We were looking for a silent heater and a friend recommended we buy a mica panel heater. It heats up fast and is totally silent. We are using to heat our TV room that is about 14 x 20 ft. It's just right to take the edge off a cold room, heating our TV room from 62 to about 72 degrees with no problem. The thermostat even works and keeps the room at the temperature we want. We have a finished basement with an area that is hard to keep warm. This heater is quiet and puts out a decent amount of heat to make the area more comfortable. Pretty straightforward to use. What we like about it is that it is quiet and does not 'blow' heat around the room but radiates it. It's not noisy and is cool to the touch as described. Our kids are older so it's not an issue but for someone with younger kids, this is a good option in case a young one gets too close. Happy with the item and would recommend.

Plugged it in and it just lets off a bad odor from the device heating up... Was not worth getting that little bit of heat for the smell.

Bad trade off, would not buy another one of these Chinese pieces of crap. Lasko makes a great ceramic heater that works. Bought two.
