This unit doesn't work for me. But for some it is the right product.

Pros:

Very attractive and seemingly high quality. The glass looks great in any room with other black glass rectangles, a very common thing these days. The LCD display is a nice retro touch.

The power cord is comfortingly heavy duty and not flimsly like most heaters.

The thermostat seems accurate.

Cons:

Not hot enough! It took way too long to warm up the room for my taste. It doesn't heat as well as microthermic heaters.

Not compatible with a device like the Lux programmable thermostat. When the power is shut off, all settings are reset, including the Celsius display. The mode has to be changed after you plug it back in, meaning it won't work merely by turning on the power switch.

The controls are unintuitive, and the remote can't be seen in the dark.

There is no temperature down button, only temperature up, so you have quite a lot of pressing and beeping in order to lower the auto temperature. This was truly annoying.

I'm not convinced it has any special technology beyond a heating element heating the glass. Most of the heat comes out of a vent above the heating element, not the glass.

UPDATE: 1/3/12. We used it over the holidays to give it the old college try, and after a few days of use, the unit became inexplicably noisy, making a surprising number of squeaks and rattles for something that doesn't seem to have moving parts. I cannot really recommend this heater to anyone, and had to downgrade to two starts. It does appear to be safely constructed or else I'd lower it even more.

I purchased this product for my sister because she has my 8 month old niece sleeping in a room with insufficient heating. She had been using a different portable heater in the room but found if she left it on all night the room would get too hot. With this heater, she can set the temperature display to a comfortable level and then the heater will maintain that temperature she doesn't have to worry about the room getting too hot or too cold. She has also been able to mount it on the wall so she doesn't have to worry about the baby touching it now that's she's crawling around. This heater has provided the perfect solution for her!

I bought this unit because it looked cool and was wall mountable.

Pros:

Nice design

Heats well*

Does not dry the air which is awesome! We use this in a cold drafty room and it ends up nice and toasty after a bit.

Comes with remote

Cons:

It always starts at Celsius rather than Fahrenheit which is annoying unless you are used to it.

Thermostat is inaccurate for us so we figured to bump it up 2 degrees to get the right amount of heat in Auto mode most of the time.*

Beep is very loud when setting temp or mode so we do it as quickly as we can so as to not disturb the kids when they are sleeping.

Note: As with most heaters of this type there will be noises as metal expands and contracts but it doesn't bother the kids.

I bought this for my office above my garage. It looked good. Seemed to do a pretty good job heating about 300 sq ft for about two months. Then, it quit working. The display works, the heat doesn't. Looking into returning it. Not sure if it's past the expiration time to return. Disappointed to say the least.

We have been using this now for several months through a very cold Los Angeles winter, in my drafty 100 year old house and it's worked great. It heats up quicker than I expected and while it doesn't make our bedroom 'surface of the sun' hot, that is fine as it's not what I was looking for. The heater has worked flawlessly and is absolutely quiet while operating. To address a couple issues tht have been brought up, yes it has no button to lower the temp which yes is a very odd oversight indeed, and yes it's odd that the unit defaults to centigrade. However both these are true non issues, it takes two seconds to recitfy the need to lower the temp and another two seconds to rectify the centegrade issue, in other words this is truly a case of making a mountain out of a mole hill.

I'd happily buy several of these for every part of my house.
