Works really well. Built into a bathroom wall. It is super quite. I think it would heat/cool a larger space than it says. I love the energy saver function where the fan turns off also until needed. The install kit that comes with it is complete but you do need a wall sleeve.

I purchased this product to heat and cool a small well insulated office space of approximately 160 square feet. It's supposed to heat 350 square feet. During the summer months I was quite pleased with the cooling. When I needed heat this fall I was greatly disappointed. The air from the front grill is barely warm. It took an hour and forty-five minutes to raise the room temperature from fifty-five degrees to sixty-five degrees. When I called Frigidaire's Customer Service I was told this unit was only to be used as a "supplemental heat source". Meaning I had to have a primary heat source to heat the room before this Frigidaire heater would do any good. Nothing in the advertising information says anything about this being a "supplemental heat source". Instead of purchasing this product, go to Walmart and buy a room air conditioner for $150 and two small "milkhouse" electric heaters for $40.00 each. Even one 1800 watt "milkhouse" heater will put out more heat than the Frigidaire and be much cheaper to operate.

I would not recommend purchasing this product.

I was surprised that the unit was in such great condition (it still had all of it's original display stickers and everything) at the price I received it for about half of what Sears was charging online.

We were searching for a wall unit for a bakery. After a lot of searching and having to narrow down our search to a 110v machine, this was a great choice! It runs quietly and keeps our 20 x 20 room quite comfortable. If you are looking for a 110v ac and heater, you really can't go wrong.

I paid a contractor to remove my old unit, the only source of heat in the condo. He installed the Frigidaire and everything but the heat works. The heat comes on for two minutes, then shuts off, all the lights start blinking and it beeps until I shut it down. I've been on the phone with Frigidaire, who state that the unit is unfixable and also that they cannot find any Frigidaire contractor to replace it. Therefore, the only option is that they will refund my money for the purchase but not my installation costs. In the meantime, it has been a week and a half.....I have no heat. I have to find the serial number stickers on the unit to return with my receipt to Frigidaire in order to "start" the refund process. (my contractor will have to come back over to do this and I will have to pay him again.) I'm very upset and now will not purchase anything frigidaire again.

I purchased the Gran Maestria on April 20th and the first one would not work... I received a loaner (the Pixie) after waiting a week and received another Gran Maestria in about 3 weeks... it worked but had several unaccepted scratches on it and I sent it back for another one. I was told that it was at the discretion of the company to send me a refurbished unit. I received another unscratched unit and had it for 3 days and the unit made a loud pop and smoke came out of it and now it does not work. I have purchased over a hundred dollars in coffee and will try this experiment one more time before asking for my money back... the service people were very nice and apologized for my inconvenience but I want a machine that works...

I like the Nespresso System you have to join the "club" and the coffee is not the cheapest but it is great quality and the customer service is outstanding. I have had a couple of sleeves of coffee capsules come bent Nespresso exchanged them for free and had them to my door the next day.

The machine itself is great. It is made aluminum much higher quality that the more plastic Nespresso models. I like the fact hat you can easily change the volume of hot water going into your shot on the fly with other machines you can program to a volume, but that is about it. Having the frother right there is nice, the cup warmer is a bit of a gimmick but impresses friends and family. The machine is made in Switzerland and the fit and finish are first class. It is rock solid and after using it every day for the last 4 months I have yet to have any issues.

Overall you get what you pay for and this is a nice, no mess, quality machine. Just know what you are getting into with the Nespresso coffee universe...

I'm back from a recent trip to Italy where I drank cappuccinos nearly all day long. I have a Starbucks Barista, but it takes too long to make cappuccinos and clean up. The Nespresso machines make nice drinks that are quick and easy.

I read a lot about the Maestria (and other Nespresso machines) being DOA. Well, mine was too. It made all the right noises, just didn't pump water. I figured the pump wasn't primed so I ran the descaling procedure a couple times and pumped a lot of water through the cup heater. Then I put it on the regular, espresso-making cycle and hit the luongo button several times. Each time the pump sounded a little different until finally the water made it out of the nozzle. So if your Maestria makes a pump sound but doesn't pump water, don't get upset, just be a little patient and do what I did.

It takes only 30 seconds for the machine to come up to temperature (lights on front stop blinking) after the power is turned on. That's how long it takes me to get a cup ready. After that, you can make espressos one after another without delay. This machine would work well for entertaining a lot of people. The temperature of the espressos and cappiccinos it makes is good. If you want a really, really hot temperature you might be disappointed. Yesterday I want to a Nespresso outlet in Costa Mesa California. The espresso I had there was much hotter (too hot in my opinion). The people working said the machines are used constantly and are hotter than normal home use.

The cup heater on the left side of the machine shoots a stream of hot water inside an inverted cup. The water drains into the drip tray. It has limited usefulness since it only works on very small cups. It's OK for espresso cups, but won't work with most cappuccino cups. The problem is that 3 switches on the Nespresso need to be pressed at the same time by the rim of the cup. But only the smallest diameter cups will press the switches. If the cup diameter is more than about 2.25 inches, it won't press all 3 switches. I've been warming my cups by filling them with a luongo shot of hot water. That way both the cup and the machine gets pre heated and primed. I wish they would have left off the cup warmer and made the footprint smaller.

The Aeroccino 4 froths the milk really well. You fill the cup up to the "Max" mark (which is a little difficult to see in poor light) and press the "on" button. There are 4 settings, cold frothed milk, warm milk, warm milk with loose froth (perfect for lattes), and warm milk with dense froth (perfect for cappuccinos). There is a circular wire wisk inside the Aeroccino 4 that sticks to the bottom on a small post by a magnet. It's really easy to remove and install. The wisk is spun quickly with a magnet under the cup. The milk doesn't burn since the inside of the cup has a non-stick coating. It's really easy to clean too. It's dishwasher safe, but it's just as easy to wipe out with a sponge. Advantages the Aeroccino 4 has over a steam wand are: 1. you can make cold frothed mild for cold drinks, 2. it is much quieter. Advantages of the steam wand are: 1. you can make much more frothed milk if you are making many drinks at once (the Aeroccino 4 is only good for about 2 drinks per batch), 2. you can make frothed milk much hotter).

The Aeroccino 4 is really quick and nearly silent too. It takes only about 90 seconds to make enough frothed milk for one or two lattes or cappuccinos. I found the temperature to be fine, but if you want really hot drinks you might be disappointed.

I really wanted to get the Maestria (not Gran), but I found a new Gran Maestria in Titanium color (a medium gray color) from a liquidator for half price. It was probably a return or store model. The box was a bit thrashed, but all the parts were present and accounted for.

I was surprised how small the unit looked on my kitchen counter. It's low enough to fit easily under my wall cabinets (which are 18.5 inches high) even with enough room to lift the capsule lever. He lever requires about 17.5 inches to open fully. The footprint is a bit big, so measure first if you're space limited. The footprint of the Maestria would be much smaller.

The construction and build quality is extremely nice. Most of the machine is cast aluminum with a nice paint job. The rocker-type power switch on the back and the two dials on the front have a silky smooth feel and look great. The grates that the cup rests on are chrome plated steel, not plastic like most. The machine rests on 3 small, rubber feet. When the pump is on, there is some noise, but not overly loud or obnoxious and the machine does not vibrate or walk around on the counter.

The two knobs on the front of the machine control the volume of each shot. The one on the left goes from 0.8oz 2oz and the one of the right from 2.35oz 5oz. I was skeptical how accurate these were, and I had read that the shot size wasn't consistent. So I tested the accuracy and consistency. After a lot of testingI found the shot sizes to be extremely consistent (within 1ml, or 0.03oz), and the volume was within 10% of the volumes stated on the Nespresso operator's manual for each setting.

The water tank is large enough that you don't have to fill it often. I suspect the Maestria with the steam wand uses more water. The tank is easy to remove and install. The used capsule holder and drip tray are also nicely sized for daily use without the need for constant emptying.

It looks like there is a cable routing feature to shorten the length of the power cable, but I can't figure out how it works. The cable is too thick to route around the tortuous path. So I coiled the cable up behind the machine and used cable ties.

Overall a really nice machine. I hope that helps.

Honest reviews on Nespresso C520 Gran Maestria Espresso Maker, Titanium

I purchased this for my wife's birthday. She looks just like the woman on the Nespresso commercial, right...

The delivery from Amazon was fantastic, as usual, with Prime...

She unpacked the box, read the instructions, then filled the water reservoir. Unfortunately, when she tried to do the initial pump prime, nothing happened. She called the Nespresso help line. They were very helpful, but to make a long story short, her new machine is being shipped back to their repair center for repair.

We're both disappointed. Nespresso can redeem themselves with a quick turnaround, but if she has to wait weeks for a functioning machine... Well, we'll see.

I'm happy to report that we received the packing crate for the product return the next day. Packing the machine was easy. We dropped the package at the UPS store down the street that afternoon. The repaired machine was back at our home within 3 business days in perfect working condition.

The quality of the coffees that we've made have been excellent and have exceeded our expectations. I changed my rating to 4 stars, not 5, reflecting our initial DOA experience.

We really wanted this espresso maker to work. We had tried a Nespresso machine in our hotel room last year and loved the taste and convenience. Unfortunately, this machine was a problem right out of the box. We read all the directions, prepped the unit and pushed the button. There was a hum and then it stopped. No water came out. We tried several more times. Back to the directions. We tried the so-called descaling process and found that the cup warmer worked but still no water for espresso. We tried a couple more times. No water, no espresso.

After about an hour of reading and rereading directions, I called the Nespresso club hotline. As soon as I explained the problem, the woman knew exactly what was wrong--the pump was too tight. She said that this was a fairly common problem with this particular model. The only way to fix it was to send it back to the factory, a process that would take at least three to four weeks when factoring in shipping time back and forth.

I asked her why Nespresso had not tested this machine at the factory before sending it out for sale. Since the machine does not work at all, the problem would have been evident as soon as it was turned on. I was told that the problem does not affect every espresso maker so the company has decided to allow customers to discover which ones are faulty on their own, and then deal with it only when the customers call to complain. In other words, Nespresso wants to save itself time and money by not checking the machines it sells, but thinks nothing of wasting the time and money of customers who trust that they are buying working machines. This is completely unacceptable for any company selling a product to the public, let alone one charging $700 for an espresso machine.

I understand that there may be occasionally a lemon or two, but this problem with the pump is common enough that Nespresso is aware of it and still takes no action to rectify the problem or warn customers. We would never have bought this machine if we had known about this issue. Our free time is scarce and we wasted a good bit of it this morning trying to get this machine to work. After calling Nespresso, I then had to call Amazon to arrange for a return and repack the machine in the box.

I told an Amazon representative about our experience and suggested that Amazon either stop carrying this product or put a note explaining this problem on its website so customers can decide whether to take their chances.

As for us, we will not be buying from Nespresso again even though we do like the coffee. There are too many other companies out there that respect their customers for us to waste any more money, time, or energy on Nespresso.

Picked one up from Walmart, its very simple and easy to use, with directional heat. The fan isn't too loud, but when it turns on when in auto mode, it has a pronounced click. Having a digital temperature setting is good, but I don't think it actually monitors correctly. Close enough to keep us warm at night while not running constantly. Mine actually has the add on swivel base (Model BCH4175-WM1-115) which operates silent and smooth. I recommend the swivel one if you can find one.

Performed as advertised. Was fairly easy to install into an existing wall. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The heater does make a little bit of an annoying whining noise when it runs, but you get used to it quickly, I only notice it if it runs at night when everything else is quite. Puts out more than enough heat for the average sized full bath.

Bought it for a small bathroom and it really works great to heat it up before showering. It was purchased to replace a small portable heater that sat on the floor. Compared to that, it's relatively quiet and I love the convenience of not having the portable sitting in my way!

This was a replacement for a similar model installed during a bath remodel 10 years ago. This was the right model...as confirmed on phone with Qmark before I ordered it. (The grill looked slightly different, as well as model number.) Best of all, I saved an electrician's bill by installing myself. First attempt...it went on....then an hour later wasn't working. Connections looked correct....but I disassembled the two wires and reconnected...and it's perfect. (Wires somehow got loose in the connectors on my first attempt.) Good product...best price.

I ordered this heater for my parents who were taking a 6 week trip to Europe. My mum LOVED it! None of the hotels she stayed in had a jug to heat water so she used it almost daily. It lasted her the whole trip for heating water for tea in the morning. It heated water super quick and it's tiny and easy to carry and comes with a neat wee drawstring bag to carry it in. She's still using it at work to heat her water for tea in the office. She highly recommends it. Thanks!

I've owned two of these. The first one I dropped and it stopped working. Ok, my fault. The second I heated 4 cups of water on an international trip (220 Volt) and was very careful with it, especially keeping the heating coil immersed while plugged into the electricity. I went to heat a 5th cup of water and guess what?....no longer working. I bought it especially for the international voltage feature. From my experience, I cannot recommend this product.

I did not check if it worked here. I took it on a intl trip, but it did not work at all.

Honest reviews on Water Heater Portable Coffee Immersion Dual Voltage Beverage Heat

I read reviews that said it did not work and I still took my chances and ordered the water heater at ALSAMAUSA and hoped it will work for me but sure enough the water heater was dead on arrival. I used immersion heater before and I know how to follow instructions so that it was definitely DOA. I returned the item but wasted my money for shipping and return postage ($5.70+$5.41). The seller received my water heater few days ago and I'm still waiting for my refund. What a wast of time and money.

UPDATE: I filed A-to-z Guarantee claim to Amazon and they refunded the item price and shipping so that my loss was limited to the cost for the return shipping (postage + certified mail = $5.41).

Pro: Works on either 110 or 220 volts, without manually switching the heater.

Con: (Minor) 110 volt heating affords only 125 watts of heating power, bringing a large cup of cool water to a simmer in twelve to 14 minutes.

Pro: On 220 volts, other conditions the same as above, simmer is reached in about three minutes due to 500 watts heating power.

Pro: Solid construction, plug is not cheap, wire appeared well-insulated, but not unduly stiff.

Con: No cup cliff, although this is not a grievous error...

My unit quit working mid-tea cup heating, and I was dissatisfied because I thought I had only had it about six months. Amazon showed me that I received it about 25 months ago. Use was generally light, mainly onboard cruise ships, with both 110 and 220 volts used. Owned and used a bit over two years, but probably not over about 150 times, although the unit has likely traveled 50,000 miles and suffered a few light knocks, but no rough handling.

Performance and calendar service life = Five stars. Roughly 150 uses until failure = Three stars.

OVERALL: Four Stars. Will buy again.

I bought this after my Adagio Teas triniTea Electric 32-Ounce Tea Maker began deteriorating after about a year. I've been using the Cuisinart for about two weeks now, and I really like it compared to the Adagio maker. Below are my list of pros and cons (when comparing this to the Adagio.)

THE GOOD:

The Cuisinart tea maker is a very sturdy device (the kind Cuisinart is known for.) The carafe is very good, the spout does not dribble when it pours, and all of the parts seem to be made quite well. It is also quite easy to use; reading the directions are probably a minor necessity, but once you get the quick hang of it, it is very easy to use. Fill your carafe and steeper. (b) Turn on and program the desired water temperature. (c) When that is reached and the machine beeps, lower the stepper (with a twist of the dial) and program the steeping time. (d) Once that time is reached and the machine beeps, bring the steeper back up and pour your cup. Lastly, I like that the "keep warm" feature not only keeps the tea at your selected temperature, but stops after 30 minutes (keeping in mind that the carafe still holds the heat for another 45 or so minutes, even when the burner is off).

THE BAD:

For all that, there are a few minor annoyances. First, unlike the Trinitea, which does everything for you (like a coffee maker), this machine requires a fair amount of manual attention when your tea is brewing. That is, the steeper doesn't extend and retract by itself, but relies on you to manually adjust it. This is only a minor annoyance, but it does mean that you can basically get the same results with buying an electronic kettle and an Adagio Teas 16-Ounce Ingenuitea Teapot, keeping the time yourself. (It also means that I can't just turn the machine on and do other things while it is brewing.) Secondly, while I love the fact that the "keep warm" feature shuts off automatically after a certain time, I'd love it if we had the option to choose how much time we wanted it to stay on for. I take my time with my tea, and 30 minutes is JUST too short for me to enjoy my customary 3 cups without having to microwave the last of them. Again, not a big deal, but something to consider. (Of course, the Trinitea nokt only doesn't have an automatic shut off feature, but the "keep warm" setting should read "keep luke warm" because that's what it does. So I can't complain too much about the Cuisinart.)

So, if you are considering a tea maker, I would strongly recommend this over the Trinitea (which several people have noted breaks down after a fairly short time.) This machine is sturdier, makes tea that is every bit as good, and does a good job of keeping it warm (for at least 30 minutes) after it is steeped. But just be advised that this is not an "automatic" machine that you can turn on and let do its thing; it does require manual adjustments of the steeper when it is making your tea. If money is an issue, you might just consider getting an electric kettle and a cheaper Adagio Teas 16-Ounce Ingenuitea Teapot and controlling the time and temperature yourself. But if you can spend very-low-triple-digits on a machine, this is a really good buy.

FINAL UPDATE 6/20/2013: The replacement I was sent by Cuisinart died after eight months, just like its predecessor. The unit was kept clean, the base dry and it handled with care. I used it once about 5-6 times a week, so it's not as though it was being used all day every day. I love the looks the unit and the ability to heat water to different temperatures, but I am now in the market for another electric kettle. A kettle that costs over $100 should last longer than eight months...

UPDATE 10/24/2012: After approximately eight months of consistent usage, the kettle shorted out. When plugged in, all the lights flashed and I was unable to select any of the options. I'd say that it was used about 1-2 times a day for about eight months. While used frequently, it wasn't abused in any way. I kept it reasonably dry on the outside and no dropping/rough handling.

This product has a three year warranty. So, I called Cuisinart and paid ten bucks for them to send me a new one. And, of course, I had to ship the old one back. I will use the brand new one and update this review periodically. Hopefully I just got a bit of a bum unit the first time...Nevertheless, doesn't inspire much confidence as this was a new model on the market when I purchased it.

And to the person who asked: Yes, it is BPA free. :)

ORIGINAL REVIEW: It's a little embarrassing, but as an avid tea drinker (around 4 cups a day), this is my first electric kettle. After my trusty stove-top kettle stopped whistling and found fit to spit scolding water, I was in the market for a new one. I wanted an electric kettle for the safety features and convenience. I searched online for a kettle made of quality materials (glass, stainless steel, and BPA-free). And since I mainly drink green, yerba mate and white teas, I became increasingly sold on the new variable temperature options. Not necessary to make a good cup of tea, but it sure does make the process fool-proof.

Armed with research, I went to my local Bed, Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon (which I would recommend if you have one in your area since my kettle came to One-hundred and three dollars, about twenty-six dollars cheaper than the current advertised price on Amazon). In the end, it came down to this kettle and the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker. At first glance, you would think this to be a poor substitute for the Breville, but side-by-side, the quality of the construction seems equal. Also, since this kettle has a manual steeping basket, it has fewer automated parts and is less likely to break down. Plus, it comes with a separate lid that removes the steeping mechanism, should you wish.

At first, it took me a couple of minutes to figure out the steeping mechanism and lid. Depositing the loose leaf tea was awkward the first couple of times. It is dishwasher safe and I found cleaning it by hand to be a snap. That said, I do have small hands and I know one of the reviewers indicated it was hard with arthritis, which I can imagine, but not speak to personally.

I got this a week ago and I'm loving it. However, I can't speak to the longevity of it, but I will periodically update this review.

One star off for the slightly awkward steeping mechanism. Otherwise, close to perfect.

Best Deals on Cuisinart TEA-100 PerfecTemp Programmable Tea Steeper and Kettle

I use to drink coffee where brewing is pretty standard. I always loved teas but could not make it taste good every time because teas are far more difficult to brew properly. And I researched buying an iced tea maker but couldn't find one without problems. This tea maker makes both hot and iced teas to perfection.

At first, I thought this was a cheaper version of the other steeper that sells for around $240. But, I was glad to see that this has fewer moving parts and, therefore, less likely to break down. The water heats rapidly and it keeps the correct temperature for the entire steeping time.

Read directions carefully-they are a little confusing. And it's difficult to spoon loose tea in, get used tea out, and to clean strainer because of poor design. There is some plastic on the tea steeping mechanism which comes in contact with the hot water, but, there is no aftertaste. The metal at the bottom of pot does become permanently discolored but does not seem to interfere with taste. The product just came out at the end of 2011 so there has not been enough time to determine durability.

But, it does what it says. I am drinking much more tea and enjoying it.

Honest reviews on Cuisinart TEA-100 PerfecTemp Programmable Tea Steeper and Kettle

I do like the Kettle but there are a few problems with it. As someone else has mentioned already, it is difficult to clean out the tea infuser. The shaft that runs through the middle of it makes it very hard to reach down to the bottom of the infuser to clean out the remains of the tea leaves. The holes in the infuser are very small, so trying to run water in reverse does not work. The lid for the infuser gets in the way when you put the tea leaves in. It would be better if the infuser detached from the shaft and lid so that you would have clear access to the interior of the infuser. The water temperature runs 10 degrees cooler than it is suppose to be. I set the kettle for the oolong temp (190) and the water measured with two different thermometers read 180. Using the herbal tea setting(200), the water was 190, again 10 degrees cooler than it is suppose to be. Overall, I like the kettle. You just have to get used to working around its deficiencies.

First impression: Compact, stylish, looks more expensive than it really is. Used one time, did have some confusing moments at first on how to turn, lower, raise steeping apparatus. Need to pay attention to complete part names as they are similar. Most impressed with the keep warm cycle. It does just that, keeps tea very warm. Will update as used. BTW: Tea is very, very good!

Ordered three as gifts for people on Pine Ridge Reservation who desperately needed heaters to keep warm. They didn't heat well to begin with. None of the heaters were used full-time, or during the day, and certainly not overnight. In addition, the heaters went to different people. After just over a month's use all three began to smoke and the constant smell made the owners afraid to use them. This purchase was a major disappointment as well as a TOTAL waste of money. They certainly weren't inexpensive. The only reason one star was given is because the system forces one to rate items. Had I been able to give no stars, I would have.

This is just what I was looking for. I have a workbench in my garage, and this small heater works well for me since it runs on 110 volts. I did not want to go to the trouble to install a 220 plug. The control knobs, and the housing of this heater is top quality.

Should be called a foot warmer not a shop heater. Does not produce very much heat. Have a ceramic heater that produces three times or more of heat output.

When I turned it on my 12 x 14 home office was a chilly 64 degrees F, in 30 minutes it was a toasty 69 degrees F. I did not find the noise very loud (similar to a hard drive) and overall am VERY satisfied. The thermostat seems to work OK, but I can see I'll have to tweak it. I would recommend this little beauty to anybody.

I work in an office, and I'm ashamed to say that my tootsies get cold pretty frequently to mitigate that problem, I could have bought any one of a thousand little heaters that are all nice and contoured, with little pictures of fans on them, but when I came across this bad boy, I knew instantly that this is what I needed This all-metal box is the perfect thing to keep my delicate little toes at a perfect temperature while allowing me to salvage the maximum amount of dignity.
