I brought this AC from PC Richards and Sons and contrary to another reviewer, it is NOT loud. It is actually very quiet. My bed is directly underneath the unit and I can watch TV comfortably with it running on full. I guess maybe some people aren't used to the window units. It does make some noise but its barely noticeable.

I have found it cools better on LOW than it does on high, if i leave this on low with a small fan between my bedroom & living-room to blow the cool air around the two rooms, I frequently find myself reaching for a blanket because it cools that well, even on the low fan setting.

What confuses me about this unit, and what caused me to give it only 3 stars is that at night, in a closed room that measures only 10' x 13' I always am hot and sweaty, with the unit on 60 degrees and high. I don't know if it just can't handle the room because sleeping in it are 5 bodies, my boyfriend, myself and our three dogs...maybe we generate too much heat for it to keep up with? But that frustrates me to no end, because when i sleep is when i want the room to be at its coolest, and it is not.

Overall, it does a great job quietly cooling off two rooms but fails to cool my bedroom at night with us sleeping in it.

Oh, and it does really well with the energy saver. I used the unit non-stop for a month and my bill was under $200. Very happy with that aspect.

Purchases this unit last year (June 2012) to cool a 370 sq. ft. insulated aluminum three season room (2006). This unit is designed to be mounted through a wall or in an Anderson (vertical open/close)type window opening. Because my windows are large casement (horizontal open/close) windows, I decided to fabricated a custom enclosure for the unit. Fits like a glove and looks great in the window wall. I could have purchased a vertical mount window a/c unit from other manufacturers at a similar cost, which would have eliminated the need for the custom build, however, while conducting my research, I found this unit privided the best specs./performance/efficiency data for the money. In additon Fredreich has always built quality air conditioning products.

We have had quite a few family gatherings over the 2012 summer season and the unit has performed flawlessly. In my opinion, this was the best "bang for the buck" as compared to the performance of a comparable 1.5 ton ductless a/c unit installation ($2800.00). I'm happy with the Fredreich purchase and would recommend this unit to anyone looking for an efficient window installed a/c unit.

I bought this for a large bedroom with cathedral ceilings and master bath; was very tempted to go with the 12000 BTU unit but as I worked the numbers this one was large enough. It is replacing a 14000 BTU Sharp portable which just couldn't handle the job as the portables are not nearly as efficient as a window (or, as I am using it a through the wall) unit.

Bedroom is on top floor and has 3 sides that get the sun so gets quite warm even here in the NW. I have been turning it on at 6PM when the room is 82 or 84 and it will easily have the temperature down to 66 by 9PM.

So far has been reliable and quiet with no rattles which might partly be because it is through the wall so very tightly mounted. Easily twice as efficient as the old one using 800 watts instead of 1200 and cycling off and on instead of staying on continually. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it hasn't dripped outside, instead the fan has been able to cool the condenser coils with the water and it evaporates. Nice because I have a deck directly below and while some dripping wouldn't be the end of the world it's better that it doesn't. Can't guarantee that it wouldn't drip in more humid weather or if on longer but I can definitely hear the fan hitting the water in the pan that has been collected.

Only downside was the sleeve was bent at the bottom and it looked like the unit had been forced into the sleeve dinging a few of the condenser fins. Was that way out of the box and I decided it wasn't worth sending back. Not enough to subtract a star but could have been handled more carefully at the factorythe box had no crushing at all so it definitely was the packing at the factory.

Honest reviews on Friedrich CP10G10 10000 btu - 115 volt - 10.8 EER Chill series room

Friedrich completely ruined this unit by using two cheap plastic frame guides on the bottom of the cabinet to hold the window curtains in place for a window installation. They don't fit properly and prevent the unit from tilting away from the house the required amount to allow water to drain out the back. The instructions even point out that they break easily! Friedrich could have easily provided metal brackets to avoid broken parts and water leaking into the inside of your house given the price of the unit. Even had a qualified Friedrich tech come to the house and tell me that I would need to drill new holes in the cabinet (aka redesign the unit) in order for the unit to tilt downward the recommended amount. Getting the unit out of the cabinet to install it is also a pain as it seems the foam gets glued between the unit and the chassis preventing the unit from sliding out of the cabinet without ripping and ruining the foam insulation. Then there's the poor fan assembly design that causes the fan to rub against the styrofoam when the unit is running creating tons of noise. Exchanged two units with this fan assembly problem before giving up and getting my money back to get an AC from another company. Just an overall poor design. Friedrich really missed the mark and tarnished it's name as a reputable AC company with this unit.

This product was defective from the start. It started with a small infrequent rattle. After about a month, the fan or motor rattled all the time. I have spent 3 months trying to get it repaired and Friedrich is yet to get this taken care of. Friedrich's customer service is poor. By my experience, this company has gone down hill. Their product quality is poor and their customer service is poor.
