We have a 5L Zoji hot water pot and recently, used 1 packet (per directions) of this stuff to clean it. It worked great! We did do the cleaning cycle twice, just to be sure we got all the lime scale out. We have hard water, use the pot daily and after several months, it was EXTREMELY scaled up inside. For those who were wondering... This product is just 100% pure granular citric acid. Nothing else. Citric acid is also called SOUR SALT. The same stuff you would use for canning, cooking Jewish foods, etc. Each packet contains 30 grams or 2 tablespoons. There are 4 packets per box, 120 grams total or 4.23 ounces. Citric acid is available in powdered and various granular forms (for VARIOUS prices). This granular product had about the texture of regular table salt. Any form would work just fine. First, you need to dissolve this product in 1 cup or 240 ml warm water. Next, fill pot with plain water to just below max fill line and pour citric acid mixture into inner container. Then, turn on unit and warm for 1-3 hours. Dump water, then refill with fresh water, bring to a boil, dispense a cup (240ml) or so, to flush dispenser tube and pump, then dump remaining water. KEEP WIRE FILTER PLUG IN PLACE DURING ENTIRE PROCESS, IF YOUR UNIT IS SO EQUIPPED. Zojirushi says to use the programed cleaning cycle and follow the directions in your owner's manual, if your unit has this feature. Also, to adjust the amount of citric acid and the length of warming time, depending on the amount of scale in your pot. Zoji says this product may be used for all brands of water pots, probably because they are all made the same in one or two factories. Clean as a whistle, when done! Looks and works like new! Easy, too! Hope this is helpful! PS: It clearly states in the owners manual NOT to use vinegar (instead of citric acid) to clean your pot, as it will permanently damage your pots inner coating.

Works well but this a very expensive way to go. All you need to dissolve the scale is a mild acid.

We used to use vinegar, which works well but smells like vinegar. Some people report some corosion, though we used it on our old Zoji hot pot for about 7 years without noticing any corrosion. Perhaps it's because we only descaled it twice a year.

Add a glass jar to the inside and you use a lot less (Think of how you displace water when you get in the tub) You can also save the vinegar to use again later, though white vinegar in bulk is quite inexpensive.

This product is 100% Citric acid which doesn't smell, however for the same price here on Amazon you can buy almost 10 times as much if you buy food grade (Citric acid is used for lots of things including cooking.) We also use Citric acid in our dishwasher as the newer non phosphate detergents are much more susceptible to hard water deposits.

Two tablespoons are about the right amount for each cleaning cycle

Citric Acid 1 lb., (Frontier)

Citric Acid, priced per pound

Citric Acid 4 Lb tub

Citric Acid (Lemon Salt) 5 Pounds Bulk

Citric Acid 1 Lb tub

I live in the mountains and we have well water. To say the least its incredibly hard water. Our Zojirushi was completely coated with white film. I used 4 of the packets and followed the instructions and i was shocked when i opened up the pot. Completely spotless. Great product.

Honest reviews on Zojirushi #CD-K03EJU Inner Container Cleaner for Electric Pots, 4

I use this to clean my 3L Zojirushi electric water boiling pot. Since I boil tap water in my pot, over time the interior of the pot becomes stained with minerals such as limescale and iron that precipitate from the water.

Zojirushi recommends this product to clean the pot. It's easy to use use 1 packet, dissolve in water and fill the pot as directed, set the cleaning cycle, and voila, the pot is clean.

I have never had a strange taste or smell after cleaning, but note that I typically dump the first batch of water I use after I clean the pot, and use it as usual after that.

The cleaner is food grade citric acid. You can buy citric acid in bulk, and at a price that is much lower than this product.

Amazon does carry bulk citric acid labeled "food grade", but since citric acid is also widely used in industrial applications, I didn't want to take any chances, so opted for this product, but next time may opt for a cheaper option.

Some reviews mention using vinegar to clean out the pot. My pot's product manual specifically mentions not to use vinegar. Both vinegar and citric acid are mild acids, and I wonder why the manufacturer seems to be so anti-vinegar?

The only reason I can come up with is that vinegar may react with the lining of the water container or with the inner lining of the transparent plastic water level indicator (and thus make it hazy instead of transparent)?

Most Zojirushi water pots have a small thimble-like filter that may fall off when you dump out the water (mine did), so you may want to make sure it stay where it is supposed to when you empty your pot.

I push 3-4 L through my Zojirushi water heater every other day, which makes cleaning properly a critical issue. Love this cleaner--it does the trick every time, easy as pie.

The wall furnace looked fine when unpacked, but during the installation process I found the combustion chamber had twisted away from the somewhat flimsy brackets on the secondary bracket that mounts on the wall bracket. I am guessing the unit was dropped on a corner during shipping and the chamber assembly twisted free, breaking the rivets that held it and twisting 2 of the 4 brackets. I could have returned it, I'm sure, for a replacement, but a careful examination showed no other damage. We bent the brackets back and securely riveted them. The gas inlet filter also fell out when the dust plug was removed. This was tricky to get back into position properly, so the unit needed to have a brass fitting installed while the unit was upside down. Then the gas line was attached when the unit was back on the wall.

The cut-out template was accurate. I did a drill through the wall and cut the outside vent hole just slightly down from the inside vent hole to allow the required 3% drop for water drainage. Cutting the vent pipe and rod as specified in the directions resulted in a perfect through-the-wall installation of the vent assembly. The vent assembly covers make for an attractive installation outside. Once in place and running, the heater performed very well, easily heating a 1000 sq. ft. apartment. The outside temperatures are about 35 40deg F, so this is not a severe weather environment. The sealed chamber combustion using outside air which is vented back out through a central exhaust vent means there is no chance of sucking air out of the room or exhausting combustion byproducts into the room unless you install the vent assembly below or right next to a window or other opening into the structure. Follow the guidelines and you have a safe installation. That is, assuming the combustion chamber does not leak. I have no way of determining if that will happen over time, but there were no apparent combustion products of any kind coming from the wall furnace when newly installed. Even the normal new-heater burn-off odor was very low.

I could not give this a 5 star rating because of the flimsy internal mounting bracket issue. The unit cover is also made of materials that appear to be thinner than the painted sheet metal covers one usually encounters on furnace cover assemblies. However, for the price, this wall furnace appears to do an excellent job of heating, and the installed furnace is actually pretty attractive.

I have not yet gotten an electric bill after using this heater, but I do like it very much. It is portable, and I can leave it right against a wall and not worry (the wheels keep it 4 or so inches from the drywall) and the room where I do computer work is far from the thermostat for the oil burner, so it tends to be colder than the rooms next to the thermostat. This heater fills the warmth gap nicely. I even use the remote which came with it. As long as it stays connected to the power supply, it retains the last setting I used. When it is unplugged, it reverts to the default settings, so that is something to be watchful for. I have only used it on low; the high seems to have a large draw on the power supply and "high" is the default. It arrived before hurricane Sandy which left my home without power for seven days; a small generator helped us with absolutely necessary power such as keeping the fridge going, and I used this heater along with a small portable propane heater to keep the house bearable.

Turbo Tropical Fish Liquid Solar Blanket
Customer Ratings: 3 stars

We have been using a liquid solar cover for a couple of years. We used the ecosavr and liked it. I guess they stopped making those because I can no longer get them. So I went with the Turbo, and it is suck-o.

First off, the fish does not sink to the bottom of the pool. So mine keep getting stuck in the skimmer. The instructions say that it will sink in time... 5 hours later no luck. So I tied it to the bottom of the ladder and the grommet ripped out...and it floated back to the surface...grrrrrr....

So then I re-read the instructions (I am kinda of a doofus at times so maybe I missed something) The instructions say if I shake it vigorously in the water it will sink faster. So I put on my underwater iPod (highly recommended by the way) turned on "Hey ya" (no wait...its on my wifes playlist not mine...really...) and I shake it like a Polaroid picture.

They it rips open like parachute at 1500' and the liquid mess empties into the pool....grrrr...

Needless to say, the other Turbos are going back today. One of the worst products I have seen since the Six Flags Bonzi Slide. Save your cash and the chemical balance of your pool and learn from my goober mistake. Avoid the Turbo.

Heard about it first late last summer and used two for the remainder of the season. Worked great I think hard to tell how often (or less often) the heater kicked on, but it seemed less. Fish behaved as advertised, no problems. It did like to swim around the skimmer, but once it sank it stayed down. Buying 6 for this summer, keep one left over for opening next year.

This is my first year using the turbo solar fish and I love it! Since there is no more messing with the solar cover, I find we use the pool more. And it heated the pool up better than the solar cover. I'd have to reread the directions, but I thought the fish was supposed to slowly sink over 30 days, not immendiately sink. When it does sink, it's empty. We tied ours to the ladder and it works great.

I have purchased MECO grills over the years [since the early-'80s] and have been a satisfied customer. I like the features of the grill, and have accepted the reality that the product is not as robust as Weber, but the value has always offset the relative cost issue. I just purchased a new 4106 in late June and was quite disappointed. No longer is the hood pre-assembled to the bowl with rivets, requiring no assemby by the owner, but [as noted in by another commenter] the proper locknuts required to assemble the entire grill were missing; in there place square non-locking nuts, which if utilized as direct substitute would have left a shaky grill forever. I contacted MECO and a very pleasant lady told me that was how the company was was shipping the units now, and she did not know why. But, she did happily ship the locknuts necessary, and a week later, I was able to finally assemble the grill in its entirety. Had I needed the grill immediately, I could have purchased the locknuts for 'chump-change' at my local mega-hardware store, but I did not. My final observation regarding my new grill, in addition to the above, as I compare its 'heft' to my old grill which I have not trashed as yet, it appears the gauge of the metal in both the hood & bowl is less. I suspect the robustness of this grill will not meet that of old one. Note: the only reason I'm replacing the old grill is that for the first time ever with any MECO grill I've owned, the bottom of the bowl has corroded so badly that I'm afraid it might collapse through while grilling. I prefer not to test my theory any longer.

Having said all that: as stated earlier, I do enjoy using my MECO grill as the features are to my liking. I wish the quality was the same. This will be my last MECO.....hope it lasts.....Meco Series 4100 Model 4106 Square Utility Charcoal Grill, Red

My second grill of the same model. The first one eventually rusted out after 10+ years. I bought another, this time in red. But I would recommend black because the red wears out prematurely.

This is the fourth Meco 4100 Grille I have owned. They have never let me down when it comes to regulating my cooking and my time! They are easy and time-saving to cook with. I have owned bigger, "easier" propane gas grilles but for the comvenience, nothing comes close to this little whopper! I will never own anything else again.

Pros:

~Fairly realistic flames

~For those of you in hot climates who still want to have the calming effects of a fire, you can leave the "flame" on without having the heat on

~"Flame" height can be adjusted high or low

~Temperature can be adjusted

~Feels oh-so-nice when I get in from being out in the freezing Colorado weather I can switch it on, stand in front of it, and get that warm-clothes-from-the-dryer feeling

~Compact, but not so small as to seem Mickey Mousey

~Lightweight easily moveable to other areas of the house

~Quiet the fan is barely audible

~The unit (on the sides, top, and back) does not heat up can touch without getting burned

~Functional door on the front opens up to reveal control panel, or you can control it with the included remote

~Setup was fast my husband had it done in about 5 minutes

Cons:

~We have about a 15' x 15' living area. It is fairly open (no walls between the kitchen & dining room, so adding approximately another 25' x 15' with those two areas), and so the heater doesn't really "warm up" the room. Which is understandable since the space is as open as it is. It does, however, take that little chill out of the air. The furnace kicks on about half as often as before.

~The cord is pretty short I'd estimate probably about 3 feet so you have to either keep it close to the plug in or get an extension cord.

~Remote doesn't work from too far away, and must be basically right in front of the unit to make it work

~If you're really cold (as I am when I come in from being out in the -4 degree air)you have to stand / sit within 3 feet of it or it won't get you warmed up.

Even with the "cons", I LOVE this little heater. It's been really nice to have to take that chill out of the house and to stand next to when coming in out of the cold!

I got this to heat the end of my hallway and the rooms adjacent to it. Instead of plopping down an ugly old space heater I decided to get this. It's a beautiful decoration and it heats very well the hallway and the rooms near it stay nice and warm, just what I needed! The flame isn't THAT realistic but it's probably the best looking flame in an electric stove. The Dimplex flames look more realistic but the fire looks like it's nearly dead, this one looks like it's roaring and alive.

I got my stove just as the wether started changing. I took it out of the box and it was pumping heat right away, I had many compliments on it and it added the perfect mood to my living room. Until about two weeks after it came, that is when it started making this loud whining noise. I thought it was the heater part but after removing the back I found it was the motor that rotated the flame effect. I just disconnected the motor. I am going to contact Duraflame and see what they are going to do. Bottom line is it's a great stove that puts out lots of heat but it shouldn't start breaking after two weeks of use.

Honest reviews on Duraflame Large Stove Heater, Black, DFS-750-1

I purchased this, after I saw one at a friends house, not this particular one, but really like mine better.

It a little larger, which I like and seems to really do the job. I was on a shoping network reading and

hearing about duraflame, and your price was so much better! It looks nice, I live in senior housing apt. and

I really am happy with it, have it on for the effect sometimes when heat is not needed. Great purchase.

The unit is very nice looking but perhaps the size is a little overkill. I like being able to place it against the wall and out of the way. Does a decent job of heating a poorly insulated room that is about 300 sq. feet with no other heat source. I was able to maintain the room at 60 degrees when the outside temperature dipped to freezing recently. My main gripe is that the heat comes out near the top of the unit (about 2' above the floor). You can't direct the airflow any lower than horizontal so it stays pretty cold on the floor. Just being about to blow the warm air downward would make me change this rating to a 5 star.

If you are looking for a cost-effective way to heat small rooms, the Lasko 758000 Cyclonic Ceramic Heater is a great buy. In order to be succinct, please find the "pros" and "cons" below.

Pros:

* Effective and easy-to-understand controls that allow for automatic settings governed by temperature objectives or heating by high or low output

* An illuminated display (easily viewable from 5-10 yards) that indicates the surrounding room temperature

* Directional control for heat output

* Nice form factor that allows for flexible floor placement in terms of space needed and general aesthetics

Cons:

* At higher temperature settings, the unit generates a little noise. To be fair, however, the sound is similar to and no more imposing that a PC or Printer

All in all, this is a good unit for rooms that central heating does not reach effectively. I would definitely buy another unit should the occasion arise.

I bought this unit to heat a finished basement. Like everybody, I did the research, read the reviews and weeded through the hundreds of makes, models and different type space heaters. For the money this is a good unit. It does exactly what it advertises and I am a happy camper.

Honest reviews on Lasko 758000 Cyclonic Ceramic Electric Space Heater

YES IHAVE 3 OF THEM NOW AND IT IS OVER A YEAR NOW AND ALL ARE WORKING GREAT AS OF 3/31/2010. I have just purchased the 3rd heater of this model. The temp works just like they say, and is right on target. Set it at 72 and it kicks off at 74 and starts up at 71. The fan is quiet. As a safty they use and over heat sensor that works to cut the heater off if the air flow is blocked. I would still like to have a tip over switch. I did place my unit on it's face to see what would happen, and it did sut down within 15 sec. Other than the tip over switch that I would like as a back up. I have hunted the internet for hours and not found a better unit. Hope this helps you. If it will last more than a year, that would be very good.

Good luck Jerry

I am truly disappointed in Lasko for this particular heater. We have had great service and satisfaction from Lasko products for years and thought they were invincible. This heater really let us down. It looks nice and heats well but has shortcomings and safety problems we just could not live with.

1. Although the direction of the airflow was variable, it sent the heat in the wrong directions and this could not be overcome. Straight forward to straight up was all it offers. Heated air needs to be directed in a downward path (heat rises, you know) to truly be efficient. My wife likes to put the heat near her feet to be comfortable and this was impossible. Nothing below the maximum downward flow (straight ahead) of this heater became appreciably warm.

2. This heater has an extremely small depth footprint. Although relatively unstable and easy to tip over accidentally on hard floors, it tips itself over forward (with NO effort on our part) on carpeting due to most of the weight of the internals being slung forward. To use it at all in the family room, we had to put a relatively wide board under it.

3. After a very little while on high heat, the power cord gets almost too hot to handle. Compared to other heaters we have (All Laskos), the cord on this model is very lightweight. We also noted that on other Laskos in this power range, they had 3 prong plugs and this one only has 2 prongs. VERY CHEAP and we never felt safe with it.

Thanks to Amazon's great return policy, we were able to send this back for a full refund. We then replaced it with another, better designed Lasko (from Amazon) that we are extremely happy with.

Thanks Amazon!

After going through 3 other a/c's this summer (a frigidaire that arrived broken, another that was the wrong voltage and an LG from a few years ago that finally bit it) I spent the extra $ and went with a fredrich. Couldn't be happier, or for that matter, cooler. The unit takes about an hour to install, you have to slide the chassis off and mount the unit to the window (be sure to follow the instructions!) what you see when you slide the unit out from its housing is what makes this ac different. Solid commercial grade fan and compressor, a vent to take in outside air, totally solid construction.

After installing and turning it on the unit cooled off my place in about 15 min (about 550 sq. ft.) and it keeps the temp consistent. It's not the quietest unit I've heard but it's acceptable and I can easily watch a movie w the unit running in the same room.

Finally, this ac looks really nice. Love that the controls are hidden under a flip up panel. Totally modern and clean looking.

Worth the extra money and time for installiation. Highly recommended.

Back in 1999 I bought a Goldstar 10K BTU window unit and it worked perfectly for the last 13 years but it started to make some new noises that were telling me it's days were numbered.

Goldstar was bought by LG and I bought a refurbished 12K BTU LG unit on line two months ago and it turned out to be defective.

The thing I noticed was all three units were identical in their internal layout, external dimensions, and even the metal stampings in the frame and louver placement.

The only difference was the design of the plastic face attachment... like a '61 Pontiac and a '61 Chevy are pretty much the same car with cosmetic differences.

So, the moral of the story is, spend the money, get a good unit like this Friedrich and save yourself the frustration and aggravation of going round and round with having to ship back a defective unit after you've cut up the shipping box.

Always plug it in before you cut up the box!

When I could not find a room air conditioner that was manufactured in the USA, I chose the Friedrich, which was rated best by Consumer Reports. I installed the unit through the wall and the owners manual and installation instructions on line do not recommend framing the inside of the opening but I think that framing is essential and I framed it. The instructions also do not call for the removal of a flange on the top of the case but I believe it is necessary for through the wall installation. We have only used the unit sparingly since it was installed due to weather conditions but when we did, the performance and cooling capacity was excellent. There are several fan speed settings on the unit that are extremely hard to read on the remote due to the small size.

This is a great heater. Operates primarily with remote control. Small and QUIET! Only drawbacks that I've come across are that 1) the temperature dial is a little hard to read and 2) you can't set it on a carpet, because the anti-tip mechanism is a little sensitive, but probably shouldn't be on a carpet anyways. Works perfectly on dresser top or hearth.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

When I first shopped for this item, there were no reviews here, DeLonghi was not much help, and the manual they published on their website did not show the back of the heater. They mentioned "wall mounting" in the MARKETING information. Why wasn't this part of the USER MANUAL? Trust me, if you have a problem and go to the manufacturer, they will tell you to refer to the manual -NOT to a website listing that may be long gone.

But it's hardly the most important feature of this product, so it doesn't seem helpful that somebody would go to the trouble to log on here, refute my earlier comments, but say nothing about the heater's performance AS A HEATER.

Well, I now have two of them, and I will try to give some idea what it is like. Unfortunately, it's a mixed message.

GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS.

One of the two units I ordered was shipped in its retail carton. That box was beat up terribly in transit. However -surprise -the heater that came in it works fine (so far). So ironically, the beat up box is where we get the good news.

THE GOOD NEWS. I think this product is just great, in the set of features, and the design. It uses DeLonghi's "ECC" -a very cool feature (I have other DeLonghi models that use it, too). To see it in action, you need to set the "power" (wattage consumption) control to High.

Again, to clarify: the "power" switch does not change the target temperature. It changes how warm the coils get, which in effect controls how quickly the heater warms things up. In anything but a really cold setting, this feature can really cut down on wasted electricity by dropping out of high, to medium or low, once the room is mostly warm.

To pick a desired temperature, you use its thermostat dial, which is not terribly precise, but which is typical for a device like this. The numbers on the thermostat dial are white on white -a really invisible way to mark a control dial! And they have only vague relation to actual Farenheit degrees. They'll get you into the ballpark, but fine tuning will be up to you and your senses (or a separate thermometer, if you have one).

You find a temperature setting that you're comfortable with, and once that's done, presumably you can leave it there from day to day. If one had to constantly reset that dial -for example, if it is used by different people with different tastes, or whatever -I suppose it could be a drag. But it's a fairly inexpensive device, and has a lot of other features, so I can live with it. Speaking of multiple users: if you want to move it around a lot, that is made easy by the light weight and built in handle.

ELECTRONIC CLIMATE CONTROL. Once you figure out a temperature setting, the ECC feature can go to work. Again, you need to *set* it to high, for it to switch downward, or back up, as needed. I do not think it will switch upward from a lower setting to high, if you have manually chosen one of those lower settings to start with.

With ECC, the heater senses how close the current room temperature is to the setting you have chosen, and as it gets closer to that temperature, it lowers the power setting from high to medium, or to low. During the few days I've used it so far, a cold draft kept it from ever shutting off entirely, but it would do in a better-sealed room.

Note: when the heater shuts off, the fan and oscillation also shut off. Unlike other models, the oscillation does not continue unless the fan is on. And the fan can be run without oscillation.

There is a totally separate setting to run the fan by itself (for cooling); but the fan only runs at one speed, and is quite meek. It will not be mistaken for a wind tunnel! The fan always runs when the heater is on, and I'm sure the reason for that is to prevent the plastic case from melting. The only heaters I've seen where the fan can be turned off are ceramic or convection designs, and come in metal cases. So there's a good reason that it works this way.

In any case, the ECC feature has worked great for me so far. For the most part, the heater ran on lower power settings even though I had set it to High. On a couple of nights when the draft got worse, I could see it kick up to high for a while, then go back to a lower setting. The room (15x15) was plenty warm, with not much effort by the heater. I'll probably set the thermostat a bit lower next time I use it, and perhaps it may hardly ever need to use the High setting at all. That would save a lot of electricity.

The remote control works fine. It can control everything on the heater except the thermostat setting, which -as noted above -is a rotary dial. Everything else is electronic, even including the oscillation feature, and can be operated from across the room (as well as by the physical switch on the unit itself). To use the remote you will need to supply the two AAA batteries yourself.

SAFETY. One of the reasons I specifically wanted this heater is because it has multiple safety cutoffs. Some are thermal, but I was also interested in the tipover switch. If it tips over at all, it powers down completely. It does not turn itself back on when set back on its base. I've seen reviews of other heaters complain about this, but such complaints REALLY miss the point.

There are two things you want from a portable heater. 1) Heat up the room; and 2) DO NOT BURN DOWN THE BUILDING. Just scan the headlines in any given winter, and you'll find people dying from fires caused by heaters. So, safety is an important buying issue.

There are a million ways that a heater could be tipped over, but one thing you do not want is for an unattended heater to get knocked around -by whatever cause it might be -and then turn itself back on. Unattended, it could fall on something flammable, or into standing water, or who knows what. Being upright is no guarantee that it's safe. That's also why the unit also does not automatically reset itself after a loss of power. It's all about safety, and I think this model scores high in that regard.

The tipover switch sensor is in the base of the unit, relying on gravity, and works just like it should. I'll leave it to somebody else to test the thermal cutoff safety switch, or just trust DeLonghi. The unit supposedly sounds an audible alarm in the case of overheating, which is a great feature.

FINALLY, THE BAD NEWS

Okay, so we ordered a second unit. Unlike the first, this one was double boxed and the retail box looked perfect. We took out the heater, plugged it in, and turned it on.

ZAP! SPARK! ZAP! and with that, the heater died completely!

Very scary. That one is being returned to Amazon, and we've decided to make do with the one that (so far) works fine. I would have scored this product a five based on the first unit, which appears to live up to its designers' clever intentions. But I would have scored it a 1 (or zero) based on the second unit, which was at best a huge inconvenience (requiring a return) and at worst, a potential hazard. I think leaving it as a three is fair, under the circumstances.

Considering the difference between these two units, either there is really bad Quality Control at the manufacturer, or something in the distribution channels, or whatever. The first one is just delightful. But the second one? There is no excuse for a brand new product -shipped so carefully -to fail so completely and dangerously. It was a disaster waiting to happen, and I feel lucky that it killed itself immediately, rather than emitting sparks two weeks later in a bedroom or some such place.

With that in mind, follow the instructions in the manual for this heater -as for ANY heater -and keep it as far as possible from flammable items. That is very hard in most homes, but you need to be conscientious about it. This sort of goes back to the discussion about hanging it on a wall... that was something I contemplated doing, but if I want to get it off the floor, I think I'd rather set it on a metal filing cabinet or something. After all, many homes have plasterboard walls, which is basically gypsum coated in paper.

By the way, the whole thing can be tilted upward or downward, besides the horizontal oscillation. So the floor really is the most logical place for it, I think.

I hope this fills in any information gaps. I think the overall design is great, and the main reason I'm not more worried about the quality issue is because we own two new DeLonghi radiators that are good, reliable products that live up to their promises. I suggest that if you buy it, run it through all the features in the manual before putting it to regular use.

If you watch the price fluctuations at Amazon you can get a very good deal on it. It was out of stock for a long time before we finally got ours, so if you're thinking about it, you may not want to delay.

This is a medium size heater that can heat from a small room to a medum and a half size room very well in less than 3 to 10 minutes depending on the size of the room. The thermostat is great. If it gets too hot just turn down the dial until you hear the fan turn off and just leave it. It will turn back on and reheat when the room temperatures lowers. The only cons I have with this heater are 1) that it does not have a timer and 2)one can barely see the numbers on the thermostat dial. Although it really doesn't need a timer because of the anti-freeze thermostat and although the numbers on it blends in with the dial just using a color marker pen can bring out the numbers so they can be read without having to use a magnifying glass will do the trick.

Honest reviews on DeLonghi DFH550R Remote Control SafeHeat Motorized Oscillation Fan

This is a good looking, small unit. The remote control is very convienant and this heater has some great safety features. I dont feel that it gets warm enough however. I live in Vermont and it gets pretty cold. It takes a long time for this heater to have any effect on my room.

If you live in an unusually cold region, I would recommend opting for a bigger sized space heater.

I have an office that is a decent size, on the smaller sizebut has a very large window and thin walls so it is arctic cold at times. I purchased this heater based on the reviews and the remote control...the remote is great, as is the safety feature. I have only had it a couple of days, but so far I am very happy. I have the thermostat cranked up as high as it will go and the heater on the highest setting and its so quiet I can barely tell its running. My office heats up so quickly my coworkers have been stopping by to warm up!

FYI: if the safety button on the back is not pushed in, your heater won't operate. I thought mine was broken until I found this out...

last time I tried to replace just the coil heating wire, but I must have stressed the wire a bit much on one of the turns. This time I bought the whole assembly.

We wanted a simple stove to heat approx 1000 sq ft. This stove works very well, at times, too well! Husband installed w/o much trouble. Pressed logs work great with this stove making burn times longer thru the night. Depending on wood used and temps outside, it may be necessary to stoke during the overnite hours. This is our main source of heat and it does the job.

Pros: cost

fire view

easy to use

works well (very hot)

4-6 hrs burn time depending on wood

Cons: No ash clean out tray

dirty

door needs tightening often

small fire box

We plan to install a wood cook stove in a year or two to replace this. We will move this stove to our lower level.

So after a long wait we finally got our wood stove. All the weld seams are half ass, the distance that the instruction want this stove is also ridicules33" from any wall? Pretty disappointed all in all.

The product image shows the unit beyond fill capacity for an added "coolness" effect with the water boiling.

The "NESCO" logo becomes very hot to the touch.. so after refilling the lid will need to be closed very quickly or with something to cover your hand to prevent burns.

The first time I filled it up with cold water from the tap (as per the instructions), I thought it took a long time to boil. So then I timed a few boils using cold tap water (wastes least water, most realistic usage scenario for majority of my time):

Boil time 1 not timed, 8 cups

Boil time 2 10:30.0, 8 cups

Boil time 3 2:46.1, 2 cups, no cooldown

So when the product description says "in a matter of minutes hot water will be ready", I think they're going based on the minimum fill amount of 2 cups.. or having filled it with already hot water from the tap. Timing is done from switching power on to when it auto-shuts off using the stop watch on my iPhone. So it may have a second or two margin of error due to reaction time.

After 4 full boils (directions recommend 2) there is still an extremely slight plastic smell to the water which I imagine will go away after a few more full runs. There also appears to be a very light flavor difference between the boiled water from this unit and from our stainless kettle on the stove. It's hardly noticable and when I mix up 3 cups, one boiled from this, one from the microwave, and one from the stove.. I can't accurately pin-point where each was boiled.

Ultimately, I purchased this for convienance. My wife is from the UK; both of us are big coffee and tea drinkers.. waiting for the kettle to boil on the stove top was getting old. Boiling water in an electric kettle is more energy efficient and opens up a space on our stove top again where our stainless steel kettle once sat.

The lighting on the unit is kind of cool but the kids seem to enjoy it more. The light isn't as bright as shown in the product image and is somewhat overpowered by normal lighting within the kitchen.

Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. Now if only they would boil as fast as they do in the UK.. ;)

As someone who lived in the tea-drinking land of the Brits for years, I am fussy about my cuppa. I use distilled water and would be the first to reject the appliance if there was any taint to the taste of the water.

When I unwrapped the kettle, the first thing I did was boil a mixture of tap water and white vinegar, at least a cup of the latter. Be careful if/when you do this -the mixture will literally jump out of the spout of a full kettle when it comes to a boil, so make sure there's nothing like paper or flesh that can be splashed! Then I poured the vinegar mixture down the sink, rinsed the kettle with tap water, filled it with distilled water and boiled a faultless cup of tea.

The kettle is well-designed so that water neither dribbles short of the cup nor leaps past it when pouring, and the balance is good when grasping the handle from well down the side.

The blue light is hoopy, too.

This 'Nesco Electric Kettle' will bring a cool mood to your kitchen.

The kettle turns on a beautiful true blue color to light up the water while it is in the heating process and turns off along with the heating element at the moment the water reaches boiling point.

As much as this kettle is electric, it doesn't sing that tune, so you'll have to rely on viewing the kettle to know whether or not the hot water is ready. If you don't care for that tell-tale kettle's whistle though; not hearing it just might have you dancing along with the bubbles in the boiling water. Those bubbles produce quite a show and are a pleasure to observe if you have a fascination for that sort of thing. The entire front half of the kettle boasts a large clear/opaque plastic viewing pane to enjoy this lighted experience.

There are a few key points to note from my experience with this product.

*kettle only boils water, no other substances are to be heated with this appliance (for best performance don't put tea bags inside either)!

*kettle does not have a way to maintain water at a constant hot temperature for prolonged periods/ no keep warm feature

*once the kettle boils the water, it does turn itself OFF.

*minimum boiling volume is 2 cups at a time, maximum is 8 cups

*kettle comes in two parts; cordless kettle and corded kettle base

*kettle has AUTO OFF built-in feature, no permanent ON feature

*ON switch is on the kettle, not on the base; there are no switches on the base

*interior base is the most metal to come into contact with the water, everything else touching water is plastic

*there is no glass in this appliance

*kettle swivels freely full-circle 360 degrees on base so you can place the handle at any angle

*kettle base takes about as much room as a standard 6 inch round cake pan sitting on the counter as far as surface area

*best practice: to empty out kettle after use as it is not recommended to leave water sitting in the appliance for prolonged periods to prevent eventual calcification

*the filter, a small sieve/strainer located inside the kettle just in front of the pour spout, is removable for rinsing by sliding/slotting into place and is used to protect any sediments from within the kettle from being poured out into your cup

I recommend boiling and rinsing the kettle 3 or 4 times at full capacity prior to enjoying a beverage or meal with water from this kettle for the first time. after following this practice, i experienced no flavor taints in the water.

Overall a fantastic kettle and one of those must have appliances for anyone who enjoys often some hot tea and cocoa, instant ramen or even steaming hot towels used in cosmetic/therapeutic practices. My whole family has been using my Nesco Electric Kettle and commenting on how great it is. I think my old whistling stove top model is jealously retiring.

Honest reviews on Nesco WK-64P 2.24-Quart Electric Water Kettle

We've been using it for 1/2 year now. Workls well, we like it. Previous Krups worked for 13 years and though Nesco has some deficiencies, I still gave it 5-star rating.

Pros:

360-defree rotation when on base

transperent water-view

quick boiling

low-noise compared to other black/steel models

price

look and feel

solid and stable

not heavy, balanced (unlike new Krups)

Cons

you have to fill it above MIN mark/2 cups or it won't shut-off quickly, will be hot

filter/screen(useless anyway) may fall out when lid is open. We don't and fill through the spout.

I just ordered another of these for my grandchild in college. I was surprised at the reviews about the horrible taste and smell. I was worried about that the first time and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste of plastic and had no smell. I noticed Bonito Lil's review mentioned using distilled water and that's what I used because I wanted to leave the water in the unit until the next use. Finally, her description of the blue boiling water is right on. It's hoopy. If I'm having a hot drink after dark I turn off the light and watch it boil for my evening's entertainment.
