This product is basically 100% pressed wood with a paper simulated wood grain finish over it. Be ready to screww your azz off, because nowhere in the ad on amazon did it say anything about assembly required. This is "furniture in a box" many parts and many, many screws and fastener blocks. I was expecting this item to arrive ready to plug into the wall, NOPE!. 3 boxes and alot of parts. If not for my son who is a carpenter by trade offering to assemble this product for me, it would have been right back on the truck returning to the seller. if you decide to order this product or anything similar, I would recommend having a power screw driver available to make it easier and speed up assembly time. Also the assembly instructions could stand to be revised a bit.

The item shipped quickly and was delivered by UPS. For us the stoveboard is the perfect size for our rectangular kerosene heater. It does a good job protecting the floor near the kerosene heater from residual heat. The metal top of the board is very attractive and exceeded our expectations. My only quibble is that the edges of the metal folded under on the bottom of the board could be smoother. I don't think the edges will scratch our hardwood floor, but I may tape around the edges just to be safe.

Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

Added note: I notice that the kerosene heater slides somewhat on this smooth stoveboard. I'll have to get a roll of that sticky mesh product used on kitchen shelves and in drawers to prevent the heater from moving.

I love this little electric fireplace heater. The fan makes it even better than the oil filled radiator type in many cases because the heat gets distributed so much better. Looks great. The only negative is the bulb for the 'fire' seemed way too hot so I took it out and replaced it with a smaller wattage (maybe 7 watts) so the back wouldn't get so hot. You can't even tell and my 'flames' flicker very nicely still.

I highly recommend this little unit for smaller areas. You'll love it!

I bought this item from New Life Electronics Surplus3, and it was NOT the same item pictured. I deleted my seller feedback because I also had refund issues which were resolved, but I still feel that anybody looking to buy this should know that this particular seller may not send you the item as advertised. The product I received was a completely different model so it did not have faux marble on the front, the dimensions were not accurate, there were no instructions included in the packaging, the remote was damaged, and this thing ran our energy bill up at least 50%. I was promised a new remote, which I did not receive. I was also promised a partial refund initially by the seller, which I never received, and then Amazon issued a full refund but it took quite a while to appear on my credit card bill. The seller, upon receiving negative feedback, began to call my phone several times a day without leaving a message and they also e-mailed me several times complaining that my negative feedback was hurting their business and that my problem was actually with Amazon, not with them. My refund issue has been resolved, but please be aware of these other issues before ordering this item from that seller.

We only use this with socks on or bare feet. There's no way it would keep your feet warm with shoes or heels on (as advertised).

This heater is super strong and powerful. It's amazing how quickly it heats up my ENTIRE apartment. I've had 2 other small heaters and when I got this one I was seriously impressed with the quality. It's way stronger and warmer than any other heater I've had. I used it for about 3 winters and it was still going strong until my puppy chewed through the cord. Now I'm on the lookout for another one. I haven't been able to find this heater in stores so I'm going to have to purchase it online. I won't settle for any other heater because I know this one is the best. It's the best heater for this price. You won't be disappointed!

Sunbeam SCH4062 Ceramic Space Heater for Small Room This is a very good little heater! We are using two of them to heat rather large rooms, thus reducing our reliance on the central heating system in our house. Bought this for my crews to use on smaller pvc conduits. This thing heats up so quick we threw the blanket heaters away. It has built in rollers but you don't have to roll it too long. Greenlee is definitely the electricians choice with all the tools they make and this is no exception.

Great idea! I use a butane cooker to fry fish but it is hard to light without placing the match and my hand too close to the burner risking a burn! I purchased this little guy from a store a year ago. I loved it then, and it's still going strong now! The thermostat feature is perfect, because I change my mind on the settings constantly, and would otherwise melt/freeze before snapping out of my work to turn it on/off. Especially at night when I'm sleeping.

My two cats love it, too! It's been safe and fairly quiet, while providing a wonderful amount of heat for my living and bed rooms. I am now shopping for a second one to heat up more spaces more quickly.

I've had mine for 3 years and love it! In that time, my husband has had 3 in his bathroom... the last one just stopped working (a Holmes Bathroom Heater). I told him NOT to go out & buy another & I'd try to order him my Sunbeam 1 Touch. So happy that Amazon carries it!!! I recommend that you buy the Sunbeam 1 Touch Heater if you want a great performing heater that will last and last! But I don't understand WHY it's over $50 at Amazon and Under $30 at Walmart. Went to Walmart's website & got it there instead.

Got this oil heater from Target a month ago. I was dubious about these types of heater because of the smell. I placed it in the patio for 3 hours and brought it into the garage for another 2. The next day the garage still had some smell. Took it inside to the family room and the smell was all gone! I used the 1500W setting to burn of the smell but tripped the line plug switch. I only use the 600W & 900W setting for cost reasons.

I purchased this Holmes oil-filled radiator at our local store. I've owned several different brands of oil-filled heaters over the years. My first one was a Lakewood and it was an excellent heater. They don't seem to be available anymore. My second was a Honeywell with digital controls, likewise an excellent heater while it lasted. I also tried and returned two different DeLonghi heaters. Both DeLonghi heaters continued to put out irritating fumes even after the break in period. Alas, that was also the fate of this Holmes heater.

I unboxed the Holmes and set it outside, plugged it into the outdoor outlet and let it run on high for more than an hour. When I brought it inside it was still putting out fumes, but they didn't seem too noxious just a low level odor of warm plastic. My mistake. By bedtime, I didn't feel so good. The next morning I awoke with a headache. When I left the house my headache went away. When I came back, so did the headache. I turned the heater down to the 900 watt setting so I couldn't detect any more odor; however, the next day my headache was much worse and I was feeling nauseated. The Holmes was packed up and returned immediately!

I'm sticking with the Honeywell HZ-709, also available at Target. I brought one home and cranked it up the same day I returned the Holmes. It's running right now and I'm perfectly comfortable. I swear it puts out more heat. Best of all no fumes! It costs more, but it's worth the price. Apparently Kaz (the manufacturer) cares enough to use better quality materials which can withstand the heat without continually outgassing toxic fumes into the air you breathe. Best Deals on Holmes HOH3000 Oil Filled Heater

I bought this item from Target on special offer as I thought this would be a useful background heater to boost the room temperature. It was easy to set up, simply clipping the wheels onto the bottom of the unit using the clamps which are tightened by hand.

The radiator has a variable thermostat to control the temperature and two separate power settings which can be combined to make a third. Settings are 600W, 900W or 1500W (both heater units on).

The surface of this radiator does get very hot, which is what it's designed to do, so I am not sure about the meaning of the phrase in the description that it has "specially engineered thermal fins to maximize heat flow, yet have a low surface temperature".

The radiator is easy to move on the wheels BUT I take away one star as it would be useful to have insulated handles on both sides of the radiator so that it can be lifted when hot, and not just one side for wheeling.

This shortcoming was noticeable when I had to move the hot radiator downstairs and so had to carry it with one hand on the insulated handle and the other on the opposite wheels. The unit is not particularly heavy so this was not a big problem, just an inconvenient design.

Other reviewers remarked that the radiator smelled bad, but we have not noticed this at all.

Overall I would recommend this product.

I don't like any of the heaters that have coils in them that glows red, just something about naked heat that scares me, therefore I decided to get one of these old fashioned oil filled heaters. I say old fashioned because these are the type of heaters that I see in old houses or pictures of the old days.

I too don't like the smell of burning radiators so before I plugged it in, I checked all around to see every like piece of packing plastic was removed and when I turned it on I did not get any burning plastic smell. There was some new smell of hot metal, but after a short time it went away.

Heatwise, I'm very pleased with this. I'm using it to heat a small room that doesn't have double paned glass and with this heater I don't even need to turn it on high. I just use the 900W button and turn the dial about 1/2 way and I'm fine. The heater does get pretty hot so I'm careful not to touch any metal parts. The best part about these oil filled heaters with a fan or any moving parts is that it's quiet.

Overall, I'm very pleased with this heater.

Sorry to say this heater was not a winner. It did arrive on time and in perfect condition. However upon first use and every subsequent use there after it was very loud and had a horrible rattling sound like it was going to come apart violently. It also produced very little heat, having another heater similar to this one that works wonderfully, I am aware of what a heater like this should put out for heat. I would not suggest this heater to anyone, in fact i would suggest the Fahrenheat Ceiling-Mount 5000 Watt Electric Heater, Model# FUH5-4. I have had the Fahrenheat unit for over six month's now and it perform's as advertised without a single failure.

Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program This thing is well built. Note that it requires a 240 outlet before you order. But it puts out the heat let me tell you. My son came over and mounted it up about 2/3 of the way up the wall opposite the garage door in a corner about 3 feet forward from the wall and plugged it in. (he did put a support bracket up for the top and bottom of the unit) We fired it up and tho it makes noise there was no rattle and the level's nothing you can't live with and I soon was used to it. It's a bit early for heating here in the mountains of Colorado but we did have a morning low of 39 and this was around 6:30 in the morning before he went to work. Took about ten minutes to heat up the Garage from about 45 to 65 degrees and then we turned it off because it was going to go back up in the 80's later in the day and it wouldn't be needed. So right now I'm pleased with it and this winter when we dip down below freezing I'll give it it's real test and if there are problems I'll come back and redo this review. Right now I can report it's solid, well built, the controls are convenient and the thermostat worked pretty darn good cycling it off when it reached 65. I would certainly recommend this unit at this price point...just remember you need that 240 outlet handy to use it.

Here is my situation:

I love in northern MN. It gets COLD. I have a 30x60 uninsulated garage/pole barn with 15+ ceilings and a cement floor. I made a "bubble" work area 400 sq.ft (20x20x9) using 4mil plastic within the garage. The heater arrived quickly and in good shape. I already had a 50amp circuit but downsized that to a 30amp and attached the correct female receptacle to fit the unit. Very simply.

I have been impressed with this little heater. I do not find it to be too loud, considering it is made for a garage setting. Some days the temps were in the negatives with windchills in the -20's and in my "bubble" the temp was at least 30 deg. I have recently put studs and insulation between joists at 9ft for the ceiling. This has really helped. The outside temps are in the 20's but "bubble" is in the 50-60 range.

I have not used any other garage heater so I have nothing to compare too. I do not run this thing all day/night. For the most part, I run it a few hours before I plan to "work" in the "bubble" and the temps has risen to a workable level for me (35 deg +). Remember, my "bubble" is simply within my garage, no insulation (except ceiling) and is definitely not air tight.

I have only had this for about 2 weeks but I have been satisfied for my application. I will update this post in the future as I use it more, insulate the room, and receive an electric bill.

I would recommend this product, but I would probably recommend the similar RED heater for $30 less. I read the product info wrong on the RED one and purchased this unit instead. Either way, it is doing what I need.

UPDATE: (3/25/13)

I have had this unit a little over a month. I have taken down the "bubble" mentioned in the last email and finished off half of the garage. The area is now approx. 30x30 (900 SQFT). The area is insulated with rigid foam board (R6 in walls R4 board and R11 fiberglass insulation in ceiling ceilings are 9ft). My point is that the insulation is NOT GREAT. The heater is able to heat the entire area about 40 deg warmer than the outside temp. Unfortunately I haven't been able to test this heater when the temps were below zero with the area being insulated. This heater is stated to heat an area 500 sq feet but my area is almost 900 sq ft and it does the job to take the chill out of the area (even with a cement floor). Two of these heaters would EASILY heat my area to any temp (70 deg) no matter what the temp is outside. Remember, I live in a COLD area. I would still recommend this unit. I don't know exactly how much my electric bill went up but it did go up (not an outrageous amount). The only thing I would like to change on this unit would be when you turn it off the fan stops running but the area around the unit is still hot as it cools off could be dangerous if you are not in the room I suspect all heaters are similar to this though.

My workshop has been unusable for the last few years. This year, it is great and I can be productive on weekends! I had a 30 amp plug that was installed for some of my tools so that was not an issue. If you don't have one, you should get one put in for large tools and this heater. It is nice and toasty in about an hour and for a room with no insulation, it is able to keep it warm. I highly recommend this to someone looking to warm a work area.
