After seeing warnings against another variable temperature kettle (branded by a major tea vendor) that's totally hit-or-miss by 20 degrees, I was cautiously hopeful that Capresso's H2O Pro would avoid that problem.

When this kettle arrived, I decided to play the skeptic and put to test it. Would it really hit 140F on the dot? Just a little above/below? A lot?

After a short brew time, *two* other thermometers (one analog, one digital) agreed with the kettle: 140.0F on the dot!

This is one excellently designed variable-temperature kettle! This kettle has now brought about more casual tea drinking. No more do I have to watch a stove or electric kettle like a hawk and stop it at the right temperature!

Temperatures are programmable in 10F increments from 110F (warm on the wrist) to 212F (boiling). I like to make tea with 140F (a bit over scalding) as I use plenty of Japanese green tea that is temperature-sensitive. And I love how it can also be programmed to keep the same temperature continuously (or not, as you please).

I only have 2 snags with this kettle:

At the temperatures I like, increments in 5, 2 or 1 degree make better sense than 10 degree increments.

When taking the kettle off its base, it resets its temperature defaults to 212 (boiling). I'd prefer that it automatically kept my preferences while I'm pouring the occasional cup throughout the day. But that's just me. Turning it to the preferred temp again is just a few thumb-wiggles away (which makes the 10-degree increments a balance of convenience).

Since no other variable-temp kettle I can find on the market is better than this one, these are just would-likes and don't detract from what I feel is a kettle at the head of its market.

5 Stars.

We bought this kettle to replace an earlier Capresso kettle that had provided years of good service. Don't make the same mistake. Yes it looks good and it boils water but the thermostat is not calibrated correctly and it is not sensitive enough. It sometimes takes up to 40 seconds to switch off after it has boiled even though it is set for the minimum time. This means you either have steamed up walls or you have to watch while it boils and switch off manually. Not impressed

Now three weeks later the whole lid assembley has fallen apart. This kettle is very cheaply made. I am surprised that Jura, one of Switzerlands top companies in this field, is prepared to put their name on such an inferior product.

To bring the tale of woe up to date it is now july 31st and we are looking at our second broken kettle. Capresso replaced the first one with no hassle. The replacement worked fine for ten days until the lid mechanism broke again. This definitely is a "piece of junk"

I use this everyday but there are 2 things I wish it had the temperatures only increase/decrease by 10 degrees, I would prefer 5 but this is ok. I really wish a timer or alert would go off when the correct temperature is reached. But I do use it everyday and it heats up water fast.

My husband and I purchased this item a few months ago. We have been happy with it until last week, when the plastic catch that holds the lid broke off. The lid has a spring action, so without this catch we can no longer close it.

This water kettle has been great. We've owned it for about 15 months. It's very reliable and durable. We like how it shuts itself off once the water is up to the temperature that you set. And it shuts itself off when the water runs dry or when you pick it up off its base. No more boiling water dry and burning your house down. ;-)

But the reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that the lid always seems to stick and you have to press in and back a little to open it. Then about a week ago a piece of plastic on the lid broke and now it no longer stays shut at all.

My first review: This is priced at $200 at Walmart. Why so much here? You want a hundred dollar tip? The ship there is a whopping 97 cents.

Update:

I bought this from Wal-Mart and am happy I did. It is small, so look at the dimensions carefully. But, I do enjoy sitting on the couch and having the flames twinkling out of the corner of my eye, or even staring at the thing is nice to do. It is fairly well made, and it does put out some heat. Not enough heat to take the place of a house heater, but on a really cold day it is nice to have it on. I have turned on the fireplace many times without the heat since I live in the south, and enjoy being able to do that. It really "warms up" the feel of the room. Another good thing is I have cats and am terrified of space heaters that they might get their little furry tails into, and this one seems safe to me from that perspective.

When we opened the box, found that the legs were broken. I called Dimplex, the manufacturer (per shipping instructions) and they indicated that they would send replacement parts. We should have within 5-7 working days. Have not received yet so I called. Now they are saying they do not stock the parts and therefore I have to send back to the retailer to get a new unit. They were going to call me to let me know, but have not had the time. They are too busy with other phone calls. Makes me wonder about the product....

This is a very nice stove. The stove is very heavy, with solid construction. The pewter finish is a beautiful dark grey and the accents are very nice. The stove warms a room quickly and the flame is fairly realistic in a darkened room. Dimplex units have patented flame technology that uses a reflection of the logs to make it look like the fire is between two logs. There are glowing embers at the base. The logs themselves do not glow as they do in more expensive dimplex units. On the back of the unit, there is an adjustable thermostat knob, a heat on/off switch, and a fireplace on/off/remote toggle switch. This is quite a solid piece, much more so than the units I have seen in home stores and the flame effect is much more pleasing to the eye.

This is actually a large unit as electric stoves go which is one of the reasons I chose this model. There are multiple dimplex models that look similar and can be found on the dimplex website. I think the amazon price of $220 is very good as the MSRP is $499 and it is listed for $440 on the Lowes website. I could not find this model stove for sale on Walmart's website (as reported by another reviewer) at the time of this review.

This is our third electric fireplace/stove and our second Dimplex. If you are in the market for an electric fireplace because you want to add a cozy fireplace to a room without the expense of installing a real fireplace, I highly recommend dimplex. While you can usually find flame effect videos online, it is worth looking at the flames in the store to see the difference between the dimplex effect and others. If you are buying this for heat and simply the design of the unit then there are many options available, but the flame effect on a dimplex unit is much more realistic in my opinion.

I really like this portable heater. I left it on at night and it kept me warm.

I have dropped the heater a couple of times and it still worked pretty good. It blows the heat out quickly when you turn it on.

I recommend this heater.

I needed a gas heater for a Diwali lawn party. The big ones from Costco were too expensive. So I took a chance and bought this contraption that attaches to a propane tank. Installing it was easy. Starting it was also simple, just follow the instructions to the letter: instead of a match, use a lighter for a steady flame. Once it started up, it ran for 3 hours at the 'low' setting and the tank was still half-full at the end. The heat was more than adequate in a five-foot radius around the tank. I would definitely recommend this!

Perfect for small garage like my, (large 1 car) works great, economic to run and very quiet, service was very good with quick delivery.

Basically the same heater I had before from Colman with a tilt feature, lasted a good 15 years.

i bought this heater about 6 years ago from a hardwere store, i have yoused it for ice fishing, it gets the shanty so hot we have to leave the door open some,,it also came as a life saver during power cuts in the winter,it heats good on just the lower setting,,it is exalant value for the money.

It's not the same construction as that of a similar heater made just 25 years ago ... they don't make stuff like they used to.

That said, it's a solid heater. Attachment to the tank is a little clumsy, but once seated, it works as advertised. I use it to heat a 15x15 outdoor shed and it does well in that role.

i have been using heaters like this for years now .

this is the 3rd one i have bought for my shops office , restroom and kitchen areas .

the rest of my shop i heat with a big propane heater but very little if any get's into the office area so i use this type of heater for that . when i get in every morning i turn it on the low setting and it then runs all day for about 10 hours i'm there 6 days a week . i burn about 50 LBS of propane every week so it's not to bad with that and it keeps the office about 70 to 75 degrees from the 55 to 60 degrees it is when i 1st get into the shop in the morning . it will warm the office up in about a hours time this is a cement block building that gets very cold when the out side temps are around 20 to 30 degrees .

on very cold days when it's in the single numbers i will turn up the dial to high and it will use more propane but it still keeps the office nice and warm .

The Jandy LXi 400 heater in my spa stopped working properly. The temperature on the heater panel would read 104 which is max but the temp on my PDA read only 97 and the water was not hot. I researched the problem and found the following thread: "http://www.justanswer.com/pool-and-spa/4necb-jandy-lxi-heater-controlled-jandy-rs-link.html". I ordered the sensor from "Bankruptcy Liquidator" through Amazon for $40 plus $4.99 shipping, about $20 cheaper than other sellers. I installed the sensor the same day and it works like a charm! Kicked it up to 101 and both PDA and heater read 101. I also threw the pool thermometer in and it also read 101.

My order was handled professionally. I was very pleased with the promptness and it worked great after installed. This was very important to my company, because the system was down and I needed the part. It arrived early and was installed. My system was up and running two days earlier than I promised my customers, so they were happy as well.

Thanks for all your efforts.

The Duraheat gives you heat when you need it now. I run it for about 15 mins. and turn it off. I like because it has a fuel gauge so you won't run it dry. I recommend the DuraHeat.

My BK3 Triple Blower Fan is installed now and working great but not without a few challenges.

The main gripe I have is that the listing says something like "fits all FMI models". Unfortunately this is not true. I have a 36" FMI fireplace from the early 90's. In the end I got it to "fit" but none of the mounts, screw holes, or anything else was as described in the diagrams. I had to come up with a completely custom rig to install the blower fan.

Other details you may want to know... (1) It's a little noisier than I had hoped for but we got used to it. On the other hand we are very happy with the amount of heat our fireplace now kicks off. (2) When I purchased this unit the image on amazon showed the wrong model. The image that is there as I write this review is corrected (a metal frame with 3 separate black plastic propellers). (3) I found it interesting to know that the fan unit draws about 70-90 watts.

I bought several of these to replace the 35-year-old wall heaters in my house. They were the same voltage and almost the same size, so switching them out was pretty easy. They've worked great for about a year now, with no problems.

This heater produces a pleasant stream of warm (not hot)air. That was exactly what I was looking for. I also wanted a heater with a sealed heating element rather than one with an exposed wire coil as it might create a slight fire danger. This particular model does NOT include a thermostat. I control it with a 24 volt relay and a Honeywell wall thermostat. It looks good in the master bath and is very quiet. Installation is quick an easy if you are comfortable doing line and low voltage wiring. Otherwise, you might want to call a licensed electrician.

AMAZON processed the order very quickly and it was shipped via FedEx Smartpost. It arrived TOO soon, actually before I had my wiring ready for it.

This heater is fantastic. I bought it to replace a small electric baseboard in my bathroom. This thing is whisper quiet and heats the bathroom almost instantly. Outstanding product! Installation is ridiculously simple.

Honest reviews on Dimplex TWH2031CW 2000/1500-Watt Fan Forced Wall Heater

I found that there is not much information about these wall heaters. I was most concerned about the noise level as I've heard some heaters previously that make whirring or buzzing noises. This is a quality built heater and is whisper quiet. You hear the fan, but it's as quiet or quieter than the central heating I've had in other homes/apts. Very happy with this purchase.

Rather large heater for a minimal amount of heat, and mine is wired to 240V. Also, brand new out of the box it spends the first 2 minutes loudly rattling every time it's turned on. Then it finally settles down and is pretty quiet....

I purchased this product as an upgrade from the 70,000 BTU unit and has worked great for what i use it for. Thermostat regulates the temperature well. One thing I did want to point out is the fuel tank, which holds 13 gallons. I purchased 5 gallons of K1 Kerosene from a local store which cost me $38.00 and only brought the tank up to just over a third full. Heater burned through the the 5 gallons between 4-5 hours of use so something to think about. I'll probably consider burning diesel as an alternative. Overall a great heater but note the fuel consumption and the large space you will need to use this.

I purchased this brand new, assembled it, and fired it up in twenty minutes. I've owned torpedo heaters without the thermostat but since this model has one, it can turn on and off to maintain the desired ambient temperature. On about the fifth start up, I heard the ignition kick on but also heard the sound of a dying motor. The fan motor had seized. I tried troubleshooting it through the manual but this kind of problem wasn't listed. So, I took this matter into my own hands. I opened the top shell and tried to spin the fan. It was very resistant but after a few turns it eventually spun free. I fired it back up and it worked for a little bit and then repeated the incident. I dug deeper: removing the air filter and air filter housing. After removing the housing, the fan would spin free again. Turns out the rotor which pumps the air is slightly too wide for the housing. If you seen the rotors, they're made of graphite (just like the graphite used in mechanical pencils but instead of a small stick it's a huge disc with four small wedges emplaced in groves). As the rotor spins the wedges slide in groves displacing the volume but at the same time are wearing down. As the rotor wears down, the graphite shavings can either get pumped into the filter or build up between the rotor and housing. The buildup caused the jamming of the fan motor. My solution was to sand the rotor faces with 800 grit so it would have enough room to allow shavings to make their way out somewhere else.

So far this fix has kept the heater going but I'm wary as to the longevity of this unit. I've already researched online and there are some heater supply stores which sell replacement rotors for around $35. Surely there is a more efficient design to pump air into the tank. All is needed is a constant 5-10 PSI while the heater runs. Essentially, if one were to design a small supercharger, that could compensate the graphite rotor and prolong the heater life without troubling the fuel supply.
