The towel warmer installed easily and is very solid. It isn't cheap looking or feeling. It actually looks very nice. BUT I am disappointed at the warming ability. I expected the towels to be nice and toasty when I get out of the shower. But they are just slightly warm and really only right in the center where the towel folds over the bar. I put the towel on the bar the night before and have tried snaking it through the warming bars every way I can but the towel is still only marginally warm. So while it is nice to have and looks great in the bathroom I renovated, I am disappointed in the performance. If I had it to do over, I guess I would spend a little more and get a bigger towel warmer that would warm the towels up better.

I am amazed at how efficiently this heater operates. We have it placed in our living room and run it on the low 400 watt setting for about an hour or two in the evening when the temps drop below 40 and it does a better job than our 1500 watt electric baseboard heater does running double that time. This will make a big difference in our energy cost bottom line. Very quiet too! Big Thumbs up!

In terms of heat output, this is a great appliance. I live in California where central heating is not normal, but where it still gets cold in the evenings, especially during the winter months. I picked this heater up at a Black Friday special and I wasn't expecting a lot from it, but was pleasantly surprised. Even on the low heat setting, its output is sufficient to keep my room toasty. Now, for the caution, and reason for a two-star rating:

The safety switch on the bottom is flaky, at best; sometimes it works, but more often it sticks and won't shut off the heater. One night, a pillow fell from my bed and landed on the heater, leaving the heater partially tilted (and in such a position that it would have shut off had the safety switch been working properly). My pillow burned on a slow smolder, filling my entire bedroom with a very thick, very dangerous black smoke that would have killed me if the alarm hadn't gone off when it did. Also, it burned long enough that the plastic frame holding in the metal grate on the heater's front has partially melted.

So, if you're going to use this heater, do not leave it running while you're sleeping or otherwise not attending it. Make sure it has a HUGE clearance on all sides. And definitely, do NOT expect that the safety switch will work.

I purchased this heater for a medium size bedroom. It works great on the high setting and heats the room up very fast. Once the room heats up the low setting maintains the warmth. I love the oscillating feature because it distributes the heat more evenly. The heat replicates the sun rays and is good for me because I suffer from seasonal affective disorder. Living in the northern states during the winter with the lack of sun is depressing but this heater makes me feel like I basking in the sun. I have noticed that my two cats love the sun-like warmth of the heater. They like to sleep and groom near it. Again a good heater for the price. I have purchased higher priced heaters and was not as pleased as I am with this one.

Honest reviews on Soleus Air HR3-08-21, Oscillating Reflective Heater, Black

Heater is very lightweight, as in thin plastic.

I use an under-desk heater year round, and this has saved me quite a bit in electricity bills. The low and high settings make it usable for under-desk, although it is pretty overkill.

Unit is about 2.5 feet tall, so keep that in mind.

On high with oscillation, it can easily heat a very large room.

Have owned it for 5 months now with no issues.

Purchased this heater for just basic heating and was pleasently surprised at the amount of heat this heater put out. I would recommend this purchase to anyone. If you have a room you want to heat and do it resaonably cheat. This heater is the one you should purchase.

I only bothered to write this after reading the previous reviews. Yes, you need to soak the newspaper a day or so. I have soaked legal documents too, for maybe 4 days, and used them. It is very easy to operate. I have taken to day camp and the children did it, so it cannot be all that complicated to use and figure out. Yes, it can be "messy." Get over it! Here in California, bricks are dry in about 2 weeks, depending on weather. And rolled up newspaper does NOT burn as well. IF you are in an urban area, esp. in aftermath of disaster, this would be a great way to make logs to burn with newspapers that are so abundant. Not perfect, but what is? What if you really needed to burn something (for purifying water, heating, cooking, etc.)? Though you can't burn these logs right away, I think they are the perfect thing for use in urban areas. And it isn't just for newspaper. I have used paper bags, various bond paper, junk paper (plastic removed), toilet paper rolls, old paper napkins, you name it! Logs from this device may not be your only fuel source, but I think it could be an important one. I am reminded of the people in Nazi Germany who burned their furniture to stay warm because they couldn't get coal or whatever other fuel they were using.

I purchased this item prior to winter and made several logs out of shredded newspaper. It is a summer use item, not something you want to do out in the cold. It is messy. The paper has to sit in the water mixture for at least 24 hours or it won't break down into pulp. The item itself works great. The logs don't burn very long unless you add wax or oil to the mix, which would never work for an indoor fireplace.

Best Deals on XtremePowerUS Newspaper, Paper Log Maker

I bought this thinking I knew how long it would take the logs to dry. WRONG!!! I made logs 3 weeks ago, and they are still wet to the touch. Now, having said that, I have them in an unheated garage. Dry time would be much shorter in a heated space.

I felt the need to add to my old review. Not only does it take forever and a day for these "logs" to dry, but when you put them on the fire they just smolder. I added 2 to an already burning fire and they just sat there and smoldered. I couldn't believe it. To get them to actually burn at all you have to break them up. As far as I'm concerned this press is junk. You're better off just rolling up the newspaper as tight as you can by hand and throwing that into the fire. It wouldn't last long, but at least you would get actual flame, and heat.

Shipped extremely fast! Looks amazing, however is much smaller than I had anticipated. I had been hoping for the price for it to be bigger. Very warm! Heats room quickly! Downside is that if you can't fit it flush against the wall you will see the created fire "crackling" from behind it against your wall. Also I would recommend placing it on a hard floor or creating a hearth for it to stand on. Fireplace tilted forward on our plush carpet, had to adjust this by propping the front end with a few pieces of cardboard which is hardly noticeable, but not great for if you have little ones, as they can still easily pull it over onto themselves. Overall very pretty.

Who spends money on fancy water heaters? People who like to have fine control over the brewing of their tea. Also, probably some folks who like to have unusual gadgets so they can rub it in the faces of those who are less awesome, but for the sake of this review let's pretend you're not one of those people.

This particular Zojirushi holds enough water for 2-3 people to drink throughout the day. It boils the water first -this takes about 15-20 minutes -and then allows it to cool to one of four "keep warm" temperatures. The "keep warm" presets of 208, 195, 175, and 140 are perfect for most kinds of tea, cup o' noodles, baby bottles, and various kinds of water torture on intrusive guests.

The magnetic break-away cord is a fantastic feature that demonstrates Zojirushi's attention to detail. When your mother decides to rearrange your kitchen without warning, you can rest assured that the Zojirushi will be safe from electrical mishaps. Don't ask how I know this.

Other safety features include an automatic shut-down when it runs out of water, a dispenser that will not dispense until you "unlock" it by pressing a button, and a "steam-save" design that limits the amount of steam being vomited into your kitchen. This last feature is especially nice for those of us with wall cabinets extending over the counter. I like to steam my food on the stove, not while it's in storage, thanks.

This device is so simple to use that even my husband can do it. That said, due to the charming Engrish in the instruction book, at first I was under the impression that the timer existed to shut down the machine. I realized later that either my math skills were terrible, or in reality the timer was designed to start it up. Ignore the fact that I ended that sentence with a preposition. The point still stands. The good news is that having a timed start-up is more useful to me than a timed shut-down, so for once I was glad to discover further evidence that I am an idiot.

I had one concern prior to purchase. Would teapots fit under the dispenser? I am pleased to report that they can, despite the best efforts of the Zojirushi photographers to make it look like the spout is designed to work with cups alone. If you have an epic teapot that serves 300, you might have a problem getting it up under there. But a normal pot? Rock on.

This little device is now my favorite appliance next to the washing machine. Because as much as I love tea, I like clean underwear better.

--

Note: Confused about which Zojirushi water heater to purchase? Check the comparison chart! Amazon links to this chart in the Product Details section of the description, but the average person manages to miss it. It's like a ninja, but with fewer pointy edges.

--

Update 1: It's now been over a year since I got my Zojirushi, and I am pleased to report that it still works like it's new. I have cleaned it twice with Zojirushi's cleaner -sold in packets here on Amazon -despite it never really looking like it needed cleaning at all. I did it simply because the company recommended it. I'm a follower like that. The Zojirushi has survived a move, three extreme power surges, and a switch to mineral-heavy tap water. I'm starting to wish Zojirushi had made my own body. I mean, think of the time I could save if I only had to be cleaned up twice a year! And I didn't survive the move in nearly as good a condition. Tsk. At least I'm not old enough for power surges yet.

--

Update 2: And now we're going on 2.5 years of ownership. It's survived a second move, as well as an unfortunate mishap that left its inner container discolored orange. No, you may not have the hilarious but humiliating details. The official cleaning packets I mentioned in my previous update saved the day, so it's good as new again. (Use the keywords "ZOJIRUSHI INNER CONTAINER CLEANER" here on Amazon to find a box of the packets. You only need one packet per cleaning job.) I'm pleased to report that over the years the Zojirushi has not slowed down, started making odd noises, or in any other way complained. Best $125 ever spent, outside that marriage license thing. I think.

Positive reviews are 100% correct regarding this product. We can't live without it. I do have one thing to say, though. Since it is not a thermal pot, it uses approx 90 watts to maintain a constant water temperature. I bought an International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor here on Amazon and this was the first product that I measured. My plugged in laptop only generated 40 watts of power....half of what this pot generates in standby mode. It comes in at 731 watts to boil water (my toaster takes 457 watts). We use the timer feature at night, but keep it on all day. So, figuring 16 hours of standby use and throwing in an average of three boils a day, we figure that it costs approx $12-15 per month to operate. We COULD take it off standby mode when not in use, but then it takes longer to boil....catch 22.

Bottom line? The product is so darn good at what it does, that we are willing to forgive the energy consumption cost.

I'm a big green tea drinker. I was stuck with microwaving my water and trying to guess the temperature. This usually ended up with me getting either lukewarm tea or yellow, disgusting tea. I now do not have that problem with this neat little contraption!

The inside is stainless steel with a Teflon-like coating. There will be a plastic smell the first time you use it and I'm guessing it's coming from the spout, but don't worry. After draining it a few times (I had to dump out 5 liters of hot water), the smell will go away. I was a little bit worried about the Teflon, since I am not a big fan of eating the stuff, but there's no reason for you to ever even put your hand inside this thing as you're supposed to dump some citric acid in it and let it clean itself. No scratches, no problem. The coating is there to keep mineral buildup from occurring.

The water level indicator is super cool on this thing and it will tell you how much water is in the pot or if you need to refill it. There's a timer so that you can set it for six to ten hours later, which is handy if you want to wake up and use it. It doesn't take long to boil at all -usually something along the lines of 30 minutes. It does, however, take a long time to cool down to the lower temperatures, so if you're using this for green tea, you may want to set it to boil six hours after you go to sleep instead of eight or ten.

It swivels, so you can angle it so the steam isn't pointed at your cabinets while it's on. It will shut off automatically if there's no water in the pot and it has a few nice features such as lowering the temperature before boiling so there's less steam coming out of it. It's a handy little product and I totally recommend getting the larger sized ones because once you have it, you'll use it a lot more than you think you will.

Honest reviews on Zojirushi CD-WBC40 Micom 4-Liter Electric Water Boiler and Warmer

After much research looking for a perfect boiler for my husband and me, I came upon this one. With only a handful of reviews, I was a little reluctant to buy it. But the description was just what I was looking for. I was also reluctant because I thought it looked a funny shade of pink in the photo and wasn't crazy about that color. But I ordered it anyway, thinking I could return it if we didn't like it. Upon opening it Christmas morning, my husband filled it with water and plugged it in. We have been using it nonstop ever since! When the water level gets low, we just refill it, let it reheat, and have another 4 liters of hot water in just a few minutes. We keep it plugged in day and night so the water is always ready! Love it!

The magnetic plug is so convenient. It just pops on. No pushing at all. Also, the unit swivels too which is kinda cool. The color is nothing like the picture shows. It's more of a beige and cream. Very attractive. The dispenser is up high so you can put a very large mug underneath. Very convenient! There is a window on the front so you can watch the water level and fill when running low. There are three temp settings: 175, 195, and 208. The other thing I really like is the unlock feature. You have to push the unlock button before you can dispense the hot water. Very smart for households with small children who could burn themselves with the water. Another cute feature is the melody it plays when the water has heated up (whenever you fill it). It also has a timer so if you don't want to leave it plugged in overnight, you can set the timer and it will heat your water in the morning so it's ready when you get up. We use it for tea, oatmeal, instant coffee, hot chocolate, grits, etc. VERY VERY CONVENIENT!!! We love this machine! Not one negative complaint!

I purchased the CDWBC40 (4 liter) version. I searched for a boiler that would stand at a preset temperature. This boiler handles that.

The fit and finish is pleasing, and I do not detect any hint of plastic taste--which I have detected in a few other boilers and coffee makers. I have used it for drip coffee and press coffee on both the 208 and 195 F settings. I like the flavor at 195 better than at 208. I use light-medium roast coffee, I think the higher temp would be fine with a darker roast.

There are a few things buyers should know which I have not seen in the reviews so far.

At least one reviewer said it took 15 minutes to reach a boil. With the unit filled with 4 liters of water, it took 35 minutes. Water from our tap is 72-75 F, and we are 1000+ above sea level. It took another 15 minutes to reduce the temperature to 195. The times increased to 45 minutes to boil and 60 minutes to reach 195 when we used filtered water from the refrigerator.

I fill the unit at night and plug it in so that I have hot water the next morning for coffee.

By the way the instructions are very clear about the time it takes to get your hot water to the correct standing temperature. They also recommend dispensing one cup before using the water as the temperature will be lower than the stand temperature--depending on the time the water has been standing. I found this to be accurate based on a digital probe thermometer. The first cup drawn was below 190; the second cup registered a bit under 195 (at the stand temperature set to 195).

I do not see any of this as being negatives for the product. It does seem to be counter to a few of the reviews on this site. With these types of products, I guess it is helpful to let users know what your ambient temperature, altitude, water temperature, and water volume is. I suppose it also would help to know the PPM of the water used. All of these affect boiling temperatures and time to boil.

Ambient room temp: 73 F

Water Temp: 74 F

Water particulates: 119 PPM

Altitude: 1023 ft above sea level

Barometric pressure: 29.9

The unit instructions state that it is able to change the standing temp at 208 to assure the unit does not continuously boil at higher altitudes. That does not apply at our relatively low altitude.

This heater works fine if you have a small room to heat and have a couple hours to wait for it to make a difference. I should have done more research and learned what convection heating (like this one) is all about. There is no warm air that blows from the heater unit, rather it just gets hot and the warm air rises from it. If you are looking for faster and more directed heat...I suggest a heater with a built-in fan.

Because the digital sister model SLP3310 would not work with a timer, I returned the 3310 to the big box store where I bought it and bought on-line 2 of the SLP3300 for $60 each & free shipping. The 3300 is analog, with 2 rotary dials. The 3300 will come back on after a power outage, and it will work with a 3-prong, 1875 watt timer. I use the 'low' heat setting with the thermostat on a modest setting, in a 12 x 14 foot room with 8 foot ceilings, and it keeps my (well insulated) bedroom very, very comfortable. Although Sunbeam has a lousy reputation in electric blankets, this 3300 heater appears well made. Note, the 'high' setting could burn paint off a wall if positioned too close.

I bought this unit last year and it stopped working after a few months. You turn it on, it heats up for 3 minutes then shuts down. Save your money, buy something else, this product seems to have a high failure rate from what I have read online.

Honest reviews on Sunbeam SLP3300-UM Low Profile Heater with Adjustable Thermostat

I bought one of these a little over a year ago. I didn't use it that much, but after the warranty (1 yr.) ran out, it stopped working. They sent out another one (to Sunbeam's credit), but it worked for about 8-10 hours then stopped. This is an example of too much tech for a simple product.

I took it apart to see if I could wire it back together and bypass the electronics. This one had already been worked on. The solder joint for the power cord was loose from the circuit board.

Threw it away and bought some Pelonis oil-filled space heaters. Rock solid.

We tend to keep our central heating set pretty low (65 during the day, 61 overnight), but we have a newborn so we wanted to keep one of the rooms really warm. This unit does a good job of keeping a 14x12 ft. room warm during the day and overnight. As the other reviews say, it doesn't heat up a cold room very quickly, but it does a good job of maintaining a temperature once it get to its target temp.

pro: it seems to do a good job maintaing a temperature once you figure out the right dial positions. It doesn't keep swinging between too cold and too hot.

cons:

1. No temperature degrees markings I'd really prefer to be able to turn the dial to 70 degrees and know that it'll shut off at 70. The way it is now, I had to turn the dial all the way up, wait for the room to get too hot, turn it down a little, then a little more, etc. until it finally kept the room at a comfortable temperature.

2. Timer it'd be nice if it had a built in timer so it would turn on/off at preset times. Right now we just have to switch it off and then *hope* we remember to switch it on a few hours before we want the room to be warm.

Discount Portable Butane Stove

Portable Butane Stove
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars
Buy Now
This butane stove is sturdy and strong. It's big enough that you don't have to worry about the whole thing tipping over, the way you do with a tiny camping stove.

The butane canister kind of looks like a large bottle of hairspray. It's simple to install the butane canister you just put the canister in there gently and flip a lever to connect it there's no chance that you will get it in there the wrong way. (You don't have to pour any fuel in with a funnel, or anything smelly like that.) When you are ready to store away the stove, you just disconnect the butane canister, pop the plastic cap back on, and put it away.

I found out that butane canisters can be purchased on the web, but the shipping costs are more than the cost of the canisters, so it's easier to buy them locally at restaurant supply stores, or sporting/camping stores. On the other hand, if you are in the middle of a big weather disaster, and every store in town is sold out of butane canisters, then who cares about how much it costs. Thankfully UPS and Fedex deliver will stuff to your door, even in the middle of a winter wind/ice storm. Normally a butane canister costs about $2 or $3, and lasts around 3 hours. It's better to have a few in the garage, because they sell out pretty fast during a big windstorm, even in a metro city area.

This is a great stove for when the power goes out. The next time we get a windstorm, and the power goes out for 3 days, like it did during the big windstorm of Jan 2007 in the metro Seattle area, I'm all set.

By the way, I would recommend getting a butane stove even if you have a generator, because you will need the generator to run some lights and a heater. It's not much fun to have to disconnect the heater and the lights from the generator, , in freezing weather. With a butane stove, you can have your coffee, and your lights and heater too. It makes life much more pleasant during a long power outage.

The stove comes in a nice case and is lightweight. You have to be careful to line up the groove in the butane canister and turn over the burner plate to expose the pot holders. It starts easily and has a variable flame. We got it primarily for when the power goes out and wanted a clean burning unit that we could use indoors. Butane is a cleaner burning fuel than the white gas used in our old camping equipment and this is a much more stable stove as well.

Best Deals on Portable Butane Stove

I wanted a portable butane stove to use in emergencies. I spent a long time reading reviews of different models, and had a hard time making a rational decision because, to tell the truth, stoves of this kind hardly differ in their feature sets at all. They all use the same 8oz butane canisters, all have piezoelectric igniters and let you adjust the flame from high down to nothing. As far as I know they're all light (including this one -some online data I saw gave its weight as 7 lbs., which is misleading at best as it's really more like 4) and I think most of them come in a plastic case. I finally chose this one because it had many reviews on Amazon, most of them positive, featured a 10,000 BTU burner, and had a carrying case right in the product photo so I knew for sure it came with one.

Although I only expect to use my stove in emergencies, I tested it out when I first got it. I put a pan of water on, and it boiled in a very reasonable time. However, there are some annoyances that I have to point out. First of all, as others have said, you have to make sure the notch on the fuel can is lined up with the pin on the fitting before you press down the lever that pulls the can into the fitting. Unfortunately there's no kind of guide to help you line it up, you just have to eyeball it. In contrast, I found an instructional video for the Sterno ActionStation stove, and it has a little tab that folds down into the slot so you know it's lined up correctly. In hindsight that would be a nice feature to have. Second, when you do push down the lever, the torque of the lever-driven assembly pulling the fuel can into the fitting causes the entire stove to bend a little bit out of shape until things are fully seated. This is a little alarming, so it would be nice if the stove were just a little more rigid. Third, the control knob is a little wobbly so it's hard to tell whether you have the gas set on "max" or "min" without actually looking at the flame. Finally, like most butane stoves of this kind, this model has only four supports for your pot or pan to sit on (as opposed to my kitchen range, which has eight). This makes it seem a bit precarious if you're using a small-diameter saucepan. It would be nice if the supports extended a little farther toward the center of the burner to provide better stability.

All in all, this stove is just fine and I'm going to keep it, but I can't give it five stars.

Honest reviews on Portable Butane Stove

This stove can come in really handy even without a power outage. Used it to cook brunch for a crowd. Also was handy during an outdoor BBQ as an extra burner to sautee onions next to the grill. Would be easier to clean if the base around the burner was a smoothe paint rather than dull. Overall, works well.

During the recent winter storms, I lost power for most of a weekend. With no way to cook (my stove is electric), I lived on crackers & cheese and cereal in frigid temperatures. I vowed that I was not going to go through another power outage like that, so I came to Amazon to find a solution.

I found and ordered this product and, while I haven't actually cooked on it yet, I have assembled it (with a butane canister that I purchased separately) and turned it on several times. It is very easy to set up, but there are a few things that I feel potential buyers should know:

1) It wasn't immediately obvious to me (and no instructions were included) that the burner top is shipped upside down, not right side up as shown in the product picture. So, upon opening the carrying case, you need to lift out the burner top and flip it over. Note that there are curved sides and a straight side--the burner will only fit into the stove one way, so you'll need to line up the curves on the burner with the curves on the stove for it to fit right.

2) When you insert the butane canister into the stove, look for an opening (a cutout of sorts) on the lip at the top of the butane can. Line up that opening with the stove's receptacle and then push down the lever on the front of the stove to lock it in place. If you put in the butane canister and you don't get a flame when you turn on the stove, it is likely because you did not align the canister properly (this happened to me twice).

3) Some reviewers have reported not being able to find butane canisters to fit this stove at their local hardware store. I bought a 4-pack of canisters on Amazon. If you do the same, be very careful to review shipping costs before adding it to your cart. Most if not all of the butane on Amazon isn't sold by Amazon but by other sellers and some of the shipping costs are outrageous--some are more than the cost of the butane! (I'm told that because butane is a flammable substance, the seller may have to pay an extra fee to ship it.)

4) The butane does put off fumes, so you'll need to use the stove in a ventilated area. I imagine most buyers of this product use it for camping, but I'm buying it for a cooking source during a power outage, so I'd use it on my balcony or outside my house.

5) Be careful about storing your butane canisters. My initial thought was to store them in the garage, but in the summer my garage gets quite warm, so I don't think it would be safe to store them there year-round.

I love that the stove comes in its own carrying case, so that I can store it easily and safely when it's not in use (which, in my case, will be most of the time). This way, I don't have to worry about dust and bugs getting in it and having to clean it each time before I can use it.

Review of Amcor ALTL12000EH 12000-BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Heat

This is the most terrible piece of electronic/small appliance/ home equipment I have ever had to deal with. The unit is ridiculously heavy, and therefore difficult to move and very frustrating and difficult to position near windows of various heights from the floor. It heats the room as much as it cools, rendering it as "useful" as a fan sucking in air in a window on a hot and humid day. It does this because the pipe that "vents" to the outside radiates heat through itself. The hot part of the A/C unit is still in the room with you, not hanging out the window, and therefore renders the cooling ineffective.

Go to insulate this trash thin plastic pipe, and its fitting cuff teeth that fasten it to the back of the unit snap off. It is poorly built, over-priced, and a frustrating waste of money and time.

The graphical display on the unit takes a thorough re-read of the manual to interpret all its obnoxious symbols for operation. I cannot wait to bring this back and retrieve every wasted nickel spent on it.

My advice to you is to buy a window unit. If you must get a "portable" one, don't buy Amcor. They Amsuck.

I purchased a NanoMaxA12000EH several years ago to cool a large bedroom of around 300 sqft. The equipment is advertised for up to 400 sqft. Presumably more than adquate for this application. Window units are sized at about 20 btu per sqft or in this case 6,000 btu. To be immediately noted is that it takes a lot more btu per square foot for this and other portable air conditioners to achieve the same outcome as a window unit half the size in btu.

So how did it work? Not well at all. On a hot day starting with the room in the mid 80 degree range with say 60 percent humidity it cannot cool the room down. It may drop the temperature 1 degree per hour. If we cool the room with a fan it can drop the temperature from say 78 degrees to 74 degrees in 2-3 hours. It of course provides comforting cool air if you focus on you.

A call to AMCOR support revealed that the technician thought I was definitely at or above the limit of its capacity at 300 sqft.

In use it is easy to see why it is slow. It adds considerable heat load to the room through the exhaust tube and in particular the large plastic attachment the connects the tube to the window vent. This plastic can be very hot to the touch and it is of course inside the room. The tubing is less hot however I have it as close to the window as possible (2 feet) to minimize the length the tube is played out. Presumably a long stretch of tube will also generate a lot of heat like a dryer duct. In sum, the unit is adding substantial heat load to the room severely compromising cooling efficiency. I addressed this issue by placing wet towels on the tubing and large plastic fitting. So long as they are wet they do keep it cool.

I also learned from the service rep you cannot operate the heating feature without also having the tubing installed in the window. Of course on a cold day you probably do not want an insert in your window.

Since the compressor, fans, etc. are inside the room it makes more noise than a window unit.

The filters (3) are white so it is easy to miss seeing that they should be cleaned.

On the plus side it is easy to roll around and install the vent in the window although I had to upgrade the insulation around the edge of the window insert to keep hot air that was vented circulating back into the room. I looks nice and it avoids having an unsightly window unit sticking out of a front window.

In sum, if you want cooling you are well advised to get a good window unit many of which are not that hard to insall. This unit would be best used in a room of 200 square feet or less.

Purchased my Amcor ALTL 12,000EH about three years ago. Wanted one to cool and heat my windowless two car attached garage. I decided to set it up on a work bench and vent to the attic area rather that cutting a hole in a wall or door.

Living in coastal Georgia it does get the temperature to comfortable level in both summer and winter.

I purchased this heater to help keep my "three season" sunroom warm in the cooler weather not toasty warm, but above freezing and usable with a couple sweaters or a light jacket. It is solidly constructed, and the fan moves a good amount of air without being too loud. It has a timer to allow it to run and then shut off or it can run continuously, but the thermostat has no markings to indicate desired temperature. I also find that it tends to cycle on an off frequently and somewhat unpredictably, as though when it runs it heats itself up and the thermostat shuts it off prematurely. It seems to work better when laid on its side rather than standing up.

Since I purchased it to prevent a room from getting too cold but actual temperature is not a major concern it is fine. If you are looking for a heater for a primary living space where accurate and consistent temperatures are desired, this may not be the unit for you.

I was almost convinced not to buy this, buy the other amazon reviews. My own experience differs greatly. I bought this during the Friday special for $30 and free shipping. The heater is large, so make sure you note the heightxwidthxdepth numbers. This isn't a cheap small heater like the 2 dozen at walmart. The heater is much better than others (cheap walmart type) I've used in the past. The ONLY annoying thing was the timer that made a noticeable time-bomb type of sound as it counted down. HOWEVER, after close examination I noticed that there is a setting that doesn't use the timer, that also rids the user of that annoying tick. So, that detractor is gone.

Another reviewer noted that it was loud and shaky on hardwood. I disagree 100%. I'm using it on hardwood, and get no vibrations at all. The only thing I hear is the white noise of the heater working. And its no louder or quieter than what I expect from any portable heater.

This is a very decent header. The housing is big relative to the heating element. I got this unit at a very good price because it was featured in a Friday sale. The only complaint is the control; it is not intuitive or it is unnecessarily complicated. Normally, one would not need to consult the manual to understand the control for a simple heater.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi MCH710T Multi-Position Ceramic Heater

I bought this heater during the Friday deal. For that price this heater is great value and a real bargain. It seems well made and has decent features. I have used it both in the tower and horizontal configuration and it provides heat quickly feels real nice when you enter a freezing room. I am ordering a second one since we were taking it all over the house. The controls are easy to use once you get used to it. I had to refer to the manual a couple of times to understand what the various symbols on the dial meant but it was no big deal.

I bought this heater on a Friday sale so I got a good price on it. I was looking for a small heater to warm a bathroom during Illinois winters and this has fit the bill. The heat output is great for the small room, it heats up in about 2 mins and needs to be turned down after 10 mins. The controls are not the best as mentioned in other reviews the "on" dial is like a kitchen timer that ticks all the time. But for the hour I need it in the mornings, it works really well.

There's not much to say if you own an espresso machine, you need this. Every time the machine boils water, any minerals fall out of solution the harder your water the more minerals resulting in sluggish performance as the heating element now has to heat through "stone". Used regularly, your machine will run as good as new, without the horrible smell and aftertastes of other decalcifiers, such as vinegar.

I used this descaler on my Tassimo machine. I worked fine and I am sure did the trick.

I wanted to write this review to warn everyone out there that this product will stain your granite counter tops. I had no idea. I set the bottle on my black granite and later found a stain in the shape of the ring left behind from the solution. Needless to say that I am totally bummed and saddened that my granite is ruined. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please let me know!

Thanks.

This is the descaler recommended by my espresso maker. It works well, kind of expensive (well anything would be expensive compared to vinegar and water). I use the discarded solution to soak inside my electric teakettle before discarding so I do get twice the use out of each bottle. Recommend buying in multiple quantities to save on shipping.

no one ever replied. So I am stuck with a great heater with a dented door. Thanks!!!!!!!!

Bought this for my crews to use on smaller pvc conduits. This thing heats up so quick we threw the blanket heaters away. It has built in rollers but you don't have to roll it too long. Greenlee is definitely the electricians choice with all the tools they make and this is no exception.

I have owned this hammock for approximately 1 month and am extremely pleased with it. Some of the reasons why include:

1. Attractive. The photograph of the hammock does not do it justice. The red and greens are deep and rich, the oak spreaders shine. The stripes add a nice color dimension which is lacking in a rope hammock. It simply looks lovely swinging in the breeze under a shady tree in my backyard.

2. Comfortable. After reclining in a quilted hammock, I will not go back to a rope hammock no ropes cutting into you! Note that the quilting is light you get a bit of cushion, but it is NOT like lying on a bed. The potential con is that the fabric will not "breathe" like a rope hammock. It may be that the rope hammock (with the loose weave) is cooler on a hot day, but I have not had any problems with feeling overheated.

3. Well made. The hammock comes complete with everything you need to hang it immediately. This includes the tree hooks, chains (many hammocks don't include the chains) and a very clever hook/hanging system. Basically, the chain is welded to the center of a dual ended hook one side hooks into your eye-bolt or hammock stand. The other end is where you can drape the chain links in order to shorten the chain. It's a simple idea once it you see it, but it works very well. Your hammock will hang at the correct height. The chains appear to be rust-resistant, and the oak spreaders are treated with marine polish to help make them weather resistant.

4. Weather resistant. My kids left the hammock out and of course the tree dropped leaves on it and it rained. It dried quickly and I simply brushed off the leaves. Voila! Good as new. I was concerned that the rich colors would run/fade if it got wet, but the dye appears weather resistant.

This hammock is a winner.

Update: I have now had this hammock for over a year and it still looks like new! Granted, I stored it in my garage for winter, but it has been in use outside most of the year. Hurray for DuraCord Fabric! Truly, an excellent product!

I bought this as a present for my husband along with a stand. We placed it in an open patio area today with lots of sun. And apparently lots of birds. Within a few hours, there was bird poop all over it. Remarkably, much of it wiped off with a dry paper towel. And then with a wet soapy sponge the rest came off and you can't tell it was ever dirty. And the material dried really quickly. The material is awesome!

After quite a few years of owning a cotton, open mesh, quality hammock, the squirrels decided to chew on the many knows in the ends of the hammock. I repaired it as best as possible but you can't win with a squirrel as your adversary.

Hence it was time to get a new hammock (not squirrel) and I purchased this beautiful quilted model. It is excellent. After using it all summer I can easily say this is the best hammock for comfort I have ever owned. It is a beautiful piece of work and the quilted fabric makes you think you are on memory foam.

I purchased this item on Amazon about a year ago, and it has been awesome. The amount of heat given off by this is pretty amazing. We can now use our deck in the spring and fall! Easy to mount and so far has been trouble free.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I thought this was going to work for the area directly above out hot tub, boy was I wrong. I mounted this 8 foot above the front side of the hot tub and angled it so it would heat the area above everyone's head. While mounting it I was extremely happy from looking at the construction, solid metal, great mounting brackets, along with a long cord.

First off from reading other reviews I kept reading 10 x 10 area, in my test we were hoping for 9 x 7 foot section. I was hoping this would take the edge off from the winds that blow thru in the winter months. The plus would be to provide us with a area directly under the heat light to dry off in the warmth.

That night the temperature dropped to 55 degrees and very little wind. So we were ready to try it out. And i felt this would be a EASY test for this to pass.

Outdoor test minimal wind, covered deck.

After plugging the unit in, I wondered around the hot tub to feel the heat, it was almost nothing more then 6 foot directly in-front of the light. I didn't let that ruin the night so we got in the hot tub, I also started realizing my private area in my own back yard was really under the spot light now. This 1500 watt light produces a lot of visible light.

In comparison, I grabbed a yellow bug light and put it in a shop light. The 100 watt bug light was less to at the most about the same brightness of this heat light. The heat produced was good enough to heat the first 3 feet as if I was a hamburger at a fast food restaurant and nearly non existent 6 foot out. But in comparison, you would be better off buying two satco s4998 heat lights that produce about the same heat and far less visible light for over a $250 savings. Along with saving 1000 watts of electricity.

Garage shop area test.

Final test was to try this out in my garage I mounted this on the ceiling about 9 foot above my shop area, I left this on for 10 mins and came back to find it did an fair-OK job warming a closed area, insulated area. After the 10 min test I was satisfied to say this unit works ok indoors, but is far from the manufactures statements comparing this is a outdoor commercial unit.

In conclusion this unit could work if your goal is to heat and light a small enclosed area. If your goal is to heat the outdoors this is not for you unless you are only looking for a small area outside so one person can smoke in the dead of winter without freezing to death

Recommended product instead, each light can easly take the chill off a 4x4 area, or inside 8x12 x 2 lights

Honest reviews on Solaira Cosy SCOSYAW15120B 1500W/120V Outdoor

I built an outdoor Pergola that is approx. 12 x 18'. I thought that by purchasing two of these space heaters and mounting them across from on another under the Pergola, they would provide sufficient heating for the space. Upon arrival, I decided to mount just one of the Solaira Outdoor Heaters to test the output of the heat. Unfortunately, the heater seemed to barely work at all? In order to feel the heat, you had to be standing up almost directly under the heater to feel anything at all. I of course, decided not to mount the second one and have returned the unused Solaira Cosy Outdoor Commercial/ Residential Heater. I would suggest that you need a unit(s) to provide ample heating in a relative space such as the Pergola I built, then I would go with one of the larger sized units that are available.

Bought two, one began to smell like something burning, overloaded circuit, fire hazard. My husband and I decided not to use product because we were afraid we'd burn our house down so now we have two of these and the seller will not allow us to return them. Seller is blaming manufacturer. These are expensive to just be sitting in their box, not worth taking a chance our house will catch fire. Very disappointed with the item even more disappointed with the seller.
