I bought one of this model heater two years ago. I have just purchased a second of these heaters because my first one works perfectly, every winter. I think the people who had negative experiences received units with faulty wiring. Luckily, mine have worked great. I have heated a 12 x 15 room from 60 degrees to 72F, for twelve-hour periods two winters in a row. This year I have used the heater to heat a10 x 10 bedroom with no direct heat from as low as 50F to about 70F, just by setting the heater on its lowest setting two hours before bed. Based on the units I have received, I have to recommend this model highly for heating small spaces quietly. On the minus side though, the unit itself would be very attractive, were it not just as large as the DeLonghi radiators. As it is, it's a rather large unit to move around the room.

I bought 4 separate types of electric heaters this past winter in order to heat my house; I wanted to evaluate the various models.

The other 3 had various strengths and weaknesses; this one was completely useless. It looks cool but does not stay on (thermostat faulty?) and barely heats on those rare occasions when it is on. Don't waste your money on this.

The DeLonghi Mica Panel heater I bought works great. It costs twice as much but it's well worth it.

I ordered two retro convection heaters. One worked and the other has to be shipped back due to a faulty thermostat. The one that works is great and heats up a 10 x 10 room in five minutes. You can really tell the difference that quickly. What I love about this heater is that it is almost silent. Even on the lowest setting there is a very warm radiating heat coming out of the top of the heater. The sides warm slightly but don't seem to overheat. There are two main heat settings min and max. Then you can turn the adjustable thermostat up to six. I find keeping it at 2 along with min seems to work great. On colder nights you could just raise the thermostat. This also has a safety feature so if it overheats it turns itself off. I think this is safe around pets unless you have a dog that knocks things over. If you have small children I would not recommend this as it can be knocked over fairly easily with a good push. I feel it is safe for my cats as there are no exposed heating elements. The element is deep inside the unit. I'm happy with my purchase I just wish the second heater had worked too. Maybe I'll get a replacement.

Very warm even at Low Setting (750 watts), you can also set it High Setting (1500 Watts),easy to find and easy to use controls at top right side, warms up very very quickly about 1 minutes, about 22 inches wide, by 24 inches tall, by 6 inches thick , no fan , SUPER QUIET, as advertised, hope it lasts, will buy another one soon, does not suck up oxygen, gives no odor, excellent, no humming noise nor crackling noise, i suggest you keep 3 inches from objects [on the back front and sides], had it a 1 and helf year the heater is excellent.[bought a 2nd one, which also still works after almost a year !!]

Since we have hot water, baseboard heat in the house, I figured that this was just the heater to augment our system. I read negative comments on this heater from people who don't understand how convection heat works. They complain of no fan to circulate the heat, but convection doesn't utilize a fan by definition. On the lowest setting, which is "1", and with only half the heater engaged (there are 2 switches), this heater will keep you very toasty. The trick is the room can't be huge, probably just the size of the average bedroom and mine is 11' x 11'. The trick is: you must close your bedroom door, and give the heater about 20 minutes to operate in the room. The heater works like a toaster and the heat rises and then circulates, warming the room. This Delonghi did a great job, and is much cheaper and faster to operate than those oil-filled radiators. All this and it's just a beautifully designed piece--not an eyesore, but an asset for any small room. You won't want to hide it. Perfect for a bedroom because it is silent, and no draft of cold air to blow on you. The perfect, bedroom heater.
