Installation was easy and the product has a nice finish. Looks great in our living room. Eventhough it was bought just for the look and feel of a fire place, it does give off a fair amount of heat as well when you use 3 cans of gel. I Like the center panel that flips down which hides the audio/video equipment when not in use.
Make sure you also purchace the Gel fuel it does not come with the Fireplace. You may also want to get a Snuffer.

I bought this to control power to battery chargers for portable devices using NiCad batteries. It works fine, and does what I intended it to do. This is the second one we bought. We really like it because it not only works very well, but also shows the present tempature in the room. No other ceramic heater that we've bought does this. It's competively priced with others being only a dollar or two off the competitors prices. Well worth the money!

This is really good and It can reduce our electricity energy consumption noticeably. Because we actually turn off the home's heating system and use this heater. Noted that it is good for a 5*5 meter room.Best Deals on Lasko 6221 Flat Panel Ceramic Heater, 15-Inch

Have had this for 24hrs and we already love it! We bought it for use in our nursery because the temp is difficult to maintain during the winter. We set it at 75 degrees and during the night both of our thermostats in his room (one on floor and one on top of shelf) were within 3 degrees of each other, which tells us it does regulate the temp VERY well. Our only issue is every time you touch a button it has a high pitched beep which could disturb our sleeping baby. But since you don't have to touch it after you set it to auto, we don't foresee this being a major issue.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Lasko 6221 Flat Panel Ceramic Heater, 15-Inch

Discount Vornado Whole room Heater
After trying NUMEROUS space and room heaters, I will ONLY buy Vornado heaters from now on. The first month of the first year I had my new sunroom, I warmed it with the installed Sears air cond/heater and had AN ELECTRIC BILL OF OVER $600!!!! (Usual bill had been $200 in winter.) The second month brought a bill of almost $400. I tried them all; VORTEX IS THE BEST (back to under $200). Even with electric rates going up and up, my VORTEX Heater heats ANY ROOM to a toasty temp, quickly and safely and INEXPENSIVELY. It is SO well made and efficient; I am SO IMPRESSED. I'm planning to buy two more for specific rooms in my house that seem hard to heat so I don't have to keep moving my Vortex around. I look for bargains and try to only pay $100 for each heater; bought mine off of Amazon. Hope my experience will help someone else.
I have oil heat at home which is expensive to say the least. By using 2 of these little buggers I havent had a winter day in which my apartment drops below 70 degrees. (NO OIL CONSUMED)
Draws off a relatively low amount of energy running these 2 units at full time I only saw a $20/mo increase in my electric bill, PLUS a 5 year warranty!
Constumer service for these units is great as well, I had an issue with one, sent them an email with the product info in it and they mailed me a pre-paid UPS return label.
Each one of these units can raise the temp of a room/apartment by 5-10 degrees.
ADVISE: Once you reach your desired temp in your area, adjust the temp gauge on the heater/fan to what that temperature actually is. This will reduce the strain on the unit and increase the unit life.

These heaters have a propensity to fail after a year. they never get "really hot", no glowing, wasteful 1500 watt machine... so why do the over heat sensors fail: I've had 4 fail like this. The company wants more to fix them than the purchase price. I like the idea... but inferior parts and 100% of 4 units so far (at removed the overheat sensors and they work fine... but I'd rather them work as they're supposed to).Best Deals on Vornado Whole room Heater

Wow what a waste of money. Bought this for our travel trailer (24 ft). Thought it would heat it better than the little ceramic heater we normally used. We hunt in Idaho and Colorado and don't want to use the propane all the time. Soon as we get home I am going to try and return it. We bought it a couple of weeks before our trip and it was too hot at home to test it out. I we don't get good results I will add to this report. Does anyone know of a good small space heater that will serve our purpose?Monday, June 9, 2014

This top-of-the-line residential heater turned my backyard into a cozy oasis! When mounted 8 ft above the ground as required by code, it covers an area of about 10 ft x 10 ft. It mainly warms the skin when it is directly exposed. Do not expect it to warm the air as much as a gas-powered heater does. The infrared heat emitted by this heater mainly warms surfaces rather than the air without the smell of gas and without the hassle of failing igniters. The heat comes on at the flick of a switch. Be aware that at 6,000 Watts it is quite power-hungry, but if you have solar panels on the roof it may still be economical. The convenience of instant heat is priceless!

I had a particular heating problem. I have a spa room built outside the house over an old cement patio about 6 feet from my back door, so it does not have access to the central heat. The room is not insulated, and has about 1/3 glass windows so I can look out into the yard while in the tub. I'm telling you all this so you will understand that the area is not easily heated. It is used for only short periods of time, so I didn't want to heat it 24/7. Without heating, the room is probably only 4 degrees warmer than the outdoor temperature.
In very cold weather, without a supplemental source of heat, I simply cannot abide undressing in 40° or less, even if the spa itself is nice and warm. So I bought a series of inexpensive heaters, none of which would do anything except heat the few feet around the heater. Then I saw the Laslo which said it had a "push" system to get the heat into the room. Having no idea what the "push" entailed, I bought it, knowing I could return this heater, as I'd done with the previous two, if it did not fill my needs. But I did not need to return it. It works for my purpose.
The unit is attractive, is tall and narrow so can fit into a small area, yet throw out heat sufficient to allow me to undress, use the spa, and re-dress in comfort. Then I turn it off. (I preheat the room easily using the digital brightly lit, large LCD thermostat which shows the ambient temperature, and moves up as the room heats. This a.m. the room started at 43° and now, after 15 minutes, it is up to 50° already. If I open the lid of the spa it will heat even more rapidly, of course). The room contains 3 exercise machines, also, so we can now exercise in comfort, as well. I have no need for the remote control which comes with the unit since I'm either in water or on a machine while using it.
I highly recommend this heater.
I think the heater is worth a try. The fan on high is not very loud, although you can readily hear it. I'm a light sleeper and I had no problem going to sleep with it on. It's a lot less noisy that the top-rated Vornado I own. Heaters with no fans don't distribute the heat very well so that was not an option for me; I knew there would be some noise with any fan. Would I buy this heater again? Yes, knowing what I know now, and I will follow up if my experience changes over the next several days.
Efficiency
This heater does a good job of maintaining a comfortable living temperature. I set the temperature as I would a thermostat adjusting it to around 60 when I am going to be gone a long time, and raising it when I am home. I did find that if let the ambient temperature get two low while I am away, it will take the heater a long time to warm up the entire place, so I have a second smaller space heater that I use intermittently just to offset any excessive winter chill.
Thermostat Accuracy:
The digital thermostat is fairly accurate once the heat is circulated throughout the room , however, when it first turns on there may be up to a five degree difference in temperature based on how far away you are from the heater. When I return home I usually se the thermostat a few degrees higher than my target temperature and turn it down after I have been home awhile. I have another thermostat on the opposite side of the room, as well as a ceiling fan and have found that after about 20 minutes or so the ambient temperature evens out.
Cost vs other heat sources
This heater produces a LOT of heat and so will use a lot of electricity if run continuously as I do. For comparison I had been paying hundreds of dollars to heat my apartment when I had gas but running this heater as my sole heat source (on high) will cost me between 40 and $100 per month depending on how cold it is. We had a month last year where it was regularly 14 to 30 degrees below zero for more than two weeks and this heater kept me warm, but it added about $100 to my electric bill. So if you have a primary heat source other than this one, remember to turn it down as low as possible, and to block off unused areas or you will counteract any savings this powerful little heater might provide.
The unit cycles to maintain a temp in auto mode by going 2 degrees over and under your set temp. So if you have it set to say 60 it will turn on at 58 and off at 62. I like this feature as it runs less overall. The rotation feature is smooth and quite, like the fan. The only loud thing on it is the thermostat, it makes an audible click like a bottle cap pop when the unit cycles on and off. Did not bother me but thought I would mention it. This thing puts out a lot of heat for its size and I was really amazed at how small it was, tucks in a corner nicely. Its perfect for an office, small bedroom (10x10), hallway or porch...
I monitored this unit with a Kill-a-watt power meter and @ .22cents per kw this unit is running about $24 per month to heat an uninsulated hallway in in old victorian home. We have it set @ 62 deg and the unit cycles on as needed. TO give you an idea its been about 25-30deg outside and the hallway befor the heater was 44 deg on average, colder overnight. So its raising the temp about 18deg for us ...huge diffrence...and worth it.

The heater work well in that it heats the room by several degrees (starting at 69) in just a few minutes. We used it last night for the first time in our 14'x15'x8' bedroom and after some experimentation put the thermostat at 75 degrees. The instructions say that in the automatic mode the unit will radiate heat until 77 degrees is reached and shut off at 74 degrees. It does shut off when the LED indicates the room temp. at 74 and stays on until 76 degrees (not 77). However, there is a disconnect between the digital thermometer in my room and the one on the heater. My digital thermometer indicates a low of 71.4 F. and a high of 75.4 F. I'm willing to live with that and the trick is to not be concerned about what's on the LED of the heater but what is the actual temperature of your room. I've never seen any heater's temp readout be accurate. Will exchanging it matter? I don't know, but if the room were to become too cold or hot during a given cycle I would exchange it. There seems to be no such thing as a perfect heater, so compromises need to be made. I find it confusing that there are about seven Lasko heaters within the same price range but numbered differently so I was not able to determine which one would best for my needs. I got this one because it was the only Lasko they had at Bed, Bath and Beyond.I think the heater is worth a try. The fan on high is not very loud, although you can readily hear it. This ceramic space heater has two fan speeds. Both speeds are quiet considering their blowing strength. The heater can oscillate, moving about 45 angle degrees back and forth on its little lower section; this is very smooth, not jumpy like some cheap oscillating fans. The room temperature is displayed normally on a very bright LED readout that shows the set temperature once you go to set the built-in thermostat. All the buttons are easy to access and give a light beep for confirmation. You can turn oscillation on or off, set high or low fan speed, set temperature, or use an automatic shutoff timer up to 8 hours. Looks great, with a great fit and finish.Honest reviews on Lasko 5521 Ceramic Tower Heater
This will be my 3rd winter with this heater. I live in a cabin, (yes literally a cabin), but it is insulated and is small enough that it doesn't have a furnace. I use this heater in my main living space. It stays on all winter once the temperature begins to drop below freezing and has worked really well.Efficiency

I purchased this product after reading several positive, if not quite rave, reviews. I was particularly interested in the ability to regulate the temperature using the thermostat. I was using it to supplement the heat in a large bedroom at my parents home in Chicago during this past, particularly cold, winter.
Set up instructions were adequate. I attached the legs and the casters, re-read the precautions about placement in the room, plugged it in and turned it on. It immediately began heating up. Greatly encouraged, I set the thermostat, stayed in the room for a while and, deciding it was like watching and waiting for a pot of water to boil, I left the room. I waited about 25 minutes and then went back into the room to see how much it had heated the room. I was surprised to find the indicator light on the heater off and no heat being emitted. The room was still very chilly.
I turned the thermostat up thinking that would start the heater again.... nothing.
I turned it to the off position and then on again.... nothing.
I turned the thermostat to it's highest possible temperature setting.... nothing.
I tried turning it on and off at both heat level wattage settings.... nothing.
I unplugged it and replugged it and turned it on again... nothing.
I checked to be sure it had not tripped the circuit breaker.... it had not.
I unplugged it, waited a while longer to see if, after completely cooling down, it would start again... nothing.
Simply put, this product just stopped working within an hour of first plugging it in.
I sent it back to Amazon for a refund, drove over to Home Depot and bought a portable heater that their manager recommended. It worked just fine.

I have had this heater for a month-and-a-half, and I am very pleased with it. I had hoped it would heat the whole area (a basement apartment-in-progress), which it does not. But what it does do is to heat whatever/whoever is in front of it. It feels like sitting in front of a fireplace! Toasty warm, although it does limit how far away from it you can get. Before getting the Optimus H-8408, I had a different type of heater that was also rated for large rooms. IT DID NOTHING, except make a lot of noise (fan-forced type heater). The Optimus is SILENT, and good value for the money. Don't expect it to work miracles, especially if it is your ONLY source of heat, but it certainly has kept me happy through January and the first half of February in an unfinished basement!Saturday, December 7, 2013

Description says brushed metal but it is really plastic. Face plate is also a bit oversized. Probably fine for single box/plate installation, but my application was in a double plate switch cover and this plate would not work with double plate. Older timer models bought before had a smaller plate that sit into indent where normal toggle switch sat. They were also white, not brushed metal color. Fortunately I was upgrading my 60 minute timer to this 6 hour timer, so I relabeled the numbers on my old smaller white 60 minute timer plate to work. Otherwise timer works great.

I would give it 5 stars but the FACE PLATE in Plastic, NOT BRUSHED METAL as advertised. I think seller should change description as others have complained and nothing is done about it. I got this for my patio in Costa Rica and the people there usually leave the lights on 24/7 since during the day, they don't realize the lights are on. It gets dark around 6 year around in C.R. and with the 6 hour timer, it tells them to get to bed and not stay up all night playing. Overall a great timer and great invention. I have owned many of these over the years and I have found the longer the maximum time interval, the shorter the life of the timer. This is my first 6 hour timer. Let's see how it last compared to a 12 hour timer.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Intermatic FF6H 6-Hour Spring Loaded Wall Timer, Brushed Metal
I had a 30 year old in the wall timer that stopped working. This one seemed to be nearly identical (except I went from an old 12 hour timer to this new 6 hour timer). The item functions properly, but the description is wrong. The cover plate is *not* brushed metal, it is grey plastic. My old 12 hour timer had a brushed metal cover plate, so I wanted the same for the replacement. Somewhat disappointed about this. And no, I cannot use my old cover plate because I changed from a 12 hour timer to a 6 hour timer (half the price not sure why). One star deducted for the misleading description/title.Monday, December 2, 2013
Sta-Rite Max-E-Therm Thermal Regulator 38000-0007s Reviews
I downloaded the trouble shooting guide from Sta-Rite and went through the diagnostics for my problem. A bad sensor was indicated. Called Sta-Rite to confirm. The tech said it was actually the thermal regulator that had gone bad.
I placed the order on July 3rd. It shipped the same day and showed a delivery date of July 11 to July 26th. Imagine my surprise when the mail lady delivered it on July 7th.
It took about ten minutes to swap out the regulator and I now have a hot spa again.
Thank you Discount Pool Mart for the excellent service!

Cheap Sengoku Heat Mate Portable Radiant Kerosene Heater 10,600 BTU
I've been using this heater for several years and have had no problems whatsoever. About 1/2 the heat is radiant, the other half is hot air rising from the unit.
It will burn for 12 to 14 hours before having to refill its 1-gallon removable tank. During this time, it emits no smell at all. The heat adjustment range is from 90% to 100% like any kerosene heater, it is not safe to try to turn it down below this range.
The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the electric lighter bulb burns out too easily it is like a flashlight bulb without the glass bulb when you press the igniter, the bulb's glowing filament presses against the wick, igniting it if the wick doesn't break the filament. In this case, a long wand butane lighter works just fine.
It is true that the very first time a kerosene heater is lit, it will stink. Once the burner has come up to operating temperature for the first time, the metal parts become annealed and ready for use. If the other reviewer lit it for the first time indoors, not knowing this, it would have been a very unpleasant surprise. The first time should be outdoors. After that, you can take it inside.
I will have to buy another one next year and it won't be this brand. No customer service to help,
I called the number on the manual and received an answering machine that has not called back!
Replacing the wick where it says to remove the pins to take out the wick assembly. I did not know whether to pull or unscrew them. Finally just tried rotating the cylinder so they slide out of the slots and that worked so easy. Just did the opposite to put the assembly back together again.
I changed the wick this season my first season only because I was not very good in maintaining and doing the dry burn. Take the time! Do it! Otherwise you will be replacing the wick way sooner than if you had just done the dry burn

I bought this heater for my bedroom. When it arrived I unpacked it and there was a small dent on the edge of the case. It should be packed in another box instead of shipping it in the original packaging. Those Shipping Companies throw these boxes around loading and unloading to put on the delivery trucks. The first night it was smelly. The next night the smell was gone. It burns clean now and uses very little kerosene. Light it outside the first time. It says in the directions that there is an oil that takes three to four hours to burn off. It will heat up to four rooms at night. It throws out plenty of heat. The other guy that wrote that it smelled probably used the wrong type of kerosene or just didn't know how to use it. Believe me it is well worth the money. This has got to be the worst kerosene heater. No matter what you do to it, it emits tons of fumes. And there is no help from the manufacturer. Don't buy it, find another company and buy theirs. We use kerosene to heat our house, we have three other heaters and none of them smell like kero when they burn. The price is great, but the heater isn't.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Sengoku Heat Mate Portable Radiant Kerosene Heater 10,600 BTU
I love my heat Mate! Last year was a warm winter but it still cost me 1257.38 to heat with propane. I have a propane hot water and stove also. This year so far all of Nov through January I have spent 356.00 with propane and Kerosene. The living room is about 73 and a small fan at the end of the hall puts the Den and 2 bedrooms at around 68.Replacing the wick where it says to remove the pins to take out the wick assembly. Takes a while to assemble need to get some grey grout from Lowe's there will be one gap between the pieces but it is an easy fix. Over all really good. Wish I could get a gas insert for it the fuel is a little high dollar but my wife enjoys it and that is all that matter. one more thing it is cheaper here by several hundred dollars on other sites.
