Cheap Holmes HFH131-TG Compact Heater Fan w/ Manual Controls
This fan-forced heater is nothing spectacular, nor is it bad. While it has only one heat setting, it still can crank out its share of heat. It also has a thermostat to control comfort levels as well as save on electricity. I've purchased different fan-forced heaters in the past, and must say that this one has the most output for the price. This unit is 1,200 watts, so there's plenty of power to heat a small room. Still, the low price is probably this heater's most attractive feature. For that, it gets my endorsement.

Overall, this was a great purchase. The unit is not that large, about the size of a large kitchen garbage can, and cooled a 10x10 foot room from 85 degrees to 77 in an hour. It is definitely much quieter than any window unit I've used. Once it gets to your set temperature, it maintains it with a minimum of noise.The biggest negative is the space needed behind the unit to run the exhaust duct to the window. For some reason, the output is at the bottom so you have to give enough room for the duct to double back and that requires about another foot of space between the window and the AC itself.
Although it's heavy, the casters make it easy to move if needed. Installation was quite easy, with very little assembly required.
Lots of great features, including fan only, heat, and dehumidify, and the remote is handy and easy to use.
I was skeptical about buying my first portable AC but am about to order a second one to replace our living room window unit.

I've had the item for less than two weeks. As I live in an area that needs dehumidifiers more often than A/C, I wanted a combo unit that was easy to pull out and put to work for especially hot, humid weeks and visitors, to supplement my basement dehumidifier. Knowing portable A/C units require frequent pan changes or drain hoses, I bought this item based on limited local availability of portable 9000BTU units. Out of the box, it worked fine. I was badly annoyed to find out that the hose drain plug is cheap, poorly made/leaky plastic, and, despite being located half way up the unit (about knee high), the entire unit had to be elevated 18" to keep the hose "below the unit", and level, per the instructions. Awkward and unsightly as this setup was in my dining room, it worked effectively, both dehydrating and cooling well. Not needing it for the rest of the week, I packed up the attachments, detached and coiled the hose, and pushed them all against the wall. The next time I set the system up, the hose leaked at the hose connection (flooding the floor) and was VERY easily overtightened, popping almost entirely out of the hose and leaking badly. After checking the hose seal & threads, I wiggled and shifted the hose and tightened it to the "sweet spot" where it was neither overtightened or leaky, I taped the hose to the wall to keep it from shifting to maintain the seal. Finally, it did not leak, but now, it would only drain from the pan in the bottom, and would stop every hour to have the pan emptied, so I disconnected the hose, and took it out to drain and check it for clogs/kinks nothing, worked fine, all clear. Hooked it back up to similar effect. There is nothing in the manual about this problem, no answers online, despite many complaints from similar Frigidaire products, and customer service has nothing to offer beyond "take it back". At 80 pounds dry, more now that it's wet, my answer was "really???" I paid twice as much as I did for my last unit, which was 1 size smaller and had similar qualities.The exhaust hose was also a nightmare. I had to tightly safety-wire the hose cap to the window fixture to keep it from backing out, and the rigidity of the hose kept forcing the window bracket out of alignment in the window, even over shifts as small as a centimeter. Also note: the hose doesn't fit in the storage spot with the caps on, so you have to screw& unscrew the caps every time you use it.
By the time I was done, the elegant design on the box was lost in extensive jerry-rigging. There are a lot of crappy models out there, so as an educated consumer, I'm used to being disappointed and making due but this is ridiculous. I wasted 8 hours of my life troubleshooting this. It's not worth the effort. Buy another brand or just save your money for something worthy.

As long as the unit is on a level surface there is not to much noise. I bought the FRA 093PT1 earlier this summer (2012). I bought it for my porch which is mostly windows and faces west, so I bought a unit a couple thousand BTUs more than considered necessary. All the windows are vertical and I knew the window kit that came with the unit wouldn't work, but I just cut a piece of plywood to fit the window opening and put a sheet metal collar in it (I think 6 inch) and duct-taped the AC hose to the opening. It looks ok. The only thing I need to remember is to crank open the window before turning the unit on. The first couple of days I had a lot of condensation, but once the air in the room was 'conditioned' I didn't need to empty the bucket more than a couple of times a week. Yes, it's a little louder than a window unit, but it just becomes white noise for me as I mostly read and study on the porch. I wish I could give this a better rating. The 'jaws' clamp down on the ese pods and make a great cup of espresso. The large water storage unit is clean and a great idea. the only problem was that after approximately 80 cups the pump burned out and the warranty service is in Italy.

I have had this machine for 4 months now and I've used it to demo coffee pods that I sell in multiple small businesses around the area I live in.It has gone through 2 boxes of 200 pods each (so 400 pods) and it has never had a problem. I just like the way it really clamps down on the pods forcing ALL the water and pressure trough the coffee and not out on the sides. It works great for me and the fact that I can just pop in water bottles in the "tank" is just great and avoids a whole lot of mess and spills.
Compared to other machines I've had it just performs better. And I am not sure about after sales assistance, but my guess is that getting in touch with whom it was purchased for should get the help needed, or alternatively, it's not exactly a space rocket, any decent repair shop should be able to fix it.

Be aware that the user must rig a water reservoir for this machine, oddly the design includes only a holding chamber for which user must insert a water bottle or similar improvisation, then run tubes into it. I used liter bottle of water, works fine. Instructions are Italian badly translated English so close attention required. For example user who is baffled by the instructions will pour water into what appears to be reservoir, only to find it runs immediately onto the counter. I had to return the first product I received due to careless packaging but eventually got everything working. Towels are nice and toasty warm when they come out.
My only complaints are
I wish the unit was a little bigger, so that a twin size blanket would fit
The unit can be used for back-to-back showers. After a use the unit must cool for about 20 minutes.
Day 1: I use the largest, fluffiest towels available, and I had some doubts that it would fit inside the Towel Spa. To my surprise, the folded towel fit nicely. Unfortunately when the heating cycle completed, only the parts of the towel that directly touched the unit's walls were hot. The rest of the towel was cool. The uneven heating was not what I was hoping for. There was also an unpleasant burning plastic kind of smell that really killed the whole "spa experience" atmosphere (and perhaps a brain cell or two). I also noticed that the outside of the unit got pretty hot.
Day 2: I decided to toss my son's smaller towel in the Towel Spa while he was in the bath. That worked much better, and I had a nice, hot (but not too hot) towel ready for him when he was done. He gives the Towel Spa a big thumbs up! The smell was still pretty strong, and I had to keep my son away from the too-hot Towel Spa, which wasn't easy in his smaller bathroom.
Day 3: I know this isn't what the Towel Spa was designed for, but fond memories of just-out-of-the-dryer clothes prompted me to toss in an undershirt and a pair of boxers. Now that's something to remember in the dead of winter! I could see using it for my son's pajamas as well. The smell persisted, but fortunately it doesn't seem to affect anything inside the Towel Spa.
Ultimately, drawbacks like external heat, that awful smell, and limited counter space outweighed the limited benefits (at least for me) of the Towel Spa, so I can't really give it a ringing endorsement. I can see using it in limited cases, especially in the winter, but overall it seems to fail as a luxury/spa item.

It does serve it's purpose, in that it does warm towels but seems to have some limitations. Now, I will say this caveat. When the Minnesota winter hits, I am intending to use it to warm up my hats, gloves, and socks and see how that goes. It may prove really useful for that. As a towel warmer for the average consumer I would give it three stars. Good concept, so-so execution. I'm just not sure this is something that people are going to say they 'have to have'.
The warm towel is very nice. I can see myself warming up my scarf, hat, socks even a small light blanket on those freezing winter days. I hope the new model (if there is one) would have a larger compartment to accomodate larger towels.

I bought this little guy because it was the same price as similarly specced machines, and it had the lowest wattage setting of them all (600W/1200W on LOW/HI respectively).Pros:
It heats my little 10x10 bedroom super fast. Because it is a lower wattage, I do have it plugged into an extension cord, and have not noticed any weird behavior. Both the heater plug and extension cord plug are cool to the touch after two hours of running the machine, which is about all I ever run it for anyway. The back, sides and bottom of the machine also say cool to the touch (at least on the low setting), which puts me at ease having is only 1ft from the wall in a corner of my little room. It is also quiet enough that I can watch TV and listen to music at pretty conservative volumes (I have roommates and like to watch TV in bed at night w/ this heater running).
Cons:
I was just looking at the unit and noticed the sticker on the bottom says the wattage is 800W/1200W... which is an extra 200W on the lower setting than advertised on both the box and on the site. This is a little disappointing, but not a total deal breaker. Also, the unit does not have any safety features (that I can see). It does not have tip-over protection, which leads me to believe it probably doesn't ahve overheat protection either... I can't be sure on this, but a quick skim of the brochure it came with didn't really tell me much.
Over, a decent heater if you don't plan to leave it running all the time while unattended; and if the 800W low setting isn't a deal breaker. It would be nice if that spec was changed on both the box and the site.

Wow this thing really cranks out some serious heat. It uses less energy than most ceramic heaters and is very stylish. I leave it on low and am wowed by its ability to heat a room up. The build quality is second to none. I love that it has a quality dust filter on back that will make for easy cleaning. My only complaint would be that the front grill get super hot making it difficult to pick up when it is on. Amazon carries another heater by the same maker as this one, it is the "Crane EE-6353 Space Heater 600/1200 Watt". The Product Features and Details seem to be switched on these two. At least this is my assumption; check them both out and you will probably agree.For instance, the larger one is probably the one that is 20" tall, and the smaller one 8.6" tall. Another important difference: the smaller one probably does not come with a remote, but the larger one probably does.

This is a 800/1200 watt unit not 600/1200 if it matters to anyone. It is 8" high by 3.25" deep by about 6.75" wide. The picture and model number are now correct on Amazon. No, it does not have a remote.Someone posted that this unit has tip-protection, but it does not (I just tried it). Disconcerting, but i'll live with it. If anyone is wondering, as it was a selling point for me, the construction is mostly metal (case & grate at least, impressive in a sea of plastic heaters), and the case does not get hot despite the warning sticker on top of the unit.
I am pleased with the performance, even though I'm downgrading from a Pelonis 4-ceramic-disk heater (It was my parents', I moved out, it stayed), and upgrading from a temporary [crappy] Lasko 'milk-house' style heater Wally World special. I wanted to get a Pelonis, but the company seems to barely acknowledge it's existence anymore and I didn't want to drop down 70 Washingtons for it. While the Pelonis is still superior to this unit, I think this little Crane comes pretty close, and I'll echo other reviews here for quiet operation and for heating up a 10x10 room pretty well. I suspect the only reason the Pelonis seemed to work better was due to more infrared heat put out of the unit and more air forced through the heating element (same fan size, but higher speed, your trade-off is loudness though).
Keep in mind that the vast majority of 'ceramic' heaters, including this one, don't use perforated ceramic plates, the kind used in the Pelonis and good infrared saunas (I have one, the plates in the heating units are similar to the Pelonis disks). To be honest, I don't even see where the 'ceramic' part comes into play with the Crane, it just looks like a metal element. But again, it still heats well, and for less than 35 dollars, it's hard to beat when accounting for it's size.
