We have oil heat and a very large older home so try to conserve running the furnace when you only need to warm up a few rooms. This heater is great for my livingroom it's has 2 ceramic heater units built into it, quiet, heats the room up very quickly would recommend it to anyone. Ceramic heaters use far less electricity than traditional heaters.

We bought this ceramic heater to heat our Airstream TT as the propane heater heats great but is just too noisy. This heater is quiet, emits a suprising amount of heat, and you can adjust the temperature. All in all a very good value.

This little power house is easy on the wallet, very powerful, heats up in an instant and silent: there is no noise. I am very pleased with the quality of this item and intend to stay with this because I have to pay high gas bills and I use it to heat the room instead of turning on the gas heat. Works like a charm and makes the room toasty and warm without taking a lot of money either! I highly recommend this. Not one complaint. Very extremely pleased.

Honest reviews on Holmes HCH4266WGL-U Twin Ceramic Heater with Manual Thermostat

I got this to replace a long line of space heaters that have failed

Pro's:

I have a very large bedroom (about 500 sq. ft.) and it does a very god job of heating it quickly

low profile and light weight makes it easy to move, but be careful

fairly quiet

good thermostat control, with 2 different fan settings

removal intake cover and "filter"

Con's:

needs 3 feet clearance on all sides per instructions

"filter" on the backside will only catch large clumps of dust, smaller hairs or bits of dust go right through and hit the heating element

cycles on and off a lot when reaches temperature, but would only wake a light sleeper

no GFI built in

BIGGEST CON : the expanded metal grate on the front gets very hot after short usage. It gets hot enough to give a nasty burn if touched. There is no secondary plastic grill as a guard. DO NOT LET SMALL CHILDREN OR PETS NEAR IT! This could be a recall issue in the future.

Handle: it's oddly placed on top so the average person would be more likely to grab it by he side to move it. MISTAKE: that's how you get a nasty burn.

I don't have any small children and my dog won't go near it, so I will keep it unless recalled.

I had previously owned this same unit and was delightful that I could find the exact replacement. I use it in my office as it is small and can be placed in any area.

It is beautiful and feels like real brick, as well as looks like real brick but it does need a hearth under it so that the heat can generate higher and it will look really real. It was delivered undamaged except for a ring mark on the granite mantel which looks like someone put a cup or glass on. I haven't tried to get it out but I am sure it will buff out. I love it regardless of the little things I want to do with it.

I just purchased a Cast iron humidifier and love it-$5.95 at the local thrift store.Cast iron needs to be seasoned, just like a cast iron skillet.Clean your cast iron item, dry it out, then rub bacon grease on it,inside and out(that's the best way)or olive oil or shortening and bake it in the oven for an hour or so-that should stop the rust, let it cool down in the oven. One reviewer said she was going to paint her's-that's probally not a good idea if you are going to use it-to many chemicals in the air.Oiling it will make it nice and black.

This cast iron kettle is very sturdy and it looks great on our wood stove. Keeping it full of water while burning a fire to keep the house warm is a great way to keep moisture in the air. Before using this kettle, it became hard to breathe since my nose and throat would dry out. Now there are no worries!

I would recommend this kettle for anyone who uses a wood stove or burns a fire for household heat.

Best Deals on Cast Iron Kettle Humidifier

We like this kettle very much. It could not be used as a teapot it gets rusty on the inside and it is very heavy and somewhat difficult to lift; but it sits on top of the wood stove and helps to humidify our house in the dry winter. Excellent value for the money!

Honest reviews on Cast Iron Kettle Humidifier

The kettle does function, but the paint is flaking off. I use this on my wood burning stove, and it does steam up and humidify, but the paint isn't great. I am planning on re-painting it. so, it works for what I bought it for, but its not pretty.

DO NOT BUY THIS PART! The thermostat fails in the continuous position causing the fridge to overheat. It is supposed to switch off around 30-40F. Instead this thermostat didn't switch off until 100F !!! Returning

Honest reviews on GE WR50X10068 Defrost Thermostat for GE Refrigerators

If you are going to the trouble of replacing the defrost heater in a GE by removing the ice maker, the light, the condenser fan, and then melting all of the ice that built up, spend the few more dollars and replace this guy at the same time! In my refrigerator, I had to cut the wires between the old thermostat and the wiring harness, then use wire nuts to put the replacement into the circuit. So, be prepared to solder and heat-shrink, use electrical tape, or use wire nuts like I did.

This part works WITH the defrost heater, so replace them both at the same time and be done with the job!

The seller shipped FAST and it arrived well-packaged.

I bought a board assembly for $135 trying to fix the defrost problem because I knew it was easy to get to. In the end the coil still froze up, so I went ahead and ordered this wasn't as hard to get to as I feared, easy to install and fixed the problem. I recently built a new backyard workshop and needed an A/C unit for the Texas heat. I could have just put in a window unit; but, I wanted something that was more efficient, quieter, and that didn't block my single window.

After some research, I opted to go with this Klimaire unit since it had the features I was looking for and is also geared more toward installing it yourself than the competing models are.

Anyway, here are the things I like about the Klimaire Mini-Split:

1) It really was pretty easy to install. I'll talk about this more in a bit; but, there are several videos online and the unit comes with pretty much everything you need.

2) It has A/C, Heat, dehumidifier, and fan settings. That covers pretty much anything I could want.

3) It is EXTREMELY quiet! Both the inside and outside units are barely audible, which makes it a lot more enjoyable.

4) The remote can be mounted to a wall and works great.

5) It is very efficient at 19 SEER. This shouldn't cost much to run at all.

6) It looks great and is very simple to operate.

Even though I am loving the unit overall, there is one irritating problem that I've run into. When the unit is on A/C mode, the fan will switch between levels 1, 2, & 3 it never turns completely off. That makes me feel bad leaving it on when I'm not out there (the building is extremely well insulated using foam). The dehumidifier setting does the same thing.

Fortunately, the Auto mode lets the fan turn completely off; but, it tries to keep the temperature in the room at an 'exact' level. So, in the summer, if you have the unit set at 78 degrees, it will run the A/C until the building cools down and can actually switch to the heater if the temp goes just a little low. It's crazy to be wasting energy running the heater in the Texas heat! The auto mode would be MUCH better if it would focus on a range rather than an exact temp. For example, if the A/C would turn on when the temp gets above 78, but the heater turns on when the temp gets below 65.

Anyway, that's something I can live with but it's still irritating.

As far as the install goes, the hardest part was running the electrical out to the building in the first place. I'd never done anything with 220 volt before, so it was a learning experience and took me a couple of days. Although, to be fair, I had to run electrical out there anyway. This unit requires a 220 volt, 30-Amp power supply.

Once the power was connected from my new sub-panel to the A/C disconnect, I basically followed these steps:

1) Put a couple of 18"x18" concrete pavers where I wanted the exterior unit and bolted it down.

2) Mounted the bracket for the interior unit to the wall.

3) Drilled a 3" hole in the wall where I wanted the pipes to go through. NOTE: The instructions call for a 3" hole, but I actually wish I had gone a bit smaller. Be sure to look at the conduit they provide for going through the wall, since that is actually closer to 2". I ended up filling around the conduit with Great Stuff gap filler.

4) Wired the provided electrical cable to the inside unit.

5) Ran both copper pipes, the drain pipe, and the electrical wire out of the building through the hole that was drilled in step #3.

6) Hooked everything up to the exterior unit.

7) Wired the exterior unit to the A/C disconnect using wire that I had leftover from wiring the building. I ran the wire through some 1/2" LiquidTite flexible conduit that I also had leftover, and that I had purchased from Home Depot.

8) I opened the lower valve and briefly pressed the discharge button on the upper valve 4 times to get the air out of the system. This process is shown on some of the online videos.)

9) At this point, I just wrapped up the pipes, made everything look good, and turned it on. :)

Overall, if you're looking for a highly efficient, and quiet A/C & heater solution this is a great choice! I would definitely recommend it, even with the irriating "Auto-Mode" issue.

Hey, Guys. I bought two units, the KSIM009-H219 and the KSIM018-H217. Research led me directly to the Klimaire distributor in Miami (I'm in Jacksonville) where they responded to my call for info. I bought directly from the dist where they cut me a break on the shipping for the two. Ordered on Thursday, they shipped on Monday SAIA freight and arrived in Jacksonville the next day where I picked them up at the terminal. Packaging was spot on, no issues.

Installed myself, but I'm no stranger to mechanical stuff. I think an installation of this sort for a newbie would be a challenge since there's so many disciplines involved. The biggest challenge is working with the supplied lineset and making sure you don't damage it or run short since you don't want to modify the length. Careful planning always pays off here. After the typical hookup, I vacuumed the lines for about two hours on both units, opened the liquid line a bit to charge the vacuumed lines and evap up to atmospheric pressure, opened both packing valves and buttoned everything up.

At this point checked for leaks with a leak detector solution and found I had leaks on three out of four connections. Some serious tightening solved those problems and I'd say that was the most surprising, it takes more than you'd think it would. I worked with a plumber for several years as a young pup and the answer to "how tight should this be?" was "till it stops leaking."

After flipping the breaker on the disconnects I started each system and have simply been amazed at how quiet and seemingly efficient these units are. I think you could run them both on power from a hamster in a wheel. Matter of fact, I did connect both of these units to my gen-set so we'll have cooling in those two rooms when the storm hits. Less than 4 amps on the small unit and 7 on the large unit. Amazing.

My thoughts on reviews. Anyone that is considering making a large purchase such as these will do some research and inevitably run across negative reviews and there are those here as well. But, any company that is putting forth the effort to bring items like this to market is not doing it to fail. Sure there are issues and problems that can and do arise, but that's from any company, with any product. More often than not problems stem from a language barrier, and this is where patience, compassion and persistence will help solve most problems. If you're looking for trouble, you'll probably find it. Those with a bad experience will rush to warn while those with a good experience will simply enjoy and move on so one needs to see all reviews in that context.

Of course most AC guys in the states hate messing with something they did not sell you, or something they are not familiar with. Most everyone is biased in one way or another. Knowing that and wanting to learn something new can make a project such as this rewarding if you do it yourself. Of course it's all at risk, and they'll be no shortage of people with a God complex to warn you of that fact.

All in all, I'd say that if you're a good car mechanic and know your way around the construction of a house and have an understanding of home wiring beyond the basics, you'll be happy.

Of course, mine could fail tomorrow.

Feel free to write me with any questions and I'll try to help.

All the best, Don

This unit worked great for 2 months and then problem after problem. This is made by klimaire and the air stopped blowing and then problems with remote...NOW ITS DEAD. Honest reviews on Klimaire 9,000 Btu 19 SEER, Energy Satar, Ductless Mini Split

I, like one of the other reviewers installed it in a workshop that I built in Texas. I have installed central air in the past, but it has been quite a few years. The biggest issue that I had was that the directions could have been worded better. I recommend that if you choose to install it yourself, watch a few installation videos on-line. This helps clarify a few issues that I came across with their directions. They do not have to be the same brand to understand the concept. There is an LG split system video (tips and how to) on You-Tube.

I found a discrepancy in the breaker size in the directions and the outside unit. I went with the 20 amp breaker stated on the actual unit, not the generic directions.

I did have to go out and purchase a vacuum pump, a set of gauges and an adapter for the gauges to hook up to the 410a refrigerant line. This required adapter is not included. Some people choose not to do this step and just purge it. I can't see how the moisture can be eliminated from the line set by skipping this step.

I put a kink in the low pressure line and decided to cut the section out and silver solder it.

Buy a bottle of leak detector from Home Depot or Lowe's to check the fittings. I really had to tighten down on the factory flair fittings to eliminate two almost undetectable leaks (so tight that I was afraid of breaking the line).

I did not change the length of the line set during the installation. This way I did not have to add or eliminate any of the refrigerant.

So far it is working great.

Bought this unit thinking it would safe me some money. However, I had to get an electrician to install a new circuit breaker box since the old 100amp circuit breaker could not support my home and this unit. 7000 dollars later this unit was turned on, the fan started blowing, but the compressor on the outside unit failed to initialize in either heat or cold. A few minutes later, the indoor unit displayed an E1 code. After a day and a half spent by the repairman, it was determined that the PBC unit on the interior unit or the motherboard on the outside unit was not functioning. One can only imagine how discouraged I was after spending so much money just to end up back a ground zero. I have notified the Heat and Cold Company through Amazon and I am still waiting on a response. Word of advice: Get the AC unit through a local reputable company to avoid this hassle. More to follow.

I was expecting this machine to cook rice very well based on previously owning a neuro fuzzy logic rice cooker made by zojirushi, which I've worn out after many years of use. I'm very happy with the new induction heating style of cooking. It cooks brown rice better.

Pro's

--Exceptional rice results, almost foolproof.

--Multiple menu settings account for most types of rice, including GABA brown (which is supposed to make brown rice even healthier)

--Easy to operate. Select menu setting, add cups of rice to bowl (rinse the rice), fill to applicable mark in bowl, and hit cook button.

--Battery backup. A lithium battery means the cooker will remember its last settings even if you unplug it. If you're a creature of habit, this feature makes it even easier to operate.

--Clock timer with 2 time settings you can set based on the clock's time. Like previously stated, the cooker remembers the timer settings until you change them. I leave my cooker set to have rice ready at 6:30a.m. (to pack for lunch at work) or 5:30p.m (dinner).

Con's

--Water level markings in pan are based on the 6.2 oz cup provided (~3/4 cup). Don't lose the cup!

--Expensive (my justification is it saves me $5 every time I pack rice for lunch instead of eating in the cafeteria)

--Takes longer to cook rice than the equivalent stove method (baking or stovetop)

--Timer is military time only (so when I said the timer was set to 5:30p.m., it's actually 17:30)

In summary, buy this machine if you want to use the timer function. If you're the type of person who only remembers things at the last minute or don't like to plan meals ahead, keep your money and get a pressure cooker or a good pot instead.

It fits my needs perfectly, so I give it 5 stars. I also recommend a Zojirushi lunch jar system if you want to use this to make rice for lunch at work. A lunch jar will keep the rice warm and moist, so you don't have to microwave it.

The rice cooker is best in class ie five stars.

The only negative thing about this rice cooker is that it last about 1 year before it fails. I have just recently had my second rice cooker fail and this time it lasted about 1.1 years similar to the first rice cooker. After contacting Zojirushi they gave me a repair place for the rice cooker. I have already purchased my 3rd zojirushi rice cooker and the repair for the second one will cost $136 dollars.

The nice thing is that you can get it repaired and the customer service was really nice on the phone.

Both failures caused the digital display to lock up.

Best Deals on Zojirushi NP-HBC10 5-1/2-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer

The cooker has done excellently. All of the rice types have been great. I'm using it for other grains. After some experimenting, here are my methods so far:

Steel-cut oats for breakfast: add 1/2 cup oats to bowl; wash a few times until the water is mostly clear; add water to slightly above 1 brown rice mark; press timer button; select porridge setting. Great oats are ready in the morning. Adjust the water addition to your personal preference. I add spices, fruit and ground flax later so I need it wet enough. Some residue gets on the top plate and into the steam vent. I set the top plate in water while eating to make it easier to clean.

Quinoa + oats: add 1/2 cup of each into bowl; wash a few times to get mostly clear water; add water to 1 white rice mark; cook as regular white. We enjoy this grain mixture at meals. It saves well in the refrigerator. Saute some onions, etc and add the grain at the end to heat it.

Hulled Barley: cook as brown rice. I like it with slightly extra water. I cook 1 cup barley at slightly above the 1 brown rice water mark.

Amaranth: I've haven't tried it enough to make a recommendation as yet. The regular white rice setting overcooked it.

Honest reviews on Zojirushi NP-HBC10 5-1/2-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer

This is the second NP-HBC10 induction heating rice cooker I have owned, the first having been given to my son in a moment of weakness. As there are a great many reviews already, I'll just sum up the pros and cons as I see them.

PROS

The rice cooker is attractively styled and easy to use. As other reviewers have noted, be sure to remove and wash the inner lid after each use. This takes only seconds.

The control panel is clear and the interface is intuitive. While one should always read the manual one can operate the cooker without reading a single page.

Build quality, workmanship, fit, and finish are excellent, as they should be for the price.

The extended keep-warm function is incredibly effective. I have often held rice overnight and found it warm, moist, and not crusty the following day.

Cleanup is easy as the machine lacks many of the nook-and-cranny rice catchers of some other brands.

Brown rice is cooked to perfection every time. I don't often bother with the GABA cycle but for people who believe that it makes a difference, it is there to use.

The congee cycle (porridge, they call it) works well and not just for that purpose. You can keep soup hot, etc. I notice that the manual advises against this but I have done it many times.

Replacement parts can be ordered through the internet, if needed. The greatest risk I see is dropping and denting the cooking vessel. In a conventional unit, this might not make much difference but with induction the difference can be huge.

It works well for steaming, despite the concerns of those who opine that fuzzy logic cookers will not do so. You will, however, need to provide your own basket.

If you follow the recipes closely, the rice will always come out properly cooked and never crusted on the bottom. I've not had a single failure and I cook and eat lots of rice.

The cooker has amazing versatility. Steel cut oats for breakfast...yummmmm

Overall, it reeks of quality. That may be of greater importance to some than to others.

CONS

The stainless finish is an extra cost and essentially the same model can obtained in white for a bit less. Zojirushi NP-KAC10 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker and Warmer with Induction Heating System

Induction heating consumes a bit more energy than conventional heating. Not a lot, but some.

The cost is high. A conventionally heated unit that works almost, but not quite, as well can be had much cheaper. Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 5-1/2-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and Warmer, Premium White

Retractable cord would have been nice. Mine stays plugged in all the time because I use it so often but others might find the cord a bit of a nuisance.

OVERALL

Highly recommended. This is the best non-pressure rice cooker on the market, hands down. The sweet taste of perfectly prepared rice dishes will last long after the bitterness of the price has faded. If you want a pressure rice cooker, Zoji has those, too, but the price is even steeper. Zojirushi NP-HTC Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker & Warmer Color: Stainless Brown, 5.5 cups / 1.0 liter

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Zojirushi NP-HBC10 5-1/2-Cup (Uncooked) Rice Cooker and Warmer

Reliable, easy to clean, and nicely sized for 2 4 people. We've done everything from rice to buckwheat to millet to the best oatmeal I've ever had in my life. The induction cooker really does make a difference and we get wonderfully evenly cooked rice. And the timer function is a lifesaver, especially in the morning.

The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish there were cool-touch handles on the bowls, but the rice is easy to extract and this is a minor complaint. Also, one reason we got this instead of a cheaper Zoji was because of the GABA rice capability, but if you want to save the $$ there are directions on how to make GABA rice just by soaking the rice ahead of time.

Do buy it with the Ultimate Rice Cooker Cookbook if you're planning to do anything more than rice in addition to recipes, the book is great for giving water-to-grain ratios for just about any grain or legume.

I bought this chiller thinking that it would be great to chill things quickly when I forget to put wine in the fridge or if company comes over unexpectedly. WRONG, this unit is only good for keeping your already chilled wine cold or maintaining its current temperature. In the manual, they mention that your wine should already be cold since it can take hours to get it chilled using their unit. It is not good for quickly chilling anything at a moments notice. They should change the product description to reflect the true use/ability of this unit.

I made a trip to the local hardware store and purchased a 14 ga. grounded power supply cord, some 14 ga. wire nuts, and wired it for 120V as provided in the instructions that came with the unit. Setup was simple, as defined in the product description.
