Review of MSZ-GE15NA
We purchased a ductless heat pump (Mitsubishi MSZ-D30NA) two years ago. It's cut our winter electric bill in half. We had no air conditioning before we installed this unit so our summer electric bills are a little higher depending on how hot our summers are here in the Northwest. This unit has performed flawlessly with no maintenance except for vacuuming the filters. It's so quite that we barely hear the inside unit and the outside unit is also very quite. It also has a very handy remote control. We have a 2000 sq ft one level home and this unit, with just one evaporator mounted in the family room, heats and cools the entire home except for the master bath. It's amazing the amount of heat that it puts out even in the cold winter. This unit is bigger than was recomended by the contractor. My thought was to have a higher output unit that would not have to work as hard. I could of had a smaller less expensive unit. The inside mounted evaporator is fairly large hanging on the wall near the ceiling but after a while we don't even notice it. When visitors come over they don't even notice it unless we point it out. With this 30,600 btu unit you could run 3 or 4 more inside units, say to upstairs bedrooms. This is a much less expensive way to have heat and air conditioning installed in an exesisting home that doesn't have duct work. Some public unilities offer rebates for ductless pumps.

It was time for an upgrade for a more energy efficient Fridigaire A/C! We had a 12,000 BTU model that was struggling to deal with 97F + humidity summers: too much groaning and compressor failing! We decided to look for a higher BTU output and for apartment living there are much fewer choices and models to choose from compared with the window models: so here we are with the 14,000 BTU.
Thankfully, the sleeve was already there from our older model, and hence we intalled it ourselves that was not a difficult task but you will need 2 people to help! After a couple of days dealing with 100F + humidity: the A/C is doing its job and we noticed that it is distributing the cooled air more evenly (is that possible?). I noticed that with the older model (10 years old) that I could always feel the cold jet stream and had to put a cardigan on: now I dont need to and the cool air appears more distributed. Yeah!
Note that we have increased the rating from 4 to 5 stars following its wonderful performance over the brutal heat wave (106F) we just experienced.
We would like to stress to potential buyers that they need to follow the installation instructions and in particular to the installing the grill provided. The grill provided is designed such that the hot air blown out is not mixed with the cold air drawn into the A/C; our old grill had slants that faced downwards and that mixed the air flows so much that the A/C struggled to handle the heat. The new grill design is wonderful and should be fitted for all through the wall installations!
We are so pleased to get an upgrade and maybe you should also check out if your local energy company is offering any rebates for purchasing energy efficient appliances.
FYI it is a 230 volt plug, and in the box the air conditioner, a real grill, and a kit to fit it into an existing sleeve are included. If you do not have an existing sleeve, you need to buy one. Also, if you are installing yourself you need a drill to install the ground wire. Hope this helps!
I needed another A/C but so concerned by this situation I bought it from Wal-mart for 30 dollars more. I doubt you will but I wish you could check the warehouse this was shipped from. there is obviously a problem there.

This was put in an old existing sleeve, and the rear grill was mounted directly on the back of the unit. The manual says this way the units loses some efficiency, and that is a worst case scenario solution.
Still, this thing just blows ice cold air any time you want it. Really efficient. We live in an appartment on the last floor, and we expected cooling it to be a difficult task. We first went for a Sharp "portable" 10500 Btu unit from Costco, which could BARELY bring the temperature down a little.
We replaced it with the Frigidaire unit, and oh My, is there a difference ! This thing CHILLS !
Long story short:
PROS:
It just does what it's expected to do. And it does it well.
Functional remote (although see cons below).
All functions accessible without remote (yes, sounds logical, but some brands don't give you a fully functional panel on the unit any more).
On the flip side:
Loud. Less so than older similar units, but still noisy. Will add Db measurements when I get them.
Louvers: I can't understand how a flimsy Chinese portable unit like an SPT can have power louvers with remote control, oscillating and whatnot, while this supposedly branded thing would have louvers that are sticky in their vertical movement, to the point of making you afraid they'll break any time you touch them.
The remote looks like a total after thought. Yes, it is functional, it is smart, it actually allows you to use the remote as a temperature sensor (you can put it anywhere in the room and program it to get the remote's location temperature as the temperature main reading, not the sensor on the AC. Still, it's small, ugly, flimsy, un-ergonomic. Buttons are small, not back-lit, screen is not back-lit (and is small) all in all, it really feels like a "well thought afterthought" rather than like the remote on a Fujitsu or even a Sharp system.
Other than that, it's pure joy.
NOTE: We noticed a puddle of water gathering on the back of the unit. There is no drip hole. It will not drip inside the room (if you install the unite tilted the way it is supposed to be installed). I was ready to drill a drip hole, but tech support at Frigidaire told us this is meant to be this way, as the water is supposedly blown on the condenser to cool it further. Well, I still have my drill in case they are wrong.

I bought this unit in March of 2009, and it died in May of 2011. The main control board, and another board blew out. Figidaire did nothing for me other than tell me I should have bought an extended warranty. Expecting an air conditioner to last more than 2 years is completely reasonable, and Frididaire obviously does not stand by its product. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this unit, or this brand. It's pure junk, just like the company that makes it.Best Deals on Frigidaire FRA144HT2 14,000/13,600 BTU Through-the-Wall Room Air
I've had this air conditioner in for about 2 months now and it is great! I love having the remote, and being able to adjust a lot of settings. I live in a two bedroom condo and this unit is responsible for cooling about 800 square feet some days. I do agree that it is loud when you have it on full blast, but I think that it is something to expect when you rely on an ac unit instead of central air.FYI it is a 230 volt plug, and in the box the air conditioner, a real grill, and a kit to fit it into an existing sleeve are included. If you do not have an existing sleeve, you need to buy one. Also, if you are installing yourself you need a drill to install the ground wire. Hope this helps!

Received damaged! Carton in terrible condition, Interior packing destroyed, left rear top of A/C dented so bad I could not attach rear grill. Product obviously had been sitting in warehouse, possibly even a return and repacked. UPS driver said to call amazon and file a claim. No way could I or would I return this monster! Decided to install as is without rear grill. So Far after 5 hrs of run time it seems to be ok. After at least 12 years of buying from amazon without a problem I decided to accept this piece of crap.I needed another A/C but so concerned by this situation I bought it from Wal-mart for 30 dollars more. I doubt you will but I wish you could check the warehouse this was shipped from. there is obviously a problem there.

Cheap BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 9400M
I am a 52 year old widow with 4 grown children, and I've always had at least one dog; now with the kids gone I have 3 small dogs. This is the third carpet cleaner I've purchased over 15 years. The first was a Hoover, and though I thought it worked fine, advances over the years have made big improvements both in the machines' ability to clean, and their design.
My second machine was the old version of this machine, which was 5 years old, and still working, but one of the kids borrowed it, and when I stressed the importance of cleaning after use, she went nuts and disassembled the thing to clean it (totally unnesessary), and it came back not working well. Obvious user problem, not the machine's fault.
So, I ordered the 9400 Select, which arrived promptly from Amazon, quickly assembled it, and went to work in the bedroom. With 3 dogs, I clean the carpet every 3 months. My dogs are potty trained, but they are dogs, after all, and unlike me they can't remove dirty shoes when they enter the house. Amazing what 12 little feet can track in to a carpet! So, between my normal use, and the dogs, I am always looking for the best machine.
I am going to post some pictures of the things mentioned, if this site allows... By the way, the room I did first and will base these comments on is a 12x15 foot bedroom, with very light colored carpeting. Some reviewers expressed frustration with the fuzzballs that can get left behind. Yes, this machine does that. It is old carpet, dog fur, and dirt. It is confined, slightly damp, and picks up easily. In this room there were maybe 12 chunks of this stuff, which were picked up as I went along. Not slimy, didn't require toweling or gloves.
Next, one reviewer said the machine leaks dirty water spots all over. Again, the machine at the end of a pull does leave some water spots. As soon as you go over the pull again, they are sucked up, leaving no spots in the wake. When I am changing the dirty water tank and refilling the bladder, I always throw a towel under the machine for the few minutes I am away. This is a water/detergent based machine; of course some excess might drip out when it is stationary. All of my machines did this, so I don't even think of it as unusual.
As for not knowing when the bladder is empty and needs refilling, I did not hear the "pop" some reviewers did, but I didn't need to stop and check the level, either. I just paid attention when pulling the trigger for the cleaning mode, and if nothing was being sucked up when trigger is released and it is in suction mode, which one can easily see through the clear design, I know there is nothing going out, and it's time to throw out the old water and refill the bladder. In this room, I take an hour or so to clean it properly. People who want a 10 minute clean are going to get exactly that. It takes months, sometimes years for carpeting to get dirty, but some folks want it to be cleaned in 10 minutes. I just don't get that. The trick is that though this is a very easy machine to use, the key is in going SLOWLY, and allowing the machine to do what it was designed to do. Get the fibers wet/soapy; then let the brushes get down deep, suck up the slop the machine cleaned, then turn the dial to rinse only (I always do this, though many don't, because in my opinion detergent residue left behind becomes a magnet of sorts for dirt once the carpet is dry). In any case, to do the job right, this room took me about an hour. Time well spent, with excellent results. Cleanup is a breeze. Take the bladder/ takeup container, empty it, then pour water through the take up holder to get any remaining dirty water out. This takes all of about 1 minute.
If my trend of getting a new cleaner about every 5 years continues, and in that time I use the machine 20 times, this is a bargain.
I am thrilled with the results this machine gives, and highly recommend it. I guess the only other issue I could address is the storage, and I do understand that it is slightly bulkier than a traditioner vaccuum cleaner, and if one doesn't have a spare closet it could be a problem. In this house, it just rests under the basement staircase, ready and waiting to be called into action again.
Anyways, I had no luck with the SpotBot I purchased so I was a little reluctant to try another Bissell Product. I saw the good ratings for the 9400 and figured I would give it a shot.
It seems to have everything one could need on a steam cleaner and it even includes Scotchgard Protection. I tried the Bissell on a tough stain that had set in for a couple of months. Nothing could get it out not even the Rug Doctor from the supermarket.
At first the Bissell did not totally get it out. So I tried it again with the hottest water I could get and heated the water with the built-in heater. Sure enough it got it out like a charm. I think Chem-Dry will have to find another customer now!
Steam cleaners are kind of a pain to use with all the filling of tanks and solutions and they usually soak your carpet. But I finally found something that can get up just about any stain and leave my carpet clean as a whistle. We have a winner!
We have carpeting in our kitchen, our kitchen table rests on the carpet. You can imagine how dirty they look(ed) after years of spilled milk, cereal, wine, ketchup, etc... We had planned on ripping them up and putting in tile or Pergo in the next few years.
So this past week our dog gets sick and really puts me over the edge here. I decide to rent one of those "Rug Doctors" at the grocery store. However, I realize that it will take days for me to clean all the carpets and I really don't want to have to shuttle the Rug Doctor back and forth to the grocery store (about 15 20 mins away). On a whim, I check out the reviews on Amazon and find that the Bissell 9400 is the real deal. There is even a reviewer mentioning his sick dog.
So I decide to go with the Bissell.
It was very well packaged, little boxes for all the accessories (there are a ton of them). There is even a mesh bag full of various cleaners (wish I knew that before I bought $60 worth of cleaners!!). The Bissell goes together in about 10 minutes (including the time it took to locate my screwdriver).
I used the Bissell "Pet Strength" cleaner, taking two bottles to do two rooms (wayyy more than is required, but these were dirty carpets!!).
It is a slow process, you have to push the cleaner forward, depressing the trigger. Move slowly, then pull back with the trigger depressed. A few passes more will remove the moisture.
I didn't count the number of times I had to empty the resovoir and fill the water & cleaner. It certainly was a breeze to do.
This first pass took me some 3 hours to do, but was well worth it. I am willing to bet that this will go faster now that they have been recently cleaned!
I noticed a huge difference before they even dried!! The carpets were no longer soiled, almost all the food stains had been removed, the nap was much fluffier. I pulled out about a large handfull of cat/dog/human hair that the brushes spit up( This is normal and nothing to worry about, its much better in the trash than ground back into the carpet).
Once they dried (overnight) and after a pass with our Kirby, they looked incredible!!
My daughter walked barefoot on the cleaned carpet and on one in our family room (that is scheduled for next week). She said the clean one was a lot more cushier.
When I walk in the house now, I am greeted by a nice scent (there is a scent in the pet-strength cleaner) and a very clean-looking carpet!
I intend to clean our furniture as well as the rest of all the carpets. I'm beginning to believe that this will help with our allergies too....
If you are on the fence about this, go for it! You will not be sorry.
Oh, I mentioned above and will restate it. Do NOT use this like a vacuum cleaner, pushing and pulling at a fast clip. Go slow!! You will reap the benefits..
Update: 8 Apr 2006
Still very happy that we got this. Last weekend I completed the cleaning of all the original carpets in our home. I had to do all of our Master Bedroom in 3 passes (moved furniture around) because the pets loved to sleep under the bed, beside the dresser, etc). Before last weekend, the only "Original Carpet" uncleaned was the Master BR. The difference in smell when walking into the Bedroom was noticeable. (Before cleaning). We never noticed the pet odor because we were 'used' to it throughout the house. Once I cleaned the rest of the house, the odor in the remaining room stood out.
After cleaning the Bedroom, I've noticed a very signifigant impact (for the better) on my allergies. Cleaning the carpets under the bed where we sleep made a huge difference.
On another note, I cleaned a pet stain (from where our dog was sick) in my daughter's room. The carpet in there is only 6 months old. I couldn't believe the hair it picked up! I originally thought I could bypass all the new carpeting, but am in the process of cleaning all the new carpeting too!
OK, in case you haven't guessed it... This was by far the best $250 I've ever spent!
ONE TIP: After shampooing, you may want to go over the carpet one final time to get any excess water from the carpet, turn your heater OFF. The heater draws from the 12 amp motor which steals power from the sucking mechanism.
As for some of the problems other people have had... on ours the brushes do stop moving when it is upright so we can use the tools, but because on some other ones the brushes don't stop, be sure to check that when you get it. Also, I recomend following the directions on the review from the engineer and drill a couple of holes in the back for the exaust. We noticed that it was getting pretty hot after use, so we decided to do this and it helped increase the suction and it doesn't get hot anymore. Maybe this is why some people's machines poop out after only a few years, I imagine the motor would eventually burn out from overheating. It really is stupid that they put the exaust on the bottom of the machine, air can't really escape because it's right against the carpet. Just be carefull not to drill into something you're not supposed to!!!!! We only needed to carve out a couple holes about an inch above the existing exaust vents. I know some people have had a problem with suction, for us it exstracts about 70-80% of the dirty water, which is what is expected according to the bissell website. Also, if you have any problems, check out their troubleshooting page, there's some good suggestions on there that could really help you out or at least narrow down the problem.
Everything said here, it's worth it's weight in gold!! Even if you have some of the problems that some others have had, they are repairable and it's worth the effort to fix because it works soooo great!!! Hope this helps!

I have been through the ringer with carpet cleaners and stain removers. We have a dog that vomits about once a week. Unfortunatley, he does not do this on our wood floor, which comprises most of our house, but rather he prefers to stain our carpet. I've been wanting to steam clean our carpets in our house for a number of years now. We had them professionally cleaned before moving in (8 1/2 years ago!!). Three kids, a dog, and a cat later have reduced our carpets to what I thought, was their last legs. The carpets are probably 12 years old (they were not new when we moved in, I am guessing here). We have carpeting in our kitchen, our kitchen table rests on the carpet.
Honest reviews on BISSELL ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 9400M
I didn't think a cheap, inexpensive, household extractor would do a good job, but I was wrong. It does a great job. The spinning brissles do the trick, they really spin fast. It scrubs stains out better than a washing machine can get stains out from clothing. My friend uses this thing for house cleaning and she has been told many times that she does a better job than the carpet cleaning companies around our area. Reviewers mentioned the exhause being a design flaw because it breathes into the carpet. It is not a flaw, the warm air assists in drying the carpet. The turbo paw is fairly well built, it doesn't spin as quickly as the main brissles but it does much better than just a regular scrubber. I think peoples' expectations of the turbo paw are set high after seeing the floor extractor in action. I thinks it's great esspecially for $225. Can't top it.ONE TIP: After shampooing, you may want to go over the carpet one final time to get any excess water from the carpet, turn your heater OFF. The heater draws from the 12 amp motor which steals power from the sucking mechanism.

I don't normally write reviews but I was compelled to say something about this one! We purchased the 9400 off of Ebay and I must say, it is absolutely amazing! I've used a few differant kinds of carpet shampooers (including a rug doctor and a few differant Hoover models) and this one just blows them all out of the water! It's bought new life to our carpets, it even got out old koolaide and grease stains out of our dining room. Our carpets look and feel brand new, and with two young kids and a dog, it's a great thing to have around. Honestly, even if you think your going to have to replace your carpets, try this out first, you might be surprized at what it can do! I'm not normally about dropping so much money on any one thing, but it's alot better than having to buy new carpeting in a few years! It's really easy to use, I LOVE the tank in tank thing b/c there's only one thing you have to take to the sink. The two rows of brushes leave your carpets freshly groomed, and can really bring all of the dog hair up and out of the floor. It does spit it out in hair balls, but it's supposed to do that so it doesn't clog up the machine. All of the tools work great except for the turbo brush, which is just kinda a joke. If you want to save some $$ though, try looking for the 9200 on Ebay and buy any extra tools you really need off of the bissell website. I was lucky enough to find the 9400 for $70, just check it out first, you never know!As for some of the problems other people have had... on ours the brushes do stop moving when it is upright so we can use the tools, but because on some other ones the brushes don't stop, be sure to check that when you get it.

This heater is an excellent buy. There is really only two heat output settings. The "third" setting is the "econo" setting and really uses the two different heat settings based on temperature difference between the setting and the room. The fan is not to loud and not too quiet. It is perfect for background noise for sleeping. The safety cutoff switch when the unit tips over works just as described when I tested it. The displayed temperatue setting and other lights are fairly bright and bothered my wife when while we slept. I put a couple of layers of translucent tape over it and it took care of that problem. The stand does not have adjustable height. Ceramic heaters are also safer because their elements do not get glowing hot like most heating elements. When this is combined with the safety cutout, it is much safer than the older style units.
I did try the other unit in our family room which is a large 15 x 17 with 15 foot ceiling and the unit really did not warm the room at all, which I didn't expect it would. So know the limitations of the unit. Even still, in the big room the heater did take a slight chill out of the room, but not enough to justify it running non-stop for several hours.
The unit has a sleek modern design and does not take up much space. I'm really happy with the units.
I upgraded this product from 2 stars to 4 stars. I now like this product. I moved the location of this product away from the house heating vent (my husband had placed it in the corner near the house heater vent). Customer service also recommended that I unplug the unit to 'reset' it so now I turn it off and unplug it after each use. I have also had great temperature success using the ECO mode instead of the Level 1 mode. I set the device to 67 degrees, ECO mode, and oscillate and it keeps the room in a range between 65F-70F (when set at 67F). This range is acceptable to me. The oscillate mode still makes a slight clicking, but seems to smooth out after it has been in use for awhile. In any case, it does not seem to bother my daughter. Now I'm sleeping much better.
OLD TWO STAR REVIEW:
The first week, this product seemed to work nicely. I had it set to 68F and it seemed to come on and shut off with a +/3 degrees max difference from the setting (I have my own thermostat in the room). This week (week #2), I woke up at 4am and noticed that the temperature in my daughters room was 72 and the heater was still going (I had it set at 67F that night). Last night I was awake almost all night monitoring the temperature. I do not have confidence in the thermostat setting on the heater because it seems to not shut off even after the room is over 3 degrees from the setting (or even +5 degrees as I found out when it was set at 67F and the room was already at a hot 72F and the heater was still going). My daughters room isn't that big and I have a thermometer set on the opposite end of her room. Also, when the heater is on oscillate, it makes a slight clicking sound. The heater fan by itself is quiet. Another minus is that there is no confirmation light to show you if you've got the heater in oscillate mode. Sometimes I think I've got it on oscillate (by pressing the button), but when I check later, the heater is on without oscillating. There is no way to know if you've pressed the oscillate mode On or Off (no light for that). I would like to return this unit.

I purchased two of these units. One for a home office that is approximately 10 x 12 with 9 foot ceiling and the other one to be used in various other rooms of the house as needed. For the unit in the office, it is the perfect size and does a great job of keeping the room warm. I like the fact that the unit does not get hot to the touch if accidentally touched and that is is fairly quiet. It does have an "Econ" button on it which changes the fan speed from low to high as needed, a nice touch. It has a big bright display that is easy to read from anywhere in the room. Also comes with a handy remote control, not necessary, but a nice to have.I did try the other unit in our family room which is a large 15 x 17 with 15 foot ceiling and the unit really did not warm the room at all, which I didn't expect it would. Like every other DeLonghi heater I've owned (2 or 3), this one worked great, until it suddenly decided not to! With this particular model the fan just quit working, but the heater still heats up! I'm afraid it is going to catch fire! I've never had a DeLonghi heater last a full year. I'll never buy another one!Honest reviews on DeLonghi TCH7090ER Safeheat 24 In. Michigan: We have an 1800sq ft house with a very open floor plan with central heat that works great except for our closed-off master bed/bath/closet that occupies about 400sq ft and there is a 10 degree difference in there on cold days. We insulated the attic to R60 and had foam injected into the walls, but it actually made my bedroom colder since the heat isn't running constantly now that we have proper insulation. The HVAC guy wanted to sell me on zoning, which is very expensive. So I bought this little heater to see if maybe that would work. It does, and it works great! I have it set up on our dresser, and I just set it to "ECO" mode at 70 degrees. It kicks on only when it needs to, and oscillates warm air around the room. It is very quiet and makes less noise than my tower fan does on low. I'm not sure how it would do if you were heating a room with no supplemental heat, but it works great for making up the difference to get my bedroom on par with the rest of the house. No more cold noses and cold feet at night! It doesn't take up a lot of room and it looks quite attractive. I am quite happy with this solution.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DeLonghi TCH7090ER Safeheat 24 In. Ceramic Tower Heater with Remote

Intro...
Upon researching various types of heaters for the past week, I came to the conclusion that this heater would be a good pick for a bedroom. I ended up purchasing a Lasko heater for the living room and this DeLonghi Mica Panel Heater for the bedroom. The reason I chose this brand over other mica panels is due to my experience with their products in the past. I've owned a DeLonghi Magnifica Espresso machine, which has worked flawlessly for over 4 years along with a DeLonghi Radiator Heater which has worked just as great. If you dont know much about DeLonghi, they are a European-based company that makes quality appliances, specifically utilizing German-engineering.
Overall Thoughts...
Upon testing out this new technology heater, I noticed that it had all of the great features that a radiator heater had. To add to the conventional radiator heater, it also features instant-on heat while maintaining a low-profile size. Due to the thin profile, this heater can be wall-mounted like a picture frame. However, I'd recommend keeping the heater as low as possible since heat tends to rise, pushing the cold air down. Another great feature about this heater is the quietness during use. Because there are no fans or moving parts, there are no constant noises. A conventional radiator heater makes a considerable amount of noise from the oil dripping inside. So how is the heat output from this new Mica Thermic technology? To put it short, it provides an ample amount of heat similar to an oil radiator heater, but has the advantage of instant heat. This gives you instant warmth when you stand in front of the heater immediately after you turn it on. This is something that you cannot obtain with a conventional radiator heater.
Final Thoughts...
Overall, I'm very surprised at this new technology for heating. It provides all of the great radiation type heat which maintains the temperature of the room quite well, without having to wait. Also, the low profile gives many options on where to put the heater. Lastly, the device is VERY safe. The cage around the heater provides 100% security from being burned, and the front panel can be touched comfortably without ever being burned. However, upon checking the temperature of heat output with an IR thermometer, it provided 300-400 degrees F of heat. Its quite surprising to see those types of numbers, as you can touch the front panel stays considerably cooler than the heat output. The heater also has an auto-off feature if it tips over. A great heater for an enclosed room, however, be sure that the room is around 150 sq. feet or less. Any larger, and this heater will not provide an ample amount of heat. For larger spaces, take a look at the Lasco Space Heater.
We use it in a 200 sq ft bedroom, with the rest of the house left at 63 at night. On the LOW setting this heater can easily push the room to 80 on a 20-degree night.
A control suggestion (to be followed under your own advisement!):
Right from the beginning I used a Lux WIN100 plug-in thermostat. I removed the sensor and attached a 30-foot extension lead to it. The thermostat and heater are positioned on the colder outside wall, with the sensor on a small homemade pedestal on my wife's night table, on the opposite side of the room. Works perfectly. If you have any mechanical/electrical ability, the modification takes about the same time as writing the description. (I've since learned that terrarium-keepers use the same method (with other heaters, of course.))
We've never used this heater on HIGH. (I would think that without a separate thermostat it could cook you to medium-well overnight.)
On the LOW setting it averages a 30% cycle time set at 69 through the winter nights (as measured with a Kill-a-Watt). So, if it's on for 9 hours/night at 750W, it runs for 3 hours and costs about $0.75/night. (Our oil burner eats 0.6 gal/hour at $3.99/gal, or about $2.40/hour. Heating the whole house to heat the bedroom is obviously nuts.)
Oh --we also have a solar system that averages 10,000 kWh/year, so you get the picture!
The other Lux thermostat kicks the oil burner on in the morning --as this heater gets turned off simultaneously.
Be advised that this heater makes some "crinkly" noises when it heats, especially when new. You'll ignore it by Day 3.
I bought this DeLonghi heater thinking that it might at least keep the chill off long enough for us to figure out another 5,000 Watt solution to replace our original heaters. I can't really figure it out, but just ONE of these1500 Watt DeLonghi heaters is heating my entire house. It is COMPLETELY silent. I'm using less energy and the house is plenty warm, even when we've had freezing temperatures. I would buy another one I love it so much, but apparently I only need one! I'm thrilled.
This heater is absolutely fantastic so far. It's not absolutely silent like an oil-filled radiator. You can hear a very quiet hum which sounds like a transformer when the thermostat turns the heater on. You only hear it at night when everything is absolutely silent in the room, and it's barely audible. The hum is louder on the high setting, but still quiet. The unit heats up fully within a minute or two and heats up a room as fast as any other type of space heater. It emits no light. The heating element appears to be a heavy paper or fabric sheet which is suspended in the middle of the housing. There's no fan.
The upper knob is the off/low/high switch. The lower knob is the thermostat, which reads 1 through 6. I only use it on the low setting with the thermostat set at 2. It heats up a 250 sq. ft. room with a 10-foot ceiling like nothing when it's 40 degrees F outside. I'm thinking that 1 or 2 of these would heat the main living area of a 2000 sq. ft. house.
It has a recess on the back side in the middle of the upper edge which serves as a handle. It's very light and can be moved very easily by lifting. It has 4 rollers for feet which not only makes it easy to roll around, but keeps it from tipping over if it's bumped, since it will roll out of the way instead of tipping over. It has a tip-over switch which turns it off if it's tilted too much, not that it ever gets hot enough to ignite anything. The tip-over switch makes a rattling noise like something is loose inside if you shake the heater it's not a broken part inside.
Unlike an oil-filled radiator heater, it only emits heat from one side which allows you to move it out of the way and use it without fear of heating whatever is behind it. The back side is so cool that it comes with a plastic bracket which allows you to hang the heater on a wall.
So far this heater is fantastic. I've used it for one season without any issues. I recently bought 2 more and to see if they will in fact allow me to stop using propane central heat altogether. I placed two of them in the living room, plugged them both in and set them to full blast. 10 minutes later, they tripped the living room breaker, so I tried one on full blast for a couple of hours. It took 2 hours to go from 60 degrees to 62 degrees inside. It's obvious that one isn't powerful enough to heat most of the house, and going by the paltry increase in temperature, I'm now sure 2 of them wouldn't cut it either. Oh well.
These work great in a closed bedroom to heat up the whole room. If using on in a large space like a living room, it'll only warm people who are close enough to feel the warmth coming off of it.

I have a small (700 square foot) house with 12 ft ceilings. When we built it this summer we installed two "whisper quiet" 2500 Watt electric wall heaters, which were fine until it got cold and we actually needed to use them. The noises they made at random times during the night woke everyone up periodically throughout the night. We were going nuts.I bought this DeLonghi heater thinking that it might at least keep the chill off long enough for us to figure out another 5,000 Watt solution to replace our original heaters. It was overall a good heater. It was slim, didn't take up too much space, didn't make much noise and cranked out a good amount of heat. I've had it for less than 2 years and it's already starting to die, meaning I see little sparks in the machine and it barely provides any heat (and can't even heat the bedroom anymore). I would recommend buying another heater that will get your money's worth because this was Not made to last more than 2 winters (in my experience).Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater
I've tried several types of electric space heaters radiant heater with resistive wire ribbon, oil-filled radiator, quartz, and now this. This is by far the best. The ribbon and quartz heaters glowed bright orange, lighting up the entire room. The Sunbeam/Holmes quartz tower heater made a rattling noise from the heating elements and also had a fan which was really loud and quite startling when half asleep. I nearly had a heart attack when it came on a couple of times when I was half asleep. It lasted less than 2 seasons due to an unbelievably primitive thermostat which stuttered and turned on/off every few seconds for as long as a few minutes before it stuck in either the on or off mode. The oil filled heater worked OK for a few years until the heat broke the perimeter weld and it began to leak oil on the floor. This heater is absolutely fantastic so far. Not durable: I bought this product only one week ago and used it three times, now it is broken already.
As to the not efficient part, I really don't have much experience with it, because I was only able to use it three times before it broke.
Here is my exprience:
1. A few pairs of socks and one short gown(after spinning): took one hour to achieve damp dried.
2. Two pairs of jeans(after spinning): after one hour, the top parts were completely dry, but the low parts were still damp. Not too bad. But the timer of the dryer broken during this time. I decided to put up with the broken timer, but then,
3. A short thin jacket(after spining): only after 5 minutes, the dryer stopped working completely.
This product is not refundable once you use it, and to exchange you have to pay for shipping fee and it is not worth the money and trouble to exchnage for another one, which may also break soon. So the best option would be DO NOT BUY IT in the first place.
It is only good for the trash pile.

Honest reviews on Ideaworks Over the Door Clothes Dryer
I purchased the product because, I was desperate, and really needed something, that could be put away, because of the small apartment I have. I wasn't expecting much, and at first didn't want to use the over the door clothes dryer, but, boy was I surprised at the results of the drying, it even takes out wrinkles, and it dryed my clothes within a reasonable amount of time. I would recommend this product for anyone that has a limited amount of space. It's already paid for itself, I wouldn't trade this wonderful product for anything. Thank you, so very much.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Ideaworks Over the Door Clothes Dryer
I can not say junk enough times. Assembly directions are poor, bag ripped while I was trying to put it together. The little heater worked so at least I got something for my money. Plese, save your money and find another way to dry your clothes.Tuesday, October 7, 2014

Buy Lasko Products Flat Panel Ceramic Heater (6221) -
I use mine in a 30 foot RV. After the first year I bought a second one. The heaters are compact and easy to use. The thermostat works well. My RV uses a 30 amp system, so I can only use one at a time if the unit is on high. I close the door to the bedroom section and then using one heater at a time I can heat the bedroom or living room. The heaters have worked well for me and I would recommend them to heat small spaces.
It also would have been nice if they would have made the base have a joint to point the heater up or down. Overall, this is overpriced junk.

I am relatively new to the tea scene (my wife and I started drinking Teavana teas about a year ago) and as such I have been searching for a really good kettle. I wanted an electric kettle because of their ease of use as well as the extra features some of the nicer kettles offer. After an exhaustive search I decided upon the Breville SK500XL Ikon Stainless-Steel Electric Kettle based in no small part to the excellent reviews it has received on Amazon and other sites.
I went to a few stores to examine it in person and compare it to about ten other electric kettles that the different stores carried but nothing seemed to come close to the design and quality of the Breville. So after finally making my decision, it was simply a matter of time before I made my purchase. I am very glad I waited as within 2 weeks this new Breville kettle was released. While still substantially costlier than the SK500XL, the BKE820XL has a number of features and design improvements that made the extra cost more than worth it. These include:
Multiple temperature settings (different teas require different temperature water for an optimally brew) with 20 minute hold
Improved water level indicators now on both sides (the single water level indicator on the SK500XL is behind the handle which makes it hard to read)
I've only had my BKE820XL a few days (I purchased it from a local store) so I cannot speak to its long term reliability yet, if it is anything like the SK500XL, I don't expect to have any problems.
Oh yeah, and the tea I've made in the last few days is easily the best I've ever brewed! Yay!
UPDATE 1/2/2009: I've had the BKE820XL for over a month now and I still love it! The only thing I've found that I would critique is:
After you are done boiling water for the day, you need to either dry out the lid by hand or leave the lid open for a few hours to let the water evaporate (from the lid where it collects). I am concerned that not doing this might lead to issues down the road.
Even with that, I am still overjoyed with my purchase (which I use at least 5 times a week) and highly recommend it to anyone in search of a quality electric kettle.
UPDATE 3/12/2009 Nothing much to report except that my wife and I are continuing to use our kettle mutliple times a week and are extremely happy with it. It has a permanent place on our counter! :)
UPDATE 09/26/2010 Just wanted to pop on and provide a quick update. We have had this kettle almost 2 years now and have yet to have any issues with it (fingers crossed). We have used it at least once a week (if not a lot more) pretty much without fail and are still very happy with it. At this point if something were to go wrong with it, we wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one. Highly recommended. :)
UPDATE 09/30/2010 A commenter chastised me a bit for not mentioning the BPA controversy in my review. As I mentioned in my reply to her, I would caution everyone to be sure to read the actual scientific papers or publications that are as unbiased as possible. I find a great source for all things scientific to be Arstechnica.com. They have a great way of breaking down complex topics in ways that non-scientific types (like myself) can really understand and absorb (see this BPA article as an example: ).
If you don't want to wait for a conclusive link between BPA and health issues (of which there has not been one to date that I am aware of), I can completely understand and sympathize. If I had an infant I would definitely be doing all I could to minimize their BPA intake. Still, with that said I would ask that anyone concerned by this or other health issues please try to represent the facts in your arguments and not the hype; this allows others to make their own, informed decisions as well.
UPDATE 09/04/2011 We've had our Breville almost three years now and have yet to have any problems with it. Most of the negative reviews seem to be in regard to the potential BPA issue which I've already posted my opinion on (both above & in the comments to this review) however a few have mentioned actual mechanical issues. Perhaps they use theirs more than we do (we use ours at most once per day but probably more realistically about 3 to 4 times a week on average) or maybe they just received a lemon (or perhaps ours is the exception, I couldn't really tell you). I have noticed recently that the lid sometimes stays shut while the water is still hot; I don't know if it has always done this and I never noticed before or if it has recently started to do this, either way I look at it as a design element (to help keep me from spilling hot water on myself) but perhaps it is a design flaw? Regardless all I do is tap on the lid once or twice while pushing the button and it opens right up. Other than that it works just as well as the day we bought it (I still don't have a decent thermometer so I couldn't tell you how accurate it was new or used but the water still seems as hot...for whatever that is worth).
UPDATE 04/09/2012 Well I am sad to report that, after almost 4 years of service, our Breville appears to be on its last legs. Over the last few months we've started to notice some faulty behavior that I suspect is indicative of our unit's impending death. Here are the issues that have started to plague our kettle:
Kettle does not shut off at the proper temperature: this is happening more and more we mostly use our kettle for coffee these days and I use the second highest setting (195 degrees) for our Chemex. The issue is the kettle doesn't always shut off at 195 degrees but will go to a full boil instead. I do not know if it would eventually shut itself off or if this is a true safety issue as I've always notice the issue right away. This is not a huge issue (provided the safety shutoff is still working, which is unknown) as much as an inconvience but it does not bode well for the kettle's future.
For the first time this morning, the Breville shutoff prematurely. I turned the kettle on, set my temperature and the temperature hold and walked away. When I returned (less than 5 minutes later), the kettle had shut off and the water was nowhere close to the 195 degree that it was set to. I was unable to get the kettle to heat up the water to the 195 degree setting as it would (by the sound of it) start to heat up but then before the water was hot enough, it would shut off. The water never got to the correct temperature and the kettle never shut off. It seemed stuck in a repeating cycle. I eventually set the kettle to its highest setting (205 degrees) and the kettle started working again.
To me these issues seem to indicate that the kettle is having issues with its electronics and not with the actual heating unit itself (but obviously this is purely speculation on my part based on my anecdotal evidence). Being that this is the only "high end" kettle we've owned, I don't know if 3+ years is a normal or acceptable lifespan for a tool such as this. I know it only comes with a 1 year warranty but for the price, I had hoped it would last at least 5 to 10 years but perhaps that is unrealistic? Being that my wife and I are mostly coffee drinkers these days, we probably will replace this kettle with gooseneck spout type kettle (like this Bonavita: Bonavita 1.0L Electric Kettle BV3825B) instead of another Breville. Overall I'm still a fan of our kettle and will be sad to see it go.
I believe my original score of 5 stars still stands though I'd change it to a 4.5 if Amazon allowed 1/2 stars.
Regardless, they weren't going to change my mind. I don't feel comfortable with polycarbonate around my boiling (or close to boiling) water and in this day and age where BPA is a huge uproar, I am super surprised that Breville came out with a brand new kettle containing polycarbonate. I would have loved to see this kettle have a glass viewing window and lid, that would have been super! Especially with the price point they are selling this at. Having it be a "toxin free" kettle with no plastic would have been a great marketing move.
I did reply and thank them for the information and politely told them I would be returning it due to the polycarbonate, but that if they came out with a version that had glass instead of polycarbonate, I'd snap it up in a second. I received no further reply from Breville.
I did it the old fashioned way with a thermometer. Needless to say, but I will anyway, this kettle did make life simpler, but, (always a but) it has not functioned as advertised.
The primary issue is on the boiling setting for black teas. Sometimes it shuts off, and sometimes it doesn't. The other presets have worked flawlessly, and this may only be an anomaly with this particular pot.
I will say that I am going to order a second one, and send this one back to Breville for repairs. That should tell you how much I like the idea of this kettle.
Now, why the 1 star? As some others have commented, Breville kettle uses plastic material for the water-level windows on both sides of the kettle not BPA free. Even plastics that have no BPA still leach chemicals into water at boiling temperatures, so the use of plastic instead of glass in a kettle is truly not acceptable any more.
Here are some numbers, to support this potentially serious issue. I recently purchased ZeroWater Water Tester ZeroWater ZT-2 Electronic Water Tester, which measures the amount of dissolved particles in water (with very consistent and accurate results; highly recommended, may change your water drinking habits). We are fortunate to have relatively clean municipal water, its reading came in at 47 TDS (typical range in the U.S. is 51-200), which Brita pitcher gets down to 35 TDS. After boiling Brita-filtered water in this Breville kettle, the TDS reading went UP from 35 to 90 TDS! The same Brita-filtered water boiled on the stove in a non-stick pot went up from 35 to 43 (after boiling for 3 minutes). In a steel pot, the particles' reading went up from 35 to 47. The particles concentration goes up, in large part, due to evaporation of some of the water by steam, thus leaving a higher concentration of heavier (non-evaporating) particles in the pot.
I repeated the test a few days later. The absolute readings were +/3 from the above results, but the conclusion was still very much the same using Breville kettle to boil water adds chemical particles to your drinking water. You have to decide for yourself are the satisfying performance and stylish looks of this kettle worth adding significant unnecessary and potentially harmful plastic particles into your body.
UPDATE 11/15/12:
After about a year, 2 performance issues developed:
1. The auto-shutoff stopped working it actually got delayed, rather than completely not functioning the water would boil and boil, for 5-10 minutes, before the kettle would finally shut itself off.
2. Kettle started leaking at the bottom of the handle. Not a few drops type of leaking, but a little stream.
I'm looking for a replacement now.
I feel that for what this kettle costs it should have lasted a lot longer. If I had written this review when I first got this kettle I would have given it 5 stars, but experiencing such failure in so short a period of time I can only give it 1 star. I wonder how many of the 5 star reviews were posted right out of the box.
I really got spoiled when this kettle as working properly. I'm on a quest now to find a reliable replacement.

First, this kettle is gorgeous! I bought it for it's beauty and easy to use variable temperature and the fact it had a viewing window to easily see how much water was inside. Before I used it, I emailed Breville to find out what type of plastic the viewing window was made from. The response I received was a defensive email about how polycarbonate and BPA are safe for food contact and this kettle is safe. I've been reading the research on BPA and polycarbonate for years, so they didn't share anything new with me. I would have preferred their response to simply state "polycarbonate" and then offer to provide me with more information if I had any concerns.Regardless, they weren't going to change my mind. Honest reviews on Breville BKE820XL Variable-Temperature 1.8-Liter Kettle
Despite the 1-star review, which I will get to in a moment, this Breville kettle gets 5 stars for performance and aesthetics, both of which are addressed in detail by others in their reviews, so I will not repeat. It gets 4 stars for durability I have had the kettle for about 2 years and it still works great, however less than a year in, the inside bottom developed several dozen small white spots. I have tried more than once to remove these with baking soda but they persist (I never boil anything other than Brita-filtered water).

I got this kettle to brew the perfect cup of coffee and I loved it for the first 6 months. Then things started going south. The kettle intermittently does not shutoff when it reaches the proper temp of 200F. Instead it continues to heat to a boil and will boil itself dry unless turned off. Now the audible alarm has stopped working. I can't trust the thermostat and the kettle shouldn't be left unattended the 2 main reasons for purchasing it!I feel that for what this kettle costs it should have lasted a lot longer. Accumulair Carbon Odor Block Filter Reviews
I really want to love these filters. We have two cats. Two cases of severe seasonal allergies. And an aversion to anything that doesn't smell like Roses. We have five filters installed at once. Can we tell the difference...don't know. Our noses get used to smells quickly. There is no denying they filter well, but I can't tell you they will completely freshen up your home. We are going back to a similar filter without activated-charcoal. If we can then tell the difference, then I will update this post with a higher rating. If we can't...the review will remain the same.
A side note...Customer Service from FiltersNow through Amazon was spectacular!
UPDATE: Over the last few months we have really begun to notice the difference these filters make. Our first example is a visit from a severe, cat-allergy sufferer. A cousin of ours spent nearly an entire week with us and found that his usual cat allergies did not act up at all. Recently, the true test has come. I replaced every carbon filter with a high end 3M filter (no activated charcoal). Within days, we began to feel a general discomfort at constant subtle smells throughout our home. We allowed the 3M filters to do their job for 6 weeks, then went back to the Accumulair Carbon. By the end of the day of re-installation, the house was fresh and comfortable again. We had such a great night's rest that very same night that we ordered a supply of Accumulair to last us the rest of the year.
I am no recommending these strongly to anyone that will listen.
I've always wondered why a charcoal-activated/carbon air filter was never available for whole-house HVAC systems. The makers of Accumulair must have pondered the same thing because here, after all these years, is an odor absorbing air filter for the house!
OK, I'll cut to the chase. This filter does a great job of absorbing household odors. It works like a regular particle filter and is just as easy to install. It's available in every size imaginable (be sure to double-check you're ordering the right one since that dropdown-menu size selector has enough sizes to make your eyes cross).
Four, not five, stars because it's not a super effective particle filter compared to a "regular" non odor-absorbing filter. The filter is more like a sponge material rather than cross-woven fibers or microfibers so there are bigger pores for some dust/allergens to penetrate. Allergy sufferers might fare better enduring the smell of last night's fish dinner instead of circulating bigger particles than a standard filter would catch. But it does exactly as claimed... it clears the funk from the air. (Well, maybe they didn't use the word "funk"...)
Edit: The new shipment of 6 filters showed more light showing thru the filters, which means they used less charcoal. I was kind of disappointed.
I've since decided these are inferior to Nordic Pure MERV 7 Plus Carbon Air Filters 1 inch. Accumulair reduced the amount of charcoal in their line of filters. You can see right thru them now!

Bought this filter to stop the smell of grass from my lawn mower seeping up from the basement. Does the job as advertised. Definitely recommend and definitely will buy more when needed.Best Deals on Accumulair Carbon Odor Block Filter
Stinky fumes. Not only do they singe your nose hairs, but chances are they're toxic! Chemicals, cigarette smoke... we know the aren't good for us.I've always wondered why a charcoal-activated/carbon air filter was never available for whole-house HVAC systems.

These seem to work pretty well. I rent and am worried about smoke and cooking fumes accumulating. I have a 1 BR apartment with the return duct in an AC/Heater closet located near the kitchen. I would suggest stocking up on these and replace them once every 1-3 months. I suppose it's not going to trap all the smoke and cooking fumes, but it's better than the cheap cotton candy filter material that was in my apartment's heater/ac.Edit: The new shipment of 6 filters showed more light showing thru the filters, which means they used less charcoal. Review of Sunbeam SLP3310-UM Low-Profile 1000/1500-Watt Convection Heater
I purchased two of these units both failed after a few weeks. Problem was identical the units would work fine, but when shut off, would not power on again. The indicator light might blink, but then nothing.
I have found the problem is the cheap, polished 2 prong power plugs on these heaters. After a few uses they do not conduct enough current for the electronic control to be able to apply full power to the element.
The fix? Simple. Use an emory board to "roughen up" the plug power prongs so that a decent contact is made when the plug is inserted in the outlet. Then, buy a decent three conductor, grounded power cord and replace the AC cord entirely. At least, cut off the cheap power plug and replace it with a good plug with conductors that can carry the current needed.
If you can't do this competently, take the units to someone qualified to perform the repairs. Obviously, poor electrical connections can cause fires and would, if these units didn't have the "smarts" to see the faulty power and shut off the unit entirely.

It was nice while it lasted. We woke up this morning and the heater was off. We tried everything, and nothing would get it to turn back on no buttons worked, unplugging it and then plugging it back in didn't work, nothing. It worked well for the month that we had it, and now it just suddenly died.
I am buying 2 more to replace other models I tried that just don't work as well as these.
I live in Minnesota in a commercial loft with 12' ceilings, 10' windows and hardwood floors. Heating this place evenly can be a challenge! However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that a few of these heaters were up to the task; they've made all the difference for me. I had been relying on my natural gas forced-air furnace, but the ceiling registers were too high in the air to heat the place evenly. Placing a few of these along the walls areas gave me nice, even heat throughout the apartment and sharply reduced my furnace's workload.
Even with all the cubic space created by 12' ceilings, a single heater can handle an impressively large area: each unit heats about 250-350 sq ft in my home and it doesn't seem to have a hard time keeping up. The programmable thermostat allows you to toggle-select temperatures from 65-85 (in 5-degree steps), the automatic shut-off timer has settings for 4, 8 and 12 hours. The energy saving feature cycles the wattage to save electricity consumption over a long period of time. This does reduce the heat produced (despite the claim that there is no noticeable difference) but the reduction is slight enough that I consider it a pretty good trade-off.
Outside it's variable "energy saving" mode, the unit uses a continuous 1500 watts and about 12 amps. The unit doesn't seem to be fragile and looks/feels well made. Dependability hasn't been an issue for me at all, and I now have three of these that I've pretty much been running continuously. These units are also pretty light and easy to move: there's even a small hand grip on each end to make it easy to grab. The claim that this is a silent heater is absolutely true you won't hear it at all except for some soft metallic expansion "pops" from the metal grate as it initially heats up. The size is pretty manageable also. It's about as wide and tall as the boiler drawer beneath a standard oven and is about as thick as a box of Kleenex.
All in all, I've been really pleased with these heaters. For a pretty small investment, they've made my home much more comfortable this winter and haven't been intrusive while doing so.
If anything changes I will post an update.

We bought this heater for our living room to try to avoid using our central gas heating very much this winter. Our living room is fairly large, and this heater is doing a pretty good job so far. We closed doors so that it's heating just our living room and kitchen, and it has stayed very comfortable for the most part. There have been a few nights though where it was a little colder (in the 20s and 30s we live in Georgia!) and it did seem a little chilly in the room, but not COLD. We haven't noticed any significant change in our electric bill either, and we run this heater almost 24/7. Overall, it's a decent heater for keeping our living area comfortable, but if you live in an area that gets very cold, this may or may not work well for you (depending on the area you want to heat and the insulation of your home).***UPDATED*** 12/15/09

I purchased two of these last year ('08). I had to take one back to the store because it failed, but the replacement worked perfectly. I click the auto temp to 65 degrees and my rooms are warm (I also have 12' ceilings). I used these in place of the baseboard oil heat (when oil was $4 a gallon) and my heating bill was about $350 a month through the cold northeast Pa. winter. Oil would've been about $1000 a month.I am buying 2 more to replace other models I tried that just don't work as well as these.

I bought this item from another vendor in person and paid a little less than Amazon's list price. So far so good though with this heater. It was easy to get startedjust remove the packaging materials and plug it in. At first, like your furnaces, the unit smells as it heats up. It puts out a fair amount of heat too. I am using mine in combination with a second space heater to avoid turning on the gas furnace as long as possible. I have a small home so it's nice and warm. I would recommend this to people who have a small space to heat. I'll be testing it in the basement soon. That is also the reason for only 4 stars. I really haven't had it long enough to put it through all of it paces yet. Once I do, and I expect it to pass with flying colors, I see myself getting one more possibly. If anything changes I will post an update.

Review of Black & Decker BDHF300 Heater Fan
The Black and Decker heater is a pretty good heater at a value price. It's got several different settings depending on the size of the room you want to heat and puts out a lot of heat in a limited area. One nice feature is the temperature indicator. It's also got a Frost Watch setting which will automatically turn the heater on if the temperature drops below 40 degrees. It also has very nice safety features. Including a switch under the heater that is pressed when the heater is sitting upright. If it should tip over, the switch is deactivated and the heater automatically shuts off.
It's a very nice little heater.
This heater doesn't get very hot. You can touch it when it's set to it's highest setting. I suppose it would be good to keep a storage room above freezing or maybe it'd be good around pets or kids since you couldn't possibly burn yourself on it.
For the price you're going to pay, I say skip this one and keep looking.

I have owned this little workhorse for 7 years. It is safe with grandkids and pets, reliable as the sun, and very effective heating for a small to medium-sized area. Mine is finally giving up the ghost after all these years, and I plan on replacing it with another one just like it.Best Deals on Black & Decker BDHF300 Heater Fan
I work in an office in CT that is all glass. In the winter our central heating system has some trouble keeping up b/c it's very, very cold near the windows and this heater is NOT good. Other space heaters I've had are able to warm the room much quicker and maintain that temperature. This heater doesn't get very hot. You can touch it when it's set to it's highest setting. I ordered a new photo cell from Amazon and it shipped from Desa ( somepalce around Dallas). Arrived in 3 days, was as advertised and upon arrival installed in less than 5 minutes. Resolved the shutdown problem and now heater is like new. The test procedure is good reference. The photo cell has very high resistance ( someplace in meg ohm range) when no light available. With a 60 watt bulb the resistance should be below 500 ohms ( not a fully closed contact). The new one has about 45 ohms resistance with a 60 watt light source and apparently the flame has a light source about the same intensity as a 60 watt bulb. Safety swithc now works as it should.Desa International PP216-MP4 Photo Cell
