This is a very nice fireplace and looks awesome in our living room. When it is on, the view is almost real and provides a comfortable heat without noise. It took me only about an hour to set it up and I just added a glass sheet on top to protect the surface.

I highly recommend it.

I was a little concerned about buying a dozen filters at over $100 without trying one first. I've been very pleasantly surprised. They are every bit as good as, if not better than, the Filtrete "Micro Allergen" filters that I normally use (which cost about 50% more.) These filters are structural sound, in fact, I think they are more sturdy than the Filtrete filters. That is the characteristic that I was most nervous about as I've previously had discount filters (from other manufactures) buckle and collapse inside my ducts. The filtering media itself also appears to be high quality. I've had them installed for several weeks now and everything appears to be working well. I will definitely buy Nordic Pure filters again.

We decided that because of the high cost of heating that they are predicting for this winter that we would purchase a couple space heaters. I just purchased this a couple days ago at a local store, which happened to be more expensive than Amazon's price. We've set up the space heater in our Family Room and are quite happy with the warmth it has provided so far. It is also very quiet and doesn't look odd or out of place in our decor. It's light and very easy to move. The safety features are great.....once it tips even a little it stops. I'm sure that this must be a requirement for other heaters but we were happy with this feature as the kids are always running around and knocking things down. We'd hate to have it start a fire. I'm thinking about purchasing another heater for upstairs and will update this review if I have any negative feedback.

Just bought this at a local store for a bit less than here. It is amazing. It has a beam that shuts down the heater if something blocks it for more than 3 seconds and it puts out a lot of heat. I bought it for my bedroom but it could heat the whole upper level. The only draw back is no thermostat. Just on and off with a 4 hr timer option. Otherwise, I would buy this over and over again. Super heater.

I purchased two of these units in the fall. For their size they really put out the heat, but that can be a problem, because they don't have thermostats. So on just a slightly chilly day you can really end up with the space your warming too hot for ones liking. The timer feature is helpful, but doesn't replace a thermostat. After months of use, one of the heaters stopped working for me, but the other is still going as good as the day we purchased it. I think this heater is a fair value for a price of $29.99.

This is actually a (stated) 12 foot flexible hose for a natural gas grill. $30 is a very good price for a quality hose, which this is. Also comes with detailed instructions on a few different ways to connect to your gas supply and a template to help determine what size connections you have.

Ordered this to convert my portable grill to a more stationary use. Daily grilling I was using too many mini-tanks.

Awesome. Easy connect.

Best Deals on Char-Broil Tank Quick-Connect Kit

Good alternative for a tools-free quick connect to a gas grill or other propane fueled device. The quick connect can be a bit hard for a person with a weak grip to engage and disengage. Perhaps this is plus if you have kids around. The hose is 10' long, not 4' as stated in the ad when I purchased the item. The flexible hose is vulnerable to being chewed by squirrels and raccoons to the point of leaking gas. I have replaced two hoses because of the forest critters. I have now sleeved the hose in flexible blue plastic electrical conduit to stop the damage.

Honest reviews on Char-Broil Tank Quick-Connect Kit

My own fault, should not have tried to match this online I guess, I thought quick connect LP was a standard size..NOT. This one was too big for my low pressure quick connect on my RV. I will be returning it and finding my solution at the Home Improvement stores where I can test fit for my application. The return shipping hassle will make it an expensive lesson for me.

Great quality, worked as advertized. This is a perfect way to connect RV dual tanks to a barbeque unit placed outside. Should have done this years ago. NO NEED to carry extra propane bottles while on the road.

This is a great heater! We use it to heat the living area of our RV. The living area is approximately 26' x 10' with normal height ceilings. We've tried a few different compact room heaters, but they were too small to heat the area and also way too noisy. We've had the heater about 4 months now. Since we are staying in cooler climates, we've used it almost every night (overnight).

The best features about this heater are:

It's QUIET!!!

Really!! We have tried many heaters in our RV and house over the years and they tend to be so noisy. The model we tried before purchasing the Lasko was so noisy we had to crank the tv volume up to hear over it. This Lasko seems to be about as quiet as a fan could be.

It has an automatic thermostat you can set.

This model has a high/low and auto setting. The high/low settings are not thermostat controlled. You simply choose hotter or less hot air. :) The auto setting allows you to set the thermostat to the temperature you desire. It seems reasonably "accurate". That is, the temperature it displays is within 3-4 degrees of the other thermometers I have around the room. Once you set the thermostat, the heater cycles on/off, just like you would expect. This is a great way to keep the room at your target temperature. We use this mode every night.

It oscillates.

This sounds like a silly feature to list, but it makes a big difference in heating up a room. The previous heaters we've had did not oscillate. Therefore, the area directly in front of the heater was warmed, but the rest of the room was not. The oscillation really helps get the heat moved around the room so that you are not creating hot and cold spots. We always turn on the oscillation to heat the room. I am sold on that feature and would not buy another heater in the future unless it oscillated.

It has a remote control.

The only thing that would make it better is if you could see the settings on the remote instead of having to look at the top of the heater. But, if they did that, the cost would go up. So, I'm happy with this remote given the price of the unit.

There are a couple of negatives about this heater:

To me, it is annoying that it beeps for every setting you change. This may be a problem if you plan to use it in your bedroom and change settings while someone is asleep. The beeping is really apparent when you want to change the thermostat. When you unplug the heater, it resets itself to 75 degrees. So, if you then want to set it to 60 degrees, you are going to hear 15 LOUD beeps. Turn it on beep. Choose oscillate beep. Change to auto setting beep. Decide to up the temperature by 3 degrees during the night beep, beep, beep... and your partner is now awake! You get the idea. :) I assume Lasko designed the beep so that you would know you changed something while clicking the remote control. But, it's so loud they should either make it softer or give you an option to turn it off.

There is no "fan only" setting.

It seems like most heaters I've purchased in the past have a fan only setting. I'm not sure why this one does not. Since you have the big unit sitting there in your room, it would be nice if it could be used to circulate air during the day when it's warmer, and then heat at night once the temps have dropped. Since we are using this heater in our RV, it's more noticeable to me since we need to have space for the both the heater and a fan. Oh well.

Overall, we love this heater and would buy it again.

I rate it at 4.5 stars.

(PS we bought it at a local store, not via Amazon, so I can't comment on shipping).

UPDATE 1/18/2010: We've had this heater about 1 year now and it's still going strong. One thing I've noticed is that it will build up lint (Ummm... ok, cat & dog fur...). I wish there was a filter we could access and clean more directly. Oh well, other than that this heater is still doing great.

I own two of these Lasko tower heaters--this review is for the newest one which has a remote control. In the accompanying video, you will see a detailed explanation of the buttons on the control panel and the indicator lights on the screen. In the video, I note that the only thing I really DISlike about this heater is that what passes for a carry handle on the back of this model is pathetic...I can't see how anyone could pick up the heater and carry it that way. In fact, when I tried, I dropped it. My other heater has an obvious carry handle on the top.

The remote control is fantastic for turning the unit on and off or changing the thermostat from bed, from across the room, etc. The remote contains all the controls that the actual heater has on its control panel. When the heater is oscillating, it can be a little tricky to get the remote to "talk" to the heater at first...you just have to wait for it to oscillate toward you to click the remote.

UPDATE: This heater died yesterday (Jan. 18, 2012). I have no clue what happened. I went to turn it earlier and nothing. Used the reset instructions which say to unplug and wait 5 minutes and turn it back on. Nothing. Tried it in 3 different outlets. Nothing. Bummer.

this heater is a life saver! my room mate and i are too cheap to have the heater on all the time. when we are home we have it on at a tolerable 65 degrees and turn it off when we leave the apartment. the heater is a great way to save on the bills and is eco-friendly. it heats up my room very well and pretty fast.

i decided to get lasko just because my boss has one in his office and i do like it. i also saw it at wal-mart and for only 45 dollars (w00t) and it's up for 75 bucks on the lasko website (double w00t) so it was a good deal!

the bad:

-the digital display is on top of the heater. it's inconvenient when i want to see the digital display screen from my bed

-no fan only option

the good!:

-quiet enough for me to fall asleep to (and i'm a light sleeper!)

-comes with a cute little remote controller with the same buttons as the heater and is very convenient if you don't want to get out of bed

-the heater beeps when you use the remote on it to show that it gets the command

-very cool feature: the auto option is great! let's say i have it set to 75 degrees. the heater will heat up to 77 degrees and temporarily shut off till the room cools down to 74 degrees. then the heater starts up again and the cycle keeps continuing till you or the timer shuts it off. i usually have this on when i'm sleeping and have no worries about being too hot.

-a timer that goes up to 8 hours

-high, low, or automatic setting

-can turn from side to side only on the high and auto setting

-compact

-has a handle in the back for easy carrying

i've had this heater only for a month, but i can tell it's going to last for a long while! because of it, i'm going to trust lasko!! i highly recommend this heater. as you can see, the good outweighs the bad!

Honest reviews on Lasko 755320 Ceramic Tower Heater with Digital Display and Remote

I bought this heater for $40 and am pleased with its performance. We use it in our basement gameroom and live in Western PA cooler climate.

The heating element is the same for all of their heaters meaning they all provide the same amount of heat. The differences are in the features. This model has a couple features worth noting.

oscillating the heater slowly turns back and forth to disperse the heat around the room. Control this on the remote or the unit.

thermostat the heater kicks on when the ambient temp around the heater is 2 degrees under the set temp. It stays on until it reaches the desired temp. Control this on the remote or the unit.

CONS: the only negative to this model is that the temperature is digitally displayed but faces UP. When seated on a couch level with the unit, you can not see the temperature. Obviously this is not a reason to not buy this model but it is worth noting. This is why the unit received 4/5 stars. It is otherwise perfect!

Regarding the hot cord, I did not experience this. But I also did not have it running for 5+ continuous hours. Ours kicks on until the room is up to the set temp and turns off. If it was running on high for hours on end, the cord will probably heat up. Any heater will do this.

I only noticed the smell of heated plastic for the first 5 minutes the unit was on (first time it was started). This smell went away and I have not noticed it sense (few weeks of owning it and use it every night).

I bought one of these last year to put in my bedroom because I live on a three-floor townhome and the termostat is on the second floor. My bedroom is very large and the little heater did a great job warming it up. So I decided to get a couple more heaters, one for the guest bedroom and one for my basement office. They did such a great job and made my energy bill so much lower that I brought the guest room heater to the living room and turned off the central heat.

This year, I went to a store and saw them at a lower price, so I went ahead and bought another one to put back in the guest bedroom. They are really great because not only do they have remote controls, but they also have an auto setting, so you can program the temperature you want and just leave it on. Programming is as easy as pushing a button to set it higher or another one to set it lower, and the heater thermostat makes sure the room stays at about the temperature you set. This product is so good that two of my friends went ahead and bought some for their houses after they came over and I told them about how happy I am with them!

Here are my thoughts on this product:

PROS

light and easy to carry around if you want to move it from one room to another

durable, the ones I bought a year ago work as great as they did when I bought them

convenient and easy to use remote control

easy to use digital control on the unit

automatic temperature setting

heats up the space quickly, even larger rooms

does not use much electricity

nice design, easy on the eyes

cheap and small enough that you can get one for each room of your place

for multi-floored homes, if working with central heaters it will help level the heat throughout the place

CONS

after thinking a lot, I realized that the only con is that you have to be careful where you store the remote control during the summer. I had put the ones that are in rooms where there are drawers in the drawers, but can't remember where I put the remote for the unit in my living room. So, if you purchase this during the cold months, come up with a system for storing the remotes at a place you will remember by the time it gets cold again next year.

UPDATE: When the temperature gets really low outside (teens through low 20th's) I do turn on my central heater to help with the larger area of my place (living and dining rooms that are open together). So, if you live in a colder region and have larger areas with big windows or sliding doors, one of these heaters may not be enough to keep such areas toasty. Although, if it is a larger area that has heavy curtains helping insulate it, etc, then it may be all you need (ie: my bedroom is 15 x 12 and this little heater handles all that is needed to keep the room warm, and the finished part of my basement that has only a window--not a large glass sliding door like the living room-can also be kept really nice and warm with just one of these heaters running in it).

Enjoy your warm home!

Works fine, good heat output and surfaces stay cool. The "replaceable" heating element is a bit misleading since the heating elements cannot be found anywhere. If you buy this item, make sure the elements are seated properly because if an end is not properly seated it will burn out over time.

I drink tea every morning. Until a couple weeks ago, I was heating water in the microwave every morning. Then my brother-in-law informed me that was the least efficient way to heat water, I did some research and found he was right. I was very excited to get this electric kettle. I looked for one that could be lifted off the corded base, had an auto-shut-off, boiled water quickly so I could get out the door quickly in the morning, was not expensive, and did not have plastic in contact with the water that could leech BPA or other dangerous chemicals. I took a chance on this one based on what I saw and read here.

In most ways, this kettle works great. There's a light indicating when it's on, it heats 16 oz of water in a little over two minutes, is easy to handle, use, and pour. The plastic locking lid is a little awkward sometimes, just pushing it down does not always close it tightly, sometimes you have to pull the lock back with your finger at the same time.

But on the bottom of the box there is the California Proposition 65 warning (from the 1980s) that this product is made with chemicals known by the State of California to cause cancer or infertility. Ok, fine -which chemicals and are they going to leech into the water or are they say just on the lid or handle? I was unable to find any explanation or answer to that question.

On top of that, there is a strong odor inside this electric kettle when it gets hot. It is strong enough that if you boil water, pour the water out, open the lid, put your nose up to the top and take a deep breath, you will recoil a bit. It's not a disgusting or especially bad odor. I'm not able to identify what the source is, whether it's from hot plastic, or hot silicone, or something else. But in combination with the chemical warning (and I'm glad to be warned if it's not safe), I'm not willing to risk my health on a cheap electric kettle that might not be safe for the daily long-term use I intended for it.

I am trying to return the kettle. Since it was sold by an Amazon partner instead of Amazon proper, I am still waiting to hear whether that's possible and how to do so.

--UPDATE ---

Thank you for your comment. They accepted my return request within a few days.

I bought this for my boyfriend because he didn't own any form of kettle (crazy!!)

He uses it now to boil the water for his ramen noodles and instant coffee and he loves it!

The only thing is he says it takes a while to boil the water and maybe doing it by stove is faster than this kettle. It also doesn't keep the water hot long after it boils. It's good for him because there is only the plug and on/off switch so his technophobe mother can use it without freaking out :D

Good item for the price. Stainless steel helps prevent the plastic taste of water like the plastic kettles and doesn't leave residue like glass kettles after a while :)

-Water indication level when you open the top and look on the inside, there are rims indicating the minimum and maximum and something in between also.

-The Kettle detaches from the heater that gets plugged in at the bottom.

-Its very lightweight but it gets the job done. Once water is boiled, it shuts itself off.

Hi all,

For years I have warmed up water for instant coffee and tea bags in the microwave. After seeing a similar, but larger, kettle that our son had, we decided to give this a try. It heats a cup of water to boiling in the same time as the microwave and we don't have to reach up to get the cup out of the microwave a plus since both of us are not tall. The auto-cutoff works as advertised. I recommend it without reservation.

Honest reviews on Brentwood 1.2L SS Cordless Tea Kettle Brushed

Will this water ever stop tasting like plastic? After six weeks of boiling water twice daily in the Brentwood tea kettle, it still tastes like plastic.Thinking it had to be from condensing water dripping down from the inside of the plastic cover, I tried leaving the cover open and blocking it with a china teapot lid. No luck, the boiled water still tastes like plastic, not my favorite flavor!

I had an aroma tea kettle of similar design which worked great and produced water flavored water, but it died suddenly after only a year of use. So I thought I would try a different brand and bought the Brentwood version.

If you want boiling water for washing your dirty socks, the Brentwood is for you;the toxic flavor may help kill the cooties in your socks, too. But for drinking or cooking, forget about it!

The kettle was a replacement for a plastic kind that I had used previously. After my "old" kettle broke down (the water level window popped off) I had decided to aim for something a bit better built without any windows or weaknesses where water could eventually find its way through.

Picked this kettle as it seemed to fit the criteria. No plastic cheap viewing window, won't break easily if dropped (not tested) unlike the glass kettle(s) and reviews seem favorable. Bought the kettle and put it to use as soon as it arrived on June 23rd 2011 (literally minutes after it arrived I had washed it, boiled one max fill and poured it down the drain to prep the kettle).

It has been used on daily bases (multiple times) up until about 3 days ago when I noticed that kettle is displaying curious symptoms, namely I will turn the kettle on and it would not boil water until I turn it off and then on again. Also sometimes it will start to boil the water but then cut out half way through or turn on and off in random cycles. It is still usable, simple turn off and on usually fixes the problem and kettle boils the water as expected.

It has lasted Almost 10 months without any issues, no spills, no leaks and nothing broke off (yet!). For the price I'd say it served it's purpose well enough although product life expectancy might be something to be longed for in this case. Having said that I am giving this product 4 stars out of 5. Others might have had better luck with their orders of this product however, so I would recommend basing your decision on more than one review.

UPDATE (December 3rd 2012): It has been almost a year and a half since I bought this kettle so I believe I can comment on it's performance and life-expectancy a bit better. Since the kettle is still operational (with occasional glitches described above) I have upgraded the rating to full 5 stars.

The kettle still works as well as it did when I wrote the original review. An occasional mishap when the kettle fails to turn on or cuts out during the use before it finishes the job it has survived through is not enough of an issue. It's more of a nuisance that I have learnt to accept. The kettle works as well as expected for a product that was designed by an imperfect being (a human I hope?).

The upgrade of the rating is due to the simple fact that the kettle has not developed any additional issues (no leaks, no broken parts or bits missing) ,it looks exactly as it did when it arrived 12.5 months ago (maybe not as clean I'll admit, since I can never get into little nooks an crannies around the handle).

UPDATE (March 15th 2013): A curious development with the kettle. The issue that I had described before where it would fail to turn on or it would turn off too early etc. has now vanished. Kettle is still performing as when it was when we first got it which actually amazes me as I am one of those people that think companies nowadays tend to design their products to fail within a certain period of time and therefore make us buy products more frequently. The kettle did not develop any new issues after being used every day on average about 4 times (sometimes more often). If I HAD to pick one thing to complain about I'd say that the base is too light which means that the heavy duty cable will move it about depending on how you have it positioned. Obviously this is picking at straws so to say, honestly it has lasted longer than any kettle I've used before (and I've used a few back in the UK). This one's definitely recommended if you want something that will last you.

I researched extensively portable AC/heaters prior to buying this one. It has GREAT features & controls. The AC performs fantastically without worrying about water leakage, as you do with most portable AC units (in addition to reading many reviews from other owners, I know from experience). Dual hoses are the BEST for outstanding AC performance, not needed at all for heating (so, you just disconnect). I was gravely disappointed in the heater when it got cool enough to need one. When I called customer service, I discovered that the heat is provided by a small "heat strip" rather than a "heat pump" as displayed on the mfr's webpage. As I told customer service, "I can exhale warmer air than this unit puts out." Customer service is "wishy-washy" at best (dealing with Carlos); however, the supervisor/manager offered to exchange for a different model or refund my money. I am currently reviewing my options.

Two stars represent the poor heater performance when ads displayed 12K BTUs for both AC/heat not true. The stars also include the poor handling of my product claim by Carlos.

If you're looking for a great AC unit, I would highly recommend this unit. But don't count on the heater to perform at all. Other Midea models that have better heaters only use one exhaust hose. All one-hose models, regardless of brand, are not efficient & cause a "vacuum effect" rather than circulating air; thus, I would NOT recommend. Don't take my word for it, research the comparisons of 2-hose vs 1-hose models for yourself.

If you look carefully at the pictures, there are actually two or three different items depicted. One is a 2.5 ft brush made of white plastic, the other two show a metal one that is perhaps longer and skinnier. I received the 2.5 ft white plastic one.

I have old metal radiators in our brownstone apartment. This works better than anything else I have tried to get the dust out. It condenses down enough to slide in (at least from the top, it isn't skinny enough to get in from the sides), but it is 'bushy' enough to expand into the open slots as it goes down and knock the dust out.

I'm a little worried about the durability (the wire near the handle is already getting a bit too flexible after one round of cleaning 5 radiators), but honestly, I was desperate enough that I would have paid this price even if I had known the brush wouldn't last forever.

The dust comes off the brush easily enough when you wash it.

Works great for cleaning radiators. Bend it in any shape. Very sturdy. Be sure to have a vacuum running while using it so the dust coming out isn't going back in.

Works even better as toilet-paper substitute!

This is a great brush. I wasn't able to find anything similar at Lowe's/HD and this got in between the radiator slats great. The only thing is that it could stand to be a bit more sturdy and less flexible. Some flexibility is good but it does kink if it goes in really tight places. But you can hold it down further and it will still work. I was just so happy to find it that I dealt with it. I do think they should combine shipping though and not charge a completely additional fee when they could both fit in the same box and theyt are quite light. I would buy more if it weren't for that.
