The Dimplex Lincoln Bronze Feestanding Electric Stove is really nice. It shipped on time, no assembly required, no problems. Just plugged it in and turned it on. I love the bronze color. It does produce a warm heat for a small room, as advertised. Ours is outside on an enclosed porch. We are in Florida and on a cool night (50 degrees) it helps get the chill out of the air. I especially like the sturdiness and the realistic flames. The door opens and it looks real but is cool to the touch ... good for our granddaughter. Also, a plus, is you can choose heat or no heat with the flame. We got it on sale for $150 and the shipping was an additional $65. Still, it is hundreds less than at our local hardware store ...$400+. We have no complaints. As a matter of fact, I was looking to buy another one because my mother and father fell in love with it over the holidays, but it is now over $220 on amazon ... plus shipping. So, I am shopping around or waiting for this to go on sale again. Only one suggestion ... measure your area and look at the size of this. It is not big. I was hoping for a larger unit and just didn't take time to look carefully at the dimensions.

Honest reviews on Dimplex North America DS5629BR Traditional Electric Stove, Bronze

We bought this stove for supplemental heat in our sun room. It is a nice looking stove, and it worked fine for about 2 weeks. Then it stopped generating heat. The owners manual states that if the unit overheats, it will shut down, and to reset the stove by turning it off for 5 minutes and turn it back on. If the problem persists, call Dimplex Customer Service. I don't see how it could have overheated, but I tried that and it didn't work.

The problem is Customer Service is only open 8:00 to 4:30 EST, Monday thru Friday, and when you call you get put on hold for the "next available technical service representative". I was on hold for over an hour twice and never got closer than caller number 11. The number went down by one about every 10 minutes. So either no one is answering the phone and the number went down as others in front of me gave up, or they are woefully understaffed.

I understand that problems happen. That's okay if the company stands behind their product and makes it right. It's obvious that customer service is not a priority at Dimplex. If that's important to you, I would not recommend buying any Dimplex product.

208/240v Electric Heater

Step 1: I wanted to work comfortably in an attached 22 x 22 (9 foot high drywalled ceiling) garage in the winter. Figuring I'd need lots of heat, I bought a portable 40,000 btu propane heater. It exhausts lots of carbon monoxide, so you have to partially open a door or window to the outside to let [cold] fresh air in -which seriously lowers heater efficiency. The heater warmed the garage, but the approach wasn't satisfactory -i.e., the fumes were so bad, I stopped using it. It was also very loud, like the hissing of escaping air from a large air boat; plus, when the propane tank ran out, the heater stopped; each time you needed heat, you had to drag it out, connect it to the tank, leave plenty of floor space around this self-contained-blowtorch; put it all away when you were done; and of course find a place to store it. Also, there was no thermostat. All in all, a royal pain in the keister. (Google search on: "propane heater carbon monoxide" to read about the serious risk of carbon monoxide from propane heaters.)

Step 2: I bought one of these electric heaters. It has only half the btu's of the propane unit, but there is no need to open a window or door for ventilation. It also has a thermostat, so you can set it (to a number, not a temperature), and come back 30 minutes later and be in relative comfort. On days in the low 30s, it will keep the garage in the 60s, which is fine for working.. (My attached garage ceiling and 2 walls are insulated.) My heater is mounted high up on a wall, but it can also be mounted to hang from the ceiling, as long as the clearances laid out in the instructions, are followed. In any case, once mounted, it is out of the way, and always ready. There's nothing to haul out or set up when you need heat -just turn it on. When done, just turn it off. This heater needs a dedicated 30-amp 220-volt circuit. You wouldn't want to use this every day, due to electricity costs, but for occasional use, it is perfect.

My advice is to skip step 1.

Note: As of this writing, Amazon sells this heater under several names:

Fahrenheat Ceiling-Mount Automatic 5000 Watt Electric Heater, Model# FUH5-4

Fahrenheat/Marley FUH54 Suspended Electric Heater

Dayton G73 Electric Garage Heater

Multi-Watt Horizontal Downflow Unit Heater With Thermostat 208/240v

These are all the same heater; it is manufactured by Marley Engineered Products of Bennettsville, South Carolina.

We are enjoying every minute of the warmth and beauty of this great heater!

We only hear our furnace kick on once per day which will reflect a great savings on our power bill.

I looked up the cost of using infrared heat and WOW it is very easy to estimate using my current kilowatt hour charge

to only cost us $42 if we were to use this 8 hours per day for a full month!

I recently built a new backyard workshop and needed an A/C unit for the Texas heat. I could have just put in a window unit; but, I wanted something that was more efficient, quieter, and that didn't block my single window.

After some research, I opted to go with this Klimaire unit since it had the features I was looking for and is also geared more toward installing it yourself than the competing models are.

Anyway, here are the things I like about the Klimaire Mini-Split:

1) It really was pretty easy to install. I'll talk about this more in a bit; but, there are several videos online and the unit comes with pretty much everything you need.

2) It has A/C, Heat, dehumidifier, and fan settings. That covers pretty much anything I could want.

3) It is EXTREMELY quiet! Both the inside and outside units are barely audible, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.

4) The remote can be mounted to a wall and works great.

5) It is very efficient at 19 SEER. This shouldn't cost much to run at all.

6) It looks great and is very simple to operate.

Even though I am loving the unit overall, there is one irritating problem that I've run into. When the unit is on A/C mode, the fan will switch between levels 1, 2, & 3 it never turns completely off. That makes me feel bad leaving it on when I'm not out there (the building is extremely well insulated using foam). The dehumidifier setting does the same thing.

Fortunately, the Auto mode lets the fan turn completely off; but, it tries to keep the temperature in the room at an 'exact' level. So, in the summer, if you have the unit set at 78 degrees, it will run the A/C until the building cools down and can actually switch to the heater if the temp goes just a little low. It's crazy to be wasting energy running the heater in the Texas heat! The auto mode would be MUCH better if it would focus on a range rather than an exact temp. For example, if the A/C would turn on when the temp gets above 78, but the heater turns on when the temp gets below 65.

Anyway, that's something I can live with but it's still irritating.

As far as the install goes, the hardest part was running the electrical out to the building in the first place. I'd never done anything with 220 volt before, so it was a learning experience and took me a couple of days. Although, to be fair, I had to run electrical out there anyway. This unit requires a 220 volt, 30-Amp power supply.

Once the power was connected from my new sub-panel to the A/C disconnect, I basically followed these steps:

1) Put a couple of 18"x18" concrete pavers where I wanted the exterior unit and bolted it down.

2) Mounted the bracket for the interior unit to the wall.

3) Drilled a 3" hole in the wall where I wanted the pipes to go through. NOTE: The instructions call for a 3" hole, but I actually wish I had gone a bit smaller. Be sure to look at the conduit they provide for going through the wall, since that is actually closer to 2". I ended up filling around the conduit with Great Stuff gap filler.

4) Wired the provided electrical cable to the inside unit.

5) Ran both copper pipes, the drain pipe, and the electrical wire out of the building through the hole that was drilled in step #3.

6) Hooked everything up to the exterior unit.

7) Wired the exterior unit to the A/C disconnect using wire that I had leftover from wiring the building. I ran the wire through some 1/2" LiquidTite flexible conduit that I also had leftover, and that I had purchased from Home Depot.

8) I opened the lower valve and briefly pressed the discharge button on the upper valve 4 times to get the air out of the system. This process is shown on some of the online videos.)

9) At this point, I just wrapped up the pipes, made everything look good, and turned it on. :)

Overall, if you're looking for a highly efficient, and quiet A/C & heater solution this is a great choice! I would definitely recommend it, even with the irriating "Auto-Mode" issue.

Hey, Guys. I bought two units, the KSIM009-H219 and the KSIM018-H217. Research led me directly to the Klimaire distributor in Miami (I'm in Jacksonville) where they responded to my call for info. I bought directly from the dist where they cut me a break on the shipping for the two. Ordered on Thursday, they shipped on Monday SAIA freight and arrived in Jacksonville the next day where I picked them up at the terminal. Packaging was spot on, no issues.

Installed myself, but I'm no stranger to mechanical stuff. I think an installation of this sort for a newbie would be a challenge since there's so many disciplines involved. The biggest challenge is working with the supplied lineset and making sure you don't damage it or run short since you don't want to modify the length. Careful planning always pays off here. After the typical hookup, I vacuumed the lines for about two hours on both units, opened the liquid line a bit to charge the vacuumed lines and evap up to atmospheric pressure, opened both packing valves and buttoned everything up.

At this point checked for leaks with a leak detector solution and found I had leaks on three out of four connections. Some serious tightening solved those problems and I'd say that was the most surprising, it takes more than you'd think it would. I worked with a plumber for several years as a young pup and the answer to "how tight should this be?" was "till it stops leaking."

After flipping the breaker on the disconnects I started each system and have simply been amazed at how quiet and seemingly efficient these units are. I think you could run them both on power from a hamster in a wheel. Matter of fact, I did connect both of these units to my gen-set so we'll have cooling in those two rooms when the storm hits. Less than 4 amps on the small unit and 7 on the large unit. Amazing.

My thoughts on reviews. Anyone that is considering making a large purchase such as these will do some research and inevitably run across negative reviews and there are those here as well. But, any company that is putting forth the effort to bring items like this to market is not doing it to fail. Sure there are issues and problems that can and do arise, but that's from any company, with any product. More often than not problems stem from a language barrier, and this is where patience, compassion and persistence will help solve most problems. If you're looking for trouble, you'll probably find it. Those with a bad experience will rush to warn while those with a good experience will simply enjoy and move on so one needs to see all reviews in that context.

Of course most AC guys in the states hate messing with something they did not sell you, or something they are not familiar with. Most everyone is biased in one way or another. Knowing that and wanting to learn something new can make a project such as this rewarding if you do it yourself. Of course it's all at risk, and they'll be no shortage of people with a God complex to warn you of that fact.

All in all, I'd say that if you're a good car mechanic and know your way around the construction of a house and have an understanding of home wiring beyond the basics, you'll be happy.

Of course, mine could fail tomorrow.

Feel free to write me with any questions and I'll try to help.

All the best, Don

This unit worked great for 2 months and then problem after problem. This is made by klimaire and the air stopped blowing and then problems with remote...NOW ITS DEAD. Honest reviews on Klimaire 9,000 Btu 19 SEER, Energy Satar, Ductless Mini Split

I, like one of the other reviewers installed it in a workshop that I built in Texas. I have installed central air in the past, but it has been quite a few years. The biggest issue that I had was that the directions could have been worded better. I recommend that if you choose to install it yourself, watch a few installation videos on-line. This helps clarify a few issues that I came across with their directions. They do not have to be the same brand to understand the concept. There is an LG split system video (tips and how to) on You-Tube.

I found a discrepancy in the breaker size in the directions and the outside unit. I went with the 20 amp breaker stated on the actual unit, not the generic directions.

I did have to go out and purchase a vacuum pump, a set of gauges and an adapter for the gauges to hook up to the 410a refrigerant line. This required adapter is not included. Some people choose not to do this step and just purge it. I can't see how the moisture can be eliminated from the line set by skipping this step.

I put a kink in the low pressure line and decided to cut the section out and silver solder it.

Buy a bottle of leak detector from Home Depot or Lowe's to check the fittings. I really had to tighten down on the factory flair fittings to eliminate two almost undetectable leaks (so tight that I was afraid of breaking the line).

I did not change the length of the line set during the installation. This way I did not have to add or eliminate any of the refrigerant.

So far it is working great.

Bought this unit thinking it would safe me some money. However, I had to get an electrician to install a new circuit breaker box since the old 100amp circuit breaker could not support my home and this unit. 7000 dollars later this unit was turned on, the fan started blowing, but the compressor on the outside unit failed to initialize in either heat or cold. A few minutes later, the indoor unit displayed an E1 code. After a day and a half spent by the repairman, it was determined that the PBC unit on the interior unit or the motherboard on the outside unit was not functioning. One can only imagine how discouraged I was after spending so much money just to end up back a ground zero. I have notified the Heat and Cold Company through Amazon and I am still waiting on a response. Word of advice: Get the AC unit through a local reputable company to avoid this hassle. More to follow.

Discount Bed Fan

Bed Fan
Customer Ratings: 4.5 stars

Up until now, hot flashes from menopause have been disrupting my sleep for weeks. My only way to cope has been to crank the thermostat down to 70 degrees at night (wasting energy to cool the entire house), and set up a fan next to the bed to blow directly on me. Even so, I'd wake up several times a night, fling off the covers, cool off, then get too cold, and pull the covers back over my head. The annoyance and sleep deprivation made me desperate enough to spend $80 on a solution, and I'm glad I did.

The Bed Fan took me about 5 minutes to set up, and worked great from the very start. I started out with the unit turned to a medium-intensity setting, and soon discovered that I could turn it down to a very low setting and stay plenty cool. The fan is blissfully quiet compared to the room fan I'd been using, and I appreciate not having to supercool the bedroom. There's enough clearance under the top sheet (where the fan frame holds up the sheet at the foot of the bed) to allow me to turn over, move around, get in and out of bed without the sheet coming undone. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it does seem rather overpriced, especially given the less-than-substantial feel of the plastic.

While the idea behind this product is a very good one (get air moving under the sheets for hot sleepers), they didn't quite nail it down.

For starters in order for this to work as advertised you have lay still while you sleep, in my case I'm a very active sleeper, this sometimes causes the sheets to come undone near where the bedfan sits, blowing the sheets off my lower body and at this point might as well just use a ceiling fan, however to prevent this we used a comforter but then that caused a different problem because of the heavier nature of comforters it held down the sheets to the point that no air was moving to my upper body and my feet would get very cold, making me turn off the bedfan.

Also the unit I received had very loud fans, made of mostly ABS plastics and velcro, for the price I'm sure they could've found some better fans, with better CFM and less DCB.

I'd be willing to give this product another try if they ever have a redesigned version.

Best Deals on Bed Fan

Bedfan pulls the heavier, cooler air from under my bed, and routes it under my sheet, keeping me cool, while the higher parts of the room can be warmer.

The manufacturer recommends using a top-sheet, with 400 threads per inch.

The air leaked out of my budget, 200 thread-count sheet, so it would not fully inflate.

If you are warm, it is counter-productive to put a comforter over your top-sheet, which is like donning a parka, because your windbreaker was flapping in the wind.

Instead, make your top-sheet extra-secure, by also using Sheet-Straps4 BED Sheet GRIPPERS garters bedding straps suspenders. These are elastic, with garter-style ends, that you put diagonally under the corners, especially at the foot of your bed, if you tend to have "restless legs."

My feet hang off the end of the bed, so I the Bedfan at the side, about knee-level. I use a Sheet Straps on the opposite side of the Bedfan, helping seal the sheet, holding it firmly against the unit. Duct tape could work, as well, but I don't like its adhesive residue.

If the Bedfan were made of metal, it would have to be stamped and formed, or extruded, which is more expensive to fabricate. The increased weight would add to shipping costs.

The velcro for the Breeze Bar is an excellent idea. This way, the Breeze Bar can give way, when kicked by "restless legs." If it did not, someone would damage their feet, sue the company, and thereby, deprive everyone else access to a great product, if the company were put out of business.

~From included manual:~

To Get The Most Out of Your Bedfan:

Sheets with a low thread count will allow air to pass through at the foot of the bed...

The higher the thread count on the sheets, the tighter the weave...

With a loose weave the air will exit from between your sheets, very early and never make it to your upper body. We recommend a thread count of 400 or better.

When you have the full effect of the Bedfan, thanks to quality sheets, you will not have to turn it up as high, it won't make as much noise, and you will sleep much cooler.

How to use your Bedfan:

When you are lying in bed you should be able to put your big toe under the breeze bar, just to make sure that it is high enough.

If you cannot put your big toe under the breezebar, it is not high enough.

If it is not high enough, it will not put out enough air. You will end up having to run the Bedfan at a much higher speed than is needed.

Honest reviews on Bed Fan

This is just a tentative review as I just received the Bed Fan today. Setup is super easy, it's as simple as plugging it in and adjusting the height of bar that directs airflow. The fan is really quiet until you get close to having it on full-blast. So far it works just as described, however, I have a rather heavy down comforter and I'm not sure the airflow is strong enough to circulate air underneath it. After trying it a night or two I'll write an update. Let's hope it does work because it could be ice cold in my bedroom and I'd still wake up soaked with sweat in the middle of the night!

**Update**

A couple of frustrations have cropped up as I have used The bed fan for a couple of weeks now. First and foremost, it is way too light to remain stable, even with the sheets tucked around it as per the instructions. Pulling the covers up toward my shoulders pulls the fan forward with them and makes the base slide away from the bed. Any further movement from the covers at this point causes the fan to clank against the wooden platform base of my bed. Very annoying! What I plan to do is tape the fan to the bed with some clear box tape. Oh yeah and the little Velcro thing doesn't work on my particular platform bed.

The next annoyance is the noise. Usually the sound of a fan is actually quite soothing to me, even a roaring attic fan somehow lulls me, but the sound of The Bed Fan is quite irritating. The box fan I use in my room is much louder and I find it very pleasant, so the problem is not decibel level of The Bed Fan, it's the sound quality. The only way I can make the comparison is to say that The Bed Fan creates an unpleasant droning hum as opposed to the rushing, white-noise sound of a typical fan. Perhaps I sound picky-unish but in the middle of the night the gravity of these minor annoyances is greatly magnified.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Bed Fan

I have extremely dry eyes in the morning, it can be agony to open them. Any fan, including the ceiling fan, moving air around the room just made it so much worse. So, I got this for my husband who prefers a fan and moving air.

It does take a little fuss and trial and error to get it right, and you do need to use sheets with a fairly high thread count, and hubby says occasionally he needs to wear socks so his feet don't freeze while the rest of him is cooling down.

Otherwise, it works pretty well. Occasionally, I can feel it on my side of the bed, but I've found that throwing a pillow between our feet fixes that. It has cut my morning eye pain in half, and that's worth a lot of fussing to get it set up just right.

Received the product in a timely manner and in good working order. Thanks to other consumer reviews I was able to assemble the unit while avoiding some of the missteps of others. The product works well and extends our comfort into cooler weather.

Very nice, we're enjoying the ability to use our patio this fall. Produces good heat but like others I've seen the warmth decreases significantly as soon as there's any wind. The directions are not very good. Specifically you need to remove the plastic receptacle attached to the base and fill it with sand, then place the brackets that will later hold the propane tank, THEN re-attach the receptacle before beginning assembly where the instructions begin. Only other criticism is my fault, I did not measure the space because I have seen many outdoor heaters and had a reasonable idea what size they are. This unit is taller and wider than others I've seen and barely fits my space.

Make sure you have lots of room for this heater. You will need 50" above, and 50" clearance around the unit as recommended in the instruction manual. This heater is top of the line for the money.

It is easy to light (you do have to tip it and allow the gas to fill the lines before the pilot will stay on. The heat output is easy to set for the temp of the day. I highly recommend this unit. This is the home version of the fountain used by the pros it is the center of any party, is fairly easy to use, and (except for the base) is dishwasher safe. We rented this machine from an events store for the weekend. It was a huge hit, and the machine performed flawlessly. We are so impressed we're planning on buying one (or two) for our next event.

Before bringing it home my wife received a few instructions on it's operation, and a few hints on getting it to flow well. Basically, if it's not level you're going to need to feed it more chocolate to get it to flowing perfectly. This machine comes with leveling screws under its base and it was a breeze to get it level... and our dining room table has a fairly moderate lean to it.

In case you can't see, the unit comes with several buttons. A primary power button, a flow On button, a flow Off button, and four different heat setting buttons: Off/Low/Med/High.

This unit is capable of melting chocolate. The first night we pre-melted the chocolate, but the second night we had an extra 60 minute prep time so we just placed the chocolate on the dish and turned the heating unit on High. We couldn't tell a difference in taste at all. In the future we'll probably pre-melt it cause it's faster overall.

We used the Sephra brand milk chocolate bags. To be fair these are found for about double the price of the raw ingredients you could make yourself, but in my opinion oh-so-worth-it. From what my wife was told Sephra uses coconut oil as the primary base so that it melts consistently and at a lower temperature. If you want children dipping into hot chocolate you'll appreciate the lower melting point of the coconut oil, and the 'Low' setting of this unit. In the future we're going to play around with adding additional ingredients like peanut butter, spices, and flavorings.

The machine ran for about 5 hours consecutively without any sort of hickup. Near the end of the night instead of adding more chocolate I let it run with a bit of a 'step' to the flow.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:

1) If the chocolate hasn't settled then continue to step 2. If you're cleaning it the next day then just turn the heating unit on High and wait about 45-90 minutes (depending on the chocolate you've used) and then run it for a few minutes to finish melting the chocolate on the tiers.

2) Unplug the machine. Disassemble the tier set and after a quick rinse you can put the three different platters in the dishwasher on the top rack. Or hand wash, it's easy either way.

3) Remove the funnel and hand wash. Use hot soapy water and the chocolate comes right out. (Perhaps another selling point to the coconut oil based chocolate)

4) Use a damp rag to clean the surface of unit base.

I had a heater very like this one and by the same company. When it wore out from many years of use I needed to replace it .Then fancy looking ones at the stores did not heat welland I couldn'tfind one like this until Ichecked Amazon and found it.Works just right as a suplimental heater in my living/dining room area and it's small enough to look ok. So glad to have found it .

This fireplace is quite nice and with some patience can be put together nicely. The flame is realistic and the heater puts forth adequate heat when needed. There was some damage on one corner which I just covered with a sharpie and can hardly be noticed. It looks lovely and creates a pleasant ambiance.

This piece is very beautiful. At first I was disappointed because when my husband put together, several pieces were dented. It was time consuming to put together and there was no way we could get it back in the box it came in. The company was very understanding and sent replacement of the damaged pieces. This time it seemed to be package very secure and there was just a minor dent in the corner. overall, I am satisfied with the piece. It has a lot of storage, fireplace/heater works and looks good, functions well as TV stand.
