Unless the logs are used in a dark room you can't see any glow in them at all. The picture used to promote the product is not at all what it looks like if there is any light in the room, even a dim one. The "crackling" sound is more like broken springs than the sound of real burning logs.
I am VERY disappointed in this Duraflame product and unless this one happens to be defective, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!Quality of product is poor! It is not one of China's better efforts! When attaching leg the thin plastic cracked and broke and I was forced to super glue that leg to the log set! Maybe I was expecting at least a little more for the price! If you purchase this product be prepared to repair or replace!

Zojirushi CD-WBC40 Micom 4-Liter Electric Water Boiler and Warmer Review

Who spends money on fancy water heaters? People who like to have fine control over the brewing of their tea. Also, probably some folks who like to have unusual gadgets so they can rub it in the faces of those who are less awesome, but for the sake of this review let's pretend you're not one of those people.
This particular Zojirushi holds enough water for 2-3 people to drink throughout the day. It boils the water first -this takes about 15-20 minutes -and then allows it to cool to one of four "keep warm" temperatures. The "keep warm" presets of 208, 195, 175, and 140 are perfect for most kinds of tea, cup o' noodles, baby bottles, and various kinds of water torture on intrusive guests.
The magnetic break-away cord is a fantastic feature that demonstrates Zojirushi's attention to detail. When your mother decides to rearrange your kitchen without warning, you can rest assured that the Zojirushi will be safe from electrical mishaps. Don't ask how I know this.
Other safety features include an automatic shut-down when it runs out of water, a dispenser that will not dispense until you "unlock" it by pressing a button, and a "steam-save" design that limits the amount of steam being vomited into your kitchen. This last feature is especially nice for those of us with wall cabinets extending over the counter. I like to steam my food on the stove, not while it's in storage, thanks.
This device is so simple to use that even my husband can do it. That said, due to the charming Engrish in the instruction book, at first I was under the impression that the timer existed to shut down the machine. I realized later that either my math skills were terrible, or in reality the timer was designed to start it up. Ignore the fact that I ended that sentence with a preposition. The point still stands. The good news is that having a timed start-up is more useful to me than a timed shut-down, so for once I was glad to discover further evidence that I am an idiot.
I had one concern prior to purchase. Would teapots fit under the dispenser? I am pleased to report that they can, despite the best efforts of the Zojirushi photographers to make it look like the spout is designed to work with cups alone. If you have an epic teapot that serves 300, you might have a problem getting it up under there. But a normal pot? Rock on.
This little device is now my favorite appliance next to the washing machine. Because as much as I love tea, I like clean underwear better.

Update 1: It's now been over a year since I got my Zojirushi, and I am pleased to report that it still works like it's new. I have cleaned it twice with Zojirushi's cleaner -sold in packets here on Amazon -despite it never really looking like it needed cleaning at all. I did it simply because the company recommended it. I'm a follower like that. The Zojirushi has survived a move, three extreme power surges, and a switch to mineral-heavy tap water. I'm starting to wish Zojirushi had made my own body. I mean, think of the time I could save if I only had to be cleaned up twice a year! And I didn't survive the move in nearly as good a condition. Tsk. At least I'm not old enough for power surges yet.
--
Update 2: And now we're going on 2.5 years of ownership. It's survived a second move, as well as an unfortunate mishap that left its inner container discolored orange. No, you may not have the hilarious but humiliating details. The official cleaning packets I mentioned in my previous update saved the day, so it's good as new again. (Use the keywords "ZOJIRUSHI INNER CONTAINER CLEANER" here on Amazon to find a box of the packets. You only need one packet per cleaning job.) I'm pleased to report that over the years the Zojirushi has not slowed down, started making odd noises, or in any other way complained. Best $125 ever spent, outside that marriage license thing. I think.
Bottom line? The product is so darn good at what it does, that we are willing to forgive the energy consumption cost.
The inside is stainless steel with a Teflon-like coating. There will be a plastic smell the first time you use it and I'm guessing it's coming from the spout, but don't worry. After draining it a few times (I had to dump out 5 liters of hot water), the smell will go away. I was a little bit worried about the Teflon, since I am not a big fan of eating the stuff, but there's no reason for you to ever even put your hand inside this thing as you're supposed to dump some citric acid in it and let it clean itself. No scratches, no problem. The coating is there to keep mineral buildup from occurring.
The water level indicator is super cool on this thing and it will tell you how much water is in the pot or if you need to refill it. There's a timer so that you can set it for six to ten hours later, which is handy if you want to wake up and use it. It doesn't take long to boil at all -usually something along the lines of 30 minutes. It does, however, take a long time to cool down to the lower temperatures, so if you're using this for green tea, you may want to set it to boil six hours after you go to sleep instead of eight or ten.
It swivels, so you can angle it so the steam isn't pointed at your cabinets while it's on. It will shut off automatically if there's no water in the pot and it has a few nice features such as lowering the temperature before boiling so there's less steam coming out of it. It's a handy little product and I totally recommend getting the larger sized ones because once you have it, you'll use it a lot more than you think you will.
The magnetic plug is so convenient. It just pops on. No pushing at all. Also, the unit swivels too which is kinda cool. The color is nothing like the picture shows. It's more of a beige and cream. Very attractive. The dispenser is up high so you can put a very large mug underneath. Very convenient! There is a window on the front so you can watch the water level and fill when running low. There are three temp settings: 175, 195, and 208. The other thing I really like is the unlock feature. You have to push the unlock button before you can dispense the hot water. Very smart for households with small children who could burn themselves with the water. Another cute feature is the melody it plays when the water has heated up (whenever you fill it). It also has a timer so if you don't want to leave it plugged in overnight, you can set the timer and it will heat your water in the morning so it's ready when you get up. We use it for tea, oatmeal, instant coffee, hot chocolate, grits, etc. VERY VERY CONVENIENT!!! We love this machine! Not one negative complaint!
The fit and finish is pleasing, and I do not detect any hint of plastic taste--which I have detected in a few other boilers and coffee makers. I have used it for drip coffee and press coffee on both the 208 and 195 F settings. I like the flavor at 195 better than at 208. I use light-medium roast coffee, I think the higher temp would be fine with a darker roast.
There are a few things buyers should know which I have not seen in the reviews so far.
At least one reviewer said it took 15 minutes to reach a boil. With the unit filled with 4 liters of water, it took 35 minutes. Water from our tap is 72-75 F, and we are 1000+ above sea level. It took another 15 minutes to reduce the temperature to 195. The times increased to 45 minutes to boil and 60 minutes to reach 195 when we used filtered water from the refrigerator.
I fill the unit at night and plug it in so that I have hot water the next morning for coffee.
By the way the instructions are very clear about the time it takes to get your hot water to the correct standing temperature. They also recommend dispensing one cup before using the water as the temperature will be lower than the stand temperature--depending on the time the water has been standing. I found this to be accurate based on a digital probe thermometer. The first cup drawn was below 190; the second cup registered a bit under 195 (at the stand temperature set to 195).
I do not see any of this as being negatives for the product. It does seem to be counter to a few of the reviews on this site. With these types of products, I guess it is helpful to let users know what your ambient temperature, altitude, water temperature, and water volume is. I suppose it also would help to know the PPM of the water used. All of these affect boiling temperatures and time to boil.
Ambient room temp: 73 F
Water Temp: 74 F
Water particulates: 119 PPM
Altitude: 1023 ft above sea level
Barometric pressure: 29.9
The unit instructions state that it is able to change the standing temp at 208 to assure the unit does not continuously boil at higher altitudes. That does not apply at our relatively low altitude.

Positive reviews are 100% correct regarding this product. We can't live without it. I do have one thing to say, though. Since it is not a thermal pot, it uses approx 90 watts to maintain a constant water temperature. I bought an International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor here on Amazon and this was the first product that I measured. My plugged in laptop only generated 40 watts of power....half of what this pot generates in standby mode. It comes in at 731 watts to boil water (my toaster takes 457 watts). We use the timer feature at night, but keep it on all day. So, figuring 16 hours of standby use and throwing in an average of three boils a day, we figure that it costs approx $12-15 per month to operate. We COULD take it off standby mode when not in use, but then it takes longer to boil....catch 22.Bottom line? The product is so darn good at what it does, that we are willing to forgive the energy consumption cost.

I'm a big green tea drinker. I was stuck with microwaving my water and trying to guess the temperature. This usually ended up with me getting either lukewarm tea or yellow, disgusting tea. I now do not have that problem with this neat little contraption! The inside is stainless steel with a Teflon-like coating. Honest reviews on Zojirushi CD-WBC40 Micom 4-Liter Electric Water Boiler and Warmer
After much research looking for a perfect boiler for my husband and me, I came upon this one. With only a handful of reviews, I was a little reluctant to buy it. But the description was just what I was looking for. I was also reluctant because I thought it looked a funny shade of pink in the photo and wasn't crazy about that color. But I ordered it anyway, thinking I could return it if we didn't like it. Upon opening it Christmas morning, my husband filled it with water and plugged it in. We have been using it nonstop ever since! When the water level gets low, we just refill it, let it reheat, and have another 4 liters of hot water in just a few minutes. We keep it plugged in day and night so the water is always ready! Love it!The magnetic plug is so convenient. It just pops on. No pushing at all. Also, the unit swivels too which is kinda cool. I purchased the CDWBC40 (4 liter) version. I searched for a boiler that would stand at a preset temperature. This boiler handles that. The fit and finish is pleasing, and I do not detect any hint of plastic taste--which I have detected in a few other boilers and coffee makers. Best Sunbeam Foot Cuddler Heated Mattress Pad Deals

List Price: $47.82

As long as you understand what this product is used for, you will love it! It is just what it says it is: a foot warmer, not a full mattress pad. The measurements are missing from the item description, which is bad marketing. The Twin/Full sized pad measures about 24x34 inches and it sits on top of your mattress pad and under the top sheet. Even though it doesn't have straps that wrap around the corners of the mattress, it doesn't move around at all. It also has nice long cords for the plug in and the controller. The controller has three settings and each setting has a different color so you can tell what the setting is without having to read the printing (very handy at night). My problem is that I can't sleep if my feet are cold and I don't like wearing socks to bed, but I don't need a full electric mattress pad or blanket. This foot warmer keeps my feet warm and I fall asleep faster. It is just what I needed.
First, even on the lowest heat setting, the warmer gets so hot by the middle of the night that it is unbearable and has to be turned off. It seems not to be thermostatic. It has only 3 heat settings, not a continuously variable dial for adjusting heat.
It has no automatic shutoff.
The control to change the temperature and turn the unit off has blindingly bright lights that make my whole bedroom bright. Pushing the button successively (there is no dial) to make the unit turn off or change heat setting is VERY noisy, waking up my spouse. The control also doesn't have a flat bottom, so it won't rest in a reasonable position on the side table. The bottom is rounded for some unknown reason. No sensible person would put something like that under their pillow, so I'm not sure where the manufacturer thinks you are going to put it.
Finally, the place where the cord plugs into the warmer itself is a HUGE lump that is right in the middle of the warmer, exactly where my feet constantly hit it. Why would it have been hard to put it off the edge of the bed or off to the side of the warmer?
Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any competing product.
Update 1/2/13. The picture has been updated and now does show the correct product. I am still using my foot cuddler. It is not as warm as it once was, but it provides enough heat to keep my feet warm. I have found that any of these type of heaing products will wear out, (especially if you use them as much as I do) so I expect that I will have to buy another one soon. They never last as long as the warranty (heating pads and electric blankets). so I will have to start keeping track of the receipts, etc. (I sleep much better in the winter with the extra warmth, so I would purchase again without the warranty.) The price has gone up since I purchased my first one in December 2009. Hopefully the price will be lower in the spring.

I bought this last year and it has worked great, although I use this as a heated pet bed and not as a foot warmer. When placed under my dog's normal bed (which is about 2-3 inches thick), it provides a very soft and subtle heat that he seems to like. He is a very large dog (~85 lbs) so to buy an actual heated pad for him would have been close to $100. The only problem is the cat now sleeps in the middle of my dog's warm and cozy bed, and my dog is too polite to do anything about it so I might need to get another one. :)Honest reviews on Sunbeam Foot Cuddler Heated Mattress Pad
I love this product. I bought the twin size (because it was cheaper), even though I have a california king size bed. (I'm the only one in the bed.) I was used to sleeping with a heating pad or two. I agree that the description is lacking and it is a flat pad that goes under the sheets, but it works great for me, and I think that the twin size might work for 2 people. The only other thing that I would mention as a negative would be the place where the cord plugs into the pad creates a bump which might bother some people.Update 1/2/13. Purchased two foot cuddlers to add a little warmth in the foot area of our beds. So far, results are so-so. We pre-heat the bed on high, then turn the controller on low or sometimes medium, which we find to be more than comfortable. There are three heat settings and no auto-shut off. We agree with the reviewer who said, "The control to change the temperature and turn the unit off has blindingly bright lights that make my whole bedroom bright. Pushing the button successively (there is no dial) to make the unit turn off or change heat setting is VERY noisy, waking up my spouse. The control also doesn't have a flat bottom, so it won't rest in a reasonable position on the side table. The bottom is rounded for some unknown reason. Finally, the place where the cord plugs into the warmer itself is a HUGE lump that is right in the middle of the (bottom edge of the) warmer, exactly where my feet constantly hit it." We find these things to be somewhat annoying, but have not found any other similar product. The picture online is wrong and the description is vague. This is a rectangular pad with rounded corners, which is 45 X 24" in the twin/full size. It just lies on top of the bed. We put ours under the mattress pad and sheet. The heating wires do not extend right to the edge; instead they stop about 2-3 inches, all around, from the edge. I'm not sure how you would use this on a twin bed, as the instructions state to NOT bend the pad/wires and a twin bed is only 39" wide. It would work well for a full-sized bed. We use one on a queen-sized, as the queen version was unavailable. The one other problem we have had is that one of the pads was heating very unevenly. Almost nothing on one side, much more on the other. For that reason and the fact that it doesn't really fit a twin-sized bed, we returned it. We have kept the one we use on the queen-sized bed, will update on reliability, if needed, in the future. At this point, would probably purchase again.Tuesday, July 29, 2014

I was looking for a timer for my oil heater that also makes my hot water, during the summer we only use it for hot water 20-30 minutes a day so there was no need to burn oil all day. With this I can have it shut off in a short time, but also put it on the HOLD feature during the winter months for heat. Item works exactly as one would expect. It arrived timely and was packaged correctly.

Discount Lasko 30" Tall Digital Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote
This heater is AMAZING! Its around 40-50 bucks and works great. I reccomend it to anyone! The remote control is awesome, you can pick high or low the machine rotates if you want it too. My first one lasted 2-3 years and it died and I ran and bought another one. Even if it only lasts a year its WORTH it, since I keep it on all day (well not when I am at work) but at work I have one as well. This Heater is the best by far and trust me Ive had my share of heaters. Its also pretty cool looking :)
Timer is great. Temp control is nice, only every time you adjust, you have to adjust hi/lo again. Its a good buy, trust me. I'm going through 45 degree bay weather and this helps.

This is mainly a review on the manufacturer-Lasko. Over the years I have bought 2 Lasko model 6350 heaters. I paid $50 at Target for them. One heater was bought for my girlfriend 3 years ago. She has used it heavily as a supplement to heat a bath/closet/single room area and it has worked great. We liked it so much I bought another one for my parents for their RV. They visit us in the winter, and we get a lot 10-20 degree nights even here in TN, and it will heat their 37' RV which is poorly insulated. After one season, my parents heater quit working-wouldn't even power on (1.5 years after purchase). So I called Lasko and they asked for the batch number on the back of the heater. FYIthey picked up on the first ring, no automation, and spoke English. Apparently some of these units (6350) have a bad power control panel. They had me cut the cord, mail it to them w a copy of my receipt, and a brief description of the problem. Five days later I received a new unit, put it together, and it works fine. In a era where customer service is horrible, I was very pleased at how they handled the problem. Yes I know normally a product that stops working shouldn't get a good review, but I feel good about this product and manufacturer since unit num one is going strongand the fact that Lasko stands by their product says something. One thing I will mention about these pedestal type ceramic heatersthese things really put out the heat, but if you have toddlers stumbling around, the grille does get hot but I don't think so hot that it would burn a child alive and do permanent damage. Wouldn't feel good I'm sure but relatively safe. We really love these heaters, they are very quiet and efficient. Hope this helps.Best Deals on Lasko 30" Tall Digital Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote
This is a pretty good heater with bang for your buck. It does not tip over easily (like some people say) unless you deliberately push it over. I love the remote, I can sit at my comp and control the heater from several feet away. Only con is that it won't warm up your feet-since it is on a pedestal meant to give comfortable seat-height warmth.Timer is great. Temp control is nice, only every time you adjust, you have to adjust hi/lo again. Its a good buy, trust me. I'm going through 45 degree bay weather and this helps.
Honest reviews on Lasko 30" Tall Digital Ceramic Pedestal Heater with Remote
I just purchased this heater (from outside vendor). My previous Lasko heater finally gave up after about six years of seasonal use. I really liked the previous heater, so I got another Lasko. Unfortunately, this one has absolutely no tip control. My old heater was more stable than this one to begin with (pedestal makes it more prone to tipping) and if you tilted the old heater more than about 10 degrees it automatically shut off. This was a great safety feature. THIS Lasko heater can be tipped over onto the floor and will still continue cranking out heat. I am returning it.Wednesday, July 2, 2014

This unit was a replacement for a previous different model heater which lasted many years. It is easy to use, the lid is solid, and the pump is quiet. The adjustable temperatures are convenient. The only thing that could be improved is to be able to shut off the beeps that occur after the water is ready to be used following a refill. It is Ok during the day, but not necessary at night. It is possible to delay the heating with a timer, which then also of course delays the beeps to the next morning.I bought this model a year ago. Love the convenience of getting hot water any time. However, half a year later, there seemed to be some corrosion spots on the bottom. Now, the spots are more prominent and are rusty. The thought of drinking water with rust in it does not seem safe to me.

Roadpro Replacement Fan Motor for Deluxe Snackmaster RPSF-5234 Reviews
We've really loved our Coleman plug-in cooler which we've had for seven years, but recently the fan motor stopped working. The motor that is advertised as fitting the majority of the Coleman thermoelectric coolers (like the 5615/ 5232/ 5640/ 5641/ 5642/ 5644 models) is no longer available anywhere so I thought I'd give this motor a try since it looks so much like the one in our cooler. Amazingly it works on our 5640 cooler so I'm guessing it will work on any of the models listed as fitting the old universal motor. It is a little louder than the old motor, but it works great and we didn't have to shell out $100+ dollars for a new cooler. Success!
This is a bunch of bull! The shafts are too short and the diameter is too small. There is no way to fasten the motor the the cooler. I spent hours trying to fabricate adapters to use the original fans, but no way could I find a way to adapter the different shaft sizes and get the fans to balance. It's better to trash the old units and buy a new cooler.
Addendum : It lasted from Nov. 5 to Aug. 10, a little over 9 months. I am a driver and this cooler is on 24 hrs. a day 5 days a week. The original Coleman motors lasted about 2 yrs. I just bought 2 more, hopefully by the time these wear out they'll have a better cooler.
Had to trim one end of the motor shaft to make it fit right.

This Roadpro Replacement Fan Motor for Deluxe Snackmaster RPSF-5234 Cooler/Warmer Roadpro RPSMM, was bought to replace the burnt-out motor in another type of 12 volt thermoelectric cooler an Igloo KoolMate 36. The unit's shaft was slightly shorter than the original Igloo motor's shaft but the two fan blades from the KoolMate fit easily on the RoadPro motor, and once the Igloo cooler was reassembled it worked perfectly once again. The RoadPro motor is quieter and more powerful than the original unit so the repaired cooler now actually cools faster yet seems to draw to draw less 12 volt current than it did before the fix. This is an excellent choice to return an older Igloo KoolMate 36 back to service after its original fan motor stops working.Best Deals on Roadpro Replacement Fan Motor for Deluxe Snackmaster RPSF-5234

Bought as a replacement for my Coleman cooler. It is a little noisier but it is a lot faster, so my cooler is cooler than it was before. I just hope, because it is so much faster that it still lasts as long as the old Coleman motor. It has a slightly thinner shaft and longer. I had to trim the longer end to fit the Coleman. Fill the fan shaft holes with epoxy and redrill for the thinner shaft. $26 and a little work beats $100 for a new cooler.Addendum : It lasted from Nov. 5 to Aug. 10, a little over 9 months. Buy Capelli New York Fleece Throw With Whip Stitch
I bought two, and am glad I did. Great bargain. Feels nice and fluffy. I use it atop my love seat and it's there to wrap around me when it's chilly but not cold enough to turn on the heater.

Cheap Amba S 2133 B Sirio 21-Inch x 33-Inch Towel Warmer, Brushed

List Price: $750.00

The Amba Sirio Towel Warmer looks great and heats the towels in about 45 minutes to a nice cozy temperature. The installation was complicated by the inexact measurements provided by the manufacturer. The mounting holes are about 1/4 inch off in the diagram, but if you carefully measure from center to center on both vertical bars only a simple adjustment is required to ensure the mounting brackets line up with the warmer's male brackets It would help if a full size template was provided but it isn't. Once installed it far exceeds the heating capacity of the less expensive units.
