I purchased this cover for an exhaust vent built into my over-the-stove microwave; the vent leaked air. In order to work it had to have the help of magnets, otherwise it would not hang on. Like other reviewers, I think it could work as a floor or wall vent cover but it needs help when used in an upside-down position.

My problem vent was on ceiling and the magnetic property of this cover is not strong enough to lie over a ceiling vent. Probably best for floor and wall vents.

it is a thin piece and maybe that is why it really doesn't work well, but it seems to work on non painted metal vents and not at all with painted vents.
Honest reviews on Magnetic Vent Covers
I found these to cover our heating vents because we can't control the thermostat in our building and it gets very hot. They work pretty well for that purpose, but we had to paint them to match the color of the heaters and cut them down to size, and after one season they started to curl. After another few months they curled so badly they needed to be replaced, and when I ordered more, they arrived bent (poor packaging) and never really straightened out. They are pretty inexpensive and I haven't found another way to control the heat so I bought another package, but it would be nice if the magnet was a little heavier so maybe the curling problem wouldn't happen.

I like the price but the magnetic surface doesn't hold well and the heater ends up blowing right through them. Better than nothing.
