I just got this fireplace and I love it! Very impressed with the realism of the flames and logs.

I bought this for the ambience it gives my living room and not for the heater so can't really comment on how well it will heat a room as I haven't used it.

Pros: Realistic looking flames and logs. Well built and sturdy. Open shelf is wide enough that it holds both my cable and home theater plus my center speaker.

Cons: The open shelf is only 14" in depth. So make sure you measure the components you plan on using. Mine stick out a bit but doesn't ruin the looks. This is the reason I have given it 4 stars instead of 5.

Cannot comment on shipping as I found this in a little shop. However, I had been looking on line and Amazon has the lowest price I have seen.

It was time for an upgrade for a more energy efficient Fridigaire A/C! We had a 12,000 BTU model that was struggling to deal with 97F + humidity summers: too much groaning and compressor failing! We decided to look for a higher BTU output and for apartment living there are much fewer choices and models to choose from compared with the window models: so here we are with the 14,000 BTU.

Thankfully, the sleeve was already there from our older model, and hence we intalled it ourselves that was not a difficult task but you will need 2 people to help! After a couple of days dealing with 100F + humidity: the A/C is doing its job and we noticed that it is distributing the cooled air more evenly (is that possible?). I noticed that with the older model (10 years old) that I could always feel the cold jet stream and had to put a cardigan on: now I dont need to and the cool air appears more distributed. Yeah!

Note that we have increased the rating from 4 to 5 stars following its wonderful performance over the brutal heat wave (106F) we just experienced.

We would like to stress to potential buyers that they need to follow the installation instructions and in particular to the installing the grill provided. The grill provided is designed such that the hot air blown out is not mixed with the cold air drawn into the A/C; our old grill had slants that faced downwards and that mixed the air flows so much that the A/C struggled to handle the heat. The new grill design is wonderful and should be fitted for all through the wall installations!

We are so pleased to get an upgrade and maybe you should also check out if your local energy company is offering any rebates for purchasing energy efficient appliances.

I bought this unit in March of 2009, and it died in May of 2011. The main control board, and another board blew out. Figidaire did nothing for me other than tell me I should have bought an extended warranty. Expecting an air conditioner to last more than 2 years is completely reasonable, and Frididaire obviously does not stand by its product. Do yourself a favor and do not buy this unit, or this brand. It's pure junk, just like the company that makes it.

I've had this air conditioner in for about 2 months now and it is great! I love having the remote, and being able to adjust a lot of settings. I live in a two bedroom condo and this unit is responsible for cooling about 800 square feet some days. I do agree that it is loud when you have it on full blast, but I think that it is something to expect when you rely on an ac unit instead of central air.

FYI it is a 230 volt plug, and in the box the air conditioner, a real grill, and a kit to fit it into an existing sleeve are included. If you do not have an existing sleeve, you need to buy one. Also, if you are installing yourself you need a drill to install the ground wire. Hope this helps!

Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA144HT2 14,000/13,600 BTU Through-the-Wall Room Air

Received damaged! Carton in terrible condition, Interior packing destroyed, left rear top of A/C dented so bad I could not attach rear grill. Product obviously had been sitting in warehouse, possibly even a return and repacked. UPS driver said to call amazon and file a claim. No way could I or would I return this monster! Decided to install as is without rear grill. So Far after 5 hrs of run time it seems to be ok. After at least 12 years of buying from amazon without a problem I decided to accept this piece of crap.

I needed another A/C but so concerned by this situation I bought it from Wal-mart for 30 dollars more. I doubt you will but I wish you could check the warehouse this was shipped from. there is obviously a problem there.

I will update this review as I get more time using the unit, but so far this is just what we were looking for.

This was put in an old existing sleeve, and the rear grill was mounted directly on the back of the unit. The manual says this way the units loses some efficiency, and that is a worst case scenario solution.

Still, this thing just blows ice cold air any time you want it. Really efficient. We live in an appartment on the last floor, and we expected cooling it to be a difficult task. We first went for a Sharp "portable" 10500 Btu unit from Costco, which could BARELY bring the temperature down a little.

We replaced it with the Frigidaire unit, and oh My, is there a difference ! This thing CHILLS !

Long story short:

PROS:

It just does what it's expected to do. And it does it well.

Functional remote (although see cons below).

All functions accessible without remote (yes, sounds logical, but some brands don't give you a fully functional panel on the unit any more).

On the flip side:

Loud. Less so than older similar units, but still noisy. Will add Db measurements when I get them.

Louvers: I can't understand how a flimsy Chinese portable unit like an SPT can have power louvers with remote control, oscillating and whatnot, while this supposedly branded thing would have louvers that are sticky in their vertical movement, to the point of making you afraid they'll break any time you touch them.

The remote looks like a total after thought. Yes, it is functional, it is smart, it actually allows you to use the remote as a temperature sensor (you can put it anywhere in the room and program it to get the remote's location temperature as the temperature main reading, not the sensor on the AC. Still, it's small, ugly, flimsy, un-ergonomic. Buttons are small, not back-lit, screen is not back-lit (and is small) all in all, it really feels like a "well thought afterthought" rather than like the remote on a Fujitsu or even a Sharp system.

Other than that, it's pure joy.

NOTE: We noticed a puddle of water gathering on the back of the unit. There is no drip hole. It will not drip inside the room (if you install the unite tilted the way it is supposed to be installed). I was ready to drill a drip hole, but tech support at Frigidaire told us this is meant to be this way, as the water is supposedly blown on the condenser to cool it further. Well, I still have my drill in case they are wrong.

Installation was easy and the product has a nice finish. Looks great in our living room. Eventhough it was bought just for the look and feel of a fire place, it does give off a fair amount of heat as well when you use 3 cans of gel. I Like the center panel that flips down which hides the audio/video equipment when not in use.

Make sure you also purchace the Gel fuel it does not come with the Fireplace. You may also want to get a Snuffer.

I had a great floor fan with remote for several years and was very happy with it, but, alas, it died. I purchased this Dyson, because I have been pleased with their vacuum cleaners. And it is a technological marvel.

However, there are a few things perspective buyers should know: it is called an "Air Multiplier" not a "Fan" per se. The difference is there are no blades to move the air. Dyson says this "eliminates the "choppiness" from fan blades". The best way to describe the difference in air movement is with a regular fan you feel the air being "fanned" upon you, with the Dyson Air Multiplier you feel the air just blowing on you. Imagine the difference between someone "fanning" you with a leafy palm branch vs. just blowing air on you). I have come to realize that I prefer the "choppiness" of fan blades because the more the air is agitated

as it is augmented, the more your skin feels the air currents and the better for the evaporation of sweat and the disipation of heat. But that's just my opinion on the best cooling air movements. It is quieter at lower speeds, but noisy (like a jet engine whine) at top speeds. The remote is very small and has only three buttons, one for on/off; one for variable fan speeds (just up or down, no pre-set low, med, high); and one to oscillate. (My old fan's remote was larger and included a temperature gauge to tell you the room's temperature and it also had a light for night use). But the worst design flaw in this product is that the remote's receiving sensor is in the base of the unit(right down on the floor). So, because I have a rather high bed, I have to sit up in bed and aim the remote down towards the floof to adjust the speed or turn the unit on of off, etc. That really seems to me to be a glaring design flaw in a fan that costs over $350 dollars.

BOTTOM LINE: It's not a FAN, it's an "Air Multiplier", that blows on you instead of fanning you. I would

recommend waiting until they improve the design of the remote control.

I couldn't decide between the Dyson Pedestal fan and the Tower Fan, so I went ahead and bought both to compare. Yes we kept both as well.

The Tower fan is great for the Living Room or family room for it stays more compact (slim and low profile) and spreads the air less concentrated on one area.(high and low)There is no adjustments that can be made on this fan, meaning no tilting or bringing the unit up and down. What you see it what you get.

The Pedestal fan is great for our bedroom; we have a really high bed. At the highest point of the pedestal fan it's even to where we lay. Since the Fan is more like a standard oscillating fan, the air is more concentrated to one area, so at night we through it on medium to low and let it keep us cool at night. The pedestal fan can be adjusted to the height by simply pushing it down or pulling up on the actually circle part of the fan. (The frame tube extends or compresses very handy and fast to do) Also this fan has a tilt. (The circle head part can be aimed where you want it) This fan is a little bulkier needs more room then the tower fan. (Due to the adjustments and the diameter or the circle part when oscillating)

On both models the High setting does a lot of air, at a louder noise. We joke about it and say the jet is taking off, for the fan does lean back a little when we turn the knob up. Set up of both fans is quick and very easy

The remotes are very handy and awesome. To store the remote it's a magnet in the fan and in the remote, so just lay the remote on the fan and it sticks

Overall Great Fans, if you can get over the Price of a $450 fan, you will be happy with it. They do have a 2 year warranty with Dyson, so that is nice. Our fans always break after 1 summer; these fans have been going strong for 1 year now, still no problems.

Both fans have the same amount of air coming through them on high settings, so there no difference in power between the two models.

Despite the ridiculous price, any serious fan-atic will appreciate this insanely simple device. The breeze is adjustable, the white noise is perfect for sleeping, and it just feels cool to own one. In pictures it looks like a bulky, heavy piece of equipment, but it's actually more plastic than metal, making it very lightweight (a plus from a mobility standpoint, a questionable minus from a structural standpoint). But I am pleased with everything about it. It it were 200 bucks I'd have one in every room.

Honest reviews on Dyson AM03 Pedestal Fan, Silver

The Dyson AM03 is a beautifully designed, yet poorly engineered product. One would think for $450 retail (and even for $299 on sale), that the fan would have outstanding engineering. The designers did their job, the engineers failed to consider at least one important factor in inventing a portable fan. Fans need not only cool, but should not raise the ambient noise level in a room so high that persons must raise their voices to be heard over the fan. On high the fan sounds like a jet liner taking off.

I love the look of the fan, and I would not trade my Dyson Vacuum cleaner for any other brand. But, unlike my vacuum cleaner which is designed to suck in a good way; the AM03 does so in a bad way.

The Amazon experience and the folks Buy Happier could not be any better. I am completely pleased with the buying experience. The product, however, fails to measure up.

I bought this fan on a bit of a whim. I live in San Francisco so it never gets incredibly hot but a fan is a welcome addition when we do have warmer days. So far this fan has performed better than I expected. The fan is definitely expensive but is easy to see where your money went. The unboxing reminded me of buying a Mac computer. It was elegantly packaged, concise and easy to understand. Putting the unit together took less than 5 minutes and has great fit and finish (like you would expect from a $300 fan).

It has a nice industrial feel with the plastic and aluminum housing. The weight is light enough to be portable but also sturdy enough to hold the fan in place on max speed. The fan has many speed settings and can be set easily by the remote or the actual base. As far as noise on normal settings its relatively quiet, but if you do turn it all the way up the swoosh of the air is audible. To give you an idea if I turn the fan to max and stand about 10-12 feet away it generates around 8-9db of white noise (my flat with windows open is at 51db and the fan at full was 59).

So one question might be can you tell a difference with this choppy air claim, and to be honest I really can't. It may feel a bit softer but that could be placebo. It will generate a good amount of air though.

The fan itself is easy to adjust, less obtrusive than a traditional fan and unless you step in front of the air flow path you wouldn't even know its on. I personally like the fact that when in operation only a circle around the power button faintly glows blue.

If you like minimalist, don't want your view blocked, or enjoy "mac" style engineering this probably is a safe bet for you.

Just as an FYI the power cord termination has a fuse built in so it might be wise to get a spare or at least be aware of it if your fan stops working.

My home is brick and was built in 1870 which means it has absolutely no insulation. I knew I couldn't stand another winter sitting in a drafty living room with blankets piled on. Whenever people would visit, I'd suggest they leave their shoes on because the floors were so drafty.

In September, I decided I wouldn't go through another cold and drafty winter so I started doing my research. I stumbled across the RugBuddy and it caught my eye. Like most people, I was a bit skeptical about making a fairly large purchase for an unknown item. After several weeks of debate I took the plunge. Several days later I received the product. It is a paper-thin film with heating elements running through it. I followed the simple instructions and within minutes turned it on.

Being a software engineer, I had to chart RugBuddy 's progress. I used an infrared instant thermometer laser and recorded that before turning on RugBuddy my area rug registered 62.5 degrees. After 1 hour it was 72 degrees. After 2 hours it reached 80 degrees. You instantly feel it on your stocking feet when you walk on the rug. After purchasing the RugBuddy, I now enjoy grabbing a pillow and lay on the floor to watch TV. It's like laying on a giant electric blanket.

I called the company to ask about electrical usage. They said that a panel to cover an 8x10 rug costs ~ .25/hr. in my area (New York State).

I hope this information proves useful to someone who is looking for an affordable solution to drafty rooms.

It was a very cold day and worked great. We realize now that the furnace doesn't run as much when the rug buddy is on. I highly recommend it..

This company apparently is not much of a company. I pulled apart the bed to place this heating mat under it so the bed could be warmed at night without turning on the heat for the whole house. It requires a rug pad underneath (just happened to have one that fits, but you wouldn't know you needed one unless you check around) and a rug to go on top. When I opened it the box, the mat was folded and when I tried to unfold it, it was all stuck together. I assumed that there was a reason for it, but I called customer care to find out whether this is unusual. At 4:45 on a Monday afternoon, the extension for tech support (apparently they only have one guy who does this) did not pick up, and I left a message--pleading to get a call back, since I had to leave within the hour and did not want to have to put my bed back together that night, take it apart again once I heard back from them, and go through the whole mess again. Of course, by 6 pm, no reply. I will not buy anything from a company with a single tech guy who leaves before five on any give day. Too much hassle.

We bought this to heat up specific areas of our drafty apartment. Mostly, we've been using it in our living room, which is miserably cold in the winter. The room is about 10x14, and this little heater maxes out to warm it comfortably. I used it one day to jumpstart the temperature in my son's much smaller room and it was effective in minutes. It really is for smaller rooms.

Pros:

-Does warm quiet well

-Stay cool housing

-Automatically turns off if tipped over

-Two fan speeds for heat, and one for fan alone (I can't tell any difference between low and high, though)

Cons:

-It's quite loud. If you're watching a movie, or trying to talk on the phone, it's a bit intrusive

-The cord gets warm. That seems rather worrying, except that we never leave it on or plugged in unmonitored. I don't feel like it is suddenly going to explode, I just wouldn't leave any electric heater on or plugged in with our old-house wiring (we even unplug our toaster when we're not using it)

-It's not very efficient if the heat is not turned all the way up comes off and on every five minutes or so, which, combined with the noise level, is a little annoying

-Also the grate on the front (pretty small) does heat up, so it'll have to be out of reach if you have crawlers or pets.

All this to say, we're keeping it. It's already here, the price was right and it makes our frozen tundra of a living room quite cozy. I'm just going to pretend the noise is the sound of crashing waves on a seashore in the tropics.

I have about 10 portable heaters between my house and my office. I have several Honeywell models which are ceramic. I also have the Honeywell model 709 oil-filled heater.

This model, the 370 ceramic heater, is the best so far. The thermostat works the way it should. The older models that Honeywell makes like the 339, and 341 work well, but the thermostat doesn't work the way it should.

This new model, the 370, works absolutely awesome.

Don't buy the oil filled model. I did some detailed testing with thermometers and timers. The ceramic model heats the room twice as well as the oil filled.

I use all my heaters every day for about 6 months per year. Take my word for it, this model is great.

The plastic will smell for a few weeks though. That seems unavoidable with any model unfortunately. Just run it in the basement or garage for 15 minutes per day for a few weeks and the smell is gone.

Buy this model and you won't be disappointed.

We bought several heaters and tested them out over the last 3 years. We have 2 little girls and use them to keep their rooms at 69 degrees at night (Wisconsin has some long winters). The others we tried were complicated to set or program, but this one is easy as pie. push the center dial, turn to the desired temp and if you want eco mode. That's it!!!!! It heats their 13'X12' bedrooms with ease, I would even say it would heat rooms up to twice that size. The first one we bought over 3 years ago and it is still going strong.

In Closing, if you are looking for a heater, look no further, spend a little extra $$ and get this model it is worth it

Honest reviews on Honeywell Oscillating Ceramic Heater, Gray, HZ-370GP

Hi, My name Is Mr. H. Patel and this is my first review on amazon. I never get a chance to write review. But i like this heater so much. I bought this heater from Walmart in clearance for $20 in March-2008. Since 2008 i am using it in 18 X 15 feet room and it's work's great. I am living in northern New jersey where winter is so brutal. sometime temp. drops down in -10 degree Fahrenheit. But this heater never gave up. It has nice thermostat control which turn on of in +/2 degree range of set temperature. Looks tiny but very powerful. also it has tip over safety feature works great. I have carpet in my all room. and i am putting this heater on small stool in corner it works for me.

After 3 winter i used i just cleaned it by opening it's panel from backside. Obviously it has lint kind of stuff clogged on top of ceramic element. I cleaned it now it's ready for 2011 winter.I recommend clean it every 2 years so it will not use extra electricity to heat it up room and work efficiently.

The Honeywell HZ-370 GP Electronic Ceramic Heater is "just the right size" if you are looking for a compact heater with a stylish design. It can be used for both floor and table top. I especially like the modern, streamlined body of this heater. There is a digital window which shows the room temperature, an energy saver button, a timer which can be set for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours. Also, the temperature can be set from 45 degrees to 80 degrees, and the heater will turn off when that temperature is reached; it will be displayed, and then blink. It will then turn back on when the temperature drops below the desired setting. There are two heat settings 1500 watts on high, and 900 watts in the energy saver mode.

By pressing the button on the top, the heater will oscilliate. There is a recessed handle on the top for convenience. It is equipped with several saftety devices and has a tip-over switch that disables the heater if tipped over. An Alert Heat Indicator Badge on the grille turns from black to red when hot. A high temperature safety control prevents overheating, and a back-up thermal circuit breaker will shut down the heater if operated a higher than normal temperatures. Also, the heater runs fairly quite for the amount of heat it puts out.

I was impressed with the many features of this heater and how efficiently it performs. It puts out ample heat for the size. If it came with a remote, it would have received 5 stars. This is the only feature it lacks, and I would have preferred to be included. Great little heater!

We purchased the Frigidaire FRA083PT1, because loading our large air conditioner

into the window was becoming too difficult. We've been quite pleased with it.

It is 90 deg out and a cool 77 deg inside cooling 600 sq ft. We keep the other

rooms closed off. I've also had the door of my office open for a while and it quickly cooled that space as well. The only thing I don't like is its large size and the fact that

the window attachment piece was too large for the 23" wide window we wanted to put it in and had

to cut the plastic piece down to fit.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

Overall, this was a great purchase. The unit is not that large, about the size of a large kitchen garbage can, and cooled a 10x10 foot room from 85 degrees to 77 in an hour. It is definitely much quieter than any window unit I've used. Once it gets to your set temperature, it maintains it with a minimum of noise.

The biggest negative is the space needed behind the unit to run the exhaust duct to the window. For some reason, the output is at the bottom so you have to give enough room for the duct to double back and that requires about another foot of space between the window and the AC itself.

Although it's heavy, the casters make it easy to move if needed. Installation was quite easy, with very little assembly required.

Lots of great features, including fan only, heat, and dehumidify, and the remote is handy and easy to use.

I was skeptical about buying my first portable AC but am about to order a second one to replace our living room window unit.

Best Deals on Frigidaire FRA093PT1 9,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote

I've had the item for less than two weeks. As I live in an area that needs dehumidifiers more often than A/C, I wanted a combo unit that was easy to pull out and put to work for especially hot, humid weeks and visitors, to supplement my basement dehumidifier. Knowing portable A/C units require frequent pan changes or drain hoses, I bought this item based on limited local availability of portable 9000BTU units. Out of the box, it worked fine. I was badly annoyed to find out that the hose drain plug is cheap, poorly made/leaky plastic, and, despite being located half way up the unit (about knee high), the entire unit had to be elevated 18" to keep the hose "below the unit", and level, per the instructions. Awkward and unsightly as this setup was in my dining room, it worked effectively, both dehydrating and cooling well. Not needing it for the rest of the week, I packed up the attachments, detached and coiled the hose, and pushed them all against the wall. The next time I set the system up, the hose leaked at the hose connection (flooding the floor) and was VERY easily overtightened, popping almost entirely out of the hose and leaking badly. After checking the hose seal & threads, I wiggled and shifted the hose and tightened it to the "sweet spot" where it was neither overtightened or leaky, I taped the hose to the wall to keep it from shifting to maintain the seal. Finally, it did not leak, but now, it would only drain from the pan in the bottom, and would stop every hour to have the pan emptied, so I disconnected the hose, and took it out to drain and check it for clogs/kinks nothing, worked fine, all clear. Hooked it back up to similar effect. There is nothing in the manual about this problem, no answers online, despite many complaints from similar Frigidaire products, and customer service has nothing to offer beyond "take it back". At 80 pounds dry, more now that it's wet, my answer was "really???" I paid twice as much as I did for my last unit, which was 1 size smaller and had similar qualities.

The exhaust hose was also a nightmare. I had to tightly safety-wire the hose cap to the window fixture to keep it from backing out, and the rigidity of the hose kept forcing the window bracket out of alignment in the window, even over shifts as small as a centimeter. Also note: the hose doesn't fit in the storage spot with the caps on, so you have to screw& unscrew the caps every time you use it.

By the time I was done, the elegant design on the box was lost in extensive jerry-rigging. There are a lot of crappy models out there, so as an educated consumer, I'm used to being disappointed and making due but this is ridiculous. I wasted 8 hours of my life troubleshooting this. It's not worth the effort. Buy another brand or just save your money for something worthy.

Honest reviews on Frigidaire FRA093PT1 9,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote

The Frigidaire FRA093PT1 runs very quite and the wheels make it very easy to move from room to room. When the compressor starts up, there is a little noise as to be expected. As long as the unit is on a level surface there is not to much noise. Shipping was a promised and it arrived in good shape and on time.

I bought the FRA 093PT1 earlier this summer (2012). I bought it for my porch which is mostly windows and faces west, so I bought a unit a couple thousand BTUs more than considered necessary. All the windows are vertical and I knew the window kit that came with the unit wouldn't work, but I just cut a piece of plywood to fit the window opening and put a sheet metal collar in it (I think 6 inch) and duct-taped the AC hose to the opening. It looks ok. The only thing I need to remember is to crank open the window before turning the unit on. The first couple of days I had a lot of condensation, but once the air in the room was 'conditioned' I didn't need to empty the bucket more than a couple of times a week. Yes, it's a little louder than a window unit, but it just becomes white noise for me as I mostly read and study on the porch. If it continues as it has this summer for the next 3 or 4 years I'd be happy to give it 5 stars.

I like the three heat settings, plus fan only. Thermostat works really well in holding the temperature in a tight range. (Not something my other heaters do well.) However, because its thin in depth, it tips over easily, especially on carpeted floors. Quality seems good or better than average for an inexpensive, plastic housing heater.

I chose this heater because I've used another one for 4 years with no problems. Other low-price heaters I've had lasted as little as 6 months. After 4 years of heavy use, the motor bearings rattle a little on start-up, but it still works fine. Excellent lifespan.

Good, small, low-power heater fan for a small room.

I use it for keeping my room slightly warmer than the thermostat temperature, and it works fine.

Bought 3 of these heaters from McDiarmid Lumber. I like the 3 heat settings plus fan and thermostat. They are relatively quiet. They are quite reliable compared to some other brands I've tried. Tried some Sunbeam fan heaters and 2 didn't work right out if the box nor did a third one. Avoid that brand!
