The Dimplex Lincoln Bronze Feestanding Electric Stove is really nice. It shipped on time, no assembly required, no problems. Just plugged it in and turned it on. I love the bronze color. It does produce a warm heat for a small room, as advertised. Ours is outside on an enclosed porch. We are in Florida and on a cool night (50 degrees) it helps get the chill out of the air. I especially like the sturdiness and the realistic flames. The door opens and it looks real but is cool to the touch ... good for our granddaughter. Also, a plus, is you can choose heat or no heat with the flame. We got it on sale for $150 and the shipping was an additional $65. Still, it is hundreds less than at our local hardware store ...$400+. We have no complaints. As a matter of fact, I was looking to buy another one because my mother and father fell in love with it over the holidays, but it is now over $220 on amazon ... plus shipping. So, I am shopping around or waiting for this to go on sale again. Only one suggestion ... measure your area and look at the size of this. It is not big. I was hoping for a larger unit and just didn't take time to look carefully at the dimensions.

I purchased this firplace for my bedroom. Love the bronze finish, beautiful little fireplace ! Purchased the Dimplex Celeste cream colored stove for my living room. Both are quality made stoves. About a 30 dollar difference in my electric bill. You cant go wrong with Dimplex. Amazon had the best prices !!

Honest reviews on Dimplex North America DS5629BR Traditional Electric Stove, Bronze

We bought this stove for supplemental heat in our sun room. It is a nice looking stove, and it worked fine for about 2 weeks. Then it stopped generating heat. The owners manual states that if the unit overheats, it will shut down, and to reset the stove by turning it off for 5 minutes and turn it back on. If the problem persists, call Dimplex Customer Service. I don't see how it could have overheated, but I tried that and it didn't work.

The problem is Customer Service is only open 8:00 to 4:30 EST, Monday thru Friday, and when you call you get put on hold for the "next available technical service representative". I was on hold for over an hour twice and never got closer than caller number 11. The number went down by one about every 10 minutes. So either no one is answering the phone and the number went down as others in front of me gave up, or they are woefully understaffed.

I understand that problems happen. That's okay if the company stands behind their product and makes it right. It's obvious that customer service is not a priority at Dimplex. If that's important to you, I would not recommend buying any Dimplex product.

Just received my new Dimplex yesterday. Got it unboxed and set up by myself. It is terrific. Heated up my living room in a matter of minutes, my dog even loves it she laid down right in front of it. I would definitely recommend this stove to anyone. Thumbs up on this one. Thank you

Delivering mail in my postal vehicle in the summertime in Florida gets kinda warm...can you spell H-A-D-E-S? The little fan that is installed in our trucks doesn't provide much relief and has limited range so for years I've been buying the clip-on fans sold at Wally World only to have each and every one blow a fuse or break within a month or so. The specified fuses on these junkers are impossible to find and replacements that were recommended at Radio Shack would blow almost immediately. But those fans were the only ones I could find locally so this year I decided to try something else and ordered this Tornado Fan and so far (about a month) I'm very happy with it. YES it is loud at high speed but the postal vehicle's built in fan is very loud as well so thats a wash as far as I'm concerned. The variable speed on the Tornado fan means you can adjust it to your liking and quickly turn it down to a relative whisper when you need to. There is a non-adjustable version of this fan but for a couple extra bucks in my opinion you get much more usability with that variable speed. If you listen to the radio in your vehicle the noise may be too much but if you're just working and driving and humming your own tunes this fan will help you be more comfortable.

This fan is very efficient and powerful, but makes a loud sound like a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner. I am a trucker so the sound doesn't bother me, but my friends hate it.

This fan is very popular with truck drivers who need to defrost their windshield in super icy conditions (turn heater on full blast, blow heat from dash/upper vents all over windshield, roll windows to regulate)

This fan has probably saved my life a couple times in Colorado for that, when the wipers ice up, you are screwed! Sometimes its so cold window wash doesn't help So this worked!

The pros:

works very efficiently, has dial to turn down the noise at lower speeds

The cons: Motor is cheap, may require removing and lubricating motor over lifetime of product,

NOISE

vibration

plastic mounting attachment breaks eventually before the fan gives out. (I make my own bracket then)

Keep kids fingers out of there, it will break them.

If you have no car AC, this will help you out for $20.

I can't for the life of me imagine someone being able to try this first, then one of the dozen or so alternatives, then purchasing this. I can best compare it to my red TORO 110/120 volt leaf blower in noise output. It simply doesn't need to be this loud. Only positive attributes are its compact form factor and strong clip. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, or wish to soon be that way, this product is for you. Otherwise keep looking or you can buy mine at my next garage sale. I turned it on and then put it in a drawer and it's been there since.

Honest reviews on RoadPro RPSC-857 12-Volt Tornado Fan with Removable Mounting Clip

This fan is bigger than you think. It's 11" tall, 8" deep and 5" wide.

You can clip it on to something or bolt it down permanently (hardware included). It aims wherever you want it.

I like it, glad I bought it. It doubles as a hair dryer or tent dryer on camping trips!

This fan moves and unbelievable amount of air, but when people say its *loud*..... On the highest setting it's probably going to be unbearable to most people. I have a high tolerance for noise and noisy equipment (construction) but this fan is LOUD, even to me.

On high, the RoadPro Turbo Fan easily drowns out the sounds of my 350 V8 engine, headers, dual exhaust, AND my 38" mud tires. My stereo can't even do that ;)

This fan does what is expected for a small DC plugged fan. I bought 3 others, and this one probably puts out more air flow than all 3 combined.

A year ago I got into a bit of a "emergency preparedness" mode, and among other things, bought one of these devices, installed it in my water heater pan and then forgot all about it.

At 12:30 a.m. a couple of nights ago, an alarm began ringing. I had no idea what it was, except that it wasn't a smoke detector (not as loud as that) but after wandering around the house for a bit, I followed the sound to the basement and found a small amount of water in the water heater pan. The alarm turned off as soon as I pulled the sensors out of the water.

It was soon obvious this was no small leak. Over the next 12 hours until we got the water heater replaced, we easily bailed 30 or more gallons of water out of the bin we placed to catch the overflow from the pan.

Had the alarm not sounded, it could have been 24 hours or more before the leak was noticed. The basement storage room where the water heater is located, and the adjoining (carpeted) rec room would have been flooded, requiring a major effort to dry them out and damage/destruction of a number of items. Drying out the basement to prevent mold would have required the rental of some high-powered dehumidifiers (been there, done that).

This item did exactly what it was supposed to do. After reading some of the reviews indicating some lack of reliability, I may well install a couple of extras in the basement as backup, and putting some in other locations, such as under/near the washing machine, under sinks, and under the dishwasher, seems like a good idea.

Important tip learned during the water heater replacement:

The expansion tank intalled with the water heater has a shorter life span than the heater itself, and when it fails, the pressure from expansion of heating water then causes damage to the water heater tank itself, shortening its life. To test whether the expansion tank has failed, tap along the side of the tank starting from the bottom. There should be a noticeable change of pitch between the bottom (which contains the bladder full of water) and the top, which should contain air. If it sounds the same all the way up, the bladder has failed and the entire expansion tank has filled with water, preventing it from doing its job of relieving pressure in the water heater tank. Replacing the expansion tank is much cheaper than replacing both it and the heater, and may keep your heater going for years longer.

The Water Alarm also has a 6-foot sensor wire, so that you can extend the sensor into a sump pump, or the alarm will sound before water spills out onto the floor. The alarm plugs into the wall plus has a 9 Volt battery backup. We use ours for the sump pump & it works wonderfully!

When the alarm goes off...we pull up on the sump pump floater string & the sump pump starts right away and the alarm turns off right away.

The alarm is loud. Our house is a ranch style, a bit over 1,100 sq ft...the sump pump is in the basement...opposite corner than our bedrooms on the main floor...I could still hear the alarm going off in the middle of the night.

This item works as it says it will, I'd purchase this item again. We purchased our's at a major hardware store in our area for about $10

Why is this better than Leak Frog:

1) 5-yr run time on each battery, provided that battery's expiry date is not earlier than that. Leak Frog? 1 yr. Maybe 2~3 yrs if you use Li batteries (my assumption only see my Leak Frog comment).

2) $9.95 @ my local hardware store and this is widely available. Leak Frog? Almost $15 now and seems like it's Amazon's exclusive offering.

3) Audibly louder than Leak Frog.

4) No screwdriver needed for battery compartment door, Leak Frog needs screwdriver to access that supposedly annually too! I dislike.

5) Slender form factor makes it easier to snug in underneath fridge and dishwasher.

6) Remote (if desired) sensor placement within 6' makes it super versatile. I inserted this remote sensor far deep underneath my fridge with ease. Leak Frog? Where it is located is where it senses.

7) Less toyish look I didn't pay a premium for the latest stainless appliances so that I can place a green toy there in plain sight. I wish that the Watchdog was black (or stainless) and smaller than this, but this is still acceptable.

8) 5-yr manufacturer's warranty. Leak Frog's 1 yr.

9) Leak Frog maker seems to be a one hit wonder. This one's mother company makes a wide assortment of other basement flood prevention goodies. This seems more pro.

I already own 4 Leak Frogs & now 2 Watchdogs, I still need at least 2 more water alarms, I'll get the Watchdog from now on...

Honest reviews on Glentronics, Inc. BWD-HWA Basement Watchdog Water Sensor and Alarm

I bought 2 of these from Lowe's today for $13.58 (model BWD-HWA). Each requires a 9 volt battery, has a 6 foot sensor wire and a 5 year warranty, although no guarantee it will work. It can stand alone or be attached to a wall with the sensor wire extended. The sensor wire can be spliced up to 100 feet, if you supply the wire. It's also claimed that the alarm sounds up to 3 days.

This thing needs to be in a puddle of water (1/32" minimum) to work because it has 2 sensors on the bottom that need electrical current flow between them the water being the conductor. It's not going to sense drops of water, but it should work in a flood situation where water is covering the floor.

I tested the ones I bought and they do work in a puddle, but the alarm needs to be a bit louder. It claims to be 110 decibels, and if that's true, then it's louder than most similar alarms.

It has a constant (non beeping) high pitch sound similar to a smoke detector but not nearly as loud. It can be heard if not too far away, but to be effective, it should be heard everywhere in the house and waken you while asleep. So depending on your hearing, the size of your house and where you are when it sounds, it may work well for you. However, none of these devices work if you can't hear them.

Should one of these devices fail, it would be wise to place more than one where a lot of flooding could occur and cause major damage to your house. Where your washing machine is located is a prime candidate.

I installed this in my sump pump basin. Over the winter condensation collected to the extent that it set off the alarm. This happened twice. The contacts should have been designed to dangle separately from a support. The support collected the moisture causing the two contacts to complete the alarm's circuit.

There is no switch to turn off the alarm so while it is screaming LOUDLY you have to take the battery out. I don't know why it didn't stop after I dried the moisture from the contacts.

Replaced my burnt-out defrost heater. Product arrived in the original GE box. Installed easily, works as it is supposed to. This unit has the defrost switch and harness attached, so there is literally no fiddling around with splices or such, just unplug the old one and plug this in. Whole repair cost less than 1/3 what it did to have a repairman do it the last time.

There seems to be some confusion in general about which heater you get. My unit originally had a single tube defroster, which GE has deprecated in favor of a 2-tube unit that fits in its place. I actually thought I was getting the 2-tube, but instead got the original 1-tube. Easier for me, but the 2-tube might last longer. GE supposedly changed units so the energy density in the tubes would be lower, for longer life.

This item was 66 bucks locally. I replaced the same part in my beer fridge 3 years ago. This looks to be from a different manufacturer so it could last longer, the original one in the fridge lasted about 9 years. Hopefully this will last at least that long. Cant beat the price tho!

We order an recieved the part in about four days an was saved a wopping $295.00 Will recomend Amozon to all my friends was 100% satisfied. Thanx Amazon!

The towel warmer installed easily and is very solid. It isn't cheap looking or feeling. It actually looks very nice. BUT I am disappointed at the warming ability. I expected the towels to be nice and toasty when I get out of the shower. But they are just slightly warm and really only right in the center where the towel folds over the bar. I put the towel on the bar the night before and have tried snaking it through the warming bars every way I can but the towel is still only marginally warm. So while it is nice to have and looks great in the bathroom I renovated, I am disappointed in the performance. If I had it to do over, I guess I would spend a little more and get a bigger towel warmer that would warm the towels up better.

Purchased this heater a few weeks ago. Easy to install, simple hose extention and brass nipple along with a low pressure regulator. Took more time finding the parts at the store than actually hooking it all up.

Make sure you wrap all threads with pipe tape prior to tightening, and test the connections for leaks (dishsoap and water mixture...leak will blow bubble). After all properly tightened, fire it up!

Thoughts on the heater: puts out an enormous amount of heat, especially for price. Does not come with feet, so it needs to be wall mounted, feet purchased, or some kind of stand fabricated so it is off the floor surface. I used 2 cinder blocks. Pretty stable, but I plan on getting feet of some kind for tip prevention.

Draw back: radiant head pretty much goes straight up, so if you are like me and work in a non insulated garage with open rafters, most of your heat will be leaving the work shop. However, you can get the attachable fan, or just use a tall oscillating fan on low to evenly spread the warmth.

**side note** everywhere I could read, this unit is said to be used with no less than a 100lb propane tank. While this might be true if you are using this heater in place of a regular home furnace, or you are keeping your garage regulated at a certain temperature; I am currently running off of a 20lb bbq grill tank with no issue. I leave it on for 1-2 hours and have not yet had any freeze up issues from over drawing the tank.

I bought this as backup heat for the winter and had it installed in my fireplace this is a really good heater. Looks nice in my den.The ad says it is for a garage but I had it placed in my den fireplace and it looks really nice. You cannot leave the pilot on as it will heat your house up.My house is 1550 sq.ft. so I believe it will heat the whole house in the event we have a power failure as I only got it for backup anyway. Great looking heater will most definetly buy this heater again.Have already recommend it to family members.

Honest reviews on ProCom Dual Fuel Vent-Free Blue Flame Garage Heater - 30,000 BTU

Purchased in mid-October 2012 to replace wood stove and 30+years old forced-air furnace (although instructions caution the unit is not to be used as primary heat source), installed mid-November. Ordered white/no blower, got black. Roughly $250 for the stove, $200 for independent/retired/laid-off contractor installation: Two of three natural gas appliance installers said they "don't touch them" (meaning small gas heaters generally) for vague reasons; natural gas supplier's sub-contractor half again as expensive. Hung the unit on the living room wall myself (single/divorced female, 62); hanging took maybe an hour, gas hookup involved 4 hours (mostly in/out of the basement to cut/thread heavy-iron piping on threader set up in the driveway).

Home is a roughly 1300 square-feet (one large bedroom, one very small bedroom converted to walk-in closet/storage upstairs), 200-year-old fieldstone farmhouse--some new windows and attic protection but, for all intents, uninsulated. Half the downstairs (4 rooms/~800 square feet) heated in Michigan winter. Purchased unit precisely *as* primary heat source.

Unit's been up/running for a little over two weeks with outside temperatures/weather ranging from low 50's to mid-teens/20's with wind/rain/snow. Thermostat dial offers settings 1-6; set it on mid-2 for more-than-adequate heat through living room/bedroom/kitchen/bath with aide of ceiling fan in living room. No doubt whatever that it will handle a Real Michigan Winter.

Unit is attractive (actually prefer the black), unobtrusive, virtually silent. Slight odor of gas as thermostat/flame kicks on/off. No hard cool-down/heat-up of rooms like the old forced-air "blast" furnace; heat is as radiant/consistent as a wood stove without the work (which I loved when I could do it) and mess of wood. With the gas line piping in place, replacement, if ever necessary, would amount to the cost of a new unit.

Unit has not been in operation long enough to require cleaning. Waiting for first gas bill.

So far, I have no criticism of this unit whatever. It is perfectly lovely.

UPDATE 01/01/2013

First natural gas bill covered roughly 3 weeks' use, was easily half what the old furnace would have used/cost. Wall behind and 4-6" immediately above the mounted heater stays surprisingly cool, wall above that gets very warm but not too hot to touch/blister paint/be dangerous. Am considering purchase of another while price is reasonable.

I. love. this. heater.

UPDATE 03/22/2013

BACKGROUND FROM 10/2012: Home is a roughly 1300 square-feet (one large bedroom, one very small bedroom converted to walk-in closet/storage upstairs), 200-year-old fieldstone farmhouse--some new windows and attic protection but, for all intents, uninsulated. Half the downstairs (4 rooms/~800 square feet) heated in Michigan winter. Purchased unit precisely *as* primary heat source.

TODAY, 3/22/2013: Nearly through first Michigan winter with this heater as only heat source. Thermostat dial offers settings from 1 to 6; have never set above high-2/the line between 2 and 3. Have to set at lowest setting when outside temperatures reach 30-degrees. Operation is dependable, takes 1/2-hour or so to heat house from dead-cold, flame/heat is even and consistent. Haven't had to clean jets; will do that at the end of the season. The only nuisance has been a slight pale grey dusty residue/deposit noticeable on dark woodwork--byproduct of ventless natural gas combustion; it's probably on walls/drapes too but they're white/beige, cleaned every spring anyway. No noticeable condensation whatever. Haven't purchased second unit yet--may not need to except as backup/replacement *in case* anything goes wrong next year. Again/still: I. love. this. heater!

I bought this ProCom black garage heater online from Northern Tool in October, 2011. I knew how to hook up gas appliances, so it wasn't difficult to install this. We installed it on our living room hearth after taking the gas logs out of the fireplace. Bought the BrassCraft hook-up kit from Home Depot. Also got the "feet" from Northern Tool (they were white, so I painted them black). Since this heater's on the hearth, we leave the fireplace vent slightly open for the little bit of needed ventilation required by this heater. The heater cycles on and off flawless, smoothly and quietly. With the heater set between 2 and 3, it keeps about 800 square feet at 67 degrees when it's in the 30s outside. Very comfortable heat. We don't run it when we're sleeping or when we're not at the house. Very pleased with this heater. Will easily save us $40 per month.

We received an ecoquest safehearth heater for Christmas in 2008. My mother-in-law purchased one for her and one for my family. They worked well for the for the 3 to 4 months that we used them during the cold weather. I plugged mine in for the first time this winter and it will not will kick on, when it does it blows cold air. My mother-in-laws is doing the same thing. I called the company but since it is out of waranty, there is nothing that can be done to fix my unit. According the rep. from ecoquest, they do not service this unit, if it goes bad during warranty the company will simply send you a replacement, after that, you are on your own. Not only can they not repair the machine, they do not sell the parts so that someone else can. My mother in law paid $800 for two units and both of them are useless. Think twice about purchasing this heater, what a joke for customer service!!!!!!!!

We have had this heater for two years and use it every day 6-7 months of the year in our very chilly basement. We love the timer, the fact that it will maintain a certain temperature in a room and that it is safe for our children and pet. I do understand that the warranty has changed since we bought the unit. The dealer we bought it from told us that. That doesn't change the fact that we have had zero problems with this unit and we are very pleased with the safety and performance.

I don't own one of these units, but do own an Eden-Pure (a competitor). To the person who wrote that their 2 Safehearth heaters no longer work, try this: make SURE the filter for incoming air is clean. When these filters are dirty there is a sensor that doesn't allow the heat to come on (to prevent the unit from overheating internally) and the unit will then only blow cold air. Also, if you happen to have a very dusty environment try to clean further inside the unit (when it is unplugged), and try to clean the filters at least once a week. Hope this helps.

My mom bought me one of these overpriced behemouths and I hate it. It is so noisy I cannot stand to use it at night. When you want to turn it off it has to 'cool down' so it takes five minutes for it to turn off when you flip the switch. It does heat but not much better than any fifty dollar space heater you can buy online. Waaaaaaaaay overprices and I hate the Ecoquest company because there in not ONE PRODUCT my mom has bought from them that hasn't broken in a month or less. So far these heaters work, but if what a previous reviewer said is true that they can't service them, it is criminal to be selling these large things for them only to wind up in a landfill because they can't be serviced! Not very Ecofriendly! I think they should change the company name! All their products quickly become obsolete and wind up in landfills. They brainwash their dealers like a religion and perpetuate these lackluster products on them making them waste thousands of their own dollars on products that may intially work, but then require way to much servicing before they become obsolete and the company encourages you to scrap the old ones and buy their much 'new and improved' products. One of the biggest scam companies out there. I know because my mom is a dealer and they prey on their dealers.
