I have purchased two of these heaters and encountered the same problem with both of them.

Granted, they are a low priced heater. I paid $19.95 (on sale) for each of mine.

Both functioned for a few months, being used only occasionally for limited amounts of time to heat my basement workshop.

The amount of heat produced; even at the maximum setting was very disappointing; for both units.

Worse yet; both unit developed the same problem.

They would temporarily shut down and then resume operating a few minutes later. Both the fan and heating unit would shut off, and then resume operating temporarily.

It was like a thermal overload was producing a temporary shutdown.

the end result was that very little "heat" was produced.

The old adage about "getting what you paid for" certainly applies to this heater!

Politely stated; it is a piece of junk!

very disappointed, expected more based on what looked like heavy duty construction. Stopped working shortly after purchase. returned for credit

Honest reviews on Optimus H-3013 Portable Utility Heater with Thermostat

Dont buy this as a heater. Maybe buy this as a fan.

This unit has a few settings: Fan, 500w, 1000w, 1500w.

You have to set it to 1500w to get any sort of heat, and that is just too high of a power draw for too little heat. And the thing sounds like a lawnmowers. The fan is hardly balanced.

Only buy this heater for its cold-war era nostalgia. For heat, you're better off with a tiny ceramic heater box.

With this humidifier I do not have that worry that I had with so many before when I would leave it on when going to sleep. This one seems to automatically turn itself off with not problem to the system itself, quite a relief. Also, filling it up is pretty easy. I pull out the top part/bucket, flip it upside down, open it up, fill it up. Although, I could see somebody who doesn't own a bathtub having difficulties fitting this into the sink. If this was true, then you would just have to fill it up like most other humidifiers by taking water to it and filling it.

There was a complaint about the direction in another review. Yes, it does shoot the moisture straight up into the air. But if your room has a fan (mine is a ceiling) going then this shouldn't be a problem. Do be careful not to leave it at full speed in a closed room for extended periods without a fan. I have done this a few times when leaving for work and noticed that there was some dampness surrounding it when I got home. Nothing severe, it evaporated within a few minutes of me turning the machine off.

I am very, very thankful for this humidifier. Especially since it doesn't use filters so mold isn't a very big issue. With this one I will wipe it out every month or so, no big deal.

I like the humidity output, it works great. It's not the quitest humidifier I've owned. I currently have two of these, and the problem I'm experiencing with both, is that some black residue builds up in the reservoir. I have poured some vinegar in the tank each time I fill it but it doesn't do the trick. any ideas out there? (HELP PLEASE)

Purchased this unit for the baby's room. Water vapor output is very good, strong and visible, especially when turned on High. The only problem is that the vapor settles around the unit so you will have a wet floor/carpet surrounding the unit IF you have it set on High. At mid-setting, very little to no moisture on floor and vapor output is still decent. Just be aware of this, I definitely would not place it on a table because of this. Good unit, would still recommend.

Honest reviews on Jarden Consumer Heater SUL496-UM Sunbeam Ultrasonic Humidifier

I purchased this unit at Walmart (Ohio) for $42.oo. I also bought a bag of tablets to put in the tank, and they cost $3 and will last atleast a couple months I am sure. I love how quiet this tank is and the unit itself is very beautiful, not bulky like some of the machines that just look like a big medical machine. I really like the sleek look of this one. It says it is for a medium room and I think that is accurate. I put this in my livingroom during the day, which is large, and it's not quite enough to eliminate static 100%. I do notice my nose doesn't burn anymore and there is no static in my (or families) hair anymore, but I did get shocked /w static electricity when I went to change settings on my ceiling fan today, lol. My fault because it says medium roon, not large (or extra large). At night, I carry this into my bedroom and the room is small and this is more than enough misting and I am hoping that my scalp will not be so itchy in time. That and static and burning nose are main reasons I bought it. I love that I can SEE alot of mist coming from this! If I can't see it, I never think they work. I'm optimistic about this unit and I just purchased it recently. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING with all cool mist humidifiers is DO NOT BE LAZY when it comes to reading the maintenence requirements. As far as I know, this one only requires a good emptying every other day, and wipe it dry as best you can, and ONCE A WEEK, soak the inner tank with a mild bleach and water mix. I think this part is very important in eliminating the potential for bacteria. Overall, i give this unit 4 stars, as a new user. The only con so far would be the one others have mentioned about not having a directional nozzle to point air. 75% of the time, I would probably have it pointing straight up into the air anyways. Good buy!

Our trusty, 18-year-old Zo was still going strong when the non-stick coating began to peel. When no replacement parts could be found, we faced the inevitable and began to look for a worthy successor. After much research, other brands seemed to have serious issues we hadn't had with our old workhorse, despite its age (it was a hard act to follow!). Plunking down mega-bucks for the Virtuoso took much soul-searching, especially after so many negative reviews of its predecessor, but we checked Amazon's price daily and took the plunge when it went on sale, since it could be returned if it was a dud.

Surprisingly, this machine actually has exceeded our expectations; even 100% whole wheat bread, which in the ancestor Zo could be iffy, is perfect. In both 2 lb. and 1.5 lb. loaves, the crust is just right not tough or hard; the top is golden and even; every loaf/cake, complex or simple, has been almost freakishly flawless (true, you are paying for those double paddles and top heater, but do they ever make a difference!). In true Zo form, it's simple to use, very quiet and stable, and finished goodies slip right out with minimal holes and cleanup. Paddles remain in the pan, not the bread, and separate easily after briefly soaking the cooled pan in warm water. A "Shape" stage can be used to remove the dough to specially form it or remove the paddles before baking (the splines will remain, but the resulting holes will be much smaller without the paddles), and raising the lid will stop the machine temporarily without interfering with the program. Like older models, the initial "Rest" period warms ingredients as needed before mixing so no need to bring them to room temp first, but a cool new feature is the ability to bypass this stage if you don't need it, which shortens the overall time considerably. The "Add" signal also beeps for a longer period so you have less chance of missing it, which is easy to do if you're not nearby since it isn't very loud. Although the DVD manual provided is unintentionally comical and prim, and mind-numbingly redundant, it does have some useful info not included in the written manual.

One consideration before buying would be your available space: since it bakes a horizontal loaf, this is a hefty machine with a footprint 18"w, 11"d, and with the lid raised, 20"h, plus space needed behind and at sides for vents. An extension cord will probably be needed unless parked directly in front of an outlet.

Although we've only begun to tap its many talents, after over a month of frequent use (2 3 times/wk. for whole-grain breads w/nuts/fruit/seeds, banana bread, cakes, and pizza dough so far, and hopefully noodles soon), we're delighted with our new Zo and recommend it without reservation; we also appreciate Amazon's free shipping and right-on-time arrival before Christmas.

Just an added note if you're new to bread makers (and to set straight some previous detractors' comments) for best results with any machine, take the time to measure ingredients by weight rather than volume and add them in the order recommended in your machine's manual, since order can vary by manufacturer and doesn't necessarily match that listed in cookbook recipes. And if you need more reasons to think Zo, check out the King Arthur Flour website blog where they used one to cook almost every dish last Thanksgiving (except the turkey)!

I LOVE my new Zojirushi VIRTUOSO Bread Maker! It has my 'GLUTEN FREE' setting and is so quiet I have to get up close to it to make sure its mixing or kneading! (I read posts on bread makers in general that said they are extremely loud! Not so with the Zojirushi!) I've had it less than 48 hours and have made 2 perfect loaves of bread! The texture, flavor, crust, etc. has been perfect, so perfect in fact that you can't tell its GLUTEN FREE! Zojirushi has definitely brought 'breads & pastries" BACK into this Gluten Free household! I heartily recommend the 'Virtuoso' model to everyone but especially those of us that must be GF! I am totally new to bread machines and reading all the 'How-To's' about programming bread machines that didn't have a GF Cycle really turned me off as too complicated, too much hassel, why bother. I knew I wouldn't fool with all that; or, get so exasperated that I wouldn't bother to use it if it didn't have a pre-programmed GF cycle. The first loaf of bread I made was out of a GF recipe book and it was Cinnamon, Raisin, Walnut bread. I followed the recipe to a 'T' placed the ingredients in the baking unit in the proper order as directed and out came the most beautifully smelling, tasting and formed bread I have had since I became GF! Next, I grabbed one of those pre-packaged bread mixes with all the stuff in the bag; mixed up the wet ingredients, slapped everything in the banking pan in the prescribed order and wondered if this would be as great as the first....OMG! It was! Now my husband has rushed out to get cheese and tomatoes so we can use it to make Grilled Cheese and Tomatoe sandwiches for dinner! Thank you Ziojirushi for

bringing breads back into my house! (My husband thanks you the most, because he doesn't have to be GF but has been forced into it since I banned any & all gluten from this house!) He has many, many GF bread recipes marked in several GF Bread Recipe books I have! I recommend this bread machine for the novice as well as the pro!

We had the Cuisinart CBK-100 bread machine, which died after 2 years. The first loaf of bread we made was Honey White and it was out of this world. Tastes as good as fresh baked bread from a restaurant. Amazing DVD video and thorough instructions. Gives tips that are reinforced by reviewing both. Was suppose to save it for xmas for my wife, but the kids and I couldn't resist an early present to enjoy holiday fresh baked breads and scents every day. Thought about other Zojirushi models like the Supreme, but really liked the selling points on the added lid heater. Glad I upgraded as the crust was perfect!!! Fun to bake with children and they love the fruits of their labor. Look forward to trying all the recipes and then begin experimenting. Hands down, would never second guess this choice. Definitely professional quality after the first loaf. No need to warm up water, melt butter, etc so very USER FRIENDLY!!!

Honest reviews on Zojirushi BB-PAC20 Home Bakery Virtuoso Breadmaker 120 Volts

I have owned bread machines ever since about 1987 at a cost then of close to $600! Since then I have had just about every brand at one time or another. My favorites have been made by Panasonic and Zojirushi. In short you really do get what you pay for in quality and durability. This new "Zo" is heavy duty and makes a truly excellent and normal shaped loaf. I say normal as most make slightly odd shapes that are a little too wide or too tall. The added top heater solves the small flaw the previous Zo had and that was the top would have less color than the rest of the crust. I have had this machine about 2 weeks and have already made 10 loaves. All have come out perfectly including 100% whole wheat.

Our favorite is a rich egg bread also know as Challah and here is my personal recipe:

2 Beaten Eggs with water to equal 10 oz

or 10 oz water and 0.90 oz of powered whole eggs

14.85 oz BY WEIGHT bread flour (I highly suggest King Arthur!)

1.5 t Salt

2 T Sugar

1/3 stick of butter (2.66 T or just cut a stick in 3 parts)

1.5 t Yeast (buy it in bulk here or at Costco as grocery store prices are insane)

Optional: 2 drops of egg yellow food color (I suggest AmeriColor available here)

Set the machine to the quick or normal cycle, light crust, and hit start. DO NOT use the timer as eggs are perishable.

Enjoy :-)

UPDATE: 04-10-2012

The machine is still going strong and has now produced well over 100 loaves of delicious bread. The pan has held up nicely and shows virtually no wear. In short this is a winner.

I am very satisfied with this breadmaker for my purposes. I mostly make the King Arthur Flour White Whole Wheat recipe (found on the King Arthur website and in the book The Bread Lovers Bread Machine Cookbook). I had the Zojirushi Supreme breadmaker, and while it was very nice I found it did not cook the top of some of the breads (especially potato bread or slightly moister breads). If I was off even a little with the ingredients it would sink. I have had excellent luck with this machine for the white whole wheat and potato breads that I like to make. I find for me I have to add 4 tablespoons extra of flour for the whole wheat but it turns out great. One other thing that I do is to look at the dough after the first long kneading. Sometimes it is substantially over to one side. I pull the dough over and even it out in the pan. I end up with a non-lopsided loaf when I do that. Even having to do this I really like this breadmaker. I really think that the extra element in the lid makes a big difference when baking. Also I do find this machine more quiet than the supreme. Other differences that I noticed were that the pan has handles and the blades are slightly thinner and tapered at the bottom (sometimes they are harder to get out of the pan after baking, but I have noticed that they have not once got stuck in my bread, so I like that better). The machine was a little taller than the supreme and the controls are easier to see and use.

I live in a very isolated rural area and my local electric co-op is less than dependable. The power went out for 7 hours once because of a windy day. I have a bad feeling about this winter so I decided to buy a kero heater in case the power goes out. I live in a small trailer that has electric everything. My grandparents used to have a KeroSun that was great so I looked for those and found that the company is out of business, so I tried to find one with good user reviews that was as close to that design as possible. The Sengoku CV-2230 looked promising.

Having never done it before, assembling the heater was a nightmare, though they thoughtfully pre-installed the wick. One big down-side I noticed right away was the flimsy handle. It's a big heater and I'm afraid to pick it up with that handle, especially when it's full. They have small "U"-shaped clamps at the hardware store that I'll attach to each end of the handle where they fit into the holes in the body so the handle can't come out. That should make me feel a little better.

Follow the instructions. Fill and light this heater *outside*, let the flame settle, then bring it in. Don't forget the part where it says to let the entire first tankful burn outside so that the varnishes and residues left from manufacturing burn off and don't create noxious fumes.

When the flame was fully-lit I turned it down and brought the heater indoors. I found that the flame was too high even on the lowest wick-stop setting AND burned mostly on the left and right with practically no flame front and back. The flame was much higher on the right, also. I fiddled with it to no avail and realized the wick needed some surgery. So I disassembled the whole thing to get the wick, lowered the entire wick about 1/8" and gave it a haircut with a good, sharp pair of scissors so the top was even all the way around. It proved impossible to adjust the wick so that the space between the wick and the metal collar is even all the way around so I just said forget it and reassembled the heater.

The operation was a success. You still have to move the burner around and try different seating positions to get the flame to burn as evenly around the edge of the disk as possible but it can be done. The flame of my heater is now 1/2" high all the way around (as recommended), more or less.

Like the fellow above mentioned, this heater puts out a LOT of heat. I read some reviews that complained that the unit falls far short of its 23,000 BTU rating but it was obviously meant to heat a bigger space than my trailer. I leave two windows open on opposite sides of the room for cross-ventilation, otherwise it sucks all the O2 out the air and the heat drives me out of my home. My Doberman loves it, however, and lays about two feet away from it. They're cold-blooded dogs furry lizards, so this heater makes a terrific dog toaster. One trick I use is to turn on just the blower of my central heat/AC to move the warm air around the whole place. BTW, you can raise the humidity in your home by 10% by doing the same thing, turning the shower nearest the heater intake vent on hot for ten minutes.

Took some fiddling but it works adequately and the price was right. Watch out for that handle. As far as I know, the next thing up is a refurbished KeroSun, and that'll cost you.

Our large, drafty, almost uninsulated rental home has a heat pump for "heat", and after one winter of freezing to death we bought this heater... Boy, is it nice to be warm again with REAL heat! We had blocked off rooms and used electric heaters before, and at times supplemented it with the central system which had to use resistance heat at the tune of $2.00 and HOUR to run. Seemed the second the central unit went out, the house was freezing again.

This Kerosene heater is very easy to use, requires minimal maintenance, and puts out a LOT of heat fast. Only real smell is at start-up and especially at shutdown, but if you take the heater outside to start and stop, actual in use smell is almost zero if you use it properly. By properly for my particular unit means flame height as high as possible w/o curling (sooting), and adjusting the burner. Quality of the fuel obviously is a factor, and I have had pretty good luck with the un-dyed K-1 from several stations. With good fresh K-1 fuel, and the unit adjusted properly at operating temp, there is no odor, or so faint I have to try and smell for it, and there has absolutely never been any sooting. You will learn how to adjust the unit as the fuel warms/unit gets hotter, and really enjoy the experience. My family enjoys the soft steady glow the heater makes, and it's nice steady heat, not the on/off feeling from central.

Although the product is perfectly safe for indoor use, I do use and highly recommend a CO detector, never sleeping with the heater on, and not have it too far from where you are to be able to keep an eye on it.

Pro's not mentioned:

Actual use times relative to consumption seem longer than stated. I have used it 12 hrs straight, and no way used close to all the fuel. Seems the fuel gage reads "F" way before the tank is actually full, and "E" well before actually empty.

Extra wicks if needed are very easy to get, but I don't see the need for a new one anytime soon if you "dry burn" as is required every so often.

Lots of safety is built into the unit, and it does have an auto shut off should it fall over

No electricity needed, so they are the perfect "blackout" heating solution

2 yr warranty

Cons:

Contact made to Sengoku USA by email has never been returned, so there may be CS issues down the road

Although generally well made, there are some issues, especially the carrying handle. It flexes a lot especially when the heater is full of fuel, and the handle can slip out because the holes in the side of the heaters sheet steel get wallowed out. To stop this I installed some wire clips, and so far so good.

For our situation (no nat gas available), this heater was the best choice over paying for propane to be installed, or using the creosote laden fireplace. I read a lot of hype, hyperbole, and flat out BS about the dangers of using a Kerosene heater indoors... Yeah, they must really be death machines seeing how the Japanese by the tens of millions use them almost exclusively for primary heating of their non central heat homes. Bottom line, learn how to safely use them/maintain them, and you will be rewarded with plenty of economical heat.

With deep winter upon us, these are great alternative heaters for people on electric heat. They provide 23,000 BTU more than enough to heat 2-3 easily. VERY hot. Foutchie loves to roast her fur next to it. Runs for about 12 hours, a little longer if you cut it back. Easy refill, good protective guard. I have paid $50 more for ones not as high quality.

I have had this brand before and they are long lasting.

Honest reviews on Sengoku CV-2230 KeroHeat Convection 23,000-BTU Portable Kerosene

We use the Kero-Heat 2230 to heat the lower level of our 2600 sq ft home, built in 1940. I did not have high hopes for it at first, and was really expecting it to chug black clouds of kerosene fumes and be high maintenance with wick replacements, soot, etc. In reality, this is the cleanest burning kerosene heater Ive ever witnessed work! We keep our heat at 60f and this heater will heat the downstairs to 72-74f degrees. Its amazing.

It is much more efficient on fuel than I thought too. If you are having a problem with it consuming too much kerosene, then dont keep it on "hi" all of the time moving the knob to a lower burn will produce almost just as much heat. I used to keep it at high until I realized I didnt have to.

Also, we add a product that you can buy at Wal-Mart, or anywhere on the net that costs about $4.00 per bottle. It keeps the wick clean, takes away ANY kerosene fume smell from burning kerosene, and seems to make the kerosene last a little longer. You only add 1oz per 5 gallons of Kerosene.

I really like how the electric igniter works flawlessly. The fuel gauge is accurate and the fuel cap is tethered with a chain, so you wont lose it.

If you are on the fence about the 2230, be assured after you try it out you will be telling people what a great deal you got and "they don't make 'em like this anymore!" because it really is a quality workhorse.

I like this heater, and use it, but find that I cannot use it indoors without tripping my smoke alarms. That's after rigorously adjusting the heater for a clean burn, warming it up for a half-hour in the garage first, and even using odorless fuel. Mind you, the heater isn't smoking far from it. It's as clean a burn as I've ever seen from a kerosene heater. Nonetheless, I can't use it indoors period. So I use it in a machine shed where I don't have the issue. Your mileage may vary.

Pumps out tons of heat and the lighter works flawlessly. It's well made, though the handle isn't stiff enough for the heater's weight. If you're not careful when carrying the heater with full fuel, the handle can slip and detach, dropping the heater. Used within its limitations, it's the best heater of its type out there.

I love this heater. I live in 1000 sq ft home, and this is my only source of heating. It does a fantastic job of keeping us warm. We are using natural gas and the hookup was easy. We can set the thermostat control and don't have to worry. I got a gas heater because of electrical problems and power outages in the winter. This was a good choice.

I like that is mounts on the wall, taking up no floor space.

THIS IS a great heater. It heats the entire first floor which is 1300 sqft and then takes the chill off the upstairs also 1300sqft. On HI the main floor get to 74 or 75F. as the temp goes in the single digits it does not hold up as well. However keep in mind that the area is larger than what they estimate it heats. Go for it you won't regret it.

PS The only thing negative we found was that the wall above the heater gets very hot. Maybe thats because we did not get the fan.

We live in greater Kansas City on the Kansas side. This heater is awesome. I have it in one corner of the basement, it is running right now. Low nightly temperatures this winter & late fall have dipped down into the mid teens and at bedtime we run only this heater. It heats 3 floors of our two story home. The house has never been so toasty.

A fantastic heater at a great price.

We are switching to propane and ordered this heater to put in the basement. It's not as unattractive as what I thought it would be but still personally wouldn't want it in my upstairs living area. We had my brother in law (who delivers and installs propane) hook everything up for us. He said it was a fairly easy install and switching it over to the LP selection. It definitely throws out heat. However, it's not cold enough to use right now so I can't say on how well or poor it does in cold temps. I will say that the blower that is sold with it is not very strong. The angle that it goes into the box and points upwards into the box is almost like it is inhibiting alot of the air flow going through it. But it's not completely useless and does throw some of the air around. As of right now I am happy with this purchase and am anxious to see what it can do this winter, and the reason I gave it four stars is because I don't know yet how well it will heat this winter.

I like the Cadet products. These appear very well made, with good quality heating elements inside. I probably undersized mine because I had limited electric power capacity (60 Amps whole house), but, let 'em run. I hooked them up to Honeywell basic line-in thermostats on the wall. Mine are 240v 500 watt (uses about 2 amps). After the initial new smells burn off, they are quite pleasant. Installation, other than runniing all the wiring, was a snap.

I purchased this heater to replace a Lasko ceramic heater which I have no complaints. The room I use it in has many windows and is over my garage that it not heated. Unfortunately this is my bedroom and it gets drafty and requires supplemental heat. The living pure heater heats evenly and I can use it at a lower temp than the Lasko. I enjoy the added benefit of the humidifier & purifier. It has made it easier to breathe and I dont need the ionic breeze and a humidifier that had to use. I use it about 6-8 hrs at night and I do need to refill the water tank daily. The timer feature is nice too. I dont know if my electric bill will be less but I am using 2 less products and dont use this as many hours as the previous heater.

I ordered this heater thinking that it would work great. Is it just okay. It does work and it gently warms the room. There is no fan, no air blowing out of it. Just passive heat. When you order it, what you get isn't a model 8756, but rather model 9000; so I wish Amazon would update the item description. I don't know whether a fan actually exists inside the unit, or whether mine is broken. I looked inside and cannot see any fan inside.

What is important for this heater to work, at least for me, is the humidifier. Water vapor carries the heat so the small amount of humidity helps spread the heat throughout the room. If you don't use water, then it doesn't feel like the room gets warm at all.

It is overpriced. If the heater was around $120 or so, that would be a good price. But for over $300 it is too expensive for what it delivers. If I could return the heater for a full refund without having to pay for shipping, I would.

I bought a Vornado heater that seems to work a bit better. Although it doesn't have the UV air purifier or humidifier, it actually blows warm air, which in essence is what everyone basically wants to feel.

I bought a similar model to this one from Living Pure.. Model 9000

Bought Three:

1. First one opened, then Power switch is broken

2. Open 2nd one, the top lid is broken where it is attached via screws. Plus the Side Door is not attached, popped out.

3. 3rd One, one of the four wheels is broken. Also the side door also popped out.

It was a bit difficult, but I managed to pop back in the side doors for both.

Thinking that I bought it new, I should not have a problem getting help from Woot (where I bought as brand new items). However, Woot said that they don't have any in stock to replace the purchase, and I have to call the manufacture.

I called the Manufacture, they told me that I have to ship them back (which is fine). However, I have to pay for the ship cost to ship to them, and also pay the shipping cost for them to send the 3 heaters back to me. Now, I just bought them brand new, and received them as broken items, I am really upset that I now have to put out additional $$$ to have them replaced (for all I know, the replacement might be just as broken one way or another).

If this is an indication of their confident in their product, I will never buy another item made by Living Pure.

(side note: Also, I would not buy any expensive items from WOOT again since they do not any responsibility for defect on arrival).

The machine arrived DOA. The flimsy switch on the back of the machine was broken. I called support and they said they would only take it back for replacement if I paid for shipping. I am now trying to replace the switch to get it working. Needless to say, I am not happy and would not recommend this machine.

I recd this heater as a gift from my father, he thought it would heat my family room area with very high ceilings. It only heated the area directly in front of the heater. Also it appears this was not a new product because we found someone elses return information in the box.

right now our husband and i are using this little baby to heat our entire house which is not a mansion but is by no means small. my husband is on the war path about the cost of oil and refuses to use our burner. i'm not saying that the bedrooms don't get chilly (the way our house is designed is most of it is on one floor and the bedrooms are partitioned off from the rest of the house by a series of doors), but the common areas in which we spend the most time are toasty warm. i tend to get hot so i leave the stove on the lowest setting most of the times and that's enough to warm the house. it's a good looking piece of "furniture" and doesn't detract from the room. it eats about a bag of pellets a day on the lower settings and is virtually no work. it stays lit without any tending, reignites easily once it has been turned off, and only requires a vaccumming out every day or so to collect the excess ash. if you buy one, which i recommend, you need to buy the ash vac with it because trust me you will be using it and you don't want hot ash going into your regular vac..

This is an excellent heater for anyone who can provide a 20 amp 210-240 volt power outlet for it. We use the same outlet that supplies our 220 v. air conditioner in the summer months. We set it on Auto so the fan cycles off with the heat when the room temperature reaches our setting. It has a thermal cutoff safety switch that works as it should and cuts off the power if the unit should overheat, such as from a piece of fabric cutting off the air flow. This QPH4A is our basic heat source for one floor of a small house and it really does the job when it's cold outside. The heater is compact and unobtrusive and the best feature in comparison to other heaters in its class is that it is very quiet -no rattling and wheezing, just a soft woosh of warm air.

I purchased it in the dead of NY winter (which wasn't all that bad this year). Heated a 16'x15' studio with 12' ceilings to a nice, toasty temperature. It's tiny & reliable. A great value.

after much searching I settled on the Q-Mark QPH4A Portable Electric Heater for my wife's potting shed and craft room, which is a separate building on our small property location. Works great and it heats her potting shed in record time. Her shed is 10' x 16' with a 10 foot ceiling, and is insulated and covered with T&G interior walls. As such, she only has to run Q-Mark on the low setting. Great product, and is relatively quiet and the thermostat works just fine. Only thing I would have liked added to the Q-Mark would be a visable thermometer to see the actually temperature; but we just added a separate thermometer and that does the trick just as well. Heavy duty and well built, I would recommend the Q-Mark without any doubt! Just buy it, and forget your heater worries!!!!!!!!!

This was a replacement for the same unit that I had for 15 years. Little work horse.

I bought this heater as I have a solar system that has generated tons of extra kilowatts that I am using to lower my gas heating bill. I tried the small portable ones from the big box stores but they are made in China and don't hold up well (and I prefer to employ Americans!) I tapped this into an extra 240 volt range outlet in my kitchen that wasn't getting used. It is a solid heater and is relatively quiet. It seems to be very durable and I did call the company and verify it is manufactured in the Carolinas. The only knock I have on it is that I wish it put out even more wattage. I was comparing it to one from Home Depot that was 5600 watt max and this one is only about 4000 watts. I have a large house and ever bit would help. I was not expecting this to heat the entire house...just to supplement and minimize the amount the gas kicks on. Overall I was happy with the product and I do believe if I had bought the cheaper, made in Taiwan unit it would not have held up as long. Vote with your dollars...buy made in USA products, they are better!

Had this for 1 summer, top is totally covered in surface rust. Product comes with a cheap vinyl cover that we did not use. It works great, is fairly easy to assemble, and very lightweight, so you can move it where you want. Disappointed in the surface rust on top and sides, but will try to paint it with high temp paint this winter and see how it holds up. Rust does not affect the use, but looks poor.

The fire place is very decent size. The design is very nice. The only problem I have had is that when the steel gets hot the fire place door wont clamp when it's shut but the door will stay in place if you just close it. Hear in Wyoming it is still winter but considered spring I have had at least 4 fires each of them lasting more than four hours. I has had rain and snow also wind. I do not keep it covered and encountering those weather features in such a short amount of time it has held up wonderfully. One other thing is that if you need to flip logs it can be rather difficult because it's almost square so it can take some time to do. The fire place took no longer than 10 minutes to set up. All in all it was a very good deal and I would recommend it.

I just received the product in the mail. It did come slightly damaged but not enough for me to worry to much about it. I would just like to warn people it is extremely thin metal. I dont know if it will actually withstand the heat. I have a fireplace in my home and have melted the metal grate in it and it is made from a much heavier steel. I do have to say I love the look of it and cant wait to give it a try but, there is nothing heavy duty about this and I am a bit skeptical. I will update my review after a few uses. And as previously stated the welds on the product are very poor to say the least.

After using the product on several occasions it seems to hold up well. All the neighbors and friends love it. It puts off some decent heat but the ambiance that it gives off is well worth the cost. So far the metal is holding up well. Could not be happier. Every time we have burned it has been at least several hours....so I think its safe.

LOVED this fireplace! I have seen and used a number of outdoor fireplaces; however, this is by far the best quality and style. I LOVE IT! It is easy to open and place wood inside. However, it is also safe enough that I don't have to worry about intoxicated quests falling into the fire like some of the outdoor fireplaces that I have seen. I would highly recommend! Easy to assemble too!

Due to the recent heat wave here in New Jersey I have not used this fireplace to date! However I will say it was easy to put togther but I don't anticipate this fireplace lasting more than a year. When we received this fireplace and began assembly their was a side piece in which the Grate was broken,(poor welding technique), So we called and waited a week for a new piece. When we received the new piece and continued with the assembly we came across another piece that was defective and of course another week goes by until we receive the new one. Upon completion of the fireplace we put the top on and noticed the weld job, on the seam running from the top center to the lower corner. A three year old could have welded better than this! I do wan't to apologize to all three year old kids and to the parents of these three year old kids as it was not my intention to slight any of them but to bring to light how poor the welding techique that was used to construct this fireplace. This fireplace was very light and flimsy. It looks nice except for the weld on the lid. I will say that everytime my wife called about the problems, the customer service reps for "Fire Sense" were prompt and courteous and actually made this purchase a 3 star vs. a 1 or 0 star purchase. If this fireplace lasts more than a year I will update my review.
