I purchased this item prior to winter and made several logs out of shredded newspaper. It is a summer use item, not something you want to do out in the cold. It is messy. The paper has to sit in the water mixture for at least 24 hours or it won't break down into pulp. The item itself works great. The logs don't burn very long unless you add wax or oil to the mix, which would never work for an indoor fireplace.Best Deals on XtremePowerUS Newspaper, Paper Log Maker
I bought this thinking I knew how long it would take the logs to dry. WRONG!!! I made logs 3 weeks ago, and they are still wet to the touch. Now, having said that, I have them in an unheated garage. Dry time would be much shorter in a heated space.I felt the need to add to my old review. Not only does it take forever and a day for these "logs" to dry, but when you put them on the fire they just smolder. I added 2 to an already burning fire and they just sat there and smoldered. I couldn't believe it. To get them to actually burn at all you have to break them up. As far as I'm concerned this press is junk. You're better off just rolling up the newspaper as tight as you can by hand and throwing that into the fire. It wouldn't last long, but at least you would get actual flame, and heat.
