DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater Reviews

This is the inexpensive heater I've been looking for. (1) It's fairly compact (9-1/2 w x 7 d x 10 h) and because it's curved instead of boxy it seems smaller. (2) An unexpected bonus, finally a cord that's realistically long 6-1/2 feet so I won't need an extension cord. (3) The thermostat works reasonably well, in terms of sort of maintaining the temperature something I wondered about in a cheap heater. Though the right setting and how well it works will probably depend on where it is (floor, countertop). And the thermostat probably can't be expected to work well in an especially drafty location.

As others have noted It's quiet (though not silent). There are two heat settings, though as noted just one fan setting. The numbers on the dials are hard to read except up close.

We moved into a new office and the building is VERY chilly...I couldn't take it anymore so I got this little heater and overall I couldn't be happier. I am now warm and toasty all day long! The heater is a small size, so it can fit under your desk without problem even if you sit in a cube at work. It's also lightweight and has a lot of safety features so you don't have to worry about burning anything down. The thermostat feature is nice because it will keep your space maintained at a constant temperature.

One "minus" is that it doesn't really have an "OFF" switch the red light always stays on when it's plugged in. I agree with other reviews that the controls are also very hard to read, so you have to be up close & personal with it to get it to the setting you want. Also, the thermostat is not something you can really figure out "out of the box" you definitely have to read the directions to understand how to use it. But those "flaws" are so minor that you shouldn't let it influence your purchasing decision. It is TOTALLY worth every penny!

I bought this heater three years ago based on the good reviews and cheap price. I expected it to get me through that winter only. I have used this thing just about daily for the past three years, heat in fall/winter and fan in summer. It still works quite well and seems ready for the upcoming winter. The only problem I am beginning to notice now is that the on/off/heat control wheel is starting to become loose. Otherwise it does a great job for the intended task and has already lasted longer than anticipated. The thermostat on it is finicky and takes a little playing around with it to do basically what you want but the heat does cycle on/off more or less appropriately. I'd give 5 stars if the thermostat was perfect but it is what it is and that is good enough. I just bought two more, my old one will go to the garage for duty there until it eventually fails. A good, solid product for a very good price.

2012 Update The original heater is still functional and kept me warm and cozy in my garage over this winter. :)

Honest reviews on DeLonghi DFH132 SafeHeat Fan Heater

I live in a small room and when i turn up the heater, it gets pretty warm quickly. Very safe and i like the fact that it works on the floor or on the table. Not very noisy and the thermostat is working just fine for temperature control.

I use this heater in my cold basement under my computer desk, and I'm pretty happy with it. I was worried about the noise because I use a lot of speech-recognition software and a noisy fan doesn't help accuracy. It's not as quiet as I had hoped, but it's not bad, and my SR software doesn't seem to be affected. Negatives: Only one fan speed; it could use at least two. Also, the numbers on the thermostat and heat control dials are hard to read not a big deal, since it's also very simple. The 750 watt setting doesn't put out a lot of heat, so I mostly use the 1500 watts. On the plus side, it seems to be very safe, the thermostat cycles just fine so it holds the desired temperature pretty well, it's nice looking, and hey, it's cheap! You can't really go wrong for 15 bucks.

Customer Ratings: 3 stars

The legs were bought to mount on a Kozy World KWN191 18,000-BTU Vent-Free Natural-Gas Infrared Wall Heater. Legs are pieces of plastic much the same as the ones included with a standard box fan. Two pieces of plastic that should come included in the box by Cozy World. The cost of $18 is ridiculous for no more than what they are. The Kozy World heater is not that impressive to begin with but for the price they cost, they need to include not only these legs but the fan and any other accessories required to make them work 100%. After I purchased the legs and the fan, (which you can't buy locally at the same store ---Lowe's), with shipping cost AND the kit required to hook it up to gas, I had to shell out another $80! BIC Superstore shipped fast but the cost was high to ship to TN.

These tools are very attractive and well made. The base is very stable and won't tip over easily. They have the rustic look I wanted. My only complaint is that the measurements given are for the stand the tools attach to and not the tools themselves. The product info. should indicate the tool lengths separately at 19 inches rather than the 22 inches listed as the product length.

This is a quality, well-made set. All pieces are welded; no nuts and bolts. Although smaller than average (which I knew when I purchased) it is the perfect size for my fireplace. It adds character to my fireplace without becoming the focal point. I am very pleased!

In a word incredible. This item took about ninety minutes to assemble, from opening the box to removing the trash when finished. I should state that I have assembled many household items over the last twenty years. That greatly aided my ninety minutes completion time.

This is a beautiful piece of oak furniture. We purchased it to support a seventy inches, one hundred plus pounds television. The television extends about one inch beyond either side of the cabinet. It has excellent support for the weight of the television, showing no signs of bowing in the center of the top shelf.

The fire that is produced by the leds' is phenomenal. Simply stated, it appears real. There are five levels of brightness. Directions state the electric blower can warm a four hundred square foot {20x20} room. I doubted that. I no longer doubt it though. Of course it will not warm the area as quickly as your heater or heat pump, but it will get there and you will have to eventually reduce the heat setting.

Any body who gets this item will enjoy it. Shipping is fast also, not a long wait.

Despite the clear advisory, I missed the fact that the flame/heater insert was not included... My fault.

The piece is beautiful and fairly easy to assemble. Some holes did not line up quite right, so I had to do some drilling. Looks great with the fireplace insert and gives off a good amount of heat.

The instructions were easy to follow, went together in under 45 minutes. The fireplace is very very nice. As close to real as you can get without a real flame.

Honest reviews on Classic Flame Brookfield 26MM2209-O107 MANTEL ONLY.

I purchased this fireplace to hold my 70 inch TV. It looks wonderful and the wood is darker than I thought but matches my coffee table perfectly. The flames look good with varying colors to look like real fire. Not sure about heat as it is summer and too soon to tell. Definitely hard to put together took a lot of hours and plan on having a drll with small drill bits to drill holes that are supposed to be there. The delivery was quick, the company called within a a day or two to set up delivery.

This is a nice piece of furniture, we had noticed some minor scratches in the bottom after we put the mantel together.

This piece also does not come with the fireplace, did not know that when ordering. I feel that this mantel was a little pricey, considering it does not come with the fireplace.

I bought this steam mop for my wife because she was dying to try one out, with a baby tearing up the kitchen and all. However, this specific mop didn't even come close to where it needed to be in order to get the job done.

The main problem here is that steam mop technology just isn't quite there yet. The steam alone isn't enough to get a lot of stains up, but since you can't use any type of chemicals in conjunction with this mop, it does very little to get the floor clean. Even worse, the process of steaming leaves a fine silt-like film all over the area after you're done. You pretty much have to break out the old mop and bucket just to clean up the mess that this "new and improved" mop made. I believe someone was good to try to apply steam cleaning to a handheld mop, but the process of just squirting the steam out of the bottom with nothing more than a cloth cover to clean the floor isn't really a good idea. Match that up with the $90 price tag, at least when I purchased it, and it makes this mop pretty pathetic as far as value is concerned.

Overall, please save your money. You'd be better to buy a large steam vacuum for a little more that will at least have rotating brushes or some other gizmo that actually breaks down stains and stuff on the floor, instead of just relying on steam alone. I think this is pretty common with all of the steam mops out there, so again...please save your money.

Kalorik Steam Cleaner

After about the 3rd use, my steam cleaner overheated after about 5 minutes of use. It was so hot it burned my finger to hold the button down. I didn't try to take it back because I no longer had the receipt plus I had it a few months before I even used it. I tried it again after about a month and it did the same thing. Money thrown away.

Honest reviews on Kalorik SFC 24713 Steam Mop with Removable Water Tank

This product only does a fair job of cleaning. I have tile that is less than one year old and the grout only looked a little cleaner after 3 uses.

It leaves a film of water on the surface that takes at least 15 minutes to dry and some spots have to be wiped up by hand.

Would I buy this again, no. Jean

This mop seems well built and the handle is much sturdier than others.

The pad stayed on well during use and washed well.

It heats up fair temp wise and while its not super hot steam wise, it did remove grime and made a decent amount of moisture. If you over steam it will leave the floors pretty wet. My main complaint with its use was design..the triangle head wants to lift off the floor in front as you pull the mop back..and the small head, while being perfect for bathrooms and baseboards etc... ends up being too small for larger floor surfaces, takes a long time to cover the entire area.

I gave the mop to my son who has smaller square footage to clean and will be trying another steam mop. The jury still seems to be out on this whole steam mop revolution. I think the over-all technology and construction still needs to be improved based on the many, many reviews I have read in here.

On that note..I greatly thank amazon for the review system here, it is a very helpful tool for consumers.

(EDIT) I payed $75 for this mop, from Amazon, now I see its been reduced considerably and is sold by another company, I assume they are being clearanced out.

I guess you get what you pay for...but I just wanted the ambience of a "flame" in my living room. The heat is a bonus. I was replacing a previous electric fireplace. The flame "effect" has already stopped working, and I've only had it for about a month or so. If I "bang" on the back of it, the flame tries to work, but makes a grinding noise and quits again. My advice is to spend more money and get something a bit better than this.

I purchased this item on Sunday afternoon and it arrived via UPS ground this morning (Wed). I noticed instantly that the unit does not resemble the online or box photo. The handle is very shiny brass and the front door is shiny plastic (like a child's cheap toy#. The rest of the unit is made of thin, shiny metal #again, like a child's toy#. The legs are platic. It took about ten minutes to remove from the box and screw in the legs. It turned on instantly and has been running since #for about two hours). It makes more noise than I had anticipated but it's not overpowering. I am rating this four stars because I have no previous experience with electric fireplaces and I am not sure how what I have described compares with other units. If you are looking for an affordable, small, ambient, supplemental heat source that looks nice from across the room then buy this unit. If you are looking for something substantial or authentic, you will be disappointed.

Best Deals on World Marketing CG Bristol Electric Stove

This small stove looks nice, but is very cheaply built. When you open the front door, the plastic bends almost to the point of breaking just to overcome the magnet that holds it shut. The fan is very noisy sometimes, other times it's quiet. The bearings act like they were going out from day one. The flames work.....sometimes. If they don't move, bang the sides and they usually take off. I should have sent this back, but it really wasn't worth the effort after assembling it.

Honest reviews on World Marketing CG Bristol Electric Stove

This stove has a great flame and has a more rustic style than other stoves we looked at. It is a excellent heater for a smaller room or apartment.

I just received my new stove today. I love this thing! It is a great size and the "flames" are more realistic than I thought they'd be. The glowing embers/logs also look very good. You could never mistake the burning effect for a real fire, but it looks much nicer than I ever thought it would and it provides great ambiance.

The heater also works very well. The best surprise of all is how quiet it is. You can hear the heater when it is on, but it is far from intrusive. It is completely quiet when the heater is not turned on.

When I first turned the unit on the flame effect was quite noisy. I tightened some screws that obviously loosened during shipping. Now it is as quiet as a church mouse.

You should be aware, however, that the stove doesn't look matte black like in the pictures. It is a gloss black, and the the handle is shiny brass. I like it better this way, though. It resembles one of those beautiful enamel wood stoves.

All in all, this was a great purchase. If you are on the fence I wouldn't hesitate, Amazon has a great return policy if you don't like it.

I love the steamer. It was delivered on time! It came with 12 micro fiber towels+ one stainless steel looking tong. The towels are nice but they are much shorter than I expected. The towel dimension ( after laundry & dry ) : 9inch x 19 inch. They are not long enought to cover client face or wrap client head. Still I use them during the facial. One for eye area, one for jaw area. ( make 2 triangle to cover entire face.). So don't expect too much on these towels. The stainless steel looking tong, I don't use them so it went to my kitchen. The steamer is not heavy at all so that I can carry to my client home. They love to have steam towel during the facial treatment or after the hair cut. The size is very compact so it is easy to put anywhere. It has little industrial oil smell ( it's not that strong.) and I think it is going away after each use. I'm very happy about my purchase anyway.

Overall 5 star on this product.

I bought this heater because I wanted three selectable heat settings so I could adjust the temperature of the air coming from the unit. Most heaters tend to produce a small amount of very hot air (especially ceramic heaters). The problem with this is that contributes to air stratification--the heat rises quickly to the top of the room and the floor remains cool. This unit has three heat settings from which to choose, and since it is a standard resistance heater and fan, it produces a (comparatively) large amount of warm air (as compared to a small amount of very hot air).

The package claims that the heat settings are 600, 900, and 1500 watts. (Most heaters are 1500 watts on their highest setting). However, I used a Kill A Watt meter, which registers the exact wattage, and recorded the results.

On fan-only: 10 watts

Low heat: 530 watts

Medium heat: 770 watts

High heat: 1270 watts

As you can tell, it is not quite 1500 watts, but this is totally fine with me--I just want it to gently warm the area around my desk at work, not bake a turkey. Also, an added advantage is that a standard 15 amp electrical outlet can carry a maximum wattage of 1875 watts. Since my computer and monitor must also be plugged into this outlet, and an average computer and monitor are 400 watts together, this will bring me to a total of 1670 watts--enough that I do not have to worry about tripping a circuit breaker.

The unit quiet and is thermostatically controlled; it turns on and off as it reaches the desired temperature. With that said, it does not have a digital thermostat that some of the nicer models have. You will need to guess and test to see if you prefer it set to "warmer" or "cooler" or somewhere in between. For the record, the coolest temperature mine will allow is 65ºF.

When I first opened the package I wondered how such a small heater could do very much to warm up my bedroom which is about 11x12 and on a northwest corner. It can become quite chilly in the winter months. I place the heater on the floor and set it on medium heat with the fan on high. Within about 30 minutes the chill is gone and the room is comfortable at which time I turn it off before getting under the covers. My cat plops himself down 1 to 2 feet from it and peacefully sleeps until I turn it off at which time he joins me on my bed. As I live in SoCal it rarely gets below 34 degrees at night so I can't say how good it would be for colder climes.

I tried to buy several units, but the manufacturer Hudson is a pain to work with! The person on the phone said he had experience installing these units, but when I asked about flow rates, resistance, etc (just basic questions), he admitted he didn't "really" have installation experience. You're pretty much on your own if you buy one, and if their pre-sales support is so bad, I bet they're an equal pain to return things to if/when they break. They also have no phone number in North American -just in the UK, so they are conveniently open at 3.30 am EST (half past midnight West Coast time), but you have to have an international calling plan to talk with them. Like I said -what a pain! I'll post a US or even any North American supplier when I can find one ....

UPDATE: 11/30/12 -I found a local alternative here in the USA! Myson, Inc prides themselves on great customer service, and they got me to a very technically smart guy within 1 minute of calling with no hold queues or annoying hold music. And they are 1/3 cheaper than Hudson!! I hope they advertise on Amazon, but meanwhile you can compare for yourself at

Note -I have no affiliation with any of these companies, and I get no payment or kickback or anything for my opinion. :-) I just like honest, quality products and customer service, and being given a line by a self-professed "expert" by Hudson with no US phone support (only UK, and no easy phone calls only reeaally slow chat line -I think they use a dial-up modem ?!?! -really irked me.

The Pros -This thing delivers the heat! I live in a 980 sq. ft. mobile home with an open living room and kitchen. Even during the coldest months this unit kept me warm during power failures. The heat even traveled to the farthest bedroom, not heating it to the fullest, but keeping away the chill. It runs silently.

The Cons -It does not run for the 12 hours, as stated on the outer carton. I suppose if you heated a very small bathroom it would regulate itself to the full 12 hours. I have to refill the tank every four hours. Since the unit is rather heavy and bulky it's difficult to carry it outside for refueling. It's even heavier on the return trip because of the full tank of kerosene. The carrying handle doesn't feel secure enough to haul that weight.

Unless you run the tank completely dry, this unit flares up and sends a cloud of black smoke into the room during shutdown. A kerosene-stink will linger for half an hour. It has to be taken apart and cleaned every few days to remove the carbon build-up on the wick. I have not yet been successful at removing all that carbon.

A kerosene heater is not for wimps or for those who won't follow safety instructions. It can be dangerous.

I wouldn't recommend this product for someone looking to run it all winter long to cut down on their heating bill.

I would, however, recommend it for someone wishing to have an optional heating source available during emergencies. If the only choices are to freeze or find another heating source, this will unit will do the job well.

I believe the Cons (as stated) are typical of all portable kerosene heaters, so I will not fault this unit in those areas. With the exception of the misleading "runs for up to 12 hours", this unit does what it's supposed to do. That's why I give it five stars.

I've had this heater for just less than four weeks now. In the interest of disclosure, I'm certainly not an expert, and this is my second kerosene heater I also have a dyna-glo 23k BTU that I've been using happily for about a year and a half.

I was very excited to get this smaller 10k heater since the worst of the winter is about over in my area, and the Dyna-Glo is too much when the outside temp reaches forty or so. The item came double boxed and intact great shipping and packing from Amazon as usual.

I put it together (it was easy and the instructions were simple) and then went to carry it downstairs and nearly dropped it from the top steps because the handle fell out this is definitely my fault, and luckily I hadn't filled it yet and had fast enough reflex to grab it before it tumbled down. Since then I've bent the handle inwards so that it fits a bit tighter and hopefully that won't happen again. However, the handle bends considerably when the unit is picked up, especially with a full tank, and needs to occasionally be bent back into place so that it can swing freely. I think it needs a heavier gauge handle to be moved around safely. It probably goes without saying for any kero heater, but definitely don't try carrying this while it's lit.

After lighting it the first time, I noticed no visible smoke, but it had a sooty odor not the normal mild kerosene odor I noticed with my other heater from time to time. I looked at the book which said an initial odor was normal until the first dry burn. So I lived with it, using it on and off for about a week until I felt it was ready to burn dry. After (double) burning it dry the real problems began. The burner assembly would no longer burn red to the top, the blue flames were obviously way too low while the adjustment was as high as it would go, the sooty odor got worse, and most times after lighting it, the flame would just flicker in a small (two-inches or so) part of the wick. Frustrated I'd put it out and try to relight it again and again. After a few days of this, I got a flame going, and tried to dry burn it again, then again. After dry burning it, the wick was soft on the top, and stiff everywhere else. I tried pinching it with pliers, flexing it around with my fingers, and dry burning it again. The result was no better. The more I tried the worse it got.

Today I put in a new wick, and everything is back to normal ... and NO SMELL at all and the heat output is considerably better than even the first time I fired it up. I'll edit this later if the problem returns (and bump it up one star if it doesn't), but I believe that the manufacturer put a poor quality wick, trying to save a few pennies, so the unit was not getting hot enough to burn clean and odorless. A wick should last about a year for most people, not less than a month (assuming it was ever good at all). But hopefully this solves the problem and saves someone else the same frustration that I had.

Normal burn time on a tank is probably around fourteen hours as others have mentioned. The wall guards do not add any stability and are an annoyance if you don't actually put it near a wall, so I took them off since I keep it in the middle of the room I'm trying to heat. The manufacturer needs to add a small wire door to the front grill to facilitate easier match lighting I had to buy the long eleven inch matches to reach down in there (break of the charred end and relight them with a lighter to make them last longer).

In summary, I've not been happy with the heater for the short time I've had it. If the whole problem actually was the wick and not some design problem, I'm sure I'll be content with this unit for many years.

Edit 03/29/09: After using this an additional two weeks I can confirm that the new wick made all the difference. So if you bought this and are having smell or heat output problems, try a new wick. I'm using a Kero World 91009. I've also decided not to bump this up one star as promised. After comparing the two wicks I can see difference in construction and I feel that Sengoku's QA could and should have seen the difference as well. -* for bad QA and -* for all the time I had to spend troubleshooting because of it.

Best Deals on Sengoku OR-77 HeatMate Omni-Radiant 10,000-BTU Portable Kerosene

I'm a young kerosene lamp collector but never encountered an unboxed Kerosene heater before. Decided to give it a try this winter since many gas stations here in Philly dispense undyed and untaxed 1-K cheaply ($2.80 in October 2009) and heating bills last few years are $200/month on average for our well insulated house. After reading reviews around, I was pretty settled on this omni-radiant design, but had reservations with the actual burning time due to short wick per this site and Mile Stair's site (highly recommended).

Then I had a chance to pick one up several weeks ago. Only $10 as the seller was moving so I figured there's little to loose. It's a 2005 run in like new condition. While it's the first time I got my hands on a kero heater, mechanically there is really no difference between it and any center draft lamps, save everything is in bigger size! Lighted it up easily and enjoy the cheap heat every since.

Two things I'd like to elaborate on this heater:

1. It burns 15 hours on a single fill when the outside is in 40s and 50s and my 600 sqft second level is toasty 75-78 degrees with a slightly crack window!

Update on Dec. 1, 2009: The kerosene gauge on the heater must be designed for trial lawyers, not actual usage. If one religiously follow the gauge from "F" to "E", s/he may get 7 hours out of "one full tank" at most. Nowadays I fill it well into the red zone on the gauge and burn it down another 3-4 hours after "E" mark. This way I can easily get 15 hours. In case you wonder, the record time I timed is almost 19 hours (!) on Low setting before kerosene completely runs out and it starts to smell due to dry burn.

2. I start and extinguish the heater in the garage so there is no smell in the house. The heater is delightfully light-weight for a grown man to carry around very carefully. In comparison, my small 14-candlelight kerosene lamp gives off detectable smell. Of course the burn efficiency is different purposefully.

Maybe I'm lucky but this thing is doing everything right. This winter I will save hundreds of dollars easy with this baby.

I've been shopping at Amazon.com since its inception. This is the first time I'm posting a product review even though I did not purchase through the site. Need I say more on what kind of recommendation I'm giving?!

Updated on 10/1/2010: Fall is here and I'm looking forward to putting the heater into another winter of service. In the unusually cold and snow record setting 2009-2010 Philly winter, my total kerosene cost is mere $172, which is less than my monthly heating bill in the previous winters!

Honest reviews on Sengoku OR-77 HeatMate Omni-Radiant 10,000-BTU Portable Kerosene

Calamity Jane has it right I can verify. I purchased this unit for backup in my cabin in case the generator failed and it happened. We were in an uninsulated cabin. 5 big guys without a lot of clothing frankly, in the dead of winter near Bismarck North Dakota. Just back from hunting and all our clothes were soaked. Didn't look good but this little puppy came through in a pinch. No problems lighting, and it heated the 150 sq feet cabin in a flash went all night and dried our clothes. Great when you need it.

I took reviewer Matt's advice to replace the factory wick and got great results; much less fumes and hotter temp. I wouldn't have thought wicks could be so different in performance but the improvement was amazing. A second heater I bought about 2 years later had a good wick with no problems.

The original wick wasn't held very firmly and using the trip switch to shut down the heater resulted in the wick getting jarred lower in the height control assembly so it wouldn't burn at full heat until it was repositioned. I just held the knob while depressing the trip switch and gently lowered the wick. The new wick is held firmly with no problems.

I left off the upper wire cage-guard when assembling and shortened the horizontal ends of the carry handle and bent it more to be snug against the top pan and reinstalled it. Leaving the top guard off allows cooking on the top pan, which gets to around 275F (350F now with new wick) or setting my aspen thermoelectric fan on it to blow the heat around the room instead of letting it rise straight up to the ceiling. (I highly recommend that fan if you use this heater very often to greatly increase its effectiveness--Really expensive now though.)

I use 1.75 liter liquor bottles with a plug-in pour spout to fill this heater, the spout stops flow when the level gets high and I can fill while the heater is burning if I shield the plastic bottle from the heat. Sure beats funnels.

3.5 liters fills the tank with the wick in it. I get about 13 hours from a tankfull; 5 gallons of kero gave 74-hrs(3-days) burn time. Using 135,000 btu/gal calculates to 9,122 btu/hr.

For newbs:

-wait 30 mins after fueling from dry for wick to wick up fuel before lighting

-light and extinguish in an unoccupied area because it fumes at these times

-keep yellow flame to a minimum so lower the wick a notch or three as it heats up and the flame grows

-even out flame by sliding burner with spring/handle toward high flame area

-leave a bit of ventilation for the oxygen it uses, 1/2 inch under-door gaps seem good but my old house probably has lots of little air leaks

-dry burn every three days or so (burn until it's out of fuel and goes out then raise wick to max, wait 30 mins and relight and let burn out again to remove tar from wick

-you should barely be able to smell this heater when it's working properly, if your eyes sting something's wrong and long term it's unhealthy to breath fumes

Heater was a litte hard to get hooked up, But after a Few trips to hardware store and then propane store I purchased all the right parts.

Was disappointed that it was dented on arrival, But since it was a factory rebuild I was to expect some flaws.

Heats well though.

I bought this unit to replace a blue flame that I had in the front room (suppliment heater). this thing works very well, like all, the first time you fire it up, open the windows to get rid of fumes, then it is fine! this is a Keeper!
