With this humidifier I do not have that worry that I had with so many before when I would leave it on when going to sleep. This one seems to automatically turn itself off with not problem to the system itself, quite a relief. Also, filling it up is pretty easy. I pull out the top part/bucket, flip it upside down, open it up, fill it up. Although, I could see somebody who doesn't own a bathtub having difficulties fitting this into the sink. If this was true, then you would just have to fill it up like most other humidifiers by taking water to it and filling it.

There was a complaint about the direction in another review. Yes, it does shoot the moisture straight up into the air. But if your room has a fan (mine is a ceiling) going then this shouldn't be a problem. Do be careful not to leave it at full speed in a closed room for extended periods without a fan. I have done this a few times when leaving for work and noticed that there was some dampness surrounding it when I got home. Nothing severe, it evaporated within a few minutes of me turning the machine off.

I am very, very thankful for this humidifier. Especially since it doesn't use filters so mold isn't a very big issue. With this one I will wipe it out every month or so, no big deal.

I like the humidity output, it works great. It's not the quitest humidifier I've owned. I currently have two of these, and the problem I'm experiencing with both, is that some black residue builds up in the reservoir. I have poured some vinegar in the tank each time I fill it but it doesn't do the trick. any ideas out there? (HELP PLEASE)

Purchased this unit for the baby's room. Water vapor output is very good, strong and visible, especially when turned on High. The only problem is that the vapor settles around the unit so you will have a wet floor/carpet surrounding the unit IF you have it set on High. At mid-setting, very little to no moisture on floor and vapor output is still decent. Just be aware of this, I definitely would not place it on a table because of this. Good unit, would still recommend.

I purchased this unit at Walmart (Ohio) for $42.oo. I also bought a bag of tablets to put in the tank, and they cost $3 and will last atleast a couple months I am sure. I love how quiet this tank is and the unit itself is very beautiful, not bulky like some of the machines that just look like a big medical machine. I really like the sleek look of this one. It says it is for a medium room and I think that is accurate. I put this in my livingroom during the day, which is large, and it's not quite enough to eliminate static 100%. I do notice my nose doesn't burn anymore and there is no static in my (or families) hair anymore, but I did get shocked /w static electricity when I went to change settings on my ceiling fan today, lol. My fault because it says medium roon, not large (or extra large). At night, I carry this into my bedroom and the room is small and this is more than enough misting and I am hoping that my scalp will not be so itchy in time. That and static and burning nose are main reasons I bought it. I love that I can SEE alot of mist coming from this! If I can't see it, I never think they work. I'm optimistic about this unit and I just purchased it recently. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING with all cool mist humidifiers is DO NOT BE LAZY when it comes to reading the maintenence requirements. As far as I know, this one only requires a good emptying every other day, and wipe it dry as best you can, and ONCE A WEEK, soak the inner tank with a mild bleach and water mix. I think this part is very important in eliminating the potential for bacteria. Overall, i give this unit 4 stars, as a new user. The only con so far would be the one others have mentioned about not having a directional nozzle to point air. 75% of the time, I would probably have it pointing straight up into the air anyways. Good buy!

I like this humidifier. It shoots the vapor up fairly high, and is easy to operate. It also runs quiet so does not disturb your sleep.

I realize this is a long review, but this is a relatively pricey unit, so I figured you would want all the hot poop! LOL I purchased this unit to replace an old thru the wall unit that died. Its time had come.

INSTALLATION: I had someone else install it into an existing sleeve in the wall. He had no problems with installation. May be different if you are making a NEW through the wall installation. Also, be aware that this Frigidaire unit requires a 220 electric line. I already had a 220 outlet in the wall from my old unit, but if you don't have such an outlet, you will have to employ an electrician to install one. How to tell if your outlet is 220? The prongs are not turned the same way as a regular outlet. Try to plug a lamp into it. If it won't fit, its probably a 220 outlet. BTW, the electric cord comes out of the LEFT side of the unit when you are facing it. My outlet is on the right side but the 6 foot cord easily reaches it. If you don't want a dangling cord, install your outlet on the left.

CAUTION: Be sure to let this unit (or any AC unit) sit right side up for 24 hours either before or after installation BEFORE turning it on, in case it was turned on its side or upside down in transit. Otherwise you could damage the unit.

REMOTE: The neutral ivory unit itself is attractive; my old one was black and brown, a real eyesore. The easy to use remote is a FULL FUNCTION remote, so you never have to touch the unit once it is plugged in, except to adjust the louvers. You can move the louvers from level to up towards the ceiling (but not down toward the floor) and from right to left and everywhere in between to direct the air flow. The unit has 4 fan speeds: low, medium, high and auto, all accessible via remote. The remote also has a built in thermometer so you can check the actual room temp. Appears to be relatively accurate, but I don't have another thermometer to check it.

COOLING: I've been using mine for about a month now. Its set at 70°, low fan speed, and auto cool, nonstop. Initially it took about 10-12 hours for the house to completely cool down, since even the walls were hot to the touch. Now it runs 24/7 and my 625 square foot first floor is always comfortable. That's saying something because we just had 10 days or so of temps in the high 90s. UGH! Two days ago the actual temp reached 103°. Factor in the humidity and it felt more like 109°. Here in Southeast Pennsylvania, humidity is a four letter word! This unit never missed a beat. The house was comfortable through it all. Keep in mind that I have two 6' x 30" south facing windows and a 6' x6' sliding glass door facing west and the sun beats in all day till sunset.

FAN: On Auto, the fan does cycle on and off frequently. I got used to it. Of course, the fan is noisy, (its a fan!) but not annoyingly so on low speed. Its in the dining room between the kitchen and living room and does not noticeably interfere with the TV in either room. And on Auto mode, the fan only runs when the unit is cooling. Since the fan doesn't run all the time, I do run a cheap pedestal fan in the corner of the living room for additional air flow, which is considerably quieter than the AC fan.

COST: I have not received an electric bill with a full month of use on it, but I don't expect a problem. The key is to run it 24/7 to maintain the temp and humidity so the house never heats up. Maintaining the temp is less work for the unit than cooling it down once it gets hot.

AWORD OF CAUTION. CHECK WITH YOUR POWER COMPANY'S WEBSITE. MANY POWER COMPANIES OFFER REBATES FOR THE PURCHASE OF ENERGY STAR ELECTRIC APPLIANCES LIKE THIS ONE. IF YOUR POWER COMPANY OFFERS SUCH A REBATE, BE SURE TO COPY THE SERIAL NUMBER THATS ON THE SIDE OF THIS UNIT ***BEFORE*** YOU INSTALL IT. AFTER IT IS INSTALLED YOU HAVE LOST THE SERIAL NUMBER BEHIND THE WALL AND WILL LOSE YOUR REBATE. Hmmm . . . Guess how I know that?

I am just about to order this product so please ignore the arbitrary 3 star rating!

I just wanted to help other people out who are trying to see if this product will fit an existing through the wall sleeve!

The specs listed are, "Product Dimensions: 20.5 x 24 x 14.5 inches ; 73 pounds."

You may be saying, "What Length x Height x Depth right?" or maybe Height x Length x Depth?

NO! You would be wrong! As per the Sears.com website for the same product Amazon has listed this as Depth x Width x Height!

Soooo just to be clear...

Width: 24

Height: 14.5

Depth: 20.5

I bought this A/C to replace a very old behemoth of a Frigidaire through-the-wall A/C from the mid 1970's. This is one of the only 220 volt A/C's I could find, by the way, which is the same voltage as my old A/C. I was worried that this new A/C would be too small for the old sleeve which is 26" wide by 16.5" high. I was wrong. This new A/C seems to have been designed for the old sleeve that I had. The first step is to remove the old A/C which is definitely a two-man job. You should be sure to put a plastic sheet on the floor in front of the A/C before you remove it. Also have a bucket and some sponges handy. This is because the bottom of the old A/C has a drip pan which is probably full of water. After removing the face-plate, you then pull the old A/C out as straight as possible, maybe wiggling it a bit to get it sliding. It is not screwed or bolted in. It just takes a lot of strength and pulling to get it out. The directions to the new A/C recommended replacing the old exterior grille with the new grille provided. I tried this, but the new grille was too small, so I put the old one back on. Other than size, I noticed very little difference between the new grille and the old one anyway. The new A/C includes lots of different types and sizes of foam insulation, padding and cushions for using around it. After measuring the inside of the sleeve and the new A/C, I decided to first line the outermost top and side edges of the sleeve with the 1.5" stick-on foam strips. I left the bottom edge uncovered because that is where the drain holes are. Then I placed the four dense foam "centering blocks" in each corner of the sleeve floor facing inward (these are the blue pieces that are cut in the shape of stairs). In order to prevent the new A/C from snagging and moving the centering blocks while being slid into the sleeve, I then cut two long and narrow pieces of cardboard and placed them on top of the centering blocks. The new A/C is much lighter than the old A/C, but it is still good for two people to lift it and carefully slide it into the sleeve across the top of the cardboard strips. After it is centered in the sleeve, you can then lift each side one at a time and gently remove the cardboard strips. Voila! A perfect fit with the A/C resting about 1" off of the bottom of the sleeve with approx. 1" of space around each side. You then cut strips of foam for each side, the top and bottom, and then push it in around the front of the A/C. The finishing moulding/edge piece included with the A/C provides a very nice look that hides the foam and the lip of the old sleeve. I did, however, cut and fit some trim moulding around it as well, mainly to hide the rough edge left by the moulding around the old A/C. I was very pleased with how this job went. I expected it to take at least twice as long as it did. Don't worry if you end up with a lot of left over foam and other materials that are included. After it was installed, the new A/C ran very well and cooled down the room very quickly. It is much quieter than the old A/C, but it still makes some noise, as I would expect from any A/C.

Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA124HT2 12,000/11,700 BTU Through-the-Wall Room Air

I purchased this unit to replace a through-the-wall unit in my condo. The documentation was pretty good; importantly there were specific installation guides depending on the previous unit's brand. Unfortunately, my sleeve is an unusual size. But the unit came with a bunch of foam and fittings so I could make it fit. I especially appreciated the power checking utility that ensures that the right voltage is supplied before the unit can be turned on. Once installed, the unit works great. Quieter than the "library quiet" unit in our bedroom. And the 12,000 btus cool our place quickly and efficiently. A good buy from a reputable company.

It works. We had a week of hundred degree days. I set the unit to 76 degrees and it kept up to that temp. It slid into the existing sleeve easily and came with more foam and weather stripping than I needed. It is noisier than I was hoping for, but it's the fan / white noise that you can tune out after a while.

Bionaire Pure Indoor Living Low Profile Room Heater Review

Bought this heater at Costco last weekend. It's a great design, nicely made, and the remote is a very nice feature. It's about 28" long, and made of good quality matte-finish black plastic, with a black metal grill (the casing stays cool, but the grill gets pretty hot). It's lightweight and easy to move around. The fan is so quiet you can't hear it at all, even at the highest heat setting. There is a red light on the front that is on whenever the heater is connected to power; the control panel on the top has a main power button, a five-level thermostat setting (65-70-75-80-85) with red indicator light for each choice, and a 3-setting automatic-off timer (4, 8 and 12 hours). There is a separate button to activate the 'Eco-Smart' feature, which supposedly cycles the heater somehow to make it more efficient (I have no idea how to tell if it is more economical or not, but it does put out less heat with this setting turned on.)

I bought this heater to use in the office corner of a larger room, so I don't need a blast furnace, but it's not the kind of heater you can put in a cold room and expect it to warm up immediately. Even on the 'Eco-Smart' setting, it does a fair job of heating the immediate area, but it doesn't broadcast the heat very far from the source on ANY of the settings. I'd recommend this heater for a small room (bathroom, den or small bedroom). I wouldn't consider using it in a larger area, such as a family room or living room, and I'd also avoid it in rooms with especially high ceilings, because with this heater, the warmed air tends to rise straight up rather than spread out horizontally.

All in all, not a bad heater, just not a very quick one.

Note added November 19: This original post included review of the remote control which came with my unit from Costco ($45) but another reviewer noted this Amazon unit does not come with a remote. I've revised my review, but I apologize if I misled earlier readers with my error.

I read the previous reviews and was hesitant to buy this but my wife decided to try it. Agree w the ?transformer noice which is very quiet though. Disagree that it's slow. We heat up our master bedroom which is 15x15 and takes very short time to make it comfortable. Typically all we need is to go from 69 deg to say 74 which takes no time and makes the room quite pleasant.

This heater was in use for only 1 month but then broke. It stopped making any heat although all buttons and lights work normally. Even though it has warranty I did not want to ship it back and pay shipping and wait weeks till they fix it. So I opened it up myself and fixed it. As it turned out the problem was a faulty over temperature protection switch. The switch is supposed to be normally closed providing current to the heat element but in my case it was always open so the element never gets hot. Took me a few hours to fix it but now it works again. In addition to over temperature protection this heater also has tip over protection which works without any trouble on my unit. It turns OFF immediately after you accidentally tip it over. Other reviewer is wrong about saying that the fan is quiet. This heater does not have any fan at all. Also, another reviewer mentioned how noisy it is because of transformer. There is no transformer inside. The buzz comes from the heat element. When it gets hot it vibrates slightly. The element is attached to the side walls by only two screws, one on each side. As I had to open it, I know how cheaply it is made inside.

Honest reviews on Bionaire Pure Indoor Living Low Profile Room Heater

I bought this at Costco for 45 bucks and did not expect a lot. It keeps my living room and open kitchen and dining area comfortable (about 700 square feet). Outside the temperature was 32 Fahrenheit. Our house is well insulated and I use insulated curtains (except for the kitchen window ) and It got the temperature up to 68 and for faster heating I turned my infrared heater on at the beginning for about 20 minutes, and the temperature increased to 72. Obviously gas is cheaper, but we are on propane, haven't received my electric bill yet, but I am very comfortable. All with all I like this heater. Its not a fast heater, so during the night I get up at 3:00 am to turn it on and it is ready by about 6:00 a.m.

Purchased this directly from the manufacturer. Thought it was a good deal, nice, quiet heater, no fan, has thermostat, and covers a good area. However, upon trying it on the first cold night (27 deg as a low that night), I had it on for about 20 minutes, then it blew the circuit. Contacted Bionaire and the representative said that it is rated 12 Amps and most homes are 15 Amps. She said I had to remove everything else from that circuit. How is that reasonable? I'd have to trace that outlet to all other outlets, remove everything connected, and dedicate this small heater to its own 15 Amp circuit? I said that is not reasonable and asked for a refund. She immediately denied and said the only way to get a refund was for me to pay shipping to send it back. At the low price I got this, the shipping would have exceeded the purchase price. So I opted not to bother. However, I will never purchase another Bionaire heater based on that low level and unsatisfactory customer service from the Bionaire company and representative.

This heater is great. Puts out a lot of heat for it's size. Perfect for my small room. Has different settings so you can adjust to your liking. The thermostat feature works well even though there is just a dial and no numbers...you'll find the right setting quickly.

Only one problem, and for me it's a big one. After one week the oscillation feature stopped working. I can get it going again if I give it a boost with my hands, but it seems to be failing more often with time and I'm thinking it will stop altogether before long.

Stupid as it sounds, I am probably the only person in Singapore (a tropical country) who has a heater! My office is way too cold and attempts to tell office management to fix it failed. So i got this little heater and it worked just fine. Good decide a little loud but still a well design product.

This was the best purchase I have made in a long time. It works so much better than I had expected. I have two young kids (4 years, 7 months) and a Golden Retriever, so you can imagine how many spills take place at my house. The Turbo Brush really works great on muddy paw prints and spilled juice. I also use it to clean all the accidents that happen in my car. It is very easy to use (just add cleaning solution to the clean water and you're ready to go). It also heats the water/cleaning solution for better cleaning. This is a must have for everyone with kids or pets. I have owned other brands of cleaners before, but from here on out I am a Bissell Buyer!

The brush works pretty well but the vaccum is weak. However, my main problem is that the sprayer stopped working after about 6 months.

When I researched for possible solutions, I found that other users (from epinion reviews) had similiar problems with Bissell cleaners. Apparently the spraying units are poorly designed which means that the users need to run clean water through the sprayer after every use so that the cleaning fluids do not gum up the spraying mechanism. This information is not on the manual and was apparently given by a service repair technian.

The repair cost is about what this unit costs new.

I really wish that I did my research before I bought this unit as it's now useless.

This vacuum is poorly designed for cleaning up the spills I encounter. The cleaning solution gets out the stains pretty well, but the suction of the vacuum is not powerful enough to remove the liquid from the carpet effectively. Also, the opening of the vacuum is small, so small particles of dirt, hair, etc get stuck and make the suction even worse. The attachments are not very useful and the machine is heavy to lug around. The vacuum is considerably loud as well, which gets irritating when it takes five or ten minutes to clean up the smallest spot.

Cleaning the machine itself is also difficult. Particles stuck at the opening of the vacuum can be cleaned by removing a plastic part, but this part is hard to remove and there are grooves the dirt gets caught in that makes them hard to remove. It is a challenge to really clean out the dirty water tank--the design makes it very hard to scrub the sides and bottom, where dirt tends to collect.

A paper towel and some seltzer water is almost always more effective and faster than this vacuum. This machine has become just another item in my donate pile.

We purchase ours 5 years ago @ Target after adopting a new puppy I don't know how we could have lived w/o it. (We have 2 long haired dogs & 2 persian cats in addition to any foster animals) Since I volunteer w/the local animal shelter, I reccomend it to everyone who adopts puppies as well as doggy foster parents.

There are some things to know though buying this doesn't mean you can forgo daily vaccuming and annual carpet shampooing. (We get it done twice a year) The Little green machince is great for quick spot cleaning but don't expect it to work miracles if the "accident" has been sitting for a day. It should be cleaned after every use *never* store it w/ dirty water or the smell is unbearable! We run hot, hot water through after every use (keeps solution from clogging) and rinse the dirty water container with bleach to kill odors. (Just be sure to rinse it throughly before using it again!) As for leaking, we haven't had a problem, so I can't answer that problem.

One thing I've found helpful is pouring salt (Morton's straight out of the box!) on a wet spot right after it happens to soak up the mositure. Let it sit until dry and then sweep and vaccuum. After doing this I then will use the Bissell to get rid of any lingering smell. Also works w/ red wine! (If you didn't catch the accident, wet the area with water first it doesn't work as well as if you catch it quickly, but it helps.)

FYI We installed new carpeting when we got our puppy (No-we weren't thinking clearly!), but it still looks (and smells) like new carpeting thanks to proper maintenance and our Bissell. We're so impressed, we 'upgrading' to the Upright Proheat version and bought a Little Green Machine for some friends expecting their first child. Hope this helps!

We own both the upright Bissell and the Little Green, and use them semi-regularly. I'll admit to being a little obsessive about clean carpet and upholstery, but owning these products makes it easy to keep the carpet of our one year-old home looking great (and has extended the lifespan of our old sofas). The Little Green is perfect for use on small floor messes, the stairs, and couch. Our daughter turned two in October, and, thanks to this machine, we have survived spilled coffee, Children's Advil, soda, juices of all colors, chocolate, and shoeprints-pretty much anything she can dump out or track in, this product can clean up! The full-sized Bissell is great for steam-cleaning entire rooms, but it's too hard to lug up and down the stairs. If you have a two story home, you may want to consider this hand-held canister cleaner for convenience purposes. It's easy to carry and has an extra-long cord, to boot!

I absolutely love this fireplace. It's a great accent to my living room and makes it very cozy. Also, heats up the entire room. Highly recommended!!

Realistic flames and logs as far as electric fireplaces go; has fan that sends heat outward but can operate without fan. Quick warmup. I use it on my 100 sq foot glass side/roofed sunroom in winter (makes entire room toasty despite all the glass) and then got a second as supplemental heat source and ambiance for a 900 sq foot basement/entertainment room. Heats much better than the heater buried in my ceiling fan in the sunroom. Supposedly covers 400 sq feet but I think it does much better. No remote but that's one less thing to go wrong in my book. If you are sensitive to smells, note it has a moderate smell of newness burning at first but it lessens after about five uses. Lots of compliments and requests as to where I got it.

This fireplace is great and it looks pretty realistic. I had a problem with mine, but it had nothing to do with the fireplace iteself and the seller was more than helpful in helping me work it out.

Honest reviews on Grand Aspirations Fireplace Stove BESKG-1500

This is the second product of this type I have purchased in the last year or so. I originally wanted a unit for my 3-seasons room which has no built-in source of heat in the winter time. Unfortunately, the first unit a bought (not this make or model) sat low to the ground. Since my room is carpeted, I just wasn't comfortable with clearance between the heater and the floor. The fire hazard made me move that unit to my basement where I have bare floors. I saw this model and noticed it appeared to sit up higher than other units and sure enough it does! It is easy to operate and is very attractive. The only feature it doesn't have that I miss from the first unit I purchased is a built-in thermostat. This kicks out continuous heat at a level you choose. It has a high and low setting, and you can turn off the "flames" if you just want heat without the light show. Mine runs all the time on the low setting with medium heat intensity, and so far it seems pretty efficient since my electric bill hasn't significantly increased. Because of the lack of a thermostat, I give this product 4 stars. If you have plush carpeting, this unit is definitely worth your consideration.

I spent hours researching every electric kettle available (and looking at them in person, in stores) before settling on this one. I've owned it for about 6 months now, and it's been great. The concealed heating element and the simple one-piece plastic jug design make it very easy to clean (not that I've needed to) and leak resistant (I assume, from a design perspective, since mine has no leaks yet). The only way it could leak is if the grommet sealing the metal bottom piece to the plastic jug developed a leak, whereas most of the stainless steel kettles being sold have several parts, many seams, and thus many places a leak could develop. There is some mild browning of the plastic inside the jug, I suppose a reaction to the high heat. This same thing happened with my roommate's older plastic electric kettle, so it's to be expected. People complain about plastic vs. stainless steel, I settled on plastic for one primary reason: it is a better insulator, so not only will it keep the water hotter for longer, it will be safer to handle in general (ie. it won't burn you or a child if it is accidentally picked up by its sides while it contains hot water). People complain about plastic "leeching chemicals" into the water, I haven't noticed any difference in taste, personally, and I doubt stainless steel would be much "safer" than plastic in this respect. The switch works great, and mine has never spilled water or over-boiled it (as long as it contains the minimum recommended amount of water). The spout and handle shapes make it easy to pour, and the locking top makes it pretty tough to spill. Definitely recommended, I'm buying another one for my parents right now.

PS While researching electric kettles, I frequently saw complaints of how kettles designed for use in the USA don't heat water as fast as those in the UK. This is for a very simple reason: UK uses 240 volt power, USA uses 120 volts. Most electrical receptacles are rated for 15 amps (though the kitchen are often has at least two 20-amp circuits, per NEC recommendations). Watts = volts * amps, which means that UK kettles can get up to 240 volts * 15 amps = 3600 watts, while USA kettles can get up to 120 volts * 15 amps = 1800 watts. Manufacturers might sometimes avoid approaching this limit, perhaps due to safety or liability issues? Just note that this 1750 watt Tfal kettle is very close to the typical USA receptacle wattage rating. It's just about as high as you'll be able to get in the USA...most other USA electric kettles only go up to 1500 watts.

I got more than I expected. Which is good, because it seemed over priced when I bought it. But it was the only one I could find with a truly variable temp control. Now, I think the price was fair.

Pro's

Variable temprature: This is why I picked this product. I wanted full control of the temp of the water.

Filtered spout: I don't use it. Could be useful for keeping tea or any other particles in the pot while pouring.

Dock station: The pot is easily removed from doc, so there is no cord in the way when pouring.

Hidden Cord: Cord winds up inside the dock. Makes it easy to hide extra cord, if you have that luxury. See Cons :(.

Insulated: Keeps water hot for a long time.

Auto off: Turns of when it gets to temperature.

Cons

4ft cord: I could use 1 more foot :(.

Wish list:

Stay On Option: Keeping water at temperature would be a nice option. Rather than letting it slowly cool down.

Thermometer: Doesn't tell you the actual temperature of the water. Not even an estimate on the temperature knob.

I can't imagine anyone not loving this electric kettle. My first one was a gift, received about 5 years ago. It's used numerous times every day and still brings water to a boil as fast as it did for that first cup of tea. The microwave and stove lose the race to the T-Fal. Once the water is at the boiling point for about 15 seconds the kettle turns off automatically. That safety feature rates high on my list of kudos for this product. The handle is extremely comfortable, the pot is easy to fill and pour. We always take our T-Fal Electric Kettle with us when we travel(we have a 4 cup version as well as a 7 cup...I'm sorry they no longer make the small one). I've only been able to find them on line but believe me I never want to be without one.

Honest reviews on T-fal BF6520003 Vitesses 1.7-Liter 7-Cup Electric Kettle, White

We've used this electric kettle about twice a day every day for over three and a half years. It's still boiling (or, more often, not-quite-boiling) away!

The big attraction was the temperature control. Being able to set-and-forget for green tea was essential. Ignore the continuous orange arc over the dial: there are three distinct temperature settings: not-quite-boiled, boiled, and a hearty rolling boil suitable for strong black tea, pasta, and clearing drains. I've accidentally knocked the knob off a few times, but no matter I just pop it back on again in the appropriate position (it goes on only one way). At any rate, since we drink green tea and black tea, we use all three settings constantly so the switch itself gets a fair daily workout too and it's held up well.

Another big attraction was the power of the thing. This electric kettle draws more power than most, but the result is a faster boil time. It can boil up a full load of water in about the time it takes me to set up the teapot. We have huge teapots, so we're usually heating up a full 1.7 liters.

The plastic exterior does get hot to the touch, but the handle stays cool. Unfortunately, the interior is plastic except for the steel bottom, which encloses the heating element. That said, we've noticed no off tastes throughout its long life. Or maybe we're just used to it by now. We're past the age of worrying about birth defects, and as for harmful outgassing, well, we have two boys. You don't know harmful outgassing until you've lived in a tent with two boys.

Actually, come to think of it and writing this review makes me remember this we really meant to return this kettle over 3-1/2 years ago because of the plastic interior, which was a deal-killer. But, we needed a kettle in the meantime. Like a mangy mutt that follows you home, this thing just settled into our kitchen and we never got around to kicking it out. For what it's worth, it has lasted longer than two previous steel-interior kettles we've had, both of which fell victim to corrosion and leaked shorting out the whole device and, in one case, causing some small excitement in the process.

As for care, we might have cleaned it once or twice, probably when we were still thinking of returning it. In the past couple years, we've probably never cleaned it. (You: "Gross!" Us: *shrug*) We generally use filtered water in it, except when we're boiling water to pour into slow drains or onto barbarian hordes.

I'd recommend it unreservedly if it wasn't for that plastic interior, and I totally understand if that's a deal-killer for you. But, for what it is a large capacity, plastic-interiored electric kettle with a temperature control it's a five-star product.

We bought this product so we could take the older model that we already had to our office.

This newer model has the different temperature settings that I really didn't see the need for before purchasing and using it. I do appreciate this feature now because the lowest setting makes it possible to heat water for coffee that is hot enough but is also ready to drink without waiting for it to cool. I used to try to catch the older model to stop it before it came to a full boil--now I don't have to keep a watch on it, and I can get instant chuggable coffee when I need it.

Instant coffee drinkers should love this product.

I bought this to use in my detached garage when I go out for a smoke & coffee in the winter. Works like a charm to warm your personal space!

I had read several reviews. Some said it was noisy and some said it quieted down after a while. The noise level is to high for me. It heats up what I want, but I would not buy another one because of the fan noise;

No mention in the description from Amazon about a FAN! Heats great but too noisy for me. If you don't mind a noise then purchase it.

This thing gets VERY warm. You have to keep it away from surrounding surfaces, for safety sake. But a great little heater. Will not disappoint.

I can not review this exact model as I bought my Comfort Zone Infrared Heater almost 3 years ago. This looks like the newer models out. I use my Comfort Zone Infrared Heater heavily in the cold months to keep my central heating down to a minimum. I have been well satisfied with the performance and the quietness as well as the aesthetics of the walnut finished housing. I keep a lamp and VCR on top of mine and most people think it is a table at first glance. It easily rolls into the closet for the summer months as I usually swap it for a real table.

I, too, have an older model from Comfort Zone. I no longer use central heat...just roll this from room to room. Does a great job. I live in Houston, Texas...so don't need to use it that often, but when it does it cold, I am very thankful I have this.

Thermostat was 8 deg. off. Want it @ 72 then must set @ 80. When on ECO mode the fan never shuts off, On high the unit worked well. Not a good product for the cost. Returned the heater without replacement. Still looking for the right one.

Honest reviews on Comfort Zone Cherry Infrared Quartz Heater

Yes, this quartz heater produces quick, efficient heat. We've had this unit for two heating seasons now and are happy with the heat it produces. The most unfortunate thing is that the thermostat is "out of control!" The only time we use this heater is when we are home (and awake!). The defective thermostat doesn't even come close to the temperature we set it at, so we do not use it overnight, or when we're away.

Very very disappointed in this product.

Within 1 week, I found that it did not heat my house as advertised.

I have stopped using it already and have gone back to forced air heating with gas.

This is a clone of an EdenPure but it is not as efficient.

I am out $300 on a cheap product that doesn't meet it's 'advertised

claims'.

This heater is very nice for the "draftier," colder room(s) that your central heating system can't reach. It also assures that heat, at the right temperature, is in the room when your central heater system's thermostat is in the hallway!

Consumer reports gives it high ratings and rightfully so; it is a simple, easy to use heater that is very quiet when it is on NON-FAN mode. Other space heaters with temperature settings only have a fan or electrical noise when they start up and stay on; this can wake you (or the baby/kids) up at night. This heater doesn't have that rude awakening "turn-on-and-start-the-heat-up" noise when your temperature drops below a certain point; it just releases the heat slowly. If you're a light sleeper, this heater is kind to your ears.

Like other space heaters, it has a quick heat FAN mode that can rapidly expel heat. Some owners may say that the fan is noisy, but it's relatively more quiet than the previous space heaters with fans that I've used in the past. Unlike those other heaters, the HZ-817's FANLESS mode starts heat slowly and keeps a nice warmth around itself and the room. When your desired temperature preset is reached, it then provides a "trickle" of heat to hold that temperature.

It is an intelligently designed product, and I also like the automatic shut off if the unit is accidentally tipped over.

A suggestion for improvement: more range in the knob's temperature settings. For example, instead of going from 65F to 70F to 75F, it would be nice to have in between settings such as 67.5F and 72.5F options as well.

On December 12th 2010 I ordered a Honeywell HZ-817 Baseboard heater. I'd read the reviews posted on Amazon and also checked with Consumer Reports who gave it a high rating. It arrived about 10 days later. We set it up in our 11' x 11' bedroom and it worked great. It provided a constant heat (we like it about 62 to 64 degrees) and without the fan it was completely silent. That lasted about a month. Then it stopped working. I tried calling customer service but the wait was too long so I sent an email instead. I received a reply a couple of days later at first offering to have me ship it to Massachusetts (I live in Maine)for an exchange. A subsequent email alerted me to the fact that they didn't have any more of those models in stock and didn't know when they would. Because of the time of year she offered to ship me a lesser model, the HZ-617 without the Energy Saver mode, and waive the shipping fees. I declined the offer and will ship it to the Memphis warehouse with a 4 to 6 week process time.

When it worked, it worked well. But if it breaks you'll pay shipping costs both ways. I don't know at this point if they have parts available to make the repairs.

We purchased this heater after reading a Boston Sunday Globe review. The Globe tested Eden Pure and several other heaters and gave the Honeywell HZ817 five stars. We turn the oil heat down in the main part of our large house and use the heater in our family room...Works like a charm!!! We love the fast Convection Heat feature and also give this heater five stars*****.

Honest reviews on Honeywell EnergySmart Baseboard Heater, HZ-817

This works great. I live in California where the temperature's great most of the time, but in the winter gets down into the 40s at night and my place doesn't have heat, so I picked up this heater. It heats up my bedroom to a comfortable temperature within 15-30 minutes if I keep the door closed. It's silent when the fan's not on, and creates only a very faint whir when it is on (Quick Heat Mode.) Quick Heat Mode is nice to have but I rarely use it since my small room (about 10 x 12) doesn't take long to heat up.

My only complaint with this heater is a minor one and is possibly due to my obsessive compulsiveness. Honeywell calls it a baseboard heater, which implies that it should be placed near the wall at the baseboard. The instructions, however, say that it should be placed 3 feet away from anything for safety. I realize this may just be the company being overly cautious and covering themselves in case of lawsuits, but I'm now hesitant to place it too close to furniture or the walls, which in a small room is a hassle. May not be necessary though.

Overall, I'm very happy with this heater and would recommend it to others.

We haven't turned on the heater until today received it in April, but has been way to hot to use. Plugged it in, lights went on, but nothing...no heat, no sound, no fan, nothing nothing nothing. Cold as ice. Called their customer relations and waited for a full 45 minutes with the phone on speaker. Finally someone answered and I described the problem. They told me I was responsible for packing the item up, shipping it to them and sending them a $10 fee for processing and handling! This is outrageous, since it has never even been used. I am having to go through the hassle and cost for their defective merchandise. Never again!
