hot wires found in space heaters. Ideal for small room comfort. I have been very pleased in both

hot and cold outside temps with this compact and lightweight unit. A smart buy for anyone who wants quality and simplicity.

I did a lot of research before choosing to get this unit. I was gonna buy another model from the local Abt store and have it delivered, but the salesman was so rude I decided against it. He basically was trying to talk me out of getting one, saying they didn't work as well as a regular window unit. Duh. Truth is, I gave away a new aircon when I moved here because there was a unit in the window. Big mistake. It was a piece of crap -barely worked at all. I vowed to get a portable one for convenience sake.

Then the Abt guy told me that it took hours to assemble the exhaust for the window. That may have been for their units, but I didn't find that at all. In fact, setup for this unit could not have been easier.

I toyed with getting a more powerful aircon but went with this since it was for such a small space. I was right since this space is probably not more than 400 or so sq ft. Because it's been relatively nice out here in Chicago I haven't had the need until a few weeks ago mid June. Then didn't need it until mid July.

I watched a YouTube video to get an idea of how these machines work. All I had to do was twist the exhaust tube onto the machine and then the window piece. No cutting and I didn't even really need to use the screws for the adapter into the window. The adapter just slides in according to size and stays in place on its own. No gaps, either. I savor my windows so I'll be removing it every chance I get because I'd rather have fresh air when I can get it.

I keep the bathroom door ajar and I notice it is stuffy in there, which I don't care about. When I turned it on I could feel the cool air and instantly felt it working. It worked really quickly in cooling the room down and it also carried over to the adjacent room.

I chose this unit for a few other reasons besides great reviews on other sites. One was because it has automatic recycling of water so that even though it is humid, it probably wouldn't need to be drained very much. I was concerned that other units may not work thru the night without needing to be emptied often. This one had so little water draining that I was really surprised. The humidity here generally tops 70% so I was kind of expecting it to shut down and need to be emptied. So far, haven't needed to do that at all. I keep the drain tube on it with a small tray that is parallel on top of a towel behind the unit. I found that when the tube is removed sometimes some water drips out, so the towel catches it.

Today I waited all day long before I finally turned it on in the evening. You're really supposed to do it earlier, but this works fine for me. The room started out at 88 degrees there was no longer a breeze outside and the fan just wasn't cutting it. Less than an hour later, this little hotbox I live in was much cooler. It's a couple of hours later and the thermostat on the unit says 81 degrees. I know that doesn't seem like much, but it feels much cooler in here. I generally like it around 70 or so but for some reason this feels very cool to me.

I'm fairly close to the unit and then I have a mid sized oscillating fan blowing near it so that's probably why. It will be interesting to see just how cool it gets in here. I'll update the review tomorrow. I plan on running it all night since it's supposed to be around 84 by around 10 a.m.

I turned on the heater just to see if it worked when I received it. Haven't used it yet but bet it works just fine. I have gas heat here but figured it would be nice to have something for when I move or need a little heat on an unseasonably cold day before the landlord turns on heat in late Oct or Nov. I like it cooler than most people so doubt I'll use that much in this space. I'm thinking it will come in handy to use in a larger space and just heat the areas I'm in rather than wasting electricity for the entire place.

I'm one of those people who watches the temperature like a hawk because I love fresh air. So if the temp dips after a nice blast of rain or at night, the humidity isn't a killer and I get a gorgeous Lake Michigan breeze (I'm just a block off the lake) it's open window time for me! This unit is a snap to roll across the room behind the chair so that works well. People with limited space will find this unit very easy to manage. It's heavy to lift but I don't plan on doing that much at all.

As long as you don't expect this unit to do more than it was made to, i.e., cool down a place like a window unit would I'm sure anyone would be pleased. As a personal aircon -it really works great. It's not meant to cool off an entire 1 bedroom apt or anything. But it sure works well in a small room. It's a little noisier than I would have liked, but that's no big deal for me and a small price to pay to be cool and comfortable during this heat wave! I hope all of this info helps I like to be as specific as I can in reviews so that people can get a good sense of what they're getting!

**************

UPDATE! Very pleased to report that I've had this unit running now for several days straight we're having a nasty heat wave here in Chicago. The heat has been relentless in the 90s that feels like 100 with the humidity. In fact, there is a heat advisory today. The unit has been recycling the water from the humidity such that I have not seen a drop in the pan. I love that the vent has a directional function so you can send the air where you want it up, down, sides, etc. For instance, when I'm near my desk, I have it blowing toward there. Sofa -that's another direction. And I have a mid-size oscillating fan tower that helps blow the cool air around. I usually like to use that fan alone, but it would do nothing for this heat!

Also I have casement windows which are lovely, but they don't seem to seal up the place like regular windows do so with regular windows this unit may work even better. The thermostat stays from 80-83 but again -feels like 75 in here to me. When the sun is shining brightly I have the shades down and all doors closed. When I don't care to fiddle with the air direction, I sometimes wear a chill its cooling towel like a shawl around bare shoulders. Just fantastic! Between the aircon and the towel, I am as comfortable as could be!

I unpacked it and plugged it in and got an error message that the reservoir was full. I followed the instructions on how to clear the error but nothing worked . Even though it is under warranty the company sent me instructions on how to disassemble the case to find the reservoir sensor switch. no instructions on what to do when I found it or how to determine if it is defective. I'm afraid if I take it apart it will void the warranty so I am searching for a qualified repair person to assess and fix the issue. It will be on my dime I'm sure

This is a great machine, I have recommended it to everyone I know.

Here are some facts so you can see if it's right for you:

1) It cools the air. Enough so that if you point it at yourself you will get goosebumps. You can also use it as fan. It moves more air than a typical household fan.

2) It is only meant to cool 250 square feet which means it works wonders in our bedroom but in our living room it can cool down our sofa area but not the whole room.

3) It's louder than a fan but it's quieter than an idling truck.

4) Ridiculously easy to use, fill, and clean.

5) When you turn on the cooling element it will make a slight crinkling sound as water is sucked into the filter. That's normal. It also will decrease the fan speed if you have it on 3 (high) for a few minutes to get the cooling going and then will turn back to 3 (high) once it's cooled. Don't fiddle with it.

6) It has a timer that you can set in 30 minute intervals. The timer counts down in 30 minute intervals as well, which is a slight flaw in my opinion.

7) It doesn't oscillate. I'm not sure if any swamp coolers oscillate but it would have been so great if it did because it's too cold to have pointed directly at the bed continuously.

8) Lastly it works great in Colorado because of the arid environment (We're also somewhat high in elevation). It won't work as well in semi-arid or Mediterranean environments such as California (West of the Sierras).

I noticed all the bad reviews on evaporative coolers but having lived in a dry climate most of my life (Colorado), I can tell you this is a high quality EC and any decent EC will work fine if you follow a couple of rules. Please understand these are coming from people in non-humid climates or people who are in dry climates and don't understand how these work differently than ACs.

TIP 1: Leave two windows cracked open for cross ventilation This would be stupid if we were talking about AC's but if a EC is left running in a closed up house or room, it will make the room humid and not cool it down. You want to have dry (outdoor) air come in through the EC so it cools down the air and blows it through the room. When it cools the air down, it makes a little more humid than it was before so you also want a cross draft so the warm air and any humidity has a place to escape. I put my EC about a foot in front of a cracked window so it gets a fresh supply of dry air and I leave another window cracked open on the other side of the room so warm and humid air will escape. If it gets very hot outside I sometimes close the cracked windows until it gets a little too humid for my liking then open them again this method works well for me but your milage may vary.

TIP 2: Use ice water in the water reservoir Putting ice and or cooling packs in the reservoir along with water will help keep the water cold which in turn make the EC work more efficiently.

TIP 3: Clean your EC out occasionally ECs will accumulate dust and dirt from the air so it if the air it's blowing out smells dusty or is causing allergies it probably just needs a good rinse. Fortunately this unit is very easy to clean.

LIMITATION 1: Won't work if it's humid. Get an AC if you live in a humid climate.

LIMITATION 2: Won't cool down 105ºF air down to 65ºF No EC will do this or at least not in a reasonable amount of time. If you follow my tips though, you can get 105 degrees down to 78.

ECs are cheaper, more efficient and better for the environment than AC's but definitely have their limitations. If evaporative coolers are right for you, this a is a good buy.

*****NOTE: If you live in a humid climate, this will not work. It's not made for that. Evaporative coolers are useful for high altitude and/or dry climates only.*****

I live in New Mexico and this year it's unbearably hot out there. I live in a town house that already has a swamp cooler, but management seems to think that this tiny cooler blowing through one vent on the second floor is enough to cool the entire house. WRONG! The air isn't even cool anymore by the time it reaches the first floor. It's awful. A cooler that size can only do so much when it's over 100 degrees. So I decided to shop for a portable one for downstairs and found this one. It sounded like a great deal for the price. I got it in and it is WONDERFUL!!! It's almost too cold in here, I'm in love!! It was easy to set up. Just fill and plug it in and you're good to go. I LOVE that it has a remote and that it's small and aesthetically pleasing. It's also very quiet and gets cool right away. I like the wheels on the bottom too, it's great that I can roll it to the kitchen for when I'm cooking. I didn't cook a thing for the first part of the summer because the stove just makes it impossible in this heat. The ice packs are REALLY helpful for the crazy hot days too, great idea!! I highly recommend this cooler, especially to all of you New Mexicans out there. It's MORE than worth it, I'm VERY happy with it!!!!!!

Honest reviews on Luma Comfort EC110S Portable Evaporative Cooler

My husband and I were looking for something that would work in our climate (pretty dry with very little humidity) when we thought we'd give this a shot. It's great!!! It's super quiet which is important to us since our dog freaks out at most loud noises. It's also much better looking then the ones we've seen in the stores. It cools our living room down perfectly and uses a ton less energy than an AC unit.

I highly recommend this product if you're looking for something that isn't an eye sore and powerful at the same time!

I seldom need any cooling up here in the mountains but it has been getting warmer in June and before the rains begin in July than was normal in the past. So with the forecast for the weekend over 90 I decided to order this. I wanted something light and better at cooling than a fan. The humidity is always low here usually around 10%. So this seemed ideal. It arrived sooner than promised so was in time for the predicted hot weather. I'm on Prime so no shipping costs. Unpacking the box was easy. A local store carries this model but for $20 more and they were out of stock and "would order it for me" but I would have to pick it up at the store and carry it home in my little car. LOL I LOVE AMAZON!!! Delivery right to the door.

The only assembly was putting the included battery into the remote control. I put the ice packs into my freezer but as it turned out I didn't need them at least not yet.

Washing the water tank (recommended for first use) was easy and replacing it when full was no problem. I set it up in the kitchen because of the hard flooring there just in case of leaks but no leaks. The controls are easy to use without the instruction booklet but the instructions are also easy to read and follow.

The area to be cooled is above the upper limit of 250 square feet and it has a cathedral ceiling as well but the cooling effect was almost immediate. My desk is at the far side of the room and I am quite comfortable now. The noise is a very light white noise kind of sound no clanking. Quieter than most fans.

AS of now I am sitting by a west facing window in the afternoon 90degrees outside and very comfortable inside. As a plus, the extra humidity feels wonderful without being gooey like usual humidifiers. I was particularly concerned about too much moisture because of all my books but this is not a problem.

The unit also looks good with my modern furniture and seems well designed. It has wheels that are a little difficult on carpeting but it also has handles molded into the sides so even short little me can lift it without trouble. I will update this review as the expected heat wave is in progress. But right now I am so glad I ordered it.

Works as advertised. Great for travel. However, you need to be careful that you do not remove it from the cup before you disconnect it. There is an internal fuze that turns the heater off if it gets too hot. Once that happens its shot.

I liked this product but nowhere on my box did it say that if you ever let it boil dry or get too hot, it would be PERMANENTLY disabled! Believe me, I looked when mine stopped working suddenly. I only found out what had happened when I went to buy a replacement. Works great but $15 plus shipping is a little steep for a product you can destroy so easily. How hot is too hot? Just a big caveat.

Best Deals on Travel Immersion Water Heater - Dual Voltage

Bought 2 one these, one for a friend. Mine died after 4 uses and hers after 2. Thoroughtly disgusted with this product and would not recommend it to anyone.

Honest reviews on Travel Immersion Water Heater - Dual Voltage

Cheaply made, designed with a self-destruct fuse that permanently kills the unit the first time it senses the unit is hot. Might fail your first use, might last up to a dozen uses, but it's designed to fail pretty quickly. I've bought at least three dozen of these various places during my years of constant travel, and they all fail, no matter how religiously you obey the instructions, don't blame yourself because THEY ARE DESIGNED TO FAIL.

I just think of them now as disposables. If one lasts two uses, I've broken even vs. the price of a cup of coffee. If it works the third time, I'm ahead in savings and convenience; if it lasts a fourth use, I've doubled the price I paid in savings over room service/Starbucks.

Like other reviewers I'd gladly pay much more for a reliable product that does its simple job without self-destructing, but quality US immersion heaters are no longer made. Another industry sold off to China.

One alternative if you're going to Europe/UK: buy a heater locally, you may find better quality, not all there are made in China...yet.

A bulkier less convenient option is to buy a $15-20 variable-dial electric travel 'hot pot'--they too are cheaply made in China, and you're boiling in plastic, but they last much longer than these coils, and with many models you can make soup, boil eggs, etc. See reviews there.

Tim Jones went above and beyond the call of duty getting the product out to us! We are EXTREMELY happy with what we received and would recommend them to others. Dollar for dollar I couldn't find a better deal when you combine the O2 packs and the bags!

This is my first go around at storing food this way so I have nothing to compare it to. For some reason I can see storing food this way as a little addicting. I'm already planning more projects.

I like the ease of the heater and it works very well. I thought I would "over heat" the seal but thats not the case. The heater itself is self explanitory as are the bags. Some folks use a clothing iron but this is more convenient and does a better job.

The oxy absorbers are packed 20 in a pouch. No issues there but as soon as you open them you have to work quickly. It's better to have 20 bags ready to go so you can pop the the little guys in there then seal them up. When it's done correctly, those absorbers are great.

All in all I'm happy with it. I can see the heater lasting for quite some time as long as I don't go cowboy crazy with it. It's a decent built quality all around but it's up to the user to take care of it. The bags are hefty but when sealed properly, then can be damaged easily. For example: I stored some pasta and one rouge piece was a little sharp. When stored in a 5 gallon bucket, that one piece damaged three other bags.

I will buy more bags but not another heater just because I won't have to.

we just recieved this kit and put it straight to use. We are very pleased with it . very easy to use.

Honest reviews on Long Term / Emergency Food Storage Supply Kit (1 Gallon Size)

I love this product. The only thing that I would suggest to a buyer is to also have a vacuum sealer. I suggest this because the oxygen absorbers that are not immediately being used need to be revacuumed sealed or they will be useless. Have the vacuum sealer and a bag out and ready to use for the ones that you are not using right then.

I purchased this as an alternative to central heating, and found that this ceramic heater offered good performance for the price I paid.

Standing around 30" high, the Lasko 5365 saves a lot on floor space since it takes up more vertical space than horizontal space. Also because of this design, it can heat up more of the room at the same time.

One other thing I liked about this heater was the safety switch: as soon as you tip it over, the heater will shut itself off. If you immediately pull it back up, the heater turns back on. If it stays down or down at an angle, the heater will completely shut down. For a household with kids, this could be what saves the home from going up in flames.

The heater itself is quiet, and even though it does beep (when you turn it on, or switch modes etc.) the beep isn't obtrusive. I have another space heater which is very loud, so maybe I am making an unfair comparison.

The heater also has some other great features such as oscillation (it can turn about 180 degrees back and forth), high/low mode change (high mode for higher bursts of heat, while low mode is both quieter and emits less heat from the grille), and a timer function for those who like to set-and-forget.

Aesthetically, the Lasko 5365 also offers a modern look, which together with the blue backlit LCD display, resembles other modern appliances (DVD/stereo players, Windows Media Center PCs, etc.) in the household. Since many of my peripherals are either black or silver, this heater fits right into the decor.

One other interesting facet of this heater is that it can be remote-controlled (the included small remote has large rubber buttons and large printing, good for those with bad eyesight; uses two AAA batteries which are included). Unfortunately there is no place to hang the remote on the heater itself (unlike other heaters), but its a small caveat.

Overall the Lasko 5365 offers many of the great features found on other heaters, but at a nominal price. Considering having to pay for the high price of natural price each month, the Lasko 5365 is a very good cost-effective alternative.

I just recently moved to San Francisco, in the winter time. In order to save from a high heating bill, i searched high and low for a cheap alternative. THis brand is it. I was using a solarus sun heater...and it got too hot! This model oscillates is at a great height, and has a remote control and timer. It's everything you need to keep you warm at night.

Best Deals on Lasko Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control

I've been using this heater for almost a month now, and so far, it does a good job of keeping an average sized bedroom warm. I do, however, have a few cons when using this heater during the night.

Pros:

1. It has a remote control

2. It oscillates

3. The low setting is nice and quiet

4. It has a timer, so the unit will turn off after a certain number of hours (1-8 hours)

5. It has a thermostat setting, so it will try to keep the temperature you set it at by turning itself on if the current room temperature is 1 degree below the temp you want the room at, or turn off if the room is 3 degrees above the temp you want.

6. It has a good height. It's not one of those heaters that direct the heat to your feet first.

Cons:

1. Pressing any of the buttons gives out a pretty loud beep (or two, or three). If someone else is sleeping in the same room, he/she will most likely wake up from this sound, especially if they're a light sleeper.

2. Speaking of light sleeper (which I, personally, am), the high setting of this unit is a little loud to sleep through, but I'm able to sleep through the low setting.

3. Again, for those light sleepers, the thermostat setting (mentioned in Pro #5 above) has its drawback during the night. Because the unit is trying to figure out if it the room is colder than the temperature set by the user, it will turn itself on and off (sounds like a High setting, so it'll be fairly loud) for this temperature check which lasts maybe 2 seconds. BUT, unfortunately, it keeps going through this temperature check about every 2 minutes or so. Not good for the light sleeper. ;)

4. The blue LCD remains lit, so in a dark room, the LCD might be too bright for those used to sleeping completely in the dark. Just cover it up with a post-it note or something if it bothers you.

I would probably give this unit 4 stars if the beeping sound wasn't so piercing loud and if I wasn't such a light sleeper.

Honest reviews on Lasko Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote Control

I recently bought the Lasko 6350, which I guess is the newer model of this type. It looks very similar except the display on top. I got mine for 49 bucks at target.

Pros

I must say this unit works very well and heats up my room fairly quickly. They replaced the blue display with a just a digital number readout in green against a black background. It can been seen in the dark as the numbers are quiet big and its not bright that it would keep you up (as in the previous post of the old model).

Cons

1. Loud in High/Auto mode. In the high mode, it is louder than my laptop. However, the low mode is very quiet and I hear more of my laptop fan than I do of the heater.

2. Low mode isnt temp adjustable, ie, it just kinda maintains a steady temperature. (72 degress on the display)

3. The temp indicator is off. It indicates a room temp of 74 when my home thermostat is showing 80. What this means is just that the temperature displayed is probably just 6 degrees lower than it probably is at. What this then means is that on low setting 72 is actually 78ish so its not so bad

What I end up doing is just turing the heater on high when I get home and then turn it to low once it hits my set temp. I is pretty good at keeping a steady heat. Even though the heater is kinda loud on high, I have yet to find a heater thats not that loud. My gf has a different heater by DeLongi and its just as loud. Hense, I dont thinks its so much a brand specific problem as it is a general product problem. IE, in order to disipate heat, you need a fan and fans are loud when blowing hard. Its unavoidable to move that much air without a fast and loud fan. If there was such a thing as a low noise fan, planes would be a lot quieter.

All in all, I gave it 4 stars just because the temp display is accurate but not precise (ie displays the a "consistantly" 6 degrees too low) which is an easy fix.

P.S. Please note, I dont know if my home heating unit is accurate either. Ive more than once thought it was off so it might be my home temp control displaying an incorrect temp

I just recently purchased this heater to help heat whichever room I'm occupying as I have a poorly insulated apartment. This heater definitely does wonders. It heats up a pretty good sized room fairly quickly, and keeps it warm. It's even good in drafts (although the instructions say that you should get rid of the drafts). I can put it by the door or the window and it will push warm air towards me, rather than cold.

I very much appreciate it.

My kerosene heater started smoking lately and taking about 20 minutes to get to normal operating temperature, so I ordered this new wick. It arrived in a less than a week and installation was quick and easy. Good time to clean up the windows in the heater while it's apart. Make sure the three nubs on the new wick fit into the three slots correctly before you put it all back together, the wick should go up and down as you turn the knob on the heater from low to high. Once this is done put the heater back together, put in some fuel and test it out. My new wick now lights instantly and doesn't smoke anymore. It also puts out more heat than before because the old wick had shrunk and was charred around the outside edge. If your heater is smoking and takes a while to get up to temperature, buy one of these wicks.

Every year I make several purchases of these wicks and they all work wonderful. I have the best luck with the kero-world wicks. The only problem I had was a 28032 was placed in a 28033 bag most likely in the factory, and amazon made it right. Other than that no problem.
