Ok, I should have read the description more thoroughly before I purchased this. We predominantly eat brown rice and there are no settings or water levels on this rice cooker for brown rice. On the occasional times we eat white rice, it has cooked it fine. I would be nice to have a spoon rest on the side somewhere.

I was looking for a light-weight rice cooker for oversea travel (i.e., 220v) and this product seemed to be only one available in U.S. I brought it with me to Germany three weeks ago but after 5 uses it stopped working. I tried hard to diagnose the problem myself but could not figure out what's wrong the light would still go up but it just no longer heats up. This really sucks. I don't know who is to blame the product itself or the distributor (I bought it from Bombay Electronics. They shipped me an Arabic version even though the original web page said it has English manual...)

We bought the Koolatron Kooler a year ago and find it very useful to keep food and drinks cool while traveling.

To use this effectively both the cooler and the items to be placed in it should be cool to begin with. The empty unit will cool about 10 degrees an hour to about 40 degrees lower than the ambient temperature around it, and maintain it's pre-cooled contents at that temperature as long as it powered on. Warm items placed in a warm cooler take much longer to cool, (the manual says up to 12 hours or longer).

We purchased the optional AC power adapter, so the night before we leave on a trip we plug the unit in and pre-cool it. The morning we are leaving we load it with a few soda and water bottles that have been cooled in the refrigerator. We also put in 2-4 plastic food containers that have been chilled in the refrigerator. One or more of those we fill with ice. The more space that is filled with cool/cold items the better the cooling process for everything else (less infiltration of warm air every time the unit is opened, less warm air to cool).

On our trip we then have cool soda and water to drink, and ice to use with the soda in a cup kept in the cup holder. If we add a room temperature soda or bottle of water the presence of the other cool/cold items filling the rest of the unit together with the action of the unit will cool that within an hour or two.

The plastic boxes are mostly for use with "doggie bag" contents from restaurant meals. Assuming an ambient temperature around the unit of 75 degrees, if the other contents were already cooled to the 35 degree temperature produced by the 40 degree cooling capacity of the unit, a room temperature container of food will be below 45-50 degrees within a couple of hours . We usually have dinner left overs for lunch the next day, certainly within two days.

The unit fits nicely in our sedan behind the drivers seat (assuming there is no passenger in the back seat that needs that leg room) and is easily reached from the front passenger seat over the console between the bucket seats.

At night we take the unit into our motel room and plug it in with the optional AC power adapter. The unit cannot be left plugged in to the cigarette lighter in the car for more than 4 hours or it will run the car battery down.

There is an optional battery saver adapter that will shut off the unit if it overtaxes the car battery. (Buying that is the reason I have returned to this item on Amazon a year later.) That will allow us to leave the unit plugged in when we leave the car for an indeterminant period of time that could be more than 3-4 hours. But after 4 hours or so the unit will shut off to protect the car battery and the contents will start to warm. So, if it is in a warm place we still can't be gone much longer than 4-5 hours if we want to keep food edible.

Finally, I keep an ordinary indoor/outdoor thermometer in the unit so that I can tell what the temperature in the unit is and am comfortable that food has not been subjected to temperatures that would make it unsafe to eat. (I think the manufacturer should build that in to the unit.)

We were very sorry that this item broke down for us even after we returned the first and then tried a brand-new second one. We purchased the first in June for a 3-week road trip in July. We also purchased the AC adapter, especially given that the manufacturer recommends when you're on the road to keep the unit going at night with the adapter so it remains cool. The first two weeks, it was fine. Then it all of a sudden, with no warning, stopped working. Whether using the cigarette lighter outlet in the car or the AC adapter it was dead. We returned it to Amazon when we got home and they were wonderful about sending us a new one to replace it very quickly. Then we went for a 3-day trip with the new one over Labor Day. This time the new one lasted maybe 10 hours on the first day and also died. Amazon allowed us under the circumstances to return both cooler and AC adapter (minus 20% which I can't kick too much about). However, our experience leads me to question whether Amazon should continue to carry this "product." We followed all the instructions and did not abuse it in any way and it was definitely very nice WHILE it worked. Sorry to be so negative but I'm sure you want the truth before you lay out this kind of money for something that can so easily and consistently stop working.

After going through a bad experience with trying to buy and then (in some cases) buying first a Vector, then a RubberMaid, then a Wagan Tech, and now a Koolatron, I can tell you that it's a relief to find a well-designed, well-built DC-powered cooler/warmer that actually works! Our Canadian neighbors to the north have done a great job with this unit.

I worried about its 17" height and depth, but once it was decided that it was going to live behind the passenger's front seat, those concerns became non-issues. In fact, its height is a benefit as long as it doesn't interfere with the seat back when you lift the lid, as you can reach right in from the driver's seat and get a can or a sandwich without much effort if you pack it well.

I also worried about all the ads that portrayed it as being only a cooler. But after having so much trouble with other companies' cooler/warmers, I decided to forget warming and bought the Koolatron without it (or so I thought). So when the unit arrived--in its original box, no less--I was pleased and surprised to see that it warms too! Excellent combination, since I have consumer-issue MRE's that I can now warm in it while I use my clumsier (and larger) Igloo Cool-Mate unit to cool other things down. And when I'm not doing that (like when the world ends or Limerick blows up), I can use it in the car as a cooler as I originally planned--an ideal situation.

If you need cooling in the car--or in an emergency situation (such as a power outage)--for medicines or for food, don't hesitate to buy this unit. In my opinion, it's by far the best one out there for its size and price, and I've seen or tried almost all of them.

I ordered, as a package, both the P20 Cooler, along with the Koolatron Muti-Purpose Adapter 110VAC to 12VDC, March 10, 1907 I checked to see both item were in stock, both were.

The Cooler arrived promptly on March 16, 2007. However, the 110VAC Adapter was back-ordered. With the Adapter on back-order, there was no way to check the Cooler's function. There was no way to pre-cool the unit, since the recommended time was about 12 hours, and it is not to be powered by vehicle battery for longer than 4 hours without the engine running. Furthermore there was no way to keep the contents cool at night while in the motel room, unless one wanted to let the engine run all night. So for the first 2 months the Cooler was useless!

The Adapter finally arrived on May 10, 2007, a full two months after the original order was placed. (This slow delivery is the reason for the 4-stars.) With the Adapter it was finally possible to test out the unit.

The unit was completely empty, outside air temp. was about 80 degrees. I was impressed by the cool-down time; a little over an hour to reach 40 degrees. Certainly the unit was not pre-cooled enough to fill with food, but the fact that it reached 40 degrees so quickly was encouraging. The adapter is somewhat cumbersome, but is easy enough to use and connect.

I have used the unit on several trips and have found it quite adequate, provided items are cold when they are introduced to it. Warm items take forever to cool down; twelve hours is not usually long enough. While the product may be cool-er it certainly is not cold. Extra frozen ice packs and/or freezer containers filled with frozen water help a great deal. They add extra cold air to the inside of the unit while frozen. Even thawed, they are still maintained at about 40 degrees. They fill up empty space within the unit, a REAL Killer: Each time the unit opens any empty space fills with warm air. This unit, being a top-loader, is a little better than others that are front-loaders. Since cold air tends to sink, more cold air stays in the unit when opened. Front-loaders spill ALL their cold air as soon as the door opens.

The unit is well constructed, and seems to perform quite well within its design capabilities. A few things to remember:

1. The unit is a COLD PRESERVER, NOT a REFRIGERATOR. Put it in cold it will come out warmer but still cold. Put in warm? Well, let's hope it is canned when you put it in.

2. The unit is a small heat-pump, (removing heat from the air to cool the inside of the unit) and it will do just that no matter what the outside air temp. is. This unit cools to 40 degree below the outside air temp. and if it is 32 degrees outside, it will cool to 40 degree BELOW that.

There is no thermostatic control, while it is plugged in, it is cooling.

The unit is insulated, but not real well, so it does no better job keeping cold out, than it does keeping it in. Water still freezes at 32 degrees, F. Transporting the filled unit in a trunk or other unheated space, in cold weather, is not the best idea. If you do, a least unplug it! If you are transporting medication which must be refrigerated, but not frozen, keep the unit in a heated area, so the unit can cool properly.

3. A small indoor/outdoor thermometer is a great idea. They are reasonable in price. They allow you to monitor both inside and outside temp. without opening the lid. Small units can be mounted outside on the top or side with double-stick tape, with the outdoor sensor inside. Ideally this would have been installed by the manufacturer, but it is a simple fix.

Perhaps Koolatron has improved their product, because unlike other postings, my cooler cooled down in several hours, not 12. My only complaint is a little too noisy, but that is a small price to pay for a reliable product. Also, I do recommend the ac adaptor. My unit is in my room now, buzzing away, keeping stuff cold. I called the company and was told that I can run it forever, there is no shutoff needed.

One minor point: with this item, you must be careful to align the arrow on the electric cord on the unit with the blue button on the extention, for cold. I did not do that and got heat for a couple of hours until I checked it.

It is multipurpose fuel ready, so instead of paying out the nose for Kerosene, I've been using diesel fuel in it, and it works just beautifully. My old kerosene heater stopped working and I needed a replacement quickly. I saw this unit on sale for a great price so I decided to wait the extra few days for shipping rather than going to the store the same day. My old heater was 60,000 BTU and I paid $180 12 years ago. I had built a wooden stand for it so I could wheel it around my shop. First, this new unit is the exact size as my old one so it fit in the stand perfectly. Second, this unit is 75,000 BTU and I paid less than my old one. Third, it has an on/off switch and a thermostat, unlike my old one. And fourth, it starts up immediately. My old one took awhile I wasn't always sure if it were going to start or not. I couldn't be more please with it.

I needed a heater and called to rent one. I needed it for three days and found out the rental place charged $32 a day to rent. I was pressed for time because it was Tuesday and I desperately needed one for the up coming weekend. This is a great little stove! It heats up quickly. You really have to be carefully and not touch the stove as the directions states because the metal on the outside get very hot. Be sure to keep it sitting on a smooth flat surface so that the air can circulate around it! Takes up little space on the counter. This little stove certainly gets the job done...but I would have preferred to spend a little more money for one that had varied temperature settings. This way you get a constant temp and don't have to worry about burning your hair. I'm thinking about returning it.

Now I can do my hair all in my room. Before I had to keep going into the kitchen, then wait for the comb to cool down, then take it back into the kitchen, etc. This added probably an hour to my hair time. Now I just heat up my comb in my room with my mirrors and other hair products and I can get it done in about two hours rather than 3!

This stove gets REALLY hot though. Don't touch the outside and make sure it's not around anything flammable. It's very sturdy, seems like it will last me a while. I am pleased!

Hi Natural Sisters! If you need one of these then you are doing an old fashioned press n curl! : ) or something like that. Anyhoo I remember back in the day when we would use the kitchen stove. I just bought a thermal flat iron (*note when we say "thermal" that means uses a stove and has marcel handles, some folks say" Marcel Irons", it's all where you are from). The reason why a thermal iron is often preferred is the iron quality. Quality iron is what produces a good finish. Electric irons use a different type of metal plate that does not work as well on coarser hair.

Well when I pulled mine out of the box I was pleased. I received mine fast because Amazon was the filler. It is true, these ovens are hot hot hot around the outside so be careful. I had to order one because nowadays it's just not proper to use the kitchen stove. So I bought for convenience and i luv it. the price is okay, wish they were cheaper and I wish we made them in the USA. Back in the day the cords were covered in a cloth because the cord can easily burn too if it touches the metal. I NEVER thought being in beauty school in the 80's that we would come back to this way of doing things. But it's good to be natural. Our hair really is beautiful just learn some styling tips on youtube, you can do it.

I LOVE this heater HOWEVER after 1 winter I stored it and now we are in winter again and I am getting a error message on the heater of "PF". I looked in the manuel and it says that it is a temperture sensor issue and I have to contact the Service Center. The "limited warranty" is 1 year so I am out of luck. The $80 I paid for this heater would have been worth every penny only if it had lasted more then just 1 year. I am considering buying a newer/different model because when it did work it was great! not only a heater but it also is a fan. Being able to set the temperture to what you want is very convenient.

I've used one of these for two winters and love it. This year we are buying one for our daughter to use in her room. We bought a different brand locally and are sorely disappointed because you have to sit within 18" of the heater to actually feel anything.... The DeLonghi TCH6690ER has a low and high speed that truly is the perfect two speeds to warm you up. I can set this in my cold master bathroom and point it into our bedroom to warm both rooms up. It's tall enough to be effective but not so tall that it will be difficult to store over the summer. This is the second one I'm buying so that should say something!!

I cannot express enough how happy I am with buying this popcorn machine. we have had the machine for a couple months now and have used it numerous times. I originally bought the machine to use at my son's circus themed birthday party in July but bought it early seeing as it cost as much to buy it as if i were to rent one. I figued it should work ok enough but was expecting it to not work very well since it was at a steal deal in comparison to other poppers of its size. Now, i tell my husband, this was the best investment weve made!! We have use it numerous times. We just received this and fired it up. I am impressed with the overall rugged construction. As stated, the plexi used on the sides and the doors is commercial not flimsy at all. The kettle is well made looks and feels commercial. One tip on installing it install the kettle tilted a bit as if you were dumping it. This keeps the gear/axle from being engaged while trying to slip the kettle into its bracket.

Heats right up in about 3 minutes dump the corn in and a full 12oz batch takes about 2 minutes to pop to completion. The cycle is a little shorter after that if you are in continuous operation mode.

I haven't tried the pre-packaged corn/oil it sounds tasty and convenient. But the popcorn from the 50lb bag was good using popcorn oil from local big box store.

One thing I wasn't quite sure of from the description but now that I see it and have thought it through this machine will clearly hold 5 gal of popped corn in the warming area. Of course, you are not making 5 gal in a single batch! You can tilt the stainless panel out and then close the doors. This enables you to scoop out the popped corn while another batch is in the kettle.

I bought this pop corn popper and donated it to an inner city school in Flint, Mich for them to use as a fund raiser. It replaced a unit that was over 16 years old. The Great Northern popper work great right out of the box and got rave reviews from the parent that had been making the pop corn forever. The kids also loved it as the old one burned the popcorn much of the time. Within 90 days, after approximately 12 uses the kettle burned out. I did much research on many of the different heated mattress pads and am very pleased with this model. A few "bonus" options on this model that are not noted in the product details:

1. Time Set

You can set the time on the controllers (see why you'd want to do this in #2)

2. Set time for Pre-Heat

By setting the time (see #1) you can also set a time for the mattress pad to start the pre-heat function. This is a fabulous option if you go to bed at a similar time each night (like I do). The bed is nice and toasty when I am ready to go to bed and I don't have to remember to turn it on.

3. Auto-off choice of hours

The controller has a choice for the number of hours you want the unit to stay on before turning off. The choices are 2 hours, 6 hours or 10 hours. The unit comes pre-set at 10 hours. For myself the 2 hours is perfect.

I am extremely pleased with this purchase. No more cold feet or legs when I get into bed anymore! As others have stated this unit can get very hot i usually have mine set at 3 or lower. Well worth the money. You won't regret this.

I purchased this mattress pad specifically for the features that two other reviewers mentioned, the ability to have the unit turn on automatically at the same time each day. Unfortunately, this product does not have that capability. The accompanying manual shows the different control models that may be included with your particular unit, and one of them evidently does have a clock which would allow you to set the unit to come on automatically. I don't want others to make the same mistake . . . . . buying this product on the assumption they will be able to have it turn on automatically. I did call the customer service number in the user's manual, but no explanation was given. I was simply given the option of sending it away to be "repaired".

Other than that, the product is of high quality.

Just installed in a 28 x 24 garage with an 8' ceiling (the ceiling is not completely insulated yet). It's a cold windy day (0 degrees wind chill), and this heater is keeping the garage warm enough to work in a flannel shirt. Without the ceiling being finished, much of the heat is obviously escaping right out the roof vents. I do believe that once the ceiling is completed, it will do a fine job in this garage.

Shipped quickly from Amazon with no damage; instructions easy to follow; installation was simple. Called Mr. Heater's Customer Service line with a simple question, and after punching a few buttons to get to the correct department, I actually spoke to a real person who also spoke English. Thermostat wiring could have been a bit longer.

Two points to consider when installing:

One, although overall very light, the heater is quite a bit heavier on one end due to the control valve, making it necessary to put a slight bend in the hanger to make it hang level. The factory could have positioned the mounting point slightly to the left to counter balance the heater, but this is minor and easily corrected.

And two, be patient about letting air bleed from the gas line and getting gas through the control valve when you first light the pilot. My supply line is less than 40' from the tank to the heater, but it took several minutes of holding the gas valve in at the 'Pilot' position to get gas to flow.
