It took me awhile to find a small portable heater that would turn itself on at a specific time as well as turn itself off at a specific time. Most portable heaters had timer shutoffs but required you to first turn them on. My goal was simple, warm up the bathroom before I got up in the morning. This Delonghi Model filled the bill. The timer mechanism which turns the heater on and off is accurate and reliable. The thermostat also works accurately and reliably to maintain a very even heat.

It took a little experimentation to determine how long the heater had to run at the various heat settings to warm up the approx 10X10 bathroom so I knew when to have it cut on to raise the temperature to the desired level for my early morning wakeup trip. Long story made short, it works quite well in achieving the desired result... I have it set to turn on two hours before I get up and the bathroom is, as a result, toasty enough each morning. I should disclose that the heater operates in a bathroom with a 12' ceiling which is a bit taller than the typical 8' ceiling more commonly found...it requires a longer warm up time as a result. I can also report that the heater is totally silent. The only sounds I've ever heard are some very light tapping sounds of very short duration when it first comes on and up to temperature(tis the nature of applying heat to metal). Same thing happens when it shuts off and begins to cool down. I should emphasize that these sounds are very subtle and of short duration. Barely noticeable.

I have read some other comments regarding an odor emission. I noticed the same thing the first couple of times it was used but absolutely nothing since. I'm sure it was some kind of protective coating they apply to the surface at time of manufacture. In any case, with the exception of it's initial break-in, no odors since.

Summary: Very pleased with the performance of this space heater for my purpose. It's not designed or built to heat large areas but is quite effective and efficient in heating modestly sized areas. I really like the convenience of automatic turn on and off, which by the way can easily be suspended or readjusted as necessary. Because it is of the convection type design it provides a very even heating without the hot spots the small forced air heaters can generate. I would deem it safe to use around children and pets as well. No extremely hot exposed surfaces and has the required safety shutoff mechanisms if the unit should ever get knocked over.

Read a lot of good things about this heater. Not all of it was true. I gave 3 stars as the features are good, it quiet and does give off decent heat for medium rooms. I live in MI, winter is a bear at times, and when trying to save cost, this is a good heater for a medium to small room (10x10). Unit will struggle and you will be cool to cold in a room much over 10 x 15 unless you can really close off the room well. Would not recommend this for someone that likes it toasty and has a large room, this would just take the nip out if that.

It works well for a small bedroom but don't use it for a living room. Also, I tried to carry it one day while it was cold and dropped it with the bottom facing down. Because they're made of cheap plastic, two of the casters broke! Only one side has a handle, not the onther side, so it was easy to slip from my hand and drop. Finally, you should know that while the unit does work, it takes several hours to heat a room up.

I bought this from this vendor in December 2010. The color is a light cream color. It comes with a 3/8" elbow flare fitting. The gas line in the fireplace had a 3/8" flare fitting. The supply line is a 24" from HD, for under $20. Mr Heater recommends not putting the unit in an enclosed space, such as in the fireplace, so I put it on the hearth. The unit has a fan with an on off switch, and the fan comes on when the unit is warmed up. The fan has one speed and is as loud as the microwave. I only used the fan a couple of times, opting instead for the ceiling fan on low in reverse. The unit has a pilot light that is lit with a battery (included) powered igniter. The pilot is easy to light and I turn it off when not using the heater. The thermostat goes from 1 to 5, with 1 being about 55 degrees, and 3 being about 70 degrees. The amount of gas is not adjustable by the heater, but it can be turned down with the gas valve built into the fireplace. I added a photo that shows the heater running with the gas turned down by the fireplace gas valve. This allows the heater to run all day and keep the room at a constant temperature without cycling on and off.

The good: Very low cost for a lot of heat. Fan and floor mounts are included. With ventless, all the heat generated stays in the room. Infra red radiant heat is warm. You might want to search on high intensity gas heaters. The infra red heater allows us to turn the house thermostat way down, and have the same comfort in the family room that we would get by sitting in the sun on a cold day.

The bad: Ventless has a combustion smell. I got a slight head ache for the first two weeks after running the unit at full power. Either I got used to it, or the newness burned off. The unit is not as attractive as a gas log insert.

These heaters are supposed to cause condensation, and we were hoping for an increase in humidity, but the house is still in the dry range at 30%.

I bought this heater as an experiment. I had a $4,000 gas insert installed in my last house with excellent results, and installed the same item in this house, but it was a dud. I wanted to test my expectations whether a 40,000 btu vented gas insert with 75% efficiency generated the same comfort as a 30,000 btu infra red ventless. The big difference is the radiant heat. The infra red ventless generates more comfort. It feels like a roaring fire, but does not look like one. I still wanted the ventless to eliminate the smell, and asked three insert manufacturers to provide any a test results they have for their units for radiant heat, but got no answers. My conclusion is that the inserts look pretty, and they generate the same kind of heat as the house heater, but they don't do radiant. I'll enjoy the warmth, live with the smell, and keep $3,800 in my pocket.

I bought & posted the LP version of this unit after reviewing the comments/opinions of this NG unit as well...figured I would post a copy as they are basically the same unit, only using a different 'flavor' of fuel! ;) ALL info is completely relevant, just keep in mind the 'LP (propane) specific comments are directed @ this units' LP twin-brother!

Recently experienced some winter power outages & realized a dire need for some 'peace-of-mind' during any future episodes! Consequently, this came in handy yesterday 12-19-2011, when the furnace happened to fail out! I am in the White Mountain range, and it was only 9 degrees when this happened; this little guy kept us from freezing to death, literally! BTW, i am in a 2000+ sq. foot home, 2 level, so even though that's much more space than this one is actually capable of heating, the heat naturally moved upstairs & throughout the house & kept it 'livable', regardless! ;) This unit provides more than enough heat to 'camp-out' & survive a no-heat situation comfortably for probably up to 1000sq. feet in a pinch, if it's not too, TOO cold out! ;) The heater does EXTREMELY well, is VERY efficient (around 99.7%!), and a perfect emergency-type or 'supplemental' heating source. It is NOT recommended as a primary heat source as it is NOT vented and even illegal for use in some states (Massachusetts) because of this, so check w/ your state laws 1st before ordering...Note: this unit should NOT be used in a bathroom or bedroom, only a 'primary' (and open!) living space/quarters!...

When you order this heater, be sure to get an appropriate regulator assembly/hose to go with it, as the pressure needs to be 'stepped-down' to 11-13WC, or around 1/2 to 1 PSI in normal human speaking terms! ;) It is NOT meant to be connected directly to the LP gas supply (like you would a natural gas system) without incoming gas pressures first being regulated down; it will blow the valve system & would NOT be covered under any warranties! :P ...

As this unit is VENT-FREE...just for peace of mind for you 'worry-wart' type people (like me!), I would wholeheartedly recommend the use of a reputable carbon monoxide detector in the home this is to be used to protect you & your loved-ones from any dangers...the unit IS equipped w/ an ODS system, that will automatically shut the unit down if there not enough available oxygen (for you!) in the room it is operating, so that helps ease some worries!...Just so you know, my heater is operating in the downstairs 1000 sq. feet living space, in a 10x15 living-room, CO detector @ farthest wall from heater; it's a KIDDE Nighthawk digital CO detector Kidde KN-COPP-3 Nighthawk Plug-In Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Battery Backup and Digital Display (VERY good!) & has registered ZERO '0' ppm since firing up the heater in the same room! not too shabby! ;)...my detector also has the 'explosive gas' detector built in as well, which comes in REAL handy when dealing w/ LP (propane) gas, as it heavier than air, sinks low, & tends to 'pool' up in lower or enclosed spaces, just waiting for a spark! :O Natural gas is a lil' bit 'friendlier', 'cause when it leaks off, it is lighter than air, & tends to float up, intermingling w/ other air & usually finding places to dissipate & escape with other heated air leaving the home! ;)

Just a bit of info regarding a specific feature on this unit (and actually one of the reasons I chose this model over the other brands!) is a unique digital temperature readout display on the top right corner of the housing, where the thermostat control is located; you can see a pic of it in image two @ the top of the page...Well, this particular feature is NOT included with this unit. I have contacted Mr. Heater regarding this feature and why it is missing...they explained that, although it was a really nice feature to have, customers were 'getting confused' as to what it was & how it related to heater operation???...O-kaay?...so that feature has been omitted from ALL 2011 built units as of January, 2011. This includes ALL units, both LP and natural gas, infrared AND blue-flame units included; SO, if you really appreciated (& wanted!) this feature like I did, the only way to obtain it is to find a 2010 (last years model) unit in somebody's 'old-stock' in their warehouse...I have not had any leads...good luck! >:(

I suppose it's not that important, but I thought it was a handy & useful feature to have w/ a heater...I mean, practically ALL those little ceramic heaters now run on digital temp controls & readouts now too, right!?! :O Consequently, all the pics and descriptions for any of the newer 20-30k BTU units of this nature including the digital temps are incorrectly advertised & need to be updated as such to reflect the omission of this nifty lil' feature... :(

PROS:

VERY efficient

Fan unit INCLUDED with this model (costs $30-50 xtra charges w/ similar units!)

'Free-standing' feet INCLUDED w/ this model (also additional costs w/ others)

ELECTRONIC ignition; VERY nice, compared to the click, click, click push-button BBQ igniters (which rarely work half the time!)

very COZY, & nice radiant heat literally POURS from the face of this heater! :) warms the bones! ;)

very easy to hook up & start using, right outta-the-box!

NO electricity needed whatsoever for operation!...of course the blower wont operate, but it's a nice QUIET & COZY heat! :)

CONS:

Fan unit not very powerful, & slightly on the loud side, a little quieter than a hairdryer on 'low' setting; doesn't move much heat, but the radiant heat helps w/ that issue on it's own! ;) ...it CAN however be set to 'ON' or 'AUTO' or OFF! (which is nice when you don't want to hear it!), AND it is automagically turned on by heat & cuts out when the heater cools down, so no 'human-thought' required when using! :)

Has the ability to burn up fuel pretty quick if you leave it up 'high' for a quite awhile...of course it WAS only 10 degrees! bbbrrrr! :O

Unit REALLY stinks when you use it 1st time, burning off paints/oil/new stuff...recommend burning OUTSIDE for awhile HOT to burn off the bad smelling stuff & 'cure' the unit before indoor use (I didn't have a choice!) :(

Kinda misleading pics/description regarding the digital temp display feature, should be updated to reflect this issue

FYI...vent-free units are VERY efficient heaters, HOWEVER, one important snippet of knowledge that most don't know, or are not usually told about, is the fact that these types of heaters have the capacity to release up to a QUART (32oz) of water vapor into your house while in operation (burning); this is due to the fact that there is no venting for the exhaust gases to escape...hence your awesome efficiency is ALSO the culprit of unneeded water vapor...BUT, this is somewhat negated by the fact that a heater is most likely used in the Winter (cold!) months...humidity levels are usually alot lower in the Winter, and as a result, most people usually choose to add water to their homes (humidifiers, steam pots on the wood-stove, etc.)during these times anyway to help reduce chapped hands & lips, dry skin, & lowering the chance of catching a cold, sore throat or getting sick! So the extra moisture could actually be seen as a 'PRO' depending on how you view it!...too much moisture in the home can obviously be a problem as well! :P

...All in all, I find ALOT of positive benefits regarding this heater & it also works really well for what it was designed to do (possibly heating even better than it was rated by sq footage!)...I would totally recommend this heater for anyone needing a back-up emergency or supplemental heat source for not really alot of money @ all! Geez, very economical in fact compared to 'commercially' available installs/solutions! It's 'The Great Lil' Heater that Could!' & does the job very nicely, thank you!

Happy Holidays 2011 & stay WARM!!! ;)

I was a little doubtful about reviews when I bought this heater, but it is great heater! I use it in my garage and I barely have to turn the heat setting above 1. I can walk into my garage in the middle of winter, in which I live in Northeast ohio so it gets cold, and be in shorts and t-shirt and be comfortable! So far I have had it for 2 and 1/2 months and it has not really caused my gas bill to go up at all. I absolutely recommend this product for anyone out there, especially for the men who like to be in thier garage. You cant find a more affordable and efficient way to heat the garage!

Honest reviews on Mr. Heater 30,000 BTU Natural Gas Radiant Vent Free Heater

I was looking for a heater that had a built in thermostat and temperature display. I bought this heater to take the place of an old heater in my 1200 sq ft detached garage. The product description claims it has a 'adjustable thermostat' and also that 'Heater also has built in digital room temperature display'. To my dissatisfaction, this heater does not shut off when it reaches a set temperature. And it does NOT have a digital room temp display. There are 5 settings, lowest to highest.

The product seems to work fine and does a good job heating up the garage. I keep it on low and let it go to work. However, I find myself having to shut it off manually. Even at the low setting, my garage can get warmer than I'd like. And it doesn't stop putting out heat, which is a waste of energy.

I would recommend this product based on its ease of use and overall function. However, if you're looking for a heater that you can adjust and leave alone then this isn't the product for you.

The short of it is this heater works flawlessly and I can depend on it.

More details: The parts don't seem to be formed to fit well and the assembly was not the best so I was worried at first but it works flawlessly. Great design! I had another one that looked like it was made better but the pilot light kept going out if the fan came on and sometimes even if the fan was turned off so I could never depend on it from the day it was new. Very happy with this product and now I don't come home to a freezing house or worry about the pipes freezing and bursting if I travel. I'm not talking about parts hanging or falling off, just the details of the fit if you notice those things. Even the thermostat is more accurate and responds quicker than the other heaters I've had.

PS. I hope the time I spent doing this review has helped you the same way your reviews have helped me make better decisions. Thanks!

This heater is an excellent buy. There is really only two heat output settings. The "third" setting is the "econo" setting and really uses the two different heat settings based on temperature difference between the setting and the room. The fan is not to loud and not too quiet. It is perfect for background noise for sleeping. The safety cutoff switch when the unit tips over works just as described when I tested it. The displayed temperatue setting and other lights are fairly bright and bothered my wife when while we slept. I put a couple of layers of translucent tape over it and it took care of that problem. The stand does not have adjustable height. Ceramic heaters are also safer because their elements do not get glowing hot like most heating elements. When this is combined with the safety cutout, it is much safer than the older style units.

I purchased two of these units. One for a home office that is approximately 10 x 12 with 9 foot ceiling and the other one to be used in various other rooms of the house as needed. For the unit in the office, it is the perfect size and does a great job of keeping the room warm. I like the fact that the unit does not get hot to the touch if accidentally touched and that is is fairly quiet. It does have an "Econ" button on it which changes the fan speed from low to high as needed, a nice touch. It has a big bright display that is easy to read from anywhere in the room. Also comes with a handy remote control, not necessary, but a nice to have.

I did try the other unit in our family room which is a large 15 x 17 with 15 foot ceiling and the unit really did not warm the room at all, which I didn't expect it would. So know the limitations of the unit. Even still, in the big room the heater did take a slight chill out of the room, but not enough to justify it running non-stop for several hours.

The unit has a sleek modern design and does not take up much space. I'm really happy with the units.

Like every other DeLonghi heater I've owned (2 or 3), this one worked great, until it suddenly decided not to! With this particular model the fan just quit working, but the heater still heats up! I'm afraid it is going to catch fire! I've never had a DeLonghi heater last a full year. I'll never buy another one!

Honest reviews on DeLonghi TCH7090ER Safeheat 24 In. Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote

Michigan: We have an 1800sq ft house with a very open floor plan with central heat that works great except for our closed-off master bed/bath/closet that occupies about 400sq ft and there is a 10 degree difference in there on cold days. We insulated the attic to R60 and had foam injected into the walls, but it actually made my bedroom colder since the heat isn't running constantly now that we have proper insulation. The HVAC guy wanted to sell me on zoning, which is very expensive. So I bought this little heater to see if maybe that would work. It does, and it works great! I have it set up on our dresser, and I just set it to "ECO" mode at 70 degrees. It kicks on only when it needs to, and oscillates warm air around the room. It is very quiet and makes less noise than my tower fan does on low. I'm not sure how it would do if you were heating a room with no supplemental heat, but it works great for making up the difference to get my bedroom on par with the rest of the house. No more cold noses and cold feet at night! It doesn't take up a lot of room and it looks quite attractive. I am quite happy with this solution.

NEW FOUR STAR REVIEW (OLD 2 STAR REVIEW IS SHOWN BELOW):

I upgraded this product from 2 stars to 4 stars. I now like this product. I moved the location of this product away from the house heating vent (my husband had placed it in the corner near the house heater vent). Customer service also recommended that I unplug the unit to 'reset' it so now I turn it off and unplug it after each use. I have also had great temperature success using the ECO mode instead of the Level 1 mode. I set the device to 67 degrees, ECO mode, and oscillate and it keeps the room in a range between 65F-70F (when set at 67F). This range is acceptable to me. The oscillate mode still makes a slight clicking, but seems to smooth out after it has been in use for awhile. In any case, it does not seem to bother my daughter. Now I'm sleeping much better.

OLD TWO STAR REVIEW:

The first week, this product seemed to work nicely. I had it set to 68F and it seemed to come on and shut off with a +/3 degrees max difference from the setting (I have my own thermostat in the room). This week (week #2), I woke up at 4am and noticed that the temperature in my daughters room was 72 and the heater was still going (I had it set at 67F that night). Last night I was awake almost all night monitoring the temperature. I do not have confidence in the thermostat setting on the heater because it seems to not shut off even after the room is over 3 degrees from the setting (or even +5 degrees as I found out when it was set at 67F and the room was already at a hot 72F and the heater was still going). My daughters room isn't that big and I have a thermometer set on the opposite end of her room. Also, when the heater is on oscillate, it makes a slight clicking sound. The heater fan by itself is quiet. Another minus is that there is no confirmation light to show you if you've got the heater in oscillate mode. Sometimes I think I've got it on oscillate (by pressing the button), but when I check later, the heater is on without oscillating. There is no way to know if you've pressed the oscillate mode On or Off (no light for that). I would like to return this unit.

I bought this for a bathroom fart-fan that is downstairs and because of it's age is a tad noisy. Because the kids use the bathroom there is a tendency for them to leave the fan on for hours on end. This solved that problem.

I have wiring experience so installation was simple for me but anyone that can use a screwdriver and pliers can install this. I looked at the timers that are longer but figured 5 minutes was long enough. The switch itself is robust and installed in my double switch box without problems. I needed the pliers to straighten the wires out. Total installation time was about 5 minutes 2 of which were spent making sure I turned off the correct breaker.

Luckily, the timer is very simple and robust.

It was unfortunate that the unit supplied did not have any screws for the terminals and did not switch at all.

On opening it up it was clear that the unit had not been assembled well. The fault was easily fixed.

I suspect that this unit had been returned stock which got mixed up with good new stock.

When working, the timer is quite robust and reasonably accurate.

I've owned this unit for 2 years and it runs 24/7 from around May through September. Other than cleaning the air filter there is no maintenance, and the unit will turn just about any room into an ice box. I originally purchased the unit for an upstairs room with western exposure that would just be unbearably hot during the summer. This unit turned it into the coolest and most pleasant room in the house.

It is a large and heavy unit, and a bit noisy if you plan to sleep in the room with it. But we did get used to the noise, and it was certainly a fair trade off for the comfort it provided. I would not hesitate for a second to purchase this unit again, and when summer rolls around I am so thankful that we have it. Very well built and efficient cooler.

I have had this unit for 3 years and it has performed very well.Even though the portable ones aren't supposed to be as good, we got this as it was well rated at the time. It has vents that go up and down to move the cold air around. It is powerful and gets the room very cold. I am sure it would cool an area 3 times the room I have it in easily. You can program it to a specific temperature. You can set it on dehumidify. It shuts down if the water chamber needs to be emptied and that can happen several times on very humid days but I just put a shallow pan under it and pull the plug to drain it. It has a good solid vent hose and a washable filter that is easy to get to. I have a slider window so I can't mount a permanent AC unit and also it is not my house so this is a great solution. It is a way to change the area you want to cool also. It is heavy and large but is on wheels and it's not whisper quiet but it is basic white noise and easy to sleep through. When not in use in the winter empty and clean and cover it to keep out dust. Store in a warm dry place or mold can grow in air conditioners when they aren't in use. If needs cleaning consult a pro to avoid damaging condenser.

I love this product. It has 4 modes (Cool, Fan, Dry and Energy Saver) and all of them work perfectly! I'm using it in my bedroom which is big and it lowers the temperature to 60F in any of its modes. I got it one month ago and so far, I haven't had any real problem with it. The only thing is that the water container gets full every 20 minutes approximately, when the humidity is around 78% so I would like this container a little bit bigger.

Honest reviews on LG LP1200dxr 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner

Best unit ever! I bought this for my bedroom and to give my dog some relief while I am at work. I am a total internet junkie and feel like I am really good at researching online, I was nervous because this was the first AC unit I have ever purchased and most reviews of portable AC units most were not that encouraging. Works so good I am considering moving this unit to my livingroom and getting a smaller unit for my bedroom with less BTU's, I will stick to LG units since I've had good results with this one.

Pros:

1. Super cold! My room is between 200-300 sq ft I leave my door open to the hall/ living room and my bedroom room is like an ice box within minutes, temp set at 64. Sometimes I rig a regular oscillating fan in front of my bedroom door and it will drag the cool air to the living room.

2.There is an "energy saving" option. The temperature will regulate itself, great to be able to leave it on when I am at work and come back to a cooled down room.

3.I have not had to worry about emptying out the water tray at all and I ran the unit continuously last summer.

4.The self cleaner mode is awesome.

Cons:

1.Electric cord is too short. I do not have many outlet options in my apartment and since the cord is so short it's pretty much stationed to one outlet that barely reached a window for the exhaust.

FYI: I have the old school crank windows that open left to right that force me to leave the window open all the time for the exhaust to exit. I had a piece of thick plexi glass cut to the size of my window with a 6x6 inch square cut out of one corner so the exhaust can escape. I replaced my screen with the plexi glass to comp for the window remaining open. I have security bars on my windows to I wasn't worried about safety. Just in case anyone else has this issue.

I got this portable air conditioner to cool the second floor of my one and a half story bungalow. I only have to run it for 2 or 3 hours in the evening to get the second floor bedroom nice and cool for sleeping. It is a little loud, but it is basically white noise and very easy for me to tune out. It is necessary to drain the water once every few days into a shallow pan (it's the only thing that will fit under the lower drain), but you don't need a way to let it drain while it is running. When the water tank gets full, it shuts itself off, so no mess to clean up. It is also very easy to fit the exhaust vent into the window when I want air conditioning and take it out when I want fresh air. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. It does exactly what I wanted it to.

Product works well, it is the second one I bought. I use to control heat in spaces that had no heat before. In the winter, I set the thermostat so pipes won't freeze.

Honest reviews on Cadet #08734 120/240v White Thermostat

This is a very basic non-programmable thermostat that install easily on the Cadet baseboard heater (and not the wall). The double pole version actually will let you shut off the heater the single pole does not provide that capability. The setting is on a trial-error basis as there is no temp markings. I could not find a heater mountable programmable unit. The included installation instructions are not as good as the ones that come with the baseboard heater itself!

I just had the electrician install this. Apparently this thermostat is attached on the baseboard heater itself (so 1 thermostat per heater), so one will have to bend down to turn it on. I had thought this thermostat was hung on the wall, but I was wrong. We had 1 heater/thermostat unit installed in our freezing downstairs hallway (in Boston!) and in the downstairs bath. They both seem to be working well, but the real test will be next winter.

I have a house that was built in the 50's. It's got an old Beckett oil furnace. When the burner was on the fire was cutting out for a fraction of a second and then burning again. (it even sounds like it's cutting in and out) This was getting increasingly worse to the point where it would cut out for a full second. I don't know anything about oil furnaces so I looked it up online and learned the basics of the oil furnace parts and what they did. After reading about someones account of problems similar to mine and that he solved it by replacing the filter I decided to take a wrench to my fiter and see what I could figure out. It turns out that the filter is real easy to remove. Do a search online so that you can figure out what the filter housing looks like. Take a wrench to the large center bold which lowers the bottom part of the filter and once loose, it can be lowered all the way and removed.

I actually fixed my furnace by wiping the old filter element clean. It was covered in black goo. I just checked Amazon and found these filters at a really reasonable price so I just ordered 2 of them. The next time my furnace starts acting up I'm just going to replace that old filter with one of these new ones. When I described my problem to a furnace repair man he wanted $100 just to come out to take a look at my furnace. So, I just saved myself a lot of money. I also read that it's recommended to replace this filter once a season.

By the way. Because of the way my filter is mounted above the fuel line, when I removed the filter the fuel in the fuel line leaked back toward the fuel tank. When putting the filter back on I filled it with kerosene so that there wouldn't be any air in it but when I was done I aparently had a large air bubble in the fuel line. After about 20 seconds of the furnace running with no fire I remembered to press the burner reset button. The first time I pressed it the burner fired up for a few seconds then cut out. The second time I pressed it my burner lit back up and ran fine.

About your oil funace,I have ben working on them for 30yrs.When you take out the filter have a new one to replace it.Also when you filled the oil filter

container. you have a wrench the size of the air bleeder,on oil pump, just like disk brakes.(but it's on the bottom)

put a container under it. Then as soon as the furnace kicks on, open the bleed

fitting until oil starts coming out,not just foam, that's mostly air.But as soon as pure oil comes out, close the fitting and and furnace should light off right away.A tip try and do this 1 day after a delivery, because of level of oil in tank is higher, and waiting a day lets sediment settle and will get trapped by filter.yearly maint. includes checking if electrodes are worn out, some are adjustable. Also if you have a old furnace, you can save money by haveing a new high speed burner put in.also if you ever change your furnace stick with oil.Iused to do boiler efficiency tests oil can get upto 97%,gas like 89%

You can always pay $50 or $100 worth of oil to any company to hold you over.

Also if changing the furnace get a cold start boiler and a 40 gal amtrol hw heater, wired for priority HW,shuts off heat when taking a shower. Also the boiler will never come on unless you need it.Unlike old boilers even new ones that have the HW coil inside, which means your oil furnace, must stay at 180 degrees no matter what.Waste of oil. Hoped that helped.ps if your beckett burner has a cad cell the red button will be on burner,if not old furnaces use a bimetal safety, which must be cleaned anually,(shut off power remove stack switch and just use a hand wire brush, take the soot off, tht's what is causing it to malfuntion, soot is insulatin the bi metal safety)usually can only get at holding screw thru top of boiler right above safet stack switch. If it doesn't sense heat in 15 to 30 seconds will shut down furnace. the newer ones has a fire-eye sensor under the the transformer that can get dirty too, just wipe clean.

Samsung WF330ANW 3.7 cu. ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer Reviews

Samsung WF330ANW 3.7 cu. ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer - White

When my 5 year old Maytag top loader washer crapped out, I decided to replace my 18 year old dryer as well. I Purchased the matching set of Samsung 330 washer and dryer. If I knew then what I know now, I would have purchased these front loaders a few years ago.

I did a lot of research and found most of these front load washers use much less water, less electricity, and do a better job at cleaning clothes than most top loaders. My laundry is on the 2nd floor of my house so I was concerned about noise and vibration. And of course like everyone else I was looking for the best value for my dollar. Some reviews complain of vibration. Maybe they were not leveled correctly. Mine was delivered and installed professionally. The machine is super quiet and vibration free even to the touch. The only noise or vibration comes from the super fast spin cycle, and even that is much less than my previous top loader.

Here's what I have found so far:

Pros:

Cleans better than top loaders

Will handle much larger loads

Uses less detergent

Uses much less water

Uses less electricity

You can barely hear it run

Very little to no vibration, even to the touch.

The fast spin cycles removes more water from the clothes thereby making the dryers job that much easier.

Cons:

The cycles are about 20% longer than my previous top loader.

Be careful. Go to Google and search "Samsung washer won't spin". This washer has a problem spinning. My washer is installed in our basement on a concrete floor. It is level (has been checked by a technician as well as us). The load cannot balance and it won't spin. Once it tries to spin and can't, it throws the load back into a rinse cyle. This is why the load of wash on "Normal" takes almost 2 hours instead of 58 minutes!! Samsung finally admitted to us through the repair tech that the oil surrounding the drum gets thick at any temperature under 60 degrees. That leads to problems with spinning/balancing the load. If you are putting this washer in your basement or garage or any place it may drop below 60 degrees...think twice. We may try to return this to the store where purchased but I am afraid I will have to fight for it. A very expensive mistake.

Best Deals on Samsung WF330ANW 3.7 cu. ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer

I never really liked how this machine did wash. It was unpredictable in how long the cycle was, whether it would get the HE detergent completely out of your clothes, etc.

But this is what did it for me. An undocumented error code, that requires a service call, appeared on our machine 1 year and 10 days after we bought it (but less than 1 year after we received it since it was back ordered) and Samsung wants to charge me for a service call.

And the manager on the help desk can't do anything about it.

This is only what I can describe as horrible customer service.

Honest reviews on Samsung WF330ANW 3.7 cu. ft. High Efficiency Front-Load Washer

This machine doesn't have the annoying buzzer that our last machine did. It chimes. At first the dial with all the buttons was intimidating and I thought I would have to read the manual from cover to cover just to run it. However, I soon found out after turning it on how really user friendly it was. It even alarmed letting me know that it's hot water hose was crimped. Sure enough the hose was crimped and after getting it straightened out it was good to go again. It is really easy to pause the cycle too. This machine uses very little water and is very quiet so if your like me you may think something is wrong with it and sit with a flashlight looking in watching in amazement. You can really cram a lot in it and it all come out clean, and unlike top loaders it uses less soap and won't mess your bras up around a central spindle.

We are very pleased with the washing machine. It is very easy to read the front of the machine to do the type of fabric you wish to wash. It is very quiet running and has a set tone to set when finished washing. I could recommend this washing machine to anyone who was interested.

Cheap Bunn NHB Professional Home Brewer, Black

I'm fond of some of the 'thicker' smokier coffees. Mocha Matari (while difficult to find) is among my favorites. Normal drip pots (including some expensive ones) don't provide the complexity of flavor I enjoy. (I suspect the water is too hot, the brewing cycle is too long, and the coffee is over-extracted.)

One of my daughters is a coffee fanatic. She brought me some Ethopian coffee that she insisted I just had to try. So I ground it up, brewed it with the Bunn, and tasted it. The coffee was great. But my daughter's comments were revealing. "This tastes so good at home, but so much better here. My birthday is coming up -I know what I want for a gift."

And that's basically what it comes down to. Even supermarket "100% Columbian" coffee tastes pretty good, better than it has any right to taste.

There are a couple of down-sides, though. It keeps the water hot all the time, and that means that the water evaporates over time. Get accustomed to brewing a pot a day, and if you brew two pots in a row, you'll get more water than you expect and the coffee will be thin. Go away for the weekend, and you'll have less water than you expected when you return. Also, the brewing does not over-extract the coffee compared to most other brewing machines, and that means that to get the strength of coffee you want, you'll probably want to use about 20% more coffee than what you're accustomed to. Also, the quick extraction seems to brew the coffee with less caffeine, so if coffee is something you use to get started after not enough sleep, and not something to savor, this may not be for you.

But what you get in return is something that doesn't just open your eyes, but that tastes better than you probably thought was possible. For my money, there is no second choice.

Also -stock up on the Bunn filter papers. They're deeper, and that's necessary to keep grounds from overflowing. The quick brew cycle means that there's more water in with the coffee than with typical coffee brewers, and standard filters can't contain all that water.

I've never reviewed an Amazon item before, but will give it a shot because this coffee-maker is so great.

I do a lot of research before buying any home products, including televisions, audio equipment, and even my toaster. I typically drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning, and 1-2 cups in the evening. I was looking for a coffee maker that recreated the coffee-house experience, as most home brewers do not taste as good as a fresh cup from an industrial brewer.

After much thought and reading lots of reviews, I decided to try the Bunn NHB despite complaints of weak flavor, cool coffee, and a higher price than most brewers given the relative paucity of features.

After about 5 months, I love it. My girlfriend loves it. We can't drink coffee from other home brewing machines now. We use Peet's Coffee Major Dickason blend primarily. It is true that you need more grounds for this machine. I use about 2/3 to 1 tablespoon of grounds per cup as labeled on the side of the decanter. Realize that it takes about 2 "cups" by this scale to fill a regular coffee mug. This machine brews quickly without over-extraction, so you trade grounds economy for flavor essentially.

As far as coffee heat, 200 degrees is hot enough for me, which the Bunn is preset to brew at. 12 degrees hotter and you have steam, right? The warming plate works well and cleans up easily, made of ceramic and not metal. Keep in mind that after more than 20 minutes on the plate, the coffee will start to taste bitter. So if you're the type to milk a pot for an hour or so, the stainless steel insulated one may be for you. Since I drink two mugs worth myself, the 3-4 tablespoon for 4 cup ratio is great for me. I wouldn't brew less than this at any given time, as the machine seems to have trouble brewing smaller volumes accurately. To reiterate another frequently addressed point, if you brew less than 2x per week, add more water than you anticipate to need, as evaporation of preheated water will occur. More than a week on vacation, and you should use the vacation mode switch discussed in other reviews.

A typical problem for some folks is overflow. I have not experienced this as long as I use the taller Bunn brand filters, using up to 8 tablespoons of grounds with the high-flow 3-minute brewing spray-head. The filters cost more than regular filters, but over a year this equals one frappacino, so I got over it.

An added perk is that you have an instant hot water source. I like to switch it up sometimes and have French press coffee. Of course you need a coarser grind for this, but you just pour the requisite amount of water in the top of this machine, and within a minute or two there's perfect temperature/volume water. I've even made a cup-o-noodles successfully, for you college folks living in a dorm who stay up all night.

One more reminder. There is no "on" or "make coffee" switch or button. When you slide open the top of the machine, you are committed. The instant you close the lid, hot water starts flowing. Never close the lid without both the filter holder and pot in place. By the way, clean-up is a breeze. I love the removable filter holder; just dump grounds plus filter in the trash without dripping on your kitchen floor. The whole thing cleans easily, and the black color doesn't show brown stains after long-time use.

Overall, a great machine if you want a great-tasting pot of coffee fast and you're willing to spend a little extra for it.

I never take the time to write reviews, but this Coffee Maker deserves it!

I have purchased every high-end coffe maker out there over the past few years, and every one had issues of one kind or another.

This product is fantastic! Simple, with no bells and whistles. Just a great tasting cup of coffee in lightning time.

And it looks like it should last years with no problem.

Honest reviews on Bunn NHB Professional Home Brewer, Black

Everything about this coffee maker should be excellent. It brews extraordinarily fast and it brews the most consistent cup of coffee I've ever had. All good, right?

Well, that's the problem with this coffee maker: is that it makes the exact same cup of coffee every time, just like the Bunn's I use in my restaurant background. So if you want a really strong cup of coffee, forget it. In fact regardless of how much you vary from your grind or amount, the coffee tastes exactly the same in 3 minutes. (which, frankly is amazing).

So this coffee maker is for a person who wants a medium, no-fuss cup of coffee. If you're looking for coffee with a lot of body and strength, I'd suggest another model.

PS. the 3 minute brew time is amazing.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Bunn NHB Professional Home Brewer, Black

I like this machine. It keeps the next pot of coffee water hot using a low power heater in the tank in waiting for you to start the next brew cycle. The coffee basket is so easy to access, the basket filters are easy to fill (unlike some cone or swivel baskets) and easy to empty. I just pour in the new water (I do 5 cups at a time), put the carafe in place and activate the warmer plate ... in less than 2 minutes the coffee is completely done. Bunn's customer service is excellent, I called for a restricter to slow down the coffee brewer so I can get a stronger result and it arrived within a few days no questions asked.

One more thing, this machine makes coffee well, that's it. It doesn't beep at you, it doesn't tell the time, it doesn't need a programming guide, it just makes coffee. That's all I want from my coffee maker!

I am using this fan to blow heat from the room my wood stove is located in, past the stairs to the second floor, to heat the rest of the first floor. Before installing the fan, the second floor was sweltering hot, while the remainder of the first floor was too cool, even with mild outdoor temps. With the fan in place, it is moving the heat to where it needs to be and keeping most of it from just going up the stairs. It is USA made and has a heft that suggests a good heavy duty motor. Also has a nice long cord to reach low outlets. Has two speeds, according to the box, delivering 60 cfm and 90 cfm, consumes 25 watts.

At first I was going to give this two stars because I like the design, however I realized that I don't want to lead people into thinking that this fan does its job.

I've been looking at several door jamb fans so I can move some of the cooler air from one room to another in the summer. I have a small office off of my dining room that gets a little stuffy. I chose this fan over the Entree-Air fan because this fan has two speeds and has the same size fan (and I heard that the other one is quite noisy). I thought that this fan was the answer so much so that I bought two (which will be important later on).

Pros: compact shape

bottom mounted 2 speed switch

bottom mounted cord

mounting brackets

Cons: IT ONLY MOVES AIR AROUND THE EDGES OF THE FAN BLADES. I don't know why, but it if you put your hand directly in front of it (within a few inches or even a foot away, you feel NOTHING. This isn't rocket science if you don't feel the air, it's not there. I thought it was defective, so I plugged in the other fan I ordered same issue. This fan is supposedly rated up to 50 / 90cfm (low / high). Around the edges, the air really moves, but it's been more of a white noise maker that hangs in my doorway than anything else. For $45, I expected much much more. Plus, the color is not really white, but a cream color reminiscent of the faded plastic from some old appliance circa 1970 something.

I have found a solution though the O2 Cool Portable Fan (can be found on Amazon but I got mine at Pathmark for $7). It can be powered with two D cells or you can purchase an AC adaptor $10. Small fan HUGE amount of air and a lot cheaper than anything else. I inverted them in my doorways hung using 3M pulltab strips. The only concern I have is longevity The fan was not designed my my intended purpose, but we'll have to wait and see.

Best Deals on Minuteman International F-10 Room to Room Doorway Fan

Significantly noisier than expected. Even on low, you know it's there. Also moves less air than expected. Even on high, it just doesn't feel like much. All in all, I guess it serves its purpose, but there has to be something better out there...

Way too noisy to even run. This is just a small ugly off white fan piece of crap. Get a computer fan instead.

This fan is perfect for my bed room at any time. I needed a nice fan for sleeping and this works perfect, level one blows just enough air onto me for a great breeze and sleep. The fan is super quiet for the amount of air it pushes,no fan will ever be silent. You cant hear the motor at all. totally worth it!

i attached the video to hear the fan on each setting. The video starts on setting 1 then when it beeps it goes to level 2 then the next beep is level 3 . about 10 secs apart for each setting. the camera is 2 feet away and not directly on the wind path

update 7/31/13

the motor on setting 1 and 2 will make an annoying clicking sound from time to time which makes the fan unusable at night for sleeping

So initially I had bought this unit and had a bad experience with it. It had just stopped working after a couple of weeks. Surprisingly enough Miallegro is pro-active in helping their customers. They replaced it and shipped it for free. Not only that, but their customer service is actually polite. As we all know, lots of companies have rude customer service. I just had to get that out of the way in case any of you have issues with your fan.

Now onto my review of the product. I was looking for this particular type of fan because the fans that oscillate the entire tower always end up giving me problems. With the inner oscillation, I find it to be more reliable. This 2nd unit has been just that. Also the fan is rather quiet on the low setting. The medium and high settings on the fan move a large amount of air without the annoying loudness that most fans have. Unless you're a light sleeper, you'll be able to sleep with this on. If you have issues with limited floorspace, you'll be pleased to know that this fan takes up an extremely small amount of space for the job it does. Lastly, this fan just looks cool. It's sleek, has that l.e.d. display, and the display slides back to reveal the remote's location.

Overall I'd have to say that I'm quite pleased with this fan. It does the job it's designed to do and it does it well. For being a brand that isn't as well-known as the major brands, in my case it stands above them.

Best Deals on Miallegro 1760 Air Ionizer Tower Fan with Remote Control Oscillates

Here was my original review I posted, until it died. My additions are at the bottom.

For people who are worried about noise, and watched the video the other poster posted, remember, that was a directional mike on a camera very near the unit. I was shocked at how silent this is compared to my other fans. At high, this is still less noticeable than my Honeywell at low.

Granted, it doesn't move as much air as that does at high, but I didn't want that much airflow unless I'm drying out my basement. For my great room, this is outstanding. When I have the TV on at a normal volume level, 12 feet away I can barely notice the fan noise at high. At medium, I can kind of notice it if I really try.

I've got oscillating space heating towers, and as others have complained, the rotating unit is annoying and distracting. This accomplishes a great range of motion with only a small portion inside noticable as it moves. And that's more seeing light behind it as the inner mechanism pivots side to side and you are lined up right.

There was no smell or noise along with the ionizing on this unit, but by the same token I haven't noticed anything accumulating around the base as their customer support told me I would when I asked about cleaning the unit. Their reply was that there is nothing to clean in or on the unit, that the "dirt" will fall to the floor near it.

I have no rattling, no unusual noise at all, on any of the settings from the oscillation, no wobble, nothing.

It is incredible on low, because the room feels fresher, you get some slight air movement occasionally as it passes you, but nothing too obvious. Very subtle and very silent. On medium, same thing just a bit more of the breeze. High, it's enough to make me comfortable after work when the house reached 81 degrees since I had the air off all day, without having to turn on the air conditioner.

Now compared to my smaller "turbo" honeywell circular fan, it's not as powerful but then towers would never be that powerful as far as I can tell. If you need a very huge blast of air, this isn't for you. But if you're looking for something to make your area more comfortable without the annoyances of a standard fan, this is definitely a solution for you. Most attractive of all the ones I've looked at, blends very well into the room unobtrusively, and does its job well. Which is what I always look for, something designed well and functions well. This is and does.

EDIT:

24 hours later, the unit no longer oscillates. Light comes on, but the internal mechanism simply no longer operates. So returning it. Went from 5 star review to 3, won't give it a 1 since clearly this is not a "normal" issue otherwise all these people who reviewed would've had a different story, but also obviously it's a crapshoot...

Honest reviews on Miallegro 1760 Air Ionizer Tower Fan with Remote Control Oscillates

Best part is the whole body does not rotate. First I thought the rotation feature does not work. But once I found out it rotates internally, I thought it was innovative.

Summary:

I love this fan. I bought it having semi-high expectations it blew them out of the water. The remote is very nice, the color of the fan fits with all my interior design/dark colored themes. It's sturdy and the design is perfect.

Performance:

The fan is SUPER COLD! I actually have to lower it to temperature setting II b/c III ends up being too cold. I used to sleep with AC on 68 I know, I know, it's very cold. I now set my AC to 75 and sleep next to this fan blowing on me. It is the best thing and has already saved me $50-$100 off my expenses.

Bottom line:

I recently purchased this tea kettle from Amazon.com.

It is wonderful! The outside of the kettle stays cool while the water inside boils. Heating the water to boiling only takes a few minutes which is nice when you have a hungry preschooler waiting for their Ramen noodles. I live in Wisconsin so I am partial to purchasing Westbend products as they are known for their reputation/durablity over the long haul.

What was appreciated about my previous electric teakettle was that the automatic shut-off shut off when the water reached the proper temperature. This tea kettle only shuts off when the water has totally evaporated.

I love my electric teakettle! I use it all the time. This kettle is great quality for the price, and it heats water FAST. It is also very well insulated and has not affected any surface I put it on. The whistle is very convenient, and it will automatically shut off if the water has boiled dry. Great item, especially for a dorm room! Recommended.

I've had two of these kettles and like the design, the whistle, and the quickness with which it heats. However, both kettles eventually began to leak after a couple of years. If you buy one, I suggest making sure you pour out any remaining water once you've used it, and don't accidentally overfill. I am not sure which caused my leakage, but I'm buying another electric kettle of a different brand this time. Still for the price, I've been very happy with this kettle. It's lasted a long time, and I can afford to replace it when it's worn out.

This is one of the best small heaters you can buy IMO.. I have owned one of these myself for 2 years and bought this current one on amazon for my girl friend so she can bring her living room up to temp a little better then the regular house heat does. These heaters are easy to use, there pretty quiet and I have never had any over heating issues etc.. I live in an older house and since heating the house is expensive I tend to only run this in my room when I'm home or have the day off.. I can turn this heater on when the rooms 48-55 degrees on average and watch the temp climb to 70-75 degrees within 20min.. it has no problem fighting the cold and will even start to heat up the cold hallway if I leave the door open by accident it's a pretty powerhouse unit for it's size if you ask me. The digital thermostat on it is pretty damn accurate.. i have a digital thermometer clock thingy in my room that sits around 6 feet away from the heater and it is always within 1 degree of the heater's set temp. If you got a small room, a small living room, bathroom, buy one of these you won't be sorry.

I bought this to replace one I had for years. It seems to be the only heater with an accurate thermostat. -All1500 Watt heaters give out the exact same amount of heat, whether it is a $30 box with glowing ribbons inside or a big piece of wooden furniture with a fancy looking heater inside. An oil filled radiator gives off heat when you shut it off because of how long it took to get warm in the first place. How these thing react to changing conditions is the only difference. The heater was perfect for our 8x12 bathroom. Love the automatic off and the temperature set. Note there is a delay before the fan shuts off (good thing).

I would have given this 5 stars, as I loved it while it worked. Nice thermostat control and warmed the room nicely with fan blowing heat. BUT it stopped heating after one month of use. I saw that Consumer Reports rated this second to a $400. heater and was hopeful it would last at least one winter. I know Holmes products are cheap and only last a year at best. It does come with a one year warranty, but if you live 50 miles from civilization like I do, that's a whole lot of hassle just to get the product you bought for this very moment freezing cold! I'll never buy Holmes again. And I wish these reviews wouldn't put words in my mouth for the one star rating I don't hate it. I'm frustrated and disappointed and cold and not looking forward to the time and hassle it will take to make it right! I totally loved it while it worked! And I won't buy again from any company that only gives a one month return/exchange policy. If they did a simple exchange, I could have a working heater within the week.

A REVIEW PS: I spoke to the manufacturer (Holmes), and they couldn't have been nicer! They're sending me a new heater this week, just as I had hoped the original seller would do. They make good on their warranties, and it was no hassle at all as I had anticipated. I will buy Holmes again! They said it was highly unusual for this heater to stop heating. So I'm back to giving it 5 stars... once it arrives and is working!
