I bought this heater after seeing how highly rated it isand you guys were right! This is the best little heater ever. I bought it to keep me warm in the bathroom (I have one of those awful new house designs where the master bathroom is completely open to the master bedroom.) It works great. Gets very hot or just warm thanks to the dial. The only down side is that there is no off switchbut it is just as easy to pull the cord out of the wall as it is to turn a switch off! Portable and can be taken from room to room in one hand.

I love this heater. I use it all the time at work and it keeps me warm and toasty. I love that it has a dial so that if you get too hot you can turn it down. It heats up super quick and turns itself on and off to keep the right temperature. Its nice and small and has a nice look to it too. I like it so much that I'm buying another one to keep my bathroom warm for when I take showers. Oh, and for the people that say there is no on/off switch, you just turn the dial all the way down to turn it off. The light stays on, but the heater will not come on if you have the dial all the way down. Trust me, I have it plugged in at work all the time.

We ordered it urgently since our living room was getting cooler.

-The HoneyWell heater is light and portable, it can be conveniently moved to different rooms.

-It's good for heating small room and perfect for heating up a cozy corner when you are reading a book.

-However the temperature dial is not calibrated (in C/F)

-It heats up ultra-fast. The iron-mesh get very hot & can be a hazard for kids.

-Little loud

-Perfect for wifes/husband who feel cold even in a heated room

Honest reviews on Honeywell Ceramic Space Heater

This is the perfect little heater and I know space heaters as I own about 3 of them already. I use this one at work. We aren't supposted to have space heaters but it is soooo cold at work that I would be absolutely miserable without it. Because of the size, it's easy for me to keep this one out of sight. I keep it plugged in to its own surge protecting power strip so it doesn't ever disturb the other computers in the area. When I leave for the day, I can lock it up in one of my filing cabinets. I can't say enough good things about it. I love the thermostat feature, if I get too warm, it's easy to turn down. I just ordered a second one for my bathroom. If you need a tiny space heater that really warms you up, then this is the one!

I purchased this heater to add a little heat to my office, which luckily for me has a window, but unluckily for me, also has a draft. I've been very happy with the results! The built-in thermostat keeps the office at a steady temperature, which is perfect. It doesn't take up much space, which is also a bonus. Downsides: There is no off-switch, so I have to unplug it at the end of the day. That's not so great, because occasionally I forget if the blower is not actively running when I'm getting ready to leave. The noise level from the machine is reasonable, though certainly not silent. In summary, this model perfectly meets my needs. For the price and convenience, it is worth tolerating the minor downsides. And it was affordable. I'd definitely purchase this model again.

Update 11/26/06: I said I'd purchase this again, and now that I have a new drafty bedroom, I have just ordered this product again. I anxiously await its arrival this week.

After reading Mirielle Guiliano's memoir about food, entitled "French Women Don't Get Fat" and feeling annoyance over the loss of Total Greek Yogurt on the shelves of my local Whole Food (this is temporary), I decided to buy this yogurt maker and simply make my own.

The procedure is a simple one; heat some milk until bubbles appear on the side of the pan and steam actually rises; take off the stove and pop in the included thermometer. When the milk temperature lowers to a specific window indicated on the thermometer, add some milk to 2 tablespoons of purchased plain yogurt or yogurt starter. Mix and then add to the milk in the pan.

As the yogurt maker has slots for 8 containters with lids, simply pour an equal amount of the milk from the pan, put on the lids, cover the yogurt maker and plug the machine in.

The machine sits on a counter; I advise parking it in a place where the digital controls are not interferred with as just one little push will turn the whole thing off. I set my yogurt to "cook" for 14 hours. The result: Great consistancy and flavor that matches store bought without the preservatives and other additives.

The machine includes includes instructions on how to make flavored yogurt; it seems simple, but I have not tried it.

Bottom line: this machine does the trick with little or no fuss. I also purchased the yogurt cheese maker which will allow me to turn my homemade yogurt into a spread that I can use on bread in the AM. Doesn't get any better!

I must admit, I was skeptical. Over the years, I've eaten so much yogurt; in the last two years, I've switched to plain yogurt as most others have so much sugar. It's hard to find plain yogurt that tastes great--both the taste and the texture have to be just so. The best-tasting option I've found is a brand sold at Whole Foods; it's expensive, and it seems that the full-fat version is the only kind with the right texture.

When I read the book "French Girls Don't Get Fat", I thought I'd give homemade yogurt a try and save a little money (sort of like buying an espresso machine, rather than buying a $3 latte at Starbucks every day!)

Yesterday I made my first batch with the Donvier Yogurt Maker. First of all, it's SO simple. Three ingredients: Milk, milk powder, and starter (I used 2T of my regular brand). Four simple steps:

1. Stir the milk powder into the milk (I used non-fat milk, and the non-fat milk powder makes the yogurt creamier)

2. Heat the milk until it almost boils

3. Cool the milk till it reaches 110--simple to gauge, using the thermometer included with the machine--then add the starter

4. Pour into the cups, and let the machine do its work!

I mixed the batch up in the morning, and by the evening I could move the cups to the fridge to chill. This morning I was treated to fresh yogurt; the creamiest, freshest tasting yogurt I've ever had, and it was non-fat with NO additives!

I highly recommend this machine. If you like yogurt, you'll love what you can make at home with the Donvier!

Best Deals on Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker

I recently purchased the DONVIER after reading the French diet book. Like another reviewer...I too use whole organic milk. I do not heat the milk on the stove in a pan...too messy. What I do instead is to put all of the milk into a large Pyrex measuring cup, pop it in the microwave for 6 minutes and it is ready to go. I did not buy the starter, instead, I use a couple of teaspoons from the last jar that I am going to use, whisk it all in the Pyrex, double check the temp. and pour it into the cups.

Honest reviews on Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker

This yogurt maker gives poor results. I used whole milk and added milk powder, as the booklet suggests. It heated it to nearly boiling, cooled it to the suggested temp with the thermometer supplied, added in the powdered yogurt culture that came with the machine, and cooked it in the little cups for 12 hours. All very easy to do. In the end, I had four cups of decent yogurt from the middle pots, and four cups of liquid from the outer ones. It appears that the machine's main problem is too low a temperature, and even lower temps on the outer parts of the machine.

Also, the recipe calls for 1 quart of milk, and that only half fills the little cups.

I'm going to try making yogurt in my toaster oven, which has a 100F setting, and see how that works. I'm disappointed that this little machine doesn't do the one thing it's supposed to do heat the 8 cups and produce yogurt after 10 hours.

Edited August 2008: I have been successfully making yogurt in my regular oven, by mixing 1 1/2 quart milk and a 1/2 cup Activia yogurt as the original starter culture, then filling small Rubbermaid snack cups and putting on the lids. I use only the oven light and leave the cups overnight (6-8 hours). Excellent yogurt, easy to make, and without any more appliances cluttering up my kitchen. I keep my starter going by using the last cup of my homemade yogurt mixed into milk for the next batch.

I cannot say enough good things about this item, even though I purchased it somewhat tentatively and my husband thought it would be the next big white elephant. I decided on this product as it seemed to offer a few extras for slightly more cost (thermometer, timer, etc.). I have been making yogurt every week since however and it could not be easier, fresher or better tasting. I have followed the directions included with the maker and have not had any problems (organic skim milk, organic milk powder and yogurt as starter. Heat milk in microwave 8 minutes, "cook" in maker for 10 1/2 hours). The yogurt is firm, I think comparable to American store versions. My four year old eats it on his cereal instead of milk and asks for it for snacks, eating right out of the container. I also purchased the additional set of yogurt cups so I could make a new batch while still eating the rest.

I would like to add I am not an organic go-getter. We've recently been making some changes based on a general concern for how often we are exposed to chemicals, etc. in our and our children's lives. The yogurt maker has given us one more way to feel secure in and expand our choices. Enjoy!

Great concept, however the biggest flaw is the thermostat. The unit itself comes packaged well and is very easy to install. They even include a drill bit for the correct size holes needed for the wall anchors. I have this installed exactly as instructed in our baby's room. We wanted to keep the temperature in the room at exactly 74 degrees. The heater's thermostat is not accurate to even 2 degrees. Best bet is to get the non-digital thermostat version and buy the Lux wall plug thermostat.

Very easy to install and does a very good job to turrn a normally cold room into one that is very comfortable. The only downside is the thermometer. It seems to do the job of getting hotter as the number goes up, but the actual use of it to serve as a thermostat for the room is not so great. I might consider an external thermostat for my next version instead of it being built in. Overall, a good heating solution for a small to medium sized room.

This is a very elegant heater for small spaces. It's a nice matt white finish out of the box, and the textured ceramic finish is paintable. I bought this to replace the TERRIBLE Envi 220V heater a customer had me install (malfunctioned, right out of the box; customer service wouldn't accept the return without the box, nor pay return shipping in any case). The finish appearance, installation process, and the fact that the thing worked, were all refreshing improvements over the Envi heater. I was able to convert my 220V hard-wired connection to a shallow-wiremold surface mount 120V duplex receptacle on a 15A GFCI circuit breaker. At only 400W, there's no need for 220V for this type of heater, anyway. Now, the customer gets an extra GFCI receptacle socket so they could shave and use a hair dryer at the same time, if they wanted!

The installation in wall-board or flat masonry walls was very straightforward using the supplied integrated-standoff-and-wall-anchor device.

Single-use anchor/standoffs could be a problem for some users / applications

Should you be mounting to a wood wall (maybe you shouldn't, due to heat or potential malfunction and fire?) or some other material that does not support an expanding plastic anchor fastening method, you may be out of luck. Also, measure three times before drilling for the anchors (masonry bit supplied) or installing them, since the unit ships with only the 4 you will need, and you won't find anything that will work as a substitute at the hardware store. Don't lose, use in the wrong location, or break these anchor/standoffs!

Thermostat defaults to 72 whenever power is cycled off and back on.

The integrated logic-controlled thermostat seems to work well, although it does not remember the user setting after cycling the power off; it defaults to 72 degrees Fahrenheit as the set temperature when turned back on. Setting memory would be nice in case you want to operate it through a wall-receptacle timer device. 72 is not too bad a default setting, but users may wish they had more options to set their own target for when the timer turns the unit on again after down time.

Not for use in bathrooms?

The instructions state that the unit is "not intended for use in bathrooms or other areas where users could be in contact with water while operating the unit". I presume the manufacturers don't trust your existing receptacle to be GFCI-protected (many older bathroom, laundry, kitchen and basement receptacles are standard type where they should be GFCI-protected due to the likelihood people may be solidly grounded to water pipes or wet masonry floors while contacting the receptacle device, it's cover, or a cord-connected appliance that has a dangerous ground-fault. I consider that when connected to a GFCI in a plumbed location like a bathroom, the T400 U unit should be safe to operate.

We use this machine in the lobby of our business and use it almost everyday. It is easy to use and easy to clean. We take this machine to trade shows and to schools for fundraisers. The tri-pack popcorn makes it very easy as well. This machine is a little larger and stronger than any other that I have seen. Great Product!

After seeing warnings against another variable temperature kettle (branded by a major tea vendor) that's totally hit-or-miss by 20 degrees, I was cautiously hopeful that Capresso's H2O Pro would avoid that problem.

When this kettle arrived, I decided to play the skeptic and put to test it. Would it really hit 140F on the dot? Just a little above/below? A lot?

After a short brew time, *two* other thermometers (one analog, one digital) agreed with the kettle: 140.0F on the dot!

This is one excellently designed variable-temperature kettle! This kettle has now brought about more casual tea drinking. No more do I have to watch a stove or electric kettle like a hawk and stop it at the right temperature!

Temperatures are programmable in 10F increments from 110F (warm on the wrist) to 212F (boiling). I like to make tea with 140F (a bit over scalding) as I use plenty of Japanese green tea that is temperature-sensitive. And I love how it can also be programmed to keep the same temperature continuously (or not, as you please).

I only have 2 snags with this kettle:

At the temperatures I like, increments in 5, 2 or 1 degree make better sense than 10 degree increments.

When taking the kettle off its base, it resets its temperature defaults to 212 (boiling). I'd prefer that it automatically kept my preferences while I'm pouring the occasional cup throughout the day. But that's just me. Turning it to the preferred temp again is just a few thumb-wiggles away (which makes the 10-degree increments a balance of convenience).

Since no other variable-temp kettle I can find on the market is better than this one, these are just would-likes and don't detract from what I feel is a kettle at the head of its market.

5 Stars.

We bought this kettle to replace an earlier Capresso kettle that had provided years of good service. Don't make the same mistake. Yes it looks good and it boils water but the thermostat is not calibrated correctly and it is not sensitive enough. It sometimes takes up to 40 seconds to switch off after it has boiled even though it is set for the minimum time. This means you either have steamed up walls or you have to watch while it boils and switch off manually. Not impressed

Now three weeks later the whole lid assembley has fallen apart. This kettle is very cheaply made. I am surprised that Jura, one of Switzerlands top companies in this field, is prepared to put their name on such an inferior product.

To bring the tale of woe up to date it is now july 31st and we are looking at our second broken kettle. Capresso replaced the first one with no hassle. The replacement worked fine for ten days until the lid mechanism broke again. This definitely is a "piece of junk"

Best Deals on Capresso Water Kettle H2O Pro, Stainless Steel/Polished Chrome

I use this everyday but there are 2 things I wish it had the temperatures only increase/decrease by 10 degrees, I would prefer 5 but this is ok. I really wish a timer or alert would go off when the correct temperature is reached. But I do use it everyday and it heats up water fast.

Honest reviews on Capresso Water Kettle H2O Pro, Stainless Steel/Polished Chrome

My husband and I purchased this item a few months ago. We have been happy with it until last week, when the plastic catch that holds the lid broke off. The lid has a spring action, so without this catch we can no longer close it.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Capresso Water Kettle H2O Pro, Stainless Steel/Polished Chrome

This water kettle has been great. We've owned it for about 15 months. It's very reliable and durable. We like how it shuts itself off once the water is up to the temperature that you set. And it shuts itself off when the water runs dry or when you pick it up off its base. No more boiling water dry and burning your house down. ;-)

But the reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that the lid always seems to stick and you have to press in and back a little to open it. Then about a week ago a piece of plastic on the lid broke and now it no longer stays shut at all.

I bought this heater based on the features and a good CR review as there were a limited # of reviews on Amazon. One thing I liked about this heater is it puts out heat at approx. 24" off of the floor. I use it in my home office and my two previous Holmes ceramic heaters were very low and would direct the heat into my computer air intake which wasn't very good for me or my computer. Although I really didn't think I needed a remote to change the heat settings, I find it very useful to control the oscillation or temp setting. You can change all settings manually on the front panel if you loose your remote. It seems to throw out much more heat than any of my previous 1500W heaters and easily heats my 16 x 16 ft room in short order. The LED display is well lit and the construction is fairly impressive and sturdy. The fan seems to have much more CFM than your average space heater, but without any real dicernable noise especially when on the phone etc. About the only thing I can complain about is that in the Automatic temperature control mode the unit will only run in the high 1500W mode. If you use the Auto thermostatically controlled feature and it's relatively close to you, it will get a little too warm which is easily resolved by turning the temperature down or putting it in the manual mode on low. I think for this heater to keep you warm, it doesn't really need to be within 5ft as you can place it anywhere in most rooms in the auto mode to keep the whole room temperature constant. For the cost, I don't see how anyone could complain about this heater, but I'm sure someone will! I just ordered a second one for my family room which is much larger, but I feel it will handle it with ease. I would have ordered two as I am giving one to my Mother for Christmas, but they restocked and sold out all but one in 24 hours! I'm sure that a lot more people will say good things about this heater. BTW I checked the kW per hour usage with a meter, on the high setting and it uses around 1.36 kWh or around 15 cents/hr at average electric rates, but it is very unlikely that you would need to run this heater constantly on high unless you were heating a very large room. I would assume that it would be about half that on the low setting (750W).

Great product! Immediately turns out a lot of heat but the heater itself stays cool to the touch. Love the setting to have the heater automatically monitor the room temp and switch on and off in order to maintain the desired temperature. The only thing I do not like about the heater is that after being turned off, when you turn it back on it goes straight to the heater setting instead of "remembering" that we had been using the automatic temperature monitoring setting.

Best Deals on Lasko 6462 Full-Circle Warmth Ceramic Ceramic Electric Space Heater

I put this heater in use at the beginning of December, 2012 and kept track of the power usage with a Kill-A-Watt meter for that month. I ran it for about 8 hours every night set at 65 degrees to keep the master bedroom warm while the whole-house thermostat was set at 60 degrees. For the month of December the heater used 112.39 kwh which at my electrical rate in Michigan cost $7.83 or 25.2 cents per day. I consider this to be very good. The house is well insulated with outside storm windows on the bedroom. The bedroom is 14x17 ft with an 8 ft ceiling that slopes up to 14 ft.

The only downside that kept it from getting five stars is that it is a bit noisy.

Honest reviews on Lasko 6462 Full-Circle Warmth Ceramic Ceramic Electric Space Heater

Optimus H-4436 14-Inch Oscillating Dish Heater with Remote Control
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

I was looking to heat a small TV viewing area which encompassed the entire sectional couch. The products I compared the H4436 with were the Optimus H4438, the Soleus MS-09 and the Presto. I was looking for a parabolic heater. If you are looking for a different heating solution than what parabolic heaters provide, then don't expect this to heat up an entire room. Anyways, the Presto was eliminated because it was on a fixed upwards tilt, and needed to be placed on the floor to heat the area I was looking for. Since it didn't have any tilt options, and did not oscillate, it was out. It had three different heat settings on its thermostat, up to 1000W. The Soleus looked viable, and though I did not get to see one in person, there was a consistent theme in the reviews that it was just way too bright and like looking directly into the sun.

That led me to the Optimus H4436. The difference between the 2 Optimus models is that the H4436 has two heat settings, at 400W and 800W. The H4438 also has 2 heat settings, but is more powerful at 800W and 1200W. I ordered the H4436 before finding out about the H4438, and immediately thought I would be doing an exchange because I thought 400W would be useless. Well, once I got to try it out in the home setting I am keeping this one and canceled my order for the H4438. I have it up on a table at the foot of the couch, and it oscillates to cover the entire sectional. The low heat setting turned out to be plenty to keep a nice comfortable warmth with the central heat off. It's only in the upper 30's/low 40's outside right now, and other areas of the house are around 68. This heater at low brings the sectional area up to about 72-73. I have always kept my central heat set to around 72 or even higher, so my plan this year is to knock it down to 68 and keep the Optimus on in the TV viewing area, since that's where I'm usually at:) We'll see how that works out in the energy bills in the upcoming months, but at least I'm comfortable.

If I want to warm up quickly, I would put it on 800W for a little bit, but it eventually gets too hot. One of my considerations was energy efficiency, so I'm pleased to be able to keep it at 400W, and crank up to 800W for short intervals when needed. In my situation, I think running 1200W would be way too hot, and running 800W consistently would not only be inefficient, but also too warm. Ideally, Optimus would offer one heater with 3 settings Hi, Med, and Low, say at 1200W, 800W, and 400W, but they don't and so you have to choose the combination that works best for you. It is not bright at all, it has a decent range of tilt (but does not really tilt down), and the oscillation is nice for spreading the heat around. Oh, and if you don't feel like getting up to make any adjustments, the remote is nice! I have not noticed any issues so far with the buttons at the base of the dish and it's operating smoothly. It is also very quiet. I gave it 4 stars, just because I still think one model with all three heat settings would be ideal.

(+) it is a decent product. Remote is very handy even comes with a little holder. Most of the surfaces except of course the grill in the front are cool to couch. Safety shut switch is good in case it gets tipped over. Two power level and auto shut off timer also come in handy. Oscillation feature is also very useful and it is quiet. I can feel the heat from about 10 feet from the unit.

(+) this has lasted over 4 winters now and it looks like it will last least another 4 more.

(-) Initial quality is questionable. Within a few days buying the unit the buttons stopped working. I was about to return it. I took a chance and I opened the unit and figured out the problem and fixed it buy tightening some screws and repositioning the circuit board. I am not sure how many would be inclined to do all that.

(-) If you have a situation where it has to look down good luck, it does not tilt downwards even a bit but it tilts up easily. In which case it has to be either mounted on the wall or sit on a surface slightly above your target area.

(-) if you don't use the oscillation it can make you feel like you are about to catch fire after a couple of hours. So I either use it with the timer or with oscillation.

I bought this at Sam's Club last year ($42.25 with tax) used all winter in our small house to save on the gas billit worked Great.....I only had to use a smaller heater in the laundry room (where water lines and animals are) as a supplement...the furnace NEVER came on...right now it is 22 outside and 65 (furthest away around corners to other rooms)-68 inside....have it on low (after 3-4 hours of high in TV time)...we have to run a furnace in the garage so this heater has saved us Alothighest bill last winter was $205!!

This year I went a step further and bought an electric fireplace at Lowe's for $200...Fell for all the hype on these darn things-WRONG CHOICE.....it pulls so much electricity the TV went out every time the fan came on...I couldn't even switch back to this Optimus heater with the TV on till tonight when everything COOLED down.

Remote works perfectcats love it (they didn't like the fireplace)couldn't do better than this heater!! and the price is Great at SAM'S!

I have yet to see a better unit for personal warmth. These are the most effective non-contact heaters and the lowest cost to operate.

I have three of these units. Two are used in a place where the inside temp rarely gets above 55F and outside it gets routinely below 0F. One is used in San Francisco, CA where I'm on the north side and it's always cold.

All of them are very effective. The radiant heat goes on YOU and not the room. Your room will not get significantly warmer but YOU will feel the heat. It is like sitting outside in the sun. As a result, the cold, which is still there, is not uncomfortable. 400W is plenty for a single person sitting close by. 800W is good enough for a couch full of people. Of course the people may be more effective than the heater, depending on configuration.

The closer you sit the more heat you get. Heat received by your body decreases with distance. Past about six or eight feet, it's not that much heat anymore.

400W translates into 4kwh for a 10 hour sit, or about 60 cents at the rates I pay. These are net out more effective at heating YOU than the forced air units which heat the air that then heats you. The only way you'll get more effective is to use an electric blanket or heating pad.

The remote control is the best thing since sliced bread for a heater. Place the heater where you're going to use it. Use the remote to turn it on from where it's convenient. For example, place the heater four feet from your bedside. Turn it on when you go to bed or get up. You'll be warm while dressing. Full power "git's 'er done." At bedtime use the TIMER. You'll fall asleep warm knowing the thing will shut off automatically. Crank it up to full power and use the oscillator to "share the wealth" with more than 1 or 2 folks. All heaters for personal use should have remotes. Why not?

This thing is quiet. It makes about as much noise as a toaster. It has NO fan. It does NOT blow air. It is lower power than most forced air units but more effective at PERSONAL heating. It does not heat air or space, the final frontier. Don't expect it to blow your socks or shoes dry, because it neither blows nor sucks. It is not a hair dryer. It will not give you dry mouth, dry throat, or cause you to wake up in the middle of the night gasping "OMG I left THAT stupid thing on" as you try to rehydrate yourself from prune-dom. It's like the SUN but you can't get a tan. Don't even think of trying that. You'll cook like bacon before tanning.

Other heaters have their place (I have a 10KW forced air unit for example) but this thing is the tops for heating bodies.

This heat dish has nice features (such as the timer and the remote control). I use it primarily at night and I usually need to set the timer since it gets a bit too hot. It will shut off if it is lifted up or knocked over which are both great safety features. It is also extremely quiet.

This product does seem a little cheap but I don't think it would ever break or malfunction. The face plate is small enough that it won't hide scratches from previous switchplates. I bought one over six months ago for a bath-fan and I liked it so much I bought two more for my other bathrooms. It saves us a lot of power.

This item works well. However do not try to compare it to Electrical blankets you are used to using at home. It takes a while to heat up the mattress, and I have found it takes far too long for my mattress to cool back down after I turn it down, or off. The coldest I have used it so far is in 45 degree conditions, and I left it on a setting of one and used 1 fairly thick blanket over a very thin blanket, over the sheet. Mostly I use it to preheat the bed then turn it off, or to it's lowest setting.

I have it under a comforter under my bedsheet and cannot feel it, or the wires, or the safety pins you must use to pin it to the mattress. But there is no doubt it is on when you crawl into a toasty bed. Turn it on at least 30 minutes beforehand.

The claimed 4 amp draw and the 5 amp fuse must be applicable only to the single model. I have the twin and it draws 6.2 amps. It cycles on and off frequently but silently, and the temperature dial is also the thermostat, so keeping it outside the covers will allow it to run more often( warm the mattress more) than if is is under the covers.

The dial is numbered 1 through 7. It actually turns on at well below one on the dial. The Ciggy plug is one of the best designs out there. It fits snugly and does not warm up significantly. My Laptop can draw similar amperage through a ciggy plug, and it has partially melted the supplied ciggy plug.

In my experience it will use a minimum of 1.5 amp hours per hour on the lowest setting. Keep in mind that alternator does okay at replenishing a battery that is below 80%, but will take forever to bring it from 80% to 100%. Using this product night after night without adequate driving or other charging source in between will abuse your battery, and eventually leave you needing a jumpstart, and after a few jumpstarts, a new battery. Do not believe that your 140 amp HD alternator can replenish a battery in under an hour. Batteries cannot accept those currents for very long(under a minute), if at all, and the OEM wiring cannot transmit it even if the alternator could produce it in the engine compartment, rather than a Laboratory

Also a Marine/ dual purpose battery should be used as opposed to a starting battery. Starting batteries cannot handle deeper discharges and will self destruct prematurely. True Deep Cycle batteries are best for powering this heating pad, but 12 volt true deep cycle batteries are not that easy to find, and about 30% more expensive than regular starting or Marine batteries.

My son drives semi truck over the road. We bought him this item last Christmas. He is still thanking us for this item. He says that it has been the best gift we ever bought him. Highly recommend for anyone that spends time in cold weather!! 12volt and wasn't hard on the battery.

We spend 6 months of the year on our boat. Getting into bed at night we noticed that the bedding was more humid than we liked, not damp, just more moisture than we like. We also had occasional mildew on the walls. Somewhat skeptically, I ordered the heated mattress pad to try it out and since it did plug into 12v.

Wow! What a difference getting into bed at night. The bunk is nice and comfy and all traces of moisture in the bedding is gone and as a plus, we have not seen the reappearance of mildew on the walls. So far we haven't seen the need to leave it on all night but we could with the modest current draw. This is one great product to have on a boat! It's my wife's favorite addition over the last 12 months.

Honest reviews on Twin, Heated Mattress Pad by Electrowarmth, Non-Fitted, Size 36 x

The mattress pad was bought as gift for someone sick and when finally opened to use, it wasn't new but old and stained and ugly. Because a gift, the 30d return passed, and when vendor was notified, they asked for it to be returned, which I did promptly. After receiving the return she said it had been too long and a refund or exchange could not be honored. So I bought a gift that was embarrassingly used and stained when opened, then paid for the return to vendor and lost not only the original purchase cost but the return shipping too. So, was it sent out used to someone else? Bad experience all around. Worst response ever had with internet order.

just turn it on and cover it up for 30 min before use. Reduce to minimum when the engine is off. It will eat up your battery in 3 hours anyway. I use it in my semi truck (it has 4 big sections of batteries).

I BOUGHT THIS PIECE ALONG WITH THE SINGLE WARMER AND I AM VERY SATISFIED. I USED THEM FOR A POTLUCK FOR WORK. NOT ONLY DID THEY KEEP THE FOOD WARM, BUT WITH A TABLE CLOTH, IT MADE FOR AN ELEGENT DISPLAY. BETTER THAN THE ALUMINUM FOIL PANS. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PIECE AND IF YOU CAN FIND IT AT THE DISCOUNTS STORES, ALL THE BETTER. I GOT ALL 3 PIECES (ONE DOUBLE AND 2 SINGLES) FOR UNDER 30 DOLLARS. IF YOU CANT FIND THEM AT A DISCOUNT STORE, AMAZON IS THE PLACE TO GET THE BEST BARGAIN!

They are smaller than I was picturing them, but they worked very well for the price. I bought two of these and they kept hors d'eauvres warm for a party I had for over 2 hours. Not hot, but warm. These would work extrememly well for dinner parties to keep items warm on the table. They are kind of a bowl shape, so make sure that what you want to hold in them will fit the space. At the base they are only a few inches in diameter.

I ordered the double warmer chafing dish and two of the singles. When they arrived (in perfect condition), I was concerned that they may not be large enough. But they were the perfect size for a dinner party for twelve. The food can be 'mounded' into the serving dish because the lids are domed. The food remained at a nice serving/eating temperature. And they looked so pretty on the buffet. They clean up easily too. I love them! I am very pleased with them in every way.

I was so excited to use this for my friends shower. The little candle underneath was lit for a little over and hour and the ceramic dish broke in half! I'm guessing it was too much heat? So now I am left with a two dish holder and only one dish...

This is absolutely gorgeous, great quality. It arrived quickly and in great condition. The reason I'm giving it a 4 star rating instead of 5 is because it is much smaller that it looked in the picture the photo is a bit misleading. Because of the image, I thought the measures were for each bowl, not the whole piece. The bowls are kind of square and they are deep, good for something like mashed potato or pulled meat. This is stylish and perfect for a very small, intimate party. I'm going to order other (bigger) pieces for my party but I won't return this the beautiful bowls can be used separately for many purposes, including serving dinner dishes for 4.

Been eyeing this stove for months, but have been afeared about the quality, given that the price is so low. But after looking at countless models that costed $25-$50 more, I decided on this one just because I like the design so much.

And it's adorable/beautiful! Just received it today. Took me five minutes to screw the legs on and I'm a "girly girl" LOL :)

It's plastic, but good quality. Small, but sturdy. The flame effect is just beautiful and the heats works well. In fact, so strong on low that, at least, I, could not stand directly in front of it without discomfort, it was so warm.

I can't speak regarding longevity or how much it will raise the electric bill. I didn't buy it for the heat as mine is included in the rent, but for the look of it. However, in the cold, New England winters here, I expect to use the heat at 15 minute intervals or so just to chase off the chill. I did not and probably would not purchase this as a sole heating source, and even the company will tell you that it is to be used as "supplemental" heat.

So, will be back in a few weeks to update regarding how it is working two-three months from now and how much it raises the electric bill as those were my biggest questions.

Hope this helps!
