These heaters are effective. Yes, you can't place anything in front of them, but unlike the long skinny baseboard heaters, they don't take up so much wall space. They are a little noisy, but they don't have to be on for very long.

I have these heaters in my house and am changing them out for Convect-air. These heaters are VERY expensive to run and as one customer mentioned, they do not put out more heat than a hair dryer. I definetely do not recomend this product

King Electrical 1000-Watt Electric Forced-Air Wall Heater #W2410

My electrician installed this wall heater and wired it with 220 wiring and I turned it on expecting this forced air heater to heat my 90 cubic ft shower area. After waiting for some 5 minutes for the expected heat my electrician who had his hand near the discharge area exclaimed, " my dog puts out more heat panting than that". I was very disappointed and ask him to try it with 110 wiring. The results were the same. If I stood with my bare feet below the warm air discharge I have to admit my toes were toasty.

I was surprised that Amazon would carry a product of such low quality since I have been very satisfied with the many products I have purchased in the past.

Review of Aerolatte Milk Frother, Satin

Aerolatte Milk Frother, Satin

I just got the box from Amazon, pulled out my new Aerolatte, removed the protective cover from the battery compartment (yeah, it even comes pre-loaded with a pair of "aerolatte" double A's!), and put about 2 oz of NON-FAT (skim) milk in a glass.

I nuked the milk for about 20 seconds, pulled it from the microwave, stuck the aerolatte in the glass and pushed the switch.

DANG!!

Nearly INSTANT foam. GOBS of it. It formed PEAKS!! You could make small milk-animals out of it.

I really can't believe how well this thing works. The only thing that would ruin it for me is if it simply fell apart after a few uses, but frankly, with a little bit of care, it looks like it'll hold up. We'll see.

But in the meantime, call me Doctor Foam.

-Jonathan Sabin

UPDATE ***9 MONTHS LATER***

Notwithstanding the complaints of people who claim that their aerolatte lasted about 5 minutes, I just replaced the batteries for the first time since buying it back in January. (Yes, it still works, but I was disappointed that I was no longer able to make foam-animals!)

Well a couple of fresh Duracells later, and I sound like a deranged dentist with this thing in my hand. The "buzz" I had become accustomed to, is now a high-pitched whizzing sound, that actually made my molars uncomfortable.

But I'm back to making some seriously decent foam again!

I have owned this for about 5 years. I use a stover top espresso maker which works about as well as electric steam type. I have found that the electric pump type that are less than $250.00 don't work that well, and take up too much counter space in a small kitchen. This does work, but I found something that froths milk much better than this and much faster.

Use a small Bodum 4 cup French Press. Put your milk in the French Press (not the same one you are making your coffee in. Get a second smaller one) and rapidly work the plunger up and down for about 10 to 20 seconds. You have frothier milk in less than half the time and you won't need to change batteries every two weeks.

This works amazingly well. We've used it for a poor-man's latte by microwaving milk, then frothing it to simulate steamed milk, then mixing it with various coffees. We've also used it to froth hot chocolate. Doesn't work that well for making whipped cream.

Honest reviews on Aerolatte Milk Frother, Satin

I'm pleasantly surprised at the thick, firm, yet light, foam this product produces from homemade soy milk ... all that with my very first attempt! Now, I can experiment with some light flavors. Trust me ... this is a no brainer! My only regret is that I waited so long to give this little gadget a try. I'm at the bottom of my first large cup of coffee using this little frother, and the froth/foam had such staying power that I'm having to use a spoon to get the last it from the cup. Thank you Areolatte!!

UPDATE 12/22/06: Boy oh boy, how I love Aerolatte frothers!! I now own three of these little gadgets! I recently bought 2 more from the online Aerolatte distributor. The very newest top-of-the-line model is all stainless (even the handle), has a thicker stainless stem, and comes with a large stainless stand. Then, they have the black molded plastic one that comes with it's own sturdy grey, protective, plastic container with a cap on one end (not the one with the tin case) for on the road. I just can't seem to contain myself with how happy I am with this product! I hope this review is useful to some who might have doubt.

Performs as described, makes loads of creamy frothy milk for your coffee. (I found that frothed half-and-half gets thicker and is foamier for longer than soy milk. The joys of extra fat.) We can make tons of cappuccinos and lattes at home with our own coffee. Starbucks who?

I'm getting another one, I love this sucker so much.

Energy efficient at 400 and 800 watts vs 1500 for a convection heater.

In short, if you:

1) stay pretty much in one spot during the day

2) have high ceilings or your home is really hard to heat

3) have dust allergies

4) use a heater just during your waking hours and pile on the warm blankets at night

5) are not bothered by some light being emitted from your heater

6) have cats or dogs

7) love how it feels when the sun warms up your clothes and skin

8) are concerned about energy efficiency

9) need a heater that won't burn anyone who bumps into it

then this is the space heater for you!

I'm a graduate student living alone in a one-bedroom apartment. Here in Reno, I pay more than $100 for the electricity during the winter season. I figured out that this is probably due to my heaters which are electric-powered. My apartment has a built-in electric heater and I have a Delonghi heater (DFH 333MT). I have no complaints about the Delonghi heater except that it consumes lots of electricity(1500 W) and I just don't like the feeling of the warm air plus it makes me feel dry.

To save money I decided to invest in this little heater and I was not disappointed. It just consumes 400 W (low setting) and 800 W (high setting).

To give you an idea of how good it is, I turned off the built-in electric heater in my apartment and the Delonghi heater and I did not feel cold at all even in the LOW SETTING.

The lights at LOW SETTING is not as bright as I thought. But in case you cannot sleep with its emitted light, I suggest that you put a blindfold. The light feels good. This device has also a safety mechanism. If you tip it, it will stop working and if it reached a certain high temperature,it will automatically stop. To sum up, a good buy.

This heater is made in China. I just hope that it will last for a long time.

UPDATE: In colder evenings, you need to use the HIGH SETTING. The light is too bright but the heat is enough esp. if you are at least 3 feet apart from it. In my case, I still need to turn on my apartment's built-in electric heater but only at LOW SETTING. This Soleus heater is just not enough to heat my whole room which is connected to the kitchen.

Well, it has been more than a year since I updated this review. I now live in Moscow, ID (from Reno, NV)doing postdoctoral studies and this heater still works!

If you want heat, this one's for you. It puts out more heat at 400 watts than most 1500 watt heaters, so it'll cost far less to run. I haven't even set it on high (800 watts) because I haven't needed to. Some may object to the light it emits but that's like complaining about the sun because it's too bright if you stare at it. You can set it up peripherally or at a slight angle away from your direct vision, avoid the light and still get plenty of heat. Buy this now while it's on sale and you can get free shipping. I don't know how long these halogen bulbs last, but it really does the job.

UPDATE (11/07):

After using this for two years, it's easily paid for itself. However, I bought one for a friend and it and its replacement (covered by Soleus under warranty) were defective. The third one she received seems to be OK, however she prefers the Presto Parabolic Heater since she claims it heats a wider area and doesn't emit as much light. The Presto costs half again as much ($75), may do slightly better but also uses more electricity, so figure out what's right for you. I should add I don't use the Soleus at night, it's less intrusive and more efficient to use an electric blanket instead.

UPDATE (1/13):

Still going! I bought another Soleus a few years ago, slightly different model but both work like charms. I'm convinced this is the best value in space heaters and I'm glad to see they're still available. Look for the best deal and get yours while they last things this good are usually phased out for more expensive/lesser quality "upgrades".

Honest reviews on Soleus Air MS-09 Oscillating Reflective Heater

I bought this product to help heat a large loft. Knowing that hot air would simply blow away and be expensive, I thought I would focus on something energy efficient that could target a location. So here's a little breakdown.

The effective range of this product is limited. We keep it about 5-8 feet away to heat an one person at a time. It really has a max target area diameter of about 4-5 feet from that distance. Left on for a while in a small room, Like a bathroom...it does eventually heat up that space, but otherwise it's for very target heating.

Positives:

Warm instantly when in target area

Not hot to touch

energy efficient

Negative:

Really bright, you can't look at the thing for more than a few seconds when it's on high. We refer to it as "turning on the sun." Imagine a 50 watt bulb with a silver reflecting dish pointed at you.

See the angle that it's pointed in in the picture? It's slightly up. It's as low as it goes, it doesn't go directly straight or down why does this matter? We'll because say I want to heat myself from behind so it doesn't blind me I can't place it on a shelf or table.. It has to be on the floor and every chair I know has a back...so no help there. It will always shine on you. I'd also use it to heat my bed but I can't point it down at the covers. So basically it must be on the floor only.

Overall, a good product if you need target heating, from the floor, and can deal with brightness.

This beats oil filled heaters, ceramic heaters, and any others.

First because its efficiency. It runs in two modes 400w and 800w.

Which are a lot less than usually 1000w space heaters. at 400w i am

very comfortable.

second, I LOVE THE LIGHT.

there are studies where people get depressed living in dark regions

or seasonal changes. This thing give you kind of sun-like beam

and is very toasty and comfortable enough for me to go day dream.

very relaxing.

People think since it's halogen life span of the heater won't be more very long. However, upon close inspection the coil of the halgen is very

thick. It's not like halogen lamp that you use for lighting purposes.

It will last minimum 3 to 5 years if you are careful with it and don't shake it or move it around.

As a data processing manager, I have seen many office space heaters plugged into the same outlet as the person's computer. Most of these heaters draw 1500 watts at full power, risking popping a circuit breaker and shutting down their computer. Additionally, many of these 1500 watt heaters are poorly designed and melt their plugs over time. The Vornado VH101 Personal Heater draws either 750 or 350 watts, depending on setting. When placed on the desktop or hidden under the desk, it warms the user as well as a room heater without the above mentioned risks associated with excessive current draw.

I tried to like this heater. I really did, but it's actually not correct to call it a "heater". It's really a "warmer". I ended up returning it after several weeks of trying hard to make it work for me.

It performs nicely in cool rooms. It's probably ideal for an office or cubicle in a modern, heated building where you just need a little more warmth in your personal space. The vortex action of the Vornado is impressive. Unlike heaters that aim the heat at you, the Vornado aims it around you rather than simply blowing it on you.

However if you are like me and need to heat a cold room, this is not the device for you. During the winter, the temperature inside my office when I open it up in the morning is usually in the 42F-55F range, and this heater completely fails at heating it up. I was using the heater in conjunction with my oil-filled radiator, with the Vornado providing some heat while the oil-filled heater slowly heats up. The tiny 200 watt Lasko MyHeat does an excellent job at this, but the Vornado does not. Used in this way, The Vornado actually takes nearly twice as long to bring my tiny office up to 67F as the little Lasko does.

However, I don't want to totally bash the Vornado. For people with other heating needs, it could be a perfect choice.

What I like about it:

The tip-over switch works well, almost too well. The first day I used it, I didn't notice that the rear edge was resting on a USB cable. It was enough to stop the heater from working. It's a good safety feature.

It appears well made

The heater is good looking, a shiny black with a silver grill. I don't really care how a heater looks as long as it works well, but it's a definite plus to have it be good looking as well as functional.

It comes with a three year warranty, longer than many heaters.

What I don't like:

The switches are on back, so you can't see them unless you pick up the heater and turn it around. Until you're used to it, selecting high and low settings without seeing the buttons can be tricky, especially with a non-heat fan-only option between high and low. It was a nuisance, especially on a heater without a thermostat.

The warning light that shows that the heater has failed to turn on because of a problem such as sitting at an angle is nearly the same color as the orange power light. It should be a different color, such as red. You get used to it, but there really should be a greater difference in color.

I'm knocking off one star for the design problems in a heater as well designed as the Vornado, they are unexpected and I'm knocking off a second star for its pathetic heat output.

General information about buying electric space heaters:

=============================================

I've owned and used electric space heaters since 1988, mostly DeLonghi oil filled radiators. When I recently began looking for a heater that would warm up a room faster, I was frustrated at the lack of hard, objective, facts about electric space heaters. Even the manufacturer websites often fail to mention or makes it hard to learn the most basic information you need to know, such as wattage ratings and warranty lengths. Not even Consumer Reports has enough information to really inform a consumer. Therefore it's up to us as consumers to share what we know. The rest of this review shares some of what I've learned.

In case you're wondering what heater I decided on to replace my DeLonghi, I didn't, at least not yet. I tried a Vornado PVH and a Bionaire BH1331-U, but I ended up returning both heaters. I'm sticking with my oil-filled heaters for now.

Basic electric space heater facts:

1. All electric space heaters are equally efficient. All heaters rated at 1500 watts output the same amount of heat, but may do it very differently. You have to choose the one that heats the way you need it.

2. Power consumption is determined by two things: the power setting you're using and how long the heater is actually on. Turning up the thermostat setting doesn't increase the heat or power consumption; it just lengthens the time that your heater will be running.

3. To reduce power consumption, use the lowest power setting on your heater that produces the heat you need.

4. An electric space heater will save you money only if you turn your central heating down or off and use space heaters to heat only the rooms where you need heat.

5. The only kind of electric space heater that's likely to provide adequate heat in a large or draft space is a radiant heater (not to be confused with a radiator heater, which is very different), but radiant heaters pose a fire hazard.

Don't take manufacturer wattage claims too seriously. When I used my Kill-A-Watt meter on six space heaters, I found variations of up to 200 watts between the claimed and actual wattage for each space heater. In most cases the actual watts were less than the claimed watts, but one of my DeLonghi's 1500 watt heaters turned out actually to be a 1600 watt heater.

Two crucial steps in finding the electric space heater that's right for you:

============================================================

1. Learn which heater is right for your needs. A huge percentage of complaints by reviewers about space heaters are due to reviewers buying the wrong type of heater for their needs. Your first step should be to decide between the basic types: Ceramic heaters with a fan, oil-filled radiator, micathermic, and radiant. First learn the conditions in which each one works best and works best and then select the type that will work best for your needs. There is no one single "best" heater for all situations. Each one has conditions in which it works well and conditions in which it's terrible.

2. Look at the warranties. Warranties on space heaters range from one year to five years. Delonghi and Soleus heaters that I've checked have one year warranties. Other companies, such as Bionaire, Honeywell, Lasko, and Vornado offer three year and five year warranties on many but not all of their models. If a company offers only a one year warranty on some models but a five year warranty on others (such as Bionaire), it raises question about the durability of the heater with the shorter warranty. However a long warranty is only as good as the company offering it. Read reviews to learn what experiences people have when their heaters die while still under warranty.

In most cases, you'll have to download the manual from the manufacturer's website to get the length of the warranty. It's a nuisance, but it's worth taking the time to do.

Don't let anyone tell you that any particular type of heater is "the best". The best type is the one that best suits YOUR needs. The best heater for me might be the worst heater for you. Some heaters heat up a cold room faster, some keep a room at a steady temperature, and some will work better in a large space.

Some questions you need to ask yourself before deciding which type of heater to buyWill it be keeping a room at a steady temperature? (oil-filled radiator or micathermics heaters might be best)

Will it be heating up a cold room? (a heater with a fan or a radiant heater might be best)

Are there children or pets who might be injured by touching a hot surface? (oil-filled radiator and radiant heater might be a problem)

Do you want to heat just a particular spot rather than the whole room? (radiant heaters might be best

Are you concerned about fire risks? (oil-filled radiator or micathermic heaters might be best, though no space heater is completely safe)

Oil-filled radiators:

These are my favorite heaters. These are the heaters that look like old-fashioned steam radiators. The oil retains its warmth after the thermostat cycles off, which is important if you want to keep a room at a steady temperature. The downside is that the oil takes longer to heat initially, which is why these heaters take so long to warm up.

I have two DeLonghi oil-filled radiators; I've been using one of them for 23 years, and the other is about eight years old. I love the heat they provide. It's steady, warm, with no noise and no drying out of the air like with some other types of heaters. They are ideal for maintaining a steady temperature in an enclosed room.

Oil filled heaters have a huge drawback, however: they are terrible at heating up a cold room. It can take an oil-filled heater hours longer to heat up a cold room than other types of heaters.

The US Department of Energy recommends oil-filled heaters as the most efficient, because the fins generate warmth even when the heater's thermostat cycles off. However this efficiency is only when the heater is continually on, keeping a room at a constant temperature. If you turn the heater on and off frequently, you'll lose most of the efficiency that's inherent in these heaters.

If you have children or pets, look into one of the shielded radiator heaters. I prefer the unshielded ones because they radiate more heat laterally, but the surface can get very hot and be a hazard if touched. DeLonghi claims that their shielded radiator heaters circulate heated air more quickly. Both of mine are unshielded, so I have no way of confirming that. My concern about the shielded radiators is that they would direct more hot air up rather than to the side, where I need it.

If your electric rates are different for different times of the day, you can use this to your advantage in setting your radiator heater toswitch on and warm the room from cold when rates are low, then let it provide steady heat when rates are higher.

A word of warning about oil-filled radiators: if one is poorly made or damaged, it can leak oil and permanently damage rugs and floors or even start a fire. Only buy from a reputable manufacturer and don't accept one that has any visible damage.

Ceramic fan heaters:

These are great at heating a room quickly, however many people including myself don't like the heat they blow. I don't mind it in my Vornado Personal Heater (375/700watt), which is located under my desk, but I thoroughly dislike it in the old Honeywell ceramic oscillating heater that came with my house. I much prefer the warmth that comes from an oil-filled radiator. Ceramic heaters can be most effective at quickly warming up a cold room.

Radiant heaters

Radiant heaters (don't confuse them with radiator heaters!) work by heating whatever they are pointed at rather than heating the air in the room. If you have a large, drafty space, a radiant heater might be your best choice, because it doesn't heat the air, only the objects and people it's directed at.

Micathermic heaters

Micathermic heaters work similarly to oil-filled radiators, except that instead of heavy metal fins filled with hot oil, micathermic heaters have thin sheets of mica that heat up. I've only had experience with one micathermic, a Bionaire BH1331-U, and found that it's exterior surface remained very cool except for a few very warm spots on top. There would be less risk of young children being burned by touching a micathermic heater than an oil-filled radiator. Micathermic heaters are slower heating than ceramic fan heaters, but are faster then oil-filled radiators..

Baseboard heaters

I have a Lakewood oil-filled baseboard heater I bought five years ago that has many of the advantages of a micathermic heater. It heats faster than an oil-filled radiator but has no hot surfaces and low fire risk. My Lakewood does an excellent job of heating my 12x15 bedroom.

However I have not researched baseboard heaters and only have experience with this Lakewood, so I don't know whether others are as good as this one. I was impressed that when I measured the actual wattages of my various space heaters, the Lakewood's actual wattages came closest to its claimed wattages of all the other heaters I tested. Lakewood unfortunately went out of business in 2009 and had a major problem with oil leaking from its heaters a few years earlier. Despite this, it's in many ways my best heater and has the lowest cost of operation.

I ordered this for my wife, who actually wanted a larger version of the same unit. After reading the specs and reviews I picked the EH1-0050-06. It Was for her cube at work and a larger one of a different brand had already tripped the circuit breaker and shut down a few computers. The IT people were not very happy. This one works great, keeps her warm and stays under the power draw to trip the circuit. She uses the fan mode when too warm and the heater when too cold. Perfect!

Honest reviews on Vornado VH101 Personal Space Heater

My VH101 personal heater works great. However, shortly after running it for several hours it started to make a "clicking" sound which is very annoying. I emailed Vornado customer service about the problem and never heard back from them. We own a couple of other Vornado products that have performed well for us for many many years. Those units were made in USA. The VH101 was made in China. Even with the annoying "clicking" sound, I recommend the VH101.

This little heater is perfect. It's quiet, it's compact, and it keeps me warm! What's not to love? I also like the built in safety feature, which is the little button underneath which, if the heater gets tipped over, or is even lifted off the ground, it turns off. Also, I like that the body stays cool regardless of temperature so it's not hot to the touch. The only potentially negative thing I have, if you can even call it that, is when I put it on the HIGH heat setting, it smells like heat... vaguely like hot plastic even though the unit is NOT, in fact, melting. I wouldn't trade it for anything, I am finally comfortable at my office. LOVE IT.

I ordered this unit for work, so I wouldn't have to keep buying soft drinks from the vending machine. It does work in that capacity, but there are some annoyances with it, and some limitations.

First I'll start off with the positives. It's lightweight, and it's really attractive. It also does cool things pretty well. I can't comment on warming things up, because I haven't tried it.

The negative part is it is quite large for what it can hold. And more than that, the insides don't hold temperature very well at all after you power it down. It warms up way too fast. Also, unlike a compressor based refrigeration unit, this thing is on all the time. Lastly, you are only supposed to run this for 48 hours consecutively, after which time you need to power if off for one hour. This is not stated in the description, but is an annoyance.

So, overall, it's not bad, because it does keep things quite cold, and you can put most things in it (2 liter bottles you have slant a little). Particularly at work, it can save you money, and give you a much better selection than the vending machine since you can bring in whatever you want. You will also get comments on how beautiful it is; it's that attractive. Just be aware of its imperfections so you won't be disappointed.

I bought two of these and as an electrical engineer I can attest that the circuit board inside the can is cheaply made and poorly designed; the cord heats up after a while and the unit will eventually die. This mini-fridge is defintely a fire hazard. If you buy this, you should invest in a timer to shut the unit down for an hour or two per day, maybe 2AM to 4AM.

FYI:

I also bought the Pepsi Can fridge and it is a beast. I never unplug the unit and it has been running for 6 months now. It is a little smaller than the Coke can (which is great) and it does not have an ugly AC/DC converter brick (not shown) hanging from it like the Coke can does. The Pepsi can's power is converted internally; only a cord is exposed and not any ugly power brick.

Update: Both Coke Frigdes died in less than 4 months of constant use. The Pepsi Fridge eventually died after 7 months. I recommend to stay away from these fridges. They are great to look at but they are NOT made for everyday use.

Update2: I opened up the two Coke fridges and the Pepsi fridge, and realized a biasing capacitor blew in each. I went to RadioShack and bought replacement caps, and now I have my fridges back. Easy fix for those who can de-solder a part from a small circuit board, and replace it with an equal (or better part). I bought capacitors with a higher breakdown voltage (100V rating), so it will be able to take a little more abuse.

Honest reviews on Koolatron CC10 Coca-Cola Can Cooler

I got this for Christmas and it stopped working after 6 months. I called the manufacturer (Koolatron) and they said it only has a 90 day warranty. When I said it's only been 6 months, they said that the refrigerator was from China, so it wasn't warrantied past 90 days. They offered that I could buy a new motor $30 or new AC adapter ($40). Don't buy this please. You can do a lot better without the hassle. I also had to buy a little thing that turned it on/off every night, so the total cost of this thing far outweighs its cuteness.

With dozens of so called "ceramic" portable heaters on the market it can be very difficult to sort through all the models. Here are the facts friends; Pelonis (Del Rain) pionerred the original fully ceramic portable heaters back in the mid 80's...these models use 100% ceramic heating (disc design) elements and will approximately double the amount of heat available, watt for watt, than all other so called "ceramic" heaters. Why the confusion? the lower cost units (20-30$) use very small ceramic conductive elements which are then joined to long metal type heating fins; (there is only an upfront cost saving); the pelonis disc furnace will pay for itself in less than one heating season! And, by the way, our own space shuttles employ this same type of heating unit on their missions. Case dismissed.

The Pelonis Disc Furnace is the most efficient and safest small space heater ever built. Dispite their small size, they can easily heat a large room.

The B-6A1 ceramic space heater is one of the best I have used over many years experience...It far exceeds those which cost less, such as the one's offered at Lowe's, Home Depot, K-Mart, Wal-Mart and elsewhere...In my opinion it is better buildt and puts out more heat than others...It is also far quieter and has a varible temp. selector...You will find that this heater cost more, but you only get what you pay for...It will give you years of good service..

Honest reviews on Pelonis Classic Ceramic Heater

My Dad bought an original Peopnis disc furnace in 1982 because it was used on NASA flights to heat the spacecrafts. How cold does it get up there???

We still have it and it works great.

I have bought over 25 Pelonis furnaces since then. They originally called them furnaces for a reason. Here are the pros and cons. The ones with forced air are not as good as the true ceramic. The ones with out the ceramic discs are not any better than other cheap heaters. The Original ceramic only are excellent par anything They heat up the rooms in our trailer from 25 degrees to 75 degrees 10x12 rooms) and turn off automatically in about 15 minutes. That is unbelieveable The heat penetrates into the furniture and into you. It is not just ehating the air it heats the contents of the room. We did get a black plastic one and it did melt the case when we had it too close to a metal item but oh well, it still runs 10 years later!!! I recommend the original Pelonis with temp control, the browm metal box type. We have had the newer styles and oscilating and no it is not like the original for sure. Thanks for listening

Do not buy this heater or any Pelonis product. I bought this heater two months ago. I turned this heater on and it burned my linoleum floor. I tried calling the number on their web site and it just rings and rings. I sent an email to them and I have not received a response.

I bought the same model twenty years ago and was extremely happy with it. Comparing it with the new model there is no comparison. The new one is built really cheap and flimsy. The are lots of plastic parts with the new one. My old was made in the USA while the new one now made in China.

I purchased this heater to help keep my "three season" sunroom warm in the cooler weather not toasty warm, but above freezing and usable with a couple sweaters or a light jacket. It is solidly constructed, and the fan moves a good amount of air without being too loud. It has a timer to allow it to run and then shut off or it can run continuously, but the thermostat has no markings to indicate desired temperature. I also find that it tends to cycle on an off frequently and somewhat unpredictably, as though when it runs it heats itself up and the thermostat shuts it off prematurely. It seems to work better when laid on its side rather than standing up.

Since I purchased it to prevent a room from getting too cold but actual temperature is not a major concern it is fine. If you are looking for a heater for a primary living space where accurate and consistent temperatures are desired, this may not be the unit for you.

I was almost convinced not to buy this, buy the other amazon reviews. My own experience differs greatly. I bought this during the Friday special for $30 and free shipping. The heater is large, so make sure you note the heightxwidthxdepth numbers. This isn't a cheap small heater like the 2 dozen at walmart. The heater is much better than others (cheap walmart type) I've used in the past. The ONLY annoying thing was the timer that made a noticeable time-bomb type of sound as it counted down. HOWEVER, after close examination I noticed that there is a setting that doesn't use the timer, that also rids the user of that annoying tick. So, that detractor is gone.

Another reviewer noted that it was loud and shaky on hardwood. I disagree 100%. I'm using it on hardwood, and get no vibrations at all. The only thing I hear is the white noise of the heater working. And its no louder or quieter than what I expect from any portable heater.

This is a very decent header. The housing is big relative to the heating element. I got this unit at a very good price because it was featured in a Friday sale. The only complaint is the control; it is not intuitive or it is unnecessarily complicated. Normally, one would not need to consult the manual to understand the control for a simple heater.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi MCH710T Multi-Position Ceramic Heater

I bought this heater during the Friday deal. For that price this heater is great value and a real bargain. It seems well made and has decent features. I have used it both in the tower and horizontal configuration and it provides heat quickly feels real nice when you enter a freezing room. I am ordering a second one since we were taking it all over the house. The controls are easy to use once you get used to it. I had to refer to the manual a couple of times to understand what the various symbols on the dial meant but it was no big deal.

I bought this heater on a Friday sale so I got a good price on it. I was looking for a small heater to warm a bathroom during Illinois winters and this has fit the bill. The heat output is great for the small room, it heats up in about 2 mins and needs to be turned down after 10 mins. The controls are not the best as mentioned in other reviews the "on" dial is like a kitchen timer that ticks all the time. But for the hour I need it in the mornings, it works really well.

So far we like it. The verdict is out on the heat capability since its still summer.

Its much quieter than our new Frigidaire window air conditioner(FRA086AT7). Wish I had purchased

a 2nd Haier rather than the Frigidaire.

I wish both units had a foot longer power cords. They are 5 and 6 foot in length.

Just recieved the unit today. Installing the top bar on it was odd, and more difficult than it needed to be, the screws didn't seem to grip to the main unit. Otherwise installation was easy. When you look through the louvers you can see light through the back of the unit, which doesn't seem right to me. And you can see the styrofoam that lines the unit quite well both through the louvers and through the back. So thats where they saved some $$. With the styrofoam exposed like that I don't think I'd leave the unit in the window to brave a New York winter. It also doesn't appear to be airtight. It does get the room cool. The fan speeds are high, higher and blastoff. Not really a 'low' option, and its not quiet but I like white noise when I sleep anyway.

My next unit will have to have a remote though, and a digital temperature guage which this does not have. But that's for a richer time and a better economy. Until then, this one will work fine.

I chose this particular model because it did not have all the fancies. Who needs another remote?? I live in a cottage with large rooms and very high ceilings. I just put this unit in the window, and I am a 60 y.o woman with a bad back and yes, I put it in alone! Naturally, I am sweating because I JUST put it in the window. I am in the back of my house and I feel it already way back here! It has only been operating maybe 10 minutes. In the reviews from others, some said this unit is noisy. I hear it but would hardly call it noisy. This is an outstanding buy! I was a little worried about ordering an item like this online and once again Amazon came through like a champ. Item was delivered in 2 business days. I let it sit at the door for a week waiting for someone to put it in for me. Yesterday's 85 degree temp made me give it a shot. I am proud of me! I made a good purchase and installation was a snap! Thanks Amazon, love you much!

This is a great little air conditioner for the price. The only thing I wish it had is a thermostat to regulate the temperature. You must continually turn it on and off by hand to keep the room at the right temp. It does a great job though.

Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA082AT7 8,000 BTU Window-Mounted Compact Room Air

With my narrow home office double window, I was delighted to find an appliance small enough to fit one of the windows and make it possible to work at my computer nonstop. It cools quietly and efficiently.

I originally wrote a good review for this. After a couple of weeks, I am writing another one.

It is noisy, the compressor sounds like someone fired a gun next door when it kicks in and it seems like it is always kicking in or out. I am going to return this one if possible, if not I will sell it to someone I don't like. The fan is noisier on low than my GE's from home depot are on high. If you like the price, and don't mind noise buy this one. It also does not have a remote, I should have read closer and the temp. control is touchy, hot, move it a little and freeze. Nothing good to say. I just ordered a sharp 8,000 for around $30 more and it has energy saver, timer and remote. I buy a LOT from Amazon and this is the second item I have not liked and both were my fault for being a cheapskate. Amazon is wonderful and anyone that has shopped on line knows that for sure. Not Amazons fault, but they will probably send me a label to ship it back and it won't cost me a dime. They are always within a buck or two if they don't beat the competition straight up and the free shipping is free both ways if you buy from Amazon. Love Amazon.

Next day comment.

I called Amazon and told them about the problems with this product and that it was past the time window for return. They said "no problem" and sent me a prepaid mailing label. I also asked if it was OK to wait until the new one I ordered last night got here and got the same answer. I checked and the new one I ordered last night is already shipped. Love Amazon.

UPDATE

Less than two weeks after returning the prepaid package I got confirmation today that my credit card has been credited with the total amount of my order. My new AC is working great and Amazon has come through again. This is still a lousy product, but that is the great thing about Amazon, if you make a mistake the make it better.

I think the fireplace looks much better in person than the in the picture. It arrived well packaged and with no cosmetic blemishes. It was assembled, minus the feet. The hardest part was getting it out of the box, but it was well protected. They included a touch-up marker. The fire looks quite good and provides a pleasant ambiance, but of course it's not going to match a real fireplace. I didn't find it to be overly noisy. It heats up immediately and outputs a significant amount of heat, but I haven't run it long enough to know if it will actually warm up a room. Overall, very pleased with the product and seller.

Nice Item, East setup. It was a little beat up but they did supply the touch up kit. I expected perfect for the price.

I just got my fireplace today and I am very happy. It was securely packaged to prevent damage on delivery. All I had to do was unpack, secure the legs and turn it on. They even included batteries for the remote control. This was a pleasant purchasing experience. :)

Cheap Canvas Log Carrier

I'm happy to have found this log carrier. It's not too large nor too small. I'd seen numerous polyester or plasticky carriers but I wanted something more flexible so that it would lie flat when not filled. It seems highly durable and the end caps are just enough to keep all those little pieces from falling out.

Our old carrier was worn out & wasn't as well made as this new one. It is sturdy & protects against bits of bark falling from the sides

Best Deals on Canvas Log Carrier

We have heated with wood for the last 30 years and our most loved log carrier finally gave out, It was 44 inches from handle to handle and I ws looking for one to replace it but almost all of them seemed to be considerably smaller. I don't think we could have carried more than 3 good sized logs in them so that meant more frequent trips to get wood which did not excite me. Then I found this log carrier and am so glad that I did. It is good sized and seems sturdy. It holds just as much wood as our old one and the enclosed sides are an added bonus. Now I wonder why we didn;t think to replace our old log carrier sooner. In this instance, newer is better.

There are 2 fan speed settings, but there is no shut-off when it reaches the desired humidity level. Also, there are handles on the top and bottom of the water container, but they are in terrible places. The handle on the bottom is on the front, but it is tallest on the back. This makes it lean so much that you can't fill the tank fully while holding it just by this handle. Since it tapers toward the top, it will fall over if you just turn it upside down. The handle on the top is also at an edge, so the tank leans and tries to slide out of your hand. Since the tank is smaller at the top than the bottom, it is hard to tell how much of the water it has used. On the bright side, the cap at the bottom is large enough to refill from a bathtub.

They put in a slide adjustment at the base that is for longer run times. This just opens vents in the bottom center so air can go through the bottom out the fan without passing over the wick. This is a silly feature, just turn the fan down to low or turn it off sometimes. Make sure the slider is at the low side of the bar (left) which makes it put out the most humidity.
