So my first thoughts when I saw these things being advertised was...Who is Twin Star, It's not a EdenPure, it's made in China, it'll probably break down quickly, I wonder if it even heats like it says it does. I had been seriously debating buying a EdenPure but was holding off because of the price and hoping I could convince someone to get me one for christmas. I my co-worker told me that Costco was selling EdenPure heaters for $200 but when I double checked it was these things for $150 at Sams, I was cautious because when I spend over $100 on something I want to know it works and that it is of high quality. But I took the risk anyway and bought a 2 year extended warranty to go with it. So first night, I take it home and turn my central heat off, go down to my uncarpeted (but insulated) basement. It only got down to 50 degrees but that's still pretty chilly in a basement. if it didn't show me something I was taking it back tomorrow. I turned it on, gave it an hour and guess what...it started working well, the basement was WARM (I even broke a sweat under the covers), I was shocked. I went upstairs and it was way cooler than MY BASEMENT. It came with a neat little remote control that works for people like myself that get warm and lazy and don't want to get up in the middle of the night to adjust the heater. My fiance's father has an actual EdenPure that he uses in his basement and it works, I must say that in my opinion this heater matched the EdenPure's performance. I expected it to fail but it didn't. I got this for $150 plus $20 for the protection plan, the average price I saw on the EdenPure is $400. Glad I kept that extra $200+ in my pocket. Now here's where I knock on wood, at the time I am writing this I have only had this heater for a few days. I'm from St. Louis Missouri, so I have no idea how this thing will hold up during the coldest of winter months but if it's performance is anything less than what it has been, or if this thing breaks down, I will update this review.

More on the performance: It's very quiet which I like, gives off a cool glowing effect but isn't too bright. but the BEST THING ABOUT THIS HEATER IS...it does not dry out the air. The biggest problem with conventional combustion heaters especially for me and especially for the winter is that they dry out the air that's already dry from the cold. Using conventional heaters every winter I get nose bleeds from the dry air due to cold and the twice dried air from the heater burning the little water that was in the air away. I had to plug up a humidifier to try and add a little moisture to the air but the results were limited. The infrared technology does not heat in the same way that combustion heaters do so the air doesn't get dried out and I can breathe easy,

In summary it is MY PERSONAL OPINION at this moment that this thing heats as well as a edenpure costs less than half the money and best of all doesn't dry out the air. I can't talk about the durability yet but I hope this thing holds up because I already love it

I bought the Duraflame 10HM8000. It does look nice and have a handy remote. The front grill does not get hot so its good for pets and children. However I found that it could not heat a room larger than a bedroom. I left in on for 3 hours in a 400 sq ft living room and it did not raise the temperature 1 degree. Yet it did work fine in our Master bedroom. It does make some noise but its fairly quiet. The house is in Chicago and was built in 1968 and needs an insulation upgrade. Ultimately since this was too much to spend on a bedroom heater, I returned it and bought a Mica-Thermic panel just for the bedroom.

Ordered this after reading numerous reviews and thought for my application would work. Our house is a 1970's ranch with double paned windows and adequate but not great insulation in walls and ceiling (8 foot ceilings). Purchased this with the intent to heat a family room kitchen area of about 400 sq ft but with open doorways into the rest of the house. Wanted to augment heat pump so set the heat pump temp to 68. Expected this Infrared Heater to warm family room/kitchen area to 74 degrees and set it to that temp. Was never successful in getting the room to that temp. The temp as displayed on the unit would go up to 70 once in a while but after a minute or two drop back to 68 or 69. Understood that the temp reading might be variable in its accuracy but room felt chilly and never did take the chill off even after letting the unit run for several hours. The unit did feel like it was putting out warm air so was perplexed as to why it could never bring the room temp up. But in the end would not achieve the desired results and at this price point felt the only option was to return it. If you are going to try this make sure to buy through Amazon as there were absolutely no issues returning this which from what I've read is not always the case with other vendors of this type of product.

The two stars are for the finish of the cabinet. Very pretty and assembly appeared very solid and of quality.

This unit may work in a closed room environment but with the stated 1000 sq ft capabilities thought it would work much better in a smaller somewhat closed off area.

Honest reviews on Comfort Smart Mighty Oak 1000 Sq Ft Portable Infrared Heater

Not only do you feel warmer, the floors are warm and there are no hot spots anywhere in the room or the house with this new technology for heating. I no longer use my central unit in the house because it is cheaper to operate two of these units to heat my home. I have a third for upstairs but only use it when I need it.

I have two of these units plus one Eden Pure that quite frankly I spent too much money on because this one is equally as strong and good with the results. I got mine from Sam's for less then this one on Amazon but it is the identical company unit they sell.

I tell everyone about this technology and these units. Why spend more on energy than necessary, plus the heat you feel within the room isn't the same at all.

I have owned this stove (5510) for one year. It's installed in my living room, which is in the middle of my house. Last winter, it kept the bulk of my house 65-75, but we had to use space heaters in the bedrooms at night. Last year, we burned 3.5 tons of pellets, for a total operating cost of about $1000 (including space heaters), which is maybe a third of what I spent in past years on propane. General operation and cleaning is easy, but the original igniter went bad after a few months (replaced under warranty). Also, I recently noticed that the glass gasket in the door is in bad shape, so I called the company and they sent out a new one, also under warranty. Customer service has been excellent so far. I am very happy with my purchase.

If the stove would keep working it would be great but it keeps breaking. I bought the stove in August and by December the ignighter was bad. Us Stove did warranty the ignighter once. But now in the second season the ignighter is bad again and also the auger moter is bad. Of course now it's been over a year for the warranty. Since the heating season is about 6 months here in Michigan that is what time you get to operate the unit under the warranty. Us Stove directs you to use their web site for parts but their it says auger moter out of stock for a month. I would not buy a Us Stove again! Look else were for a different brand.

Great stove holds three bags of pellets. The stove has 9 settings, at -30 below zero the stove heated are house just fine. Great stove built well and looks like it will last a long time.

I've had this stove for 2 years now and absolutely regret buying it. I have had SEVERAL ignitors go out. The door and seal are sub-par and had to be replaced. I constantly battle with the settings. It commonly overflows the pot. It's a shame that an american company makes such a shoddy stove. I bought this thinking I could save a few bucks. Apparently with this item, that's not the case. Once it breaks one more time, it's getting pitched. Do a little research on hearth.com if you want to know more. Very few people have a positive thing to say about this brand.

Baby Gaggia Twin

I am on my third Baby Gaggia Twin since February and the third one does seem to be the charm. The first machine had an impotent steamer and was sent back, the second, the steam wand came off entirely. I did notice that happened to another reviewer but went with this machine as it was in my price range and I felt lucky.

The first one was purchased through Essential Espresso (avoid at all costs) who when I called to address the problem were very "We don't want to hear it, talk to the manufacturer" even though their site boasts a 30 day no hassle return. I wish I read the reviews on them before purchase. I won't go into every detail but dealing with them was so unpleasant and they took so long to do anything that I decided that I would get my replacement from BBandBeyond, where I learned they would price-match even with a 300 dollar difference and free shipping!!

So, BBandBeyond gave me a truly hassle free exchange for the second machine and it's faulty steam wand and now I am reasonably happy with the machine. The customer service there is among the best I have experienced.

The steamer takes a little getting used to. You need to purge it of water till the lights flash, turn it off and then back on again, keeping the wand out of your milk until it is up to "full steam" then turn it off again and put it in your milk pitcher. It sounds more painful than it is and all happens in about a minute and change.

Pros: Looks great, seems sturdy, is easy to use and clean, heats up quickly, makes very good espresso

It sounds more painful than it is and all happens in about a minute and change.

Cons: There is a smell from the steam wand, it gets less over time and I am told that running descaler through it will eliminate it. (Why couldn't they do that?) The group head is configured in such a way that you cannot really fill the portafilter full of coffee and have to leave a bit of room at the top. This is a slight bummer for me as I like my morning coffee a nice long pull and with our former machine could get enough coffee for 2 such pulls at one time for both me and the hubby. True, it is no Greek tragedy to pull 2 shots but just not as convenient. If you are pulling for one, there is no problem.

However, Gaggia itself and its U.S. representative, are lacking in customer service in my opinion.

After receiving my third machine, I sent an email asking about a pressurized portafilter for the machine. I also added that it would be nice of them to offer some discount on same taking into to consideration the inconvenience I had been through having 2 defective machines.

Both Importika in the U.S. and Gaggia in Italy totally ignored this. I would not buy from them again for that reason. To me, it would be a no brainer to comp a relatively inexpensive item to compensate for the inconvenience and leave the customer feeling that you value their business and regret the inconvenience. They obviously don't.

It does take away some of the enjoyment of owning it

UPDATE

I no longer own this machine, it started leaking around the grouphead and after replacing the gasket and the filter basket to no avail, I returned it and went with another model. Various forums have given consistently good reviews to the Classic which is not a "snazzy" looking or programmable to your preferred size of shot. So far I am happy with it. You can tell right away that the steamer is better the crema is a litle thicker (probably because whatever was causing the leaking was not providing the proper pressure for "expression" of flavor. We decided to get a grinder also as this machine likes a finer grind than I can get in some places. After a few weeks, I will write a separate review for it but after 3 Baby Twins in 5 months, I can not recommend them from anything but a decorative standpoint.

This is a great espresso machine for home use if you are an espresso lover. However, avoid this machine if you want to make latte or cappuccino. I have had this machine for more than a month now and I have been using it relatively frequently. The foamer works great but the foam always comes out smelly. (like plastic or rubber smell). This problem was also addressed in another review on Amazon.

Overall, Gaggia Baby twin is a very aesthetically pleasing and durable espresso maker. It's very well made and it will last you a life time. However I would avoid this machine just for the fact that you can't make good latte or cappuccino with it.

Update: 1/27/2012

I owned this machine for more than 3 years now and it has been very disappointing. The milk frother broker after 6 months of use. I took the machine to a designated repair center and the center held it for almost a year because they were waiting for Gaggia to ship the necessary parts from Italy. (Worst product experience EVER) I finally requested the repair center to return my machine (still broken) so I can at least use it for just espresso. Now the electric touch pad is broken and the dumb thing is just sitting on my counter-top as a reminder of how crappy Gaggia products are.

Gaggia: Please refund my money!

Best Deals on Gaggia 12500 Baby Twin Espresso Machine with Dual Heating System

i love the espresso this machine puts out but the entire machine is somewhat tainted for me given that the steamer has always smelled and made milk and water taste very very strongly of some kind of oil. at least there are separate espresso and steamer boilers. seriously, think motor oil or bicycle chain oil. ick, it is hard to get the taste and smell of my first few attempts at foaming out of my mouth and nose. i called the company and they suggested a descaling agent which did help, but still for the price for goodness sake it would be nice to have that taken care of at the factory.

Honest reviews on Gaggia 12500 Baby Twin Espresso Machine with Dual Heating System

I needed upgrade for my cheap Gaggia Pure and I needed to pick from this model and Gaggia Baby Class D. Sorry to say I bought Twin. 99% of coffees in our house is a cappuccino and I thought additional dedicated thermo-unit would make our living easier and save us some "waiting for a steam" time. I was stupid...

The point is that though there is second "boiler" indeed it is too weak to make proper milk froth for two cappuccinos in 650 ml jug (one portion of milk in 350 ml jug is okay). It's power isn't enough to whirl the milk which is absolutely needed to "stretch" the milk. Of course, you can use so called "turbo-frother",the default panarello tip but you will get only that poor bubbly parody instead of pro-like froth.

With any other Gaggia, Baby Class e.g., you could do it with it's single boiler but having your top line Baby Twin you would not.

Cons: pathetic, impotent steamer

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Gaggia 12500 Baby Twin Espresso Machine with Dual Heating System

The Gaggia is a competent, well-made machine. It makes an excellent espresso. The dual heater system works very well. There's no hint of foreign taste/smell from the frothing wand in our unit -something other reviewers have reported.

Things I like:

-It makes an excellent espresso.

-The dose system works well, though it occasionally dispenses an extra 10-20% volume. It's nice not to have to vigilantly watch after you start a pull.

-The dual heaters works very well. If you use the frothing wand regularly, you'll appreciate the machine's ability to consistently deliver two temperatures simultaneously (alternately, actually).

-The frothing wand works very well with regular, skim, even soy milk. The swivel functionality is excellent.

-The boiler heats water faster than I can pull espresso shots.

-The drip tray is easy to service.

-The unit looks great.

Things I don't like so much:

-Price. For the money, I think the Gaggia Baby Classic delivers more bang for the buck than the Baby Twin. The dual heater and dose system are nice, but don't justify a 50% price increase. On the other hand, if you regularly make cappuccinos for twelve people at a time, the Baby Twin is worth every penny.

-The water tank isn't big enough, and maddeningly, Gaggia drills the overflow hole nearly an inch lower than it needs to be.

-When first turned on, the 'water heater' indicator on the front panel indicates it's ready to go after only a couple of minutes. It's not. The water's hot, but the brew-head isn't and you'll end up with a luke-warm espresso. You need to wait the 6-10 minutes that Gaggia suggests. They ought to change the indicator to reflect both the water and head temperatures.

-Gaggia should knurl the compression ring on the frothing wand (it's smooth). The wand does tend to come loose if you don't tighten the ring thoroughly. I can develop the finger pressure to do it; my wife cannot. A rubber pad helps. Knurling would be better. Gaggia ought to fix it.

-The Baby Twin uses capacitive switches for the four selector buttons, and they're too sensitive, in my opinion. They tend to trigger when my finger is still an 1/4" away, which leads to occasionally "pushing" the wrong button (not that big a deal -a second push cancels the operation).

-The frothing wand leaks a few drops of water now and then.

My wife and I are not espresso purists, but we enjoy a good espresso. We used a Capresso Ultima (also from Amazon) for nearly a decade. It had its own foibles (difficult to clean well), but frankly, it's crema was superior to what we can achieve with the Gaggia. The Gaggia leaves me with the impression that it can make a really, really great espresso if I'm willing to invest the time and effort in perfecting my barista skills. Like Ferrari, Gaggia seems to be all about performance, and there's nothing wrong with that. We just want a good espresso without too much fuss.

This, along with my commercial Bunn Coffee Grinder, is my favorite indulgence. I have owned a Bunn designed for home use for 20 years and I finally took the plunge and bought this one. Bunn is the industry standard and for good reason. Every aspect of this brewer is quality.

Bunns work differently than most home drip machines in that they have a water reservoir that holds about 2 1/2 "loads" of water at any one time that is constantly kept at brewing temperature the machine is "on" all the time. This is what allows you to brew a pot of coffee instantly. No waiting for the water to heat up. The switches on the front are for the warming plates, which I don't use. I prefer to transfer the hot brewed coffee to an air pot so it doesn't get bitter but still stays hot. This particular model doesn't need to be plumbed. You just pour the correct amount of water from the supplied pitcher into the top of the machine hence the name "Pour-o-matic". It makes 12 cups of perfectly brewed coffee in a couple of minutes. Making morning coffee is such a pleasure now. I may be a rotten cook, but I can serve up a fine cup of coffee with my Bunn!

The stainless steel case is thick, sturdy and designed for easy cleaning. I live in a hard water area where mineral deposits clog up coffee brewers overnight but this is designed to make it easy to keep it running freely. Even the spray head is stainless and is easy to unscrew and rinse out daily. That also gives you access to the water delivery tubing which you just ream out with the supplied flexible spring rod (called the de-liming tool). It's very quiet when heating up the water a big thing if you've ever had a different brand of commercial brewer.

If you can't live without your brewed coffee and you can afford this pricey indulgence, you'll never regret buying a Bunn.

... and that is make coffee, but it does it damned well.

I am not going to tell you the specifics of how a Bunn makes coffee; the previous reviewer did it very well and if you have ever eaten in a restaurant, doughnut shoppe, or coffee shop you have probably seen one.

I use the VP 17 in my home. You may ask why since this is really intended for commercial use. Well I have owned this unit for nearly four years without a hiccup. Grind the beans, pour the pre-measured amount of filtered (I made a mark with a permanent marker on the water jug) water and viola the same identically made cup of coffee day after day in less than two minutes!!!

I mean I am drinking coffee in less time than most makers are just thinking about heating the water, and it is the same cup day after day after day. No surprises.

It does cost more than your usual home unit, but this thing is built like a Sherman Tank and if you actually needed it could produce enough coffee to take care of a small army. Four gallons an hour can you imagine how long (like maybe days) it would take your average home coffee maker to brew that much coffee.

Like the other reviewer stated it is an extravagance but if you want to quickly and reliably brew your morning coffee it is a neat way to do it.

To sum it up a friend asked does it really make better coffee to which I replied not only that but it looks damn COOL doing it. Makes a neat statement in addition to a great cup of joe.

P.S. I do home roast my beans and burr grind fresh every pot and man you have no idea how good a cup of coffee can taste. I know probably need to get a life....but hey sometimes simple is good.

This machine starts brewing coffee as soon as you pour water in. The switches are only for turning the warmers on or off. I appreciate the simplicity, no water hook-up and no plastic hot water dispenser hanging off the front of the machine.

Just received this heater. It is much larger than I expected. When I turned it on it was literally like having the sun lighting up the room, even on the low setting. At the high setting, the light is so brilliant I needed to shade my eyes. It puts out so much bright light there would be no way to have this on while trying to sleep and it interferes with my preference to have the room darkened for film viewing. That said, it IS very warming to the body and does so very quickly, so I will be using it selectively. The Comfort Zone brand FIR heater would be a better choice for heating a room or multiple rooms.

I enjoy the heat and do not mind the light. This is Minnesota and the light is psychologically welcome. This heater lets me turn down the heat to the rest of the house if I am going to be in one spot for awhile. I specifically wanted the far-infrared heat.

Best Deals on Evergain Far Infrared FIR Heater

This heater was great while it lasted, after about two months it started smelling like burnt plastic every time we turned it on. Then the heating element burned out. This was not a particularly cold winter in NY so hadn't even used it very often, maybe a few times a week. Very, very disappointing. For a heater costing well over $100 it should not stop working within a couple of months. I am appalled by the poor quality and the amazon return policy was only 30 days! Maybe I should start an amazon business selling shoddy merchandise that doesn't break til 30 days. I can make a killing ripping off poor honest people, never again!

Honest reviews on Evergain Far Infrared FIR Heater

This heater is totally awesome for it's far infrared warmth. It is warm and bright like the sun. It doesn't really heat up the space in a room, but lying in front of it makes me feel very toasty and warm in a very therapeutic way. First one I received failed to work after a few weeks, but I returned it and got another one which so far there has been no problem.

This is a nice 3-setting standard oil heater, and it DOES have a tip-over protection feature, unlike many. Doesn't make any expansion noises, though the thermostat cycling could wake up light sleepers (just put it on low or med setting and the unit will operate continuously without having to cycle off). Gets hot to the touch not a safety concern for adults but could be for younger children. Not sure what the other reviewer is referring to regarding the u-bolts. It took a sec to figure out how to attach them but they work just fine and hold the wheel bases on securely. My only quibble is that the wheels are not that great not large enough to roll the unit easily.

These oil-filled radiator-type heaters are a real bargain! (and i don't use that word often, or lightly). These things are definite cost-cutters! I have lowered my electric bill for heating from $90 per month, to a varying degree of $30 TO $40 per month, and the $40 bill occurs only when it's especially cold outside. This item runs on 110 Volt wall socket current (unlike the ELECTRICITY-MUNCHING 220 Volt unit in the ceiling, which is actually the A/C unit being used as a heat pump, which is NOT it's intended use, even though it can perform that function, but is SO INEFFICIENT while doing so). I use one of these to keep an entire 800 square foot, 1 bedroom apartment warm-as-needed in the winter, at over 4,000 feet in elevation in northern Arizona. Granted, we don't have winters here like back in my state of origin, Wisconsin. But, when it does get cold here, all i do is crank this baby up to 3/4's of maximum to warm it up, and then lower it to about 50% to maintain the desired temperature, and my electric bill still doesn't reach $50 per month! Quite a break from the old $90 per month! It is NOT recommended that you use a fan with this unit, as blowing air across it messes with the built-in thermostat, but at the coldest times, i do use a small 9 inch fan, set on the lowest speed, either drawing from in front of it, or blowing just over the top of it from behind (you'll find that if you do point a fan directly at it--i did, being me, i had to test it...lol--it will cause so much "SNAPPIN', CRACKLIN' & POPPIN'" that you wouldn't want to continue that VERY noisy way anyway (the internal oil gets cooled too fast as it rises, by the air moving over it from a direct blast from even a small fan, causing it to literally "snap, crackle & pop" when the cooler oil comes back in contact with the hotter oil inside...try it for a few minutes when you get this, you won't hurt it, and you'll see what i mean. It also will snap crackle & pop a bit when it's new out-of-the-box, but this goes away in a few minutes). With a small fan either drawing from the front, from about 2 feet away, or blowing just over the top of it, from about 2 feet behind, you'll have more heat than you know what to do with. And actually, once the room is warmed (and in my case, when all 800 square feet of my 1 bedroom apartment is warmed), it will keep it warm & toasty (sometimes too warm & toasty) all by itself, without any air-flow from a fan. My neighbor, who is our maintenance man at our apartment complex, who lives in a 2 bedroom, 1,250 square foot apartment, introduced me to these on a maintenance call. He uses 2 of these, only because his apartment is a 2 bedroom, with about 55% more square footage than mine. He said he has to be careful not to leave the thermostat set very high, or he "cooks" his family. But, the thing that really got my attention when we talked about these, was that his electric bill went from $120 per month using his A/C unit as a heat pump, to NO MORE THAN $70 per month with two of these, and he said even at the coldest times, he keeps his set at no more than 50%, and uses no fan! Take my word for it folks, if you're looking to save money on your heating bill, whether you have electric-generated heat, or gas-generated heat, or whatever-generated heat, these little helpers WILL save you money! Bank on it! I don't use my heat pump AT ALL anymore! Neither does the maintenance man. And the cost of one unit, for a 1 bedroom apartment, will be recouped in about one month's saving on your electric bill! Same math works for 2 of these units for a 2 bedroom apartment. A great buy! And WAY more efficient than either the ceramic or coil-type forced-air electric heaters. The only thing is, that they don't heat as fast as those other forced-air units, but once they are warmed up, the heat is constant, AND CHEAP!!

The last advice i'll give you is this...BUY THIS IN THE SUMMER MONTHS! I bought mine last July (i waited 'til now to write my review, because i wanted to see exactly how well it performed), because at the time, i paid only $34.99, with FREE Super-Saver shipping, when i bought this in July of 2011! (out of season). During the winter months, when demand for these is up (in season), they go way up in price, but are still worth it at $48.94 (the advertised price as of the time of this review).

Literally, the third time I used it, it gave a visible big spark (it comes with scary electric shortage sound) then died. I think this product can pose fire hazard.

Thinking backward, luckily I was right standing by the heater at the time of incidence (as it was just turned on), so I pulled off the wall plug quickly. Don't know if I was not there what would happen!

I got what I paid for, but certainly not expecting something scary like this.

I end up bought the honeywell type which comes with nice temperature control.

Honest reviews on Optimus H-6010 Portable Oil Filled Radiator Heater

The Heater works well, and its cord is very long so it is quite mobile if limited to certain outlets.

Great heater, not like a regular fan heater but it does pretty well keeping a room warm. Recommend buying it if you need something that requires less wattage.

I have had one of these great little heaters for two years now. I couldn't tell you how many times I have been thankful of my wife for buying me one.I have a 20'X20' shed out side that I use for crafts that my wife won't let me do inside. Untill I recieved this one I used to buy a new electric heater every season in the colder months just to stay warm while I tinkered around. The only drawback to it is that it will not heat you,or a room up immediately (it usually takes some 10-20 minutes)But it will keep the room warm easily and will not burn out quickly or cause a spark like the little glowing fan heaters. All in due case it is good for what I do.

These oil-filled types are completely silent, and they seem to me to be much safer than ceramic or fan-based heaters. Safe enough for pets to be near, even. Value tip! Wal*Mart just marked this model down from $37 to $35. How can you go wrong for $35? I live alone in a big house, so I can turn the heat down to 60 at night and keep the BR toasty with this unit.

My Pelonis Oil-Filled Radiator Heater, Model HO-0221, just began spewing out hot oil today. It was sitting in the middle of my office, right out in the open, more than 3 feet away from the nearest desk or chair. It was not covered, and was not plugged into an extension cord of any kind. Two of us were working in the room, and thankfully the hot oil did not reach us as it was spitting out of the space heater. It left an extremely unpleasant aftermath, including a mess of oil to clean up all over our carpet and a filing cabinet, and a horrible stench that we're trying to air out.

I, under no circumstances, recommend this product. It is unsafe, and honestly before this incident, wasn't even all that effective in my opinion. Beware, and if you do decide to purchase this, DO NOT leave it unattended!!

Why pay more? All you want to do is keep your patio heater from rusting or becoming a critter nest. I have 2 which have been through rain and storm. No problems. Thought they might be flimsy, but they are fine.

We feel like the covers are a good value for the money and so far so good. We have only had them for a few weeks but the covers are doing exactly what we bought them for, to protect the heating elements!

good price. still in one piece after years of use by the beach! love it. kinda thin, but who cares. my heater is rusting faster, this will probably out last it.

Honest reviews on PATIO HEATER COVER

Like everything else that is manufactured, heaters are not made to any kind of standard dimensions. The cover I bought did not fit over my heater as the cover diameter was too small. Between the postage of sending it back along with the stocking fee it would have cost me more money to send it back. So I donated it. If you but one, make sure it will fit.

Outstanding space heater. Much more heat than most other heaters. I think that is because it is just more efficient. . . All the power goes into generating heat, not a motor to oscillate the unit in different directions, like some space heaters. Have used it for several seasons now. No problems. Heats me and the room up very quickly. Sitting in front of it is like sitting in front of a warm and cozy fireplace. Only drawbacks are that it will dry out the room, there is no remote control, and the noise from the fan, while not terribly loud, is enough to keep light sleepers awake at night. I use this one when I want to warm the room up quickly, and then turn it off when I want to sleep, or just use a different model when I want a no-noise no-fan heater for sleeping.

Portable heaters are a mixed bag--they can be incredibly useful and they can start fires. I personally know two elderly women who ran portable heaters continuously at the maximum level . . . until the outlets caught on fire! In most cases, the circuit breaker will trip before this happens, but obviously not in all cases. The biggest trippers of the circuit breakers, where portable heaters are concerned, appear to be those running at high settings of 1000 watts or more. But lower settings under 1000 watts often don't provide enough heat. This Patton has a lower setting (#1) of only 750 watts, and yet feels like a heater running at a 1500 watt setting. Thus, it's an excellent choice for houses that can't handle the higher wattage settings. Although I will never plug any portable heater directly in an outlet any longer, after hearing of outlet fires. I either use a First Alert Fire Shield cord, or an extension cord that can handle 1875 watts. (Using an extension cord that can't handle at least 1875 watts can also cause a fire.) This heater also sells under the brand names of Jarden, Sunbeam and Holmes.

This space heater by Patton does a great job of initially heating up relatively quickly (fifteen minutes or so) and even while it's "warming up" for the very first time it pushes hot air outward into the room you want to heat. True, it doesn't heat larger spaces but on the other hand it's great for heating rooms about the size of my bedroom (120 square feet).

Setup is nothing. Just plug it in and turn the temperature knob (the knob on the right) to one of two settings. I recommend the warmer setting at least initially and then you can lower it after you get the initial blast of heat. As for the other control knob on the left, I turned that all the way up to get the maximum blast of heat. Another plus is that the unit automatically turns off if it tips over or overheats so there doesn't seem to be a fire hazard here.

The heater makes some noise while it's working but it sounds like a fan and some people will definitely like this; that sound actually helps me go to sleep faster at night! If you're a light sleeper, however, this could be a negative.

The only disappointment I have is that the temperature control is just one of two settings; and neither setting is specified by degrees Fahrenheit.

I recommend this space heater by Patton, especially for heating smaller rooms. People who want to heat larger spaces would do well to continue looking for larger and more powerful space heaters.

Honest reviews on Patton PQH307-UM Tower Quartz Heater with Adjustable Thermostat

I used it mostly in the fall and winter time. It worked pretty well. The thing i like most was that it had a automatic cut off, if it ever gets knocked over. I have kids so that was a plus. It heats up pretty quick it doesnt work well in large rooms, but it works more so in bedrooms. I mean dont get me wrong itll heat an entire apartment (600sq ft.) but it wont be toasty just warm enough. I had to retire mine cause the power cord broke off at the very base of the machine. Maybe from being bent to much, not sure. But a good heater. My next one i want it to be more powerful.

I purchased this heater on the recommendation of my wife, who was using it while waitinf for a new furnace to be installed. And my wife said it keep two large rooms warm. I ordered it for myself, and WOW. This heater is worth the money. Even my dog loves it. It has quartz heating, and a fan to blow out hot air. So it really heats a good size room very quickly. The heater starts heating right away, and the heat is going full blast in about 2 minutes. It works very efficiently, and I usually use it on the low setting. The heater is light weight and easy to move around. I will be purchasing another one, because it just works so well. At such an affordable price. This heater can be summed up in just one simple word "awesome".

I've had this heater as the only heat source in my 10X15 ft. office through two Florida winters. It puts out plenty of heat on "low," and is so quiet that I don't know whether it's on or off without looking. The only problem, sadly a big one, is that the thermostat only sets in 5 degree increments and allows too much heat variation before it turns on, so I'm always a little too hot or too cold. I'm thinking of replacing it with one of the competing Lasko ceramic heaters. A friend has one, and it seems to be just as quiet and efficient as the Holmes, but does a better job of maintaining a stable temperature. I have waited and waited for Holmes to come out with a ceramic heater just like this one but with a better thermostat, but I guess this isn't going to happen. Oh, well.

Holmes makes an excellent compact and portable ceramic space heater that really gives off a lot of heat than my older one does! Moreover, the unit is very lightweight and easy to carry although of course I wouldn't carry it while it's working or just after it's been shut off.

The heater is reasonably priced as of the time I am writing this and I sure hope that Holmes continues to make these; I would like to get one for my father. The unit is completely quiet--in fact it's so quiet that you'll never know that it's there unless you see it. It rapidly provides a good amount of heat to areas like bedrooms and offices.

This heater by Holmes is best used for spaces that are roughly 100 square feet or slightly more; I wouldn't depend on it to heat several rooms or a combination living room/dining room all at once. For that you'll either need more than one of these space heaters or you'll have to use this unit along with your central heat or oil heat, whatever you have.

I also like that the unit turns itself off automatically of it should accidentally tip over. That's good protection against fire or ugly marks on your carpeting that could be tough to remove.

If you look at the fourth picture of the unit at the top of this page, you can see for yourself the way you can control the temperature. You get "on" and "off" buttons; and there are five specific temperatures from which to choose. You can adjust the temperature a bit more simply by pushing the "hi" and "lo" buttons. Great!

Again, this is one awesome space heater that's more than worth the current price. I highly recommend it.

I just ordered two more of these units. We've been using them for the last five years or so and love them! We need more because we keep giving them away to our kids, who ask for them specifically. They run quieter and put out more heat (double ceramic heater) than any other fan driven area heater we've ever used. We also love the thermostat features and tip-over shut off. I don't think Holmes is making this model any more and it's a shame. I thought I better get a few more while I can.

Honest reviews on Holmes HCH4953-U Ultra-Quiet Dual Ceramic Heater with 1-Touch

I have to say I've enjoyed my unit. It's the only heat I've had in my large north-east exposure, 2nd floor bedroom over a 2-car garage and still kept it toasty warm. We've had cold weather much more snow than we've ever had at one time and it's been a great little heater. I doubt the thermostat is correct ... I just adjust it up or down as needed. So glad I got it. The 2 Laskos I had were very loud and ineffective. They stopped after only a couple of weeks and not during our coldest weather. This has been very quiet and I really like it. I bought mine from Amazon, and now I see it's sold by a vendor I won't use at $11 higher price than I paid. I bought mine mid-December 2009.

It's been safe to have around my small dog and my 2 yr. old grand-daughter. I would buy it again if Amazon is the vendor and it is a reasonable price.

I hate being cold.

Update (3-28-10) It suddenly quit. Not sure why yet. The temperature can still get cold so I'm not happy. Like another reviewer said it turns itself off no matter what. So what's up with that? It's been about the same 4 month time frame as the other reviewer mentioned. Have to figure something to do about it. Not too sure I would give it the same rating now. I hate being cold.

Update 04-01-10 Discovered that the heater melted the plastic outlet on the heavy duty extension cord I had to use because of the heater's short cord. At first it looked like the heater plug had arc-welded itself to the extension cord. But instead it melted everything inside the extension cord outlet. Thank gooness it was the only thing on that extension cord and the only thing plugged into that wall socket. We thought after prying it loose from (and destroying) the extension cord that the heater was fine since its plug looked normal. But something's changed the prongs, and it won't plug in anywhere.

So lesson learned don't use even heavy duty extension cords (even with a built-in breaker and being the only item plugged into it and only thing plugged into the wall socket). I don't trust this heater enough to buy another of it's kind. I feel fortunate it didn't catch my house on fire.

This heater works great. Extremely quiet and puts out an incredible amount heat for its size. I did a lot of research before purchasing and am very happy with this heater. Safe, quiet, and will heat a room in very little time. The only thing I could think of to make a good product better would be the digital heat settings. They are adjustable in 5 degree increments, which seem to be accurate in terms of actual temp, but it would be nice to have the option of setting it for each degree in between. I always set the thermostat to 70 and let the heater do its thing. Very pleased with its performance.

This heater does absolutely nothing anyone would want. At best it is a $270 hand warmer. As another reviewer mentioned, even sitting directly under it will barely warm the top of your head. If you buy this, you WILL be disappointed.

I returned the first unit sent to me because it arrived with a broken glass plate. Amazon quickly sent me a second unit which I returned because the heat produced was inadequate.

I placed the unit at the back of our covered porch, set it to its lowest height, pointed it down, and sat directly under it, but only the top of my head was warmed. Weather conditions were 48 degrees and wet, but still, manufacturer claims of a 9' blanket of heat just are not credible.

The manufacturer claims of a 12' electrical cord are factually correct, but half of the cord is needed to run down the length of the stand (inside the metal tube) leaving you with (depending on how high you set the unit) only about 6' to connect to an outlet.

Regarding assembly, much of the unit seemed solidly built, but there was almost no threading for some of the screws.

One other note, Amazon lists the base at 33", but it is actually about 22". Not a problem, the base is heavy and the unit stable. But it might give you the wrong impression as to the size of the heater.

This looks nice, but you get what you pay for. It;s not real beefy, even though it looks like it. It requires a dedicated 30amp outlet according to my electrician. If you run anything else on the same line not good. It's IR, so you have to be in the "heat light path" so to speak, but you really need to be sitting right near it. If I was to get another one...I wouldn;t I would get a propane one that blasts heat and doesn't trip circuit breakers.

Honest reviews on Telescoping Infrared Patio Heater - Glass Front

Very good product. This model has a class cover on the heating head, which is nicer looking and better in protection of the heating head.

Very easy to put together. Be aware, there's ball in the heating head, when the heater is in standing position, there's a heavy ball that drops down invisible, when the switch is pulled. This is a good safety feature.

However, there could be defective parts, which happened to me. I had to call the manufacturer in Florida to replace it. Be sure to take pics and send to them for clear communication. Their customer service is pretty good.

The unit works well and looks great! Be sure to unplug it while not in use, and put the head cover after the unit cools down.

I live in New York City and own an apartment with outdoor space. Most outdoor heaters require propane tanks and propane tanks are not easy to acquire or refill when you rely on public transportation. I was hoping this Infrared Heater would extend the use of my outdoor space into the fall/winter, however that has not been the case. I received this very big box that required me to put some parts together. Assembly wasn't terrible, but more than I had anticipated. I put everything together, moved it outside to my 18x5 balcony and turned it on. After several minutes I checked to see how much of the balcony was warmed and was SERIOUSLY disappointed. In order to be warmed by this lamp you would have to sit within 12 inches of the pole.

I have owned this fireplace for about a month and it has been fabulous. The Symphony flame effect is the best I've ever seen and I've owned 3 others, though not in this price range. The Timothy came disassembled in a large box. It was packed well and there was no shipping damage. However, I found several of the assembly screws rolling around inside the shipping crate. Thankfully, I was able to find all of them. The high quality of the wood and finish was evident upon opening the box. I quickly unpacked it and began assembly. The instructions were fairly basic and probably aren't required to assemble the fireplace as there are only about 10 parts to the fireplace. The firebox simply slides into place and is not really attached to the wood mantel. I assume this eases filter replacement. This is an excellent fireplace. The only noteworthy complaints are: (1.) The simulated firestarting mode (where the fireplae can slowly build and extinguish) does not work (not really a problem for me as I don't mind it turning instantly on or off). However, as this is an advertised feature and described within the operating manual, it is worthy to note. (2.) The sliding firebox will likely end up scratching the wood on the bottom of the fireplace over time so I consider that a design flaw. (3.) there was a small but noticeable gap between two pieces of the mantel. It isn't large but large enough that light could be easily seen streaming through. I fixed that with a 2 foot long piece of electrical tape applied to the inside/rear of the mantel.
