I wanted to review this product for those who were mainly concerned about the amount of power this amazing electric heater draws. Another reviewer stated use of this product blew fuses in his abode repetitively; I too can confirm that behaviour... and you'll soon understand why.

The unit itself is sturdy and quiet. Oscillation is smooth, and the fan (whether being used to blow heated or non-heated air) emits a "whooshing" noise rather than a whine. The fan makes an acceptable level of background noise (I was able to sleep without any problems, and found it relaxing). The unit has 3 modes of operation, controlled by a dial: fan only (no heater), fan and heater (level 1), and fan and heater (level 2). Oscillation is controlled via a separate button, as is temperature controlled via a separate dial. The amount of heat this unit can put out -despite being adjustable -is excellent. The power cord has a 2-prong connector.

But as previously mentioned, the power draw is downright unreasonable. The specifications claim a maximum of 1500W, but the unit absolutely will draw a lot more than that at times. Below are the readings (using a Kill-a-Watt metre, measuring amperage and wattage at 120V) and what features/adjustments were set to. This will surely shock many readers.

Fan only operation: 0.20 to 0.25 amps, 14 to 17 watts

Fan and heater (level 1): 7.4 to 8.0 amps, 750 to 830 watts

Fan and heater (level 2): 14.3 to 14.75 amps, 1450 to 1610 watts

Oscillation added approximately 0.02 amps and an additional 3 watts no matter what mode the unit was set to.

These numbers are accurate, and "double confirmed" by blowing fuses in my apartment numerous times. I even lost a generic (low-grade) power strip as a result. Readers should be aware that in most homes, a single power circuit (not outlet!) is usually 15 amps, so the chance of a fuse blowing as a result of this unit being used is quite high assuming other electronics (computers, etc.) are on the same circuit.

Furthermore, when considering the wattage drawn, think for a moment of your electric bill.

If your home has numerous dedicated 15 or 20 amp circuits, this product is definitely for you and will keep you extremely warm. If you rent an older flat like I do, expect there to be limited/shared circuits with 15 amps maximum, which means you should probably be looking for a unit that draws less power. Yes, you could run the unit at "level 1", but it's significantly warmer and more effective at "level 2".

I'm giving this product 3/5 stars given its decent build quality, silent operation, and effectiveness (I would give it 3.5 if Amazon supported half-star ratings). I'm docking stars due to the absurd power requirements given that most US abodes use 15 amp circuits, with newer homes using 20 amp.

I really like this heater. Got one for Christmas, to replace my office space heater which had just burnt out;however, my office doesn't open until after New Years Day, so we used it at the house, as the weather turned cold. It worked WONDERFULLY, better than I expected! And the oscillating feature is a MUST what I used to hate about my old heater was that it always projected heat in the same, small area and I was forever moving it around to avoid getting one spot too hot this heater doesn't have that problem. It works great!

Rec'd product promptly and in good condition. It's the perfect size for my bedroom, with a slim profile and hi-tech look. Tested the heater on a cold night and it warmed up my room in no time. The fan was quiet and the oscillating tower was good at spreading the heat around. Overall, a good little heater for the price!

Honest reviews on Lasko 5367 Oscillating Ceramic Tower Heater

I purchased two of these heaters this winter. They have worked great. They may not be 100% silent, but they are about as quiet as you can get for a space heater with a fan. I use one on the low setting in my two stall detached garage to keep it at about 45 degrees. I use the other in a 21' x 11' room in the house. It easily and quickly warms this room. I only have a couple of little complaints. The oscillating feature is nice for heat distribution, but the arc range that it sweeps could be greater. Also, it doesn't have tip over safety protection. It only has overheat protection. These cons are not enough to drop it from 5 to 4 stars, though.

I have tried a couple of different space heaters over the years. I had some digital resistive element Vornados. They heated the room and moved the air nice, but they all just up and died. Too bad too, because they were not cheap. I had a digital Holmes that worked like and had all the same features as the Vornados, but it too died. I have a Pelonis Safe-T ceramic heater. It still functions and puts out good heat, but it is pretty loud. When it comes to space heaters, what I have concluded is that digitally controlled heaters are not reliable. I think the circuitry just can't handle the elevated case temperatures. Since I haven't had the Laskos very long, I can't speak for their durability, but I think the manual thermostat will mean longer life. Overall, these Lasko heaters do it all at a good price. And, I won't feel as sick if they fail as I did with the Vornados.

This is my 2nd Lasko 5367 after trying several lower cost space heaters that all broke. My first one held up for 3 & 1/2 years in near constant 'on-high' and just gave out earlier in this year.

The size is great, reaching close enough to the floor to keep your feet warm. The oscillating button on top w/ the controls make adjusting the temperature easy to reach.

The fan feature is great for cooling down a room and takes about a minute to feel the cooler temp if you've been running it on the heating settings.

Easily warms up a small to med size chilly room very quickly and is very quiet.

I would suggest using this product with a grounding outlet on a different fuse from any high power electronic because it packs a lot of power for its size.

There are ventilation slots on the back that are easy to clean but, I don't recommend using it in a bathroom, unless you remove it before running a shower to protect it from steam.

Obviously, you should keep children and pets away from it, but at the same time, it's a rather no-worry, very solid and extremely difficult to tip over product with a heat overload protection built in.

I just got my new one and if it holds up like my 1st, I can't think of a thing that makes this product not worth the price, especially w/a 3-yr manufacturer's warranty.

I rated this 3 stars which Amazon defines as "It's OK" which is how I feel about it :)

* Size/Weight/Move-ability 10/10 -I think the size and weight are fine, the unit is heavy (~50lbs) but not so heavy that you can't lift it from the box, it does have handles on the side to grab, and rolls in any direction on casters. It's not very large, about the size of a modern dehumidifier or mini-fridge

* Front Panel/Controls 5/10 -The controls are straight forward and easy to use, the exception being that when you're in the "AUTO" mode you can not adjust the fan speed, it's a little odd. The big problem, and why I rate it 5/10 is that there are six SUPER BRIGHT LEDs on the front of the unit, as far as I can tell they serve no purpose whatsoever, they are simply there and they are on whenever the unit is on. When it's bright in the room it's not a big deal, but at night when you're trying to sleep this is a big issue, I'm probably going to have to cut out little wedges of electrical tape or something to stick over them. It comes with an IR remote that lets you control it as well. The display on the front will show the room temperature normally and when you are adjusting the temperature controls up and down it will change to show the desired temp for a few seconds. One note here is that the unit seems to stop cooling even when you're a good 5*F or so away from the desired temp--Example, it was 78* in my room last night and I set the unit for 73* it was running for a while but when the temp hit 77* the compressor shut off for a very long time and the room started to feel hot, temp went back up to 78* and it clicked back on... this may just be a quirk with my unit or something, but my window-mounted a/c will keep running until their ambient temp sensors equal the desired temp setting.

* Window Adapter/Hose 8/10 -This is a single hose model, that means that it sucks air from the room to blow over the condenser (hot part) and then that air is blown outside; something to keep in mind is that you are sucking air from the room which means you are blowing your "conditioned" air outside as part of the normal process, as a result this unit will not cool a room as efficiently as a dual-hose model or a window/wall unit which both use outside air to cool the condenser--so this 10kBTU model will not cool a room as well as a 10kBTU window unit (it might be more comparable to a 7-8kBTU?). The window/hose adapters are decent quality, the only complaint I have is that I wish the adapter were "taller", my window sill is about 1" high, as a result the hose hits the sill before it the adapter hits the base, this isn't a big deal, but just wanted to note it. Another thing to note, some people complain about the window adapters not sealing very well--this one seems to do an OK job, the window just closes on the flat top of the adapter as a seal. The thing to keep in mind w/ these portable a/c's is that having a fantastic seal is not really expected or needed for the unit to operate, you get just as much air leakage around window mounted a/c's. The window adapter, hose adapter and hose are all well constructed and made of good materials--one tip: first screw the hose onto the unit, then screw the wide-mouth adapter thing onto the hose, THEN put the wide-mouth adapter into the window adapter, if you buy this you'll see what I mean :)

* Cooling/Air Output 10/10 -Works great! Very cold air, and it blows the air fast out of the vent, much better then my window mounted units which feel like they just dribble out air sometimes

* Noise 7/10 -First: It makes noise, all air conditioners do, if you need silence to sleep then you need another solution other then window/portable a/c's, I can sleep with the "white noise" of a fan/motor running. The unit is no louder then my 8kBTU window-mount unit when operating with and without it's compressor running; however, the reason I give it a 7/10 is that the unit tends to make more noise when the compressor turns on and off then my window unit does, in addition the compressor cycles on/off very often and for short periods, which exacerbates the issue. So far it has been waking me up, and that's not good, it remains to be seen if I can used to the noise, or this will become an awake-only unit.

* Draining 5/10 -With low room humidity this unit should be able to exhaust most of the water out with the waste air, which means no draining... but with high humidity you need to drain the unit, this an issue on this unit because unlike other units it does not drain into a bucket which can be removed and dumped out. With this unit you need to put a "shallow pan", as the instructions say, under the drain cock and open it... well this pan needs to be really shallow (see my user submitted image) because the drain cock is only about 1-2" off the floor! I can envision this being a real nightmare to empty and I'm not looking forward to really humid days

Overall I think this is a decent portable a/c, and I'm hopeful that it will work out.

Summarized my main concerns are:

1) Does not have a bucket to empty, if it needs draining that will be very difficult w/o a bucket

2) Front Panel LEDs are super bright and always on, makes it difficult to sleep

3) Compressor makes more noise then expected when starting/stopping, this wakes me up at night

Summarized the pro's are:

1) Very good air output--lots of volume and pressure

2) Cold output! Great for spot cooling, move the unit near you and you'll freeze your butt off even if the rest of the room is warmer then you might like

3) Easy to move around on the casters

4) Reasonable price

I bought this for my elderly mother because she has electronic gear set up in her bedroom and being on the 2nd floor it would get too hot in there for her safety in my opinion.

First of all, it is easy to install. I was worried about the exhaust hose through the window because that seemed complicated and way above my head. I had my brother come over and install it even though he assured me even I could do it :P It took him 20 minutes total. And MOST of that time was setting up the basics like where she wanted it and the direction it faced etc. The exhaust hose was trivial and it fit in her window just fine even though she has a sliding window left to right not up and down. It takes up a small space in the window and from the outside I didn't even see it.

It was heavy for me, but probably fine for most people.

It has a thermometer on the front so it tells you what temperature it is at when you start it and continues to update you as it goes down. It was 95 when she turned it on and within an hour it was down to 83. So basically it cooled her room by 12 degrees. That may seem small but also keep in mind it is constantly blowing cold air so she could point it at herself and it was instant relief the entire time. It has a remote too so she could adjust it from her bed.

I can't remember the wattage of it so check that. It is something like 1200 watts? Our only problem was that most fuses can only handle a total of 2000 watts.(I am typing this from what I was told so forgive me if my numbers are not 100% accurate) It was on the same circuit breaker as my bathroom and my hair dryer is 1200 watts so when I used it it blew a fuse. No big deal once I moved my hair dryer to another outlet.

IMO 12 degrees is worth it, especially since you might even get better results of you don't have all of the electronics she has.

This was also a great price compared to the other models I looked at which got bad reviews.

Honest reviews on NewAir AC-10000E Portable Air Conditioner

Bought the unit. Installed it. Set it up for continuous drain with a gallon size bucket. Filled the bucket in 8 hours or so with water and made my office ice cold. For about the first week. After that, it began to cool less and less and less and now it just blows room temperature air and quit putting out any water at all. Don't have the box any more. Probably can't return it. Don't know what I'm going to do with the $330 unit. Extremely dissappointed.

I received this unit and it appeared to be of good quality. The set up was simple and I quickly was able to start it up. Initially it seemed to be working fine albeit with a fair amount of noise (which I expected). Unfortunately, I quickly noticed the compressor was cutting out and the unit stopped cooling. That night it was cooler outside than in my relatively small bedroom. I returned the unit the next morning.

I've had this heater as the only heat source in my 10X15 ft. office through two Florida winters. It puts out plenty of heat on "low," and is so quiet that I don't know whether it's on or off without looking. The only problem, sadly a big one, is that the thermostat only sets in 5 degree increments and allows too much heat variation before it turns on, so I'm always a little too hot or too cold. I'm thinking of replacing it with one of the competing Lasko ceramic heaters. A friend has one, and it seems to be just as quiet and efficient as the Holmes, but does a better job of maintaining a stable temperature. I have waited and waited for Holmes to come out with a ceramic heater just like this one but with a better thermostat, but I guess this isn't going to happen. Oh, well.

Holmes makes an excellent compact and portable ceramic space heater that really gives off a lot of heat than my older one does! Moreover, the unit is very lightweight and easy to carry although of course I wouldn't carry it while it's working or just after it's been shut off.

The heater is reasonably priced as of the time I am writing this and I sure hope that Holmes continues to make these; I would like to get one for my father. The unit is completely quiet--in fact it's so quiet that you'll never know that it's there unless you see it. It rapidly provides a good amount of heat to areas like bedrooms and offices.

This heater by Holmes is best used for spaces that are roughly 100 square feet or slightly more; I wouldn't depend on it to heat several rooms or a combination living room/dining room all at once. For that you'll either need more than one of these space heaters or you'll have to use this unit along with your central heat or oil heat, whatever you have.

I also like that the unit turns itself off automatically of it should accidentally tip over. That's good protection against fire or ugly marks on your carpeting that could be tough to remove.

If you look at the fourth picture of the unit at the top of this page, you can see for yourself the way you can control the temperature. You get "on" and "off" buttons; and there are five specific temperatures from which to choose. You can adjust the temperature a bit more simply by pushing the "hi" and "lo" buttons. Great!

Again, this is one awesome space heater that's more than worth the current price. I highly recommend it.

I just ordered two more of these units. We've been using them for the last five years or so and love them! We need more because we keep giving them away to our kids, who ask for them specifically. They run quieter and put out more heat (double ceramic heater) than any other fan driven area heater we've ever used. We also love the thermostat features and tip-over shut off. I don't think Holmes is making this model any more and it's a shame. I thought I better get a few more while I can.

Honest reviews on Holmes HCH4953-U Ultra-Quiet Dual Ceramic Heater with 1-Touch

I have to say I've enjoyed my unit. It's the only heat I've had in my large north-east exposure, 2nd floor bedroom over a 2-car garage and still kept it toasty warm. We've had cold weather much more snow than we've ever had at one time and it's been a great little heater. I doubt the thermostat is correct ... I just adjust it up or down as needed. So glad I got it. The 2 Laskos I had were very loud and ineffective. They stopped after only a couple of weeks and not during our coldest weather. This has been very quiet and I really like it. I bought mine from Amazon, and now I see it's sold by a vendor I won't use at $11 higher price than I paid. I bought mine mid-December 2009.

It's been safe to have around my small dog and my 2 yr. old grand-daughter. I would buy it again if Amazon is the vendor and it is a reasonable price.

I hate being cold.

Update (3-28-10) It suddenly quit. Not sure why yet. The temperature can still get cold so I'm not happy. Like another reviewer said it turns itself off no matter what. So what's up with that? It's been about the same 4 month time frame as the other reviewer mentioned. Have to figure something to do about it. Not too sure I would give it the same rating now. I hate being cold.

Update 04-01-10 Discovered that the heater melted the plastic outlet on the heavy duty extension cord I had to use because of the heater's short cord. At first it looked like the heater plug had arc-welded itself to the extension cord. But instead it melted everything inside the extension cord outlet. Thank gooness it was the only thing on that extension cord and the only thing plugged into that wall socket. We thought after prying it loose from (and destroying) the extension cord that the heater was fine since its plug looked normal. But something's changed the prongs, and it won't plug in anywhere.

So lesson learned don't use even heavy duty extension cords (even with a built-in breaker and being the only item plugged into it and only thing plugged into the wall socket). I don't trust this heater enough to buy another of it's kind. I feel fortunate it didn't catch my house on fire.

This heater works great. Extremely quiet and puts out an incredible amount heat for its size. I did a lot of research before purchasing and am very happy with this heater. Safe, quiet, and will heat a room in very little time. The only thing I could think of to make a good product better would be the digital heat settings. They are adjustable in 5 degree increments, which seem to be accurate in terms of actual temp, but it would be nice to have the option of setting it for each degree in between. I always set the thermostat to 70 and let the heater do its thing. Very pleased with its performance.

This heater was perfect for replacing our 31 year old bathroom heater as we required dimensions that would cover the hole in the wall with surrounding antique tile. Honest reviews on Stiebel Eltron CK 15E 120-Volt 1500-Watts Wall Mounted Electric Fan

These heaters are well made, look good and are quiet. I prefer this type of heater to the common type that fits between the wall studs inside the wall.

They are expensive (made in W Germany), but I have not had any problems with them, and used about about seven in various houses.

For new construction I suggest connect the heater power to a wall switch. I usually file the (metric) heater cable hole and use a standard US conduit fitting, then run the pipe through the wall behind the heater. That way there are no cables dangling near the heater.

The connector block for the power wires uses very small screws so you may have to use a small

flat blade screwdriver and file it to fit the holes if necessary.

We had one of the CK15 heaters installed in a bathroom a few years ago to replace an old gas heater that didn't meet code. While we don't have long periods of cold weather in central Texas (so I can't comment on how long it would hold up under heavy use conditions), it works like a dream, is quiet and puts out plenty of heat. I'm going to buy another one for a second bathroom.

Yama Glass 5 cup Tabletop Ceramic 20oz Syphon w/Butane Burner

I've always wanted to try out a vacuum brewer, and so I bought this one since it had a great price and included a burner. I have used the burner a few times at the table, but I have found I mostly prefer to simply use the gas stove. The butane burner does work well and has plenty of heat to get the job done. Plus the whole package is very handsome.

I didn't think I'd use this much because it's a bit more of a hassle than a french press, but I like the coffee it makes so much that I use it every day. I'm surprised it makes coffee that is better than the french press, but it does make it a lot smoother and the cup has absolutely no grounds or mud in it.

I roast my own coffee now, and this the perfect companion to the roaster for the way I like coffee, which is smooth, consistent, and flavorful. Plus it is fun to watch it work. The included bottom glass makes enough to for two normal sized coffee cups or one large mug for the road. It includes 5 cloth filters, and I have used the same one for many months now. Daily cleanup is with the sink sprayer which gets the filter clean enough for more use. Then once a week, I pull the filter out of the metal holder and clean it up well.

The amazon page states quite a long lead time for shipping, but it came in just over a week--which was great.

If you love a French Press, but want to move into something a bit more elegant and exotic to make coffee the Siphon Based System is just the answer. I opted for this device because it is fueled by Butane Gas the same gas to fill Cigarette Lighters.

If you love hot coffee that is not burnt or over cooked, and you wish to get away from the paper filters, this Siphon Pot of perfect. I loved it.

My parents used a vacuum coffee maker back in the 1950's...that being said the absolutely best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life was in Jakarta (on, of course, the island of Java) from a table-top vacuum coffee maker.

This product makes absolutely perfect coffee. The presentation for guests is amazing.

YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS COFFEE MAKER.

Honest reviews on Yama Glass 5 cup Tabletop Ceramic 20oz Syphon w/Butane Burner

You wouldn't be investigating this product if you didn't love your coffee, so the fact that this is more work than a drip machine is likely irrelevant to you. The payoff for (not really all that much) extra work is a great cup. Once you've gone a few rounds with this method, the end to end time (burner-on to coffee-down) is less than 10 minutes. Actual brewing, which is the only part where you actually need to pay close attention, is 2 minutes. And man, the coffee is good.

I have no fewer than 6 coffeemaking appliances -ancient Bodum Santos Electric (a warhorse that I used constantly for over 10 years, still works like new...sadly, Bodum stopped making these); reasonable mid-line drip machine (only use when I need to produce a volume of coffee for guests); a Bodum french press; an Aeropress (pretty cool, makes a smooth cup); a Coleman percolator we use for camping; and the Yama. They all have something to recommend them, but my runaway favorite is the Yama.

The manufacturer has made an honest attempt to make this unit pretty, with the floral scrolling in the base and its overall design. Even so, the first impression is that it's a bit rickety-looking. The screw-on uprights move a bit, and the whole thing flexes in a mildly unnerving way. But I've brewed well in excess of 100 pots in the Yama and it shows no sign of wear or failure. Nowadays I don't even question its sturdiness...it has help up just fine.

A few weeks into usage, I started getting a nasty flavor note. After some investigation online, I determined that it was buildup on the 3 cloth filters. I tried the various methods that were suggested for cleaning them, but was never able to completely eliminate that off-note, so I tossed them. There are two excellent alternatives to the cloth filters. First, you can use the paper filters for Aeropress. They are very inexpensive and fit well. They do deposit a little more sediment in the cup, but some people like that. Since I don't, I tried another method, which is a Yama stainless steel filter. Make sure you wash the steel filter well before putting it to work, as it does present a slighty metallic taste on first use. But it doesn't leave as much sediment as the paper filters, produces a cup that I think is as good as the cloth filters, and most importantly doesn't get nasty with use. It rinses clean under a faucet, and stands up to repeated use. Mine has had most of those >100 pots pass through it, and it's still in fine shape.

I think the butane burner is the most effective of the available means of producing heat. Stovetop would probably work if you have a gas stove, but electric stovetops are too up-and-down on the temperatures, making for more drama than needed during the brewing process. Alcohol burners work ok, but they take longer than butane burners....a lot longer, in my experience.

YMMV, but for my money, vac pots are the best way to brew coffee. I'm giving the Yama 5 stars because it is a good value for the money, it hits its design goal beautifully, and for me it has stood up to a lot of use. It does everything it is purported to do, and it makes killer brew.

Very happy with this syphon. Have made some very nice coffee with it. Only down side is the plastic service handle around neck of the bowl which broke quickly but is easily fixed.

My coffee/tea stayed hot all night!!! I usually take a long time to finish a cup of tea or coffee especially when I'm online surfing the web, and I got used to drinking them cold. I searched for a long time for an electric beverage warmer and finally took a chance on this one. I just hit the jackpot. I gave it a 5 star rating even with the short cord (about 45 inches) because the manufacturer gave a reason why (safety issues).

All parts present, no plastic smell noted, looks just like in the picture, made in China (but everything seems to be made in China these days), hot plate is 3.5 inches in diameter and hot enough to burn your finger (I don't recommend touching it although I did)...

Hi,

I wanted to write a review of this product because the other 1 comment was unfairly negative.

The Norpro electric beverage warmer is a nice little tea or coffee warmer that does exactly what it's supposed to do: Keep drinks warm.

It is not a device to boil water so don't make negative reviews because it doesn't do that.

It keeps drinks at about 120 degrees Fahrenheit, (to me) the perfect drinking temperature.

It has a nice weighty feel and has a illuminated button so you know it's on.

I would like to see an auto-shut off feature but it costs less than $20 so it's still a nice value.

Try one out. It's nice to have your tea warm the whole day.

This is the 3rd purchase of this item I have made. The first was a gift and lasted about 20 years. I have had the 2nd one in my office for perhaps 10 years and just bought one for my office at home. Keeps the beverage warm, will heat it up if cool to begin with; there is no smell and it does not burn or deface the desk surface. The on/off button is right on the warmer. Excellent choice--no reason to switch to another brand.

Honest reviews on Electric Beverage Warmer

This product does a good job of keeping the coffee hot once you're down to about a half a cup. While it won't keep a full cup hot, I can usually drink enough of it before that's an issue. I like that the on/off switch is on the unit itself rather than the cord, and that there is a light so you can see if you've left it on. The cord is on the short side, might be nice if it were a bit longer.

Having wanted something to keep my coffee warm on my desk, this one fit the bill nicely.

It is simple, has an easy wipe surface, and the on/off switch is lit up so you can see

if you left it on.

It does not have an auto/shutoff but I don't see any danger.

it will keep your coffee hot for hours, but leaves the handle unaffected. Well worth

the price.

We had a Haier dehumidifier for a week emptying it occasionally before we realized the automatic shutoff didn't work. It flooded our basement ruining the carpet. Then Haier's insurance company doesn't want to pay for the replacement carpet.

We sent our unit back for replacement. So far nothing, they've had it for a few days but didn't send one out until we called then said they'll send it out.

Poor product, poor customer support, poor relations with claims. No more Haier products for us.

You would think I would learn, but after originally purchasing this item it did not work properly and did not shut off when the bucket was full. It overflowed for days before we realized it and my carpet was ruined. The company seemed helpful and sent me a replacement one which we used for quite awhile with no problem until yesterday...same scenario, more ruined carpet and the company refuses to deal with me because my inital purchase was over a year ago. This is so frustrating because the whole purpose of having a dehumidifier is to keep the moisture out of the room, not to be soaking every towel you can find with the overflow and spending days trying to dry the area out before it mildews. I have two other dehumidifiers in other areas of the house that I have used for years with no problems and my thought is that they are manual and this one is digital. Never again. I've learned my lesson this time.

Purchased this unit in July 2009. It worked fine for that summer and for 2010. Fan and compressor run, but it will not extract moisture in 2011. After the first year, parts are covered under warranty, but not labor. They do not have service stations.

Honest reviews on Haier DE45EJ-L 45 Pint Electronic Dehumidifer, Energy Star Rated

This dehumidifier seems to work ok. It doesn't rattle and shake and it seems to suck moisture out of the air. However, there is a serious flaw with the hose coupling. Sure, it comes with a 3 foot cheap plastic hose that works just fine, but after 2 years, it developed cracks and needed replacement. I went outside and cut off a length off of an old garden hose, and it DID NOT FIT the bucket. I've never heard of a dehumidifier that wouldn't take a standard hose attachment. Good luck finding a replacement drain hose for it and the cap for the back was long gone after two years.

If this happens to you, instead of contacting Haier, which I assumed would be as good at getting me a replacement as they were designing these things, try cobbling something together. Get some plumbers tape and wrap a bunch of it around the male end on the bucket (it is too small for a regular hose attachment). Wrap it until the female end of the hose barely fits on, then tighten the coupling. After that, wrap some more plumbers tape around the outside, until it is completely covered. Then cover with duct tape to make sure. That keeps the hose itself from leaking if it's prone to. Well, it works for now anyway. Bottom line; stay away from this poorly designed humidifier.

First one was purchased in the spring of '09. It worked that year but when starting up the following spring it was dead. Haier replaced it under warranty and the replacement worked last year. This spring the new one is dead. Both had refrigerant leaks and Haier wouldn't replace as you are under the first one year warranty. So thats 2 in 2 years that both failed boy those chinese sure make a good product for Haier. Never a Haier product again !!!!!

I spent quite a while reviewing different fireplaces from different vendors. When I saw this one I fell in love with it. The "shipment" status stated about a week to 3 weeks for delivery so, I was very impressed when it arrived in less then a week. The instructions for putting it together were very specific and all the "holes and notches" fit perfectly. For the price the product is more then worth buying. Thank you, Kim
